Fantasy The Guild Stone ((Old Questing Thread))

Pri
Location: Forest of Stagnant Mists
The landscape that stretched out before her was a shifting sea of dark leaves and clinging fog. From up high she could see it stretch until the base of the sloping mountain, where it tapered into rock and stone and the mists grew more peculiar in shape. It was a good while away, and the guidmaster's wings beat the air in consideration.

Alas, movement caught her attention and her gaze swivelled down to see the yellow crackle of energy following the speedy gold-rank's arrival. He was the first of the group that had formed, landing just outside the thicker parts of the forest. Doubling back, Pri circled above his position before swooping in to settle on a scraggly branch. Behind her the forest faded into a ominous, clinging mixture of dark shapes and pale mist. To the observant eye, indistinct forms peered out from within, watching the adventurers arrive with echoing sighs.

"Mhm mhm, so there are three so far." Pri's dark gaze settled over the top of Zeno's head, where the sea song bard hurried a short distance away and the stout cleric had just appeared. "We shall wait for the others to join here."

Taking off in a wingbeat of air and stirring mist, Pri returned to the dim skies above the forest outskirts. The sun seemed faded through the atmosphere, dulled by energy that seeped through from some unknown source. Circling lazily above the group Pri considered the shapes below that were forming from the mists to observe the adventurers.

Ymir
Location: Guild Hall
Ymir had her cheek propped against her palm, still facing away from the counter as she observed the sky through the hole in the roof. She liked it being there. The guild should make it a permanent fixture for those of them who weren't fond of doorways as an exit.

"Sorry for the delay Ymir." Her gaze flickered over at the sound of her name, quiet as Titus settled back into the seat beside her. She could feel the spirits whisper of pleasant memories. "Do you have any more questions for me?"

"Mhm." Ymir blinked, gaze shifting as she observed the lingering adventurers begin to thin. There was one thing that still occurred to her. "I suppose--what happens once you become an archon?" He would have different duties no doubt. An obligation to give his all to the church, not just the occasional weekend between quests. Perhaps the adventurer's guild would become little but an afterthought.

"Would you mind if I asked a few questions about yourself since I don't know you as well as I should?" His follow up to the answer caught her more off guard than anything. She glanced over, finding him looking straight at her as she picked up her glass. Gaze diverting elsewhere as she gave a non-committal shrug.

"...sure. Not really much to know." The drink tipped as she gestured vaguely. "I'm just a little mountain girl who chose adventure over home and ended up here in the guild." Not very exciting. Perhaps a good, devoted daughter would have stayed--been loyal to family--proud of the village. But she was selfish above all else. "I guess some stuff has happened since then, but ask away."

Risoria Ducci De Columba
"Oh dear! Young Regil!" Ducci exclaimed upon noticing his companion had been downed, before rushing over to assess his wounds. "Ah, something like this was unavoidable when tackling such a large and deadly opponent. But without the courage you showed in getting so close to it, we may not have come out on top. Let's get you back on your feet and somewhere safe!" He looked in Regil's eyes and then down to where he was nursing a wound. It appeared to only be blunt impact damage, which would only require an average amount of energy to heal. Ducci reached out with his large clawed hand, and placed his palm against Regil's core. Soothing, warm energy would start to fill the boy's chest, as tendrils of divine power sought out the damage and numbed the pain while accelerating the healing process. There would likely still be bruising, and some rest would help restore his energy, but according to his calculations, Regil would now be back to his full fighting capabilities. "There you are. We couldn't hope to finish our quest without our trusted scout, could we?" He stood up to his full height again and suddenly took on a more serious expression, hearing some faint commotion from behind them.

Something was stirring in the body of that fallen Cyclops, an inky black bubbling substance could be seen rising from the center of his back. After a moment, the material began to solidify and take the shape of a large black wolf, standing at least as tall as a grown man. The beast was coated in patches of messy black fur, covered in decaying scar tissue and even with parts of it's skeleton exposed. The wolf hopped off of Keel's corpse and began to nudge it with it's snout, before letting out a mournful howl which echoed throughout the chamber. As the sound grew louder, numerous other puddles of dark ichor began sprouting up around the body, as a total of 9 large wolves were summoned and joined in the chorus, before quickly turning their attention to the party, snarling aggressively. Barking and foaming at the mouth, the hounds split into two groups, targeting both Ducci and Leolin. "Good heavens! Away beasts!" Ducci exclaimed as they focused in on him, but he was able to draw his sword in time and fend them away from Regil who had only just been healed. "Must be.. some remnant of the Cyclops' magic! Curses!" He sliced into the wolves flesh a few times, although they did not bleed, nor did they seem to feel pain. He assumed a powerful holy strike would wipe them out, but Ducci knew the disadvantage the party would be at if he wasted his power on these, rather than their true targets. Four out of the pack tried to surround Leolin, snapping at his heels in an attempt to bait out an attack, so that the three other wolves would be able to strike all at once from his blind spot. Amidst the chaos, an attentive ear may be able to catch a terrible voice calling out from the westernmost corridor, where Keel intended to seek out his brother Byle before being cut down. "Keel? What you got the dogs out for aye? Are you mad?" The voice gave a low chuckle, and while curious, the Cyclops' tone remained relaxed and prodding, rather than truly concerned.

Zef The Owl Zef The Owl Tapfic Tapfic

Elsewhere, Apple and Pipi travelled through the eastern corridor, but there was something different now. That orange glow was nowhere to be seen, as the bonfire shared by Keel and Des had since been put out, leaving the chamber behind the iron door in pitch blackness. The massive door was ajar from the scouts' previous excursion, so it was no issue for Apple to pass through it into the dark chamber. Only a few moments of exploration would pass until she heard the cacophony of concerning sounds, including shouts of panic from Ducci and the howls and growls of some sort of wild beasts. But before the girl could decide whether to remain or to leave the chamber, that iron door slammed shut with a resounding boom, sending forth a blast of air that blew Apple's hair back. The room was still, and if Apple would attempt to sense movement, she may think she noticed a massive, thin and looming shadow in one of the corners, but she just couldn't be certain. Whether or not this induced fear was yet to be seen, but it may incur the thought that if she revealed herself in this darkness, the glare of any lurking Cyclops' could prove fatal.

"Keel? What you got the dogs out for aye? Are you mad?"
Byle? That chuckle sounded like the one that was called Byle. At least he didn't seem to know Keel was actually Keel-ed as of yet.
No time for leolin to laugh at his internal monologue pun right now though. It was business time.

Dogs. Leolin hissed to himself as the beasts surrounded him, waiting for an opening to strike. He was familiar with the hunting tactics of a wolf pack. Not a magic zombie cyclops wolf pack- but he imagined they where similar.

" At least you guys don't bleed, " he commented light heartedly; shifting into his full-lion form. The wolves where larger than what was natural, but now so was Leolin.
It would be a relatively even playing field, if he weren't surrounded by three more beasts- he really had to do something about that.
Taking care to steer clear of Regil's direction, Leolin would strike out at one of the wolves- but not with the intent to kill. He aimed behind the beast, looking to break through the circle. Hopefully they weren't too much faster than a natural wolf.

His eye would dart around the room, searching for his target- the still smoking lines of melted stone running down the staircase. If he could get the zombie wolves close enough to knock them in- well if nothing else, that aught to do a lotta damage.

" Sir Ducci! " Leolin would call, only loud enough for the other to hear, motioning towards the puddle of acid and hoping the other understood his plan. He would have explained it out loud but- what if magic wolves know common? Leolin decided not to risk it.

The wolf naturally ducked out the way of Leolin's pounce, but the other members of the pack couldn't reach the lion for a counterattack, as he found himself out of their immediate vicinity. They were quick to give chase however, attempting to bite and tear into their target with a hatred and ferocity unlike that of a wolf in nature. Hearing the alert from Leolin, Ducci wrenched his blade from the side of an attacking wolf and turned to Regil. It was a good idea to retreat somewhere where they could fight on their own terms, but he feared the wolves would focus on the injured boy while he was recovering, and not to mention Apple was nowhere to be seen. He hoped she could take care of herself for the time being, as this immediate danger had to come first before they attempted to reunite. "I hope you do not mind this, young Regil!" Ducci said before grabbing Regil firmly by the arm and lifting him onto his shoulder, where he would be safe from the snapping wolves, and free to jump down once he had his wits about him again. Slashing through the circle of wolves, Ducci dashed past and ran up the stairs along with Leolin, with the pack trailing not far behind. But despite his strength and power, he was not fast enough to fend off so many targets at once. The beasts jaws tore into his gambeson, ending up with mouths full of fluff and feathers, but occassionally drawing blood when they pierced deep enough to wound him. Upon reaching the damaged stairs, Ducci hopped across and stood at the top, striking at wolves as they got near, now being forced to approach in smaller numbers due to the obstacles present. At one point, the paladin plunged his blade into the back of a wolfs neck, and thrusted downwards, effectively crushing them into a large smoking crevice, where the pooled acid melted away at it's limbs, causing the summoned creature to dissipate into black ichor.

Apple

"P-"

Apple covered Pipi's mouth before she even finished a single word. It was pitch black, she understand this situation would unnerve the mandrake, and honestly she's too. She couldn't afford to show it though, mama told her to not falter, to not shows weakness to the prey. So she forced herself to steel her will and thinks this through even though she actually just wanted to cower in a corner and hope this would pass through.

She and Pipi were practically trapped in a dark room with a monster that could turn them into stone should it spotted them. She had no choice but to try manipulating the direction the cyclops was facing. She steadied her breath and carefully pulled a javelin from her bag. First she needs to know the exact position of everything, walls, obstacles, the cyclops itself. So she threw her javelin across the room, the moment the javelin hit the floor or wall it would combust and make a bright fire. She would use the provided light to scan the room and make sure she had some distance from the cyclops.

Rurnur Rurnur

As the javelin clattered against a far wall and ignited, the contents of the chamber became clearer to Apple. She spotted the entrance to another corridor at the far left corner of the room, as well as the still smoking bonfire in the center. Large chewed bones and dried meats were stacked on the right side of the chamber, and hungry black rats scurried about under the fires glow. Strangely, she was unable to spot whatever had trapped her in the room at first, but what was stranger was the movement of shadows produced by Apple's flames. The long black shapes produced by the light being blocked by debris and furniture began to twist, unnaturally changing their shapes, seeming to close in around the source of the fire as if they were living things. They drew closer and closer until they all formed the shape of a monstrously tall and cloaked one-eyed figure, who looked in Apple's direction with a terrible smile, before the palms of it's long-fingered pale hands enclosed around the flame, sending the room into pitch blackness once again. Whether it was truly happening or not, the lone girl would struggle not to imagine those elongated, bony but scarily powerful arms reaching out from the darkened corners of the chamber to collect her for their father's most special stew.

~I'm used to there being a 'Beware of Dogs- sign~

-------------------------------------------------

Regil grimaced as he was healed, thankful however that Ducci could heal him. He had never recieved healing magic before and the feeling of his injuries mending was unfamiliar to him. He caught his breathe, and looked up to see something unbelieveable.

Wolves, forming from pools of inky black. What foul magic where these Cyclops using? Also why did something that buff ALSO have magic? Did Regil piss off some god? Maybe he should stop invoking the godesses bossom, this may have been a sign she was self conscious.

His world spun again as he was tossed onto Ducci's shoulder and Leonin broke from the pack. Soon a heated chase up the stairs began. Thankfully, Regil had a previously mentioned item that could help.

The Ball Bearings.

While awkward on Ducci's shoulder he still managed to get his bag from his beltside. He then launched hundreds of the balls behind himself, Ducci and Leonin. They scattered and bounced along the stairs, making them one hell of a tripping hazard for the chasing wolves. It wouldnt stop them, that wasnt the point. It was to slow them down, spare Ducci and Leonin's hides the gnashing maws as they got to a more defensible position.

Given how most of the others had already left for the Forest of Stagnant Mists, Cinder rolled the map back up and put it away before making his way towards the door; exiting as his rods heated up in preparation for flight. With a sprint and a jump a large gust of wind blew the doors open once more, taking off at incredible speeds that would make even Titus jealous. Before too long he reached his home and slowed back down enough to land, finding his kids playing outside while his wife was finishing up some laundry watching over them. Upon seeing him return the kids came running and hugging him tightly, while his wife smiled as she walked over.
"I wasn't expecting you to return home so soon honey, did something happen?" She asked with a hint of concern in her voice, her smile fading to become more serious. Cinder smirked slightly before picking her up and like a knight picking up a princess, chuckling a bit as her face turned red from embarrassment.
"I accepted a Silver Ranked quest is all Elisabethe, but I needed to collect some stuff before leaving." Cinder briefly explained before setting her back down. "The quest is for killing Goblins in the Krilgox ruins, but Waystone travel to and from there is blocked by magic of some sort. Being that my old Cabin in the forest is the closest location that can be teleported to, I figured that I'd bring you and the kids with us; as we'd be able to take a short vacation immediately after the quest is completed. Aside from us, there'd be the rest of the group there too, as it might take a few days to gather more reliable information before entering the ruins." With more details explained, he knelt down to his kids and gave them all a hug back, before standing up straight and holding her hand as he walked inside. A smile grew on Elisabethe's face as she followed him inside, the two of them getting everything they needed ready for the trip.

After about 30 minutes of eerie silence at the Cabin, Cinder and his family appeared on the front porch overlooking the front yard; pristine grass freshly cut down to the fence. The presence of the monsters slowly grew more distant at his arrival, his hand grabbing hold of one of the rods as he walked off the porch and slowly levitated into the air. Like a flare to beacon his location a fiery pillar erupted into the air above him as he used his power to signal the others of his location, and as the flames came to a sputter he descended back down before looking at his old home.

Apple

Apple shivered when she saw the shadowy figure smiled. Ugly, though she also wonder why this one looks very different than the muscular one they just killed. She did alarmed by how the cyclops seems to melt into shadow though. A cyclops mage??

Apple tiptoed to the direction closest to the wall until she was able to touch it. She needs it to keep her directional orientation right so she would use the walls as landmark. Preparing a couple of javelins, she threw one to the other side of the room and immediately make it combust, then she threw the other one to the center, right at the extinguished bonfire. She drew her bow, intend of shooting the shadowy figure as soon as it emerge from the shadow.

Leolin
Leolin watched as Sir Ducci's blade struck one of the wolves into a puddle of sizzling stone. The creature melted back into the black goo it came from, and Leolin made a silent cheer.

Regil's bearings scattered down the staircase, providing another obstacle for the wolves to manage.

" Nice work!" Leolin said happily as he readied to pounce. His plan was simple; push as many into the acid as quickly as he could.
He would aim for the ones closest to a smouldering crevice, and furthest from the rest of their pack. Making sure to keep his back to Sir Ducci and Regil, rather than turn it to his foes. Any bites or claw marks he received; he ignored as best he could in favor of ending the fight as quickly as possible. A few burns from miscalculated leaps where nothing compared to the heat of the moment.

It was undeniable that the boy seemed to be enjoying this battle much more than the one that had come before it.

Ducci and Leolin were able to dispatch a number of attacking wolves from the top of the stairs, with the lion slashing relentlessly, sending his foes tumbling down into the melted ruins to be destroyed by acid. While Ducci utilized his size and strength to keep them at bay, taking the opportunity to hack them apart with his greatsword when they stumbled. Now with the majority of their pack gone, the wolves began to go on the defensive, the four remaining creatures started descending the staircase, fleeing towards the western corridor. "Ah, they're gone for now.. but did either of you see where Apple ran off to? We must reunite with her before more Cyclops discover us!" Ducci asked the two, while crouching down, allowing Regil to get back on his feet if he wished.

Back in the chamber where Apple had ended up, the room was beginning to fill with the glow of fire, especially from the reigniting bonfire. The Cyclops seemed to rise up on the fire side of the room at first, reaching out to grab the flames, but suddenly was pulled back as the light of the bonfire spread throughout the room. He once again melted into the darkness in the corner, disappearing from view until his arms reached across from the opposite corner, apparently having travelled from the other end of the room right next to Apple. However with her reflexes, she sent an arrow flying into it's neck. The Cyclops hissed and recoiled slightly, but did not appear to be truly damaged. "Hold still girl.. wouldn't want to have make you a statue.. not very tasty.." His voice was raspy and unusually high-pitched, as his hand reached out once again in an attempt to snatch her up. His eye was twitching and pulsing oddly, and Apple almost thought she saw something moving beneath the milky white substance.

Regil by now had caught his breathe, and was let down as the wolves were dispatched. He looked to Ducci and Leonin a moment, making sure there were no serious injuries. Unfortunately some of the wolves escaped, bad sign, they were probably going to find another cyclops. "N...No I didn't, I was a bit busy watching the world spin after I impacted that wall." He noted, well, for the future, don't expect Apple to stop if one of the teammates is down. She didn't seem much like a team player, as it were. He looked over to Leonin, "I'm sorry Leonin I know you're not a bloodhound but can you possibly get her scent? We need to move fast, those surviving wolves might get more help. From what I overheard there would be at least five Cyclops. Oh, and they're planning on cooking and eating the dwarves, possibly us now too." He noted breathelessly, back on his feet at least. He wasn't going to let himself take a hit that heavy again, it clearly only held the team down and he could not believe he was thinking like a team player.

Apple

Apple was startled when the cyclops suddenly appeared near her, in a reflex to keep the threat away from her she spat a fireball towards the cyclops' face while rolled away out of their reach. Now that she heard their voice, it wasn't something she expected to heard from a big creature.

"Are you... a kid?" She hesitantly asked while nocking her arrow and pointing it at the cyclops. Kid or not, if the cyclops turned their face towards her she would shoot them in the eye then explode all the arrows on their body.

Rurnur Rurnur

The Cyclops named Des was able to position it's hand so that he caught the fireball in his grasp, the light was instantly eclipsed but there was still the sound of sizzling flesh, as when he opened his palm it revealed a charred wound in the center. "Ouch.." He hissed and glared at the girl, his eye pulsating and taking on a red tint, with a strange clicking sound emerging from somewhere within it's skull. The Cyclops then vanished into the shadows once again, as Apple was met with only a disembodied voice. "Just cause I'm youngest.. don't make me a kid.. now be still.." She heard just before those huge arms came crashing down from the shadows behind her, attempting to swat her like a bug.

Apple

Apple almost sure she would be squashed right away at that time. So close and her reflex barely able to dodge the arms, but miraculously she was able to roll away before the arms reached her. When she looked back at the cyclops however she realized that she wasn't saved by luck but rather by her companion Pipi! The mandrake jumped from Apple's shoulder and clinged onto the cyclops' head, giving Apple a few more miliseconds to avoid the attack.

"Pipi! Pipi! Detach!" Fearing the worst would happen to her friend, Apple yelled as she watched Pipi struggled to keep herself balanced up there. Upon hearing Apple, the mandrake turned her head to make sure Apple was safe before detaching her head from her lower body. Pipi's head fell off from the cyclops and rolled away like a living onion while her lower body keep clinging to the cyclops' head recklessly. This was one of Pipi's self-defense technique, autotomy, just like a gecko, she discard her entire lower body to elude predator and get her real body, the head, to escape. The body would continue to do whatever it was last doing for a few minutes.

Apple breathed in relief as she watched Pipi rolled away and tucked herself under the pile of meat. She shifted her attention back to the cyclops and suddenly a thought occured in her mind. Can she explode it? Pipi's body? She never tried something like that before and aunt Pica said that her magic wouldn't work on sentient plant because their will would resist her magic, but Pipi's lower body by itself wasn't a living being. Yeah, maybe she should try, she didn't want to waste Pipi's sacrifice so pointed at it and commanded it to explode.

The plant body combusted and let out a green fire. Not even Apple was ready for it, because Pipi's lower body exploded into the biggest single explosion she ever made! Green fire engulfed the room and blasted everything away from the center of the explosion. Apple was thrown across the room and painfully hit the wall as the fire eat the blanket she was wearing.

" Pshh- my nose is way better than some dumb dog. " Leolin said dismissively- weather or not it was true was up for debate. He prepared his nose for the sting of rot and acid, before taking a deep breath. His eyes watered a bit, and he pointed in the direction of a nearby hallway.

"She's that way-" His voice was made high by his now sick stomach. " We-"
Leolin paused, his ears twitched. The sound of combustion, and the scent of fire.
" An explosion," he said simply before rushing down the stairs, following the scent of Apple and burning that drifted beneath the decay.
He just hoped that the chimera fur she was wearing would keep the flames at bay until they arrived.

~Very Stealthy~
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He watched as Leonin sniffed away, though soon it didn't matter overly much. His gaze darted up at the sound of an explosion, "Oooh no no no..." He muttered, shit, well if they wanted to be found out that was a very good way to do it. He cursed under his breathe, their mission getting less stealthy by the minute, and he didn't want to imagine fighting these Cyclops head on. Whatever the case, he started down the stairs, helping guide Ducci through his own ball bearings as he picked out the weak spots in their spread, motioning him along as they tried as best they could to make it to Apple in a hurry. "Where did she even get explosives...?!" He muttered, trying to keep it down but by this point the furstration was clear in his voice.

This was not good, this was absolutely not good, why did Apple not just stick with them?! Why run off?!

The Cyclops wheezed and cursed as Apple slipped from his grasp, before it stopped, it's eyeball twisting around in it's skull, searching for the tiny creature which had attached itself to it. "Stupid.. little.." Des hissed, while a different sound, an alarming high-pitched screeching came from behind his eye, just before it's head erupted in bright green fire. He gave an inhuman, gurgling screech as he twirled about, crashing against the nearby wall. Angrily slamming his hands against his skull, the fire finally went out, leaving the Cyclops with only a few scraps of flesh remaining upon it's skull, with it's eyeball still pulsating in the now exposed socket. The strange organ vibrated, turning blood red in color as it focused in the direction of Apple's thud against the far wall. Weakly standing up, the monster's body seemed to be moving forward not by it's original will, but of some other terrible and hateful instinct. There was a whirring and a flash of crimson light, and all of sudden Apple heard a popping sound. It was her own jaw clamping shut, followed by a low grinding sound if she attempted to push herself up from the ground. For a moment, she thought she couldn't move, but it passed, as she called upon the strength in her muscles, resulting in a terrible clacking noise in her joints. She could stand perfectly well, and even jump and run, but there was something different now. Her reflexes and the speed at which her body could move were slightly off, and whenever she stopped moving for a moment, it would take a bit longer to get started again. It wasn't a painful experience, but it was certainly concerning. Afterwards, the Cyclops faltered, breathing heavily and looking as if it would collapse, before it once again melted away into the darkness of the room.

"Piii! Piiiiiii! Piii! Piiiii!"

Apple felts like she was just get thrown into a wall and then crushed beneath some sort of gravity magic. She felts the ache on her entire body and was disoriented from the impact. She wanted to take a little break to regain her senses. The green fire had mostly vanished, the only remaining was the one still burning Leolin's blanket, which force her to discard it to the corner of the room, also there's flaming Pipi rolling aro-

"PIPI!!!!" Ignoring her own injuries, Apple struggled briefly before rushing towards Pipi. The mandrake was currently in panic, trying to extinguish the green fire on her back by rolling around the floor. Apple dreadly use her mantle to try patting the fire out, but alas her mantle ended up cathcing the fire too. The green fire wasn't that hot compared to regular fire but it seems to be very persistent and hard to put out. She threw away the mantle, scooped some ash from the bonfire and then poured it on her companion. Fortunately the ash did the trick, Pipi sighed in relief as the fire vanished.

"Piiii"

"Apple glad you're alive, Pipi."

"Pii!" Pipi weakly jumped into Apple's embrace and hide beneath one of her pocket.

The cyclops was gone, but there's nothing that indicate its death so Apple was still wary of her surrounding. She tried drawing her bow but couldn't find it anywhere so she came to the conclusion that her bow had been burned in the explosion. Her only weapons now would be the javelins in her bag of holding. Lighting up one of the javelin on fire to give her more illumination, Apple gave Leolin's blanket a last salute as she watched the green fire burned the last remaining of it. Apple didn't have any burn mark so the blanket must had protected her body from the fire, great job blanket. Your sacrifice would be remembered.

Approaching the door, Apple fiddled with the iron door then shoved it open, revealing Ducci, Regil and Leolin at the other side of the door. Apple stiffened, she didn't know what to say to them.

"O-oops. Apple find a secret door!" She pointed at the entrance to the other corridor inside the room.

Ducci followed Leolin along with aid of Regil, his eyes wide with concern upon hearing an explosive boom. "Oh my, I'd better keep a closer eye on you all from now on! I wouldn't forgive myself if something happened to one of you!" He uttered in a panicked tone, shaking his head. If there wasn't already a Cyclops in the room, surely there would be one soon. They had to prepare themselves quickly. Entering the eastern corridor, he felt a surge of relief. "Apple! Are you injured!?" He placed his hands upon the sides of her shoulders, looking on in concern. He'd been spending a decent amount of his magic so far, but not so much that he'd have to delay healing her if she was wounded in some way.

Elsewhere, the familiar howling of wolves could be heard, as well as a distant faint grinding and scraping of metal against stone.

If Leolin wasn't currently stressing out over the missing person in their group, he probably would have made a light hearted joke about parental figures. As it currently was, he just thought about it for a moment- ultimately deciding against it.
He arrived at the door as it opened; revealing a relatively unharmed looking Apple inside.

Leolin visibly relaxed, shifting back into his human form and letting out a heavy sigh. Ducci seemed to have the fussing over her part of the conversation covered already.

" Dude, you cant just run off like that," the words came out more matter-o-fact than chiding " Strength in numbers y'know; and also you could have died-"
It seemed his spiel was cut off by some sort of realization. He sniffed the air, and then sniffed it near Apple.

" Wait, why do you smell wrong? " he asked her, worry furrowing his brows. It was like there was somehow less of her- that didn't make sense though.

He was currently too focused on Apple's strange scent to take note of the scraping metal or howling of dogs.

Location: Krilgox Kingdom
Deep within the spires of the ruined castle, wrapped in shadows and tendrils of magic and visible naught but for the bandages wrapped around its form, a being of unspeakable magic grinned. Lifting its hand it examined the creature held aloft by their foot. A puny, barely enchanted club swung uselessly at the lich's body. It grinned, raising its other hand as darkness began to pool around it.

The goblin voice was shrill and enraged as it swung its weapon uselessly. Panicked screeches rose an octave as the shadows reached out. Inky tendrils wrapped around the flailing limbs, digging into veins of magic, muffling their cries beneath the pliant ebon black. As its work finished, the lich let the goblin hit the ground with a lifeless thud. Their face warped into one of mindless fear. Frozen that way, even as their body began to change.

The adventurers would come soon enough. The lich had felt their magic warping the skies. A distortion beyond where its ability could reach. Ignoring the darkness beginning to bubble and seeth around the pathetic corpse, the lich drifted to an arch that overlooked the abandoned kingdom. Its formless lips curled back. An expression too terrible to be a grin.

It would wait as long as needed for those adventurers to arrive. Patience came easily to those without fear of time.

Pri
Location: Forest of Stagnant Mists
Pri trilled as the beacon went up. Nodding to the adventurers who had gathered, she took to the sky. Regardless of where the others appeared, they would meet at the signalled spot.

In not much time at all, Pri swept in through an open window and settled on a nearby rail. A greenish, see-through appendage hung out of her mouth. She was quick to swallow it before clearing her throat with a prim cough, addressing those gathered.

"So! It seems we are waiting on a few members, but this is of no matter, for the most crucial part of any mission is the preparation!" She ruffled her feathers, eyes unblinking. "These ruins are very large, and the extent of the threat is yet unknown. To organise a proper attack, we must first understand its layout." She cast a meaningful eye down on the two gold ranks. "Of course, you may leave whenever you feel you are ready. I, for one, shall be enjoying this lovely fireplace if you need me." With that she leapt off her perch and glided to the leather seats in front of the stone alcoves, settling on one of the armrests with a contented look. They couldn't do much until the rest of the team arrived, though she knew there were those who became restless.

In the meantime, she wouldn't be going into the feather freezing blizzard outside unless absolutely necessary. The clouds of 'mist' seemed like they would bring about instant frostbite if one wasn't well prepared.

Brynhilde Gratia Leitner
Location: Guild Hall → Forest of Stagnant Mists

One by one, the ones gathered left in their own time. Some immediately following the guildmaster's lead as she left in an essential swirl of spirit and magic. Brynhilde would have followed shortly after if it weren't for the uncouthness of the one wielding lightning magic. His uncivilized mannerisms and undeserved regard for himself had only added to Brynhilde's growing concerns for the mission. If there was one to cause a mistake, it would most likely be that guy.

But as she had decided before, she cannot back out of this absolutely undeniable mess. She'll just have to experience such an unwanted predicament and take whatever learning and experience she can out of it.

With a sigh, Brynhilde drew forth her waystone, and with a firm grasp and a mental picture, she was bathed in a radiant, mystical light that warped her out of the hall. In a moment's passing, she re-emerged at the agreed rendezvous, a forest in which mentioned cabin was located. There she saw several others traveling in the distance, heading towards a pillar of flame that quickly dissipated.

Following their lead, she moved with a brisk pace. It didn't take long for her to arrive, perhaps just in time as the others did.

Apple

"Apple is soorrryyyy! but Apple is fine." Apple apologized for having the others worry for her, she wanted to ease their worry by reassuring them so she showed them how well she was by moving her limbs around. Although it was quite noticable how sluggish her movement was compared to before. She was rather confused at Leolin's question about her different scent because she didn't feel any different. She also noticed the barking sound on the distance and she instantly became alarmed again.

"enemy? Enemy? Enemy?" Apple run around in panic before she decided to hide further into the room, but all the furnitures in the room had been reduced to ash so she opened the other door to check the place out.
