overview.
From the day it was founded, Coolsville was intended to be a serene town where people could simply thrive and exist. And as it's advertised, that's exactly what the town is. But locals know it for its dark, ghoulish history. Coolsville is not picture perfect. It's a town of disappearances, ghosts, and unsolved crimes.
The local police department has never been great at solving the town's mysteries. And once upon a time, a team of nosy teenagers took it upon themselves to delve into the history of Coolsville, a town they had long lived in. This team, known as Mystery Incorporated, was comprised of four teenagers and a dog. But what happened when Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, Shaggy Rogers, and Fred Jones went missing in their twenties? Well, after the mysteries they had solved, no one was able to solve theirs. They went down in the Coolsville Police Department Books.
The Mystery Inc. went down in Coolsville history as another unsolved crime. Many say that the teens from the 70s were getting too close to unravelling the Coolsville Curse. To discovering the true reason that year after year, another ghoul arrives, and another mystery goes unsolved. Of course, no one can truly prove that.
Everyone goes about their day as if mysteries aren't piling up in their history books, but another gang of teenagers unknowingly stumble upon the secrets of the previous Mystery Inc after meeting in detention.
It had been another day at Coolsville High. Drama, chaos, and a football game approaching. But these four strangers all got stuck in detention, for one reason or another. And while sitting in the library, they began to snoop around - but what was that raggedy book? A diary from some missing teens, long presumed dead? Some questions could finally be answered, and curiosity will get the best of them.
But will they be up to the task of solving mysteries and defeating ghouls? Can they do what Mystery Inc. couldn't and find out if the Coolsville Curse is real without meeting the same fate as their predecessors?

the trap-setting leader
open
This guy is popular and smart - he's the perfect package. He was almost born to be a leader, and he's ready to take charge and create the best plans for his group of meddling friends. He listens to the others when he needs input, but he's seemingly confident in each of his decisions. He's great at making traps to take on their next foe, which turns out to be a very useful skill for each of their adventures.
the danger-prone rich girl
open
Here comes the princess of Coolsville High. Her family is one of the richest, if not the most rich, in town. She was supposed to be untouchable, but ended up in detention like the rest of the gang. Still, she takes care of the rest of the gang. She seems to attract danger when they go out to solve another mystery. Luckily, the others are there to have her back.
the brainy truth-seeker
open
Many people may not know her for doing more than sticking her nose in her book, but this girl knows a lot about ghouls and mysteries. She's skeptical, of course, but that makes the work of her new gang so much more intriguing. Will it prove her right or wrong? What new things will she learn? It always helps to have a realist around, especially one so intrigued in the mysteries that have unfolded. She knows more about Coolsville's history than anyone else.
the fearful foodie
taken
He may not be the brains or the brawn, but he's definitely useful for the team. His greatest companion is his dog, who never leaves the teams side. And although his face is usually stuffed with food, he'll always follow his gang into a mission. Sometimes it just takes a bit of convincing... but he's truly got a big personality and heart.
rules
rules.
rule one.
This is a literate roleplay, so there will be a three paragraph expectation for this roleplay. it can be less, but it should definitely be more than 2-3 sentences per post. Quality is still better than quantity, though!
rule two.
The characters should have similar traits to their predecessors (from Scooby-Doo), but don't need to be duplicates of them. They should still be uniquely fleshed out and have their own backstories and personalities. They should definitely have their own names! Our danger-prone rich girl doesn't need to be the exact same as Daphne Blake, and so on for the rest of the gang. Also, one person per character! This won't be first-come, first-served.
rule three.
Please be active and communicate! Personal lives do keep people busy, so we'll have a Discord to stay in communication with each other. The post expectations will be at least once a week, but the more the merrier!
