Fantasy The Only way is Fae (Closed)

And now she was giving the orders, but at least she wasn't barreling full steam ahead this time. But still? Telling him to stay there as she ventured into the unknown? She couldn't seriously think that he was just going to go along with that.

"No." He said firmly, resolutely and then started his descent amongst the trees. He caught up to her while she was stopped at a stump and had reached down too something.

"Seriously Audra. You need to stop running off." It wasn't fair to him, and he was trying to protect her and she wouldn't even let him.

Audra gave Os a look that she hoped would communicate he apology for leading him on a wild goose chase to this spot. She had picked up the necklace and turning it over in her hands by the time he had caught up. It seemed silly that he was so upset, she had survived this long without his help, she was sure a run through the woods was tame compared to what else she could get up to.

"This is the same necklace that guy was wearing, that symbol we found information about at the library. Do you think maybe this tree had some kind of...I dunno...connection to the guy?" She wondered out loud. "And I still feel like we're close to the place you were talking about. It might be a different way to get there, but I'm pretty sure I could find our way back."

Audra was sure she could get them back to the car when they needed.

"We're safe here, Os. You don't need to be so worried about me." She told him, hoping he would understand. Now that she was out here, everything felt more intense. Like all of her emotions had been amplified by the energies of the forest.

"Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. I bet you still could find your special place from here." She urged him, hoping she was right. If he'd felt the energy of this special place, she had no doubt that he could still find it from there without much effort.

"Maybe this is where the guy ended up... you know when he was sucked under?" If that was even possible. He didn't know how the necklace could have even gotten here if it was the same one. And how she wasn't worried that they'd get lost astounded him. Maybe he'd been right... bringing Audra here was a good thing. But he hadn't expected her to be so casually comfortable that she did not bat an eye about wandering off far from the path.

"I'm glad you feel safe, but I might continue to worry if it's all the same to you."

Os would have never thought about testing himself before, but at her coaxing it seemed like a reasonable request. Os stepped forward, put his hands on her shoulders facing her and closed his eyes, taking in deep breaths and trying to hear something from the forest.

"I think I know which way to go. And I really hope I'm not wrong." He broke away from her and started off in one direction... taking each step cautiously.

Os seemed to take a moment to contemplate what Audra had said, and decided he would try. She was surprised when he put his hands on her shoulders and closed his eyes. Audra didn't move or say a thing as Os seemed to concentrate and then spoke again.

Audra could feel something here, this whole forest was alive, and she felt more alive for being within it. "I believe in you." She told Os simply as she followed behind him, still marveling up at the tree tops as they walked. She was still holding onto the necklace and when she wasn't looking up, she was examining it. "So, maybe this necklace ended up there because that's how the guy died, you know, inside a tree....Or the tree was connected to him somehow, and when he died, it died. I dunno, just throwing out anything and hoping something sticks."

She followed closely behind Os, her excitement growing. She had no doubt Os was leading them the right way.

She believed in him, but he wasn't sure if he believed in himself. He had been here enough times but was always very cautious when going off path, not just allowing himself to disappear and go wherever. But he did feel something, that pulsating, although feint, and he thought he knew how to follow it.

Her suggestions didn't make much sense to him, but they just couldn't work out the mystery of the necklace. This was all a mystery.

Trails of moss over large tree roots as he continued pressing in to the heart of the forest. "We're getting closer."

Os didn't seem impressed with her ideas about the necklace, and Audra hid his disappointment. They continued to walk, with the sounds of the forest growing louder, the further away they got from the place they found the necklace. Audra followed Os' lead as they walked through the trees. She had no doubt they would find their way back easily, even though she had never been in this forest, it seemed to be speaking to her. She knew she could get them out of there and back to the car even in Os didn't believe her.

When he said they were getting closer, Audra could hardly contain her excitement. She could feel the pulsing too, as they got closer to the spot. It made her heart happy to know that Os was at least in tune with the place enough to find it after she took off off the path. She followed closely behind Os as they trekked, feeling the pulse grow ever more steady as they approached the origin of it.

Wild flowers were popping up on mossy stones, around tree trunks and occasionally littering their path. The sounds of the birds seemed to pick back up, and every sound was like a call of some sorts.

They were absolutely getting closer.

The trickling water sound of a little creek also allowed itself to be heard as they continued on. Os held onto his breath and put an arm out to stop Audra from going any further. "If those were your powers that controlled the trees, do you feel anything yet? Is it something that you could possibly control?"

They had been walking along in the changing scenery when Os stopped her and asked her if she could feel anything. She nodded at him, she wished she could put into words the feelings that were inside her. She felt like she was being pulled along in a certain direction, and she wasn't quite sure she could tune into the energy to be able to control it. "I can feel it, the energy is kind of building up as we get closer."

She couldn't help but smile when she heard the creek. She knew they had to be close. She walked along with Os until she felt as if she might explode from the energy building within her. "We have to be pretty close, I feel like I'm floating on air..." Audra told him in a dreamy voice.
