:: Scenery ::

The forest is huge and plentiful. There are many creatures that roam the forest. Game is everywhere for hunters and plenty of greenery for gatherers.

There is a small village just outside of the forest that the inhabitants call Thoranhall. There is an Inn, a few diners, and merchants come and go regularly. There is also a general goods store.

Mira drew back her arrow and let go just a bit too soon. "Rrrgh..." She grumbled as she missed the heavy rabbit she was hunting. "Kino... you could assist me you know..." She was sitting in a crouched position between two trees. She turned around and looked at the lazy black panther just lying on a fallen tree. Kino yawned and layed his head down.

The young elf rolled her eyes and pulled her hood down over her face in frustration. Her stomach grumbled and she winced. She sighed, "Well, if I can't catch anything I guess we could go to the village. It might take a few hours..." She had just realized how far into the forest she was, and was debating silently on whether or not to just sleep with Kino here in the forest for the night. She pulled the hood back up to its normal position. With a smirk on her face as she stared at her now sleeping companion, she walked over to the tree he was on and stroked his fur. She silently thought,
'Where would I be without you, my old friend...'

Worn yet silent, Xyprhus walked through the forest. He bore on his back a bag. It looked harmless, granting him the appearance of a common merchant. Trinkets and charms dangled from its straps. Within its leather grasp, the soft clinging of goods and jewels could be heard, but it was all a mere facade meant to hide something far more valuable than any jewel he could ever get his hands on: an egg. It was the egg off a rare species of dragon. The familiar had managed to swipe it from its nest without much trouble, just as his master had ordered him to. Now, after a week of traveling, he was finally to return home. If he could make it back, that is.

It had been so long sense he was last able to feed. He was starving, and he needed magic soon. It wouldn't be long before he started to crumble. Urgency was in the air, making the need to eat stronger than anything else. Yet, as deep in the forest as he was, where would he be able to locate any magic?

In an effort to reserve energy, Xyphrus had dropped all of his disguises. He looked like himself: the pale, white haired boy known to be a danger. The only thing concealing his true figure was the cover of a heavy cloak, which only managed to make him look suspicious.

In the distance, the familiar noted sound. There was the wheezing off an arrow. It hit wood, then the grass shifted. In the moments following, a rather heavy hare darted by him. It was obvious, someone was nearby. He contemplated swiftly, before deciding to make an approach. If he sensed any magic, any at all, he planned to try and swipe it. He needed to. Quiet, the familiar took to the shadows of the forest and made an approach. Grey eyes stared ahead, seeking his target.

Something seemed off. A presence nearby maybe? She was tired and weak from not having eaten anything that morning. She decided to ignore the thought that someone might be nearby. "Just in case..." She placed both palms out in front of her and shielded herself from negative energy. All that really did of course was keep the negativity at bay, but could allow some disturbances still. Especially since she was already weak and tired. She began to grow a bit paranoid.

"Kino..." The large black panther opened his eyes, and already knew what she wanted. He stood up and shook his fur off and stretched. Jumping down from the log, he began prowling into the trees into the direction of whatever it was that was in the woods nearby. Obviously not an animal, the cat looked around until something began coming into his site. Mira still remained on the log resting. She was going to leave this one to her companion. She stood up and jumped down onto the grass and placed her hands down onto the ground. "This should be fine..." She pulled a small seed from her pocket and placed it into the ground. Covering it with her hands, a small sprout emerged from the ground and began sprouting strawberries. All she could manage from the one seed was ten of the small fruits. "That should be enough to give me enough strength to make it to the village."

Meanwhile, Kino reached the stranger and sat down on the ground in front of him. Surveying him in his mind, Kino decided he was probably just after the same thing that his master was. Strength and nourishment. He saw no threat from this person and decided to leave him be, before returning to his master. He did not look back to see if the stranger was following or not.

Thoranhall! A safe haven for travelers and adventurers that want to go into the forest. The small busy town was a camp that housed many merchants till it grew. Now Ryan had finally made to Thoranhall and can set up his own shop and become rich enough to buy thornahall or make another city. But first thing is first, Ryan has to get a artifact from the woods first. He sighs, knowing that the woods is a dangerous place. He walks to the edge of Thoranhall and looks t the forest in front of him. The dense plants and big trees seem to block most of the light, giving the forest a dark mood to it. He sighs and snaps a finger. A small ball of light pop into existence and floats in front of him. The ball of light moves when Ryan moves and stops when he stops. It was like a lantern held by a invisible hand. Ryan takes a step into the woods as the ball of light lit up a small area in front of him. Time for a adventure, I guess. ,he thought as he entered into the woods unprepared for what was inside.

Mira picked the strawberries from the freshly grown sprout. She chewed on this slowly and swallowed. "Ahh... thats refreshing..." She cooed as she bit into another one. Kino came back to her side and she tossed him a fruit. He made a small purring noise and bit down into the fruit, soon laying by her side for her to give him more. She sat 3 more strawberries in front of her companion. "Here. Gain your strength. We will be traveling back to the village soon. Perhaps I will stay at an Inn tonight..."

Kino looked up at her, knowing that this meant he would be in the woods alone that night. He held a sad expression on his face. "Oh don't worry, it will only be for one night."

She continued to rest and eat her strawberries with the large panther.

SIR WOLFE

The Knight had been recently transferred to the small village, not that he minded. He'd spent too long in war, too long in blood of comrades to care. Although now sitting outside the tavern, sword resting upon his lap and gaze lazy; he'd rather stab himself at the foot and be sent home. This village was too peaceful, too quiet. Alas the battlefields chants were of clanking armour and demented screams. Which seemed better? Wolfe then decided, to himself, that his next assignment should be in one of the cities. He'd be damned if he had to stop another bloody horsethief or drunken brawls between the village idiots.

With that he stood rather quickly sheathing the iron blade. Another patrol wouldn't hurt, the place was after all a rather sweetening sight. A slice of life, he wouldn't mind himself, if he ever managed to settle down with a child or two. Lawrence then darkly thought, he would be dead before that ever happened. The knight set off, around the edge of the forest at a slow and leisurely pace. Watching the trees gently bend to the northern breeze, shifting the clouds above. Alike sails of white cotton, drifting on that expanse of blue. Golden rays of sunshine, reflecting upon fields of wheat like gold. Drowsy bees, honey dazed buzzed along, aside the trickling blossoms that had bloomed.

"Drink, for the wind blows cold and

Drink for The Wolf runs free.

Drink to the ships with the sails like wings and

Drink to the storm-tossed seas.

Drink to the lasting nights

and those who warm our beds.

Drink to the mead that warms our hearts

and the cold that clears our head.

Drink to the Allfather's Eye

for Odin's sons are we.

Drink to the World-Tree where he hung

and the Runes of Mystery."

His voice was a murmur of the old drinking song, he remembered it fondly. Especially after fighting, the mead would pour and men would chant. It was happy. More so than happy. It was living. And my, what a bloody catchy tune it was!

After a a hour or so in the woods, Ryan had already been chased by three creatures. Creatures that he never saw before! He sprinted out in front of a knight as the biggest wolf he ever say, chased him. As soon as he turned around the wolf jump and lurched toward Ryan. Ryan quickly jumped back summoning a small thorn bush that sprouted from under him. The thorns wrapped around the wolf, blood dripping from it's wounds. This only made the wolf angry. The jumped out of the thorn bush, pushing Ryan to his back as he takes out his dagger. He let out a scream as the wound snapped it's jaws only to be blocked by Ryan's small dagger. He prayed that the knight would help him or he would be dead in a few seconds.

Xyphrus felt it. Indeed, a spell had just been casted. While it was a spell meant to repel, it only made him hungrier. He needed magic. He was about to move forth, when he noted the sound of approaching footsteps. When he turned his gaze, what he didn't expect to find was a panther prowling towards him. Immediately, his form grew tense. He hadn't expected to be so casually approached by such a dangerous animal, and in his weakened state he didn't know if he would have been able to defend himself from it. He took a step back, eyeing the beast. Luckily, just as suddenly as it came, it left. He breathed a soft sigh of relief, but it was then that he noticed the creature was walking towards the magic he felt a moment before.

He lowered his gaze, contemplating. Should he still pursue it? If he didn't, he may end up crumbling long before he could reach his master. With a silent sight, the boy followed after the panther. He kept a distance away, looking ahead from under the cover of his hood as they made thier approach upon a nearby girl. She was eating from a berry sprout. A few yards away, Xyphrus ceased walking and merely stared ahead, uncertain if he should approach her or not. He was just about to greet her, when in the nearby distance he noted the sound of a scream.

The Palsiet sat at a table near the door of Thoranhall's Tavern, he had been in the town for a few days, taking time to ask the citizens for any rumors that may lead him to sources of grand adventure or signs of any Palsiet survivors. Luckily for him, the town seemed to be having enough problems with the surrounding area, so he had been keeping track of things that would need to be done to make yet another town safe. His Size unfortunately frightened villagers, and his pale skin and odd accent didn't help when trying to find information, he had often had to fight off a guard who felt threatened in other towns, but so far all he had gotten was odd glances from the locals and the occasional "Geh'oudda here ya freak" from those who had looked a tad too deep into their pints.

"Head West out of town and take the fork to the north."

"That is the way to the old Saza-hallah temple, right?"

"Sure is. You'll have to pass through the forest beyond Thoranhall first, though. Are you sure a pretty little thing like you will be alright?"

"Why thank you kind sir. I never realized you cared for a strange young boy so. I'm sure your wife would be VERY proud."

"Ya-young BOY?!? BAH Get on with you you damned trickster elf."

"Very well then. Good day."

With those words, a bright eyed Belisair set out on the road to Thoranhall. Pursuing a hidden ancient scroll and his destiny (though he didn't know it yet).

Flint

The cruel wizard rattled Flint's small cage with a laugh.

"Stop that!" squawked the crow.

Shaking the cage even harder, the wizard descended a steep hill. The forest was like a mazw to the bird. He did not know the outside world was this massive. All he had known was his cage and the inside of the wizard's house where he tormented the bird for years. Scars covered Flint's body from his long beak to his sharp talons.

"I'm going to rip your eyes out when I get out of this prison," the bird said angrily.

Smiling with confidence, the wizard said, "Once we reach Thoranhall you'll be sold for a fortune and I'll have created another talking bird just like you my little friend. We shall never meet again after that. You should thank me. Whoever buys you will treat you well. I admit that you lived a hard life at my hands but you are now a rare talking bird. For now at least."

"Keep gloating old man!" said Flint. "I hope a bandit sticks an arrow into your greedy heart."

Just then a small albino snake with green spots slithered towards the wizard's feet. Flint noticed the creature and remembered that the wizard had one of these animals in his lab. A vial was kept beside it's cage to collect the specimen's poisonous venom. The snake's mouth, storing the dangerous fangs, was inches away from the old wizard's toes. Flint tensed his wings with anticipation. A stroke of luck was just about to befall the helpless crow. Quick as a flash, the snake contoured it's body into knots. It let out agonizing hisses and became motionless. The wizard's distorted glowing fingers slowly normalized to their original form. He picked up the dead snake by the tail and hung it on his belt. Flint curse under his breath as the wizard whistled an irritating tone that pierced the bird ears.

"Just a few more miles to Thoranhall," said the wizard to Flint.

Flint gripped the cold bars of the cage as it swung back and forth with tremendous force. Back and forth...

There must've been a large storm in the mountains to the East; Belisair was able to gather wind so easily to increase his speed. He was making exceptionally good time to Thoranhall: he was a little less than halfway there and a full day hadn't even passed yet.

It had been a very peaceful journey with no voices on the winds or noisy geese to gossip about their old flocks before they "retired". That is until he heard a very dissatisfied squawk from two separate directions.

"Well, there goes my peace", Belisair sighed as he turned his head in an attempt to hear the rest of whatever the squawking breeze had to say.

"Goodness me, it sounds as if someone is being held against there will. Perhaps I should investigate and see if I can dissolve the tension", he said contemplatively.

"What do you think Zephyr?" he asked the winds surrounding him knowing that they couldn't reply

"Well maybe if I save the talking bird he'll be able to here you all. So, I guess you should show me where you came from little breeze, if it is no trouble for you of course." Belisair stared into the air as if he could see the PARTICULAR breeze he was speaking to

In a rare turn of events, the breeze actually chose to humor Belisair and lead him back where it came from: farther up the path to Thoranhall.

Flint

"Old fool!" yelled the crow with his wing's hugging his nauseated belly. "I'll kill you if it's the last think I do. I swear, you're going to bleed and beg for your miserable life! Every scar on my body will be avenged!"

The wizard's hand began to glow red as it twisted into a ferocious claw. Each of Flint's feathers punctured his skin. The crow wailed and thrashed about the tiny cage. Smiling like a fearsome demon, the wizard watched the bird beg him to end the torment.

"Beg me more," said the wizard.

Flint bitterly shouted, "For the love of the gods, forgive my worthless hide. Forgive a poor dumb animal."

The hand subsided it's attack and returned to it's original form.

"Much better," said the wizard with glee. "After all Flint, you are my property and I can..."

The wizard froze in his tracts. His body began to tighten up. Flint gazed at his captor, waiting for him to spring at whoever had spooked the old wizard. The crow knew that there was a magic wielder near bye. An entire minute past but no one had appeared. A cold breeze rushed through the foliage of the forest engulfing the wizard and bird. The hand of the wizard glowed as Flint's rusty cage rattled from the increasing wind. The vibrating bar's of the prison made clicking noises. Flint's heart pattered when the bars tore off the cage one at a time. Flint smiled, knowing that he was almost free.

The wizard finally sprang into action. He knew that his precious bird was almost free. Spinning around in the direction of the magic caster, the wizard cast a spell from his deformed hand. Unfortunately the wind bolted at the spell causing it to ricochet back towards the wizard. The wizard and the bird cage crashed to the ground breaking the cage in two. Flint joyfully hop out of is prison and darted for the dead snake that had slipped out of the wizard's belt. Squeezing the snakes venomous fangs out of it mouth, Flint commenced his long over due revenge.

Mercilessly jabbing the deadly fangs into the wizard's neck, the crow roared out, "Die you old FOOL!"

Flint kept stabbing the fangs repeatedly as he cursed the wizard who was desperately gasping for air. The many fresh punchers on the puffy neck oozed out blood and venom. The wizard heaved out one last small breath and died.

"Never again will you stick another knife in me," shouted the bird continuing to prick at the swelling neck. "Not another one of those spells shall you afflict me with."

Flint, panting, slowed down his gory assault on the wizard. After a deep sign the satisfied bird halted his attack. The crow smiled as the wind subsided into a peaceful breeze whisking off the birds searing sweat. Lifting his head, Flint watch as his rescuer glided towards him. Flint clenched his beak; it look like another human.

"Damn it!"

"I hardly think that much stabbing was necessary. His own spell had pretty much taken him out", there was only amusement in his voice as Belisair glided in on a particularly powerful wind that had (luckily) ricocheted that spell.

"Man that was a lucky one, Zeph. Thanks", he muttered under his breath as he approached a surprisingly none-to-pleased talking bird.

"Hello there little brother. How are doing today? Any lucky winds blow through here?"

Flint

"Step back human!" Flint screamed.

The crow pointed the snake's fangs at the mystical stranger. Swinging the head of the snake like a sword, the bird stood his ground in defiance. Curiosity and suspicion spun through Flint's head. Was the stranger animal or human? Friend or foe? Why was this creature talking to itself? Where did it come from? And who the hell was Zeph? Flint shook his blistering head.

The crow continued, "I'll kill you too if you don't stay away from me. Not another scar, you HEAR! No one's going to hurt me anymore! That includes flying human's with glowing rainbow wings."

"OK first: I'm half-sylph NOT human.

Second: I just saved you from a really inept wizard;he didn't even have the standard wards up.

Third: I if I wanted to hurt you, I could and would have already. I wanted to help you.

So if you would please stop swinging that rare Natterhead Biter around like a common garden snake, I have several potions that can heal you."

Belisair was not happy with how scared his brother bird was of a child of Air and Sky.

As a matter of fact... "As a humble Child of Air and Sky, I graciously greet you in the manner you truly deserve. Forgive me.", he said as he swung into a deep bow, presenting his wings in a regal and submissive pose.

Flint

Flint, who was perplexed at what was coming our of it's mouth, gawked at the creature. In all of the horrifying years trapped inside the deceased wizard's lab, the crow had no knowledge regarding these foreign words from the kneeling creature before him.

"WHAT?! I haven't the faintest idea what you just said. Sylph? Wards? Natterhead? Belisair? Are you trying to swear at me?! Or are you just some kind of freak? I don't need your help or your filthy potions."

He stomped his foot furiously on the blades of grass while thinking of all the painful enchantments that he had undergone. His eye's moistened with frustration. The Natterhead Bitter's pale head drooped down to the crows feet.

"No more experiments!" Flints voice quivered, "I've had enough of magical human tricksters. Half-sylph
my ass!"

Flint's eyes teared up which made him even angrier. He darted his head away from the half-sylph/half-human creature to hid his shame.

The Palsiet had left the bar, paying more than enough for his meal and drink, as his kind never used currency and it had no worth to him. He had wandered off into the forest to follow up on some strange sightings, these usually turned out to be phony, but he didn't mind getting away from the town to enjoy some time being alone. A distant commotion had caught his attention and he drew his bow for safeties sake before approaching to gaze upon quite an odd arrangement of characters, A strange Fairy creature and a talking Raven. He sensed no danger and lowered his bow, but stayed hidden to try and listen in on the strange duo's stories.

"Come now, little one please don't cry. My name Belisair. I realize you wouldn't know who or what I am. That wizard must've had you since your hatching. I am a sylph. I really want to help you. Allow me to show you..." as he spoke, Belisair stood tall, fully spread his wings, and closed his eyes in focus. As he concentrated, the air went still and his eyes began to glow beneath his lids. He opened his eyes and looked towards the heavens, waiting.

"I beseech you Father and Mother, Air and Sky, Wind and Cloud HEAR ME, your child, as I implore you to show my young brother bird the truth of my words. Show him truth in his own eyes so that my words may reach him!"

The heavy clouds parted and a pure ray of light shone down upon Belisair and the suspicious bird. Rampant winds of myriad colors descended and circled both of them raising them up into the sky above the clouds. Surrounded by the magnificence of Sky Aether, surely the poor bird would trust Belisair.

After the miraculous display was ceased, they descended back to the mundane world below. Flint was no longer crying, on the contrary he was mildly giddy with excitement.

Still slightly cautious of the peculiar Belisair, the crow said, "Well that was some potent magic. Much better than that fool of a wizard over there. Okay! If you don't mind I'll take your offer. You may heal me- BUT it better not hurt! I have no qualms beating you to a pulp."

Flint slowly approached the intriguing Belisair, unsure if he was going to regret his choice.

"Only an inept alchemist would concoct a painful healing potion.", Belisair was greatly relieved if slightly exhausted. 'Ok a lot exhausted, but it was totally worth the trouble.'

"I actually have just the one for healing winged creatures. Give me a moment." Belisair began rummaging through his numerous pockets, more pockets than should be possible in a robe that fit that closely to his body.

"Aha, there it is, and you dont even have to drink it." Belisai had produced a tiny triangular vial filled with cerulean liquid, which he promptly pored out a quarter of onto his new friend. The potion seeped down between the bird's feathers and sunk beneath his skin, healing him from the inside out.

"By the way, little brother, what did you say your name was?"

McKane traverses the forest in silence, a lsrge sword at his side. He keeps his eye sharp for any enemies, the wisp illumnating his path. Nothing occurs in his path, trying to find his way to the village.

Lila'Vjola moved through the forest at a cautious pace, she was exhausted, hungry and very lost. Her tail moved very slowly behind her, swaying side to side as she went. She hoped she was close to a town, a place where she could dance and perhaps collect some money by dancing and buy some food. Warm food would be lovely. For a moment the petite Yuan-ti shivered slightly. This creature was hardly dressed for traveling through forests, or long distances at all really, but Lila had been on the move for weeks. It had been many days since she'd last seen a town or even a friendly face.

All she wanted was to rest, to get somewhere where she would feel safe, and dance. Dancing was Lila's passion, though that was no surprise. Her former master had made her learn every dance he could think of and some very exotic ones not usually seen often in his lands. From a young age she had been trained to be a good slave and an almost perfect dancer, she had grown to love dancing rather quickly.

She stepped delicately through the forest, hesitating for a moment as she thought she heard the sound of voices. Though Lila couldn't quite tell which direction they were coming from. She hoped if it was voices, that the people wouldn't be scary or mean. The Yuan-ti continued on her way. Hoping to meet a friendly traveler in this woods that could help her along to a hopefully nearby town.
