William "Billy" Conlee

Billy was pleased to hear the shelf was fixed. He made a mental note to add 're-stalk shelf' on to his to-do list for tomorrow. He nodded his head with approval to the carpenter and added, "Ya know what time I open. I'm happy to hear 'bout the jobs ya been able t' acquire. Times are hard here 'n Coyote Point. Nice t' see yur still gettin' business." Billy was only this friendly when he was drinking. Mostly, he moaned and groaned around his general store praying no one would ask him any questions. "I'll let Nan know you're comin' by. She'll be happy to see ya."

Puffing on his cigar, his attention was taken off the carpenter when he realized his glass was empty. He looked around the bar for a second when he noticed Bonnie walk over and lean against the bar where him and Edward were making conversation. Billy smiled in her presence. While Billy loved the attention form the saloon girls, he never wanted them to take him back to their rooms. He just wanted some good conversation and even better whisky. Since his wife passed, he was lonely. Some nights he would come to the bar and sit up all night with one of the girls buying them drinks, chatting, and always compensating them for their time. It made him feel wanted and not so alone in the world. Bonnie was Billy's favorite girl. She always knew what to say to make him feel better and he never felt like she was taking advantage of him. Not to mention she was damn nice to look at. He loved the nights they shared together.

"My favorite gal! Just in time. I'm runnin' low, sweetie." Billy announced to the beautiful woman in red, holding up his glass. He watched the interaction between Bonnie and Edward and couldn't help but chuckle when Edward turned red at Bonnie's offer for a 'good time.' Too often he watched younger lads like Edward fall in love with the girls. It was their job to flirt and act like they liked each and every man in the bar. Sometimes, young men were too foolish to understand that. Edward looked at him and Billy could feel how uncomfortable he was. He tipped his glass at him as if to say 'you're doin' great' sarcastically. His attention was brought back to Bonnie when Edward asked how she was. He was wondering the same thing.

After Edward asked how Bonnie was doing herself, the red head smiled flirtatiously before sauntering into the bar area to grab Billy another drink. She grabbed the bottle and walked to stand in front of the men now, she stood silently for a moment before she opened the bottle with a satisfying POP. Pouring the dark liquid into the glass, she smiled at Billy. "Drink up Darling, the best things in life are free." She told the old man before looking back towards Edward a moment. Finally deciding to answer, seeing as how they both looked curious enough about it, she smirked, "Things have been mighty fine, most of my girls are happy and healthy, making their wages and being able to stay off the Landlords list." Bonnie grabbed the stem to the bottle and placed it back inside before moving to place it on the counter where it came from. "But I suppose that doesn't really say much about how I'm doing huh?" she asked lightly.

Pursing her lips, she didn't want to sound like she wanted pity, because that was the last thing she wanted. "Boys are good. Working is okay. I just think its ridiculous for the Landlord to raise the taxes so damn much." The stress was clear in her voice, and as she looked up to seek out any takers for the evening, she knew she wasn't going to find shit. "I just don't understand how he thinks we all can live. We have mouths to feed." She went on to complain. Moving to fix herself a drink, she tried not to look at the men as she reeled in her own emotions. "But I guess now I'm just rambling on...You boys enjoying your night so far?"

Jed was pleased when Kota agreed with him about NoManLand. It was a risk being that far out of the territory. They wouldn't have to worry about the Rattlers getting them so much as worrying about other criminals and bandits...not to mention the Natives who lived farther out, ready to scalp a poor fellow. Jed took another drink of his alcohol as Kota began to ask if she had something on her face. As if he wasn't already embarrassed enough, the woman had to make a big deal out of the staring he had done. His cheeks turned pink and he let out a quiet laugh as he shook is head, looking down and letting his head hang a moment before he looked up again, looking into her eyes now. "Trust me, even if there was something on that pretty face of yours, that wasn't what I was lookin' at." He grinned lightly. Jed didn't really know what had gotten into him in that moment, being so forward and bold like that. It wasn't normally like him to go around announcing things, now Kota would know he had just been looking at her.

No Rhyme or Reason to it. "But maybe you got a lil something on your face." He teased after a moment before poking her cheek lightly. Tipping back what was left in his glass, Jed placed the empty glass back down on the table and looked around. "At least we can all be happy for tonight...everyone seems to be having a good time despite the Landlords orders...but maybe that's just the alcohol huh?" He asked as he watched the rowdy crowd before him. Criminals, law men, whores and good folk alike were conversing in one room. Compared to what happened outside of the Saloon, Jed was pleased with what he saw.

Beau buttoned his collar up and made a face at his muddled reflection in the mirror. He raked a hand through his hair to straighten it, but its tangled mess just flopped to the other side. He puffed out a breath and watched as a couple strands of hair fluttered in protest. This was probably as respectable as he was going to look tonight. He closed his eyes, thinking back to when his mother had dressed him up for church, when he was an only child. Even back then his hair was always a mess and his clothes rumpled, but she always knew just how to fix it. He hadn’t cared much about his looks then, but she had proudly announced him a ‘handsome young man,’ which now brought an ache to his chest. He opened his eyes again and ducked quickly out of the bedroom, hurrying to grab his overcoat and shove his feet into his boots. He pulled his hat down over his hair before stepping out into the dusk. Winter was long past, but the evening still felt chilly to him as he shoved his hands into gloves and lifted his shoulders to protect his ears from the breeze. He tipped his hat and grinned at everyone he passed, feeling brief moments of regret for his poor health every time he saw someone with their sleeves rolled up and their collars undone. If he so much as thought about taking off his coat he would probably catch cold.
Ole’ Tucks Saloon posed a welcoming picture as it came into view; warm light seeping out of the door, cheery music and the sounds of drunken laughter invited the passerby to join in the drinking and merriment. Mav’s pace quickened slightly so he would reach the comfort of the familiar saloon a few moments sooner. He shed his coat and hat at the door, giving a boyish grin to the girl who hung it up for him. He paused a moment once she left, browsing the crowd for a familiar face. It wasn’t too hard to find several, but many of them already had a drink in their hand and a friend, or saloon girl, to talk to. He settled at the bar flashing Winona a quick smile when he caught her eye as she served another customer. Once one of the other barkeeps brought his drink, he turned his attention to the amber liquid and the music. He sniffed at the whiskey before taking a long drag, then coughed at spluttered at the bite in his throat. Yep, it still tasted like home.

Edward Buckley

Edward smiled and nodded at Billy's response. "I will be at your store bright and early - before you even open up," he assured him. He appreciated the man's words about it being good seeing him still getting business as it was the only source of income for him right now. He gave the man a thumbs up signal when she said he'd let Nan known about him heading to the school the next day. "It will be nice to see her too. I'll make sure those desks are functioning so the kids can focus."

The carpenter smiled at Bonnie as she explained most of her girls were able to earn the wages they needed. He was glad to hear they wouldn't be in trouble with the Landlord. He listened intently as she then spoke about herself and mentioned her kids. "Oh, jeez. How old are the boys now, Bonnie?" he asked her. He frowned when she mentioned how ridiculous the taxes raise was. It seemed to be affecting everyone and it saddened him to know many would struggle. He himself would struggle, but he chose to ignore his own plight. "I don't think idiots like him give us townsfolk the slightest bit of consideration. Are you and the boys going to be okay, Bonnie?" he asked her.

"My night is going well enough. All the better surrounded by good company," he assured her and Billy. He couldn't stop thinking about Bonnie having to support her family and he cleared his throat, glancing to the free drink he was halfway done with. "Growing boys needs healthy meals," he suddenly told her, directing the conversation away from himself. He reached into his pocket to retrieve something and then placed the money Mrs. Bell had given him into Bonnie's hand. "You take that, with no arguments. Those boys needs feeding and I was only going to waste it on alcohol tonight."

Dakota noticed Jed blushing and suddenly realised he wasn't looking at her because she had anything on her face. She realised she may have embarrassed the poor guy. When he complimented her, it was her turn to blush. "Ohhh. Do you think I'm pretty, Jed?" she asked, grinning at his comment. Then when he teased her that she may actually have something on her face, she couldn't help but laugh. "Really? Where?" she asked, just as Jed poked her her cheek. "You're a cheeky one, Jedidiah!" she playfully told him.

Dakota briefly scanned the saloon and nodded her head. "Most of the people here seem to be having a good time. I just hope they get more evenings like this," she said, letting out a sigh. She looked down to the bar for a moment as she acknowledged how much she appreciated evenings like this, in good company. Being surrounded by people, especially friends, helped distract her from the pain she felt when she was alone with her thoughts. There were gruesome and tormenting memories that she was sure would never leave her. She wouldn't wish it on anyone. She looked back to Jed and faintly smiled. "I hope none of these people have to go through the kinds of nightmares the like of the Rattlers can inflict. Nobody deserves that."

James O'Malley
Coyote Point looked pictoresque in the twilight as seen from the horse's back, stretching out over the backdrop of western nature, equally endless and rough. At the same time, however, it appeared smaller than James remembered, a quaint little place in the middle of nowhere. Of course, he had always known the town was far from a cultural hot spot, but after six years on the coast, even the main street felt desperately rural. And dirty. Unlike Boston, Coyote Point had never heard of paved streets, which might have been gentler on Dart's hooves, but it still made James frown. Dart, an auburn stallion, had accompanied him all the way from Boston, even though his cargo fee had been quite pricy and it would have been more logical to sell him and purchase a new means of transport in Coyote Point. James had to admit he was somewhat attached to the horse, given that it was the only living being he was able to bring along. Not like his city-dwelling friends would have found the town an exciting place to visit, anyway.

His return home was, perceived from any angle, not a happy thing, considering the occassion which had rushed his decision. The funeral was about to take place in the morning and James felt nowhere near ready. A large factor cotributing to the melancholy that troubled him was undoubtedly the presence of a tiny, nagging voice in his head that kept saying if only he hadn't lingered in Boston for those extra few months after wrapping up his studies, he could have seen his father still alive. Perhaps that was why he decided to postpone his arrival at the ranch as much as possible and stopped the horse in front of the Saloon. Sounds of cheerful, mildly inebriated voices carried out of the building - just like he recalled.

James tied his horse to the railing and grabbed the bag with his most valuable belongings before entering, just to make sure. If he remembered correctly, theft was a common occurence here. "Good evening, ladies and gentlemen," he said loud enough to be heard over the pianist, and immediately realized his mistake. While he hadn't spent much time in the Saloon before leaving for university, being barely 18 back then, it did occur to him that this wasn't the most common greeting. With a subtle smile, he made his way towards the only remaining empty bar stool, curious if he would still recognize anyone present, and if they'd recognize him.

After Bonnie poured him a fresh glass, he took his time with the liquid inside knowing that he was about to reach his limit. He didn't want to cause a scene in which Nan had to come pick him up again. Once was enough to embarrass him 'till his dying day. If there's one thing he didn't want to be it was the town drunk. Anyways, he was too busy keeping his shop afloat and fighting against the Rattlers to be the town drunk. So Billy slowly sipped on his glass of whisky and listening to Edward and Bonnie's conversation. He handed her a normal tip he would usually leave, despite the free alcohol.

"I'm glad t' hear you and th' girls is doin' okay, Bonnie. An' that Landlord...he'll get what's comin'. I feel it in my bones." Billy said, tipping his glass to her in a knowing way. "I'm doin' good sweetheart," He replied to Bonnie's question. "Jus' workin' at my store and thankin' the good Lord every day fur my daughter, Nan. She's grown into such a wonderful young lady." He said, pouring his heart out about his daughter.

Billy was intently listening to Edward's response to Bonnie's question when he heard a familiar voice over the music. He turned to see the O'Malley boy at the door. The saloon went almost silent with only the pianist's music being heard. Everyone knew why he was back. Tomorrow they were burying his father, Kieth. It's been a while since the boy had been in town since he went off to school to learn about medicine. The atmosphere of the saloon felt tense and had saddened.

"Well, if it ain't th' city slicker himself." Billy announced over the whispers and tension of the saloon. "It's good t' have you back, boy. Come on over an' get yurself a drink." Billy motioned him over to join in their conversation so everyone can go back to what they were doing before. I'm sure coming back home in such circumstances wasn't easy, let alone everyone staring and whispering when you walk into a saloon.

He'd watched the O'Mally boys grow up over the years. He remembers his daughter and her girlfriends giggling over how cute they thought James and his brother were. She would write 'Ethyl O'Mally' all over her diary in hopes that some day he would ask her hand in marriage. She was so sweet and innocent with her school girl crush. Keith O'Mally was also one of his very good friends. They often sat up at the saloon together in the evening after a long day of work. Billy was going to miss the company of his good friend and he wasn't ready to bury him tomorrow afternoon.
