The Inn at the Edge of the World (OOC)

I agree with Adelaide on this one. If we tie him up in the back of the caravan (with a blanket to cover his giblets) we can let him out later after we're out of the woods. If he is worth anything as a criminal, they're generally worth more alive than dead. If he happens to be a trader that was ambushed by bandits and stripped of his possessions, he might prove to be an ally later on after we've saved his life.

Whatever the case may be, we'll never know who or what he is if we kill him now. As long as we keep him under control I don't mind adding a bit of risk for possible reward.

Besides, I'm still waiting on my results from @Silvertongued before I say anything in the main thread.

Teh Frixz]He might have a bounty on his head or have a missing person notice. Either way we can simply chalk it up we found him dead and took the head.
[URL="https://www.rpnation.com/profile/12124-kamikahzy/ said:
@KamiKahzy, I hadn't thought of him as a trader, actually. It could be useful too.

@Teh Frixz, entirely possible, and a potential source of income/information. Although, having them join out of loyalty could make for a useful recruiter in the future. Oh jeez, your most recent post has got me thinking of this classic of the 00's:

:P

"...first, one of you touch the stakes," he says suddenly, chewing his bottom lip, hastily adding. "And- and recite the Venic Blessing,"
The fantasy version of the kindergarten playground taunts of "I know you are, but what am i?" xD

Oh aye, I was meaning to post recently, but I've been busy celebrating having survived another year. A post should be up tonight or tomorrow.

Well, certainly a lot we can glean from what he's just said here. Couple of hypotheses I'd like to share. Ahem:

1) He's telling the absolute truth and is in fact being hunted by fae at this very minute. Worst case scenario they want him dead or captured for some slight he made against them. Best case he's their latest toy to alleviate their boredom. If he's the former there's a good chance they won't give up the chase anytime soon, but if it's the latter they might get bored if they find suitable resistance from us.

2) He's hallucinating and/or confused about his time in the woods. There's any number of things that could be hunting him out in these woods, be it man, beast or fae. Or he could simply be seeing things in the dark when his mind has time to wander, especially if he's been eating plants or shrooms he shouldn't be.

Either way, we wont know for sure what the truth is unless we take him with us and get his whole story. Maybe have Ealhstan check him out for any obvious signs of hallucinogenics or abuse. If he is being truly hunted by fae he may have a mark on his body somewhere displaying that fact, in which case we might be better off hogtying him and leaving him to his fate. But on the other hand, if he is an official messenger we might get some good reputation with a noble house if we help him on his way.

Speaking of, does anybody recognize the house name he mentioned? I'm also a bit confused on what he means by 'motherland'. Is that Kelen or some other country?

Also, considering Adelaide is from nobility, she might be more inclined to use 'palatable' as her adjective. :P

Yknow, it'd be hillarious if the old woman in the caravan came out with a blanket and tried to be a total lech to our new passenger.

Speaking of, anybody recognize that name he threw out about the noble house? Doesn't ring any bells for me.

Well, since we're not keen on talking with the man until we're out of the woods I don't really see a reason to drag this encounter out any further. Let's press on, shall we?
