James Porter
James managed a brief smirk as Lucy confirmed she'd inherited her mother's traits. "Damn, I'd best watch my back then," he remarked. His expression turned serious again as she explained why she had told the truth, slowly nodding along. When she began making it clear that he was important to her, James shifted a little awkwardly on the spot and his cheeks blushed. It wasn't that he didn't appreciate being important to her, in fact, it was quite the opposite. However, James had spent his adult life believing himself to be a weapon or a business asset, admittedly part of that was his own doing for building a wall around himself. To be told he was important to someone, especially Lucy, was rare to him and so it rendered him somewhat speechless. What he did know for sure, was that she meant a lot to him, more than anyone he'd known before. "You told her what was important, so that's all that matters," he reassured her.
When Lucy asked him if he was okay, James quickly nodded. "I think so, Lucy. I guess I'm just relieved and getting over the shock. It's been difficult around here knowing people were pissed off with me, and then what your mother did really shook me. You know I don't scare easily, but that was intense." he told her. It wasn't something he'd desired much in the past, but right now he was craving a hug, just some physical contact to remind him he was still alive and human. Luckily, he didn't have time to act on those thoughts before Luca entered the kitchen.
"Luca," James simply greeted him, stepping aside so the man could get to the cupboards and fridge. The two men hadn't spoken much since the night Gianna was shot. The pair hadn't exactly shared friendly words with each other the last time they were in the house together and James hadn't been willing to discuss the matter since.
