The envelope came to you. Via one of your contacts, be whoever they are, it came to you with explicit instructions that only you are to inspect its contents. A typical white stationary envelope, with an exceptionally simple red circle emblazoned on its exterior. As you examine it you can tell by weight that something substantial is within; that there is more than just paper inside. After carefully inspecting it for signs of tampering, or worse some form of booby-trapping, you open it.

*CLUNK* Is the sound of the nearly one-inch diameter platinum coin as slams heavily onto the surface of the desk or table you’re seated at. Upon closer examination, you can make out a skull surrounded by intricate filigree and the Latin phrase
“QUI BENEFICIO MERETUR DOLUM” in gold on one side, on the other a series of twelve concentric rings, the outer most being minted in a dark red hue of copper. You’ve never seen a coin like this one before, but you recognize the Red Circle adorning it, and the envelope it fell out of.

The Red Circle.

A mythical underground crime syndicate that has supposedly operated for nearly a century, fulfilling the needs of some of the most powerful and well-connected elites in all the world. Boogeymen, nothing more. At least, that’s what you and everyone else dismissed it as until this envelope came to you. Pulling the rest of the contents from the envelope, you discover a tri-folded single sheet of fine linen paper, and a First-Class boarding pass for one flight from wherever you are in the world, to the city of Denver, Colorado. Setting the boarding pass aside now, you turn your attention to the letter...

“Salutations.


If you’re reading this letter, then it is because you have acquired our attention. Whether this was your intent or not is inconsequential. However, what is, is the opportunity you are being offered by my associates. Make no mistake about it, it is your reputation as a consummate professional that has attracted us, but we will still need to verify the validity of that reputation.

Therefore, we extend to you an invitation to join us in person. Accompanying this letter is a First-Class Boarding Pass for a flight to Denver, Colorado; where upon landing you will be brought to our discrete location. Once you’ve arrived, the specifics of our offer will be disclosed to you in detail.

We look forward to your arrival and wish you an enjoyable flight.

So that’s the basic introduction for an RP that I’ve been wanting to do for a long while, and I think now may be the time to see if anyone might be interested in sharing in it with me. If you’re a fan of films like 'Heat', 'John Wick', and 'The Jackal'; or if you’re a fan of video games like 'Hitman', 'Grand Theft Auto', and 'Payday'; then this RP is one that I think you will enjoy.

I’m looking for at least three players to take part in this RP, I myself will control all NPCs, as well as one member of the crew, just to make sure things move along when players get a little stuck. I have a multitude of different heists/missions that the crew will be offered to undertake, which will allow for new crew members to come along at the end, or to allow players the chance to start a new character, if their current one is getting boring or stale.

Elements of this RP that you can expect include; character interaction outside of heists/missions, specifically pertaining to character development – planning of heists/missions by members of the crew, as well as completing preparation tasks for the heists/missions – stealth oriented sneaking during heists/missions – action oriented shootouts during heists/missions – post heist/mission recap and interactions.

There will be some moral implications to the heists/missions, so expect that to be in play as well, though much of the moral impact you will be unaware of, until following the completion of a heist/mission, which will be revealed in the form of exposition of World Events. There will be an all-encompassing story-arc for this RP, which will be revealed to the player characters as they go along. I’d like to see if there is any interest in this, before I put together any character creation tables.

There's already a lot of people signed up to this RP, but I'm still gonna put it out there that I'm interested as well.
 
We appear to have 10 of you interested, and as much as I'd like to leave this open for that many people and more, it can get bogged down with such a large number. As such, I'll be limiting this to 5 at the beginning, those 5 being determined by whose characters are submitted and approved in a first come, first serve basis. After those 5, your character can still be approved, it will just have to wait for an opportune moment to be input into the story. Given my experience with people Ghosting during RPs, or even getting tired of the character they've created, there will probably be plenty of opportunity for that. So don't feel dismayed if you miss the first cut.

Now... below you will see the example profile for my member of the crew that will be joining your characters in this adventure of ours.

1. Feel free to let your imagination run wild in terms of your character's back story, just try not to dictate too much of what
"The Red Circle" does or is doing. They are a shadowy organization that operated without the general knowledge of the world at large, though your character may be in a position to have at least heard tales or legends of their existence. As would be part of the major draw in bringing your character to them.

2. Keep in mind this RP will be operating in a world that is nor overly dissimilar from the one we currently find ourselves in, so try to be relatively realistic when it comes to the abilities of your character. No Wizards who shoo Magic Missiles or Jedi Mind-tricks will be found here. Just guns, knives, and other modern forms of killing/murder.

3. I do also ask that you use an Actor/Actress, or some other famous person as your face claim. It's not that I have anything against Anime, or other forms of Cartoon imagery, I just prefer a more realistic representation for this RP, since realism is part of what I will be shooting for in this RP.

4. No Gary or Mary Sue characters; you can have a total badass character, by all means, but if they are said badass, I expect to read a damn good reason as to why in their history.

5. These character will be working together, at least in the beginning of this RP so keep that in mind as well. Shy or introverted characters are fine, but if you write them to be an insufferable douchebag or pain in the ass to the rest of the group, then expect them to be on the outside looking in at times.

6. Once I've approved a total of three character profiles, not including my own, I will create an OOC/IC thread for us to potentially get things rolling.

7. If you have a question about the world we're going to be operating in, or
"The Red Circle" as a concept, then please feel free to DM and I will help you get the information you seek. Part of why I don't want to reveal too much early on, is that I want you to enjoy uncovering the mystery along with everyone else. His unwavering professionalism has been the most common attribute associated to Mr. Hock, besides that of his willingness to accept nearly any and all contracts presented to him, so long as the price is right. We do not expect any difficulty recruiting Mr. Hock, as the Ansonetti Family owes The Red Circle allegiances dating back nearly fifty years. We do expect that his advanced experience in this field will prove invaluable to the operation you are assembling.

History: Born in Minneapolis to nothing more than a pair of street junkies, Mr. Hock was lucky enough to have not ended up as an abortion, or drug induced miscarriage. Abandoned almost immediately after birth, he was fortunate enough to be taken in by an inner-city orphanage, however unfunded it was. Lacking any form of full or even partial time attention from anyone at the orphanage led the young Hock to life of petty crime. Theft from convenience stores, burglarizing homes, and even several cases of minor violence.

It should come as no surprise to anyone then, that Mr. Hock spent a rather decent amount of time locked in juvenile detention facilities throughout the Minneapolis area. It was there that he fell in with an even worse group of malcontents and learned the tools of the trade for any would be Mafia enforcer. Assault and battery, vandalism, arson, extortion and robbery to name just a few, but what set Hock apart was his willingness to go even further, and cross into murder.

It was during one of his stints in juvenile detention, that Mr. Hock was put in contact with a distant broker for the Ansonetti Crime Syndicate, but due to his lack of Italian heritage, there was resistance to his welcoming into the family. As such he was given an incredibly difficult, and dangerous task to complete in order to earn his place. That task called for the complete elimination of the staff at one of the juvenile detention centers, due in no small part to the personal request of one Ansonetti family member who’d also done a stint there.

For Mr. Hock, it evidently didn’t matter if the staff members were young, or old; male or female, as judging by news reports from the Minneapolis area show he fulfilled his task with brutal vindication. As a result of this, Mr. Hock was granted a place within the Ansonetti Crime Syndicate as a lower level enforcer, though throughout the course of the next twenty or so years he has arisen to become their most revered, and respected asset. No doubt he has played a major role in their seemingly unrivaled dominance over the Mafia underworld in the eastern half of the United States.

Additionally, it should be noted that Mr. Hock’s ugly if not surprising skill with small arms, and unarmed brutality is nearly unrivaled among those available to our hiring. Clearly a life on the streets, and as a Mafia enforcer has granted him an understanding of urban combat that most Infantrymen would envy. However skilled he is, it has been his reputation as a consummate professional and ruthless assassin that brought him to our attention.

His determination to complete the job is one of his most notable attributes. His recruitment should pose no difficulty as his current freelance style will allow him to accept the job without the need for us to have a "discussion" with other crime syndicates.


History: Naohiro is a Japanese-American born in Milicreek to a middle-class family, his family divorced when he was only 5 and custody was given to his father. They moved to Pittston, PA. His childhood was plagued with bullying and harassment from his peers, this forced him into constant fights, these fights would place a mental toll on his father which would cost him his life when Naohiro was only 18. Out on the streets and without a job, Naohiro had to turn to a life of crime at first via thefts of stores, supermarkets and eventually houses. During one of his robberies, he stole from a house that belonged to a crime family, an interesting twist of fate was the crime family he stole from was the then famous Yoshida Crime Family, the Yakuza's attempt to break into the American crime scene, instead of disposing Naohiro, the chairmen of the crime family spared him and put him to work for the family.

The chairman was accepting of Naohiro and surprisingly the rest of the family were too, taking him under their wing and training him in various skills that could aid in his jobs, they were shocked at his talent with melee weapons both long and short ranged which earned him the nickname Kenshi but he had spent a long time with mastering firearms. His first jobs/assignments were thieving which eventually turned into enforcer work and that finally led to his famous hit jobs. But all wasn't well for up-and-coming assassin as one job almost cost him his life, the injuries placed Naohiro into a coma. Naohiro's absence stirred up a small panic in the family while the panic was small as documented from several statements the family sent out, it exposed a weak point because of this new Achilles heel and an inside informant the Yoshida Crime Family was brought the down. Naohiro was designated at the hospital as a John Doe so he was safe from the collapse of the family.

After Naohiro's long 3 year coma, he awoke to find himself in a familiar but also foreign place, the people that were once there aren't anymore and in their place another crime family. These developments made Naohiro distance himself from associating with crime families, no matter what benefit they offer. He has found moderate success in his freelance, completing some crucial jobs for families all over the states as well. His reputation and skill makes him stand out like a beacon for employers and we won't ignore such a spectacle.

Recruitment Summary: Sophie Queen, or more commonly known as Pestilence, has a history of working with the law. More actively with military forces, Sophie was a major part in a secret attack on Iraq, where they gassed out several major leaders of the terrorists with a toxin of her design. She has a amazing IQ and an ability to find a exit route in almost any situation. However, the army and the leaders in it double crossed her when they stole all of her research and put her in an insane asylum. She is assumed to be easy to recruit, as she has a personal vendetta against the law, but caution is suggested.

History: When Sophia Queen was born, her father was severely disappointed. He had hoped for a son, a strong and tough man to take his place as a military officer. To his great displeasure, he had a daughter. Sophie’s mother died several weeks after her birth, which drove her father to drinking. Sophie grew up in an alcoholics home, someone who didn’t care about her and constantly pushed her to be better. Being bullied in school didn’t help either. The golden hue of her eyes truly made her a target of others annoyance. Constantly being pushed made her want to be the best, so when she found out, at only five, she was a natural at chemistry and science, Sophie pushed herself to learn everything she could.

Setting up her room as a laboratory and even using the schools science room when she needed space, Sophie made poisons and chemicals regarding it. Regeneration gases and flesh deterioration was also a part of the mix. When she was seventeen, her father got major ‘alcohol poisoning’ and was killed. However, only two bottles were found around the body, and very little liquid was located in the autopsy. There are suspicions that alcohol was not the case in Mr. Queens death, but Sophie’s prints were nowhere in the room and she was the one who called in the death.

It was soon after this the government took notice of her skills, after she was kicked out of college for causing a entire wing of the facility’s to.... well, explode. She was labeled as dangerous, but instead of killing her, they recruited her. Finding she was ok ish with hand guns, but horrible with snipers and physical strength for that matter, they put other attributes to the test.

Her agility, thinking skills, reaction time, and IQ were very prominent, but her IQ itself was over 179. When researched, they found that this was due to a part of her brain, a part that kept balance and the muscles in check, was damaged, causing that brain power to move to her intellectual side. That’s why she was able to learn so quickly, and why she was so smart for a seventeen year old.

Working for the government, Pestilence created several kinds of toxins and chemicals, even helping in major projects such as infiltrations and forensic science. But all of this changed when an army official thought she was going crazy, due to her lack of humanity and her willingness to make weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, he stole her research. Everything, except a small diary like item written in several different languages. He regarded it as rubbishy, and gave it back to Sophie. Sophie was not crazy at the time, but while staying at the asylum slowly lost her mind. Faking sanity, Sophie escaped and ran away to Michigan, where she hid herself. Robbing banks and hacking into things, Sophie gained a well know reputation.

Caution should be practiced when dealing with this woman. She is slightly unpredictable, and easily set off. She is, in scientific term, a sociopath. She also refuses to wear any type of mask other than one of her own design; a gas mask that blocks almost every chemical know to man and converts it into breathable gases.

Recruitment Summary: Tyler “Ty” Earle has executed several hits in the recent past, following his retirement from the armed forces. Most of these were for the O’Bannon crime family on the east coast, with whom he earned an associative relationship. Additionally, Earle has fulfilled underground gunrunning and gunsmithing jobs for various clients including the O’Bannons. Tyler Earle is an especially skilled marksman, as evidenced by his clean, successful hits. The O’Bannons are laying low currently, due to heat. They have released Tyler to operate independent of the family for the foreseeable future. As such, no difficulties are expected in recruiting him.

History: Tyler, otherwise known simply as Ty, was born in a small town in the western tip of Virginia. He grew up learning how to shoot and hunt in the Appalachians with his grandfather and father. He first started shooting on an old bolt action rifle, to force greater trigger discipline and the desire to make each shot count. He learned how to control his breath, trigger pull, and the recoil; how to adjust iron sights or optics, reload homemade ammunition, and compensate for shooting conditions.

These skills transferred well to his special forces training as a sniper in the Army Rangers. Although it all piled on many new demands, physically and mentally, Tyler held on and passed through amongst the best. On deployment in the Middle East, Tyler provided effective sniper and overwatch support for friendly forces. He is responsible for 46 confirmed kills on terrorists and insurgents, with 42 of those from sniper weapons specifically, and 22 of his total tally happening in one mission. It hit the fan, and Ty had to use his M14, sidearm, and grenades in a desperate running firefight between his team and outnumbering enemies. He has an estimated total of 49 kills, if 3 extra unconfirmed, non-sniper kills are included from the above mentioned mission.

After discharging, Tyler Earle struggled to reintegrate into society. Eventually he just provided services in what he had learned best—taking out targets, and the weapons to do that with. Illegal weapon modifications, acquisition, and of course hits themselves became part of his new criminal repotoire. Before long the O’Bannons took notice of Ty, and they’ve relied on him consistently to pave the way to rising power. However the O’Bannons’ success has brought on heat, forcing them to lay low. They don’t want to even risk using Earle until the heat dies down, but agreed to let him fulfill other jobs for the foreseeable future.

Recruitment Summary: Helena Wayans, known more infamously as the Little Fuse, has made her skills known throughout the Italian mafia network. She has been leading many missions for her family to ensure their success yet still comes second to her twin brother in her father's eyes. Jobs come in many forms so she has become adept in hand to hand combat and has dabbled in dismantling electronic systems. Some difficulty in recruitment due to her father's control but it is well known she wants to outshine her brother and become more than a mob boss ever could.


History: Hel was the second born of twins to her elder brother Matteo in Staten Island. Immediately it was expected that Hel support her brother in taking over the family business and that she grow up to be married off to increase the family's political power. This was not the future Hel saw for herself, feeling that her skills far surpassed her brother's and that she should be in line to take over.


Don Wayas is too old fashioned in his mindset so Hel's rebuttals never had significant impact. It was from the age of 13 that Hel decided that she would aspire to move on to bigger and better things. Hel entertained her father's customary princess-like treatment of her in public but in private she would train with the mafioso guards that were assigned to protect her. She worked out, trained in gymnastics and parkour, and sparred as often as she could to learn how to defend herself and think on the fly so she could one day take charge of her life.


At 18 her father finally gave her a chance to attempt small jobs and represent the family so her face would become known. From the first few jobs it became clear that she was not feared, only seen as the spoiled princess of a powerful mob boss. This realization solidified to her that she wanted to achieve more with her life and she took these opportunities as practice and a way to spread her influence.


Hel eventually lead a small group and with each completed job she was given she would use the opportunity to proclaim her intentions to other gangs. To prove her tenacity she decided to create a signature mark to leave at jobs, causing her to ultimately build a reputation as the Little Fuse. What once started as a strategic act turned into a love of burning things down or at least setting something ablaze prior to completing a job.


After years of strengthening her family business, learning how to run various types of jobs and the organization, and trying to network her way into bigger and better things she was told that she was to marry the son of another family. Time is ticking and Hel is looking for a way out of her current position.


Hel is not comfortable with the idea of killing intentionally but if people are hurt or killed in the cross-fire, it's not her problem. It only proves that she was more capable. This does not apply to her team as she believes that people should not be left behind. She is proficient in hand to hand combat, preferring brass knuckles with modifications to firearms but she could take a few decently aimed shots if needed. Due to her preference of combat she has focused her skill of agility on stealthy operations to give her the best chances of success. Note that she will always have a customized lighter on her person so she can end things with a bang.


(I am open to criticism so please feel free to let me know if any changes are necessary. I am aware that the mafia backstory was utilized prior so if it needs alteration I can modify accordingly.)

Recruitment Summary: A former mixed martial artist and Krav Maga instructor for the Israeli military, Steven "Fisher" Michaels is someone most people wouldn't want to mess with. He specializes in subterfuge and sabotage, however, which is why the Los Perros gambling empire employs his services to take out competing businesses in the West coast, which he does quietly through manipulation and his expert control of technology, which allows him to take out an entire gambling empire and all of its casinos in a matter of hours with relative ease. He is also excellent at flushing out hiding criminals and targets which his employers want to take care of. Even though it's not the main part of his job, Fisher is sent out to carry out hits on targets sometimes, for which his modus operandi is to be as quiet and invisible as possible by sabotaging and affecting things from behind the scenes until the target is in a vulnerable position, at which point he uses his extensive hand-to-hand combat experience to take them out. When fist fighting isn't good enough, Mr. Michales is fond of using his high-caliber, bronze-plated Desert Eagle for securing kills. Beyond this, Mr. Michaels is fairly good at pinning the blame for his exploits on other people, effectively ensuring Los Perros never get brought down thanks to him. The Red Circle has good relations with Los Perros, but not good enough to recruit one of their best without some exchange. Regardless, Mr. Michaels' recruitment shouldn't prove to be too much trouble.

History: Steven Michaels was born into a small family in the city of Irvine, California, 35 years ago, where he spent the first 10 years of his life. When Steven turned 10, his father began to get involved with a minor gang in the city, forcing Steven's mother to take him away and move to Sacramento to avoid the potential repercussions of his father's life of crime. Unfortunately for Steven, his mother wasn't very well educated and she had a very hard time making enough money to live in one of the most expensive states in the country. As a result, Steven joined a mixed martial arts gym when he was 14 so that he could seek to become a prizefighter and bring in money for him and his mother. He fought his first amateur fight at 15 and continued fighting in underground gambling rings until he turned 18 and could fight professionally. It was in these underground fighting rings where Steven was found by Los Perros, the largest gambling group in all of the West Coast, and the owners of the gang Steven's father had served years prior. Apparently, Steven's father owed them a favor but he'd died before he could repay, so Los Perros decided to collect on said favor by recruiting Steven as hired muscle.

He was allowed to continue pursuing his prizefighting endeavors but was now receiving additional training and payment from Los Perros. Steven had to carry out his criminal affairs in complete secrecy, to avoid hurting his mother the way his father had until he came of age and could drop out of school. When he was 21, after a job involving roughing up some lowlifes in a run-down casino, Steven began taking a keen interest in technology and more quiet methods. Even though he continued his training, Steven stepped away from prizefighting and began learning all about the mechanisms of sabotage and the technology involved with all facets of the business. He was sent off to the Middle East for 5 years to continue learning about high-level hacking and sabotage/subterfuge from allied paramilitary organizations. It was here where he also received training with the Israeli military so that he could begin undertaking some higher-level jobs. His hand-to-hand proficiency carried him through his training to the point where he even spent a few months as a Krav Maga instructor. Unfortunately, his knife-fighting and firearm skills never really caught up, and Steven only really became proficient with pistols, never achieving a high enough level of mastery with other weapons. This wasn't important to Steven, however, as he was quite occupied and fascinated by all that he was learning about technology, which sparked a passion within him.

Upon returning, Steven's role in the group changed and he became a valuable asset for sabotage and coordinated heists, even though he did carry out the occasional hit here and there when necessary. He earned the nickname "Fisher" for his connection to technology and his ability to "fish" out enemies and cash for Los Perros. Fisher is very much behind the scenes most of the time and he's always got his hand in somewhere wherever there is business on the West coast, always ready to collect for Los Perros. It is unknown what happened to both of his parents, but it is believed that he managed to get his mother somewhere far away to keep her safe, and his father's whereabouts are unknown, even by Los Perros. Fisher's reputation is strong across the country, despite few knowing his face, and even fewer knowing his name, and it seems as though this reputation has reached some people very high in the criminal ladder.

I am interested in this. I see all the slots are filled (or potentially filled), but would still enjoy reading this and possibly joining later as a spot opens up.
