Realistic or Modern The Pioneering Roommates

Josh grinned, “Well, it seemed like it was a few hours. Supposing time flies when you are enjoying yourself as opposed to something like math class when Halley’s comet will return before it ends. Gentleman Wolf. Both you and me.”

Josh reclined on his bed and put his hands behind his head, “You still stuffed? I’m not so stuffed. I might munch on a couple of Mandarin oranges or a slice of bread with peanut butter before calling it a night. You bet, definitely worth going back to. Tomorrow, maybe I’ll have time to write a quickie review for my Foodballs blog. If you want to share your experience, I can add that also.” Josh opened his mouth to voice what he was thinking of saying about Burger Dome when the phone rings. He makes a sour face of sympathy when he sees Matt’s reaction. Our moms ought to meet each other.

“Ma says hi.” Josh mouths softly, “Hi to you also ma’am.” He picks up a spiral notepad and lays on his stomach and writes what he’s thinking of posting to the blog. The writing is mostly chicken scratch English mixed with Japanese characters in case he wanted to post a Japanese translation of his eatery review. His pen drops when Matthew’s tone changes. His ears become alert in case something is said that needs focused attention.

Matthew’s eyes lock onto Josh and his eyes latch onto those blue eyes. He rolls up and sits on the bed with his legs off the side of the bed upon mention of boyfriend. His face tilts and is befuddled as his ears now make out a different voice. Kiss? Check. Then… Did I just hear what I thought I heard? Josh’s face reddens. That sure is an inappropriate question. He immediately puts his earbuds in so he can listen to his music to drown out the questioning. Josh looks at the screen as he decides to watch music videos featuring Nova Dream, his favorite J-Pop boy band. It helps muffle his boyfriend’s conversation especially when he starts singing along but his singing is subdued. Some moments later, he looks up to see Matthew set the phone down. He closes his phone and takes out the earbuds.

“No need to apologize. Family is family. We all have our own tempos. I tried my best to not pay attention too much after the other voice came on the line especially when my ears started to make out certain things.” Make out? Poor choice of wording. Let’s move on. Josh explains, “I have good hearing and I had to give my ears something else to pay attention to.” He awkwardly says, “Sorry if I heard more than what I should have heard.”

Matthew sighed and sat up on his bed crossing his legs. "My sister. Susanna. She shouldn't have asked things like that. She likes to butt in and can be a bit much. She has this fake notion in her head that if I found a guy to date it would like all the books and comics she reads. Instant love and things like that. She doesn't really have the concept of building the actual relationship before all of that." he said as he looked at Josh, blushing as he talked about relationships and such. He grabbed his ankles and shrugged his shoulders. He was a bit nervous for some reason now, especially when Josh got just a snippet of how his family can be.

"Nothing for you to be sorry about. I...Josh I won't hide anything from you, you know." He said as he tilted his head ever so slightly. "Unless someone tells me not to say anything. But, If you're ever uncomfortable with whatever my family... mainly Sue says. Just tell me and I'll get her to tone it down. Because that's the last thing I want is you to feel uncomfortable." Matthew shifted in his spot. "I know we're just starting out so..." He didn't even know what he was trying to say. Maybe make up excuses for his family?

Josh smirk, “Instant love sounds unnatural. It’s like a deer coming up to you and laying down saying, ‘Dinner is served.’ Deer don’t talk by the way. I can talk when I’m full wolf as you witnessed, but I usually don’t because I think it appears hokey.” He tries to quell Matt’s nervousness so he adopts a Goliath the dog voice, “Do you think it’s hokey Mattie?” Picking up his regular voice back up, “Not that I’m in full wolf mode much. As I said, it can be cumbersome.”

Now back to seriousness. Josh looked at Matthew, “I know and thank you for giving me the heads up. I’ll try to remember to say something if I do get uncomfortable. Ditto for me. If I say or do anything that you’re uneasy about, let me know. If you want to see more or less of the other me, just ask. I think of it as just putting on different clothes or accessories, but your thoughts are not my thoughts."

Josh wanted to be open about not being human and show more of his other self, but he wanted to be respectful of Matt’s comfort level. Even though his parents were comfortable about him being a werewolf and would tell him that he doesn’t need to hide his other self from them, he appeared fully human almost all the time. If not, his face was human with slight wolfish embellishments: gold hued eyes, pointed ears, pronounced cuspids, heavy brow ridge with fur lining the sides of his lower jaw. Maybe what he called his wolf cap? It would be as if someone took a wolf’s head and swapped out the lupine face for Josh’s human one.

Matthew smiled a bit, "Well I can honestly say after the initial shock of it. I wasn't ever really bothered by it. Freaked out, yeah. But..." He gave a half laugh, "You know?" He was hoping that Josh understood what he was trying to say. Yes, he was freaked out when Josh suddenly turned into a wolf. He had never thought that the supernatural world truly existed. But now that door had opened and he was freaked out and curious. I have so many questions, but where do I start? Letting out a sighed breath, Matthew got up from his bed and moved over to sit next to Josh. "I do have some questions." He said as he looked at Josh and waited for an indication for him to start.

"So you turn full wolf." He was comfortable saying this a bit more freely when it was just the two of them in their dorm. "Are you able to turn bits and pieces? Or able to turn and still be able to stand on two legs? Kind of like how other's portray werewolves to be." This was a good start for him. He kind of figured that Josh's senses would be enhanced, his sense of smell, hearing, speed, strength. Bet he could lift me up if he wanted to... Matthew's face flushed a bit at his own thoughts. Sometimes he wished he could just get a control on some of this thoughts that would pop up.

"I think... I'd like to draw you sometime. If you're ok with it?"

Josh muttered, "I think I do. It's not something one expects. I'd be blown away too, and maybe even a little unsettled, if I found out werewolves existed. Yea, even if I am one."

The young man's eyes tracked Matt as he walked torwards him and sat next to him. "Questions. Sure. Go ahead and ask what's on your mind." Josh hear his boyfriend's first question and said, "Let me get changed first. First, the clothing and then the body." He went to his dresser and took out a pair of blue shorts that he had never worn around Matthew. "These are my special shorts" as he shows him the seat. There was a hole on the back and the seam had been resewn to make it look like this configuration was normal. I have a couple pairs of underwear to like this. Customized for my lupine comfort." He takes out a pair and makes a brief visit to the bathroom to put on the new bottoms.

Josh sits back down after letting his hair loose, "Bits and pieces? Yes, just watch." The ears don't take much because they are made of cartilage. They become pointed and furred in the back as if someone simply swapped out human ears for those of a wolf. "You can touch my ears if you want. Next is my tail." An appendage the size of a thumb appears which quickly grows fur. Very much like a plant, it grows out until it attains its normal size. Everything about him has remained human.

Josh stands up and turns around so Matthew can see him from all angles. "I do have an anthropomorphic form. Picture a video game or animated program. Human structure, but wolf themed. I can even modify my limbs in that form so that if I wanted to run on all fours, I can on digitigrade legs. Plus, I get to keep my human-structured hands. Quite useful when hunting. Just sit back and enjoy your catch as you hold it in your hands. I don't hunt too much since it's risky. I don't want hear a news broadcast reporting that there were sightings of a huge black wolf. I've not gone out as a wolf here and only sporadically through Shepherd Park which is just a few blocks away from my house and only in the early early hours of the morning when no one is around. If I'm out, it's in my back yard. It's why we have ten foot high wooden fencing all the way around."

Josh sits back down and he's feeling a bit down. There is a hint of it in his voice, "Just like sometimes I wonder what'd it be like if all the American signage around us was in Japanese, I wonder what it'd be like if the existence of werewolves was known. It is a thought that can be both exciting and disconcerting at the same time. Don't you think so?"

Draw me? "I've drawn a few things with wolf me and I've passed some of it as anthro art if anyone else besides my parents see. What do you have in mind? If you want to sketch me out like I am now with wolf ears and tail, here I am."

He had to take a few deep breaths to calm his wildly beating heart. He couldn't take his eyes off of his boyfriend as the other changed parts of his body into wolfen parts. His eyes shifted to the different parts of Joshes body as they changed. So he can change different parts. So different stages almost. He was trying to process everything as Josh changed, though once Josh sat back down Matthew stood up. He didn't jump or move away, he just wanted to look at Josh at a better angle. For him, that was standing in front of the half turned wolf? I don't even know the term for it. Though I guess Josh already said it. Anthropomorphic. The blonde's eyes scanned over Josh and while the wolf was talking, Matthew didn't really say a word. Internally he was still trying to digest that his newly appointed boyfriend was something other than just human.... or not human at all.

Matthew shifted his blue eyes from Josh's ears to his eyes. "I think... that if the world new werewolves existed. It could go two ways, or even both. On one hand, yes exciting but there are different levels of that. You'd have people who would start out.... like me for example. Freaked out, admittedly scared at first but then will slowly come around and get use to it." He didn't want to hurt Josh's feelings but he was also using this as an excuse to get his own turmoil feelings and thoughts out. He smiled a bit as he reached out with little to no hesitation to touch the wolfen ears on Josh's head. "It also kind of helped that I knew you before you showed me... and.." He tilted his head a bit. "..the fact that you're my boyfriend helped too." The soft smile was still present on his face. He moved his hand down to touch other parts that were wolfen as well, Josh's hands, kneeling down a bit to touch his legs. "Then you have people who would be on the other side of the excitement spectrum, which I think would be more dangerous. You have your scientists and mythological enthusiast that would want to study werewolves in the flesh. Even go as far as wanting to dissect. Then you have the government and military that would probably want to weaponize or just destroy all werewolves, taking away their freedom."

Matthew then sat back down on the bed and finally ended his touching with Josh's tail. The blonde smiled a bit more when he did touch it, petting it really. I think I'm going have an obsession with his tail. He had to force himself to stop touching after a solid minute of just petting the tail. Looking at Josh, yes, he wanted to draw and sketch his boyfriend. He also wanted to get off the sore subject as well. He hummed a bit as he got back up and went to his side of the dorm, grabbing one of his new sketch books and a pencil. He stood in front of Josh and opened the book. His pencil met the paper and he began his sketching. He moved around to get different angles before he placed the pad down with a new page opened. "You'll have to bare with me..." he said as he moved closer to Josh and places his hands on either side of his boyfriend's head to angle it how he wanted. "I've never sketched a live model before. We're actually doing that next week. So..." He then had a playful look on his face. ".. You're just going to be my personal practice model for only me to see." He then gave a quick kiss to Josh's cheek before he moved away and grabbed his pad once more and sketched.

It was hard for him to believe just how easy it was to openly flirt with Josh but at the same time still have a normal regular conversation. He never flirted with anyone even when someone was trying to flirt with him, but somehow, with Josh it was different. Maybe because he's so easy going. It was a little bit later that he was , "Done. You can relax." Setting his pad on his desk, Matthew moved back to his own bed and sat down before laying on it facing Josh. "Tomorrow. Think you can break away for a bit and have lunch together?"

Josh is all ears, literally and figuratively, as he hears Matthew’s thoughts about a scenario in which the existence of werewolves was made known to the wider world. He nodded, “I totally agree. Especially about those that would react in fear. I hate to keep bringing up my nightmare, but what I experienced fits the bill. The Bloodmoon Protocol, the Lupine Cadre.” His body quakes with fear. “It’s happened before. Look at me. At one time, this was the face of the enemy.”

Matthew’s head descends onto his lupine ears which twitch upon contact. Random noises from the hallway or outside come in and they swivel to catch the sounds. “Something to get used to about me if I have my ears out. They pick up stuff and react. They also move according to my emotions, just like other canids.” Then comes the tail touching and it sways in giddiness. “Soft huh? Now imagine what it’d be like cuddling a six foot two wolfman.” He blushes brightly, “Can’t believe I just said that.”

Josh’s eyes track Matthew as he gets his stuff and sits still as his noggin is adjusted. Then there is the quick peck and he smiles radiantly. He sits as still and is as cooperative as he can be. I don't want to ruin the sketch work. His boyfriend roommate proposes having lunch together. “Sure. I’d like that very much. You can see more one last time before I get sheared.” He yawns widely. “I wanted to get started on that Burger Dome review, but I think it’s time to hit the sack. Been a long day. Am I right?”

He gets a pair of gym shorts and a tank as well as the briefs he wore for most of the day, no hole in the back. He pays a visit to the bathroom to wash up and get ready for bed. He returns, all human, and gestures at the tank he’s wearing which hugs his torso gently. It is the one he told Matthew about earlier in the day. Up until now, he hadn’t worn it except for a couple times since he bought it because he didn’t want to wear it out and certainly not around his boyfriend. It is a circular logo depicting a curled left arm with bulbous bicep. Japanese script with the number 29 is displayed in front of the arm. No need to ask what the script means because the words Macho Twenty-Nine are written around the circle. Beneath the logo is the wording beLegend. On the back, that same wording.

Josh climbs into bed and places his arms around his head, “Just so you know, I got a couple pairs of the matching shorts, but I kept those at home as well as the three other tanks like this. Oh! I think I mentioned that I was going to tell you about what happened. It was out first official day in Tokyo and we went to go for a walk and headed to Shinjuku. Took us nearly about forty minutes to get there. We just bummed around the area and we started to get hungry. Dad spotted an energetic cluster of people and we decided to go there. We entered and found why guests were so giddy. Only male servers who were eye-catchingly wonderful. Food was pretty good as was the imagery. The servers noticed my fit self and recognized me as a kindred spirit. It was all in good humor when they asked me to flex and show off my abs. They told me that they have their tanks and shorty shorts for sale and other memorabilia as well. Mom gave me a look when she saw that I was interested in purchasing. First, it's my money from months of delivering countless pizzas. Second, it's a complete outfit. I'm used to wearing revealing clothes like those guys. Sometime, I will show you the selfies I took when I put on the Macho 29 outfit for the first time when I got back home. Nice bedtime story. I like swapping bedtime stories with you."

Josh sets his phone and watch on the desk next to him, “Good night, Matt. Love you bunch.” He nestles himself in his sheets and rests his head against the pillow. Eventually, the room is dark and the activity of the moment is sleep.

Josh’s nose twitches and twitches some more. The scent coils inside his brain which tells him what it is. He leaps out of bed and sniffs the air. Smoke. Where is it coming from? Not here. Must be one of the common rooms. He hastily puts the tank and shorts he unknowingly discarded in his sleep back on. His gold hued eyes help him see in the darkness. He goes over to Matt and rustles him awake not sure how asleep he is. Serious eyes and serious voice, “Come on Matt. We gotta get out of here. I smell smoke.” There might have been the question if he really was smelling smoke because it was too subtle for a human sense of smell to gauge.

Whee, whee, whee! There is no doubt now as the caterwaul of alarms resonates through the dorm. Human-eyed Josh laces his sneakers and pleads with Matthew that they need to get out pronto and join with the rest of the evacuating residents.

Matthew smiled and laughed softly at the cuddling comment but didn't say anything to it, not out loud at least. I can only imagine.... cuddling up to a big...strong... cuddly wolfman...which I can easily make a reality if he lets me. But... could also lead to other things. His hands on my body.. licking my neck. His-- Matthew had to quickly stamp down anymore thoughts that tried to force their way out into his head. He instead focused on his sketching.

----

Matthew smiled at Josh when then other agreed to meet him for lunch. "I just hope I recognize you after you cut it off." He said before the other went about getting ready for bed. When it was his turn to do that same, he got up and grabbed a pair of shorts himself before going to the bathroom. However, he pause just as his hand was placed on the door knob to the bathroom.

Love you bunch

That's what Josh said and this small comment made his whole face go red, the comment threw him off guard. He looked over at Josh who was already laying down on his bed and eyes closed. It's just said in passing... no meaning behind it. We just started dating. Matthew wasn't one that just threw out those words to just anyone and with no meaning. Call him traditional or old fashioned or maybe cautious, most likely the last one. He wouldn't say those words to anyone unless he meant it, the last time he did. Well. It ended with him with a psychotic boyfriend who tried to kill him. Unconsciously he rubbed at his chest as he felt the phantom itch and slightly pain from his scar. "Goodnight." He said to the other before going into the bathroom and got ready for bed. He brushed his teeth and washed his face before taking his clothes off leaving his boxers and slipped on his shorts. He didn't bother with a shirt knowing that he'd just take it off sometime in the middle of the night. Coming back out of the bathroom he saw that Josh was already asleep, the blonde let out a laughed sigh as he smiled and shook his head slightly.

Climbing into his bed and shimming under the covers, Matthew closed his eyes and slowly drifted to sleep. Maybe it was because he had thoughts of Jason almost all day comparing him to Josh and how Josh was so much better than his ex, that he ended up having a nightmare. He didn't know, but it was not enjoyable.

"Mattew....my beautiful Matthew..." Came the voice from the shadows. Matthew was suddenly strapped to a chair in the middle of a room, a single light illuminating only him and the chair making it hard for him to see anything beyond the edge of the light. "Who's there?!" Panic in his voice could be heard as well as a low deep laugh. "Ooohh Matthew... I'm so sad you don't remember me. I gave you so much pleasure..." There was a flash of something in the shadows almost like the light reflected off of a shiny metal. "I... I don't know who you are but I have a boyfriend and if he finds me gone---" He was interrupted by a laugh. "Oh.. a boyfriend you say? You mean this guy?" Suddenly another single light was turned on and Matthew's eyes widened at the sight. "J-joshua?" Josh was beaten to a bloody pulp and had cuts all over his body and unconscious. Then suddenly his vision was blocked by an all to familiar body, his blue eye slowly followed up the body, his shivered in dread as Jason lifted his hand with the knife. "This is going to be fun." The other then quickly moved as if to plunge the knife into him--

Matthew gasped and jumped as he was touched and quickly moved away from who ever it was. He was breathing hard, almost panicked though he quick saw that it was just Josh. "Josh? What the.." He stopped as he closed his mouth and forced himself to breath slower through his nose. His heart was still pounding but that was slowly coming back down to normal heart rate. "Smoke?" He questioned when Josh said he smelled it, "I don't smell any--" Suddenly the alarms when off. Matthew tilted his head back a bit as if listening to it, then looked to the door when he began to hear people shuffling down the hall. "Uh...y-yeah. Just let me.." He was still half asleep as he sat up and rubbed his face to wake himself up more. He was also still shaken about his dream. Getting up he pulled on a simple t-shirt before just slipping into his shoes. He then grabbed his phone, and stuffed it into his pocket before he went with Josh out the door.

He stuck close to Josh, at one point he had fell a bit behind his boyfriend roommate and had to lightly grab the bottom of Josh's shirt so he would lose him in the crowd. Once they were outside to the safe place they were suppose to go, Matthew looked around. He stopped a random person, "Hey you know what's going on?" The guy shook his head. "I don't know man, one minute I was sleeping the next the alarms are going off. Sorry." The guy them walked off to his little group of friends. Matthew sighed and ran hand through his hair. I hope it's just a prank. The blonde closed his eyes for a moment only to open them quickly, the dream still fresh in his mind. He shivered, He's still in jail. There is no getting out for him. And if he even did get out.... he wouldn't know where I am. Matthew took a slow deep breath, he had to stop these thoughts or he would go into a panic attack. Looking over to Josh, it helped seeing that there was no scratches or cuts on him. Just a dream. Nothing else. "You think they'll tell us what's going on? If there's a fire or something?"

The hallways of Selby Hall had become a recreation of Grand Central Station as half-asleep students left their rooms and made their way towards the assigned exits. He was concerned that he might lose Matthew in the bustle. Thankfully, he had decided to hold onto his tank. Plus, his nose told him that his boyfriend roommate was next to him.

They made their way outside and the noticeably cool air of the nigh caressed his skin. Josh knew that the weather here in Sutter would be cooler than back in Houston. Plus, snow. He had never seen snow except for what his dad coined dandruff. Even then, he had only seen it just a few times in his life. Maybe Matthew is more familiar with snow? Maybe I’ll ask once we clear this hurdle.

Students occupy the street facing the dorm and the overage climbs onto the steps of the nearby university houses and take up position on their porches. Josh takes out his phone and sends out a text to his parents [Sorry for sending this text at this hour. There’s some type of situation here at the dorm. Smoke detectors went off and we are all out here wondering what’s happening. Matthew’s here with me. We are safe. Lots of love, R.]

Some nearby folks blame the situations on smokers. Josh thinks cigarettes are unhealthy but is perturbed by the wanton rumor. He whispers to Matthew, “That’s not cigarette smoke, I can tell that much.”

Here comes their Residential Advisor Patsy DeMarco, the red-haired young woman who had posted the flyer earlier regarding the hair charity. She has a clipboard just like her fellow RAs. She starts to call out the names of those in her section so that the staff can get a tally of who is here. The calling is done alphabetically. Eventually, “Nakayama, Joshua R.” Josh looked up alertly and said, “Here Coach.” Guffaws follow. Man, I must be more zonked than I thought. It’s just that when I hear my name said in that order, it’s for Mr. Vaughn called the guys to order. He might have given his detractors the finger or blown a raspberry. Sometimes he would do that if someone pushed certain buttons. Here, he just shrugged his shoulders with a goofball grin, “Whoops.”

Here comes Director Zebulon Wicker in a huff from the parking lot and he is accompanied by University Police to help with the crowd as a fire truck from the local station comes by. Students in the streets shuffle to make way and the porches start to become too crowded for comfort.

As the Advisors oversee the residents, Mr. Wicker is consulting with security and the firefighters. Time slows to a crawl. There are no signs of flames, no billowing of smoke above the dormitory. Hopeful sign? There isn’t much to do except to spectate. Twenty minutes passed, then ten more, and so on. Students are getting antsy as they rub their hands and arms to try to get warm. Nearly a full hour later, Mr. Wicker calls for attention. Through a megaphone, he tells the residents that they are to follow the Advisors to the Kahill Center across the street. It will be opened up by Security. It is unknown how long this will take and they cannot continue to have chilly residents stand in the streets.

Josh reaches out for Matthew’s hand as the residents follow the Advisors into the open building. Lights are turned on and they are told to remain on the first floor. Some students start to play pool and others play basketball. Most just sit around and chat among themselves. Thirty minutes later, the Advisors inform the residents that the building has been given the all clear. Everyone may return to their rooms.

As soon as Josh returns to the room, he sets the phone back onto the desk and takes his tank and shorts back off and collapses onto the bed stomach first, “Oh boy. What a day and night.” He looks up briefly, “Night night again Matthew.”

The next day, the students would learn what the alarm was about as they see the security tape plastered on both doors that lead into the main kitchen off to the side of the main rec room. It will take several weeks to effect repairs. A foolish resident was making something to eat and left the kitchen to wait on one of the couches in the rec room. That was bad, but falling asleep was worse.

Standing out in the grass hearing others blaming the smokers, Matthew turned his head slightly towards Josh when he spoke. He then turned his attention to the advisors when they began to speak and call out names. Matthew was one of the last names to be called out since they were calling out by last name. "Wolf, Matthew S."

"Here." He said before scooting a bit closer to Joshua for warmth as another shiver ran through his spine. This time it was due to the cooler air rather than his dream. Once all the names where called out they moved into the Kahill Center. Staying close to Josh, he took the offered hand so he wouldn't get separated from his boyfriend. He stayed with Joshua until it was time to go back to the dormitory when it was given the all clear. Reaching their dorm, Matthew watched Josh flop back onto his bed and smiled a bit. "Night." He said before climbing back onto his bed and turning onto his side, his back facing his boyfriend. He would have a hard time falling back to sleep and didn't want to bother or disturb Josh.

The next morning, Matthew groaned as he rolled over on to his back, he slowly opened his eyes and sighed. He looked over to his alarm clock, thinking he had set it. He gasped at the time, "Shit!" He jumped up and quickly got dressed in jeans and a t-shirt. He then grabbed a light jacket, quickly brushed his teeth before grabbing his bag and rushing out of the dorm. I can't believe I over slept! I was suppose to go early into class. Matthew was so much in a rush that he forgot his phone and wallet. It wasn't until he was about half way to his class that he reached into his pocket to check the time only to stop and pat himself. "Oh man... Did I really..?" Matthew mentally scowled himself and looked back in the direction of the dormitory. "I don't have time to go back and get it..." Sighing, Matthew ran a hand through his hair and just continued forward to his class. He just hoped he wasn't too late.

Luckily he wasn't too late, only a few minutes late to his class, but he had still wanted to get there early get an early start to his work. Even with being a few minutes late, all the good seats were taken, so matthew was forced to take a seat towards the back of the classroom. He pulled out his textbook and notebook before doing the assignment on the board.

Josh had sat by Matthew and held his boyfriend against him. Some of those jocks from that first day snickered at them and he did his best to ignore them. What he did was draw his roommate closer to him, snuggle him. It helped assuage the uneasiness he felt by the predicament.

As soon as his head hit the pillow, Josh's mind shut down. His was a deep sleep. Between the preceding restless nights, the Bloodmoon nightmare, the revelation of his true nature, and this evacuation, his brain would have overloaded had it not been for the wolf's fortitude. Plus, Matthew's company.

He remained in the same position throughout the truncated night, nearly unclothed and laying on his stomach with no sheets covering him, until Stepphenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride started playing on his phone at the same time his watch stated to beep. Josh raised his head and sees the alarmed Matthew rush out the room before he could even get out of bed. He hobbled to his dresser to get out fresh underwear and socks and dove into the shower. He made himself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and crammed it into his mouth before washing it out with a cup of milk.

Josh checked the weather and saw that it was going to be a cool day. He normally doesn't wear jeans, but today feels like a jeans wearing day. In the month since the semester started, he had only worn his denim shorts twice and jeans just once. Growing up, he wore uniforms in school and cargo pants or shorts the rest of the time. He pulls up his relaxed fit jeans and over it, he dons a frost grey Henley style tee which has short sleeves. On a day with such weather, he would be wearing his letterman jacket. However, it remained at home and was in a vacuum-sealed bag for preservation. The jacket's torso is grape jelly purple and its sleeves are black with purple wrists and white stripes. A patch of the letter I is over the heart, on the back is a patch of the name of Nakayama with a ribbon underneath which has the name of J Ryota etched inside. More patches: graduation year patch, a football patch with the number 29, two patches for division championships during his first two years and state championship patches for Junior and Senior year, a patch for his four years of perfect attendance. He might have had one for academic achievement if it wasn't for the curse of math. In his bedroom, were two other preserved mementos of his high school years. A replica of his jersey with his name on the back was in a frame on the wall. Nearby was a reproduction of his helmet which rested in a display case. St. Isidore High School had a very robust booster club and made these hallmarks possible and were bequeathed to any young man who played football for all four years. The other sports offered similar parting gifts. To ward off the cold, he settles for a hoodie jacket with the same black and purple coloring.

Josh collects his belongings and heads out the door, locking it shut behind him. He make a beeline to Connor Hall which houses all the mathematics classes. For once, it wasn't too bad. However, that was attributed to the fact that the attention of most of the class lacked focus. Good sleep brings focus. The sleep resulting from an evacuation and the hour and a half staying awake for word yielded poor performance for many. Josh's mind was one of the more sharper minds that morning.

Josh's next class passes by the same way and soon it is time for lunch. After dropping off his stuff, he heads to the Pollard Community Center where the cafeteria is. Here he leans against the wall across from the cafeteria and waits for Matthew.

Luckily his last class before lunch ended early enough for him to go back to the dorm to get his phone and wallet before meeting Josh at the cafeteria. However as he approached the door to their dorm, Matthew fished around for his keys knowing that Josh locks the door. "Oh come on.. don't tell me I left those too..." He even took his bag off and searched inside it as well. Matthew sighed and groaned, "It's just not my day today." The blonde ran a hand through is hair in frustration and tugged his bag back over his shoulder. "Looks like I'll have to go without today until dinner." He had rushed out of the dorm so quickly that he didn't even grab anything to eat for the morning.

Taking a deep breath and then letting it out, Matthew began the journey to the Pollard Community Center. The blonde groaned softly as he rubbed his face, he was hungry and he was tired. All because someone fell asleep while they were cooking. It also didn't help that I had a nightmare. That sure as hell didn't help with my sleep. It definitely showed in classes today, though I'm sure it didn't show that much since it seem almost everyone was a bit sluggish. Luckily it was mostly his art classes in the morning so they didn't require a whole lot of attention. That and it seemed like most of his teachers took pity on the class and were pretty laxed.

He was just glad that the fire didn't get too out of control and engulf the whole building. The fire was mainly just too the oven/stove, but it was enough to close off the kitchen until repairs were made.

As he approached the community center, Matthew smiled a bit as he entered the building. Spotting Josh leaning against the wall across across from the cafeteria. "Hey." He said as he got closer to his boyfriend. He was trying not to show his tiredness and disappointment in himself in front of Josh. "Hey, I know we're suppose to have lunch together but..." Matthew chuckled softly. "Funny thing. In my rush of getting to class this morning I forgot to grab my wallet." And phone and keys. "So I'll just sit with you. I need to work on an assignment anyway." He didn't want Josh to pay for him, the blonde was just happy to be spending time with his boyfriend, even if he was a bit hungry. But that feeling would pass once he concentrated on other things. Of course he could just hear his mother in the back on his mind.

"You better be eating or you're going to waste away. You're skinny enough as it is." His mother would say, of course this is what he heard all the time when he was with Jason. Jason liked him a certain size and weight and only wanted him to eat certain things. Matthew mentally shook his head, he took a hold of Josh's hand and lead him into the cafeteria. "You just go order yourself something, and I'll find us a table." With that, Matthew separated himself from Josh and went to go find an empty table. After finding one, the blonde sat down and set his bag on the floor next to his feet and pulled out his history text book. He had to read a few chapters and answer a few questions at the end. Can't believe I forgot those things...

Josh’s back left the wall and waved at Matthew, “Good Morning or maybe I should say Good Before Noon since I didn’t have a chance to say good morning before you zoomed out of our room as fast as lightning. Forget to turn on the alarm? That’s understandable in all the craziness we’ve had. Fawlty sleep could have also done its part.” He looks carefully into Matthew's eyes and his own get wide as saucers and whispers, "Wallet?"

Cogs of thought turned into his head, "Right. I'll go get something and after eating, I'll bolt back to the room to get your wallet and check to see if you've left anything else behind. It's no problem. I had to have quick feet on the field. I can race back to the room and onto my next class before it starts. We can then meet up before the class after that begins so I can hand over your stuff."

Josh enters the cafeteria knowing that timing was even more critical. He goes to the sandwich/burger station and asks for a turkey club sandwich. He picks up a bag of baked potato chips and a bottle of lemonade tea.

He sits next to Matthew who is reading his history text, "This club sandwich's been cut into four pieces. I can give you one of them. I'm not sure of you got anything to eat this morning and to not anything until dinnertime is not good. Please?" Josh's soft eyes look at his boyfriend.

Matthew rested his elbow on the table and his cheek on his palm, he turned the page in his test book as Josh sat down next to him. The blonde glanced at his boyfriend before turning back to his book. His stomach growled but he knew he would be fine, "I--" He looked at Josh as he let his hand drop onto the table. At first he thought the other was just saying the he would give him some of his food if he asked, but then that 'please?' at the end. Is he asking me? He looked at the soft eyes of his boyfriend and smiled a bit. Leaning over a bit he kissed Josh's cheek, "You eat. I'll be fine. A couple missed meals isn't going to kill me." He's sweet.

Matthew then went back to looking at his textbook, "And don't worry about going back to the dorm unless you need something. I only have two more classes then I'm done for the day." he said as he turned the page. Yeah, he was hungry but he wasn't going to take Josh's food. Besides, he had gone some days with only eating one meal, most of the time it was lunch because he didn't have time or didn't even think about eating breakfast and then being up late at night studying. Obviously this would be before he had started dating Josh and even in his high school days he would go without a meal or two. There would also sometimes be days where he just wasn't hungry and didn't eat for the whole day.

"I'll be ok until dinner time." he said before he looked at Josh once more with his blue eyes. He wasn't quite use to someone looking after him, since he hadn't really had anyone doing so that wasn't family for years now. Even his few friends from high school didn't questions or show their worry for him when he didn't eat or did something that should have worried them. Like disappeared for hours and hide in the boy's bathroom away from the homophobic jocks. Of course this was only after the Jason incident and his stay in the hospital. I really need to stop thinking about him.

The kiss sent a tender feeling through Josh's body, but he still felt bad. A quiet, "Okay then." He proceeds to eat the sandwich pieces but he does open the chip bag fully and places it between them in case he wanted some.

One quarter sandwich gone and some chips later, "Then I'll just go on to my classes. I also have two more for the day and then it's off to get my haircut before dinner. The charity will be there until 7pm, but I don't want to wait until then. Doesn't make sense to wait. Have homework and I would like to get to sleep early. Going to bed earlier would help the both of us.

Josh's phone buzzes and he takes it out, "Here's Mom's reply and opinion at long last. I wondered when she would respond. To make a long story short, she's relieved that we are safe and there was no severe damage to the dorm." His fingertips tap on the screen, "Finishing lunch here with Matt. Lots of love and hugs."

Josh takes his empty tray and places it on the conveyor belt. He gives it a gently nudge and the tray rolls along the cylinders and entered the window which leads to the kitchen. Josh places his arms around Matt's shoulder, "Time for round two." He lowers his face and kisses Matt's cheek, "Don't stay too long or you might miss your class. See you back in our room before we head back here for dinner." He departs the cafeteria and exits through the double doors nearby.

The afternoon's classes are just as muted. Josh tries his best to appear focused on the lessons but his mind is on Matthew. He is afraid that the professors will see through the fake interest and call him out on it, but they don't. Thankfully, the professors were patient and his Latin professor even showed an educational program instead of carrying out the planned lesson.

He picks up his backpack and heads to the Kahill Center and up the stairs to head the room where the charity. He gets in line and waits his turn. Shuffle forward, shuffle forward. The organizers look at him, "Our first and so far only man. Not sure if your hair is long enough though. Let's see it." His heart races as doubt enters him, but he undoes his band and his hair goes down. They tug at his hair and they get a measuring tape. He finds a bit of humor in this as he was accustomed to measurements, but not his hair before. "Just enough." They record his name and hand him a plastic bag with a blank label that they write his name on. He takes it to one of the chairs and he tilts his head back as his assigned barber snips away carefully. The donation is extracted and then takes the clippers to finish the process. Josh is left nearly bald for his hair has become very short and bristly. It will take weeks of growth before he could do anything with, but it was well worth it.

The donation is placed in the baggie with care and he is thanked for his time. Josh picks up his backpack and heads back to the dorm room feeling good that he has helped a child in need.

He went back to his reading as Josh ate his lunch only to glance over at the other when he talked. "We can meet up back at the dorms then." he said as he turned his head to look at the other. He could tell Josh felt bad with him not eating, he was touched by Josh's display of 'casually' placing the bag of chips between them. Honestly it made him smile a bit, He's so thoughtful. "I kind of can't wait to see you with short hair, be an adjustment though." He said as he reached out and moved a bit of hair that fell from Josh's face.

By the time Josh was done eating, Matthew had turned back to his text book when it was mentioned that his boyfriend's mom texted him back. Matthew chuckled softly, "Tell her I said hi." He said as he turned the page. Glancing over he watched Josh get up and take his tray to deposit it, looking back to his text book Matthew suddenly then felt an arm around him. He lifted his head to look at Josh as his boyfriend kissed his cheek, he felt his face heat up at the sign of affection. "See ya.." he said as he watched Josh leave the cafeteria. The blonde smiled and chuckled softly before going back to his text book. He was getting a bit ahead of his homework assignments before he marked where he stopped and closed the book. Standing up, Matthew stretched as he let out a huge sigh, gathering his bag and holding his book the blonde left the cafeteria to go to this next class.

The next few hours flew by, Matthew didn't pay attention what so ever in his classes, he just kept doodling random things. By the end of his last class, Matthew finally paid attention to what he was doing and felt his face heat up as he quickly closed his notebook. "Oh god... I must be really tired." He muttered to himself as he got up and exited the class. In his notebook he had drew Josh, of course no one would be able to tell if it was or wasn't him, as a werewolf. Full on muscles, just from memory, wearing nothing but low pants that were left opened. A human torso with a full on wolf head, his tail off to the side as he stood up on two legs. His arms human like but with claws and whole body covered in fur. But this isn't what made his face heat up, well maybe a little, but the main thing was the second part of his drawing. He drew a faceless male nude body--mainly because he didn't have time to finish the face-- wrapped up in the arms of Josh, one clawed arm over the human chest grasping the shoulder while the other arm was over the male's stomach hand pointed down to a certain part of the male anatomy as if reaching for it. The human male had both hands on Josh's arm over the chest. Josh was holding the male promiscuously to his body as his wolf head was bent licking the human's neck. It was a rough sketch and could clear be seen that Josh, the wolfman was drawn first before the human male was added in and no time to make any details or erase things that shouldn't be there.

God help me.. Matthew mentally shook his head as he walked to the dorms. Josh should be at the donation charity by now. This meant that he would have to wait until Josh got into the dorms before either of them could go into their room. However, before he could even reach the dorm building he was stopped. "Hey! Matt!"

Matthew stopped and turned towards the voice and waved as he smiled. "Hey, Dom, what's up?" He greeted his friend Dominic waiting for the other to catch up to him. Dominic was a Hispanic looking fellow, caramel skin, nice figure, dark hair, handsome face. Matthew had made friends with him on a whim, or rather Dom had approached him in the library one day and they just hit it off as goof friends. Had a few things in common as well being very family oriented but also living in the country and working with some farm animals.

"Hey. I wanted to ask you something." Dominic asked, he looked nervous for some reason and Matthew couldn't place it or figure out why. He was sure the other would tell him sooner or later.

"Yeah?"

"I... I wanted..." Dominic took a breath before letting it out. "S-so there's this party this weekend and I was wondering if you'd like to go? It's at one of the fraternity houses, Phi Alpha Theta." Phi Alpha Theta was one of the fraternities that was famous for their parties and most of the time it was a big deal in just saying you were invited or that you went to one of their parties.

"Uh... well." Matthew was a bit taken back he had never been asked to go to any party what so ever. "Yeah sure, I can see if Josh--" Dominic interrupted him and Matthew looked confused.

"No. That's not what I meant. What I meant was.." Dominic stepped closer to Matt and bravely took his hand. Matthew looked down at the hand grasping his before looking back up at the other male. "If you'd go to the party with me?" It was then that Matthew understood what was happening and pulled his hand away.

"Dom..." Matthew sighed, this was new to him people showing interest in him. He was suppose to be the unpopular one, the geek, the socially awkward, even though he really wasn't and just kept to himself. "I'll go to the party with you, but, I can only go as your friend. I have a boyfriend." Ok that felt weird saying that. But a good weird.

"A boyfriend? Who? I never see you with anyone."

Matthew smiled and shrugged his shoulders, "I'm around him all the time. We eat almost every meal together if we can unless we're invited to eat with friends or whatnot. But, it's Joshua."

Dominic had a shocked look, "Joshua? Josh?! Your roommate?! What the hell man?! I thought he was straight, and he's a football jock."

Matthew frowned and shifted his weight from one foot to the other. "So... and obviously he's not. And... this isn't high school. People grow up. He's not your typical high school jock. There's nothing wrong with Josh. He's nice, sweet, smart, funny, caring, anything anyone could want in a guy. And he's my boyfriend."

Josh passed a variety of residents on the way from the entrance and through the halls on the way to his room. Several greeted him and he waved his hands in greeting. Josh and his man bun had been a steadfast presence during the past month. Many passers-by were slack-jawed. A few of those who had seen him with unfurled hair were crestfallen. Get used to it. It'll take months and months to grow back. That is, if I want to restore the bun.

Josh approached Room 321 and inserted the key. The door opens and nothing. No Matthew? Slight delay I suppose. He drops his backpack and looks over at his boyfriend's side of the room. There was Matt's wallet but also keys and phone. I can't believe he forgot all that. He took out the hairband in his pocket and reunited it with its kin. The reunion was short-lived as he got a baggie and scooped them all inside. He then tossed the baggie into luggage. What to do while I wait? I suppose I could start on my homework? He takes out his own history text and starts to read when a thought enters. It is about something that he though he had done, but now knows he hadn't. I haven't even told Brett yet. That will be corrected now.

"Hello caller. You are live on the McPherson Show. Hey bro." Josh smiles as it seems it has been weeks since he heard his buddy's voice, but it only has been just one, "Hey to you too. Checking in to see how you are doing? Saw your big win against Baylor." Brett replies, "Thanks dude, but if you watched more carefully, you would have seen that we could have done better because our Running Back was lousy today. He's no Jaws. You wouldn't have performed so badly. So, what's up?"

Josh said, "Wanted to let you know, that I got me a boyfriend." Brett sounds jubilant, "Awesome. I knew that you and Matthew'd get together." Josh replied, "Uh? I didn't even say his name, but it is him. How did you know? Tarot cards?" Brett laughed loudly, "My cards? Nope. Left them at home. Then again, I don't need them to know you're gaga for him. I've known you for years. We've lived two doors down from each other since forever and went to the same schools until end of high school. Every time you talk about him, I can hear the joy in your voice. So, how long have you two been together?" Josh said, "Not long. Since Saturday." Brett said, "Neato."

They continue to talk of other things like studies and Chet McPherson's mayoral run, "You know Ryota, I considered staying in H-Town when he told me that he was considering running so I could help out, but he told me to not let his aspirations stop mine. We got a few debates lined up towards the end of this month and the beginning of October." More talk between the two. There is only so much that texts can do.

Matthew waved Dominic off and rushed to the dorms after his friend told him the time. "Damn. I hope he hasn't been waiting long." he muttered to himself. Once he got to the building, Matthew rushed up the stairs before landing on his floor. He waved and greet a few people here and there. "Oh, hey did you see Josh come by recently?" he asked a passerby.

"Uh? Yeah.. should be in his dorm..."

Matthew smiled, "Thanks!" He said before walking to his and Josh's dorm. "Hm?" The blonde blinked as he heard talking on the other side of the door. Placing his hand on the door knob, he twist and opened the door only to pause as he saw Josh. I wasn't expecting it that short... Matthew had to suppress the laugh that tried to bubble up. It wouldn't be goo to laugh at your boyfriend when he did something selfless. Instead he bit his lip to keep any noise of escaping as he closed the door behind him. He walked over to his desk and placed his bag down, followed by placing his notebook on his desk.

Not wanting to disturb Josh's conversation, Matthew simply walked over to his boyfriend and without much thought kissed his cheek before walking over to their minifridge and grabbed a bottled water. He twisted the cap off and took a drink before replacing the cap and walked back over to his boyfriend and sat down next to him. He waited patiently for Josh to finish his conversation while he looked Josh over. Mainly at his head and lack of hair.

He usually wasn't one that disturbed people and their conversations but he couldn't resist. He reached a hand up and touched Josh's head, he now couldn't suppress the smile and light chuckle that bubbled up. "I didn't think it'd be this short."

Josh's ears perked up when he heard the door open and then his face scrunched up in confusion when he saw Matthew make some type of face. He gets all fuzzy inside, and just inside, when Matthew kisses him on the cheek as he continues to chat with Brett who then asks, "Did I just hear Matthew?" Josh reached for Matthew's hand and kissed the back, "You bet." His former teammate asks, "What did he mean by short?" Josh replied, "I got my haircut, but this is just between the three of us. I want to surprise my parents when the come into town next month on Saturday, the 10th, when the come to take me and Matthew to eat since my birthday's on Tuesday this year." Brett chuckles, "Righto. I like surprising people. You gotta show me the new do though."

He switches to his camera and positions his face next to Matthew's. Josh's eyes sparkle in happiness. Off the picture goes. Brett responds, "Wow. That is short. Why the change?" Josh explains that it was for charity which prompts Brett to say, "Feels good to help others, am I right? Well Jaws, I'll let you two lovebirds go. Bye Ryota! Bye Matthew." Josh bids farewell to his buddy. He sets the phone back on the desk and looks up into those blue eyes, "Hello again. Ready to head down stairs for dinner or want to hang out in here for a few minutes?"

Matthew smiled at the kiss to his hand and took advantage by locking their fingers together. As Josh continue his conversation, Matthew look at His boyfriend’s hair or lack there of. Definitely going to get some getting use to. But by the time his parents come next month it should be grown out enough for him to style it a bit at least. And hopefully be long enough for me to run my fingers through.

He wasn’t sure what Josh was doing until he saw both his and his boyfriend’s face on the phone screen. He’s taking a picture. Matthew smiled a bit but then quickly turned his head and kissed Josh’s cheek as the picture was snapped. The blonde pulled away as the phone was put back against Josh’s ear. Matthew let Josh continue his conversation and end it as he took another drink from his water bottle. Once the other was done and placing his phone on the desk, Matthew looked at the other and smiled, "Hello again." he said repeating the other's words. He found it cute that Josh greeted him pretty much every time they saw each other. He stood up and place his half full water bottom on his own desk in exchange for his wallet, phone and keys. "As much as I'd love to hang out in here with you for a bit." he said as he turned to Josh and moved closer to him after placing each item in their respective pocket. "I'm starving. So why don't we go down for dinner and then we can just come back here for the night." He said before he gave Josh a soft kiss to the lips. Geez this is a lot of kissing. Is it too much? He'd tell me if it was, wouldn't he? Why am I worrying about this? We're boyfriends... boyfriend's kiss. Matthew had a feeling he was probably worrying over nothing.

Josh leapt out of bed cheerfully, "Let's go then!" He secured his wallet, phone and keys in his pockets. He placed his arm around Matthew's shoulder to usher him out the door.

On the way to the cafeteria, "What are you surprised more by? It is how super short my hair is now or that I'm wearing jeans today?" There was a reason why Josh preferred relaxed fit jeans. It helped minimize the naughty looks that drifted his way. Sorry people, I can't really help that I got myself a bubble butt. Part nature, part cultivation.

The sky was orange and partly cloudy, a whispering breeze around the pedestrians. They entered the cafeteria and Josh told Matthew, "You go ahead of me." While his boyfriend collects his meal, Josh's nose does the talking and tells him what is appetizing. The young man is discreet about it. No sticking my nose against the glass and sniffing like I'm out in the woods. He chooses the platter station where there is a choice of two entrees and four sides, "Breaded chicken cutlets, the stewed okra, and the macaroni and cheese." These items are placed on the plate along with a small wheat roll. He then heads to the drink area and gets a plastic up and after fulling it with some ice, presses a leaver for lemonade.

Joining back with Matthew, "Our usual spot in the sunroom?"

Matthew smiled and wrapped his arm around Josh's lower back, his hand lazily resting on Josh's opposite hip. "Ah.. well." Matthew thought for a while and then looked sheepish, "Your hair mostly... uh.. only because I hadn't really noticed you wearing jeans. But.." He smiled as he tilted his head enough just to get a glance at Josh's ass and then looked back at his face. "I definitely like it... a lot." He said with a soft chuckle.

Matthew quite enjoyed the walk with his boyfriend. Once they reached the cafeteria, they went their separate ways getting their own food. Matthew looked around and decided on meatloaf, caesar salad and macaroni salad. For the drink, he grabbed a cup and filled it with ice before filling it with iced tea. It was then that Josh joined back up with him. The blonde smiled and nodded his head a bit, "Sure." Walking to their usual spot, Matthew sat down and began to eat. "How were your classes?" he asked before to took a bite of his caeser salad. "I wasn't really able to concentrate much. But I think all the teachers knew that. Almost everyone couldn't focus much because of last night."

Not to mention the nightmare I had. The nightmare he had still disturbed him, he knew it was impossible to happen. There was no way Jason would get out of jail and even if he did there was no way to track him down. To cover up his toxic thoughts, Matthew continued to eat his food. Also to cover up his disconcerting thoughts, Matthew laughed a bit, "They even laxed on the homework assignments. Can you believe that?"

Josh places his tray on the table as they look out upon the lawn outside the window. "Classes went well enough. Relaxed. Professor Baxter showed us a tour guide video about Rome instead of the usual Latin lessons. I got the feeling that he didn't mind if students paid attention or not. Just as long as the class was quiet. I was one of the few who actually watched. No popcorn though. Then again, I don't really care for popcorn. I'll eat it if you give it to me, but I'm not going to be jump and down for it. My attention was one of the few that was sharp. I score A++ on Endurance because of what I am, but even I have my limits. I'm going to need a good night's sleep tonight and over the next several days."

Josh likes the meal he's having, "This chicken's pretty awesome. It's breaded with panko and the meat's juicy. The meatloaf you're having seems good also." He taps on his nose. "I've made meatloaf a few times before. I always make mine with Italian sausage. Helps keep it moist. Sometimes I use a ketchup glaze on the top and other times with barbecue sauce. Plus panko. Don't want to forget that. It's a staple of the Nakayama household because it goes great with lots of things. Fried catfish made with cornmeal's okay, but I much prefer panko."

Josh chuckles along, "Homework? Yea. I can probably finish today's assignments in under an hour. I'm not one of those people though that will give themselves homework. Sometimes I do surprise myself though. In my Senior finals, we had an essay question relating to a topic we hadn't covered. Our teacher said that we didn't have to answer the question, but I still did. I answered as best as I could. Another times was in middle school when our science teacher had given everyone a test and most everyone failed. Only a few barely passed. I was the only one to score above a 90. I just have a knack for science. Biology interests me the most. Astronomy too. That's why I'm taking them at the college level. Anything else interesting happen today?" He smiles at Matt.

It's a relaxed evening. It seems that many are eager to have a quiet evening and get to bed in a timely manner in an attempt to recover what they had lost during the previous night. "It has a charm to it, doesn't it? The quiet." He downs the last of the lemonade and looks at the empty plate before him. I'm ready to head out whenever you are."

Matthew sat and listened to Josh talk as he continued to eat his food. "I'll keep that in mind." he said followed by some soft teasing. "Panko is life to Joshua Nakayama." He smiled and laughed softly, covering it up with taking a drink of his iced tea.

"Not really much else happened today. Most of my classes were laxed, so..." He shrugged his shoulders as he placed his cup down. "Oh! Apparently there is a party going to happen this weekend at Phi Alpha Theta. Dominic caught me on the way back to the dorm before we came here." He was contemplating on tell Josh about the attempted asking him out, but since nothing happened he wasn't sure. His mind was screaming at him to tell Josh or else there will be consequences. He also had to keep reminding himself that Josh wasn't Jason. Joshua was sweeter and kinder. Now suddenly Matthew was nervous as he pushed around the veggies on his plate. "He... also kind of asked me out. But I told him I had a boyfriend." Matthew lifted his eyes to look at Josh. "He seemed satisfied with that, not really sure how he felt when I told him it was you. Didn't stick around much to really find out. Kind of wanted to get to you so we could get to here." He said then taking a bite of his food.

He was enjoying his food and had finished off his plate a bit after Josh. "The quiet... yeah. It's nice. Not all the hustle and bustle it usually is." He then grabbed Josh's plate and stacked it on top of his own. "Let me take these away and then we can go." he said as he stood up and walked to where the used plates and utensils go. Once he put the plates in their place, Matthew came back to their table. "Ready?" He waited until Josh was up and following before making their way out of the cafeteria. Once outside Matthew bravely took Josh's hand as they walked back to the dorm.

Josh's eyes became large, "Asked you out eh? I'm sure he was stunned to find out it was me. Thinking of going? It's been a while since I've been to a party. Last time was when me, Trevor, and the other guys got together for one last caw of the Ravens before we went out separate ways." He sighs because he missed them terribly. Brett most of all. Maybe during the winter break, we can all come together. "Don't take my tone the wrong way. If you want to go, go. I don't mind that I wasn't invited."

Josh started to raise his hand up to protest Matthew handling the dishes, but he acquiesced and waited patiently for his boyfriend to return. Once Matthew returned, he grasped Matthew's hand and didn't let go until they entered their room. He closed the door behind him, "Home away from home sweet home" and locked it behind him. He opened his drawer and took out a plain white sleeveless tee and the same shorts he wore the previous night to put on to wear for the rest of the evening. "I'm going to get changed and then I am going to change. I'll leave the door open just in case you want a lookie."

Josh pulled his shirt off and his tags bounced on his firm chest. He then reached for his zipper and slipped out of his pants. Up the gym shorts and down the sleeveless tee go. He looks intently at his face in the mirror and his eyes looked up at his buzzcut. Let's see what short hair's done to my lupine visage.

The hairs on his arms and legs multiplied and grew denser until it became black fur. Josh's normally hairless chest became just as furry. It was as if nature had enrobed his normal human body with a wolf's pelt. His feet and hands were human shaped and sized but were padded and tipped with short claws, not the enlarged paws and feet of his digigrade form. His head felt tingly as it reshaped into its wolf version. No tail this time.

Satisfied with the changes, Josh didn't will anymore alterations. He grasped the edge of the bathroom sink countertop and checked out all angles of his form in the mirror as he brushes his fuzzy head with his hands, "My wolf mane's gone and my fur there is just as short as as the rest of the fur on my head. I suppose that's one element of the falsehoods that's actually true. Whatever changes are made to one form are reflected in the other." He exits the bathroom.
