Fantasy The Return of Corruption

Cross couldn't stand this. His friends were getting stabbed and nearly killed. Then Arabelle started begging god to do something and save her family. "Don't ask that asshole for anything! God is the reason everything has happened. We are nothing but puppets to him and who knows how many other gods. We're just a show for them to watch! What makes you think that they will go out of their way to help us unless it benefited them?

Sandro stood up and limped to him. "I made this mistake too, so I'll give you this warning. Don't you tell her who she can and can't worship or pray to whomever she wants. I don't know who she is but I know Ari. And if Ari loves her, then I'll protect her in any way I can." He stopped to have his body racked by a fit of coughing. "Now listen" he whispered "the Gods are all ass holes. But not all of them. If this entire group decided to kill a bunch of cats, and you disagreed, what would you do? And imagine if you helped the cats we'd kill you too? Would you speak out and die, or wait to get a champion who can make it better, so you're not disobeying the higher ups? Use your BRAIN for once, and stop critiquing what she does. I don't care about Gods, and it fuels my silent hatred for them. I very rarely voice it. Though I do get where you're coming from. Just keep the hate silent. It may bite you in the ass if you don't. "

Ari stood up. He was panting and Elaina was on her knees crying at what could've just happened. "You're a fucking life-saver, Ceralder."

There were 13 demons outside. Now with all of them safe for the moment, they all turned their attention to Noam. Misty crashed in and out of the demons as much as her little body could. She jumped on one and bit its wings viciously, opening a small hole. The demon fell back into the pit as it struggled in vain to fly

12 demons left with more to come

Noam clawed his way up to the demon's head and grabbed it by the neck. He shoved it ferociously downwards towards the end point......and it moved. He smiled. He had full control now. He shoved the demon by the neck, sending it around to dodge the attacks

"I don't see a point in blaming the gods," Ethan said, waiting patiently for his turn. He said nothing throughout everything that happened with Noam and Ari. He only spoke up now because Alreos was a god, and he was talking to both Cross and Sandro. "In almost every tale, the humans prevail with the help of the gods. Arabelle has Tiresias's sight. Ari has Szelanya's wind. The gods planted Lightbringer in the Well. Though I'm not a human, Alreos turned me from a ball of instincts into a warrior and gave me my weapons. 5 years ago, Argon helped take out Amos.

"Even through this, Alreos has done what he could to make this easier. It used to be no 75%. It used to be whoever makes it leaves. There used to be no checkpoint. It was all or nothing."

"We ain't helpless pups. We may need their help, but we don't need them to do our work
for us."

Sandro tried to laugh, but really just coughed more blood. "The Gods haven't done shit for me, except try to kill me. I don't ask for their help because they don't give it unless they're some night in shining armor. No God cares about me or any of the common mobs. YOU are an Archetype, not data. " he ended with more coughing.

@DarknessSpirit

As Bastille, the giant knight, came up to the deep hole he jumped down. Through the reflective shines of his armor, he could be seen at the bottom. He waved to Katherine and beckoned her to jump down.

"How about after we get out of this trap and kill Khan," Ceralder said, rolling onto his back.

Cross just gritted his teeth. "You don't understand us Draconians once worshipped gods as well. Heck as of now we only worship one God who saved us from the wrath of the other ones. But with the older ones we did everything right, never stepped out of line. we worshipped them day and night knowing if we didn't they would burn our civilization to the ground. Then the humans came. They slaughtered us. The moment we tried to defend ourselves our gods assisted the humans. At the beginning there were millions of us. As the dust cleared not even 10% were left. Then Naga came, her light healed our wounds and she gave us the power to kill the gods who had wronged us. With her power we killed the gods we once worshipped and threw the humans out of our homeland. Since that day we worship Naga the light dragon. Healer of our wounds and our liberator. I can't speak for what your gods have done but us Draconians refuse to follow anyone but Naga."

"That's strange I never heard you talk about your heritage! Maybe the devil beat some stuff into you as well. No don't get all mad, to my understanding Draconians are good dragon eggs possessed with souls, or devils. But I could be wrong. I can cut you open and find out though. " he paused to cough from the smoke and bloody lungs. "You ever meet this Dragon you worship?"

Cross hesitated at this. "No I have not met her personally. She mostly shows up on rare occasions typically when she is happy and wishes to hold a celebration with us. Other than that I've only heard her voice."

"You make me laugh, mage." Ethan said. "The gods don't need to try to kill any of us. If they wanted you dead, Zeus can snap his fingers right now and you die. You've messed with time consistently and they have consistently let you live. You've fucked with Ari's trust consistently and he not only let you live, but let you come along. Why would any god want to put up with making a contract with someone like that?"

"The Gods won't empower everyone in the world. We all know someone will use the power the wrong way and let the power corrupt them."

"I've read the tales as accounted by the Draconians and then the tales as accounted by the humans. There are some consistency problems between them. That's besides the point though. You blaming the gods for this is 100% dragon shit. They didn't cause this. WE caused this. WE crashed the castle. WE struck down Alreos. We finish what we start. The gods didn't tell anyone to do anything, but they did all this shit to help us. You're here on your own free will. As is Ari, Arabelle, Ceralder, Tyr, and everyone else. I don't care what god you serve, blaming our gods for our and your personal choices is childish and cowardice."

Ari's wounds healed completely and his magic came back. It wouldn't be useful though when he left

He stood up and squeezed Elaina's hand. "Are you all ready for the second stretch?" Same as the first

Sandro scoffed at his attempt to dislodge what he had said. "I can do what I want, they made the world and their more interested in stopping ME THEN STOPPING THIS ENTIRE GODS DAMN INVASION OF DEMONS! You need to realize you're one of the few who still think the Gods haven't abandoned us. Don't worry, I'm one of them too. They didn't abandon us. They just sit and laugh at our precious mortality. At our attempt to gain power and their response to crush it. Why do you think the empires of old are long dead? Because they don't like a threat. So don't defend them like their great. Because their not. They have never offered me help, they've just targeted me. I don't need you defending the Gods and calling me a fool when your own words prove my point. You say I should be LUCKY they come and not kill me, but the fact they bug themselves with me shows they don't care about the FUCKING DEMON INVASION. SO DON'T LECTURE ME CURR, BECAUSE THEY'VE NEVER HELPED ME OUT, WHEN I WAS FORCED OUT OF MY OWN HOME BECAUSE I PRODUCED THE ONLY THING I EVER LOVED!!" He collapsed coughing. His words were only a whisper untill he shouted.

"I'm only interested in us both seeing tomorrow. I don't care about..... You know. That." Ceralder said a bit uncomfortably. He drew Flauren, then took a running jump. He jumped three stones, then prceeded to jump two at a time.

Noam kept edging the demon downwards. He was struck with a blast of cold and cold burn on his back as an Ice Shard hit him. He yelled in pain, but kept his grip. Misty knocked another demon into a spider web and it fell back into the pit

11 demons

Ari sat down with Elaina while they continued to the second stretch

"Oh yea." Ethan said, laughing sarcastically. "You, you, you. The gods don't care about humanity because your personal actions had consequences. Childish as ever. We have our place. When we feel like we don't need the gods and attempt to overthrow them, they put us in our place. The empires thought they were better than the gods. When the gods abandoned them, what happened? The humans turn against each other and bring on the empire-ending war."

"As I said, the gods aren't interested in you. If they wanted to kill you, you'd drop dead right now. They're not targeting you. We struck down Alreos. The gods didn't ask us to. If they did, they'd have stepped in. If you want to blame the higher-ups for your personal actions, go ahead. Make another deal with another demon and get conned again. I lived with Alreos, I served Alreos until his death, and I'll die for Alreos after death."
