"Hello Everyone! You might all know me as Professor Rosewood of The Ranos region! I'm here today to announce both the kick off of this years League challange and to officiate a match between current champion Raiden and challenger David. This is an exhibition match just for fun today to keep the champion on his toes for the upcoming battles. In the upcoming days the challengers will sign up for the league challenge in Kusugaura city, so Stay tuned as the event will be broadcast throughout the Region. Challengers will be taking on all 8 gyms in the Ranos region for a change to participate in the final tournament. Now without further Ado, your Champion Raiden!" She said backing away from the center of the Stadium. And older man, probably in his early-mid 20's entered the stadium that was full of shouts and cheers as he approached the center. "and his Challenger David" She shouted as another older man approaches the center of the stadium. "Are you Ready Folks! Begin!" The professor shouted.

1575519338664.pngBlaziken garchomp.PNGThe two through out two pokeballs each. "Lucario, Chandelure!" Raiden shouted followed by a "Blaziken, Garchomp!' from the challanger David. "Pokemon Fusion!" both said together as their pokeballs seemingly fused together mid air. As the pokemon came from the pokeballs the crowd went wild. The Lucario Chandelure Fusion stood on one side of the field, Being A fighting, fire, ghost type pokemon. The challengers Blaziken Garchomp fusion was a fire Dragon type. "There you have it folks Champion Raidens Famous Lucario Chandelure Fusion, though it looks like Challanger David came prepared with a Blaziken Garchomp combo of his own" The professor Said through the microphone.

"Lucario, Use Aura Flame" Raiden said, The pokemon following by moving his large candle stick like staff around in a circle and then thurst if forward shooting out a blast of blue flames towards the blaziken. The blaziken took the hit and backed up momentarily before shaking it off. "Balziken use blaze kick!"Said the Challenger. The Blaziken launched itself at its opponent, but the Lucario managed to quickly dodge out of the way and the blaziken dug its flaming heel into the ground before jumping backwards. "The crowd seemed to be going crazy.

Of course this battle had happened a few days ago, it was clearly the champions win. Now all the attention was focused on Kusugaura City where the league championships were about to start. The opening ceremonies were in a day, and only the challengers with real talent would make it far in the challenge. But still challengers from all walks of life and of different training styles gathered in the city, hoping to either make a name for them selves on in the live stadium battles that the challenge offered or to win the tournament all together. Some people even gathered hoping to become potential sponsors of the challengers, so they would get some recognition without having to participate. Overall the city was getting crowded with all the participants and people wishing to view the challanges that everyone would face in the near future.

Kent ElwoodKusugaura City

Through the crowded streets of Kusugaura City, a rather tall male made his way through the sea of both people and pokemon. Although he had no pokemon following or climbing upon him there were two pokeballs clipped to his belt, and a well-worn backpack slung over his shoulder, in truth everything he wore was well worn his shoes were beyond broken in with small tears and scuffs and the white writing on his blue hoodie had faded with time. He didn't look scrappy or dirty, it's just you could tell he's owned these clothes for a long time, or maybe they were hand-me-downs. Still, he marched on through the crowd with a scowl on his face which would divert any curious eyes that would catch his. This young man was Kent Elwood, one of the many new gym challengers attempting the usurp the title of champion, but the only thing on his mind right now was getting out of this damn crowd. "I knew I should have come here earlier," he grumbled, now noticing the stadium coming into view. It'd probably be best to get checked in before the opening ceremony tomorrow, granted if he could get there before the place closed. The crowd only got denser and denser as he approached.

Somehow Kent managed to snake his way into the lobby, finally being free from the abomination of a crowd. Sitting down to take a quick breather Kent reached to his belt, unclipping the two Pokeballs and releasing Levy and Shogun. The two little Pokemon looked around their surroundings, excitement filling their eyes. "Alright you two, we've made it to Kusugaura, and tomorrow we'll officially start our adventure, so let's give it our all," He told them, smiling down at his pokemon and the two responded with a nod. "Let's rest up for now, my legs are killing me," he continued, making sure to stretch and get comfortable in his seat, not to mention scout out the other competitors.

Kusugaura City. Home of the League Championships, the single greatest challenge for any and all trainers who want to make it to the top. At this time of year, the streets were stormed with hundreds, maybe thousands of people. Within the crowd, was one boy who was keen on taking on the challenge. His messy black hair rested just over his eyes. He dressed in a white hoodie, and black sweatpants, with a lavender bag slung over his shoulder. All the clothing was messy and wrinkled, but it had been recently cleaned, as evident by the complete lack of stains or grime. Atop his shoulder was a Mudkip, which stood as high as possible. Resting comfortably in a case in his pant pocket was two more Pokeballs and an empty one that would normally house his blue friend. He had been weaving past the crowd for what he felt was an eternity., and his legs were beginning to give out.

"I swear, if I don't get to the stadium soon, I'm going to-" His voice trailed off as he looked up to see the building that would be the center of attention throughout the entire region. He stared confidently upward, resting his hand on his partner's back. This was Jun, an aspiring writer and pokemon trainer, and Azure, his trusty Mudkip. After one deep breath, Jun stepped into the building, carried along by the waves of people rushing in. He walked up the stadium before deciding on a spot in the center of the room nearby several groups of people, many of them holding their pokemon and getting ready for the big day ahead of them. Jun figured it would be the prime position to make a couple of new friends. He took a seat and stretched his sore legs as he examined the wooden case closely. Azure nudged Jun to let her friends out, so Jun opened the compartment and lifted the two Pokeballs, proceeding to release Lei and Sableye.

"Let's try our best, alright. Hopefully, we get to meet all sorts of new people and Pokemon," Jun said as he brought Lei into his arms and patted Sableye on the head. Sableye wore a wide grin, while Lei put on an excited smile. Jun scanned the room to look at all the types of people that had come here - young kids who were probably in primary school, all the way up to elderly men and women that looked like they had a century of stories to tell. Jun smiled to himself at the thought of how many new friends he could make.

"You, sir! Yes, you! You look like a fitting participant for our Bouffin' Brawl challenge! How would you like to take part in a battle against our sponsored league trainer, Ayem?" The suited host from the Lanty Manure stall beckoned, at first pointing out the spectacled young man a few feet away before gradually gesturing towards anyone in the lobby who dared step forward. "This is your limited-time chance to get a taste of what naturally grass-fed Pokémon— with grass grown with the finest raw Bouffalant manure, of course— can really do!"

Slightly curious, as he had been with many things in Ranos since disembarking from the S.S. Anne, Remiel sauntered over to the stall to pick up one of their informative brochures and slowly flip through it. The blue-grey eyed young man wore a slightly baggy, long-sleeve black shirt, slim denim jeans, and a pair of dark brown oxford shoes. He carried a navy blue backpack with brown straps against his back. Raising his hand, he carefully adjusted his black glasses so that they sat evenly upon the bridge of his nose. He felt Herschel's luxury ball twitch with eagerness, strapped to his hip beside a dive ball and pokéball as well. But, out of the three, only the Applin craved permission to be released and take in their surroundings. Remiel knew better, however.

"Ahh, intrigued, are we?" The middle-aged host with graying hair cooed, smiling as he watched Remiel read through the brochure. "Tell you what, even if you were to lose against Ayem," Of this, he seemed obviously certain. "You'll be sent home with a free bag of our premium Bouffalant manure! Great stuff for berry and plant farming! You'd get your Pokémon fit for another crack at the championship in no time!"

The black-haired youth briefly looked up from his brochure at the host before resuming his casual read. "I'm still not sure that I'm participating in the challenge at all... and I raise dragon-types." Well, one that was plant-based, another that only believed she was a dragon, and a third that basically just ate like one... but close enough. "I have one partner who this might be useful for, but the majority of them eat meat or fish..."

Suddenly, a looming presence approached from behind. Taller than him by a couple of inches, the large contestant standing there seemed disturbed by the comment Remiel had just made. He tapped his shoulder, prompting Remy to set down the brochure and turn around. Immediately realizing that the stranger was more than likely the same age as him, he could only assume this was the 'Ayem' that the host had mentioned prior.

A powerful gust of wind blew from slightly above the crowded streets, many bystanders glaring at the figure with annoyance. Kusugaura city, a renowned city within the Ranos region. The upcoming tournament would be holding its opening ceremonies supposedly. Given the number of people crowding the streets, it was likely to be a memorable experience this year. From within the crowd's cacophony of sound, the brief sound of a camera click could be heard. Lowering his arms once more was a silver-eyed boy, boasting a rather giddy smile. The phone seemed to suddenly come alive as a voice from within the box began, "Braviary. Quite the beauty you've spotted. Brave and Prideful, this pokemon is known as the Hero of The Skies. Even if they get badly wounded, they keep on flyin'." The voice quieted down once again as the two blue eyes closed, returning the phone-case to its standard appearance. "Thank you Rotom" A fairly chipper voice responded, with that Mako turned back up to face the crowd surrounding him. It seemed that the crowd was moving towards a large building in the distance. His view of this building wasn't the best, but it seemed to be the form of a stadium.

"Blimey... Seems the crowds all got the same idea." Reaching a hand up to his head, he quickly ran it through his hair causing it to become even less managed. The heavy gust from earlier hadn't done it any favors either, but it didn't seem to bother the dual-toned youth. At this point, he had begun noticing dozens of advertisers. Most of which were for companies and brands he had never heard of, a few interregional companies were familiar but none past that. Multiple trainers were approached by the companies, it seemed that they were trying to promote their brand through the trainers. In other words, Sponsors.

Thinking back on it, he had a cousin back in the Straya region who got sponsored by a company. If he remembered correctly it was a technology company, EnDurants.... or something like that. Needless to say, he hadn't spotted their logo around here. A few more moments of walking among the stuffier group of the crowds and he found himself within the lobby of the stadium. At this point, his appearance was far easier to notice. A thin gray jacket rested over his white v-neck shirt, adorning his neck was the coiled serpent of a gray scarf. His lower half presented a simple pair of black-slacks and fairly nice black shoes. His attire wasn't particularly head-turning if anything it was somewhat bleak in appearance. Hastily moving forward he pressed himself against the far wall. Reaching up to his neck, he pulled against the scarf which quickly slid off his neck. Reaching over to the messenger back on his side, he unzipped the backpack and stored the scarf away before zipping up the bag once more. "Well then... I guess this is how the Ranos region is." He muttered quietly to himself as one hand reached to his side and pulled free two pokeballs. As soon as they touched his hand, both of them began to quiver in anticipation. His exhausted expression quickly vanished and was replaced by a smirk as he pressed the button of each of the two simultaneously, in the process of which he sat himself down in one of the available seats.

From each orb, a beam of red-light spread out and simultaneously two pokemon appeared, each of which apparated on his lap. To the left was a blue platypus creature, on the right- was another blue platypus creature... that wasn't right. Returning the pokeballs to his belt he looked towards his two companions, both of the creatures looked up to him cheerfully. Reaching his hand out, he patted the left one on the head and smiled. "Kita, I know you're not Padd" He smiled as a small puff of smoke surrounded the pokemon, in its place was the strange Zorua which released a small snickering sound. The blue fur remained but now appeared more bioluminescent than that of the previous forms. Reaching his other hand out, he rubbed his hand down the back of his other pokemon. "I see you're just rearing to go too, aren't ya?" He smiled at the billed creature which released a soft growling sound before cooing under the closeness to its trainer. Without missing a beat, he continued to pet both pokemon and scan the room for a trainer or just people of interest.

OOC: ▸ TL;DR: You can start at the ** if you'd like lol. Sorry, I'm long-winded. They'll shrink from here on out.

The crowd in Kusugaura was lively- cheering with excitement and conversing loudly over the festivities of the League Championships. Serenity in turn also felt very excited, sharing in the positive energy the city let loose. Ranos was completely different than her home region of Orre, housing many bustling cities and different Pokemon and people alike. With a bright smile on her face, the quiet girl nuzzled her cheek into the Espeon she carried as she walked.

"Isn't this exciting?" She whispered lightly into the Pokemon's large ear, the fuzzy appendage twitching from her breath. Espeon obviously remained silent, and simply shifted his eyes to look back at her. "What do you think? Think we could become champions?" At the notion, Espeon flicked his tail, smacking Serenity lightly in the thigh. With a puff of her cheeks, Serenity pouted at her Pokemon's reaction. "It was obviously a joke..." She muttered breathily, trying her best to push her way through the crowd.

When she finally was able to make her way to the stadium, Serenity maneuvered herself out of the entranceway and set her Espeon down. While the lobby of the stadium was still very crowded like the streets of Kusugaura, there was enough room in the building to at least move around. The girl's Espeon shook out its fur from being held for so long and sat obediently at his trainer's feet.

Now, Serenity had no visions of becoming any Pokemon master, or even League Champion- no, nothing of the sort- but when she heard of the League Championships, she decided she would want to participate. Back in her home region, she had no Pokemon League or gyms; in fact, most people who owned Pokemon weren't even actual trainers. All of this was very new to Serenity and she wanted to learn more. She was a very curious girl and wanted to experience all that Ranos had to offer.

From the few years she's lived in Ranos, she learned that trainers were the heart and soul of the region- people from far and wide clamored over the yearly League Challenge, both trainers and non-trainers alike. Due to this, she found that most trainers that participated in the Tournament often had a bit more leeway when it came to traveling and that was a perk that Serenity was interested in. Plus, participating in the Challenge opened up all sorts of doors to learning about the many people and Pokemon of the region.

Eyeing the front desk, Serenity clicked her tongue and nodded her head, motioning for her Espeon to follow. The girl's eyes roamed the room, an excited smile tugging at her lips at all the different Pokemon with their trainers. As they approached the counter, Serenity leaned in so the woman could hear her better. It didn't help much, and she had to repeat herself multiple times as she gave the woman her information to register. After about five minutes and several apologies for her whispering, Serenity gave the desk clerk a bright smile and mouthed a 'thank you'.

With her name signed in now, Serenity was excited to explore. The stadium was large and multiple stalls were set up to try and catch the attention of the plethora of visitors. Stalls selling various Pokeballs and Pokefood, ribbons, and plushes were packed with potential customers, while some of the others weren't as popular. One stall caught Serenity's attention since the man running it was so loud. Serenity stepped a bit closer to see what he was offering, her Espeon in tow right at her heels. The stall owner was busy talking to a boy that appeared to be around her age, as far as she could tell- perhaps earlier twenties? She wasn't completely sure, to be honest.

** Getting closer she finally understood it was for a brand of manure. She personally wasn't the least bit interested and went to walk away, but when the stall owner began chatting (quite loudly, might she add) to the man at the stall about gardening, a thought crossed her mind. Approaching the stall, she politely slipped by the boy and picked up a brochure herself- the stall manager eyeing her, but continuing his conversation. Mrs. Shelbey was the woman Serenity helped with running the Pokemon daycare and was an avid gardener- perhaps she would be interested in something like this? She would have to ask.

With the conversation of the two heard in the back of Serenity's head, she listened in to try and get more information on the product. Unfortunately, it seemed the conversation went nowhere since the man wasn't all that interested. 'A Dragon trainer, brave...' Serenity thought off-handedly as she went to walk away. Before she could, another man blocked her path to approach the would-be customer from behind, a scowl on his face. At the new stranger's assumption, Serenity's brows furrowed and she quirked her lips into a frown.

"He didn't say that..." Serenity whispered to herself, but the man caught her voice.

"What was that?" He questioned, now turning his intimidating presence to her. Fucking eagle ears... Serenity was taken back by the newfound attention towards her. She should have just walked away, even her Espeon had curled his tail around her ankle as if tugging her along, but...

"I said, he didn't even say that." She said only slightly louder, but loud enough for at least the man next to her to hear. "And even if he does, who are you to tell him how to raise his Pokemon?"

"Live feedings are cruel,"
The man retorted bitterly, "I don't condone cruelty." Oh, he was one of those people.

"Not everyone has the luxury of feeding their Pokemon pre-killed food, you know." Serenity quickly quipped back. "Some carnivores refuse to eat frozen food. Would you rather he let his Pokemon starve?" As a Pokemon caretaker, Serenity got into this conversation with many people before. While she personally hated seeing Pokemon be fed live food, it was, unfortunately, an unavoidable case sometimes; mostly when it came to the more stalker-like Pokemon such as Arbok, Ekans, Seviper, Ariados, and Skorupi. She was no expert on Dragon Pokemon but having lived in the desert region of Orre, the former Pokemon were a common sight and even more common of pets.

Finally, Eli reached the region of Ranos and so far, it looked to be very
promising. On his way to Kusugaura City, he manged to find two neat pokemon. A fire/dark
type pokemon called devimp and a pure water type called totter. Although they where fairly
new to the team, both of the pokemon where friendly towards Eli and his pokemon..well...kinda
friendly. His spoiled little baby mon, his toxel Jimiken, wasn't all to found of his new mons. I was
expected..besides, Jimiken was a spoiled little baby after all. Eli had hope he would open up to
the two of them like how he opened up to Aphelios. He just needed a little time, that was all.

"Seems like made it here..such a big city." At last, Eli made it to Kusugaura City, one of the
biggest cities he's seen so far. There where alot of people here, alot of them where trainers. He
could only guessed that they where here for the gym challenge. Honestly, he wasn't sure if was
going to enter or not..but it might help his pokemon grow. As he stood there debating, Jimiken
who was asleep soundly inside the hood of his hoodie woke up form his nap and let out a loud
yawn, looking around his new surroundings." Oh, your up. Welcome to Kusugaura city~ "

Jimiken crawled on top of his head and yawned once again. He just looked around the city, but
suddenly was a little spooked by the large amount of people. Eli could feel the little guy trembling
abit."Ah, don't worry little guy~ there no need to be scared. Just look at Aphelios, be brave like

him ok?" Jimiken sniffled abit, but nodded."Alright, let's keep exploring this city~."

Remiel's nonchalant expression didn't falter as the man made his confrontational statement. In fact, it belied the confusion stirred up in his mind by this encounter. Before he could manage to question it, however, there was an almost incomprehensible whisper. Ayem's eyes shifted in the direction of its source, and Remy followed those eyes to set his own gaze upon the girl standing there. She looked young, perhaps years younger than him. She seemed taken aback by the other man's attention at first. Based on the physical cues alone, Remiel was almost certain that she'd shortly walk away. Or that he'd have to step in to draw the abrupt criticism back to himself.

But, surprisingly, she didn't back down.

Stunned, but inherently not prone to showing it, the blue-grey eyed young man listened to the two as they debated. She was right on both accounts: Remiel hadn't said what Ayem had assumed in the first place and, more often than not, the Pokémon he raised preferred live meals over packaged ones when possible. He personally never saw an issue with that, considering many Pokémon ate each other and other lifeforms in the wild anyway. But he was well aware that it made a lot of people uncomfortable. Usually the kind of people who forced their naturally carnivorous Pokémon into vegetarian or vegan diets that threatened their well-being.

"Well, sacrificing a life for a life isn't the answer." The contestant retorted, placing his hands firmly on his hips. "As trainers, we're responsible for our Pokémon. So that innocent blood is on the trainers who allow it!"

"Right," Remiel suddenly chimed in, drawing Ayem's attention back to his calm expression. His voice was smooth yet slightly monotone. "I allow my Pokémon to feed in the wild whenever we have the opportunity. And I will continue to allow that to ensure they receive the proper nutrition they need... I think it would be cruel and unnatural to do otherwise. So you won't be changing my mind, if that's what you had in mind."

Ayem scoffed. He curled his lip as he stared at Remy, then took a step forward to close the distance as much as he could without bumping his nose against his. Drawing a pokéball from his official league belt with the grip of one hand, he slowly raised it up before responding. "Then how about I just prove to you how much better my Pokémon are against yours? Outside. Right now. Unless you're a scared little Torchic."

There was an uncomfortable silence.

It was at this point that the eavesdropping sponsor cut in, emerging out from behind the counter of the stall to loosen his brown tie and try to cool his contender's temper. "Now, now, there's no reason we can't settle in this in a league sanctioned battle arena with the cameras on, is there, boys?" Placing himself between both of them and setting a hand on each of their shoulders, the man chimed with forced laughter before setting eyes on the girl who had interjected herself into this conversation. The proverbial light bulb suddenly appeared over his head. "Tell you what! We'll make this a little interesting, too! A double battle, eh? Ayem and two of his Pokémon against one of yours and one of hers! C'mon now, whaddya say?"

As Remiel turned back to the young lady and the sponsor turned his gaze eagerly between them both, he pondered whether she would even want to continue participating in this accidental debate anyway. Unfortunately, the sponsor took this pause as a non-verbal confirmation. "Great! It'll be on later this evening then. Great publicity for all of us, huh?!" He clapped his hands eagerly, retreating back to his stall to grab a clipboard with paper and pen. As Ayem kept a narrowed and presumably aggressive stare on Remy, his sponsor clicked his pen and continued. "What are your names, anyway? I'll book you in for a match at 7." The sponsor grinned, waiting for a response from either trainer aside from the one his company endorsed.

Kusugara City, Hisoka had finally gotten around to visiting it. He had been wanting to visit the city and watch the league challengers for years. And finally he has and it's certainly not perfect. Hisoka never lost the love he had for watching battles at least and the fusion was so cool! Just never in his life did Hisoka think just traveling around the city would be so hard. It took exactly one step out of the stadium for Hisoka to get swept up in a stream of bustling people. Hisoka probably would have had trouble traveling against the flow if wanted to have to push through the crowd of people. Thankfully Asteria had been hanging onto Hisoka's hair or the shy trainer was certain she would have been lost in the crowd. Hisoka frantically looked around for somewhere to stop or a shop he could duct into or anything. He really really really didn't want to just keep getting pushed around by a busy crown or accident run until someine and oh no-

He was pulled out of his slowly growing worry by Asteria poking him on the head. Hisoka peered up at his pokemon who was pointing at a bakery. He quickly realized it was on he had been planning on going to. The timid trainer whispered a "Thanks" to his pokemon and patted her on the head. Hisoka hurried towards the bakery, carefully weaving through the crowd. Hisoka walked through the door and immediately relaxed. He picked up Asteria off of his head and held her in front of him.

"Thanks" Hisoka said for the second time. He looked at the look Asteria was giving him. "I will. Can you get a table please?"

Asteria nodded and he put her down. The cleffa then used her tiny wings to go over to a small pastel patterned table. Hisoka, confident she wouldn't get into trouble went to order. Hisoka ordered a few treats and some tea for the both of them and headed back to the table, not really looking where he was going.

Serenity's blue orbs narrowed in irritation at the man's 'high and mighty' attitude. He was right, to an extent, but his narrow-minded, 'white knight' views really tweaked Serenity the wrong way. In an ideal world, live bait wouldn't be needed, but it wasn't an ideal world. Of course, it would be best to try and ween carnivourus Pokemon off of live food, but stopping them cold-turkey was damn near impossible- especially ones caught in the wild.

Just as she was about to open her mouth to retort, the man Serenity had been defending had spoken up. For just a moment, she had forgotten she even got into the argument because of him. She was forced to step back when it looked like the league trainer was about to sock the other man in the face. Thankfully, he didn't and instead reached for a Pokeball.

By this time, the conversation had captured the looks from a few passersby and they stopped to see what was going on. When the loud-mouthed stall owner butted into the fray, even more attention was focused on them- especially as he uttered the words, 'league sanctioned battle'. She didn't like where this was going and at the stall owner's brilliant idea, her face dropped.

Oh yeah, she really didn't like where this went.

"I don't really want to participate." She whispered, but either the man didn't hear her or he ignored her because he had all but confirmed it as he rounded around back to his stall to grab some writing utensils. The was an obvious pause when names were asked and Serenity eyed her partner in crime who was already eyeing her back. She could feel her Espeon still at her feet, nudging her leg lightly- he obviously wasn't happy about his trainer's decision to butt in.

Realizing she was in too deep to just walk away, Serenity sighed quietly and looked disappointedly at the ground.

"Serenity Seravil..." She muttered. She could almost feel her Espeon's eyes roll at her compliance; Understandable since the poor Pokemon would be the one having to battle due to his owner's actions.

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you, young lady." The man boomed. My God, did he have to speak so loud? He had already drawn a crowd. "Feeling a bit nervous, are we? It was obviously meant as a bit of a joke as he smiled broadly, but Serenity pursed her lips- she wasn't too happy with this man right now.

"I physically can't speak any louder." She quipped back. "Serenity. Seravil." She repeated slower, leaning in a bit closer to the man. He seemed surprised and immediately cleared his throat, a bit embarrassed as he scribbled her name down and apologized. As he turned to the other trainer, Serenity looked down at her clearly unamused Espeon; his large purple eyes looked up as if scolding her. "Please don't give me that look." She muttered, the Pokemon simply keeping his gaze on her.

"Alright!" The stall owner bellowed, "We will call for you at 7 and we can get this double battle underway! Make sure you two are prepared by then." With what Serenity discerned as a scoff, the league trainer narrowed his eyes at the two.

"I'll see you this evening," He growled in what sounded almost like a threat. As he walked away to probably get prepared for the lime-light battle, Serenity turned to the young trainer and gave him an apologetic smile.

"Sorry about this, it wasn't my place to butt in." Her voice was low, laced with shyness- she hoped he heard her. The crowd had dissipated once all was said and done, a few approaching the stall and picking up brochures... it seemed their spectacle garnered a bit of interest. If she didn't know any better, she would have thought the whole thing was a setup. "I didn't think we'd be dragged into a Pokemon battle..." She said timidly, scratching an itch on her cheek. "But since we'll be battling together, perhaps we could get to know each other's Pokemon a bit? We could formally introduce ourselves over lunch..." Realizing he might have been upset with her, she gave him a kind smile. "I'll buy... as an apology..." She added. The last thing she needed was to have to lose on camera next to a man that hated her.

The representative for Lanty Manure was too loud for Remiel to hear whatever the girl had initially said in response. If he knew she didn't want to participate, he would have insisted that she hadn't. But, as it was, she gave her name and was the first to be penciled in for the appointment. Serenity Seravil. The surname sounded somewhat familiar, but Remy couldn't quite place his finger on why. Before the long, the host turned towards him with clipboard and pen in hand. "Remiel. Remiel Blackthorn." The lad flatly stated. He wasn't sure he wanted to take part in this battle either (or the tournament in general, for that matter), but the least he could do was see this through with Serenity. Especially considering it happened because she had stepped in to help him.

The blue-grey eyed man typically wasn't one for petty rivalries or giving into disdain for someone. But Ayem sure seemed to have the natural talent to draw it out of people so effortlessly. Even with the trainer's snide remarks and hostile glare, however, Remy maintained his typical calm demeanor and placidly watched as the man walked away. It was only when Serenity turned and spoke to him that Remy was pulled out of his mysterious thoughts. He'd heard her mention some sort of condition earlier, but was caught off guard and failed to comprehend what she had said just now. Based on her apologetic smile and other physical cues, he figured she had given him some form of apology. As she continued to speak, Remiel heard her just fine, this time prepared to hone his auditory senses on her rather than the hustle and bustle of the excited crowd surrounding them.

Nodding at her suggestion to get to know each other's Pokémon better, Remiel was prepared to offer her lunch as recompense for the inconvenience. Needless to say, it came as a surprise to him that she would beat him to the punch. She really was sorry then, wasn't she? He figured she was just being polite the first time. But why was she apologizing? "None of this is your fault, you know. You don't have to do that." Did that sound too cold, coming from him and his monotone voice? He was entirely too self-conscious about that. So he added more. "But... thank you. I saw a poutine stand just outside in the plaza." He wasn't entirely sure what poutine was, but upon entering had seen a group of friends sharing a large paperboard tray of fries with what appeared to be gravy and other toppings poured on top of them. "We can share a tray... if you'd like."

He politely gestured for her to advance towards the exit, if she was willing. Just then, however, the shiny Applin in the luxury ball strapped to his hip burst out from it in a flash of red light. "Swiiikukikoo!" The sudden escape prompted Remy to stagger sideways in response, catching his balance just before the Applin turned around and bounded up into his arms. "Kuruuu..." It chirruped, blinking as it stared at Serenity and Espeon.

0gXqxBz.png

A little embarrassed, Remiel scratched the back of his head with his free hand, cradling the Applin safely in a single arm. "This is Herschel, by the way... I was going to wait until we were seated somewhere, but I suppose he's all too eager to meet you now."

She was going to insist when he had mentioned that lunch was unnessecary, but her shy smile quickly quirked up into a bright, genuine one when he accepted anyway. She had never actually tried poutine, but she had heard it was amazing. Plus, she was a sucker for cheese and anything drowned in gravy.

"Sounds great," She beamed, moving to follow him to the plaza. However, the sudden beam of red and swirling energy in front of Serenity caused her to jump back a bit, nearly tripping over her Espeon who hissed lightly in response. Appearing before them was a small Pokemon, barely tall enough to come up past her ankle. The Pokemon let out a squeaky cry and quickly jumped into its trainer's arms; Serenity stared in awe. It was honestly one of the cutest things she'd ever seen.

When the pokemon was introduced, Serenity stepped a bit closer to look at him. She craned her head in only slightly- not sure of the Pokemon's temperament- and let out a small coo.

"Oh gosh, he's so cute," If she could squeal, she probably would have. Espeon had at that point nudged up against Serenity's leg and she hoisted the feline up into her arms. The psychic Pokemon extended his nose to the other, but Serenity pulled him back a bit. "This is Ea," She said, the Pokemon briefly looking back to Serenity before returning to the Applin and then at Remiel, pointedly staring as if waiting for him to say its name. "He'll probably be the one participating. My other Pokemon isn't... much of a fighter." She admitted, her mind's eye envisioning the small, flamingo Pokemon cozy in its ball. "We should head out now, it's getting a bit crowded." She noted, setting her Pokemon down. Normally, she would carry him through crowds, but having lugged around the large feline for quite a while already that day, her arms were beginning to get sore. If it got too terribly crowded, she would just put him inside of his Pokeball.

The outside plaza of the stadium had cleared out a bit; either because people had gone off to eat lunch or were now inside, she wasn't sure but it was nice. She knew where the poutine stand was since she had passed it on her way to register for the tourney and so she had headed that way with him. As they approached, Serenity suggested he find a table while she went to order the food. A little while later, Serenity came sauntering back with a large plate of poutine in one hand and a Fresh Water, forks, and napkins in the other; Espeon had so courteously carried Serenity's own water in his mouth.

She placed the heart attack on a plate in the center of the table and Fresh Water in front of Remiel before taking a seat on the other side.

"I just got you water, I hope that's okay." She whispered, reaching down to grab the extra bottle of hers from Espeon and suddenly feeling a bit rude for not asking him what he wanted to drink. It truthfully hadn't even crossed her mind until she was already at the front of the food line. Folding a fork in one of the napkins, she slid it across the table to him. "You don't have to use it, I'm just weird." She added randomly, remembering most people just used their fingers for fries.

Figuring the area was relatively cleared, Serenity unclipped her only other occupied Pokeball from her belt and let out her Wamingo. The Pokemon let out an odd squawking sound and ruffled its feathers. Wamingo barely had time to register where he was before he let out a screech and ran clumsily under Serenity's chair.

"That's Min, he's... easily startled. " Serenity explained, plucking the least gravy covered fry from the plate with her fork and handing it down to Wamingo with her fingers. "I only have two Pokemon, I just started my journey. So, I'm a bit nervous fighting a full-fledged Pokemon League trainer." An awkward and hoarse laugh left Serenity's throat and she cleared it. "Sorry about that, my throat gets sore quickly." Not wanting to make him feel awkward- as most people did when her situation was brought up- she changed the subject. "I'm Serenity, by the way. In case you didn't catch it." She introduced, finding another plain fry and offering it to Espeon who sniffed it and turned his head. Serenity shrugged her shoulders and dropped the fry in front of Wamingo who hopped in excitement, still pecking at his first one.

Akela Mahoe
Currently interacting: Open
Location: Outside Stadium
Kusugaura City, a place where many new trainers were filtering in. Among the ship coming from the Alola region, was an Akela Mahoe. Akela was more annoyed on the ship then he was excited, they'd told him he'd have to put his Pokemon in their pokeballs for the trip over and he absolutely hated that. Yet as he stared out the window to the new region, he couldn't help but feel a bone deep excitement. He wished he could share that feeling with his Pokemon family, but they'd get to feel it when they reached land. Akela was sure this was the break they needed. In this new region, they could befriend all kinds of new and unique Pokemon. In Alola, Akela lived in the forest for several years and befriended many Pokemon through that means, though they ran out of Pokeballs pretty early so he wasn't able to keep them as forever companions. Regardless, now that he was actually prepared to befriend and capture those Pokemon. So many new members to add to his family back home!

He'd hardly believed it when the nice lady bought him a ticket to the region. Akela had heard the Kusugaura stadium was a great place to start, especially given how the opening challenges were starting soon. As the boat docked, Akela grabbed his backpack of things and immediately headed to a relatively empty alley. Releasing his Pokemon from the confines of their spherical prisons. Out of the balls popped a Mimikyu in a handmade outfit, a dizzy looking Ralts, a fidgety Fletchling, a happy looking Froakie, A tired Mareep, and an angry looking Ferroseed. Akela softly pet his Fletchling, Fang, before helping him onto his head. Akela then picked up Mikyu, the Mimikyu, and held the hand of Remia, the Ralts and ushering the rest to come along. Fang awkwardly pecked at the ear of Akela's hat, his body heating up on the Alolan's head. Akela sighed, and began to whisper soothing words as the remaining members of his Pokemon family trailed behind him.

To any outsider, Akela would just look like a weird trainer with a train of Pokemon following him. To Akela, he was just walking through Kusugaura City, a new place, with his family. Showing them around and exploring the place as the group familiarized themselves with the City.

Herschel struggled to lean closer to the girl when she approached, but was held back by the same arm he'd chosen to jump into. It was clear the wyrm was a pretty social little fellow, and wanted nothing more than to nuzzle the person he sensed was good of heart. When she bent down to pick up her Espeon, however, the Applin warily receded. He'd never seen that kind of Pokémon before. There had been many of the S.S. Anne during their trip to this region, but... he'd been too cowardly to really meet them. The Espeon leaned forward, as if to sniff him, and the Applin's eyes quickly sunk back into his green apple like a Squirtle withdrawing into his shell.

Remiel, ignoring what had become typical for the baby wyrm, calmly reached forward to hover his hand in front of the Espeon for a sniff before daring to scratch the bottom of his fuzzy chin. "Hello... Ey-ah?" He said with uncertainty, looking at Serenity for confirmation that he'd repeated the word right. Turning back to the Espeon, he continued. "Nice to meet you." It was at this point that the female trainer informed him that her other Pokémon wasn't much of a fighter. He blew an amused snort of air out of his nostrils and looked down at the now eye-less apple tucked in his arm, simultaneously dropping his hand away from the Espeon. "Yeah... I know the type."

Moments later...

Remiel had managed to find them a quaint wooden table under a large tree at the side of the plaza. The carvings on its surface and its old cedar benches reminded him of the camping grounds on Mountain Road (otherwise known as Route 45), just minutes away from his home in Blackthorn City. He pondered releasing either Lanayru or Ramone while they waited for Serenity to return with the poutine... but then decided against it. Unlike Herschel, who was happily attempting to scavenge the grass at the bottom of the tree for berries, his other two Pokémon posed certain... risks when released in a place such as this. Primarily Ramone.

Before long, Serenity returned with her Espeon in tow, handing him a bottle of fresh water and wondering if that was okay. "Water is great, thank you." He reassured her, reaching for the napkin and fork she slid over to him shortly thereafter. As he lifted his fork and spun its between his fingers, Remy eyed the goopy yet delicious-looking tray of fries before them. It was slathered in a thick brown gravy and a light scattering of cheese curds. He'd never quite smelled anything like it. "Under these circumstances," He began, stabbing the fork into a pair of fries and slowly lifting them up off the tray as they sagged downward, a small waterfall gravy cascading from their side. "I'd say the use of a fork is a pretty bright idea." For the first time since they'd met, a little half-inch smile teased the corner of Remy's lips as she looked at her. At least for a moment, before he brought the food to his mouth.

As Remiel chewed, he watched while Serenity unclipped her pokéball and released a strange bird Pokémon that he had never seen or even heard of before. The blue-grey eyes behind the panels of his glasses glistened with interest as he watched it squawk and ruffle its feathers. The noise prompted Herschel to hastily retreat into his apple and roll his way over between Remiel's legs and under the wooden bench. The young man in question, however, leaned forward with arms crossed over the edge of the table as Serenity continued speaking. She only had two Pokémon and was nervous about fighting a sponsored league trainer. Remiel saw the logic in that. He was also concerned about his Pokémon getting seriously hurt. Even then, loss was a natural part of growth and improvement. Any Dragon-type trainer worth his salt knew that. There was no backing down from challenge.

Though this was a tenet he had, admittedly, broken a few times himself...

Oblivious to many things in the social spectrum, Remiel didn't catch wind of any awkwardness in her laugh, and didn't quite understand why she had apologized (yet again). Even though he had already learned her name, she saw fit to introduce herself properly. Which, in turn, prompted him to do the same. "Pleasure meeting you, Serenity. My name is Remiel." He didn't add his last name, because he didn't care for the fame that came along with it. He'd almost refrained from giving it to the man at the Lanty Manure stall as well, but was afraid he would have just made a big scene and demanded it. Gearing his curiosity back towards the trainer sitting across from him, however, the black-haired youth continued. What came next was spoken plainly and matter-of-factly, as a scientist would ask a patient about symptoms or effects. Still, some found him to be a man of refreshing candor, while others interpreted him as straight to the point but rude and impolite. It was up to Serenity to dictate how she felt about his question.

"So... are you sick?"

Excalibur. Black knight.

On the stone path up to Kusugaura City, a towering young man marched, slowly approaching the large crowds of trainers, onlookers, and reports. It was a strange sight for someone like himself who grew up in a rather closed-off town in the boondocks, where everyone knew each other and nothing much of note occurred, In fact- one of the town's biggest event's this year had been the boy's going away party. The hulking boy in question was the newest knight to enter the Ironside lineage: Trenton Ironside.

the large deep blue armored boots he wore thumped on the brick road as he made his approach to the head of Kusugaura City, gaining the attention of many on looks who were, to say the least, very confused to see a young man dressed as an ironclad knight of old walking toward the sign up for the league challenge. Trenton simply waved at them all with a smile, their attention quickly is taken away from him by a massive gust of wind, sending papers and hats flying, resulting in several shouts and shaking fists to the large pokemon flying overhead. when out of the blue out popped Black knight the Rookidee, chirping angrily at the Braviary and flapping is wings around on Trenton's shoulder padding the top of the little birds head with two fingers Trenton chuckled

"Oh calm down would you, we aren't even a few strides in and you're already up to something! besides, Braviary has already flown off, making a stir about it won't get either of us anywhere." Black knight gave off a grumpy chirp before begrudgingly looking around when it's sight was filled with a flash from a Rotom camera chirping angrily again the Rookidee flitted off toward it's "Agressor" flying its way toward them over the crowd before flying around the picture takers head chirping away, as the armored boy chased after it, boots clunking across the ground before grabbing the bird like an ice-cream cone and frowning at it. "Come now! That's no way to treat someone, we're supposed to be getting to know or fellow challengers, not fighting them before we're even signed up! sorry about my eager partner here, always looking for something to be angry at this one."

Taking out a Pokeball and withdrawing the Pokemon into it and placing it on his belt next to another one, before thrusting one of his gauntleted hands forward to offer a handshake to the boy in front of him, with a smile and a nod, his cape flowing valiantly in the wind caused by the Braviary, gaining him a few new confused onlookers "Name's Trenton, Knight of the Ironside family! Any way I could make up for my pal's blunder earlier? grab you a bite to eat? bite to eat... Hm! I haven't eaten in hours! maybe I'll but myself one along with yours..." Trenton seemed to withdraw into deep thought for a moment, placing a hand on his chin and thinking as he awaited the boy's response.

"Pleasure to meet you as well, Remiel," Serenity returned, taking a bite and inaudibly humming from the deep-fried deliciousness. The small smile plastered on her face quickly turned a bit sour however, when the question came from Remiel. In truth, she was a bit taken back by how casually he said it; most people wanted to ask- she knew they did- but they shyed away everytime.

Serenity finished chewing her food and quirked her thin lips, debating on what to say next; he wouldn't have asked if he wasn't interested, right?

"I was," She said simply, wanting to stuff her gob again, but simply poking at a fry near the edge so she could continue. "I had to undergo a cordectomy. Uh, surgery on my vocal cords." She decided to add that last bit in, figuring most people weren't sure what in blazes a cordectomy was. Other than that, she stopped there; she quickly grew tired of the pitty glances she got when they found out about her situation. 'Oh, you poor child, you had cancer when you were so young! Blah,' Blah, blah and all that jazz. She understood and appreciated the sentiment, but after years of hearing it, it grew annoying.

Before he could have the chance to pitty her, she shot him a cheery smile.

"It comes in handy to make jerks like that stall manager sweat a bit, huh?" She joked, a bit pleased she had embarrassed the man earlier who mentioned it. Perhaps she shouldn't have ended that conversation with a joke- so she switched her tone to something more serious. "It's not all bad, it got me out of my home region." Serenity couldn't take the lack of food anymore, so she took another fry in her mouth. It was only a short pause before she continued talking. "Ranos is so much better, there aren't even any gyms where I'm from." By this time, Serenity was waving her fork in the air as she spoke. "I mean, we have Mt. Battle and the Collesium, but they aren't like the official League Challenge. More to make up for the fact that we have nothing, really." To be honest, she wasn't even sure he heard half of the stuff she was blurting out, but she continued anyway. "Plus it's always so hot and dusty there, moving here was probably the best decision my parents ever made." When her word vomit had subsided, she was realizing how much she had been talking about herself and how it must have sounded like complaining. She gave an embarrassed 'heh' and shoved some more food in her mouth before she spoke again- a bit slower and clearer this time.

"Sooo, you said you were a Dragon trainer, right? That's pretty cool." The girl said with a change of topic, a thought suddenly hitting her. She imagined the little apple Pokemon that hid under Remiel's feet; was that cute thing really a Dragon-type? She tried to think of the Dragon-types that lived in Orre- she could barely name two. She'd heard that Dragon tamers were some of the most skilled trainers due to how powerful and unpredictable the Pokemon were. She wouldn't lie and say she wasn't interested. "Is it hard to raise Dragons?" Was what she tried to say, but her voice came out hoarse and strained. Holding up her finger to ask for a moment, Serenity took a swig of water. "Ah, why don't you tell me about yourself. I've been talking a lot." She timidly suggested in a broken voice, hoping she could regain herself if she took a small break. She genuinely loved to talk, but sometimes she really overdid it.

Yet to realize that he'd been a little too forward, Remiel continued to peck away at the tray of poutine with his fork as she spoke, listening to every word with interest. He definitely didn't know what a 'cordectomy' was, so he was relieved when she explained, wondering exactly what had been wrong with her vocal cords to begin with. Other than a bad case of bronchitis he'd been through as a child, Remiel hadn't personally experienced or even read about much diseases or medical conditions. He'd certainly never met anyone who had gone through surgery on their vocal cords. It instinctively made him reach up to gently stroke his throat. The capacity to speak and make oneself heard... that was more precious than most people realized. The young man certainly didn't take it for granted, and was glad Serenity still had managed to keep some capacity for it, too.

As she continued to speak about her home region and her impression of Ranos so far, Remiel perked up. Another region? She didn't give him a name, but did go as far as naming some of its locales and claiming it was 'hot and dusty'. He honestly wanted to hear more about it, as his interest in other regions and cultures was something ingrained in him since childhood. But before he could manage to properly chew the food in his mouth and swallow it, she beat him to the verbal punch yet again with a question of her own. He nodded, folding his arms again with his fork carefully held between two fingers, and watching as his Applin rolled out from between his legs and looked up at him. "I grew up in Blackthorn City, so I was raised alongside a lot of Dragon-type Pokémon. My dad was a chieftain for the Dragon Den. My mother was a Pokémart pharmacist. My older brother Roland was a gym trainer."

Suddenly, the shiny green Applin would bounce off the ground and seat himself on the bench beside his dark-haired trainer. Its long and cartoonish eyes peered over the edge at the girl as she asked her question. Remiel waited for her to drink her water, a slight bit of concern in his eyes as he watched. When she finished and urged him to speak about himself for a little while, he nodded. It was probably for the best that she took a break from talking, even if he wanted to ask her more about her region of origin. "Very well... I wouldn't say training dragons is hard... but it does take a lot of patience. They're typically very proud and unpredictable creatures. Powerful, too— with or without trainers."

Herschel blinked as he shifted his gaze towards the poutine. After a few moments, however, he didn't appear too interested in having any of that. Instead, he hopped back off the bench and rolled towards the base of the tree they sat under, resuming his search for berries but keeping a cautious eye on the squawky bird. Remiel, in the meantime, dug around in the poutine with his fork, looking for something that wasn't overly slathered in gravy like the rest of his bites had been. "In the Johto region, it's common for children to take a journey with their Pokémon when they turn ten years old. But I never took that journey. Instead, I remained in my hometown to focus on my duties as a student and heir. It wasn't until my older brother came back from his travels that I realized I wanted to see more of the world and figure out my place in it... so this is my first time in another region that isn't Kanto— day two of my travels." He added, bringing a forkful of mostly dry fries to mouth as their eyes met. He couldn't remember the last time he had spoken this openly with someone. It was bizarre, but welcome.

"It's about god damn time..." he said taking his first steps into the city. It was bustling full of people, no doubt here to enter the Ranos League Challenge. Jake smirked as he scanned the crowd. All these losers traveling so far, soon they'll learn how pointless their journies are when Jake Ventus wins it all. Sure, he may have just started, and sure he may only have two pokemon, and sure one of them was stolen, but that will all change soon enough. Soon he would create the strongest team and sweep the competition faster than you can say 'Why did the Brat just pop out of his ball?'

"Raaah" the toothy dragon cried as he ran amuck through a crowd. "BRRRAAAT! GET BACK HERE!" yelled the young man as he began forcing his way through the bustling streets. Without giving a single 'excuse me' he knocked his way through the lake of humanity and stumbled upon a berry stand. A berry stand that was currently being raided by a tiny dragon. The lady running the shop panicked as the small pokemon went through half the produce. "There you are you little... return!" said the boy as he returned the berry juice covered Gible to his Pokeball. Jake sighed wondering if this is how all great trainers start out. He thought about his brother for a moment. His brother would have had a stacked team before even registering, and his pokemon certainly wouldn't escape their balls. Damnit, even now he's still comparing himself to him, forget him!

"Helloooo? Are you gonna pay for this or what!?!?" screamed the berry lady. Jake snapped out of his trance and looked at the scene. That was a lot of berries Brat had just devoured. "This is gonna cost ya $6000!" demanded the lady with her fist held out. Jake stammered for a moment, he was just about broke, he would have to think about this. Jake was a great strategist, as most top trainers are, he would come up with a solid plan to cover his weaknesses. No money, angry lady, dumb pokemon, there is only one solution. Jake sprinted in the opposite direction taking a few turns in an alley. Eventually, after feeling he was safe Jake stopped and caught his breath. He took Brat out of his ball.

"When are you gonna learn to quit being such an idiot! It's been 5 minutes since we've entered this city. 5 minutes and you already embarrassed me!" Jake scolded the little dragon. Brat stared up at his trainer with a blank toothy expression. "Get it together!" he said as he pointed a finger right in Brat's face. The pokemon smiled and nibbled on his trainer's finger. "Gah! You son of a -"

"Hey look here, another one of those rookie kids!" said some older gentleman in a black hoodie. He was accompanied by a shorter, more stout man with a backward cap. "Hey, kid, how bout we battle eh? Loser pays out $4000, actually why ask, you ain't gotta choice!" yelled the Munchlax-built man as he sent out a Poochyena, the other man sent out a Scatterbug. "Pfft, you idiots, don't you know who I am," Jake said with a sinister smirk.

Brat readied himself with an intense stare. "Brat, use Dragon Rage", Brat gave a grunt of recognition as he fired an orb at the Poochyena. Its eyes went wide as it got blasted. One-hit KO! The chubby guy gasped in surprise. Jake's other Pokeball on his waist opened as a Starly went into the sky. It began pecking the Scatterbug and backed off. "String Shot!" yelled the taller man, but Fei gracefully swerved it as he dived back down and delivered a strong peck sending the Scatterbug into a wall dazed.

"So, $4000 you say?" the two men grit their teeth and threw their money on the ground as they went running. Jake looked at his two pokemon and smirked.

Hisoka was heading back to his table when he bumped into a girl his age. The collision wasn't bad, the baked sweets just rocking around and a bit of tea splashing. A bit of it splashed on him and Hisoka let out a sharp breath at how hot it was. He stumbled back and and quickly checked to make sure nothing really had dropped. Then his attention centered back on the girl he had bumped into. She was apologizing to him, which really wasn't necessary he should've been watching where he was going. A yamper was standing next to her life it was wary of him.

"No- uh, I- umm," Hisoka started, but was having much trouble actually saying the words. "No i-it's fine.... I... I should have been w-watching where I was g-going."

If her parents found out that she was straining her voice so much, they'd be fuming; even though Serenity was techniclly an adult, they still often babied her. Sometimes their overprotectiveness got a bit suffocating, but it was nice to have parents that cared. It was a struggle to get their blessing for her to even leave on her adventure, but they eventually caved in. Thankfully they did too because she wouldn't have left otherwise- she cared too much to leave them disappointed in her.

Serenity smiled at the little Pokemon of Remiel's that was doing its own thing. Her eyes discreetly watched Herschel as his owner talked, though her ears were still focused on what he was saying. When Herschel rolled off to explore a bit, she returned her gaze to his trainer, hoping she wasn't coming off as disinterested or rude- she just couldn't help herself when it came to Pokemon, her eyes just gravitated towards them. She was genuinely interested in what Remiel had to say though and hung onto every word even if it might not have seemed like it.

Remiel's talking left Serenity time to actually eat a bit more and so she did; she noticed he had been taking more of the fries than the cheese curds, so she went for those instead. Perhaps eating as slowly as she did was good for her- helped her digest faster- because she was already getting a bit full. After only a few more cheese balls, Serenity abandoned her fork on her napkin.

The sudden scratching of Wamingo's talons on the ground caught her attention and she furrowed her brows while her eyes darted around looking for him. She noticed he had steeled his nerves a bit and went poking around the area. When the flamingo Pokemon's eyes met Herschel over by the tree, he cautiously took some wobbly steps forward. Quietly clicking her tongue to get her laying Espeon's attention, she nodded her head in the Wamingo's direction. Knowing exactly what his trainer wanted, Espeon stood and sauntered his way over to babysit the weak Water-type. Serenity's blue eyes apologetically looked back at Remiel for the interruption, but he either didn't mind or didn't notice because he continued.

"I never would have guessed you've only been here for two days." Serenity's coarse voice spoke after he was done. It was no doubt going to be like this for a while, but she didn't mind. As long as she refrained from trying to whisper too loud, she'd be fine. "I hope you like it here, despite what happened earlier. I mean..." Serenity paused for a moment to scoot herself closer, leaning over a bit and resting her elbows on the table so Remiel could hear her better. "... I'm probably not the best person to explain all of what Ranos has to offer. I've been here for a few years, but I don't get out much. I just started my own journey, actually. I came from a few towns over." A sudden, guttural hiss interrupted Serenity and she eyed her Pokemon. The small Wamingo squawked and clumsily hustled himself closer to the group at the Espeon's warning. Serenity's eyes rolled at his attempt to wander off, but she ignored them and continued.

"I would like to visit the other regions someday thought. I hear Alola and Galar are beautiful." Serenity said wistfully, imagining what she could of them with only the descriptions she's heard. "I'm a bit scared to travel overseas by myself though." She said with a smile, a little bit jealous that Remiel seemed to have already seen so much. Johto, Kanto, and now Ranos... she wondered if Remiel had seen more of Ranos in his two days than Serenity had seen in her three years of living there. A wave of excitement for the continuation of her new journey sparked in her chest. Perhaps after her own adventure, she'd gain the confidence to visit the other regions herself.

"Does the rest of your family get to travel much? They seem pretty prestigious." She noted with a slight laugh. "I'm surprised your brother had the time to travel running a gym." She noted, wondering how much of the world Remiel's brother got to see. "And you said your father was the chieftain of... the Dragon's Den?" She had never heard of it, but it made sense now why Remiel would be a Dragon Pokemon trainer. "My parents aren't anything so impressive. My dad's a construction manager and my mom works for a soda company. It gets them by, but nothing too fabulous." She admitted with a shrug. "But I would like to know more about your dad's job, what does he do? I've never heard of the Dragon's Den. Is it kind of like a Pokemon Gym?"

Rosalia Coello
When Rosalia heard about the league championship going on in Kusugaura City, she thought it would be a perfect place to meet up with her little sister Lia, who had basically just started out as a trainer. Plus her and Lia already knew their way around here so meeting up shouldn't be hard right? Well, that's what she thought anyway. After signing up Rosalia had been in the lobby of the stadium waiting for Lia to arrive and well she never showed up. Trainer after trainer arrived but no sign of Lia anywhere. "You have got to be kidding me." As she was sitting there waiting, her pokemon Squirtle, who was out of his Pokeball, had fallen asleep on the floor by her feet. Finally, after another hour had passed Rosalia decided she was going to have to go find her. She stood up from her chair and nudged Squirtle with her foot. "Come on wake up we have to find Lia" She put her backpack on and headed out to find Lia with Squirtle following behind her.

Trying to find Lia in this crowd was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. That girl could have been anywhere. Finally, as it seemed she was getting absolutely nowhere she started asking around hoping maybe someone saw her. She walked to a guy with a Toxel sitting on top of his head hoping maybe he could help. "Hey excuse me? I'm looking for my little sister. She looks similar to me but shorter and has blue eyes. Have you seen her? She should have Mimi pokemon with her." Jeez, that description was probably no help if only I had a picture. She thought to herself.

Lia Coello
Lia was new trainer excited to see where this new journey would take her but unfortunately, she was off to a slow start. She ended up choosing a Mimi for her pokemon and named him Micael. She was so excited to have her first pokemon and even though it hadn't been that long they bonded quickly except there was one problem Micael is frightened almost by everything which makes it hard for poor Lia to really catch any pokemon or even have any battles. But she refuses to give up and is determined to turn Mimi into a strong pokemon. Though it might be good to try to catch another pokemon whose braver. Today Lia is supposed to meet up with her older sister, Rosalia, at the stadium but Lia had gotten sidetrack. She ran into friends stopped by booths and shops. It was so crowded but also a lot of fun. She had completely forgotten she was supposed to meet up with her sister. She didn't remember until a lady who was fixing her an ice cream cone asked if she was signing up for the championship. "Championship?" Lia blinked with a slightly confused look on her face and then slowly she came to a realization. "ROSA!!! I completely forgot! I was supposed to meet up with her at the stadium!" She reached up to the top of her head to grab Micael when she suddenly realized he was gone. ".....Hey, lady wasn't there a pokemon on my head?" She said to the ice cream woman. See when Lia was getting ice cream Micael had gotten spoked by a Charizard that was trying to say hello and hopped off Lia's head and ran off. The ice cream woman looked at Lia's head. "Oh yeah there was I didn't see where it went though." Lia frantically started to look around. "MICAEL!" She yelled out. Though with this crowd it would be a miracle if he heard her. "Oh no not again...Alright, time to super search!" She rolled up her sleeves and sprinted off through the crowd search of her pokemon. "Hey, little girl wait! You forgot your ice cream!" the ice cream woman called out. But Lia didn't hear her she was long gone.

Micael who had finally calmed down and stopped running noticed he was lost and Lia was nowhere to be found. Realizing this he started to tear up and he squeaked. Just then he noticed a boy with a train of pokemon falling him. He kind of wanted to follow them but two of the pokemon looked kind of scary then again him being scared was what got him into this mess in the first place. He thought maybe if he followed this train of pokemon he'd find Lia. Well, it made sense to him anyway so he got in line with the train pokemon wondering where the boy was leading them to.

As Akela explored the city with his family, occasionally having to call his Pokemon back as they tended to wander off and explore on their own. As him and his family were about to sit down at an outdoor cafe for him to have a bite to eat, he heard Remia let out a quiet confused sound. Akela was distracted from trying to order to look back at his baby Pokemon. She was trying to examine a strange pokemon that they definitely didn't have in Alola. Marin looked at the strange Pokemon and let out a comforting sound, asking in Pokemon who they were, etc etc. The strange Pokemon seemed terrified, a lot like how scared Fang was right now about the strange Pokemon. Finally, Akela knelt down to the Pokemon's level and put down Mikyun to his side, "Hey little guy." Akela smiled softly at the Pokemon and held out his hand in friendship with the terrified Pokemon, "It's alright. We're not gonna hurt you. Are you lost buddy?" Akela kept his tone as calm and soothing as he could, it was the same tone he took with Fang when they'd first met.

Farrel rolled her eyes at this, rolling to go side under one of the tables. Froakie happily croaked and hopped around the frightful Pokemon, excited to have a new playmate as the scared Pokemon whimpered out. Remia was still curious about the stranger, looking the strange Pokemon up and down. She soon made a happy noise, as she was excited to make a new friend. Mikyun remained quiet, eyeing up the Pokemon curiously before nodding. Mikyun seemed to approve. Fang was trying to nestle himself into Akela's hat, he was frightful of this stranger who'd just joined them as they'd been walking around.

Akela continued trying to comfort the clearly lost Pokemon, "Don't worry, we'll help you get home. We're all very nice. Even-" Akela turned to gesture at Farrel, only to find her several feet away glaring at them from under the table, "Even Farrel, she's a sweetheart under all that armor. I swear." Even if his words hung hollow for the Ferroseed, he'd meant the rest were generally great and kind. The Pokemon still seemed scared, but they weren't running away. If anything, they seemed somewhat comforted by Akela's assurances.

Whoever had lost this sweetie Pokemon was clearly negligent and didn't deserve such a cutiepie. Oh well, people who didn't deserve Pokemon had them all the time. It wasn't too uncommon no matter how depressing it was.

As he chewed his food, Serenity finally worked up a response, prompting him to listen intently despite the background noise. When she expressed her hope that he liked Ranos so far, Remiel nodded. He really hadn't had much time to enjoy what it had to offer, or really know what it had to offer in the first place. But so far things were good. What really interested him was how she'd managed to shelter herself away from it all, even after all these years. He supposed her condition was reason enough, but... she was out here now, wasn't she? There had to be something else.

His brother Roland seemed to be the complete opposite of the girl. While she had been too wary of traveling to other regions alone, Roland had ventured out from Johto at the young age of ten, and had hardly come back since. When he did settle down, he had a three-year tenure as a gym trainer in Blackthorn City in his early twenties before venturing out again, and exploring one of the very regions she had mentioned: Galar. Remiel himself wasn't wary of traveling alone. He was simply the kind of person that liked to prepare before doing so, and didn't feel there was any rush at all. "Roland didn't really run the gym. He was just one of its trainers... though I suppose I did see him mopping the floors once." That didn't exactly count as 'running the gym' though, did it? He supposed it was just a notable memory for him.

"As for my father," Remiel continued, looking over his shoulder to check on Herschel. The little green apple had been spooked into the comfort of his home by the flamingo, but was now peeking out to see if the coast was clear. "He's just one of its chieftains. But, uh... well, my namesake... it comes from the founder of Blackthorn City. So I guess that's why most of the chieftains turn to my father whenever a big problem arises." The young lad turned back to face Serenity, carefully gauging the expression in her eyes. He didn't necessarily have to reveal all that to her, and Arceus knew he hated doing so anyway. But something compelled him. Maybe just curiosity? Maybe he would have felt wrong otherwise, as though he were keeping a terrible secret.

Regardless, he got to hear a little bit about her own family and was very much pleased to turn away the spotlight from his own. They definitely sounded a lot more typical than his dad or brother... but he found that nice. "It must have been peaceful growing up..." He remarked, forking a cheese curd and fry and popping it into his mouth. His own mom had been your run-of-the-mill pharmacist. Most of his childhood was spent with her while his dad and brother were out running errands. Those days had certainly been peaceful. Just then, however, the conversation snapped back to his dad again. Remy swallowed his food, taking a moment to think before setting his fork down on a napkin.

After folding his hands across his lap, he answered. "Mm, well... not exactly. The Dragon's Den is what a lot of people would consider a sanctuary for dragon Pokémon. It's actually where Dratini was discovered to be alive, a while back. Despite textbooks having said they were extinct or mythical. My father, and the other chieftains, look after the Pokémon there and ensure the den is maintained. But it also acts as a sort of rite of passage for dragon tamers in the Johto region as well... it's typically very closely tied to the Blackthorn City gym leader." Feeling a slight bump against his leg again, Remiel paused to look down before picking his green Applin up and onto his lap. "But anyhow, this battle we'll be taking part in later this evening... if you're nervous about joining it we don't have to, Serenity."

Herschel blinked as it stared at her, then simpered as it happily chirruped. It probably didn't know what they were talking about, but it liked the girl well enough to want to comfort her. Remiel, in the meantime, used the sleeve of his short to polish away the smudges on the surface of the green apple.

Serenity almost snorted in sarcastic laughter when Remiel mentioned that her life must have been 'peaceful'. Peaceful was the biggest understatement of the year- her childhood was in fact so peaceful, that it heavily crossed into the territory of boring! She said nothing however and watched him take a breath and set his fork down much like she did, almost as if he were preparing or bracing himself for what he was about to say next, though his expression remained almost as stoic as the moment she met him.

"That sounds amazing," Serenity cooed, her eyes glimmering with intrigue at Remiel's explanation of the Dragon's Den. When he paused to pick up his Herschel, so many questions bubbled up in Serenity's head. However, they all stopped short when he changed the subject just as quickly as it had arrived. She got the feeling then that Remiel didn't seem like he wanted to talk about it. She understood the feeling and decided not to pursue it. Instead, she put on a smile at his and Herschel's care for her feelings of the upcoming battle and waved a dismissive hand.

"Oh, I'm terrified," She said cheerfully, "But how would we look if we just bailed? Especially after all my tough talk." So being humiliated over the big screen wasn't on Serenity's bucket list, but deep in her gut she felt obliged to participate. She couldn't run away from all her problems, especially if she had to guts to intervene in a matter that wasn't even involving her.

"Plus..." Her eyes drifted to her Pokemon as she trailed off- the small Wamingo slowly and clumsily trying to pass the Espeon to wander off to who-knows-where, while her Espeon unamusingly sat in his path, swatting his paw down in front of the flamingo to make him stumble back, only for it to try again and again. "... I've registered for the League Challenge. If I can't buckle up now, I won't make it very far, will I?" Watching the actions of her Pokemon, she sighed- that match will be over before it even starts. Unless Remiel could pull some crazy Champion-level skills from his sleeve. Shooting Remiel a cheeky, toothy grin, Serenity rubbed the back of her neck.

"I'd like to think of this as a... trial of what's to come." She said optimistically. "Why did you bring it up? Do... you not want to do it?" She hadn't even bothered to ask him earlier, she just kind of accepted it. Now that she realized he probably didn't even want to participate, she felt guilty.

"I'm really sorry I didn't even bother to ask." She apologized, crossing her arms over her abdomen. "I guessed I just assumed a battle wouldn't be a big deal for a trainer participating in the League Challenge. But... you aren't here for that, are you?" Now that she actually thought about all Remiel had told her, not once had he mentioned coming to Ranos for the League Challenge. He had said he wanted to visit other regions, said he was traveling. Feeling a bit silly, she forced a laugh.

"I should have known better to assume, haha... ah..." Quickly, she shook off her embarrassment and took a sip of water after feeling her throat tickle a bit. "I wouldn't be upset if you didn't want to do it. I have two Pokemon, after all." No, she wouldn't be upset at all if Remiel decided not to battle. She would face that League trainer by herself if that's what he wanted.

Katherine Suzuki walked through Kusugaura, heading towards the large stadium in the center of town where the pokemon league championship was hosted each year. Today she would finally sign up for the tournament that was all the rage over the Ranos region, for pokemon trainers and fans alike. It was one thing to battle in a gym in her home region, as the gym battles were more privatized, but in the Ranos region there were large stadiums where they hosted the gym battles, where fans could watch. The whole notion of having people watch your battle made Katherine a bit nervous, but she was ready to take up the challenge and become a pokemon trainer.

After a long walk to the stadium Katherine finally made it to the registration desk. The lady at the counter was very kind and easily signed her up for the tournament, even giving Katherine pamphlets on several things about the Ranos region. not that Katherine needed them, she had learned about the region from her Father, a former gym leader and now a pokemon researcher. She knew that the league championship consisted of beating eight gyms, then participating in a round robin tournament to fight the current champion of the pokemon league. She also knew that the gyms were unlike other regions, while gyms in other regions are type based the ones in the Ranos region are concept based, meaning that rather than using pokemon of a certain type they use an overall idea or concept that links pokemon together, such as where they might be found or things they have that make them similar. An example of this is the first gym in Farmingson which uses pokemon that are found on farms and do farm work.

Katherine walked out of the stadium, ready to start her adventure, but first some food. She began to walk down the street and hope she could spot a restaurant that wasn't packed full of people. She proceeded down the street looking around and hoping to find something, as she heard shouts about events going on later in the evening and looked at the food stands that were near by, there were a lot of things she could be doing but for Kathrine she just wanted to get out on the road and start her journey.

Information Hey everyone, so starting soon we will begin to get into proceeding forward with this roleplay in the sense that we will be starting the league championship. I've added a map (a pretty bad one, but still a map) to the regional information tab, with the cities that have gyms in them. The first gym is in Farmingson and as mentioned in my post it will have pokemon that can be found on a farm, so take that as you will. Outside of that you can level your pokemon up to level 20 before the first gym but I expect a few things before that:
1. I want at least 2 written battles, this can be by yourself or with another player, or I can write for the opponent through a collab (i'll consider a pokemon catch a battle as well so long as its fleshed out enough).
2. Not so much something I want before leveling but you can catch as many pokemon as you want proceeding, but remember to write your catches out and don't go too crazy, there are a limited number of pokemon on each route so don't go catching 20 different pokemon on one route.
3. some interaction in between would be nice, its not like your going to be in one town one second in in the next another so roleplay it out a bit.

Sorry for the rules but I just want to make sure this roleplay remains interesting and doesn't die off or end to quickly.
