When Kurt mentioned it would be difficult for him to imagine how the possibly inebriated Merin could perform his duties well, she knew he needed to see it with his own eyes to believe. He took a few artifacts in hand to pass them along, and she took the rest. Hopefully she catch up to Brynjar before he dozed off. He also wanted to find Merin, he was nowhere to be found, at least on the top deck. She opened the deck door and step downstairs. Seles recalled the dwarf being fascinated by airships of the fortress. Naturally the Dwarves possessed no such technology of their own, and being curious tinkerers, an airship was a goldmine for their minds.

She went down to the small engine room where the Levistone was located. The Captains hunch was correct, and Merin was poking his nose around the engines most likely in an attempt to see how things worked. " You do know not to touch anything inside this room, yes? " she inquired " Here this is for you. A millivox, I'm passing a few around for the Unit. Please choose one." She held her hand out and showed him the available types to choose from. A necklace, an Armband, a ring and finally a bracelet.

"Ah, haha, Captain, yes, of course! I was reprimanded quite sharply already by the mechanics. I'm just sitting in the corner here, as meek as a mouse, not touching anything at all now!" He grinned, and looked down at the millivox.

"Different styles! You spoil a dwarf so. I think an armband might be more my speed." Merin said, lifting the chosen item up and latching it onto his arm.

"How long till we descend and, ah, meet out new criminal charges?" He said, and this time kept the smile on his face.

Phera took the necklace with a raised eyebrow and held it as if it was something dangerous in both hands briefly. She then grasped it by the chain and studied it closely. It was brilliant ice blue crystal on a silver chain, as a necklace she suspected would be fairly expensive item but there was more to it than that. There was more to it though, she could sense the magical energy within it, was faint a light sort of vibration. To little magic to be a threat, she believed but still enough to have an interesting application. She wondered what though. Millivox? All that said to him was that it is definitely not elven in origin. She placed the necklace into her pocket careful. "A mysterious present... How thoughtful." She commented sarcastically.

She returned to her workstation and picked up several small pouches. "Since we are giving gifts about here's mine. Catch." She began to throw the bags at her colleagues. "This is medicine. If you have a cut or burn, apply this to the wound. It is not going to heal the wound but seal it and dull the pain enough to keep you moving. Should last you about an hour. When you do get some healing help, just wash it off with some water. I would not recommend ingesting it. Gets a person quite loopy. "

" We only have three of these class of airships. But you seem really interested, so when we get back, I'll talk to one of the ship Captains. He might be able to get you in the airship program. " Seles did not want to damper the enthusiasm of someone who just wants to learn. She believed it would be good to have another member of the Unit have some knowledge of flying a scout ship, should the Norhad Swords procure more in the future. He took the armband, and was quite pleased with it. Seles was not sure how he would react, as dwarves were tinkerers and particular of the art of jewelry as well.

Before arriving in the engine room, Seles left some of the other Millivox's with the team, and had Kurt give to Phera and others on the main deck. As a small joke, she left the other armband in the room where Brynjar was sleeping. The young woman thought it would be a good wake up call for the armored adventurer when they call attention to the whole Unit. " I believe that we should be landing soon, since we're traveling light we'll do a quick drop. " the Captain explained. " Mr. Twostone would you like to do the honors? Please use the Millivox and summon the Unit to the Main deck for our arrival. "

"Of course, captain!" Merin said, grin widening. He fiddled with his new millivox and activated it.
"Good day, everyone, this is your resident Millivox operator and all around charming dwarven pal, Merin Twostone! Our lovely captain requests everyone's presence on the main deck. Today we're in for a quick drop as our destination is rapidly approaching. The sky's are clear, at least above the clouds, the birds are probably singing somewhere, and it's a lovely day for a dangerous mission for the Norhad Swords!"

He turned off the millivox and stood up from where he'd been sitting.
"Well, let's head up to the deck!"
Merin said, laughing. He was going to have fun with the Millivox. He'd make friends with everyone whether they wanted to make friends or not!

Everyone was on the main deck when Merin summoned them through the Millivox. A crew member member spotted the outpost from a distance. Captain Seles requested that they drop the Unit off by the edge of a small patch of trees that they would need to cross to get there. It was a few hundred meters to the location and the airship would be clearly visible to those inside the outpost. Without cutting the engines the Unit disembarked, this time Seles requested a few more adventurers to compliment her core team.

The mission was to be simple. Escort the prisoner back to Welwyn Territory for judgment by train. Seles felt something was off about the mission however, and it was not from the usual complaints by the type of assignment this was. She considered this work more suited to the Knights than mercenary guilds as such high profile cases were mired in politics. While the group was approaching the outpost she decided to lay out the plan.

" Listen up everyone. "
she announced. " You may have all noticed, but the location of this outpost is pretty close to the contested region between Maxwell and Lanark. Be on your guard. Sometimes enemy mercs slip pass the local patrols and prey on unsuspecting caravans or whatnot. " Seles explained. She did not want to alert the Unit of her concerns just yet, but the facts she stated were no less important. The group was making their way through the small forest patch. Through the spaces between trees, the outpost became more visible. " Brynjar, Merin, you're with me, half of you adventurers as well. " she ordered to half the group. " Phera, Kurt. The rest of you stay by the tree line for now. They were probably not expecting a larger group for just an escort. "

ENGAGEMENT SCENARIO

  • E.S. Maxwell Ambush.jpg
The closer they arrived to the designated location the more the group became suspicious of what was going on. They approached the battered outpost cautiously. Instead of being greeted with the appropriate authorities, it was clear the men stationed at the location were not of the Maxwellian military. Their weapons already drawn they charged the group. By now, everyone realized the whole thing was a trap. But the question remains why. They would only find out if they survived.

Kurt's bad feelings about this journey were reconfirmed by the appearance of enemies. What was supposed to be an escort job was quickly turning into something more than it was worth. Kurt verbally expressed his frustration, "All this for a damn prisoner, what a joke!" He quickly unslung his rifle and looked at his targets approaching from a distance. These guys should know better than running straight for him. "Fucking amateurs." Kurt said gauging the distance and studying the enemies coming for him. There were 5 of them and they were coming fast. It was time to start dwindling their numbers. Taking a few steps from the tree line, Kurt looked down the sights of his rifle, lining up his first target, a merc in the center of the group.

He took a deep breath, resting his finger on the trigger before pulling it. One shot rang out, followed by another two a few seconds apart. The three shots traveled down range towards his target in the center of the group. All three shots hit it's target, the merc quickly hitting the ground as a result of Kurt's gunfire. The man was dead after the hail of gunfire, nobody gets up after being hit like that. Kurt was visibilly satisfied by the result, one less enemy to worry about. He pulled the lever on his rifle, the empty casing flying out of the gun onto the ground. He had two rounds left in his rifle before he had to reload and he planned on making them count.

He stole a glance to the rest of his comrades who were separated from him. He hoped they were faring well, especially with this group of amateurs. Kurt returned his focus again to the enemies who now had increasingly closed the gap. Damn merc's had to ruin his day. "The closer you get, the easier you'll be for me to shoot!" Kurt said taunting the mercenaries. He began to start lining up another one, if he could get their numbers down to where it was manageable, he would feel more at ease.

Phera sighed looking out towards the outpost and seeing the enemy reveal themselves ahead an attempt to attack them. The ambush could be seen a mile a way and it seemed not to be lost by many of their number. It wasnt even a well done ambush. An obvious ambush wasnt the worst of it, neither had the enemy head cut off their retreat or sought a battlefield that did limit the opposition in any way. If she had to try the ambush, she would wait until the enemy was inside the outpost, shut the gates and fall on them. She was no tactician and the plan may not work, but she knew for sure that it was a better idea than this. However, it was what it was, and she just had to be grateful that the ambush would at least be easily be beaten.

"You said it, Kurt." She said with a smirk at his comment about their enemies' amateurism. She studied the battlefield and tried to decide what to do. Her spells wouldn't be much good from this range so she had to hold back for a moment. She took the time to watch Kurt in action, she had to admit it was an impressive sight to see. The concentration and accuracy. It reminded her of the archers of her home village, deadly accurate and fast firing. Thought the dwarven rifle lacked the elegance of a longbow with the smoke, godless noise and smell.

"Lets give you something to fire, master gunner." She said as the enemy neared their position. She stepped forward and began the incantation and gesture for her shock spell, aiming it at the closest the merc nearing them. She fired the electric charge and once more it stuck true, she saw the merc stumble back as the spell struck. The merc seemed to start tensing up, twitching and moving his limps in strange ways as he groaned in pain. Phera then drew her sword and held her sword ready in defence, ready to meet the rest that would approach her.

ENGAGEMENT SCENARIO

  • The small group charging the Captain and her divided unit were hit from afar by Phera's magic and Kurt's firearm. The rest however managed to close the gap and with weapons drawn hurled themselves at Merin, Kirva Seles and Bryjar and the rest. Little did they know, the melee fighters would respond in kind. Atop the wall, 2 long range archers could be spotted their goal was to pick off the weak or the troublesome of the group. Arrows were therefore raining down on the further positions.

Kirva
NEAR OUTPOST

Still quite groggy after taking an unexpectedly strong liquor the night before, Kirva was standing with her allies, but her presence of mind was effectively nowhere. That was, at least, until some ruffian decided to charge at her with a blade.

Triggering her instincts, Kirva reflexively tried to avoid the blade, but to no avail. The grunt's serrated knife pierce her upper right torso, causing a bleeding incision to emerge near her shoulder. Fortunately, the pain shook off the unnecessary and put Kirva back to her senses. With a growl, swiped the man's hands away from his arm, which was still plunged deep into Kirva's flesh - which she forcefully took out and threw somewhere else.

Somehow, that struck a different enemy.

The grunt didn't plan on stopping however, as he brought out another dagger from his cloak. He prepared to launch another attack towards Kirva.

Unfortunately, fate had different plans for the poor ruffian. Kirva was faster than he could react, and immediately grabbed him by the neck, raised him up and slammed him down. The sheer impact of his landing was enough to put him out of commission. Enraged, Kirva didn't stop - she once more, lifted his body and threw him towards a nearby tree.

The ruffian's head was the first to make contact with the plant's hard trunk, crushing his skull in the process - effectively ending his short-lived battle with the awakened beast.

Without regard for strategy or the situation at hand, Kirva roared and charged onward, leaving a trail of blood upon the path she took. "Damned bastards! I'll get you all!"

Kurt retrieved a few rounds from his pocket and loaded it into his rifle. His gaze shifted to Phera as she used the spell on the merc. It seemed to slow him down a great deal but he still moved on. He pointed his rifle down range and was preparing to take a shot, "I got-" He was caught off when an arrow struck him in his right shoulder. He momentarily lost his focus before realizing that another one was on the way, swiftly moving to his left to avoid the second arrow. He winced at the pain in his right shoulder. The stiffness would be annoyance but nothing that Kurt couldn't manage. He grabbed the arrow with his right hand and pulled it out, blood starting to stain his clothing. He was lucky that the arrow didn't hit any of his vital areas. He dropped the arrow on the ground and immediately turned his attention back to the battlefield.

Using his Eagle eye ability, his eyes shifted from it's usual brown to red as he scanned the outpost. He found the two culprits responsible for the arrows, "Damn them." He said to himself as he turned off his ability. His gaze quickly shifted to that of his comrades and it seemed that the mercs were now upon them. I better take those guys out before I start targeting the ones on the wall. He readied his rifle again taking aim at a different target this time. Brynjar seemed to be taking on two mercs at this time and lightening up his load would help him in his battle. Kurt shot at one of the mercs attacking Brynjar, three rounds moving down range again. This time though, only one round struck the merc who still seemed to be standing but barely. He cursed himself for missing and grabbed his shoulder in pain again. The kick from the gun kept hitting his open wound making it worse.

He turned his attention to Phera once again and spoke,
"It would probably be best if we could link up with the others, being separated like this isn't all that good." He turned his attention to the battle that was going on and particularly looked at Kirva who seemed to be going into a rage, "It seems that they're not fairing all that well." Kurt grabbed his shoulder once again. His wound was going to make shooting hard. If he was alone, he would have already moved forward but he wasn't quite sure Phera felt the same way. If she had a better idea, he was all ears.

Merin took cover behind the wagon and began to load Gudrid with one of his heavy bullets. He could do it quickly, usually, but the bandits or mercenaries or whatever they were had come out of nowhere.

It was only moments after Merin had started that one of the men rounded the corner of the wagon, sword raised, his compatriots engaged with Merins other comrades. He spotted the dwarf and grinned.

"Ha! No one... Taller for me to fight?" He asked, sword in front of him.

Merin snorted, and finished loading his gun. The bandits blade lashed out but Merin was more than ready for it. He stepped to the side and grabbed the man's wrist, using his stocky dwarven frame to twist, wrenching the sword from his hands. The man tried to pull away, but Merin didn't let go. He yanked the man towards him, and twisted his arm behind his back with one of his big dwarven hands, forcing him to his knees, bowing away from Merin, as if Merin was making him to apologize to the rest of the group for his foolishness.

Merin put Gudrid to the back of the man's head, the bandits arm still trapped by Merins hand. But Merins gun was loaded. He only needed a finger to pull the trigger now.
"Wait a second. I-I surrender."
"Sorry. I don't take prisoners." Merin said, smiling apologetically. Merin pulled the trigger, and the heavy bullet he'd loaded pulped the bandits skull into an unpleasant mess.
"A little overkill, maybe." Merin said, taking a moment to wipe the blood off of Gudrids barrel before turning to take cover behind the cart. He loaded another bullet, and took aim at one of the archers.

Kirva
NEAR OUTPOST

As Kirva charged onward, she came to pass by some of her allies who were under attack by the enemy. Though they are at a complete numbers disadvantage, everyone seems to be holding up their positions quite well. Often times, the best way to tackle it would be with some form of retreating strategy, but Kirva had no such things in her mind at the moment - to her, there was only one way out, and that was to advance by overwhelming the enemy with sheer force.

And that is exactly what she did. Without regard for things such as battle etiquette and honorable combat, she charged to foes that were being kept occupied by others.

As she was running to close the distance, something on her back seemed to glow in a faint red light. Slowly, her arms and legs would be enveloped in a vibrant fire, though such flames didn't seem to burn nor hurt her - as there were no signs of pain shown on her face. Once she reached her destination, she quickly launched a flaming left hook towards an unsuspecting grunt - striking him right at the center of his chest, and sending him flying a few meters away as the momentum of her strike dictated.

Said grunt would be seen unconscious, with an evident burn mark on his chest.

With one down, Kirva went onto the next. Unfortunately, her charge this time was heard fairly early, and allowed the enemy to take a step to completely avoid her attack. And witnessing the sight of a seemingly wild woman in front of him, with her limbs engulfed in fire, surprised the grunt.

"What the hell?", he uttered.

"The next one won't miss."
, Kirva taunted the enemy, cracking her knuckles as further intimidation.

  • PHASE 3
One by one these mercenaries fell at the hands of the Norhad Swords Adventurers. Meanwhile, the two standing near the entrance, went back inside the walls of the outpost. When the came out, they were mounted onto Wargs, ferocious pack hunters for animals. As the 2 leaders charge, one of the mercenaries returns to the outpost and takes up the archer position of the person who was taken out. Now the group had to contend with the leaders and their mounts as well. The one with the pike went straight for Merin while the other armed with an axe circled back to attack Phera from the side.

Seles was glad that she did not bring the entire group to the outpost. Her gut was right, the mission was a trap, but what was the purpose. She could not take her mind off the matter even during battle. Forging a Royal Commission from the kingdom affairs office was no small feat. Whoever set this up had connections to higher authorities than the nobles who ran the Office. Seles wondered if this was an attempt on her for a previous mission. While their position was compromised, the assistance from the remaining forces stationed near the tree line helped them out of a quick jam. Her Unit performed efficiently and soon many of these third rate mercenary scum were bleeding their life away. Those involved in this trap grossly underestimated her Unit, and the forces of the Norhad Swords in general it seemed.

" Merin! Kirva! Brynjar! , those 2 must be the leaders. Concentrate our attack on those guys. I'll take care of the rest. We need to let Phera, Kurt and the others regroup with us. Don't underestimate them! " she yelled to her group. Seles came out from cover with her blade drawn. She ran towards the outpost and realized a new archer took position where the previous ones were downed. Using the point of her sword she aimed high towards the opening as the Archer was targeting elsewhere. Crystal shards of ice started to materialize around the point before she released it with incredible speed. The shards pierced the narrow window breaking apart the surrounding stone and taking out the last archer. The Captain then turned her attention to the remaining ones on the field, charging towards one of them she clashed with his weapon before he pushed them apart. She ducked under the following attempt and swiped the guy with Skyeliner. The man's momentum did not allow him to recover and he fell hard.

The last of the ambush group traded blows with Seles until she had enough and tripped the man while he ran. She then pointed to the man with her sword as he lay on the ground. To ensure he would not get up again she blasted him with the same shards of ice that took out the archer. " I've got a bad feeling. " She uttered quietly. " Let's go Norhad Swords! Make them meet their maker!!"

Phera had nodded at Kurt's suggestion to link back up with the rest of their crew. They joined up with the group and things seemed to be going well, the group cut down one enemy soldier after the other. They did not seem to be a particularly skilled group of mercenaries against them, the only pain was the archers raining arrows down from above, but they seemed to be quickly neutralized. Phera supported where she could with magic and sword just behind the main line of fighter but in truth she didn't do much, her fighter and ranged colleagues were very efficient on their own.

They were nearing the gate when the leader's appeared mounted on wargs. Wargs, another creature she was surprised to see tamed enough to be mounted but had no interest in trying on her own. Even the Elves did not much like the wargs and attempted to cull them whenever possible. She prepared to fight focusing on one of the warg riders and preparing to cast a spell when the second seemed to appear mere meters away. She had only noticed its present when the Warg snarled, and she turned to her left to be greeted by the sight of the second rider with an axe bearing down on her. She just barely raised her sword to block the riders swipe from the axe and step away. However, she was too late to block the blow but moved out the way enough to save her head from be separated from her body. The blade of the axe though still got to Phera shoulder leaving behind a cut.

She stumbled and groan, instinctively moving her opposite hand to feel the wound. It smarted badly and was bleeding but did to seem that deep. She snarled feeling angry at the opportunistic wag rider and wanted some payback. She tried to lay on the attacker, seeing him ride away to far for her to reach with her blade. Therefore, she prepared another shock spell, performing both gesture and incantation. By the time she was ready the rider had turned the warg for another attack at her. She found herself hesitating a little at the prospect of another attack for a split seconds before she took control of herself. She fired the spell intending to target the rider but striking the warg instead. The warg yelped as it was strike stumbling into a hold suddenly almost throwing the rider of the animal but he seemed to stumble to hold on. The warg attempted to move but spasmed slowing it movement despite the rider attempting to spur it forward.

The Wargs appeared out of nowhere, two huge slaver beasts with riders straddling their backs as, not so much riding them as being taken along for a ride.

Merin dropped Gudrid and fumbled on his belt for something, anything that might help him here. His hand alighted on what he had been working on that morning back at base. Merin shrugged, pulled his goggles up around his face, and shouted.

"Avert your eyes everybody!"

He wanted to throw it, but one of the Wargs was on him already so he didn't so much as throw it as smash it into the beasts face with his hands. It burst, the blinding light manageable behind his goggles, though he hissed as it scorched his hand. He knew the beast wouldn't be so lucky. Numerous failed experiences had taught Merin how powerful the light produced by this mix of chemicals was. Spending half a day only being able to see blurs was unpleasant.

The Warg was already charging, though, and lashed out blindly, Merin right in front of it. And though Merin tried his best to roll out of the way, it's jaws managed to gouge a chunk out of his calf.

Merin hissed in pain, and scuttled away, as silently as he could, hoping he now held the advantage that the thing was blind, and hopefully the rider too, though perhaps he'd heard Merin shout 'avert your eyes'

As Kurt linked up with the group, the situation did not seem to get any better. Who he assumed were the leaders retreated briefly and then they had returned with Wargs. "Fantastic". He mumbled to himself before putting a few more rounds into his firearm. By the time he did that, the wargs were upon them and one was going straight for Phera. He tried to line up a shot but was struck by two arrows. The first arrow hit him in his hip and the other in the thigh. He fell to one of his knees briefly, trying to take the pain in. He didn't have time to attempt to take the arrows out and blood was profusely pouring from the wounds. He wasn't going to last any longer if he received more hits like this. As he was trying to take in the pain, he heard the dwarf yell and like he said, he looked in the other direction. A bright flash of light appeared and Kurt looked back once it was over. The warg was clearly dazed and an opportunity arose for Kurt.

Kurt lined up his sights to one of the leaders and let go a hail of bullets. Smoke arose from his weapon after firing three rounds within a short period of time. The results could have been better for Kurt. Two rounds did indeed hit him but none of the shots seemed fatal. Luck was not on Kurt's side today it seemed. He was growing increasingly frustrated with the current engagement, between the pain and what he thought was a subpar performance in battle. He slowly lifted himself up from his knee and stood though his standing was not as steady as it was before receiving the two arrows. The arrows stuck out from his body and he almost considered ripping them out like before but if he took his eyes off one of the leaders, they could easily cut him down. He'd have to wait for now.

It was so disabled and disoriented that the beast left the battlefield to tend to its condition. Kurts shots impacted the other leader that he fell off his mount, but the Warg stayed nearby and lunged at Kirva at the order of its master. Getting to his feat after his beast ran away disgracefully the Axe merc swung his axe around as it was revealed to be tied to a chain and shot it towards Brynjar. The Pike merc tries to pierce Kurt.

Amid a field of slain bodies and cold blood, Seles and her Unit were able to do away with these men that ambushed them. Everyone was still on edge, as if waiting for another ambush to happen. Cautiously, Captain Klarth ordered reconnaissance of the outpost. The group entered, but they saw was probably not what they expected. Inside they found the bodies of the mercenaries archers they hit from afar, however they were bodies of actual Maxwellian soldier in their midst. Other bodies of mercenaries could be seen, ones that did not belong to anyone that they engaged. After quick discussion among themselves, they deduced that the soldiers, were the individuals, they Unit was supposed to meet, and that they were killed by these mercenary rogues for whatever reason. " I don't think there are any survivors. But let's be thorough and quick about it everyone. "

" Quick someone go up the tower and keep a sharp eye on the surroundings, we don't want to get caught in another ambush. Anyone injured, take this time to dress your wounds. "
Seles wanted to see if there really was a prisoner that needed transport. Entering the building, among the dead, she found someone who was still bound by the hands, stabbed in the chest. She lingered over the body pondering what the motivation was for this incident. Seles went out and gathered everyone. " We need to get out of here. It's possible, the soldiers sent a courier for reinforcements. "

With the battle being over, Kurt was not in the best mood. The wounds that were inflicted upon him were not to his liking and once inside the camp, he slid against the wall in pain and sat down to address his wounds. He wasn't even going to bother trying to make an attempt to try and go up the tower, his condition would not let him. He pulled the arrows that remained in his body out and retrieved a few bandages from a pouch that he had on him. Kurt immediately began apply the badnages to the several wounds littered around his body. His clothes were stained with blood but it didn't show as much due to the black cloth that he wore. He barely finished applying the bandages before they were beckoned to get moving again.

Kurt tried to get up but failed the first time, he tried again and finally was able to get on his feet. Once on his feet, he winced in pain as the wounds still were ever present. "It seems that I got more than I bargained for." He said to himself as walked over to his captain with a slight limp. He sure as hell was in no position to try and flee but a conflict with Maxwellian soldiers would do them no good as well. "Running does seem like a good option right now but I'm not quite sure I'll be able to keep up in my condition." Kurt said to the captain expressing his worries. If they tried to move on and were caught out in the open, the soldiers would probably have a field day with them. He wanted to hear the captains opinion on the matter and time was of the essence.

Kurt was the first to express his concerns, a few more began to murmur about why they were attacked and what they should do now. Seles pulled from her coat a piece of paper. She had taken it off one of the leader mercenaries before entering the outpost. She showed it to the unit. " It's a transcript from the Norhad Swords, it has both the insignia and the seal of the Kingdoms Affairs Office. " The Captain crumpled the paper in her fist. An ambush that kills both the the Norhad Swords Unit and the Maxwellian detachment and a realistic transcript of orders by the Kingdom Affairs Office. A legitimate mission that is to fail and the blame would rest solely on the Norhad Swords.

" We have no choice. "
Seles whispered to the group. She signaled the member on the tower to call everyone back to the gate. " This was more than an ambush, it was a Goddamn setup! " she yelled. When everyone had gathered, Seles handed a special milivox to Kurt. " I know you're not in the best shape, but I need your eyes right now. Take point, and call the Captain of the Wings of Inverness. Priority Rendezvous. Take the map and find a recognizable area to have him get us. " Seles, took up the rear of the convoy to cover everyone.

With the battle over, Imrae sighed trying to settle herself down. Her heart was palpitating hard as adrenaline still flowed through her body making her on edge. It was a tough fight and the brush with Wang had shaken her little, and she was embarrassed by it. She sheathed her blade and placed her hands behind her back, worried that the were noticeably shaking as she approached her regrouping colleagues. She tried hard to appear casual. "Use the herbs I gave you Kurt that is why I gave them to you." She commented after hearing Kurt' concerns.

She remained silent when she heard about the transcript Seles had found. She found herself chuckling at the revelations. "So we are patsies. Why would this Kingdom Affair place do this to us?" She asked curiously. "Or is it because we are mercenaries and easy for people to blame when things go wrong?" She thought out loud. Meanwhile, her adrenaline was slowly ebbing and while it did relax her it also showed how tired she was and make her feel the effects of being knocked about by the warg. "Ouch... I would recommend a little time for R&R. Particularly get a bite to eat." She advised.

Abandoning the outpost and walking through the small clearing littered with the bodies of the mercenaries they took down, the group proceeded towards the forest area they came out of. From there Kurt was to secure a location and contact the Airship Wings of Inverness for assistance. Seles observed the others as they walked. It was clear that some in her Unit were not accustomed to such battles. The previous mission, they encountered a dangerous situation as well, but the opponents this time were humans as opposed to monsters and wild beasts. When she heard Phera sigh she replied: " Everyone, don't let your guard down just yet. " Although not wanting to be dismissive of Phera's feelings, she did not want them to relax only to be forced into another situation like they just faced.

" We're all just pawns Phera. " the young woman could not help but agree with her contemporary. " It's not unheard of that requestors turn out to be deceivers.... but. " she paused slightly recalling the ideas that went through her head about this conspiracy. " I don't know.... our requestor is the highest office in the land. The Kingdom Affairs Office fall under the direction of the Royal Family and Honor Families. " IF her hypothesis regarding the deception of the Kingdom Affairs Office turned out to be true, the most powerful people in the land wanted this mission to go awry. " Let's first head into the forest. Stopping to rest in the in the open here would expose us too much. " As soon as they were under cover of the trees, the Captain called for a 10 minute respite to address their wounded and fatigued.
