“Not as far as I can tell captain,” he said to her. “Everything seems to be in order. And the crew seem to be as normal as they can be. Why?”

"Because we know these seas, we know the islands." Scarlett says pacing "We've been pretty much everywhere, yet somehow ships only start missing after they discover the... mine..." she trails off "Find out exactly what island that is, I'll have a chat with our guest."

He nodded, “aye aye captain,” he said scanning the map.

Lucas stood outside of the cabin, he ran his fingers through his hair as the wind blew and he noticed the other crew mates there, he waits for Scarlett and shoves his hands in his pockets.

Scarlett leave the cabin and closes the door "Forgive any hostilities they may show." she says mentioning to the crew on board "They're not overly fond of vampires who side with the royals, but I'm curious, if you don't like how things are here, why are you still here?" she asks nodding to the town.

Lucas shrugged."Not like I could freely go places to others place and this place is my home." He sighed."I'm a noble so, I'd probably bring too much attention if I did leave so I don't know." He tells her.

"So you would rather live in a place you hate then be free of all this?" Scarlett asks looking at Lucas "Well your choice really." she adds with a sigh as she opens the door to her cabin again "Why don't you think this entire situation through, preferably before sundown."

Lucas puts his hands on his hips."What're you trying to get me to come with you?" He chuckled a little."I don't know..." He sighed but he walks off the ship, he had to get over to the meeting they were holding.

"If you decide to leave bring gold!" Scarlett calls after him and she enters her cabin "Found anything Ren?" she asks looking at him, she wondered where the mine was "You know..." she mumbles "If we can't find it by ourselves we need help." she says with a grin.

“It’s just a map captain, you know if we want to learn more well have to head out ourselves to see it.”

"I need to know exactly what island it is." Scarlett says looking at the giant map on the wall "Could be one of the smaller ones..." she mumbles. "Ren doesn't it seem odd to you?" she asks after sitting in her chair "Pirates who sail the seas on a daily basis, going missing all of the sudden, then there's the black mist surrounding the island when ships come near."

“Sounds like vampire trickery to me,” he said to her. “If you’re worried about the island why don’t we just avoid it?”

At that Scarlett chuckles "I would if I could." she says "But whenever we see that ghost ship it's hiding in black mist, remember the legend of the cursed treasure?" she asks, everyone who dares call themself a true pirate should know it. "I think the vampires uncovered something that was supposed to stay hidden."

Victoria curses when she gets another letter that one of their ship is gone, but this one is destroyed, not missing, they needed that mine, but maybe she's better off looking for another one.

Lucas waved a hand as he leaves and he goes to where he had to be, plucks a blade of grass from his hair and just stood off to the side from the others.

Ren sighed, “I suppose, should we bring extra powder then? Just in case we run into it we can blow it right out of the water.”

"We should at least bring explosives to blow up the mine." Scarlett points out "After making sure no one is left inside of course." she adds with a sighs "Still, what island is it?"

Victoria is narrowing her eyes at the yawning, yes yawning, vampires "If anyone has an explanation for the missing pirate ships I'd be glad to hear it." she says scanning everyone at the meeting while servants bring everyone their drinks "Lucas, you've been out today, did you hear anything in the harbor?" she asks.

Ren sighs but nods, “well captain, based on what I’ve seen it’s this one over here?” He said pointing it out. “It’s next to this sketch of a sea serpent. I don’t know why they always have to add these embellishments to these maps.”

Lucas grabs a glass."Do you mean about the missing ship? Well the people down at the harbor as just as baffled as you are Victoria and quite hostile." He smirked."I thought I was going to be kidnapped." He joked."But as I said, they're baffled by it as well." He tells her.

"If you're referring to the one on the map on the wall, I drew that." Scarlett points out "Because we always get attacked by krakens and sea serpents in that area." she points out.

"The other pirates are baffled?" Victoria asks "And I assure you, if they kidnap you they're risking a war. Though I guess scarface doesn't need to kidnap people, she's persuasive enough to get you on board her ship willingly." she deadpans, she knows well enough that Lucas can handle himself, but there are plenty of pirates who might try something anyway.

Lucas nods at that."They were, she was talking to one of her crew mates about it and she did get me on her ship." He explained."Oh do you care that much about me princess? No need to start a war." He tells her.

Ren looked closer at the map, “captain I didn’t know you were an artist? How long has that been going on?” He asked teasingly. “Well I’ll tell the lads to have the harpoons ready then if we’re headed that way.”

"And what did she need from you?" Victoria asks narrowing her eyes, "Also you're a vampire and a noble, I'm surprised your family lets you go to the harbor alone at all." she points out.

"It's... something my dad taught me." Scarlett mumbled "He said; When you see a sea monster in the same area every time it probably lives there, so you draw it in that area, learn it's patterns and avoid the area when it's out hunting." she explain.

Lucas puts his hands on his hips."That's why I sneak out." He waved a hand."She was offering to take me with her and explaining how these pirates don't like us vampires." He explained."So princess, maybe you should get on their good side or try to get along with them they could be reasonable." He tells her.

“So, you’ve practiced drawing sea monsters enough to get good at it then captain?” Ren asked her.

"Basically." Scarlett says and she looks at the island before holding the map on her desk up "Most pirates draw something at those areas, but well, I like knowing what's lurking beneath the waves."

"Just because some of them are reasonable doesn't mean the others are. Besides, it's hard to tell resistance, neutral and royal crews apart." Victoria says "They're too stubborn to change their flags."
