[The Lawgivers] Game Conversation

Nah your not holding anything up :P As I noted above I was only waiting because it hooked in with someone else. I wouldn't wait forever. lol

Thanks for coming in though. Also school sucks, but keep at it :P I am done with it myself.

If you are asking if there are other ways in exalted...yeah I could cite thousand of ways lol Just a few with the solars charms mostly in Larceny and the ability to go through any walls and the likes.

Should have a new post in a few hours pushing you guys to the wedding and going to talk to Ahlat at the same time. The past two days have been interesting... had a LAN party and stayed up till 5AM, went to work at 7AM and yeah... very tired. But I am rested now :)

Gonna wait for Rowan's conversation with a god then I will push you guys on to saving/killing the prince. However order you wanna do it :P

Can I have a quick opinion about a 5-dot artifact I'm thinking of?

Rule Breaker: This short-daiklave forged of Starmetal, Orichalcum, and Moonsilver rends not flesh and metal, but concepts and bonds. But it is finicky. Severing a bond requires the permission of one of the bonded, and it cannot touch bonds created by Heaven, such as the Lunar/Solar Bond as well as the oaths created by the Eclipse Caste. However, the oaths made by the Moonshadow caste can be easily rent apart. Severing a bond made by Heaven requires the permission of all the Incarnae or Gods involved in addition to one of the bonded.

Rule Breaker requires attunement equal to ALL of the motes in an Exalt's peripheral pool and all motes are discharged upon the severing of a bond (defined as an intimacy or a story-based connection such as a deathknight's connection to his monstrance), forcibly deattuning the artifact. When attempting to sever a bond, the user is required to roll a Occult+Perception at difficulty 7 . Success renders the bond severed while failure deals 7 levels of aggravated damage as well as forcing the user to take a -7 internal and external penalty until seven days and nights have passed. The aggravated damage cannot be healed without the period of 7 days and 7 nights passing.

Stat wise, Rule Breaker is equal to a short star-metal daiklave. Additionally, if the attack connects the user may take a Wits+Occult at difficulty 5. If it succeeds, Rule Breaker shatters all attunements to charms or artifacts that the exalt has. There is not penalty for failing this roll.

So you can break one bond, once by attuning all your peripheral motes to one artifact and then the artifact deattune itself? Some bonds require you to have permission to do anything? I dunno it doesn't seem to be worth artifact 5 with the limits put on it for just breaking one intimacy or mental influence. Plus it's not like the user knows what bonds or oaths are even taking place. This is just my opinion of course but breaking a deathknight bond to a neverborn would change their concepts greatly, almost feel like a plot device ability to be honest.

I kinda added those restrictions so it wouldn't be too OP. But since it is artifact 5, I can remove some stuff. Should I just dump it?

Well, my main thing you can indeed do something like that but no artifact in creation that I know of requires ALL peripheral motes. I mean, that's like 30-35 motes from a beginner Solar and the very quick possibility of dying in any encounters where you end up without any peripheral motes to even defend yourself. Most likely the way combat goes, someone attuned to this artifact would die before he even does anything with it.

I can see it work but would say make it simpler, like for example the user strike the blade with the intent of breaking a bond/intimacy that he knows of and if the blade succeeds in doing some damage, there is contested Willpower roll between the two. If The wielder of the sword beats the enemy with his willpower by more than 3 threshold successes above his opponent, he succeeds in breaking the bond/intimacy.

Also it might help if you define what kind of attack it is. Saying it is a shaping attack, it will probably be accepted more easily. Shaping attacks of course are crazy powerful like that because, it is very easy for a Solar to get IPP. But imagine this blade effects on Terrestrial Exalted and others creatures who don't have defenses against shaping effects.

I would say one stunt die from the double hit, but not much more. To be honest I forget to equate it, sorry :(

Also, I am waiting on JayTee's reaction since both of you seem to be in the tunnel system now, it kind of goes in a time sequence on what he does in the same timeline as you. I'll just assume JayTee doesn't get on the train if he doesn't update. Don't wanna put him anywhere he doesn't wanna be :D
