Realistic or Modern The Last Adventure

Clarence Lawson

"You really think so...? Cause I was thinking the same thing and all, it's just that I've never been good at approaching it..." 'Like in real life...' He added internally. His gaze shifted percariously between the pages of his novel, to Ric, to the rest of the people on the bus. Ric was the only one who knew his inability to write romance or hold a romantic relationship. It wasn't like he'd told him per say, it happened completely on accident.

They'd been working on a piece together, Clarence offering Ric advice on how to work a flashback into a novel smoothly. Yet he'd had to give an example to explain it thoroughly and let it slip that the character that represented him (both knew of the connection of each character in his novel to those on the bus with them at the moment) had been in a bad relationship that's left him untrusting to having one again. Ric had been understanding to it, as Clarence knew he would be, but it still was uncomfortable to bring up.

"I-I think that we could do it, but I'd need your advice on which characters to do it with..." He said thoughtfully and turned the page to add side notes into already cluttered margins. That was his thing, there's always space for things if you tried hard enough.

Seeing Hikaru on the bus talking to Brenda, Elizabeth immediately went over so she could join their conversation. She wasn't close to most of them and she hoped to close that gap during this trip but she just wasn't ready to take that step forward yet. She'll make sure to try to get close to more people later. After all, they've just begun the road trip. Right now, she just wanted to talk to people she was already comfortable with. Daniel was her best friend and she could have just stayed and talked to him, but it starts to get boring just talking to only him. Elizabeth wanted to talk to other people at the moment and socialize, although she didn't feel like talking to people she didn't know that well. Walking over to the two of them, Elizabeth didn't notice the flirtatious atmosphere around them. Other people probably would have noticed but Elizabeth just isn't the type to notice that kind of stuff. She has always been a little oblivious to stuff like romance and love. "Hi Brenda, hi Hikaru!" she greets cheerfully and then continued, "Hikaru if you're going to sketch Brenda then I'd love to watch! It's been so long since I last saw you draw" she says with a bright smile.

Daniel watched as Elizabeth walked away from him. Unlike Elizabeth, Daniel doesn't really have the same problem as she was having. He wasn't close to many people here too and he was sure most of them didn't have a very good opinion of him but he just didn't care. He found some friends that liked him for who he was and understood him. Elizabeth always tries to get him to clear up the misunderstanding people had on him but Daniel just didn't think it was worth it. He didn't want to explain himself every time, it was just a pain to do, so Daniel just stopped trying. He was just fine with the few true friends he had. He would rather have a few friends who like and understand him, rather than many friends where he has to pretend to be someone he's not. He was currently all by himself and looked around feeling a little envious of all the groups of friends. Yes, he felt envious, but he was never going to admit that.

Looking over towards Elizabeth, Hikaru, and Brenda, he sighed when Elizabeth cut into their conversation. He could see the flirtatious atmosphere between the two was completely ruined because of her. Of course, Elizabeth wouldn't notice that kind of thing, but Daniel can. Seeing as the atmosphere was already ruined, he decided to join in on the conversation so Elizabeth wouldn't look like the third wheel. Even if Brenda was indeed a part of the conversation as well, as long as she didn't do anything to annoy him, then he can deal with it. Hearing Elizabeth talk about Hikaru sketching, he says "If you need a model, then I wouldn't mind lending my handsome face" with a confident smile. Most people would find what he said completely arrogant and cocky but only his close friends would know it was just a joke. Daniel is indeed very sure of his own handsomeness but he doesn't try to compliment himself openly as much anymore. He only does it when he thinks he can bring it up naturally in conversation.

Hikaru Yuki

Hikaru smiled as Brenda exploded into her giggles. It was always so like her to get excited over anything cat related, even the puns! He set his sketchbook out on his knee and dug through his portfolio for his small pack of sketching pencils. He popped open the lid, revealing the different worn down materials. They were obviously well loved, but also looked like they were almost at the end of their road. He sighed inwardly and reminded himself to purchase more next time.

When Elizabeth approached, Hikaru grinned up at her from his seat. "Of course." He chirped happily. He usually would get somewhat self conscious when others would watch him draw.. People always had judgeful eyes. But he was always comfortable with Elizabeth watching. They were just good enough friends for that. He scooted over to make some room for her and went ahead with sharpening the already small pencils.

He looked up from fiddling with his pencils when Daniel spoke up. He chuckled softly and nodded to his friend. Daniel was really a good person at heart. A little misunderstood, Hikaru thought. "Perfect. I'll draw you two together!" He said cheerfully, his pencil ready to take off.

Brenda was too far into a conversation with Hikaru, that she didn't even realize they were nearing their destination. She always thought that the two would be friends for the longest time, if not forever. A romantic relationship might be a little weird, because she's far too childish and inexperienced. Of course, she simply enjoyed his presence very much.

Brenda was also conversing with Daniel and Elizabeth, though the narcissist seemed to be having none of it. She noticed that he wasn't wearing the friendship bracelet she gave him earlier, and it broke her heart a little. They weren't that close, but she still cared. They were just fine alone, but Liz always manages to change that somehow. Perhaps he just wanted her all to himself?

As Emilia stepped out of the bus, the small kitten was snapped out of her thoughts. She quickly went to follow, and realized that they were, in fact, at the Grand Canyon. She squealed, and jumped around at how stunning it was. Hikaru would
definitely have to draw this.

"Isn't it beautiful?" I just thought it'd be nice to say goodbye."

"It's the most spectacular thing I've seen in the entire world!" Brenda began to jump around, and flap her arms. She was probably overexcited, and was definitely getting some looks.

Alaric smiled as he stood from the driver's seat. He gestured for his friends to follow, and then stepped out to take a look at the scenery. It really was mesmerizing, but he thought about how all the other locations probably were too. "Brenda, you're going to say that about every stop we make."

Brenda turned around, and stomped her foot.
"I will not! Trust me on that, Mr. Quiet Judge."

Alaric smiled at the childish nickname he had received, and shook his head a little.
"Mr. Quiet Judge? That's a new one. Anyways, you did a great job with the first stop, Emilia. I like the whole 'sentimental' vibe you were most likely going for." He stepped forward a bit to take in every detail about this place- from the rushing waters that fall into the gorgeous blue waters below, to the crimson walls that have splashes of a brown color.
