The Ark, the last bastion of hope for a race born from a world destroyed, is pictured above. This is where all humans currently known have been born, have lived, and have died. The true scope of the vessel is hard to explain, but in relative terms, it has a similar amount of living territory to a state such as Ohio. This ship was constructed by the final generation of Earth dwelling humans as a last resort to continue the species as the Earth crumbled into ruin.

No one knows exactly what happened to Earth in it's final days, the logs were never installed detailing human history. In fact, the ship itself was never fully finished when launched. All that is known of Earth is legend and mystery passed down through stories by the first generation of residents, sent into the stars nine hundred years before the current time, leaving the five million residents of the Ark in ignorance.

In a search for a new home among the stars, automated scouts have been sent into the cosmos for the past seven hundred years to no avail, until now. One lone scouting drone has reported a planet that is similar in size and mass to Earth, with favorable conditions for life to exist, with one caveat, the indigenous species. What is found on this planet is a mystery to all, and those who leave to explore the new world may never return, but this risk is well worth it for fifty souls sent into the void as an exploration party.

Some info regarding the Ark.

The government is strict, and to maintain the maximum cap of five million residents, only the best and brightest, or most physically strong and apt people are allowed to reproduce. Everyone else is sterilized at a young age (not castrated, but rendered inert in terms of reproductive ability). Due to this fact, children are a a rarity among the society, and they are viewed as holier than though among all citizens.

Poverty is non existent in this society. Everyone has an assigned job, one that they do dutifully until reaching the age of seventy when they can retire. Everyone is a cog within the machine that is the Ark, and everyone, no matter how high or low they are assigned, is a prisoner as well, for there is no place for humans to go outside of the massive walls of the ship. It is on the Ark where you live, and where you will die.

Most people never leave the surface, but rumors exist of societies that live under the main level within the bowels of the ship. No one aside from the security forces know if these rumors hold weight.

If it wasn't clear to any people who read the OP, when in this RP, you'll be a member of the exploration party. Here is the breakdown of the fifty members of the crew. Most need to be filled. I'm more than open to any suggestions if you want to be something other than one of these though. They are more guidelines than anything else. Any spots not filled will be NPC'd.

1 Captain

1 First Mate

5 Pilots (the exploratory ship has smaller ships within it)

20 Marines

6 Scientists

  • Biologist
  • Astronomer
  • Geologist
  • Chemist
  • Technical specialist (Weapons guy)
  • Xenobiologist (biologist specializing in Alien species)

4 Chefs

5 Mechanics

2 Doctors/Surgeons

5 Deckhands

1 Psychologist/Psychiatrist/Therapy dude

I would like to apply for the chef/head chef if available

It's all yours man, and don't worry, there will be some action even for a knife wielding culinary artist.

Cooking is the only action I need, I have been meaning to test out my culinary appeal through text! But I would thoroughly appreciate being kept in the action ;)

I'm interested in the Psychologist or Biologist. I'm guessing whichever is up to me? Or are you wanting one of these to be taken more than the other? (Given you said "most" need to be filled)

The only ones that don't need to be filled are captain (NPC) and the captain of the marine platoon.

When it comes to what you want to pick it's up to you 100%

I'm down to be a simple rifleman; if that's what you were referring too when mentioning the 20 marine slots. This is a great RP idea however, and I'm completely interested. I could be a squad leader for the marines if you're lacking people, if only to move the RP forward a little quicker. I'm pretty okay with coordinating gunfights.

I would happily volunteer for this mission as a mechanic/electrician/handyman; because someone has got to make sure that the gears keep turning if the party hopes to last long. :)

Sounds good, a squad leader is a perfect position. I'll be controlling the upper leaders of the mission though for story's sake but when it comes to small squad tactics and such a leader is fine.

You got it (^U^)

Can i be a xenobiologist?
Yes but if you do choose that position, you and I will have several PMs throughout the course of the RP to keep my vision of the world and your characters knowledge on the same plane, although that's more of a middle ground than you'd think, I'm not very stingy.

There will be one but it won't be playable

Sounds good to me (^.^)

In that case... dibs on the biologist!
Also sounds good to me (^.^)

Can I be a Pilot?
Sure, there is one pilot that flies the main ship (the AI is the co pilot).

The other four pilots fly the smaller ships contained in the bay (fighters/scouts) and drop ship). So think on what position you want.

I think I'll be the pilot of the drop ship.

Question, does the Drop ship have any armament?

Can I be a mad scientist?
Idk about "mad" but eccentric is certainly acceptable with me.

Yeah it does, it's not a very nimble craft though, it's more of a flying armored personnel carrier.

Alright, I understand, I was just wondering if it had any power. Can I assume that you'll provide the ship's appearance/firepower?

Yeah I'm very thorough when it comes to my RPs, knowing me, I'll probably have a list of every ship's capabilities along with a map of the exploratory ship to give everyone common ground on locations and such.
