Raven

Ravens memory was strange to say the least. One moment he was looking into the eyes of a crying woman, she was beautiful but made him feel sad. Then it went black. Raven thought that meant the memory was over but he just sat in darkness and his chest got heavier and heavier. After it nearly crushed him he was back in his room at the rehab.

He sat up with a start and gasped a few times for air, he had been breathing the whole time but he felt panicked. Like he couldn’t catch his breath. Was this his trauma? Like Yuus problems yesterday and how Nora was scared of her memories...

After a few moments Raven got dressed and found the others in the living room, eyeing Yuu curiously. “Was your memory bad as well?”

Nora

Most of the night was spent tossing and turning. She couldn't get the panicky feeling out of her chest from earlier. As much as she wanted to overcome the feeling she didn't want to see where it originated from. And then there was Yuu. All she wanted to do was make him feel better but she had no clue how. Eventually she started to think of nice things to do for him and that helped her get through her own feelings.

Eventually she had fallen asleep only to be woken up two hours later by the sound of the door closing. "Hm?" Her eyes fluttered open as she sat up only to see the memory capsule staring her in the face. "Oh. We won." Gently she took the glowing crystal and bit her lip gently. "Can I talk to someone, please?" Suddenly the room around her changed. "H-Huh?" Nora spun around quickly and stopped when she seen the man in black standing in front of her. "What is it?" Her cheeks heated and she stumbled over her words. She was in pajamas and she hadn't even brushed her hair! "Well? Spit it out."

"I-I don't want this thing! Can I trade it for something equally as special?" Her cheeks flushed as she asked. The man just stared down at her for a long moment with a blank expression. "Sure." What? Sure? Just like that? "What do you want?"

--

Ten minutes later Nora was walking down the stairs. She was dressed in a white pair of jeans and a black shirt, her hair looking as pretty and wavy as always. "Morning everyone. Oh, Yuu, you're up." Her arms were behind her back as she walked over to him. Her long lashes blinked a few times when she noticed what he was doing. "Are you eating?" Quickly she shook the question away. "Uh, never mind. I got you something that might cheer you up. It cost me my memory capsule so I can't really give you that one right now, but I think you'll like this just as much."

She revealed the jug of sake with a bright smile. It had a red bow on top. "Ta da!" Her smile turned into a nervous one as she sat it down on the table. "Nothing I can say will make you feel better, it's just something you've got to work through. But you like sake more than anything, so I thought that this would help get you through it." This was awkward. Was this a bad idea? Probably. She mentally kicked herself.

Delphina

Delphina had woke up early and took her memory capsule into the bathroom with her. She wanted to use it while she was in her true form, maybe that would would bring out even better memories. Once comfortable in the large tub with her fin out she popped the capsule into her mouth. Delphina dipped her head back into the water as the room turned into the sea. She was little and she looked sad for some reason. Her parents were scolding her. "Mom? Dad?" She tried to say something but she couldn't. They kept yelling at her for going near the boat.

The boat from the last memory? Why was it so bad?

That was it. Delphina was back in the tub, her head still submerged under water. Slowly she sat up and somberly dried herself off. Silently she got ready for the day before leaving the bathroom. Despite the bright purple sundress she wore she did not feel so chipper. In addition to whatever the hell she just watched her human legs ached terribly. She could swim these guys under the table but apparently her human legs were not so strong.

"Good morning everyone." Her bright eyes looked over at Yuu, Nora, and Raven. Why was she so happy? It was like their personalities swapped for the day. "Did your capsule suck too or was it just mine?" She sat down on the couch and glanced over at Viola.

Castor

"Oi woman it's too early for this..." He let out a long, a snore, and a yawn. The whole week they had been getting up early and doing the whole yarn nonsense, then they had to wake up early for the cafe day. Could he not sleep in here? He would have gone right back to bed if it wasn't for her tone. Something about it worried him. "I'm coming-" He froze as he sat up to let her in as he stared at the memory capsule. His heart started to race wildly. As much as he wanted to pop it into his mouth he knew that Marisol needed something from him.

"Coming." He sat the capsule down on his nightstand and stood up. He tossed on some black jeans and a black tee, ran a hand through his scruffy black hair and walked to the door. "What's wrong?" Oh, shit. The capsule. Surely neither of their capsules were pleasant. After all, they were never chosen to begin with. They were tainted souls. "Right, come on in. We can talk about it." He gave her a small awkward smile before he sat down on Everest's tidy bed. "What did you see?"

Everest

As always Everest awoke early. Today however he was greeted by a memory capsule. He was hesitant to take it. His last memory was rather pleasant. What if this one wasn't? What if it was the one that connected him to Castor? He glanced over at his sleeping roommate with a long sigh and a heavy heart. They had to know each other, he had to know how. Slowly he pressed the capsule to his lips before consuming the glowing memory.

The room turned to the same village as before. Something was different though. Everyone was hiding in their home. The sky was black, the sea was angry. Heavy waves smacked against the shore loudly, the gulls above cawing as if to warn the others of danger. Thunder and lightning clapped from the sky. What monster was he facing?

Everest turned around to look out to sea and froze. A pitch black sea serpent was swimming towards him menacingly. His eyes were glowing a bright red, his sharp, curled horns large and wicked. That was an evil sea serpent. No...it was Castor. "Castor..." His heart sank in his chest as the room faded back to normal. Everest was sweating bullets. His eyes glanced over to his sleeping roommate. He looked harmless, sure he had a big bark but he was a gentle soul. Right? How else would he have gotten this opportunity?

Everest stood slowly and got dressed in what was called a track suit. He tossed on a pair of sneakers and brushed out his white hair before tying it in a tight ponytail. With that done he walked out of the room and went for a run around the facility.

--

By the time Everest walked into the living room everyone, save for Marisol and Castor, was awake. "Good morning all." Everyone looked mopey. For once Delphina looked like she was down in the dumps, and Nora seemed pretty happy. "Is that sake? Nora how did you ever get your hands on such a large bottle?" He walked to the kitchen and picked up the jug, turning it all around to observe it. "It looks like good stuff." He sat the bottle down before pushing back some loose hair. "Congratulations are in order, it appears we have won the competition. Thanks to everyone's hard efforts." Everest gave a small smile to everyone. As much as his capsule bothered him he wouldn't let the others know.

Hell, he didn't even know what he saw. His smile fell slightly. There was only one reason why another sea serpent would visit another village...

Marisol

As Castor opened the door and welcomed her in, Marisol started to rethink her decision. She didn’t know if she could actually put words to what she saw it was so upsetting. Slowly she entered and shut the door, standing up and fidgeting with her nails as Castor sat down.

“Well to start one of my flowers is gone so yay I guess.” Her eyes stayed locked on the chipped paint of her nails. The usual cocky and vibrant girl was gone and in her wake was a timid murderer. “I don’t know exactly what I saw but...” Breath hitched in her throat again as tears threatened to fall from her eyes. Her legs wobbled a bit and felt as if they might give out again. “I knew Nora.”

That opened the floodgates. Marisol sat on the bed beside Castor and finally looked up at him. “I think I hurt her Castor, or at least was involved.” She went on to tell him every detail. The smell, the dialogues and even how panicked she felt to be in the car. “And what if she finds out throes memory capsule? She sleeps in the bed next to me!” Marisol didn’t know how to process this memory. She was scared to be in any room that she might run into Nora in. Scared thAt anyone would see her like this and ask questions. Marisol has pride that refused to allow her to be seen as weak. Apparently except for now. “Wait have you taken yours?”

Yuu

When Viola questioned him, Yuu scoffed and gave her a small growl but didn’t go much further than that. He was in too bad a mood to bicker with her. That should prove how bad a mood it was! When Raven and Delphina entered and asked about capsules, his ears perked up. Everyone had a bad memory then? Great even more reason to not use his.

Then Nora appeared in front of him with an infectious smile and he couldn’t help but let out a small chuckle and a grin. “Human you have been so timid this whole time, do you enjoy the depression of your roommates?” Then she pulled he bottle out from behind her back and her smile grew while Yuus eyes just went wide. Something in his chest swelled. This was so nice. It felt strange. Maybe no one had been this nice to him before.

Everest complimented the bottle and then the room for winning and Yuu simply reached out and turned the bottle over a few times in his hands. “Everest is right Nora how did you get your hands on this? I asked the man in Black about alcohol here and he said it was a treat for doing well.” He paused. “Nora you didn’t trade your capsule did you?!” He instantly held the bottle out to her, he knew she didn’t want to hurt but this was too much! He loved the gift, and it was hard to not be selfish but... wait. “Oh wait.” He set the bottle very carefully on the counter before pulling the capsule out of his pocket. “Here, you can have this. If you want it... I won’t force you but I don’t feel right not offering.” His face started to grow red as he rubbed at the back of his neck, “You did something really nice for me and it wouldn’t feel right to be selfish here...”

Viola
Viola looked at Delphina for a long few moments before responding. “Well I wouldn’t call it bad but it wasn’t great. I’m starting to think those first good memories were almost cruel if they’re going to be switching around with no warning.” Part of her felt cheated, they had done such a good job and their reward was clearly causing them all pain. The only cheery one was Nora and it’s simply because she hadn’t used hers. “Mine was just more confusing than anything.”

Viola sighed and rubbed at her temple for a moment before eyeing Yuu and Nora. “Both if you are being babies about your memories. They’ve told us over and over that these events are what formed us as people. You’re never going to get over your problems by ignoring them. That’s a cowards stance.”

She stood and gestured to Everest, “You should be handling the time here more like him. Or even Raven. The things that are being shown to us aren’t great but news flash. We are dead. Something bad happened to us. You just have to accept that and move onto bigger and better things.” It was a hell of a pep talk. Almost like she was talking to soldiers. It felt natural. “So stop moping and one of you two take that damn capsule or I’ll be shoving it down someone’s throat.”

Raven

Raven sat back and listened, his usual MO at this point before finally moving to the living room and taking a seat on the couch in silent thought. Listening to Viola made him think of a few things. The wheels in his head turned and he eyed Delphina on the opposite end of the couch. “Was your memory confusing, but kind of scary for lack of a better term?” He hummed a bit as he thought. “Mine was, it was dark and I couldn’t really breathe. It felt nice at first but then something changed.” He turned back to the rest of the group and shrugged his shoulders with a blank face. “I think Viola is onto something. If we think about it in terms of soul weight, these memories weigh us down while also forming us into the people we are. If we don’t come to terms with them as well as doing well in the tests we’re given... I think we will stay pretty stagnant. Hell some of us might even gain weight.”

Raven pushed back some of his dark hair and stood, moving to the kitchen and pulling out a kettle. “I think we all just need some tea and to have a relaxing day. I doubt it will be long until we’re put up to the next task.”

Nora

Nora smiled up at Everest as he complimented the bottle of sake. She did ask for top quality. Though, her smile faltered when Viola scolded them. "You all had happy memories your first time with the capsules. Mine was awful. Why should I care about who I was? I honestly like who I am, I'm happy. Whoever I was in the past? She's not who I am now. So you all can keep piecing together the pieces of your past so you can figure out what happened. I'm going to do whatever they ask of me and I'm going to continue to be a good person."

Her happy smile was gone, shaking her head gently at Yuu as he offered his capsule. "It was a gift to make you feel better, I don't want anything in return. Thank you though." She pat him on the head with a small smile. That had become one of her favorite things around here petting his soft hair. She didn't even mind being called Human by him anymore.

--

The first year of their stay was finally coming to an end. It seemed to go by so quickly. About halfway through the year they had all found out the final exam was escaping their death. They couldn't kill anyone to escape it though. The rest of the year was spent either studying history and ethics or spending time with their roommates. Nora had continued to avoid the memory capsules she was given. At some point she started to save them in her nightstand drawer.

Most of the year she found herself hanging out with Yuu. To be honest he kind of grew on her. He was usually bright and cheerful while Nora was more on the serious, studious side. Maybe that's why they made a good pair?

Today was the day of the final exam. She walked into room A with the others and seen the circle of chairs. Nora was well aware what her traumas were but she had no clue where they came from. Small spaces, groups of people, that's what she was afraid of. Today she would escape her death and, hopefully, overcome her trauma. "We can do this guys." The black memory capsule appeared in front of their eyes, the guy in black speaking as it did. "Remember, this is all just a memory. Your spirit will not die, you are all safe. What you see is how you died though. You'll be in your body. You need to escape the death, face your traumas." Right. Easier said than done.

"Good luck guys." Nora clenched her eyes shut as she quickly popped the capsule in her mouth. Nothing felt different. Slowly she opened her eyes. She was laying down in a small, cramped space. It was dark, she was surrounded by what appeared to be sports gear. The space was shaking and bumpy. Nora started to panic, tears running down her eyes. Then she heard the sound of laughter. The laughs turned into voices, voices saying something about how scared they hoped she was. "Marisol!" Her eyes widened. Did she really hear Marisol's name...? "H-Hey someone help me!" She tried to kick the top to whatever was holding her only to wince. It was metal, that wasn't going to work.

Delphina

Where did the year go? She had only gotten one memory capsule and it involved the garbage and oil in the sea killing her sea creature friends. The way she found out her trauma? Trying to cook for the others. She used a knife, seen the sharp point, and started to panic. So really she had no clue what her death would be like. The rest of the year was spent studying all the different kinds of souls were here and asking Raven questions. He was smart, he knew basically everything. Way more than Delphina. He was nice about it too. Viola seemed to be repulsed by Delphina's positive energy. That was just how she was though, that's how most mermaids were.

"I don't want to do this." Quietly she whined as the black capsule stared her in the face. Her soul had lost a significant amount of weight, she was down to 2 ounces. Not ideal, but better than when she first started out. "Here goes." Her sunkissed fingers grabbed the capsule and shoved it in her mouth.

She appeared in the ocean in her true form. The water was heavy and moving rapidly, there must have been a storm going on. Why was she so close to the surface though? "What's going on?" The ocean got dead silent. Delphina looked around quickly before spinning around and getting knocked back by a school of fish. "Ah!" She struggled to swim against the school swimming against her. When she got to the end of the school her eyes blinked curiously. There was a net around them. "What- Ah!" The net started to move them upwards towards the surface. How'd she get caught? her parents warned her about the surface!

"Stop it!" She had to get out of the net. She grabbed the sharp shell and started to saw against the net. "Oh come on, come on!" Panic was spreading in her chest as the net rose above the water, her eyes widening at the sight of a metal boat. There were humans standing there holding onto sharp spears. "Oh no..." This was it? This was how she died?

Castor

There was one thing that Castor was focusing on and that was atonement. Clearly that's what he and Marisol had to do to make it through this. He'd have to be nice to Everest and she'd have to be nice to Nora. He didn't even take his memory capsule when he received it. Why bother? He wasn't worthy in his last life. He'd make sure he was worthy in this life. So while he was still the same old snarky asshole he tried his best.

The year was spent around Marisol mostly. She was the only one that seemed to be able to handle him and the only one that didn't get on his nerves. Plus, he didn't actually hate her company. He could live without the 'goat boy' name though. He was a serpent, an elegant snake. Not a gross grass eating goat. At some point he started to get jealous every time he saw Marisol looking at Everest though. Why was he so great? "Let's get this over with." He was nervous, extremely nervous as he sat across from Everest. He knew they were connected and he was afraid that he was going to find out why.

He stared at the memory capsule and gulped nervously. This was the first time he would use one and it did not look friendly. "Down the hatch." he tossed the black capsule into his mouth. He felt funny. "What the hell?!" He was in his true form, a large sleek black serpent with red eyes. He...was covered in blood. He was weak and covered with wounds. His heart stopped as he looked up to the towering white serpent in front of him. This serpent had red eyes and a menacing aura. "You killed Everest? Pity, he was the brother I wanted to live." Castor felt his world shatter.

"Dad?" That made sense. Castor only knew anger and hate growing up, constantly being compared to his brother Everest. He...killed Everest? He felt like he was going to vomit.

Suddenly Castor was side swiped and knocked across the ocean into several large pointed rocks. He let out a loud cry as he collapsed into the water. His dad was attacking him? For winning? Why? He let out a small whimper. This felt too real. Castor was an asshole but he didn't think he deserved to die like this...

Everest

Most of the year was spent from a distance watching over everyone. Everest was raised to be a hero so he always wanted to help people. His soul had lost some weight throughout the year every time he took a memory capsule. The bad ones always had Castor in it. It wasn't the Castor he knew, though. The Castor he knew was a sarcastic, know it all asshole but that didn't make him a murderer. Something in the past must have did this to him...it wasn't his fault.

When Everest sat down and consumed his capsule he returned back to the village in his serpent form. Castor was approaching the village, his eyes looking fierce and deadly. The old Everest must have tried to have a heart to heart with him. "Castor, this is not what you want to do. I am not your enemy." Everest spoke to Castor as he approached the beach. Everest stood up tall to intimidate him. "Turn back now, Castor." His wings stretched out as he warned the black serpent.

His words were lost on deaf ears. Castor went to strike Everest's throat, a strike Everest easily avoided. Castor was slower than him, smaller. Everest was strong and mighty. Even if this wasn't the Castor he knew he didn't want to hurt him.

Raven

The past year had gone fairly smoothly for Raven, this was easy for him. This place was like school and it was interesting to him, it made it easy to do well. Delphina spent a lot of time with him, asking questions and trying to learn more about their world. It made Raven realize something about himself, he loved teaching others. At the beginning of the year he was annoyed with questions and the personalities around him. But now they were actually endearing. Delphina helped a lot with that, he conversations made him a little more sociable and it was easier to intermingle with the group.

Today was the day they all had to face their deaths, escape them and move onto a new life. Ravens capsules up until now had been vague.. a lot of darkness and gasping and a very angry woman.

He took the orb from in from of him and swallowed, instantly pulled into his former body, laying in a bed with a woman screaming at him. What was going on?
“You just ignore me! You don’t even look at me those damn books are more worthy of your attention than I am!” Her voice was plagued with sobs, Raven sat up and looked her over with a raised brow. “I’m your fiancé! You should love me!” Then it all hit him like a speeding bullet. That’s right... he was engaged. But he hated this woman... she was mean and selfish and had no respect for the intellectual mind. It was all he could do to keep from lashing out at her now. “Whatever!” Raven was overcome with tiredness and laid back down, his eyes falling shut like he couldn’t really control it. The darkness. Then he felt a weight on top of him, his eyes darted open only to be met with his fiancé sitting on him with a pillow in her hands and tears streaming down her face.

This was how it happened.

“Aian, stop. You don’t want to do this!” Her brows squished together, his voice was eerily calm. Maybe she expected him to be different... maybe he was different. He couldn’t remember. “I’m sorry this isn’t what you wanted.”

Viola

Violas personality has been pushing her further and further from the other members of the group and her pride wouldn’t allow her to think of herself as the problem. Everest and Raven were the only two taking this fully seriously at first and now the two of them seemed much more distracted! She wouldn’t allow herself to fall victim to doomed friendships and memories she wouldn’t keep when she reincarnated. Instead she did everything asked of her and continued to gather memories. They were a lot of her in battles, protecting people, sitting with her village and smiling. She appeared to be an integral part of their society despite the fact that she didn’t have many close relationships with anyone.

When they were placed to their final test for the year, Viola didn’t hesitate. Over the past year the others had discovered traumas... Viola just got random hunger pains. Because of this she didn’t she didn’t have the fear some of the others did and she swallowed the capsule.

Then she was back in the room from her first recollected memory. Only this time she was back in her body and the pain made her let out a scream. She was alone and her body hurt terribly. Everything was scary. Viola didn’t think she was going to be scared but she wanted to absolutely cry for anyone to help her. She could tell she was dying. She was starving to death. She was trapped. But why? Where was she ? How did the girl who was so amazing in battle get in this situation.

A door opened and a sliver of light blinded her momentarily.

“Ready to tell us where your village is so you finally get some food Viola the Valliant? Or do you want to keep playing the game of seeing how long until a faerie dies from hunger?”

Marisol

Marisols year had been a strange mix of being able to be herself with Castor while being timid and quiet around the others. Overall... she honestly thought she was being a better person. Was she sarcastic and a little crass, yes. Was she mean spirited and hurtful. Not anymore. Not after what she saw. And kept seeing. Marisol wasn’t smart like Castor, she kept using her capsules. It kept her from being ignorant. She was a TERRIBLE human, she needed to change and needed that constant reminder. That was why Everest caught her attention... he was so calm and collected. Honestly Marisol admired him, wished she could be more like that, her attitude got her in trouble a lot and if she could learn to be more like him maybe she wouldn’t feel the need to be so nasty.

Today was the day she would learn the whole story of how she died, how she got here by accident. What actually happened to Nora...

As they all sat in the group Marisol stared at Castor, he was the only one in this room that could understand the mixture of fear and calm she felt. Fear of the situation but also the calm of finally knowing the whole thing. When he swallowed his capsule she watched for a moment, he showed no signs of distress but then his face twisted into pain. Marisols heart fell into her stomach... watching had been a bad idea.

The yellow haired human closed her eyes tight and popped the thing in her mouth. When her eyes reopened everything was like hell. There was blood, smoke, pain, screaming and crying. Marisol herself looked down and let out a sob at the wound on her leg, it was broken. Next to her she saw the breathing but knocked out body of ... her boyfriend. That was her boyfriend. What was happening? Past memories hit her and suddenly she let out a gasp, grabbing the shoulder of the woman in the front seat and looking through the windshield. They had hit a telephone pole. “Hey! Hey! Wake up! Come on!” Marisol looked outside, it was icy. The people with her in the car were drunk and they must have spun and ended up here. The passenger in the front was... he was dead. Horror swelled in Marisols throat and she fell back into her seat. “Nora...” Nora was involved in this somehow. They were picking her up... why ?! Her brain hurt from thinking and the blood loss was starting to cloud her mind. She had to save herself to pass the test but she needed to know what happened to Nora.

Then it hit her.

Marisol clawed at the door handle and limped to the back of the car, shivering from the cold. The trunk. It was crumpled. There was no way... but maybe. “Nora!” Marisol screamed and began yanking at the trunk to no avail. How was she supposed to just walk away from this?! How was she supposed to find a way to save herself!

Yuu

Yuu was starting to learn that friendships could hold more joy than a bottle of sake... and friendships with sake were even better! The past year he spent a lot of time with the human er, Nora. She calmed him down a bit and wasn’t like the other girls around the damn place. They were scarily obsessive with him. Gifts, food, confessions. Yuu loved the attention but it was starting to get tiring! Hell most days he didn’t even leave the apartment anymore.

The trauma with the fire was getting better and better. He didn’t stay awake at nights seeing flames dancing in front of his eyes at least.

The test did bother him though, Yuu was scared that the memory of his death would restart his panic at day one. But it was something he had to do to move onto the next year of their rehabilitation.

Most of the others had already started and it took him a few moments to finally swallow the capsule. Once in his memory Yuu found himself laying in a large bed filled with luxurious sheets and furs. Two kitsune women were asleep on either side of him and he couldn’t help but give himself a little high five with a smirk. This was how he died? Couldn’t complain much. He joked at himself but then the smell of smoke hit his sensitive nose and he was frozen with fear.

Yuu moved outside from his tent and was met with the image of a hundred or so angry looking humans with torches and various weaponry. They were setting fire to the village and were lead by a woman who seemed familiar. But why?

“Isn’t that the human that got lost last night? Hiro didn’t kill her?!” Screams rang out around him and chaos began. The memory came back. This woman got lost and fell upon the village... one of the men was put in charge of killing her and clearly he didn’t. Everyone started running, trying to escape further into the mountains. It was his own first plan too but clearly it didn’t work for him before or he wouldn’t have died. Should he fight? No... they can’t kill anyone. The flames were getting larger and spreading quickly. How to get out? Yuu looked around and an idea hit him.... everyone was panicking. Going up. Getting trampled... Yuu sucked behind a smoldering building and watched the humans with a fearful eye before looking over the edge of their mountain village... maybe he could scale down.

Nora

Once she got over the initial panic she forced herself to calm down and rationalize her situation. This wasn't real. She had to escape. Her eyes quickly scanned the top of the space, squinting when she noticed something in the back. A handle? Nora turned on her side and reached uncomfortably across the cramped trunk. They were all just laughing over there about what they were doing to her. It hurt her heart so bad that people would do this to someone. She remembered everything about her death now. She was a quiet bookish girl who got bullied by everyone. A guy asked her to study with him and she stupidly said yes. Nora dressed up and got so excited. Only...when she got there she was shoved in a trunk by the boy, his girlfriend, and some of their friends.

Nora was nothing but a joke in her last life. Tears burned her eyes as she painfully reached the handle. Quickly she pulled it and the trunk popped open. How fast was the car going? She peeked her head out of the trunk and gasped for fresh air, her eyes widening as she seen the swerving driving. "Marisol..." She bit her lip and looked towards everyone. They weren't her friends, she had to look out for herself.

Nora forced herself to jump from the car. She landed with a groan and spun down the road several times. She was dirty and bloody and out of breath, she was sure she had a concussion, but she was out. Her eyes were staring at the night sky as she struggled to catch her breath. That's when she heard the crash. Her light blue eyes widened and she slowly stood up. "No, Marisol..." Was that how they died? In that accident? She managed to limp to the car and peered inside. "Marisol and her friends were in the car. They were covered in blood but it looked like they died quickly. The trunk was smashed, no one could have survived that. Not with how full the trunk was...

Tears ran down her face as she returned to room A. Quickly she wiped away her tears and looked at Marisol. This Marisol was helpful, she wasn't mean or hurtful like she used to be. "I forgive you, Marisol..." Nora wiped a tear from her eyes as she looked around at everyone. They were still in their memories.

Delphina

Adrenaline was pumping through her body as she fought against the fish and rope. Delphina cried out loudly as the sharp spears began to pierce her beautiful skin. Blood poured from her wounds as the fisherman laughed and laughed. They were enjoying hurting her? Why? She meant them no harm... Her parents warned her. Why was she so stupid? Why couldn't she listen? "I can't get out!" Delphina cried as she shouted at the sky.

Delphina remained in the net getting stabbed all over her body. They weren't going to save her, were they? "Ah!" The rope finally snapped open and she forced her body through the small hole. Both the fish and Delphina fell into the water, her eyes widening as she sank into the water. The water washed the blood off of her as the fish swam away from the boat. All she could do was sit there and look at the boat. "I...did it?"

She was back in the circle with tears streaming down her face. All of her scars were aching. Gently she touched them, more tears streaming down her face as she did so. "I didn't do anything to them, why would they hurt me?" Her voice was quiet and shaky like she was terrified. Her eyes looked over at Raven and she slowly wiped her tears. "You can do it Raven."

Castor

How much time passed? Hours? Days? Castor was laying on the ground weak and bloody. His dad had been throwing him around like a rag doll. Castor had deep wounds that were fatal if left unattended. How could he fight though? He had killed his own brother because of a never ending rivalry his dad drilled into him. Thanks to him a sea serpent truly worthy of being a dragon was struck down.

That's when it hit him. Everest was going to become a dragon. This was a memory, it wasn't real. "Stop..." Castor raised his head weakly so he could beg his dad. It wasn't working though, Castor was thrown into another large sharp rock. He let out a loud cry and shook his head. "No, you have to stop!" He growled lowly and his body began to glow. Suddenly lightning struck his dad not once, not twice, but three times. His eyes widened as his dad fell. Did he do that? He had powers?

That's right, his dad and Everest both had powers. It was in their blood but Castor never showed any magical promise. "I'm sorry, dad..." He slowly swam over to the fallen serpent and felt tears swell in his eyes. If this had happened Castor would have been all alone for the rest of his days. His dad did him a favor by killing him.

With that said and done Castor was back in their group room. "That was the last time I ever consume one of those capsules..." He glanced over at everyone and seen Nora and Delphina were awake. Everyone looked pretty rough.

Everest

The battle with Castor was long. How many days had it been? He lost count. Castor was panting and Everest was fatigued, he had to end this before Castor killed him. This wasn't his roommate though. "Castor enough!" The crown-like horns on top of his head glowed a dangerous bright blue. "I'm sorry for doing this." The night sky lit up brightly as lightning and thunder shot across the sky simultaneously. Castor's horns were struck and destroyed, destroying his powers and chance at ever becoming a dragon.

Thankfully this was just a memory.

Castor made a loud painful cry before he retreated back into the ocean. The ocean began to calm down, the waves became soothing. The sun began to peek from the clouds and he could hear people leaving their shacks to see what had happened. They cheered and Everest glowed a bright white, his wings growing larger as he began to turn into the dragon.

Everest blinked slowly and opened his eyes to reveal the room his soul sat in. Ha. So destroying his brothers chances at becoming a dragon would have turned Everest into a dragon? Painful irony that was. He didn't want to become a dragon by hurting his own brother, though. For once Everest was at a loss for words, he had no clue what to say to Castor.

Marisol

Marisol struggled to grasp the reality of the situation, this wasn’t real this was a test, this was just a retelling of her memory. Nora was back in the room. Nora was going to get to reincarnate. But Marisol sunk to the ground and couldn’t force herself to do anything to save herself... she didn’t deserve this chance, she didn’t deserve anyone’s sympathy or anyone’s forgiveness. Marisol should have died that day and that should have been the end of it. After today Nora would have to sleep in the same room as the girl responsible for her death. Marisol hadn’t been driving but she should have said something!!! What fucking person let’s their friends put a poor girl in the trunk! It was so fucked up! Marisols NEED for attention and acceptance got someone KILLED.

Marisol let out a scream and sobs shook her shoulders. Her body was starting to shake and she felt cold. If she didn’t save herself and failed what would happen? Would it just end. Or would she have to keep re doing this over and over. Marisol shook her head side to side and thought. How to get out of this hell? She looked at her leg and pressed her hands tightly against it to slow the bleeding as she thought. She needed to admit what happened. And ask for help... she removed a hand from the pocket of her jacket and called 911. “There’s been an accident... I think everyone else is dead. We’re on M23 near the high school... yeah. Oh also when you come a crew needs to come with tools to open the trunk. A girl was in there.”

Suddenly Marisol was back in the room, physical pain was gone but her hands were clutching onto the tops of her thighs so hard she had cut into her skin a bit. “Ouch.” She relaxed and reached up to wipe the tears from her eyes. After a long few breaths she finally looked up and her eyes fell on Nora. How was she supposed to say anything here? Nora looked so upset... so sad.

“Nora it wasn’t you.” Marisol started. Maybe that wasn’t what she should say. But saying sorry wasn’t enough. “We were bullies and mean people. We acted like we were better than everyone and my friends... no. The people I spent my time with because I was a fucking loser, they got this idea that you thought you were better than us. I went along because I needed them to like me. When I got in that car I didn’t know the plan and suddenly it was just happening.” Tears began to flow again and Marisol sunk her head , holding it in her hands. “I am so sorry Nora. If I had told them to stop, to not even mess with you, to pull over... anything!” Her shoulder shook as she spoke. What a fucking coward she was.

Yuu

Smoke and flames grew and grew while Yuu struggled to decide if this was the right idea. Soon he had to move or he would die from the smoke in his lungs. This was all fake. This was just a memory. This was what he had to do. Yuu slid over the edge and began scaling down until he was a few ledges below the village. He moved and moved until the air was clear and he could look around without his eyes tingling. Yuu looked back up at the bright yellow of the village and felt his heart break. None of the others made it or would make it... he was the last of his village.

As the realization hit him, Yuu saw the world change back to room A. Someone was crying and talking. Marisol? Was she apologizing to Nora? What was happening here. Yuu looked to his side and looked Nora’s features over , she looked terribly sad. “Oh Nora...” Yuu wanted to help somehow. Whenever he was overwhelmed she helped... how? Oh! Yuu reached out and placed his hand on the top of her head and smoothed out her hair. “Nora are you okay?”

Viola

What? “No way in hell you swine!” Viola hissed, hatred burning in her stomach. She had honor! No way in hell would she sell out her people! She would rather die! Emotions were running too high for her to remember this was a test. It took the elven man spitting in her face for her to realize this was how she died. She wasn’t lasting another day. This was why she had the hunger pains. The world began to spin and tears fell down her face as the man laughed. This was the test! But her heart wouldn’t let her. She collapsed onto her side and began struggling to stay awake. Her brain was screaming at her to just tell him, it didn’t matter it wasn’t real! But she couldn’t. And then everything went dark.

“No!” Viola screamed and opened her eyes suddenly, her vision met violently with the bright lights of room A. “What?” She was back. Did she pass them? No... she didn’t right? Confusion took over her brain as she looked around the room. Marisol was almost pleading with Nora and the two serpents looked strange. Delphina was clearly disturbed. Had they all finished?

Another black orb suddenly appeared in front of Viola. She had to go again... quickly she shoved the thing in her mouth, instantly back in her own hell.

“They’re in the valley near the River Salvation! Our village is hidden between the hills and our homes lie underground.” Viola answered the man instantly when he walked in and he threw her an apple. Then he left with the door wide open and a snicker.

Viola was then in the room again but she felt worse than before. This test was disgusting.

Raven

The test. This was a test. He had to get out of this. Raven kept repeating the mantra. His fiancée was ready to murder him so she could get away from him, away from the marriage. Raven didn’t blame her... he had no interest in her. There had been a mutual trust and understanding there... she had been pleasant enough. Never did he think it would come to this. But it did.

“I will leave. And pretend like I died. Then your parents can’t be mad. I can leave.” Gently he pushed her off, she was stunned. Raven stood and quickly gathered a bag. “I promise.” He didn’t give her the option. Raven spread his wings and left from the balcony, it hurt to leave his family... but this wasn’t real and he was dead anyways. This was about passing the test.

Back in the room, Raven found himself opening his eyes to the noise of Delphinas voice encouraging him. It made him smile a bit before he actually looked at her and panic arose in his chest. Why? Delphina was his friend and he was somewhere safe but now she made him so uncomfortable. Especially being as close as she was.

Quickly Raven looked away and took in the rest of the room before standing and waking away without a word. He needed to physically distance himself and breathe for a moment.
