Tetsuun raised his eyebrows, amused by the response. Ten thousand siblings. He wasn't sure if he was exaggerating, but if he wasn't, then that just seemed to further confirm that bug guy really was an oversized, talking ant. Not only that, but bug guy's behavior had an echo to the kids he had been dealing with throughout his life. He wasn't some fearsome monster to be handled with care; he was just stupid. Attention-seeking, perhaps, if he was going to casually mention abandoning his family, and he supposed some sort of colony of mutant insects as well. Tetsuun's smug expression faltered purely for being off-put by what he perceived as the strangeness of this all. He was much more relaxed now, however. He had survived this long, after all, without being mauled by any number of these strange creatures, in spite of his own provocation.
He was honestly irked by bug guy's consistent reference to his size, but it was something he was able to brush off now, knowing how surprisingly human the anthro was before him now. Nevertheless, the inquiry caught him off guard, making his expression blank. He was silent for a brief moment, thoughts of a little girl, pale with pigtails surfacing in his mind. "None of your business," he stated abruptly, squinting his eyes up to bug guy. No way was he going to start spilling anything out about his home life to this guy, or anyone in this room for, for that matter.
Just as he had gathered his wits again, bird guy approached him with an inquiry that left him even more blindsided. Bird guy approached now, his two pooches in tow. From where he was standing, Tetsuun could feel pulses of heat radiating off of them, which was steadily bringing a flush of warmth to his cheeks. It took him a moment to register and confirm what the man had said, both from the man's thick accent and disbelief once he was sure he heard him correctly, but then the message became clear: bird guy wanted to fight.
He had just begun to calm down, but now his heart felt like it was thudding painfully in his throat. It took a great deal of effort to not let these emotions reflect on his face, locking his panic inside him with a neutral stare. Everything was so strange here, he felt like whatever kind of combat that he would have to face would be completely foreign to him. Frantic visions of on of those dogs ripping into his flesh with searing fangs plague his mind, and he had already had to deal with burns in recent history. It wasn't something he was looking forward to going through again just as he had healed.
Why? It was the only thing he could think of to say amidst the chaotic swarm of thoughts in his mind, but the word caught in his throat. Bird guy standing before him was a complete enigma. Obviously he had received some serious blows to the chest, so what in the world made him think that it was practical to leave his chest exposed? Tetsuun was completely baffled by it all, and before he knew it, he simply wasn't responding at all - just staring up at him.
