The Soldier and Student's Bonds

Keegan laughed and gave Wilson a gentle kick so he was at a full throttle gallop. He went into 2-point and looked back at her and laughed. "I'm winning!" He kept his heels down and his shoulders back so the horse felt as comfortable as possible. (Sorry about the lengthy horse descriptions but I ride them…it's in my nature...)

(I get it. I'm not going to be nearly so awesome.)

Selena brought hers up to a gallop as well, bowing down as a horse jockey would do in any situation, and hurried forwards to both catch up and overtake Keegan. "Not for long." What might have been a smile was on her face... it was always nice to feel the wind while on a horse.

He laughed and said "You aren't gonna let then beat us are you Wilson!?" The horse whinnied and plowed forward and then stopped once they got to a skill frozen over stream and broke the water with his hoof so he could drink. Keegan dismounted and let Wilson cool down and smiled as he watched Selena try to catch up after he had passed her.

A frown, she'd lost? AH, but it was so nice today... As soon as she'd lost she slowed Queen down, in increments, to let her cool off before reaching him. Self-consciously she rose her scarf again, hoping that it would hide both her blush and smile. She'd already admitted she liked (loved) him, after all... too much honesty for her at first.

He smiled and her and said "I'm going to miss you Selena." He hugged her gently and sighed. "Promise you'll be strong for me?" He took her hand gently.

She held back the urge to squeeze him in another hug, and nodded softly. "Yeah, I'll be strong. You better be as well." A frown, "I mean it, Keegan. You better stay strong for me. And write every week! Even if you can't send it!" She pointed at him sternly with the hand he wasn't holding, eyebrows drawn together worriedly.

He smiled and kissed her forehead. "I will, I promise. All I will have to do is think of you, and I will be fine." Keegan hugged her gently and then a bit tighter. She was so beautiful but he restrained himself. Keegan held her close and smiled.

She brought her arms up, and hugged him back. Her eyes closed as she breathed in, his was an important presence... and one she refused to just let go. She'd memorize everything about him, so that when he left...

He held her and then couldn't hold back and kissed her lovingly on the lips. He was going to miss her more then anything and it was really hard on him to have to leave her. He kissed her passionately and held her close, a single tear rolling down his cheek.

Selena returned his kiss with every amount of emotion she had... all her love, sorrow, desperation, and anger... How dare their country choose HER Keegan! Tears began to fall down her cheeks, she brought her hands to his neck and head, anchoring herself to him.

Keegan held her close and broke the kiss simply for lack of breath. He stroked her cheek and sighed. Why him? Why did he have to leave his Selena? He held her tightly and kissed her again, still crying softly.

Selena continued to return each kiss she was given, her grip on him strengthening, but she remained careful not to choke him. Queen, once she was finished drinking the water, butted the girl closer to Keegan.

Keegan smiled into the kiss and held her closer and pressed up against her. He kissed her again and sighed. He broke the kiss and pressed his forehead on her forehead. He smiled at her through his tears.

"Y-you..." A soft sigh as she rested her head on his chest, eyes tearing up slightly. It was important he return safely, but she knew that she couldn't keep saying that over and over.... or Keegan would get tired of it real fast. So, she took in a deep breath and said, "You're... a good kisser." as an attempt at a rare joke.

He smiled and said "You are too Selena." He hugged her as tightly as he could and didn't want to let her go. He didn't want to leave her, but he had to. It upset him to see how sad and sorrowful she had become when he told her, it broke his heart to have to leave her.

A half smile, he truly was the worlds greatest man, and she returned the hug, arms snaking under his so she couldn't choke him. This notice was torture... but at least when he returned he'd be a hero, and no-one could claim she could do better... if they tried in the first place. They'd be able to fall in love, marry, and be together in peace.

He smiled and thought about his future. He prayed that he would survive so he could come back and marry her. He had always loved her, she had always meant so much to him and it made him angry every time she started dating but hid those feelings. He hadn't dated since he fell in love with her, hoping someday he would have to courage to tell her.

"I'd love to just keep having this moment, but..." She looked back at the horse, a small smile on her face. "I think we either need to get back to riding or go home... wouldn't want your horses catching cold, right?"

He nodded and said "Lets head back." He mounted Wildon and went at a nice easy trot on the way back. He dismounted at his house and out the horse in his stall and untacksd him. He sighed and rubbed his forehead.

Selena followed him calmly, a few more tears falling down and being wiped away as she did. Once she arrived at his house she dismounted, untacked Queen, and began brushing him. After a few minutes she asked, almost worriedly, "Headache?"

He shook his head. "No, just upset. Selena you mean the world to me, please be strong for me...at least until I leave. It breaks my heart to have to leave you, and seeing you cry makes it even harder..."

A deep breath, and then... "Of course you idiot! I'll be strong enough that you won't be able to tell when you left!" Even if it meant she just hid her huge amount of sorrow and pain. "I'll have you know it's harder to cry than to start yelling at you! So yeah, I'll be fine. You promised to survive, after all." Even if he hadn't really...

He bowed his head, a bit hurt. He didn't mean to upset her and went back to brushing his horse, a single tear rolling down his cheek. He finished and heard his phone ring. He picked it up and cursed. "Selena I have to go." He kissed her and then ran off and drove to the department and got ready. They headed off to the university and out out the fire. He heard that there was someone inside and she was only four. He didn't wait for permission and rushed inside and saved the little girl.

Saphire nodded, watching as he went. Once he was out of sight she began crying again, walking back to her house, luckily nearby, silently. She'd let all the tears out now, at least... that way he'd have plenty of time to be with her in a good mood. Of course, she made sure her horse and his had been carefully cared for before leaving, but... well..

He came out and was reprimanded for going in without permission and he snapped back "I saved her life!" He left then since the fire was out and walked back to his house and started to cry softly. He didn't want her to see him like this and he went to his house. He sat on his bed and cried.
