Realistic or Modern The Illustrious Remake

Remi P. Michel

Remi didn't actually remember when he received the message from Maggie. He didn't remember if it was on the way to the game, during the game, after the game? He just knew he had gotten an urgent message from Maggie to meet him before they left on the buses. He could check the timestamp, obviously, but the point was that WHEN was inconsequential. What mattered the most was that he was so high from the win, from celebrating on the field with his teammates, a kiss from his fiancee, the post game locker room speech from their coaches..the game ball being presented to Levi...he was so wrapped up with the football win that he had forgot the message existed. So much so he didn't remember when he saw it...

He took in a deep breath, sliding his letterman jacket on and facetiming Amy,"Hey babe...so I just got a weird message from Maggie saying to meet her and I know how you feel about ...me around her...so I just wanted to make sure you were there to so that there weren't any second hand accounts of what happened being passed on to you..." If it had been anywhere else but the stadium, like maybe somewhere neutral in Atlanta? Somewhere lowkey where he didn't have to worry about random pictures being taken..he might have met her alone.

He was being cautious though. He didn't know what it was about and could not risk his engagement over something small as her just saying congratulations and it being passed all over social media. He tightened the duffle back around his shoulder as he hung up from facetime to meet Amy and then headed to meet Maggie. He wanted to know what was so urgent that she had to meet him in person, and that was driving him crazy trying to figure out when he could be celebrating his win.

Amy couldn't be happier and prouder of her man. Remi and the whole team honestly played their asses off and in the end they got exactly what they deserved. They came home with the win, and it was an amazing site to see. The crowd was fantastic, the energy was on ten, and honestly she imaged this is what it might feel like to see your partner win the Superbowl, or at least close to it. It was the perfect end to her week since she'd basically felt like she aced her midterms, and now she could relax the rest of the weekend celebrating with her fiancé once they got back home.

That was the plan until she saw an incoming facetime from Remi just as she was getting back into her car. "Oh... that is weird. Thanks for letting me know love, I appreciate you." She chimed happily. She was grateful that he was taking her feeling into account with this. She likes to think she's pretty laid back about most things, but there is something about Maggie that always drives her crazy. She hated it, but she also didn't know how to stop it. "I'll see you there in a bit then." She hummed before hanging up. She went ahead and got out her car and started walking to meet the two. She had a knot in her stomach because even for Maggie this was weird.

____________________________

Maggie stood looking down at the invitation. Jesus what was she going to say? She'd had the conversation in her mind about a hundred different ways the whole ride up with Stassi, but none of them seemed to end well. She also was hoping Amy wouldn't hate her, but there was little to no chance of that happening considering how the girl already felt about her. She really had tried to avoid this to keep all parties involved happy, but she couldn't escape the fact that this information would get out and even deeper than that...she couldn't guarantee she was a 100% fit mother especially by herself. This child deserved at least one respectable parent in their life.

She hated that this might ruin his night after a win like that, but selfishly she'd rather tell him in the best mood possible, then in a bad one. She wasn't waiting too long, and she texted Stassi that the moment was about to be here, so if she didn't arrive back at the car then Remi literally killed her. Surprisingly Amy was the first to arrive, and Maggie found it hard to look her in the eyes. The two girls just waved at one another. Outside of work events they didn't really interact much even back in their high school days. They just never ran with the same group of people outside of Remi they had no real connection.

It didn't take long for Remi to arrive, so Maggie closed her eyes and took a deep breath, "I'm actually glad you're both here. I know I probably should've messaged you too Amy because this will concern you to since you're getting married and all." She swallowed hard and reopened her eyes. It wasn't until this moment that it truly sunk in that all of their lives were about to change forever. The way they all see each other would shift, and all because of one night almost two years ago. Her eyes started to gloss over with emotion because she hated this. She hated that her recklessness caused this, and whatever ripple effect that were about to come. It was all her fault...and for the first time in her life she had no one to blame but herself. "I-I'm so sorry." she squeezed the paper in her hand. "I...I don't know how to say this despite my best efforts so I'm just going to spit it out and pray you both forgive me." She stretched out the invitation towards Remi, "I'm here to invite you to our daughters first birthday. I'm sorry, but Mila is actually your daughter Remi. I wanted to tell you before the media gets a chance too." a few tears started to rolled down her cheeks, "My family already confirmed it, so I can't hide it."

______________________________

Amy was speechless the entire time Maggie spoke. As the words left her lips...she wasn't sure what emotion she was feeling because so many rushed over her at once that it left her body frozen. Did she just say they had a CHILD together, who was turning one years old??? This couldn't be happening. There was just no way? Sure they weren't together two years ago, so it's technically possible, but what were the odds? She thought it was some guy in New York that was the father all this time? Why now of all times was she suddenly telling Remi it was his? What was there to gain from this? She looked down at the invitation then over to Remi to try and gauge his reaction. What where they going to do? What was HE going to do if this was true. If they really are going to co-parent a child together now? What does this mean for them?

Jett didn't think that being alone would affect his game, but now but teams were tied, 3-3, because of a mistake he made. Jett was being hard on himself and now everything was weighing on his shoulders at half-time.

It wasn't until his teammates elbowed him so he could look at the stands. Jett's cool demeanor change completely when he saw Lisa.

Isn't she supposed to be with her sister? I thought..it's happening already right? The event? She's late! Or maybe...she came for me..?

He thought and he covered his eyes with his shoulder to wipe his sweat as well as the tears that were burning his eyes. He raised his hand to wave to her, his partner, his girlfriend-who had his number on her and had a sign just for him. Rooting for him.

"Wu Wu go Jett"

After the halftime was over Jett wanted to play his best for her. No fouls. Strong defense. Just an opening, he just needed one opening. Jett felt like he was running back and forth. Both their teams defense was solid and each second he knew they were running out of time. He didn't want an overtime and he knew the other team didn't either.

Unfortunately, in the last quarter there was a foul to where the other team got to make a free kick. It was 12 yards away from the field goal, but even still it was a chance. A chance Jett couldn't not take.

As the whistle was blown and the kickers foot made contact with ball it was go time. The opposing team was trying to do a slick free kick trick. Everything felt like it was happening in slow motion, but in reality it was a couple seconds. Jett slid forward onto the ground and made contact with the ball and up it went. Jett would describe it as a pinball machine, his teammates used the their heads(literally. A header play). After 3 of his teammates got the ball more than halfway Jett sprinted his way across the field. His lungs were burning and his legs felt like heavy weights, but he pushed through and slide tackles the ball so the other team wouldn't have a chance to steal the ball. The multicolored sphere practically glided quickly in the direction of the goal.

Hearing the cheers around him from his teammates to the fans out on the stand was a spectacular moment. In the end all he really cared about was Lisa and if she was proud of him.

"Here we go.."

Nilan chuckled a bit as she walked over to him. "Oh so you do remember my name". she said jokingly. "I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing now that I think about it" She exclaimed while looking over his attire. Her facial expression revealed nothing out of pity, but more of curiosity. "Out of all the places in the world and you choose to work here? It..makes me intrigued by you even more than the dancing at the party"

At least he doesn't look like he hates his job. He does look slightly tired, but who doesn't? Wait wait he's working and I'm rambling. Does he seem to mind? He might be too nice to tell me to stop.

"I know you're working right now, sorry if I'm keeping you too long. I can leave if you want me to?" She suggested with a small tilt of her head, her hair falling softly over her shoulder while her brown eyes (that were intimidating to most) softened slightly.

I wonder if he's thought about me since then? If I made an impression on his memory that he just can't forget? That he doesn't want to forget. Maybe that's just the lust talking. Even one look at his lips and I'm already imagining things.

Elijah took the half of the sandwich like it was some rare gift from the universe, inspecting it like he didn’t get food often—he did, he just liked to pretend life was full of little miracles. “You like gummy worms?” he repeated, as if the information was sacred. “Alright. That automatically makes you more trustworthy than most people I know.” He popped a gummy into his mouth and let it sit on his tongue like it was dissolving wisdom.

He leaned back a bit, resting his elbows on the sidewalk behind him, eyes drifting lazily to the skaters cutting across the concrete like they had somewhere to be, even if they didn’t. “Funny how life be doin’ that,” he said after a minute. “Tells you to follow your dreams, then throws bills, deadlines, and that one weird uncle at Thanksgiving who says, ‘So what are you doin’ with your life?’ like he's not three beers in with a mullet and a divorce.” He paused. "I'm assuming you mixed so you def got a mullet uncle."

He chuckled a little, quiet but genuine.

“I get it though… the whole ‘this has to work or I’m screwed’ vibe. Like, if you don’t pull off the perfect plan, the world’s just gonna forget you existed. But I dunno.” He paused, gaze flicking over to her. “You ever think maybe the world don’t need you to have a plan? Like… maybe existing loud enough is enough. You wanna open a shop? That’s dope. That’s real. But like—maybe the universe is just waitin’ for you to take one weird lil step… not all of ‘em at once, y’know?” He picked at a loose thread on his sleeve before quietly adding, “And for what it’s worth… I think bein’ something is still better than bein’ nothin’. Even if it’s a mess.”

Then, as if catching himself being way too open again, he glanced at her sandwich.

“This is mad good by the way. What is this? Bagel sorcery?”

His antics made Genesis giggle as he took the sandwich. "I don't know if I should be happy or not, you've got interesting standards for trust." She smirked before taking a gummy as well and tossing it in her mouth. She sucked on it for a little while till all the sour was gone before finally chewing it. She nodded along as he spoke dusting her hand off on her pants, "Yah, and actually nope, but I do have one with a jerry curl. I'm mixed, but it with mixed parents who are both at least half black if not more." She sighed, "Which means I have more then just an uncle asking that question." Or rather she used to. Her parents don't ask her much anymore and especially not any extended family.

"Existing loud enough?" she repeated curiously. She'd never thought about that. The one time she just went with the flow she got addicted to a substance soooo she's trying to reel back on the just flowing through life. "I think I'd be ok if the world forgets about me, I just don't wanna disappoint the people here with me. Counting on me, supporting me. I don't want all their effort to be for nothing you know?" She knew she probably at this point wasn't going to be known for anything. Even if she winds up working with the government again, that'll be pretty top secret work. Her name isn't going down in history. But she hates disappointing her brother, she hates she's already disappointed her parents, and she hopes she'll never disappoint Shai. "One weird step huh? I think I'm one weird step from becoming infamous rather then famous." She giggled teasingly even though there was definitely a hint of truth to it.

She smiled slightly at his words wishing her parents felt the same way because she was certainly one step away from being a total mess. "I think the world would be more interesting if more people thought like you." She hummed.

She blinked as he switched the conversation so effortlessly to something so random but just smiled again before staring back out at the skaters. He was a weird one, but she liked it. "You should hang out with me and some of the others sometime. You remind me of Eliza." She grinned remembering her friend, "It's from the shop down the street. What they do in the back is their business." She chimed taking another bite.

Johari smiles politely and hugs Kalila back lightly patting her back. She leans down a bit to hug her, thinking for a second that maybe she shouldn't have worn heels.

"Kalila, it's nice to meet you too." She turns to Sebastian and gives him a friendly hug as well, falling into the motion a bit more naturally. It helped that the two had practically grown up together. She waves dismissively as she sits.

"Oh not at all. I like getting places early. Helps me catch up on my reading." She sits back down, draping her napkin over her lap and crossing her legs. "I went ahead and got some champagne for the table. My treat of course, I hope you don't mind."

She pours three glasses and takes a delicate sip. "So, you're a music major right? I swear sometimes I think I'm the only person on the campus without a musical bone in my body."

Johari wouldn't forgive herself if she didn't come just a little informed. It's a habit. Sometimes it backfired when she blurred the lines between how she talks to her sources for a piece and how she talks to everyone else. She would only mention the basics of course. Hobbies, work, interests.

Not everyone appreciated her seeming like she knows more than she should. But every now and then, she finds solace and reassurance in the ones who perk ever so slightly when they realized sometime took the time to get to learn a bit about them.

She hoped Kalila fell into the latter camp, or at least somewhere in the middle. She brushes the more anxious thoughts away as she tucks her a stand of bone straight black hair behind her ear. "What genre do you favor most? I'm quite partial to jazz myself. Seb, can attest to that."

Remi P. Michel

When he was in front of Maggie, he wasn't actually sure what he was expecting. He definitely wasn't expecting to receive an invitation to a kid's birthday party. It was strange, right? For her to go through all of this trouble to call him here to meet with her to give her an invitation to a kids birthday party for someone he didn't know. It had to be denial that kept him confused. It was almost like the confusion also kept him from hearing her words too.

He just stared at the invitation in his hand for a second. Or maybe a part of him did hear what she was saying and just knew if he acknowledged her, made eye contact, then it would make it real. He took a deep breath as he looked over to Amy and realized that this wasn't just about him. True or not, it also affected Amy. So whether Remi wanted to believe it or not...

"Mine?" he finally spoke up and took in a slow deep breath. He wanted to yell at her for not figuring it out sooner. For letting this happened when their only real issue was he would want kids at some point and she didn't. This could have made things different? Or maybe she would have just done the same thing she did with her other possible baby dady.

He took a deep breath and squeezed Amy's hand tightly,"What...I'll come..um if Amy will come. But we should all have a long talk soon...somewhere more appropriate."

He wasn't sure what he was feeling, but no matter what, he wouldn't blame the child.

Sebastian eased into his seat, body relaxed but eyes sharp, taking in the familiar vibe of the restaurant. The warm lighting, the soft clink of glasses—it should’ve been routine. But tonight wasn’t. Not with Jo already there. Not with Kalila sitting beside him, looking like sin wrapped in navy blue. He accepted Jo’s hug, returning it with the kind of ease that could only come from years of knowing each other. “Still tall,” he teased gently, his voice laced with that usual smooth calm, pulling back to glance down at her heels. “Still trying to win the height war.” Sliding into the booth beside Kalila, his hand found the small of her back without thinking—like gravity pulled it there. And when Jo offered champagne, he gave a quick nod of thanks… and immediately chugged half the glass.

“Appreciate it,” he said, setting it down with a soft clink. He felt Kalila glance over, probably catching the fact that he wasn’t sipping tonight. He ignored it—for now. He turned toward her, his arm brushing her side. “You know… I saw you get dressed. Rode here with you. Had your playlist on and everything…” He paused, giving her that slow, deliberate once-over. “…but now that we’re out here? In the lights? Damn. I might need to rethink this whole arriving-on-time thing.” His tone dropped slightly as he leaned in just a little closer. “You’re making it hard to focus, beautiful.”

He meant it, too. Her presence was like heat—controlled but impossible to ignore.

When Jo turned her attention to Kalila, polite and perfectly poised, Sebastian let the moment shift, leaning back slightly but never really disconnecting from Kalila. He nodded as Jo explained the early arrival. “Jo likes to call it ‘getting a read.’ She says it’s for books, but it’s really people she’s studying.” He smirked at Jo. “Still can’t turn off reporter mode, huh?” Then the jazz conversation started and he chuckled. “Kalila, I swear Jo’s got the soul of an old jazz club. Dim lighting, trumpet in the back, and somebody snapping in the corner.” He reached for the bottle and topped off his champagne before going on. “But don’t let her fool you—she once thought she could sing jazz.” He laughed, tilting his head toward Jo. “Let’s just say, she’s got range... but none of it’s musical.”

He sipped this time, a little slower.

“Jo’s got taste, though. Can’t carry a tune to save her life, but she knows what sounds right.” His eyes slid to Kalila, a softer note slipping into his voice. “But you? You make music feel like it’s telling secrets. That presentation today? Still stuck in my head.” He looked back to Jo, a small grin playing at his lips. “You always did like to know everything about everyone… still walking that fine line between charming and nosy.”

And then, with a glance at Kalila, his hand found her thigh beneath the table again, this time more intentional. Thumb tracing lazy circles. Voice dropping just enough. “If she likes you, that’s rare. If she loves you? You’ve got loyalty for life.” He nudged Kalila gently. “No pressure or anything.” He raised his glass once more, eyes flicking between the two women. “To old friends who know the chapters most people skip…” then locked eyes with Kalila, his tone just a little more flirtatious—“…and to new ones who walk in lookin’ like a melody I don’t deserve.” He clinked glasses with both of them, finished the rest of his champagne, and let out a quiet breath.

He leaned into Kalila’s side again, speaking low enough only she could hear:

“You good? His lips ghosted near her ear.

Elijah gave a slow, dramatic nod as he accepted the sandwich like it sealed some ancient pact.

"Yeahhh, see—if you suck all the sour off first, you’re built different," he said with faux seriousness, cracking a lopsided smile.
"And hey, I did say interesting, not necessarily good. Gotta keep people guessing." He chuckled when she brought up the jheri curl uncle. "Yo, that’s a strong image. Like he smell like cocoa butter and conspiracy theories," he teased, giving her a light shoulder bump. "Family’s wild though. They ask why you’re not somewhere 'successful,' then roast you for takin’ risks. Like damn, pick a struggle." When she started talking about not wanting to disappoint people, Elijah went quiet for a second. His easygoing expression softened, and his eyes stayed on the pavement like he was sorting through thoughts that didn’t usually make it out. "Yeah... that’s a heavy weight to carry," he said quietly. "Feelin’ like you gotta be worth the love people give you. Like it’s a loan instead of a gift." He turned toward her just a bit, voice gentler. "But you ever think maybe they’re rootin’ for you because you’re you—not ‘cause they expect you to be some untouchable superhuman version of yourself?"

Her line about being one weird step away from infamy made him grin. "Infamy kinda sounds like my brand though. Like, mildly chaotic but in a charming way," he said, a playful glint in his eyes.
"You’d make a good partner in crime. We'd go viral… get banned from a few spots… maybe get matching mugshots. Artsy ones though. Black and white, chin tilted up, dramatic lighting."

He fished a pretend lotto ticket out of his hoodie pocket and held it up.

"Here’s to one weird step, huh?" When she said the world would be better with more people like him, he snorted.

"Nah, the world’d be in flames if everybody thought like me. There’d be poetry in textbooks, deadlines would be optional… chaos, but like, chill chaos." His smirk faded into something warmer. "But thanks, G. That was… real nice of you to say." He took a slow hit from his vape, leaned back on his hands, and blew the smoke out in a tight ring. He nudged it with a finger, letting it swirl and break apart like mist. Then he did a lazy spiral next, watching it float before pretending to chase it like a kid. "That one was for your imaginary lotto win," he murmured with a sideways smile. "May your shop have a neon sign… and at least one raccoon you name after a washed-up celebrity."

At the mention of Eliza, his brows lifted with surprise and amusement.

"You know Eliza?" he grinned. "Man, that’s wild. She’s one of my favorite people. Got a head on her." He nodded at Genesis, studying her for a moment."Now you remind me of her too—that stubborn, secret-heart kinda vibe. Y’all got matching soul jackets or somethin’." When she invited him to hang out sometime, he nodded without hesitation. "I’m down to kick it," he said easily, slipping the vape back into his pocket. "Long as nobody expects me to sing unless they want an off-key rendition of 'Tennessee Whiskey.' That song hits—but I do not hit those notes." He took another bite of the sandwich, chewing thoughtfully.

"Yup. There’s definitely something illegal happening back there," he said after swallowing. "Taste too good to be above board."
He glanced over with a half-laugh. "Don’t matter though. Sandwich hit like a nap you didn’t know you needed."

The moment stretched comfortably before he added, quieter this time,

"It’s cool... hangin’ with someone who gets it. You ever wanna just vibe in silence or scream into the void, I’m usually around." He paused. "Just don’t ask me to share the last red gummy worm. That’s my ride or die."

Both Women were genuinely surprised by his demeanor and reaction.

Maggie quickly wiped her tears away before he could make eye contact with her...assuming he was ever going to make eye contact with her. She knew she had no right to cry between the three of them, but she did genuinely feel bad for everything and she needed them to know that. This wasn't some plot or scheme to try and 'get him back'. As much as she loved Remi and always will love him, she's not that kinda girl. She was happy for him being happy. It was tearing her apart inside knowing that she was now jeopardizing that happiness. "Ok... That's more than fair. I just. I just needed you to know first."

She couldn't risk 'waiting for the right moment' and then it never happening. Then again was there even a 'right moment' for news like this? Probably not. Though she could agree this wasn't the setting for such a serious conversation. However now they knew so however long they took to come to a decision would be fine with her. Preferably not too long because you know...single mom life is not the business even if it may be what she deserves. However she knew it wouldn't come to that. She knew Remi always wanted a kid and a family, and while this is not HOW he wanted it, she knew he wouldn't turn his back on the kid. He was too good of a man for that.

"I um... I should get going. Stassi is waiting for me." She hummed remembering she rode up here with someone. It'd be nice to vent to her later and tell her how everything went down. "I'll see you guys around." She waved a bit sheepishly before turning to walk away into the night.

_____________________________

Amy listened still to everything from Maggie and Remi. She still wasn't sure where her emotions were going to land. She wanted to be furious with Maggie like she usually was...but something told her that this truly wasn't done out of spike and as much as she hates to admit it cause potentially a part of her still dislikes and is jealous of Maggie...she's not the worst person in the world. She's not evil, just recklessly dumb. She knew she was angry, but she couldn't pin point where to direct it. IT's not the kids fault, and it's not even like it's Remi's fault. Well other then he should've used protection...but even then. He was single. He had every right to do whatever the hell he wanted. Maybe she was pissed off at herself because why did things always have to be so hard?

Was this karma on her too? What did she do? She was confused because she didn't even remember hearing about them dating again! Then again she didn't ask. She didn't wanna ask questions she didn't want to hear the answer to. Still she'd heard about Liv even when she didn't want to, so how did Maggie slip through the cracks? There were so many questions, and so many of them she didn't want to ask.

She glanced at the invitation and sighed, "We should go..." She whispered. It was the right thing to do after all. They could figure out in the meantime how true things are, but if everything was said was true, then Remi needed an entry point in this kids life, and now, so did she. Who knew the first kids they'd raise wouldn't be their own. She looked back up at him gently squeezed his hand, and kissed his cheek softly before whispering in his ear, "It's gonna be alright, we're in this together." She pulled back slowly with a small smile. They'd get through this. They had too.

"Now." She cleared her throat a bit to try and shake off her emotions for the time being. she gently placed her hands on his cheeks, "You've got a bus to get on and a team waiting for you. They are gonna wanna party hard. You guys did amazing tonight, so let's put a pin in this, and I want you to celebrate tonight, ok? Cause you've earned it!" She offered up a wider smile and kissed him on the lips, "I love you. Always and forever."

Kalila Emerson

As everyone sat down Jo had stated that she ordered champagne for the table. Kalila slid the glass closer to her as she did want to finish talking before taking a sip. "Thank you for being considerate. Definitely don't mind at all" Kalila flash a gentle smile, trying not to react as she could feel Sebastians hand on the small of her back. His presence alone was intoxicating to be around as it was.

Kalila spotted his gulping down the champagne. She wondered if it was nerves? She wouldn't ask him about it now,but later she wouldn't let him dodge the question.

When Sebastian was breathing in her ear about being ontime and how she was beautiful her face started to burn. Her slim fingers then picked up the glass to place it against her lips. The bright and refreshing liquid going down her throat with ease. Kalila thought if he knew what he was doing to her? He had to have known. "It seems that I'm making a lot of things hard for you handsome" she teased back in a soft tone before Jo started asking Kalila questions about her study in music.

Kalila laughed and shook her head. "Hey as long as you have rhythm that's all you need, but yes I'm a music major. I've loved music since I can remember and luckily it's stuck with me ever since."

Jazz seemed to fit Jo just like the air that a person breathes. The beautiful woman sitting across from her embodied just that. "Well no matter I think it suites you. Jazz music with everything included so..jazz,blues, and soul- all it tells me about you is that you're extroverted, have high self-esteem, extremely intelligent, creative, and as calm as silk. Am I on the right track?" Kalila raised an eyebrow while Sebastian complemented her presentation. In order for her to distract her beating heart she went onto answer the other question that was asked. "I do love classical music. It does help that I have perfect pitch so it's right up my alley. Piano and violin are my main sources of comfort in an instrument, but I have tried multiple others. Striving to be a composer and a teacher does have its limits I will say. Not everybody can be good at trumpet" Kalila laughed.

When Sebastian said his toast to both of the woman Kalila couldn't help, but stare at his features. Nor could she help the soft smile plastered on her face before nudging his side teasingly before bringing the tops of the glasses to clunk together and sipping the delicious champagne.

"A journalist you said earlier? What kind of excerpts do you do? I know sometimes it could be a competitive industry" Kalila asked while placing her glass neatly down on the table, her posture never wavering, but there was a slight burning sensation where Sebastians hand was on her thigh.

It seemed like things were going well. At least that what Kalila hoped everyone was thinking as well.

Once it was time for their break, Tobi and Nyla were more than ready and willing to invite her along for food. "I'm glad y'all brought it up. Watching you work was working up my appetite." She chuckled. Yeah, that's it. If anything seemed off with her, she'd just blame it on being hungry... Annie wasn't really the clingy type, but she hadn't been the jealous type neither until she felt... "Threatened" felt like a strong word. After-all, the only thing probably in danger was her feelings. She pushed the thoughts from her mind and went to walk with Tobi to the anteroom where they were keeping the food, subconsciously clutching his arm.

The scent of familiar and foreign spices filled her nose and instantly made her mouth water. Perhaps she was hungrier than she expected. Some foods she recognized from going out with Tobi and even attempting to cook for him, so once she grabbed a plate, she started scooping at those first. "So," she started, still staring down at the food, "how are you two feeling about all the publicity?" She figured she was the only one in her head about it in the worst way. They had to be enjoying themselves; it was probably all fun and dandy with all the looks, attention, and money. --Not that she was hating on the money part; that kind of benefited her too. Honestly, it was probably only the "looks" that she hated. She cleared her throat, more to evaporate her thoughts again than anything. "Yeah, I know you're probably eating it up."

CORY CARTER
Campus lock ins weren’t exactly Cori Carter’s scene. Normally, she’d be holed up in a practice room somewhere, lost in a melody or trying to finish a track that kept pulling her out of bed at 2 a.m. But tonight? Tonight was a favor. One of her friends from an art class, this soft spoken printmaking major who happened to be dating one of the basketball players, had offered to design an album cover for her. For free. On one condition: that Cori tag along to the lock in festival.

Now, anyone who knew Cori knew that if there was one way to get her to do something she normally wouldn’t, it was to make it about her music and make it cheap. And sure, technically, she didn’t have an album. Yet. But that didn’t matter, every friend who’d sat in on her late night demo sessions or watched her take the mic at an open mic knew it wasn’t a matter of if, just when. She had the voice. The vision. The fire. What she didn’t have? The money. So she had to get creative.

That’s how she ended up here, wandering the perimeter of the schools stadium, surrounded by a blur of tents, fairy lights, and the overwhelming echo of sport adjacent chaos that made her ears twitch. She wasn’t even sure where her friend had gone, probably off sketching a caricature of someone dressed like a sexy scarecrow, but the shrill sound of laughter drifting through a cracked fire exit caught her attention. It wasn’t the sound of over caffeinated student org leaders... It was mellow, genuine, and a little hazy.

Cori followed it, curiosity piqued. Outside, tucked behind the building like some kind of secret, was a loosely gathered circle of students passing a joint between them, laughter spilling out into the crisp air like smoke. She paused in the doorway, one brow raised, arms crossing over her chest with practiced flair. “So this is where the fun is at, huh?” she said, voice rich with amusement.

They looked up at her, a few startled, most too baked to care. She didn’t wait for an invitation. “Sooo, can I join in on this or what?” Without missing a beat, she stepped into the circle and dropped down beside a guy whose buzzed hair caught the glow of the nearby lamplight. He was dressed in loose, comfortable layers that made him look like he’d just rolled out of bed and made it fashion. The kind of guy people might overlook unless they were really paying attention. Cori noticed him immediately.

She flashed him a grin, the corners of her mouth pulling up with something teasing but warm. “Cori. Cori Carter.” She extended her hand toward him, her rings glinting slightly as she tilted her head. “You are?”

GM POST (this just explains the entire event)

The moment you stepped into Brinson Arena, you could feel it—the bass from the speakers thumping in your chest, the smell of hot grease and sugar from the funnel cake stand hitting your nose, and the sound of a hundred voices laughing, shouting, and singing along to the DJ’s mix. This wasn’t just any event; it was the annual HBCU Lock-In, where the whole campus came alive under one roof.

Over by the entrance, a group of freshmen huddled together, wide-eyed and grinning as they took it all in. "Aye, y’all see the Omega booth?" one of them said, nudging his friend. "They got the *real* Que Dogs this year—none of that microwave stuff." Nearby, a line stretched in front of the Delta Sigma Theta booth, where sisters in crimson and cream handed out cupcakes with tiny "∆ΣΘ" toppers, teasing a probate show coming soon.

At the center of the floor, a heated game of knockout had broken out, with trash talk flying almost as fast as the basketballs. "You shoot like my *grandmama!*" someone yelled, only to get immediately swished on in return. The crowd around them erupted, half cheering, half howling with laughter. Meanwhile, near the bleachers, a couple swayed to the slow jam the DJ threw on, pretending they weren’t being obvious—until their friends started fake coughing and side-eyeing them.

By midnight, the energy hadn’t dipped at all. If anything, it got louder. Someone started a step battle near the concession stands, and before long, a circle formed, phones flashing as folks recorded the show. Even the security guard, Ms. Brenda—who usually had a *don’t-test-me* look—was bobbing her head, arms crossed but smiling.

This was more than just a lock-in. It was family. It was home. And as the lights finally came on at 2 AM, no one wanted to leave. "Same time next year?" someone shouted, and the tired but hyped crowd roared back, *"Bet!"*

Majid Al Khalifa

Majid couldn't quite put his finger on it, but he knew there was something about Honey that just made him...happy. When he sang that song to her when they first met, it felt like he hadn't just been singing it for her, but he had also written for her. He didn't write that song for anyone specific, yet he always felt he had written it for someone. It was clear to him that the 'Something about you' words for her.

He smiled as they went into the theater together and she let him know that it wasn't anyway she was going to let him say no to candy, but in general Majid tried to avoid candy. He was never sure about the content and they often used pig byproducts which he couldn't consume. So he just tended to avoid them altogether unless he knew the brand and its exact ingredients. Living this way his whole life, though, had developed him into someone who just didn't really eat candy anyways. He was good at social cues though and knew he'd have to get something so he relented and decided on a Crunch bar which he was 100% sure used cow gelatin instead of pig. He could only chuckle when she confessed to her preferred candy choice and just shook his head,"No it's fine, I won't judge you."

Technically, they had assigned seats, but seeing as they were the only ones there, he let her choose where she wanted to sit and then made sure to get comfortable. He grabbed his phone to scan the qr code and order on his phone, listening to her intently. He could only chuckle before smiling,"Yeah seems like it's just us. Probably because I rented it out to make sure it was just us. So we can have some time together and talk. Movies usually suck as dates because you can't talk, but since no one is here....anyways." He held his phone out to her so she could see the menu,"Is there anything you want to order now so it can be here before we get way too invested in the movie?"

Jett

Lisa would be lying if she said she had an understanding of soccer. Everything she knew about it was from watching the anime Blue Lock. She was here to support her boyfriend and nothing else, so she didn't need to know every rule and strategy. She did know the important things like losing the ball was bad. Taking the ball was good. The other team scoring a goal was bad, but them scoring a goal was good. Anything else in between, she'd look around to other dubois students or family who had their colors, and react based off them.

That is what she did most of the game. She figured she was pretty much 90% correct with her cheering, but as the game wore on she could see the players getting more tired. It was also getting a bit chilly which was the most annoying part of it all. Still, she cheered on until the last play where she saw Jett with the ball. She stood up yelling,"Go Jett!" as he took off with the ball and eventually scoring the game-winning goal. Lisa clapped happily before turning to people and yelling "that's my boyfriend." she sort of blinked a few times, before sighing as she rubbed the back of her head, embarrassed. She couldn't believe she just did that. Still, it didn't matter. She showed up for her boyfriend...and she did good, right?

She moved down the stands and on to the field to try and run to him. Unlike the bigger sports, there was less security about so it wasn't a hard time outside of weaving through the crowds of people. When she got to Jett she threw her arms around her neck, and kissed his lips gently,"You done did good Wu. You done did good."

"I think remembering your name is a good thing..I'd hope." he took a slow breath before chuckling. He had moved to sweep a but before turning his attention to her when she questioned him about places to work. Essy chuckled, wiping his hands on his khaki zoo vest as he leaned against the railing of the sloth enclosure.

"Honestly, Nilan? I couldn’t not work here. You know how some people have that one thing that just... clicks? Like, the second they step into a place, they just get it? That’s how I felt the first time I visited this zoo. Saw a keeper feeding the gibbons, explaining how they communicate—and I was done. Hooked." He gestured at the sloth slowly stretching overhead. "I mean, look at her. Most folks walk by and just see a sleepy ball of fur, but there’s so much more happening. The way she grips branches like she’s part of the tree, how her metabolism’s basically set to ‘chill mode’—it’s all adaptation, survival. And I get to help people see that? To watch a kid’s face go from ‘meh’ to ‘whoa’ when they realize nature’s not just pretty, it’s brilliant?" He shook his head, grinning. "Yeah. No office job’s ever giving me that feeling. Not flipping burgers none of that. Besides, those tend to be harmful to our environment, but this?! It conserves it."

He glanced at Nilan, suddenly a little self-conscious. "Cheesy, huh? But it’s true. This place—the animals, the people, even the smell of hay and lemur poop—it’s home. And I get to protect a little piece of the wild while I’m at it. Best job on earth while I'm still a college kid. Plus, it gets me out the house and away from my sister."

Nakahi chuckled at her mention of a dance tutor. "Let's just say things haven't gone as smooth as I thought they would. So, a dance tutor might actually be useful... As long as you wouldn't try to make me do all those sexy girl moves." He smirked playfully. He was open to most things, but, hey, a line had to be drawn somewhere. "...Well, unless you're into that, then I'll give you a private show." He returned the wink. Okay, maybe it was a thin line under the right circumstances.

Once she stepped closer, it now allowed him to see more of her details. She was definitely a pretty girl with very soft features and her body certainly reflected a dancer's physique. And so far, she didn't seem as fiery as the girls back home. Then again, they were used to him, so her attitude might change once they were more familiar. He hiked a brow when she spoke. "Sounds like I was in the right place at the right time. What's it you Americans say: "You rub my back, I'll rub yours"?" He let his bag down from his shoulder, sitting it against the wall. He straightened out his clothes before giving her his full attention, resting his hands on his hips. "Alright , how can I help?"

oney followed him inside the theater room, sitting in the sweet spot of the whole room. The middle in row G. She loved watching movies so it was fitting that she automatically headed towards that spot. Her spot..their spot.

As she sat down he revealed that he bought out the theater so they could be alone. Her eyes blinked fastly as she processed the words that rolled out of his mouth so effortlessly. "You can't say that and then give me your phone for food!" She laughed out while lightly hitting his arm before taking his his phone to peak at what they had. "If you wanted to impress me you've succeeded..do you usually do all this to woo somebody?" She asked him while debating what to get.

"Mm probably the chicken quesadilla. Might not be a date worthy meal to pick now that I say it outloud" she chuckled as her body sat back on the comfy seats. Honey leaned over and pressed her lips on his cheek before intertwining their fingers. This wasn't how she thought the night war going to go, but she was happy. Happy that it was with him.

Jett couldn't believe he made the winning score. His teammates all huddled around him in excitement and all gave him tight hugs and head rubs like siblings usually do. Jett on the only hand could feel his body was growing heavy by the second. He knew if they went into overtime they might've lost. There wasn't too much more he could've done.

After giving the sportman-like high fives to the other team all the fans seemed to have come down from the bleachers. Jett couldn't mistake Lisa for anyone else, her curly hair being hard for her to hide. He immediately wrapped his arms around her tightly, kissing her in-between her words."For you. I did good for you.." he laughed joyfully. "You're really here! You.. came..I thought.. but your sisters event..I wasn't expecting to see you" she would be able to see the relief in his eyes as the tears that were burning this whole time finally came down. The three words that he doesn't like to say were brewing up in his throat, but he didn't dare say them. He didn't want to scare her off like before.

His hands traveled up to either side of her face as he kissed her deeply. While the crowd was cheering around them.

I think I..I love you..

"Here we go.."

Seeing the spark in Essy's eyes ignited something within her. She kept quiet and didn't interrupt. She didn't have a look of confusion or pity. It was nice- refreshing even, to know that someone can be as passionate about something like she is to her own career. Anyone can have their opinions about what job they end up doing and how much you make, but she knew it was the journey to climb the ladder that really mattered.

Nilan shook her head slightly as he said it was cheesy. "No..not cheesy per se" she laughed briefly. "I think as long as you have that fire in you that you can do anything you want" Nilan shrugged softly. "I think that quality is attractive..among other things" she admits to him.

"You know, you never asked for my number that night." She said as she was closing the distance between them while the conversation was continuing. "Is that not something you want?" Her eyes were shiny and dark as the image of him reflected in them.

"Yeah, i hear ya. Bye."
Sora just got off the phone call with his boss. He was reluctant to take a short week-long job at the next state over, but he knew it would be good for his promotion. It was very competitive over in the department he was in and he hoped that with all the diligent work he had been doing the promotion would come soon.

He has been present in his relationship with Sulan. He was finally able to express himself and she accepted him. It's no walk in the park, but he wouldn't have it any other way.

Sora did tell her about him leaving and he made it a note to share his location with her so she wouldn't worry as much. At least he hoped. He made sure that he would come over tonight and they could relax in, she could sleep, and then he would leave at night to drive.

'I'll see you in a bit bunny'
he texted her as he was headed her way with flowers and a hoodie that he would give her for the time he'd be gone. He hoped she didn't think he was leaving her for good. He did understand if she might have some ptsd from his actions, but he'd do everything to reassure her this time. He won't make that mistake again.

Dominic had to go to the lock-in. He didn't want to. Well part of him wanted to sleep since he felt like he was being spread too thin, but he had an obligation to his teammates. He only had a drink as he watched the craziness happening with the step battle. He wasn't expecting it to be this big. He wasn't expecting a lot of things.

It wasn't too long before he wanted to grab something he left in his bag. Now that he was walking towards the storage room he couldn't remember what it was. Befote turning around empty handed he spotted a shorty with curves and long hair. Of course he didn't know who it was looking just at her back, but he didn't care. He spoke up with a low, flirtatious voice. "Do you need something?" He asked her.

When she turned around he didn't act surprised. It was the cheerleader Jada. "Well if it isn't a lil' lamb. What are you doing back here without the crowd, hm?" He said looking at her glowy skin and piercing eyes.

"A double date at a lock-in for what?" Benicio asked confused. He didn't want to go to the event and he definitely didn't want to go on a date. His friend was begging him to be a perfect wingman and suck it up. In the end Beni is a good friend so he agreed on the terms that he never has to do this again.

"It'll be fine Beni. Her friend is not bad. She's nice"

Benicio rolled his eyes, "simplesmente legal,hm?" He got ready like he normally did and even took a few gulps of vodka to get the party started early.

His friend walked him to where he said the girls were, but the music was blasting and vibrating in his ears. He didn't know why his line of view spotted a beautiful girl first before he could do anything else. He almost hoped that the date would be her. As the friend walked closer he was pleased that his eyes didn't deceive him. "olá linda, como você está? I'm Benicio, but you can call me Beni" he smiled. Maybe it would be a fun night?
