The Heart of Acheron

Acheron, a world in turmoil. Darkness runs rampant, assassination, murder, genocide... slavery. Anything that is evil is flourishing and never before has the light seemed so distant. This is the Age of Myths. The age where the great beasts still roam the lands, where the Heroes of ancient lore live and thrive. Where kingdoms and empires rise and fall. The wars of this world, are darker, more cruel and much more bloody than those in the Age of Reason. No one is safe, no rank, no nation can stand between the cold grip of death and your fate. Be warned traveller that dark forces are at work here, as powerful as the Gods themselves, be wary and be wise, use your allies and your foes alike to survive. If you fail in your tasks it is the end. Good luck

Deep in the depths of the Akuma Hinterlands. A region in the center of the Ocean separating the continents in the East from Styx in the West. The Hinterlands are a dark land, long corrupted by the ancient magic there. Only darkness is contained within these lands. As an island the nations of the other continents had no reason to fear... until recently, the darkness seems to be intervening in the affairs of the world. Inciting the tensions between Akazuna and the Kuro Sabuku Tribes, leading to their war. Then comes the wars between Arajin and Sondheim, finally the wars between the Merchant Cities in the southwest of Albion. They have torn the Elven Dominion apart shattering the Trans-Race Alliance of Elven Kind and bringing the entirety of the continent of Aurora in a bloody civil war based on race. Thousands have perished and millions could be next if the eleven races can't settle this dispute, this war could destroy all of Aurora and threatens the world. The nations of Trinity are waging a great war against one another. Exteris and Illium are currently embroiled in a bloody war that saw the Illian city of Troas be sabotaged and fall out of the sky killing all forty thousand inhabitants. War threatens to spread to Argos who has as of yet remained neutral but not for much longer as her people are divided as who to side with. The mountains clans of Exteris or the Proud people of Illium? The choice is difficult but will shape their continent for the future to come. This is the Darkness... the darkness that consumes all and purveys evil throughout Acheron. Beware dear traveler... time is running thin.

Inara looked out over the city walls. The smoke on the horizon could only mean one thing... the Kuro Sabuku tribes were coming again. This would be another siege, another victory for Akazuna and a hopefully the last necessary to win this awful war that had raged for over a decade, and had required the presence of the Princess in order to rally the people and stabilize the situation. Empire of Okinoyama, had sent her, one of their own Princesses to contain the situation in the North because they had already suffered the losses of the Trade Cities of Shirusa and Seisa. Their populations slaughtered or sold into slavery. Why? Because the Imperials from Okinoyama had no right to claim these lands and build cities here. These lands, north of the Rho Mountains where the Great Black Desert named Kuro Sabuku consumed everything. Here the Tribesmen, The Inari, The Ryushi, The Saji, and the Tencho were aligned against the Okinoyamans that were left in Akazuna.

The Princess looked to the man standing next to her, he was older, plenty of battle scares and was the Captain of the Garrison, Commander Iroh, "Commander, prepare for another siege, bring the commoners in from outside the walls, prep the inner city farms for a long one. Send the fleet out of the harbor and to the south. Tell them to wait for the signal before returning with our reinforcements." She said. He saluted her and departed to carry out her orders. Even though there were three Generals, an Admiral and a Ryoji (Governor), Inara as an Imperial Princess outranked them on Civil and Military matters, making her the effective commander of the army stationed in Akazuna. The horizon was darkened by black smoke. Possibly from a village that once stood or maybe a supply caravan destined for Akazuna. Either way it meant the Tribesmen were coming closer to the city and they only did that in preparation for a siege... they were always predictable.

Larentia squinted her eyes open, looking around, vision blurred. She tried to take a deep breath in, soon coughing it back out, followed swiftly by what seemed to be water. Horrible, disgusting, salty water. As soon as she finished coughing up the water, she breathed in deeper than she ever had before, having been seperated from oxygen for much too long. Her hand scratched at the sand, leaving some large gauges as she tried to get up off the ground, small waves stroking up her legs as she did so.

She crawled over to a large rock dug into the ground, and used that to help her stand up. Looking around, Larantia's blurred vision didn't tell her much. She looked back out to the sea, and saw a small smudge. After rubbing at her eyes, it came into view as the badly damaged ship that she'd arrived on, heading towards the port of Akazuna.

She scrabbled around the beach before finally starting her journey to Akazuna. It wasn't her planned destination but it was better than laying at the bottom of the sea.

Larentia walked down the beach, with a small limp, her black, golden rimmed hood covering the entirety of her face, a cloak of the same colour, with a golden tree like symbol on her back wrapped around her body. Buckle was safely tucked away inside of her bag, in a state of hibernation so he wouldn't make too many noises, as the little bugger didn't shut up when he was awake.

Making her way further down the beach, she soon came upon the port, the ship she was travelling on just about making it's way in alive. Soaking wet, cold, and hurt, Larentia made her way to the dock that her ship was aiming for.

She limped down the dock, falling to her knees as she waited for the ship to arrive. She was being eyed by some of the guards as she waited there, her face looking vacant, as if she was zoned out.
