Backstory: Joey discovered his abilities at the age of 12, using them to his advantage in his schools track team. He used his abilities to cheat his exams after a while along with petty theft, until he accidently slowed down his father putting him in a coma.

Since then, Joey has been fighting crime in his small town under the guise of Rewind; until he was sent a letter from TIEUP. He joined the summer program, giving him an extra trimester of experience.

Sexuality: Closeted pansexual (he likes all genders without much preference, though he hasn’t come out and said it yet, hence still being in the closet)

Abilities
One of Lysander’s notable qualities is that he can’t feel physical pain but can still suffer as a result of wounds, meaning he would still need medical attention if he got injured regardless of him not being able to feel it. This condition is separate to his gifts and exists in a small percentage of regular non-gifted people. Lysander’s special abilities are that of the avatar: he can bend the elements, as detailed below:

Elemental manipulation: Be it fire, earth, air or water, Lysander is able to manipulate or “bend” any of the four elements to his own will. At his current stage, Lysander can only manipulate an element if there is an available source, but within time he will learn to summon elements from his hands without needing any source. Luckily, he can make an element slightly stronger than the source within reason (i.e making more water out of water) so the source doesn’t have to be a huge one. He also is always able to use airbending seeing as though air is always present, as well as earthbending being more attainable outside.

Conjure elements: [Not able to yet – will learn at the institute] Lysander will eventually be able to bend elements without a source being present, for example, he will be able to shoot fire out of his hands without needing to be near a flame.

Stormbending: [Not able to yet – same as above] Due to his elemental manipulation, Lysander will eventually learn how to manipulate and control the weather. He will be able to summon storms, conjure rain or wind from above and even create lightning bolts during storms for offensive purposes.

Strengths
Fitness and agility from being a regular gym goer and wannabe Kpop idol, outgoing personality, optimism, loyalty, extremely accepting of others, not feeling pain. In future, being able to create elements will be his biggest strength.

Weaknesses
Storm brewing: When Lysander is having a rough time the weather in the area can worsen drastically against his will, often reflecting his general mood if that mood is strong enough.

Novice: Since Lysander only recently discovered his abilities, at his current skill level he needs a source to be able to bend an element, not yet being able to create the element out of thin air. He will later learn how to during his time at the institute.

The fact that he doesn't feel pain can also act as a weakness - if he doesn't realise how injured he is it can be life-threatening. As well as this, despite his optimistic exterior, Lysander is deeply bothered about 'the incident' ruining his life goals and doesn't like that he is different to those he grew up with, knowing most people now think he's a monster as well as a freak.

Appearance
Lysander has longish hair that is almost always dyed an unnatural colour despite being naturally black. He is 5’10 with a slim and athletic body. He has various piercings (one lip ring and one small eyebrow piercing as well as multiple in both his ears).

Backstory
Content warning: mentions of bullying and physical violence

Growing up, despite being conventionally attractive and athletic, Xander was known by his classmates as the freak who couldn't feel pain and was largely alienated and bullied in school because of his condition. Born in South Korea as Jeong Minsu (Minsu being his first name) and moving to America at the age of nine where his parents gave him his English name, it was Lysander’s childhood dream to make it as an idol in the Korean music industry. His parents were okay with that, providing he still finished school. He had the talent, the charm and the mindset, but this dream of his would never come true.

The bullying started when his classmates learned of his condition, and though Lysander couldn’t feel it when they would beat him up, it hurt him mentally and emotionally. The last time was by far the worst. On a senior year camping trip, Lysander decided to go on a late-night walk to one of the secluded campfire spots to clear his mind. He realised too late that he had been followed. If he hadn’t been outnumbered he would’ve actually stood a chance at defending himself, but there were six of them. This time lasted longer than usual, probably because it was at night when they wouldn’t be seen. Within time he started dissociating so he didn’t have to think about what was happening or how expensive the medical bill would be this time, but all of a sudden they stopped hitting him.

To Lysander’s horror, his closest friend had come looking for him too. Lysander didn’t care much for his own safety, but he couldn’t stand to watch the people he cared about get hurt. The sight of them grabbing and pinning his friend down just as they had done to him caused an intense rage he had never felt before. No matter what he said, they wouldn’t listen. When the first punch landed on his friend’s face, Lysander shrieked out, and at the same time, the campfire almost doubled in size. The second punch was likely the last punch that bully would ever throw in his life. “FIRE!”, someone screamed, pointing in horror at the guy who had landed the blow. “HE’S ON FIRE!” — Within seconds, all six of the bullies were engulfed in flames as the campfire crackled and spat fireballs angrily.

Though the fire saved Lysander and his friend from the attack, it didn’t save Lysander from what consequences would come next. None of the bullies died, but all of them were hospitalised and burnt quite badly. Each of the bullies were far too scared to press charges, but Lysander couldn’t exactly celebrate. What haunted his mind was the way his friend looked at him with an expression of sheer terror right after it happened. Lysander didn’t do it on purpose, but the animalistic feeling of rage he felt leading up to it told him that he somehow did cause it to happen. He started to practice manipulating fire with lighters until his parents found the lighters and confiscated them, but through improvised exploration he soon discovered he could also manipulate air, and then water, and then earth. He honestly thought he was going insane.

Despite the bullies deciding not to get the police involved, rumours of what happened that night spread almost as quickly as the flames had, and soon even the news was talking about the alleged young Korean arsonist. Nobody could agree on just how he had managed to burn six specific people without gasoline and avoid hurting his friend or getting burnt himself. Soon, however, Lysander received a strange letter in the mail promising him answers if he took up an offer to visit some institute. With no hope of him becoming an idol due to the incident being publicised by the news, Xander saw no other option but to accept.

Astral projection
Damien can project his consciousness outside of his body, traversing the astral plane by sending his consciousness to spectate any location while he is also able to pass through solid objects such as walls. When Damien wishes to be seen during his astral projection, his consciousness must temporarily possess an animal - he usually chooses to take the form of a wolf or a crow, hence two of his nicknames. Damien can also astral project into someone else’s dreams since he first learned how to project while asleep.

Illusion manipulation
Damien can create realistic illusions that can appear anywhere within the same area as him, making people perceive things that are not actually there and cannot be touched. His illusions are only optical and cannot be audibly heard, only manifesting visually as if he is summoning something from the dream world into the real world.

Mind projection
Damien can combine both his astral projection and illusion manipulation abilities to project his own voice into other people’s minds, meaning he can make his voice heard and “talk” without physically talking.

Strengths

Weaknesses
When astral projecting, Damien can’t control his physical body, effectively falling into a coma until his consciousness returns. This means his physical body is vulnerable to attack during astral projection. He also sometimes comes across as rude without meaning to be due to his initially blunt and stoic personality.

Appearance
Damien is a half-Japanese half Caucasian-American man with dark shoulder-length hair and brown eyes. He stands tall and lean at 6’2 with defined muscles that are a result of his training in martial arts.

Clothing
He usually either wears formal or casual clothes and often mixes the two styles together, somehow without too much clashing. This includes formal shirts with most buttons undone, sneakers with suits and rings with hoodies and tank tops.

Backstory

On the night of Damien’s sixteenth birthday, he had the worst nightmare he had ever had in his life. In the dream, his brother tragically died in a motorbike accident, and for some reason, Damien was standing by the side of the road watching it happen in what felt like slow motion. He was relieved to wake up that morning and realise that it had just been a nightmare and that his brother was alive and well... That was, until he never returned home that night — motorbike accent. Damien’s dream had accurately predicted the death of his brother, much to his horror.

Ever since that night, Damien visited real places in his dreams as an observer whether he liked it or not. Some of his dreams were meaningless and mundane while occurring in the present time, while others were glimpses into the future that often proved extremely useful. When he was more used to astral projecting, on nights he had nightmares of future tragedies he began to hunt the person in danger down and protect them from harm to change their fate, like an anti-Grim Reaper. On Damien’s eighteenth birthday, he found himself daydreaming about another country in geography class, and the next thing he knew he fully immersed in his imagination — stood on the streets of Japan as if he had a VR headset with impossibly perfect realism. The only thing was, no one could see him or hear him, just like his dreams. Before long, Damien was waking up in the school’s nurse’s office back in America after reportedly losing consciousness.

It was soon apparent that Damien could astral project in real-time from being awake. In these purposeful astral projections, he developed the ability to take the form of living animals in order to make himself seen, and though he still couldn’t talk while projecting, people learned that seeing a grey wolf or singular crow meant that something bad was about to happen and that they should quickly change their course of action or leave in order to avoid a tragedy.

Unfortunately, over time Damien’s futuristic projections grew lesser and lesser and so he couldn’t foresee and prevent as many incidents as he was happy with. Instead, he had to resort to using his real-time astral projection to solve problems that had already happened like kidnappings and missing person cases, but every time he saw a fatal tragedy on the news he felt like it was his fault for not dreaming of it first. Feeling like a useless and sorry excuse for a hero, Damien began to use his astral projection for more shady deeds like obtaining people’s credit card details and selling classified information to people who were willing to pay a fortune.

Damien was eventually caught for his crimes, though the court didn’t know how he did it. One day after one of the court hearings at age 21, a mysterious stranger approached him and offered his freedom on the condition that he enrols in this strange-sounding institution or school that he had never heard of before. Of course, it was a great deal, and that was how he first became introduced to The Institution for Enhanced and Unique Persons which would help him hone his abilities and learn even more useful ones such as projecting his voice into other people’s minds, creating visual illusions and eventually visiting people in their dreams.

Just over decade later, Damien now works at the institution as a teacher, figuring that there’s nothing better to do with his life than to distract himself from his own problems by helping people learn to solve theirs. His brother’s death is a heavy burden that Damien still feels weighing in the back of his mind, leaving him largely unemotional and stoic so that he doesn’t have to feel many things - he now rarely ever lets himself get too close to people emotionally. This may also be a result of the psychological trauma that witnessing so many deaths and feeling so much guilt when rescues don’t go to plan has left him with.​

Abilities: Bloodbending: The ability to physically manipulate blood with the mind and change its texture.

Skills: Ari can change her heartrate, keep herself from bleeding, and if cut, can manipulate her own blood outside her body like a third limb. She can harden the blood and even use it like a blade. She thought this was the extent of her powers, but just recently discovered that she can manipulate other people's blood too.

Weaknesses: If too much of her blood is being used outside the body, she will suffer the symptoms of bloodloss. She also cannot clean her blood at will, so if her blood gets contaminated outside the body, it could pose a very dangerous threat to her health. When she hardens her blood, it's very brittle and not very structurally sound. If the blood has to bear weight at all, it may rip her skin where it attaches to her.

Appearance: Ari is about 5'3", 120lbs, and quite slender. She isn't incredibly strong. She has dark red hair and yellow eyes.

Clothing or Costume: Nothing special right now, but she does tend to wear t-shirts so she can access her blood via her forearms. She also uses athletic tape on her arms to improve the integrity of her skin. She also carries a scalpel on her at all times so she can access her blood.

Backstory: Ari discovered her power at a young age when she fell off her bike and cut her knee and somehow willed the blood to go back inside her knee and scab over. Ever since then, she's been intrigued by her power and enjoyed using it. Her dad thought her power was cool and encouraged her to explore it, while her mom thought it was scary and discouraged the use of it. Other than that, all was well until a few months ago, when Ari had a fight with her parents and a nearly unexplainable tragedy occured. Out of nowhere, when Ari screamed at her parents, they both... Exploded. Died. The autopsy confirmed that their blood pressures had risen so high that they literally exploded. It turns out, Ari could control other people's blood as well, but she didn't know it, and certainly hadn't meant to. But that wasn't good enough for the police ofcourse. When TIEUP heard about the case, they bailed Ari out of jail and sent her to the school, in hopes that she could become a hero instead of rotting in a cell for the rest of her life. The only thing is... Ari no longer wants to use her power. Since she can't feel when she is controlling other people's blood, she's become afraid of it. She just wants to live a normal life. But it's too late for that now.

Age: 18
Gender: Cisfemale. Shifts to either, any.
Sexuality: Pansexual
Abilities: Shapeshifting & Regeneration.
Mags is able to turn into any living being, big or small, tall or short, partially or fully. She can change her hair color, grow deer antlers, turn into a mermaid or a centaur, give herself gills to breathe underwater, turn her arms to wings, mouth into beak, feet to talons, give herself another set of arms, have red eyes or purple skin. She can't however turn invisible, breathe fire if she turns to a dragon, etc. She can also turn into any human, full with their clothing, though might get details wrong (e.g. birthmarks covered by clothing, color of eyes, may appear too young or old). She can heal herself rapidly, and it happens even without her focusing on it. She reverts back when knocked unconscious, and regenerate noticeably slower, though still faster than a normal human. If she falls asleep normally, she can retain the last form she shifted to.
Skills: Master of anatomy: she's proficient in the study of living beings' bodies, as she needs to know to shift into them. All the things she can shift to have been the result of meticulous studying, a series of educated guesses followed with trials & errors. Close combat: she could just make herself stronger or more agile by shifting accordingly, and it's even easier when she shifts into her non-human forms.
Weaknesses: Sensitive to iron/steel: it burns her skin, disrupts her regeneration, makes shapeshifting difficult though not impossible. Feels every pain, even after shapeshifting to another form and seemingly fully healed, for however long it would take the wounds to fully heal using her naturally regenerative state, and this can stack with every wound, making the pain simply unbearable. Would die if her head and torso are separated.
Appearance:
Wavy light pink hair (is actually black if she's knocked unconscious), icy blue eyes. Light to pale skin. No piercings, no tattoos. Naturally 5'5".
Clothing or Costume: Changes her style daily, as do her features. Though "by default" it's just simple black tank-top and leggings with high tops. Doesn't need costumes.
Backstory: Magdalene got in a brutal car accident with her parents at the age of 7, activating her powers, and she managed to escape unscathed, though she lost her memories in the process. She walked away from the crash, until she was found by someone who took her to the authorities. Turns out she was far from home, no one recognized her, and because she didn't show up in missing children databases, plus she couldn't remember anything, they just dropped her off at the nearest orphanage. She discovered shapeshifting not long after, and used it to be a little rascal, making problems and causing fights while in the form of other kids, blaming it on them. She hops from orphanages often whenever she felt like it, because she's bored of her environment, or causing ruckus there was just not fun anymore. Though she's never really use her powers for her own benefit, other than for pranks, or starting dramas. Entering her teen years, she left the orphanage permanently, escaping to live in forests and woods instead. She still went to nearby cities and towns, using her powers to enroll in schools as different people, never staying anywhere too long. She liked living away from people, as she can experiment shifting to different forms, pushing boundaries of what's possible. Somehow TIEUP caught wind of her, and she got an invitation to go there. She decided to go, because it's not like she has better stuff to do.

Merida Woods

Name - Merida Woods
Age - 18
Pronouns - She/Her
Position - Student
Sexuality - Hell if she knows

Abilities - Merida has the ability to create powerful waves of sound that she uses to fight. She can create a field that emanates from her that more or less disables opponents as it can hurt to be inside of that field but she can also focus her powers to a point and attack with a burst of sound. She also has quite an enhanced sense of hearing which makes her great at eavesdropping and spying on people.
Skills - She can almost fly, she can push sounds waves down through her arms and if she remains steady this pushes her body upwards but she isn’t good enough at it yet to be useful. Also growing up in rural Scotland she has gained quite a bit of strength from doing chores around the farm.
Weaknesses - While she has practice her powers on trees or rocks she has no experience in active fighting and that is her main weakness. Also while her own sound waves don’t affect her, her enhanced sense of hearing means she is very susceptible to loud nosies.

Personality - Merida isn't shy, she loves to be energetic and friendly and whenever she gets the chance to meet knew people she always greets them with a smile on her face. Although some might find her personality grading she doesn't particularly care what they think of her as growing up alone on a farm she never learnt to be self conscious of herself.
Appearance - Striking wavy red hair cut into a semi-short style and blue eyes, lots of freckles with pale skin and is quite average height at 5'6".
Clothing - She grew up on a farm where she often wore overalls and boots and shirts she chose to have animals or flower patterns on them. She loves hair clips and collecting funky socks to wear. She doesn't really care how others judge her dressing style as growing up on the farm all there was to judge her was her parents.

Backstory - Merida grew up on a farm in northern Scotland, her parents were standers parents and Merida was their only child. She loved the farm, loved the animals, love Scotland, loved everything. However she began to notice as she got older that she had certain powers, she would start to create weird sound waves around her that emanated from her and it freaked her out. She tried her best to hide it from her parents but it kept getting worse. Eventually she began to sneak away in secret to practice her powers. She learned to focus the sound waves to a point in order to create a sharp burst and even began practicing flying. Even on a remote farm in the middle of nowhere Scotland she was scouted and invited to enrol in TIEUP, she lied to her parents telling them that she wanted to enrol in college overseas and so they let her go but still don't know of her powers.

Alias: Deadeye
Position: Student, year 2
Age: 19
Abilities: Enhanced projectile accuracy
Skills: Ranged weapons, hand to hand combat.
Weaknesses: Henry cannot use his abilities when blinded or when any of his other senses or masked.
Appearance:
Clothing or Costume: Henry usually wears homemade combat gear, using the schools shop class to modify the outfit.
Backstory: Henry’s father was a veteran, paranoid from his PTSD. After a Henry’s mother left, his father struggled to raise him.

Years later Henry has become an expert marksmen from his fathers reading, unaware of his abilities. Henry soon discovered his supernatural accuracy before he was invited to the school after.
