The Saving Grace of Destruction

Being pinned down didn't exactly help the dark haired girls panic. Her limbs flailed about as she tried to free herself but that was very much in vain. Upon hearing Elle speak, she automatically stopped struggling, pausing for a moment as she regained proper consciousness. Strangely, along with that she felt her body calming down on its own too. Sucking in deep breaths, she relaxed the best she could, her eyes falling shut as she calmed herself down. lying limp under Elle's hold, Piper kept her eyes shut for a long moment, her breathing finally even and steady.

Opening her eyes, she glanced up at her companion for a brief moment before turning her head away. "I'm sorry, I'm okay now." she muttered lowly. She hadn't had dreams like that in a long time, this one more vivid then the last. They really made no sense to her, she didn't understand them or have any clue of the events that took place in her dreams.

Letting out a shaky breath, Piper gently pulled herself out of Elle grasp, wiping her brow tiredly, avoiding the other woman gaze at all costs. Whether she felt embarrassed or scared, she wasn't sure which. Everything was a bit muddled inside and she was feeling the fatigue hit her once again. She needed more sleep but in all honestly, going back to sleep made Piper a bit nervous.

Clearing her throat, feeling very awkward now, she half looked at Elle with the best okay looking expression that she could muster up. "I'm okay," she repeated softly. "you can go back to sleep, sorry if I woke you. I'm okay." she said, her voice trembling only the slightest. It almost seemed as if she was trying ton convince herself she was okay and not Elle.

Sitting back and making sure not to fall back off the bed, Elle tilted her head and tried her best to catch Pipers look but she could tell she was avoiding them. Was she embarrassed or did she know what Elle just did and didn't like it. Nervousness filled Elle but she stayed calmed and placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I didn't mean to scare you. You were worrying me so I needed to wake you."

Looking her up and down, Elle could still feel the anxiety but she didn't know from what. From the dream or from Elle.

"You didn't wake me. I was in the other room and I heard you crying out. Why don't you try and sit back and relax." Elle propped up some pillows for her and smiled. She didn't want to but she could help her get some sleep. It went against how she was again but if it would help Piper again, she would do it in a heart beat.

"Actually, this may seem weird but lay your head in my lap." Elle moved and sat her back against the base board and sat cross legged. She then placed a pillow in her lap and patted it. "Lay you head here. I'm going to do something I use to do for someone back where I use to live. She would have nightmares and I did this to help keep them away and her get deep sleep. Trust me." Elle gave her a recurring smile and waited. Without any worrying, Elle released a bit of a relaxant around them in hopes to help Piper relax and take the chance to lay her head down. She couldn't do it for to long because it took just as much energy as her running did and would also effect herself over time. She could use it in small amounts but the longer it was used, the hard it was to control.

A faint scowl crossed Piper's features as Elle mentioned waking her up. "You don't have to bite me you know, you couldn't just shaken me or something." she said with a sigh. Leaning over the edge of her bed, she picked up her word, wondering how the heck it'd got knocked down but didn't really question it as she placed it back where it had been before. Trying to stifle a yawn, Piper looked around the dark room. She could make out Elle's figure in the dark, still sitting near her as Piper just sat there.

She was surprised when Elle suddenly spoke, telling her to lay down with her head on her lap. Raising an eyebrow slightly, she wondered how the heck that would help and why she was even suggesting it. Lightly scratching her chin, she debated on it for a few moments before just giving in. Piper was to tired to try and argue at this hour.

Hesitantly, she lay down lightly as she could but ended up sinking into the pillow with a quiet sigh. Curling up slightly, Piper lay on her side, still a bit unwilling to close her eyes and sleep. Her body begged for it while she denied it. Twitching now and then, Piper just lay there, still as a stone. "Um...how will this help...? I mean, don't you need to sleep too? I don't want to bother you, I'll be fine." Twisting her head, she looked up at Elle's general direction, still not meeting her gaze but was at least looking at her face.

"I am usually nocturnal but I will admit to being tired. Once I know your sound asleep, I can sleep as well." Elle smoothed back Pipers hair from her face and took a deep breath. "So trust me, It will help. So all I need you to do is relax, close your eyes and breath deep."

Elle laid back against the head board and closed he own eyes. Should would need concentration for this part but she knew how to do it well. She had done it a million times before. If there was anything that she actually believed in when it came to this ability, it was this.

Releasing more relaxants into the air around her, she did her best to direct them to Piper. Very lightly, she started to hum a soft tune.

As she did her best to help Piper sleep and stay asleep, Elle remembered the time she did it before. She could still see the little girl that was placed in her cell for awhile. Overnight the girl would have horrible nightmares that would stop her from sleeping. That was when Elle learned that she could use this part of her for good instead of manipulation. So, every night, she would sit cross leg and place a pillow in her lap. She would use her power to put the girl to sleep while humming a gentle tune. The girl would relax and have a dreamless night. For a long time Elle did this, it even became something you look forward to. She was doing good in a day to day life style of fighting and killing.

As Elle hummed, a few tears fell from her closed eyes. Hopefully by now Piper would be asleep and wouldn't see her crying but she continued to hum and relax her. After a long time of doing this for the little girl, she one day woke up to her gone from the cell. She didn't see her for days...she wish she never saw her. When Elle was thrown back into the ring to fight someone knew, it was the little girl. Elle resisted fighting but then gave the girl a ton of blood and she lost her mind. She relentlessly attacked Elle and Elle did her best to stop her and calm her down. Nothing worked. Elle had to put her down and it crack the very foundation of what Elle was. She couldn't do it anymore. Right after that, Elle joined Jess to help break everyone out. But even so, the image of the girl still haunted her and it made her scared to use this anymore. But now it was being used for something good again. Elle smiled as she felt herself started to drift off as well.

Piper nodded slightly, watching Elle for a moment before turning her head into the pillow lightly. Exhaling slowly, she sighed softly and closed her eyes. She wasn't except anything except just lay there with her head in Elle's lap so when she started humming, Piper's eyes flew open in surprise. Glancing up, she looked at the other woman curiously but didn't question. Closing her eyes once again, she allowed herself to relax, her ears only hearing the soothing sounds. She was easily lulled back to sleep, falling into a peaceful quiet rest. Curling up into the warmth of the other person, Piper fell into a deeper sleep. The night terrors didn't return for the rest of the night and Piper slept well past the sunrise.

When she woke next, it was well after 10 in the morning. Stirring some, her eyes cracked open to be greeted with sunlight right in her face. Shutting her eyes quickly, she just lay there, dozing a bit as her mind rewound to last nights events. A slight frown crossed her face as her nightmare returned to her mind. Awake now, it didn't frighten her as much but it still haunted her thoughts. A low breath passed through her mouth as just lay there, unsure if Elle was awake or not. She wasn't sure she wanted to find out just yet so Piper just lay there half asleep, not really in a rush to do anything in particular.

Elle didn't expect to sleep much that night, but soon some time after she was sure that Piper was sleep, she fell into a deep sleep. The cold of the room and all the fighting made her fall into a deep sleep. She didn't dream of anything that night, but it was a deep enough sleep that it left her still all night.

The next morning, Elle slept with her fallen on her side. Her legs were still crossed and the pillow still in her lap or Piper. Opening her eyes and trying to sit up, she noticed that her body was stiff and it hurt from where she was bent sideways. She would need to go stand in the sunlight to warm herself in a moment but she didn't want to wake Piper just yet.

Since Elle did hear Piper cry our from anything last night, Elle assumed that she was able to sleep with out a nightmare. Not being able to help it, Elle smiled and looked at her from where she laid. She had to do it. Very slowly, she reached her hand forward and poked Pipers cheek with the pad of her finger. She held it there for a second then removed her finger. Her skin was soft and warm under her finger and it made her smile more. Closing her eyes, she did her best to stretch without waking Piper.

Elle herself was about to close her eyes and slip back off to sleep but in the distance, a scream came from the city.

Sitting upright quickly, Elle looked to the window. Her eyes were wide. Did everything already start? Would they really come out this soon?

"Piper, wake up. Something is wrong." She shook the girl lightly by the shoulder but continued to look towards the window. "I heard screaming..."

Sliding out from under Piper, she walked out of the room and went to the large window and opened the curtains. On the streets, mayhem was everywhere. There were some bodies scattered around here and there. She could see some oddly dressed people attacking others violently, some just killing and some eating them. Elle covered her mouth to keep in a cry of disgust. How was this possible? They were moving in too fast. Elle watched, not really paying much attention to anything else and noticed something strange. In the middle of the street were two people circling each other. One seemed to be dressed like a normal person while the other was someone like Elle. They were dressed in all back with rip up clothes. Others surrounded them, cheering and screaming at them. From the widow she could tell what was about to happen. The one in black crouched low, ready to pounce. Elle was sure the other was screwed but what she noticed was unexpected. The person, who Elle noticed was a women, dodged and raised her hands up and directed them at her attacker, From around her body, a electric bolt sprang forth and hit the attack in the chest. The attack sparked on the ground as everyone scattered scared. It was another natural like Piper. They knew what was happening.

"Piper, we need to.." Before she could finish her sentence, she watched several of her kind pile through the doors to the hotel. They knew she was hear. Elle could imagine her scent was here and it was attracting them.

"They're coming!" Elle ran for her whip and ran for her bag. Before she made it, a scream came from the hall past the door and their own door was kicked opened.

Bullets rang through the air as Elle dropped to the ground and rolled away. Three of her kind piled in with their weapons drawn.

Piper's face twitched slightly as she felt someone poking her face, crinkling her nose slightly before relaxing. She could feel the other person moving but didn't think much of it, just lay there peacefully. That is until Elle shook her, telling her wake up. Groaning, she rolled over sleepily, she looked over at theater woman a bit confused, clearly not hearing whatever the heck she heard. "Screaming? Where? I can't hear anything..." she mumbled, voice thick with sleep. Yawning, she rubbed her eyes and sat up slowly, stretching along the way as she watched Elle a bit puzzled.

Frowning, she got up and padded over quietly to where Elle stood at the window. Peering around her taller friend, her eyes shot open in horror as she took in the sight in front of her. Blood and bodies scattered the streets, the ones standing were fighting, some were...eating? That made her want to vomit. Backing away with a sickened expression, her gaze darted over to Elle, hoping she had an explanation for what was going on. Was it that war that'd been mentioned when they first met? She mind barely registered what Elle was starting to say, the imagine of dead bodies and other...
things feeding off of the dead bodies.

A near by scream jolted her from her thoughts. Whirling around, she caught sight of Elle grabbing something from her bag. As the door was kicked down, Piper snatched up her sword, moving behind the walls and gunshots rang out through the air. With the door open, she could hear more chaos happening elsewhere in the hotel. Clutching her sword, her gaze darted around, locating their things. Keeping that in mind, she moved out from behind the wall, her eyes instantly locking in on the intruders. One look told her they had weapons. A second told her they were strong. Just looking at them, she couldn't see any difference between her and them but something told her they were like Elle. Perhaps it was the bloodlust look shadowing their eyes. It was scary, Piper had never had to deal with something like this before.

Shutting down her thoughts, she moved to dodge the bullets flying through that air at her. Managing to deflect one of them, she ran from the other two. As soon as the gun stopped firing, she launched herself at them. She had no idea what they were like, what skills they possessed and how dangerous they could potentially be. But none of that bothered her. She simply fought to protect herself and her friend. Although she figured Elle could handle herself pretty well.

One seemed to be ridiculously fast and with the aid of his knives, she couldn't really keep up with him and was barely deflecting his blows. Another, a female, seemed to have extra strength, her appearance reminding Piper of a lion while using daggers of sorts. The third with the gun, she had no idea where the heck they went but was to busy dodging the two attacking her to try and look for them. "Elle?! What the heck is going on here?!" she yelled slashing at the female angrily, her blood boiling. First she was woken before she wanted to be and right after, greeted with a horrible sight. "And you! You'll pay for disrupting my slumber." she growled, her demeanor changing to one of a very pissed off woman that you shouldn't mess with. Gripping her katana tighter with one hand, blue fire started to flicker off the blade like an outline making the sword glow as she glared at them, her eyes colder then ice, her flames burning hotter then the pits of hell.

Elle rolled away again, evading more bullets as the rang in the air. One grazed the side of her shoulder but she ignored it and kept moving. Piper seemed to be pissed and handling her side pretty well, but if they ganged up on her, they would kill her. They were here for her, thats it. They could smell her. Her scent was not only sweet and strong to Elle, but it was also so for the ones that are attacking. Jumping up onto the table, she flicked her wrist and felt her whip coil around the foot of a guy. She pulled hard and saw him fall the ground with a grunt. She heard a crack as he fell, landing badly on his knee. His free hand went to cover his now-sideways bent knee. Elle, seeing a chance, pounced quickly and pinned him to the ground, kicking the gun from his hand as she did. He struggled but didn't have the chance to scream before she plunged her clawed fingers underneath his sternum. Blood spurted onto her arm, and she twisted her hand once with a grimace and jerked it free. He wouldn't be getting up again. Some of the blood had splashed onto her face and neck, the smell was overpowering. It was a disgusting smell that made Elle want to vomit, but she kept going.

Looking up, she could see the other two approaching Piper. Elle growled and jumped up and used her whip to jerk one of the daggers out of the woman hands, and directing her attack to Elle instead of Piper. The dagger clattered to the floor by Elle and she kicked it towards the dead man.

"Think you can handle yourself?" Elle called out to Piper as she faced off with the woman. "Let see if you can use that sword of yours."

Taking advantage of the conversation to strike while Elle's attention was elsewhere, the woman slashed fiercely with her knife aimed at Elle's waist. Her lips pulled back into a snarl, her canines elongated underneath her wild golden eyes. Elle jumped back, forcing the lion-like woman to pursue her. Elle felt her own lips parting, revealing her own fangs in order to appear the largest threat. She cracks her whip sharply in the woman's face causing her to pull back. The woman's cheek had a light cut on it from where the tip of the whip had struck.

Elle lifted her arm to strike with the whip again when the woman crouched, lunging with her knife point first at Elle's stomach. Elle twisted to avoid it backpedaling swiftly to avoid the next slashes. The woman's eyes met Elle's and she dove sideways to avoid the whip headed towards her. Her fingers curled around the discarded dagger as she rolled back onto her feet. Elle cracked the whip towards the woman's face and closed the distance to use her claws to strike the woman's defending arm before separating to make distance. Her claws were secreting a concentrated localized paralytic venom. The woman's arm should become useless within a minute.

Taking advantage of the range, the woman dropped the daggers and gripped Elle's wrist, throwing her across the floor to rest under the window. Elle got on her feet and braced herself as the woman charged at her with both daggers and Elle spun aside and snap-kicked the woman behind the knee having her hit the floor awkwardly. Before the woman could rise Elle grabbed her head from behind and twisted, hearing the abrupt crack and feeling it reverberate in her palms sent a sickening chill through her and she stepped back sharply, fighting to hold her stomach down. Elle turned to see how Piper was doing as she bent down to pick up the whip she'd dropped when she was thrown.

"Me? I'll be just fine." Piper called back with a scoff as she smirked at the two in front of her. Bother were eyeing her sword, hesitating now. Taking this opportunity, she lunged at the speed demon and swung her sword with expertise. Elle's whip slightly startled her but she just let her take on the woman. This annoying speed demon was giving her one hell of a time and she was getting increasingly pissed off by the second. Piper didn't want to fully release her powers, not really interested in burning the whole building down beneath their feet. When this was all over, she very much intended to gather all their things and then flee this place.

As the guy ran around, he swung his knives at her, not exactly close enough or hard enough to seriously harm her but enough to rip at her clothing or nick her skin. It was done mockingly and it was clear on his face he didn't think she could compare to his ability level. Growling, she stopped moving, letting her senses flood her mind and become sharper as she watched and listened for his next movements. A moment later, she lashed out, sending a powerful kick to the guys chest. The blow threw him into the wall, momentarily stopping his movement. Lunging, she knocked away his weapons and slashed a deep wound across one hand.

Piper wasn't exactly one for dealing killing moves, she'd rather just inflict strategic blows so they simply could no longer fight. If someone else wanted to kill, they could go for it. Piper would only kill if she really had to and she was getting the unsettling feeling that she might have to.

Even without his weapons and an injured hand, the guy could still race around at high speeds. It seemed as if he was getting faster by the second. A consistent rain of blows landed down on Piper as she got knocked around, unable to keep up. At some point, he'd retrieved his knife and was now slashing at her wildly.

"Argh you are seriously annoying me! You know what? Forget it, I'm burning you to ashes." she grouched. A second later, the room exploded with blue fire as it rolled off her body in waves. It licked at the curtains and furnature, eating away at everything it could reach, including the idiot who was attacking her. Flashing a grin as she located the guy, she lunched an attack. Bring her sword down, she slashed at his legs and up across his torso. It sickened her to see so much blood but it had to be done.

Turning away from the sight, she looked around for a moment. "Let's grab what we can and go. My fire is unstoppable at this point and soon the building will fall." she said barely looking over at Elle as she made her way through the mess and into the bedroom. Grabbing her bag, she stuffed everything she could into it. Clothes, food, soaps, combs, whatever, hoping Elle would grab the rest. Her katana never left her hand, blood still dripping from it as she moved around.

Elle watched Piper, with the few moments she after killing the lion women, and noticed that things were not going to well. The guy had a lot more training to her but she was still able to protect herself. Elle also noticed how her flames reacted to the way she handed the situation. Elle was about to jump in and help but without much warning, blue flames shot out everywhere and nocked Elle backwards. The flames licked at her arm as she tried to over herself from the minor explosion of blue flamed. Instantly her arm was burned and she cried out in pain. Everything in the room was on fire and the heat was extreme.

Pushing herself up, Piper held onto her damaged arms as she grabbed the rest of the stuff.

Fire alarms started to go off in the building and when the went into the hallway, all of the other customers were filing out. Some were running without there things while others were lugging there most important out with them. The hallway flashes red and white, making everything blur together. Grabbing Pipers hand with her good one, she held on as she pushed her way out through. They couldn't go out the front, where all the other likes her were waiting. They needed to find another way out so they could get out unseen. One good thing that may have come from the fire, the smoke would mask their scents and they may become untraceable for some time.

"We need to get to the roof!" Elle yelled through the screaming people. If they could make it to the roof, they could jump to the next and get out without being killed or trampled. She would lead but she didn't know anything about this building or where to even go.

Looking over at Elle as they fled the room, Piper nodded slightly to show she'd heard her. She noticed the burned arm later and instantly felt guilty about it. Quite shamefully to say, Piper had forgotten she was in the room as well and felt bad about burning her. Unfortunately, there was no way she could undo that but she did know how to treat it at least. Mentally schooling herself, she continued to run alongside the other woman.

It became clear enough that there was no way the pair of them would be able to get downstairs quick enough with this whole mess in front of them. Hopefully the people could get out safely. Hearing Elle tell her they should head to the roof, Piper nodded and instantly switched directions. Pulling Elle along behind her, Piper forced their way through the throng of people, running down to a different stairwell that was somewhat less crowded.

"I hope you have a plan once we get up there!" Piper yelled over all the noise. Finding the door she was looking for, she kicked it down harshly. Stepping out, they found themselves on one of the lower rooftops of the hotel, looking over the entire town. The fire she'd start had started to spread due to the winds picking it up and moving it to near by buildings. Sighing, Piper looked around with a deep frown. "I really hate this power sometimes." she muttered to herself, very unhappy about this all now.

Brushing that aside, Piper moved over to the edge some, she peered over, adjusting her bag some in thought. To high to jump as far as she could tell. Turning to Elle, she spoke again. "I'm sorry about your arm, I can fix it once we get out of this. Any ideas?" she asked raising an eyebrow slightly.

As they reached the building, Elle took in a deep breath of fresh air. She could still smell the smoke in it but it was a lot better then it was in the building. Thanks to this, Elle had come to realize how much she relied on her other scenes when it come to anything. When she was in the halls that filled with smoke, she had low vision, smell and she couldn't hear a thing through the screaming of hundreds rushing out of the building. It also did help because it blended in with the mad screams of those who were killing the humans. Running to each edge of the building and saying nothing, Elle tried her best to determine the way they should get down. As she passed by Piper, she heard the mutter about her power and it made Elle stop.

"Hey, look. You could be born with a lot worse. I knew a guy who was infused with a worm. Your gift can be powerful and beautiful, you just need to learn to use it properly and not let emotions control it. I know you can do it." She patted Piper on the head and then ran again to the far left side of the building.

"Fuck, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do this but it way to far for me to drop. It would kill us both and if we lived, they would kill us." The streets were swarming with people fighting. Both of their kinds hashing it out. Elle wanted nothing to do with it. Looking up at the building next to this one, it was close enough to jump to but the building was a business building made of glass. She didn't even know what kind. They would have t jump across and break through the glass. Elle had power in her legs and thats what gave her the speed but she didn't know if Piper could even jump that far. She would have to carry her across, which made things more difficult.

"Fuck!" Elle screamed as she paced back and forth, staring that the window she was going to go through. She had to do it. It was going to hurt but she had to.

Turning around and grabbing Pipers cloak and placed it on the girls shoulders, tying it tight and hiding her face in the hood.

"Looks like we are going to visit next door my friend, sha...." Before the sentence could finish, the door to the roof busted open and several people came out onto the roof. They followed one who had opened its mouth wide and screeched into the air with an unnatural human sound. Elle's eye widen in fear because she knew that scream.

"Time to go!" Without any warning, Elle wrapped her up tight, lifted her bridal style and ran towards the end of the roof and to the other building. She only had one shot at this. If they fell, it would kill them. If they stayed, they would be ripped apart. None seemed fun but the falling sounded quicker. Using half her energy, she ran and hit the edge, then using all of it at once, Elle pushed off with one leg and released a surge of power. The power turned her around so that her back now faced the window and Elle was protected by her body. The force caused her to launch across with enough speed.

Smiling as if everything was in slow motion, the smile fell when she was turned completely around. At the edge, reaching for them, was the man that she feared. He had reached out to grab them with his claws but only missed her face by inches. Her eyes met his and her body went cold from his deadly gaze. Because of him, she didn't even remember that she was about to impact the glass.

Hitting the glass at a high speed, she crashed through and landed on her back into the office building. With the impact of floor, Elle released Piper so she wouldn't have much impact damage and they separated.

Elle rolled to a stop and tried her best to get up but everything hurt and glass was sticking out everywhere. The people int he building scream and ran from the scene but Elle couldn't even look up yet.

Piper said nothing as Elle remarked on her remark, not in the mood to really discuss it at the moment. Instead, she just looked over the side of the building, wondering how the heck they were going to escape this mess. Clicking her teeth in annoyance, Piper bent down and snatched up some random things flying around. Carefully wiping the blood off her sword, she sheathed it and hooked it around her waist once more.

When she looked back at Elle, she seemed to be talking to herself about who knows what. She couldn't really hear half the things she was saying to all the chaos down below. An eyebrow lifted as the other woman cussed loudly, faintly amused by this for whatever reason. Smiling some, Piper just turned away for a moment, analyzing the situation once again to try and see if she could think of anything.

She barely got anywhere when she was suddenly yanked into the white haired girl, her hood being yanked over her face. A scream was sound. Piper was just turning her head when all the sudden, they were flying through the air. A shriek ripped from her throat as she clung to Elle, not at all expecting something like this. Heights didn't sit to well with Piper anyway and now flying through it was enough to make her really sick. Everything passed by so fast, Piper could barely register cold eyes locking in on her friend or the fear radiating off of Elle or the fact a second later, they crashed through a window on the other side.

Piper found herself flying through the air and landing harshly against something hard and ridged. Coughing, she scrambled to her feet, looking around wildly through the blind panic that had followed after their entrance. Elle wasn't to far off but one look told Piper there was no way she could do anything. Running over, Piper just placed a hand lightly on her head. "Shh, lie still. Don't move." she commanded, eyes darting around at the faces. They all looked like normal people to her but that could easily be false.

"This...might hurt a bit...bare with me and let me handle things now." she decided standing up. Adjusting her things, she grabbed both bags and slung them over her body before lifting Elle up the best she could without hurting her to much. Half carrying, half dragging the other woman, Piper made her way through the building quickly. Luckily, or not, the building wasn't that tall. Taking an elevator down, she pulled Elle down to the parking garage. It was considerably cooler and quieter but Piper didn't let her guard down.

"Stay here." she told Elle, propping her against the wall gently. Turning, she disappeared down the rows of cars. Scanning them, she spotted some sports on and ran over to it. Smashing a window and sticking her head in, she studied it for a moment. Jumping starting cars wasn't exactly easy. In this kinda building, there should be a place where all they keys were kept since people paid others to park for them. Lazy louts.

It only took her 3 minutes to find a little toll booth type thing. It was abandoned and the door was open. Entering, she grabbed a few keys and started pressing buttons to see which was connected to which car. Finding another car that Piper decided would work best, she jumped in and shot back over to where she'd left Elle.

"I'm back, lets bounce!" she called skidding to a stop next to the injured girl. Tossing the bags in the passenger seat, she lifted and somehow got her friend into the back. The door slammed open, reveling a couple of what appeared to be Elle's kind. Flashing a nervous but cocky little grin, Piper waved and shut the door of the car. "See ya!" she called before diving into the drivers seat and slamming her foot down on the gas. The car jumped forward and flew down the rows of cars as Piper maneuvered the car outside where the fighting had no ceased. If anything, it was worse. Gritting her teeth and muttering curses to herself about who knows what, Piper just floored it and drove in some direction, away from the mess.

Elle phased in and out as Piper dragged her around and got them out of the building. She used up a lot of energy to get them through the window and away from that man, so he didn't have much to get her body moving and healed. So, concealing the little energy she had left, she black out most of the way. She wanted to stay awake so she could protect Piper if needed but her body wouldn't follow her commands. After hitting the floor in the building and trying to get up, she had her first black out. She then woke for a moment to help get down to the parking garage but blackout the moment they made it into the elevator. She then woke to find herself sitting against the cement wall of the place filled cars and no Piper. Panic started to move in. Did Piper leave her behind? Was she taken and killed? Looking down at herself, she started to slowly take the pieces of glass in her arms out. She could only start on one since the other still didn't feel right after the burning she got.

Feeling sickness swirl in her stomach, Elle stopped pulling glass and looked around again.

"Piper?" She tried to call out. Her voice was just a whisper. She could feel the blackness coming back. She needed to conserve her energy but she also needed to get out before someone found her. The going through the window may have been a stupid idea but she couldn't let that man get Piper or her. She had seen some horrible things and met some bad people but out of all of them, he was the worse. She was positive that he followed her scent from place they kept her. Now he knew she had Piper and Elle could imagine that only made him want to get to them more. Did he follow them? He wasn't much of a jumper, so he wouldn't be able to make it across but she didn't know how long she had been out. He could appear at any moment and kill her. And where was Piper?

Did she really leave her to die in this chamber of cement and metal. Elle wanted to believe in the best but her fear was taking over. Looking forward, darkness striated to swim in her vision. Everything started to get blurry as a car pulled up and a familiar figure came out and grabbed her. The moment she hit the back seat, she was out again.

Not knowing how long she had been out, Elle slowly opened her eyes and looked around. She was laying in the back of a nice car with Piper in the driver seat. Blood covered the back seat from where Elle had been bleeding but it seemed to be mostly dried. That meant that most of the bleeding had stopped.

"I thought you left me?" Elle whimpered out as she tried to sit up. Failing, she fell back down and cried out. There was large shard of glass sticking out of her side and it made it hard to move her leg. She needed to remove the glass but she also needed to stop the bleeding. The glass was keeping her wounds from pouring out blood but it was also stopping her healing process. "I'm glad you didn't."

Reaching for her lef, Elle removed the large shard and bite her lip to keep from whimpering in front of Piper. Blood started to ooze from the seat but it was slow. The healing had already started. She didn't know how much energy she had left to heal but she had to try. She used to much energy out of fear of that man when he busted through the window. She could of used half and still make it through. She would still be in good condition if she hadn't been stupid and let her fear take control. Reaching again, she removed another from her stomach and scream when she didn't realize how deep that one was. She should of kept that in.

"Fuck..." She leaned her head back and kept her hand over her bleeding stomach. She needed it to heal.

Blue eyes glanced over a shoulder as the while haired woman spoke, whimpering quietly. Piper frowned slightly and studied the wounded girl through the rearview mirror, worry flashing across her face, etching deep into her features as she gaze turned back to the road. "Of course not." she murmured more to herself then Elle. Before she could say anything else, a scream ripped through the mostly quiet car, startling Piper. Jerking the wheel, the car swerved dangerously for a moment as Piper quickly pulled the vehicle under control again.

"Jesus Elle." she muttered with a faint scowl. Looking around, she searched for a place she could pull over and treat Elle's injuries. Somewhere with water would certainly be nice but she wasn't really sure where they were, Groaning in frustration, she just pulled off the road just inside some woods. Whether it was the same Elle had found her in she didn't really know. "Alright, pit stop. Do you think you can get out of the car so we can clean you up?" Piper asked jumping out and running around to the back. She shook her head as soon as she saw her friend. "Scratch that, don't move. I'll just tend to you here."

Reaching around to the front, Piper grabbed her bag and started rummaging through it. Frowning, she set that aside and grabbed Elle's bag, looking through it. Finding the old worn clothes, she grabbed them and decided it'd be okay to rip them up. Grabbing a water bottle from her bag, she took part of a shirt and soaked it in water. Turning back to Elle, Piper did her best not to make any faces as she studied her the wounds. "Well, that glass certainly did a number on you. Can't say I got away scot free but I'll be fine for now." she remarked, a slight amused smile creeping through.

"Anyway...this might hurt. Or not, try not to kill anyone while I'm fixing you." she joked. Dabbing the bloodied areas, she cleared away as much blood as she could so the actual injury showed. Most seemed to be healing on their own but there were a couple that seemed pretty deep. Frowning, Piper wasn't totally sure what to do with the deeper ones. She could wrap them but she wasn't sure how well that'd work. Looking at the glass in her side, she didn't touch it but poisoned to it. "We gotta get rid of that. And there's one in your back I think." she reported promptly.

"Is there water around here? I could really use some more..." she muttered thinking aloud as she poured more water on a clean piece of cloth and gently wrapped it around the burned arm. She had medicine for the burns but if Elle just healed on her own, no point in using it. If burns didn't heal naturally she'd use the medicine stuff.

When the car stopped and Piper started working on her, Elle did her best not to cry out. She bite her own lip hard as everything happened. When glass was removed, her body naturally started to close the wound and fix everything. Some of the bigger ones took longer but they were working the best they could.

When Piper got close, the smell of her blood drifted into Elle's nose. She clutched at the seat and closed her eyes. Naturally her body was wanting more of Piper's blood but there was no dangerous need of it. Her body could heal on its own but in this stage, Piper's blood smelled stronger.

She did her best to ignore it and let Piper work on her.

"I may have to get out to get the large pieces..." Elle opened her eyes to look at Piper. That was a mistake. Elle's eye picked up a tricky of blood coming from a cut on Pipers collar bone. Instinct took over and Elle grabbed Piper by the arms and moved her body into a blur, switching them so that Piper was laying against the seats and Elle was pinning her down. Both of her eyes were red now. The gold one was gone for the moment. Leaning down, she licked the blood off of Pipers collar bone and hovered her mouth over the one spot she had bite before. She was about to bite down by she stopped. She couldn't do it again to Piper. Just was quickly as she switched them, Elle pushed herself away and fell out of the car. She hit her head against the top of the door and fell on her back.

Naturally she cried out as she landed on the glass in her back but she stay put and cursed at herself.

"I deserve that...sorry."

It really shouldn't have been a surprise to Piper anymore as she suddenly found herself against the seats, the white haired woman looming over her. Not resisting, she just lay there silently, letting her do whatever it was that she did. To an extent, she gathered that Elle wouldn't ever intentionally hurt her however, the whole bloodsucking part made her uneasy. Who knew how far that could escalate and what the results would be. Nevertheless, she didn't want to find out. Piper knew she really would stab the other woman if she felt herself in any danger. Weather that was an effective way to get her to stop, she had no clue.

Blue eyes sliding to look at the red ones, Piper just watched, waiting for the bite as her neck was being licked (yet another thing she was growing used to). When Elle pushed herself away, falling out of the car, Piper had to say she was a bit surprised. Her body just there on the seats, her brain working to process what had happened. The cry from her friend got an automatic response from Piper. Sitting up and rolling over to peer out of the car, she saw Elle on the ground, the bass embedded deeper into her back.

Exhaling slowly, she got up and out of the car, crouching near Elle. "I don't think I'd go as far to say that you deserved that. But that's a conversation for another time. I need to get that glass out of your back now. I'm sorry if it hurts and please try not to kill me but..." Pushing Elle onto her stomach swiftly and gripping the glass, the sharp edges cutting into her hand, she yanked as hard as she could. The glass, a bit stubborn at first didn't move but as Piper pulled, came free, bring a wave of blood with it.

Throwing it aside, she panicked a bit at all the blood, instinctively using part of her torn shirt to try and mop up the bloody mess. Her hands and body ached from her own wounds and if she was being honest, she was still in a slightly irritated mood from such a rude awakening. Watching Elle worriedly, she remained tensed. unsure how her friend was going to react.

The moment the glass slide out of her skin, Elle cried out in pain. She could feel the warmth of her own blood spill out but she closed her eyes and focused. The wounded needed to be closed or she would bleed out. How the hell was she gonna survive if she kept bleeding everything they were attacked. Jumping to the window was a stupid idea but it was better than being killed by that man. She would rather die by his hands then let him ever have Piper. He wouldn't just kill her, he would do anything and everything horrible to her slowly while draining her.

Soon the blood started to slow but Elle still felt weak and cold.

"I can't believe it happened already. I thought we would have more time before they were released and I thought there would be a system. They are just out there slaughtering anything that is in their paths."

Elle thought that the government would have gone with its original plan but apparently they wanted to start early.

Rolling over onto her back and sitting up, Elle watched her tense friend.

"I'm alright. Look.." She turned to show her back. The wound was already starting to close up. "Your blood yesterday is still in me and with that I will heal. I may not be as strong as I was when I first had it but I will be okay."

Without knowing, one of Elle's eyes had turned red again. Piper was bleeding from some glass as well and the smell was overpowering. Elle ignored it so she didn't do what she had just done in the car. Would would have happened if she didn't stop herself? She remembered Piper just laying there and not reacting. She openly laid there and trusted her.

"You...why didn't you attack me back? What if I didn't stop or I had turned like the other?"

Elle's would be red if she had enough blood in her body to even blush. She was ashamed of herself again. Feeling a bit dizzy, Elle leaned forward towards Piper and rested her head on her shoulder. She could still smell the blood but she only needed a second to get her body in order.

"I know we shouldn't stay here long but...man that window was thicker then I thought" She tried to joke.

Piper made no real remark as she watched Elle closely, making sure she was okay. She barely nodded as she was shown the healing back, still not really convinced that Elle was okay. Piper's blue eyes flickered briefly to the red ones in front of her, wondering if she still craved blood. She also wondered what the effect of her blood even had on Elle. To her, it just seemed to help her heal and physically become stronger for a short period of time. But long term? She had no clue and she wasn't sure if she wanted to know.

"Well, at least you knew it was to happen eventually. No one knew anything about any of this. Even I don't really to be quite honest, it's quite hard to wrap your head around." Piper remarked, wiping her bleeding hands on the grass some. It wasn't like her wounds were terrible, just a bunch of scratches and open cuts. She sighed and pulled her tattered shirt to her hand, pressing down to stop the flow of blood while checking her other minor wounds. Nothing major was found, it was Elle she was more concerned about.

Looking up when Elle questioned her, Piper only blinked and stared at her. The joke that followed got a small laugh but it soon faded away. "I don't know really" she answered standing up slowly. Stetting with a sigh, Piper glanced around before looking down at Elle. "I felt no reason to. If I felt like it would've ended badly, I would've punched you or something. In short, I trust you to know you limits and if you ever get to crazy and out of control, I'll kick your butt." she replied, pretty nonchalant about the whole thing.

Flashing a brief smile, she tossed the rag aside, peeling off her shirt as well. Leaning inside the car, she grabbed a fresh one and pulled that over her head. "But anyhow, as you said. We should get a move on it. Just sit up front or rest in the back, I'll take care of the driving. I think I grabbed some supplies if you're hungry? Not actually sure...anyway, lets hop to it shall we?" she asked moving towards the car a bit while still looking at the injured woman in front of her.

"I don't know what's going to happen to this world in the end. I don't know what will happen to my kind or yours. Someone will have to come out on top. Maybe the humans will have a chance if they can find a weakness." Elle pushed herself up as she talked, her body scream out in pain but she managed her best and stood. "I don't even know what will happen to me but..." Elle stumbled and fell against the car. A small whimper escaped her lips but she balanced herself and continued forward "I need you to promise me something. I know you say that you trust me and you would kick my butt but I want you to kill me." Elle pushed into the front seat of the car and moved very carefully.

Elle waited until her friend was in the car with her before she continued.

"Every day I lived in those cages, I dreamed of a life out here. A normal one like the humans but I always felt that it was a dream far off. Jess got us together and helped us use our strength to escape. Little did we know that they never planned on stopping us. But I still won't play their game of war. Don't let me because one of them. I think we can coexist and live peacefully but if I turned, I would attack you and try to kill you. I would be no better than them. If I lose my mind, please end it for me." The last few words that came from her mouth were starting to sound clearer as her body was healing.

"We need to find a place away from the city. A safe place that no one will come to yet. They will go through and take out the major cities.Sociey will break down and humans will sadly start their own wars in smaller places. We need to find a safe haven."

Elle turned her head to watch Piper as she drove. She was still hungry but it had started to go down during the healing process. Who knew how long that would last.

Watching Elle carefully as she got herself into the car, Piper again remained silent as she spoke. The only real sign that proved she'd heard the other girl was the slightly lifting of an eyebrow as she stood in thought for a moment. Shifting into the drivers seat, she quickly pulled the car into motion, her gaze shifting to the rearview mirror often; checking on Elle and not for more creatures. Soon enough, they were speeding down the street to who knows where.

When she was told to end her friends life if she went to far next time. Near stomping her foot on the gas, Piper whipped around in her seat, somehow keeping the car under control. Her blue eyes flashed angrily as she looked Elle dead on for a good long moment before turning back around. Mouth set in a thin line, Piper said nothing for a few moments before answering her friends request. "No."

"I will not kill you just because of something like that. You lose control? So what, I'll bring you back, don't doubt me. Don't even bother worrying about that, to many other things to worry about first. I'll deal with that when that happens. Till then, you'll get a taste of what life is like out here, to an extent." she said firmly, leaving no room for an argument, at least not at the moment. Turning the wheel, she pulled away from the main roads and onto the back ones, break a few speed limits on the way.

If they weren't running for their lives, Piper would've enjoyed the rule breaking a bit more. Even having been on the run from home for awhile she was still used to just following rules. And now she was getting to break them all. The police would have other things to worry about soon enough anyway, one person speeding a bit wouldn't be an issue.

"For location and getting away from cities, I know a few places that are away from the majority of human society. We'd just need to stock up on supplies, mainly food and water. First aid things come next and then clothes. I figure we'll be moving a lot in general so some more bags would probably be good...hm. Forest area? Beaches? Mountains? All of them? Take your pick."

The moment Piper hit the gas, Elle fell backward from the force and gasped from the sudden motion. She was not used to being in cars and this was the longest she had ever been in one.

She was going to try and argue with Piper but from the girls tone and due to the fact that she was controlling the car, she didn't say a word. She was in shock from what the girls was saying. How could Piper be okay with the fact that Elle could turn at any moment? When Piper was done speaking, she only nodded and watched the girl drive.

"The mountain area might be good. We would have the high ground and the landscape to give us cover. Most of the lesser ones will attack large populated areas. The stronger ones I can guess are waiting. The stupid little hands of the government. Maybe they are trying to cut down the human population before the battles start." Elle climbed out of the back seat and into the front so they talk easier. Her whip was clutched in her hands, ready to be used at any moment.

"I think we should stop and get supplies. Find a store that may..." Before Elle could finish her sentence, she looked out the window as they drove past the parking lot of a large shopping center. People were running around fighting or stealing. "Well, this is a problem..."

They needed to find a place where they could safely stock up on supplies. Where could they go?

Elle tried to remember human culture and the different things that they had. Stores and shops but now those places were being destroyed by humans.

They would need food and medical supplies like Piper mentioned but where could they safely get those.

Elle looked out the window again and saw a blue sign with a white H on it.

"Hospital..." The words came out slow as she tried to remember the meaning of it. "Hospital. Doctors. Nurses. Sick. Wounded....supplies. SUPPLIES!"

Elle turned to Piper and pointed towards the direction of the hospital.

"The hospital will have supplies! We can get medical supplies and maybe even food and clothes for now!" Elle's excitement was clear was she bounced slightly in her seat. She had never been to a hospital. They only had medics that came to the cells to make sure you weren't dead and you were healing right. If you were really bad off, instead of curing them, they would kill them.

"If the hospital is busy, we can easily sneak in if we are careful."

Nodding slowly, Piper sat thinking of the closest mountains they could escape to and how to get there. She had no idea how long the car would run and gas was a thing still. Humming to herself lightly, her eyes darted around as she drove past a largely populated area. Grumbling to herself, she taped the breaks some and navigated the streets swiftly. "What is this, a freaking end of the world thing? Not what I was expecting." she muttered to herself, eyes seeking out a store. As Elle mentioned supplies and pointed in the direction of a hospital, Piper glanced over and nodded slowly once again, a small smile forming as she watched her companion become extremely excited over her finding.

"Right, that would be good. Okay, I have a plan." she said quickly forming on in her head. Spinning the car around, she shot over towards the dull white building. Not exactly a fan of hospitals, Piper had no intentions on entering it. "Listen carefully, you're going in to get medical supplies. Just you. I can't stand being in those places." Piper paused, a brief look of sadness mixed with contempt cross her features before disappearing.

"Do not, and I repeat,
do not, stop to look at what's in there. Don't pick fights either, just shove people away or something. I trust you know what medical things to get? Bandages, uhh creams, pills, antidotes and so on. Find a bag and stuff it full. If anything, just get bandages. Meanwhile, I'm going to get food supplies somehow. Meet me over there if I don't come back in 10 minutes to get you." she said pointing to the far east where the base of the mountains sat. It was like a good 20 minute drive and like 40 minute walk but she knew Elle was fast and if she sped, it'd be like 10 minutes.

By the time she was done giving instructions, she'd pulled up in front of the huge building. Making a slight face at it, she glanced at Elle before basically shoving her out of the car. "Have fun in there, keep an eye on the time though. I better find you alive." she said before departing. Swiftly racing down the roads to a store not far off, she parked and shot out of the car, knowing it was risky to leave it unattended. Darting inside, she found a huge mess of food and blood, the scents mixing in the air.

Grabbing a book bag from a fall person, she glanced inside to find it already partly stocked with food. Quickly adding more things, mainly going for canned or boxed things that didn't stale to quickly. She flew by the first aid section to get basic things, hopefully Elle found more complex stuff for whatever. Once that was done, she left as fast as she came, avoiding other people at all costs. Throwing it all into the back of the car, she moved down the street to repeat the same with a clothing store fighting that she had a few extra minutes to spare.

This proved to be a bit more difficult since there were more humans and creatures. Pausing hesitantly, she entered a bit slower and thankfully she did because someone jumped out at her. Instantly recognizing it as one of the creatures like Elle, Piper drew her sword and stared it down. It was a male and it had a very wolfish grin on its face as he drank in her appearance. "Well, well, well. I wonder what I've found...you smell absolutely...delightful."

Elle watched Piper drive away and her automatic thought was that she was worried. What is she got ganged up on by those like her? What if she never made it to the meeting place? They should have stayed together. Nothing good ever comes from splitting up. She learned that the hard way several times during trails in the place they kept her.

The hospital lot was packed full of cars and ambulances were rushing in and out. Elle could imagine that they were getting calls left and right of the dead and injured but this also meant that the hospital would have full staff and also a ton of people. That would attract bad people and others looking for things like she was. She needed to find a quick but secret way in and out. Walking around the building quickly, Elle noticed the vents that were stationed here and there. Using her whip, she was able to pop open one of the vents and climb up and inside. She could navigate through the vents till she came to a storage room and collected what was needed. The vents were open enough and with her slender body, she could easily slip around. There were tons of cries of people and children who had been hurt. The announcements calling for doctors here and there went off. There were several code blues per minute. She didn't really understand what a lot of the codes meant but from the other sounds, she connected the dots. People were dying.

"Finally!" Elle found a pharmacy storeroom from a vent opening and waited till it was empty. When the last nurse left the room, all that was left was the pharmacist. Should couldn't just pop in attack him but she couldn't sit here and wait. Piper would be waiting for her soon and she didn't want her thinking that Elle was dead or hurt. She was gonna have to knock him out.

Using her nails, she clicked on the metal of the vents and allowed it to echo loud enough to get the man's attention. He looked up confused and waited to hear more. She clicked again. This time, he got up and grab a broom that was close to him. The man got right under the vent and tapped under her with the end of the broom. She waited till he lowered the broom and turned his head away and kicked out the opening. Quickly she dropped down over him and locked her arm around his neck. She wasn't going to kill him or choke him, but now he as passed out and she could lock the door.

She covered the glass door and even barricaded the door once it was locked. The room had everything they needed but she was running out of time. Grabbing her bag, she quickly went through the medications and started dumping things into the bag. She got bandages, needles, pills, oils, liquids, shots, and minor things. She found a room filled with blankets, scrubs, clothes, and other things as well. For most the things, she used pillow cases and also the pharmacists gym bag. How was she going to get these things out? She couldn't push them through the vents and she couldn't walk out without getting caught. With everything, she had two pillow cases, a Gym back and her own bag. Everything was stuffed.

Using a chair, she stood to reach the vent and hoped that she could fit through. The bags fit thankfully, so she came in from behind. As she moved, screams of panic erupted throughout the hospital. Gunshots echoed through the vents from the rooms that she was connected to. The hospital was under attack and she was now stuck in the middle with Pipers blood on her. She needed to get out before they smelt her.

Holding her sword out in front of her calmly, she allowed no room for wavering confidence to slip into her mind. Piper made no remark to the wolf looking creature, just studying it carefully to the best she could. She figured since it was part wolf, this man was probably a lot stronger than she was and probably faster to an extent. Who knows. She had no intentions on really trying to find that one out seeing it would undoubtably end terribly. Sighing in announce, Piper daring stepped forward and kept walking forward, her eyes trained on the wolf man in front of her while her ears listened for everything else. She was very well aware that her senses were a lot duller than all these creatures but she'd make due and it'd work somehow.

"I don't really care how I smell. Just get on with it before I rip you apart." she growled, finally losing her patience with this person in front of her. It was getting increasingly loud in the place and her head was starting to hurt a lot. Stepping forward suddenly and slashing diagonally, she cut the man in front of her, slipping past and racing down an isle of clothes. Snatching up a random bag along the way, she threw clothes in bag, keeping an eye out for the now very angry man wolf creature. As she was rounding a corner, he suddenly appeared with a very angry look. Giving a very fake sweet smile, Piper waved and thrust her sword through his shoulder before much could be said. Whirling around, the blade twisted deeply into the shoulder and the man howled in pain. Swiping angrily, claws extending from his hands ripped at her arm. Yelping in pain, Piper hopped back and attacked quickly once more before fleeing once again. "Run all you want but we can smell you girl!"

By now, Piper knew that any other creature in here could smell her blood and would be after it. Somehow, she managed to get through a few more isles, grabbing all sorts of things and tossing them into a bag, picking up another bag along the way to stuff full. "I swear this is like the freaking world ending but from weird ass creatures and not zombies." the young woman grumbled to herself, a very pissed off expression written across her features.

Once she decided she was done, she had about 3 bags crammed full of random clothes and materials. Racing for the exit, she shot out and over to where the car was. Throwing everything in and slamming the door shut, she dove for the drivers seat when a huge thing crashed right into her, tackling her into the ground roughly. In her quest for clothes, Piper had neglected to pay attention to where the creatures had disappeared to. "Found you." growled a voice.

As her initial shock subsided, Piper found herself looking up at the man wolf again who now was accompanied by 2 others that Piper could really figure out. They looked normal but she highly doubted they were anywhere near normal. "Oh wow, you got me. Big whoop." she responded with heavy sarcasm. She knew subconsciously that provoking three nonhuman creatures was mostly definitely
not the right idea, she was beyond annoyed. Her head and arm were hurting and now her back and she was still very annoyed about her rude awakening earlier in the day. Not to mention, she was still trying to grasp who she was and what these creatures were and what was going to happen now.

She was right in that her answer angered the ones above her but surprisingly, they still did nothing. They almost looked like they were waiting for something or someone. Not wanting to find that out, Piper started to wriggle under the man wolf, trying to get away but his grip tightened to something painful so she stopped. Scowling angrily, she tilted her head to search for her sword that had been knocked away. "I'd let me go if I were you. I wouldn't want you to...
burn." she threatened lowly, her eyes darkening like an angry ocean as fire slowly started to flicker and roll off her body.
