The Game of Chess.. with Guns. (Sukakun and Chiarra)

She listened to him and sighed softly. "When I was little, I didn't fully understand what my father did, but I did understand he could get hurt...real bad. My mom tried to veil it from me, not wanting me to know, but....I knew. It's hard to hide when friends and family are dying around you." she moved to sit with her back against the wall so she could look sideways at him. "I used to cry and beg my father not to go when he had to, but...he never listened." She gave him a feint smile. "Sometimes I used to think my dad was invincible, and it helped, but...one day he came home shot and that was the end of that dream." She sighed softly and leaned back against the wall, looking at the ground. "My dad may not be invincible, but...he's a hard man and only cares about three things, his family, money, and power. If any is threatened, it usually doesn't end well for the other person."

Richard listens to her and he nods slowly as she recounts her childhood. "And that's why we are where we are. The Black Talon. The Golden Suns. West Pointe. We're all threats to his family. His money. His power. That's why this is going to keep going.. it's going to keep going until everyone else has been made unable to fight.. or completely eliminated. And walking away.. just makes us a target from our former allies.. because we know too much. We're all stuck here, Melody. In this vicious game.. till we win or die. We're all in it."

She sighed. She knew he was right. Still....she no longer agreed with it. She just pictured herself as a little girl again, afraid of losing her daddy. She didn't know much about the other clans, but...what if it was the same with them. They had daughters who loved their fathers and hoped they didn't get hurt. She looks at him. "Why can't we just get along?" she asked. "Why does there have to be so much fighting?"

Richard shifts on the uncomfortable seat in the cell. "Because this is the seedy underbelly of the city, Melody. This is the life that we're in." He chuckles softly. "They say this all dates back to when there were immigrants.. and in order to stand up against the powers that be, groups banded together. All the tigers. The panthers. The lions. The lynxes. Now.. we are powers. And all we can do.. is stand up to each other. To try to the THE power. The top of the food chain."

She sighed softly. "I just...it's just..." she didn't know what to say, she laid down on her back, looking up at the ceiling. An idea came to mind. She felt obligated to Richard and she had to do something. Her father had even trusted her with the keys when he let her guard, because why would his baby girl do anything so rash as to let one of them go? "My father's going to kill me," she said standing up. She looked at him. "If I do this, you can't go back to them. My father will hunt you down and kill you on sight and the Black Talons would be the first place he looks. And...you know how easy it was for him to shoot you the first time," she said indicating his shoulder. It might not have actually been him, but....it was under his orders. She took the keys and fumbled with them until she found the right one, sticking it in the keyhole and swinging the door open gently. "You don't have a lot of time, so go, quickly."

((If that's a bit too soon for that, I can make a different post lol))

"I can't." Richard looks at Melody and he shakes his head. "You know if I do this, then it's all going to come over your head. You're going to be in danger from your own people. From your own father. I can't just let you do this for only my sake." He stands and he moves over toward the entry way and he looks to his left and to his right. "So if I'm going to be doing this.. running away from the Blaze, the Black Talons, everyone.. I'm going to be taking you with me. Because there's no way I'm going to let you shoulder all that responsibility."

He spoke as he came to the entry way and she nodded. "I know all this." Her father would be so disappointed in her. Probably even hate her for this. She let tears fall. Then he spoke about taking her away with him. "Richard," she said, pausing. "If I'm going with you then....I at least want to say goodbye to my father first." By doing this, she took out her phone and set it to record. "Daddy," she said. "By the time you watch this...I'll be long gone and you will probably be very upset with me. Just know that I love you and..." tears were rolling down her face by now and there was a catch in her throat. "I don't care if you hate me, because I love you and unless you can figure out a way to make peace with the other clans....I may not come home. They aren't all bad Daddy. So please...please try and goodbye." She stopped recording it then and sat the phone down on the floor with that video ready to play when he saw it.

"I'm not just letting you go," she told him. "I'm letting the others go as well." She wiped her eyes, though it did no good. She moved to the other cells to open them up as well with Philip and Alice and let them out, telling them the same thing she told Richard what they would have to do. Then she looked at Richard and nodded. "Okay then....let's go."

Richard watches her, looking.. astonished. He shakes his head and he runs his fingers through his dark hair. Hate her for this? He looks over toward Alice. She suffered a similar fate in a matter like this. Her daughter works for the Golden Sun. And Alice was wearing it in her face. She reaches out and grabs Melody's hand as it comes open. "D.. don't do this, Melody. We'll make it work somehow.." Alice's ears brim with her own tears and she shakes his head, her voice choking and cracking as the memories come flooding back to her. "I don't like your father.. but you don't know the sort of grief you're going to cause him.."

Alice grabbed her hand and begged her not to do this. She looked down. "I...I have to. You guys don't deserve what my father is going to do to you and it doesn't matter to him that you actually took care of me." She looked away, tears streaming down her face still. She couldn't help but think of all the times she had spent with her dad, especially when she was little. That just made the tears fall even more and she tried to stop them. She looked at Alice and asked, "If....if your daughter came back to you right now, asking for forgiveness, would you give it to her? Would you love her again?"

Alice blinks when Melody asks her if she would love her again. She takes Melody's hand and pulls her in close to her, wrapping both her arms around her and hugging her close. She speaks softly into Melody's ear as tears fell down to the younger woman's neck and shoulders. "Oh yes. I've never stopped loving my dear daughter.. and every day I hope and I pray and I wait that she'll want to repair the relationship. But she is my daughter.. and I am her mother.." She smiles a trembling smile and shakes her head. "Its the suffering a mother has to endure.. that she loves her children.. all the time.. no matter what happens.."

Alice hugged her close and Melody wrapped her arms around her. That gave her hope that her father would still love her and hopefully would try to make the peace she had requested of him. Especially since that's the only way she would come back home. Even if he just tried and would accept for at least just three to come here and stay without the threat of being harmed by him.

"I'm just tired of all this fighting," she told the other woman. "He would have to just make peace enough to allow you guys to be here without being harmed and to be treated like guests and I'll come back. I just want him to try and make peace, even if he doesn't succeed." She let go of the other woman then. "Now go," she said. "Quickly we don't have much time before someone decides to come up here and try something. She wiped her tears away that were still falling, then went over to Richard. "Are you going to be okay to do this?" she asked him.

Alice nods slowly and she gives Melody a tired smile, stroking the younger woman's hair while she remained close to her. "I think we're all tired of this fighting, Melody. But like it was said before. We're all too deep in. We don't have a choice. We either face the other groups, or we get branded a traitor and have to run from our own people."

Richard nods and he gestures Alice to start leading the way. "So if we can't run back to the Black Talons, then where are we going to go? Either way, we're going to need to secure a ride. Do you have any favors to call in, Melody?"

She smiled softly at the woman, before going to Richard. "Yeah," she said. "I have a favor to call in. Just follow me." He should be outside already, working on on his vehicle like he always was. When they got out there, she motioned for them to stay low and walked out to him. "Carl," she called out.

"Hey, welcome back princess," he teased her.

She just shook her head. "I need a favor," she said. "You owe me, remember?

He sighed, "What do you want Mels?"

"I need a ride, as far away as possible. Can you do it?"

He looked at her. "Why?"

"You can't tell anyone, this is confidential and you have to promise."

After a moment, he sighed and conceded. "Alright, I promise, now what's this all about?"

She motioned for them to come out and headed to the car.

"Whoa! What are they doing out here Mels?"

"You owe me, remember? They're the reason we need to go so far away. It's alright if you don't take us, I have your keys." She was already in the drivers seat and she hoped they would hurry and get in the car.

As soon as they got in, she started the car and locked the doors as Carl tried to open it and drag her out, but he couldn't. She was already driving off. "I don't know where we're going, she said, but it does have to be far away."

Richard and everyone else when such a favor was immediately called on. Richard had to hold back when Carl tried to stop them. He was a good Blaze, trying to stop whatever was going on against Blaze interst. But Melody's heavy foot on the gas pedal sends the three in the car into eachother from the inertia from their unbelted selves pushes them around. Richard growls softly as he finally comes to right himself and looks at Melody. "We need to get through on the smaller highways. They'll be looking for us on the freeway.

"You mean highway 34?" Alice shakes her head. "That goes through the Pointe! Those Lynxes will be all over us if they catch wind of what happened here!"

She didn't slow down, even as she hit the road. Instead, she continued on while carefully trying to put her seat belt on too. "We need to ditch this car as soon as possible," she said. "UPS in it, no doubt they will be tracking us as soon as they can, which will be soon since no doubt Carl would be telling my father very soon. So, we get far enough away from where we are wanting to go, ditch the vehicle, and run for it. Since they will be expecting us to take another vehicle and drive somewhere, I suggest we head towards the woods on the other side and go from there to where ever we want. We'll need to cover our tracks and we can survive if we stay in our cat shapes," she said. She only knew this stuff because she watched too much tv and plus her father let her in on all the different types of security and tracking devices they had. "Any other suggestions?" she asked them.

"The woods?" Philip blinks.

"The closest woods from here are at the edge of Black Talon territory. Are you sure you want to do that, Melody? We're supposed to be running away from them, not toward."

Alice shook her head slowly. "We have UPS in here. So what? As long as they don't have a GPS chip in here, they can't track it." She chuckles. "They only know where it is because someone scans it in, not because they're watching packages from satellites."

She sighed, frustrated. "Fine, we'll just keep traveling by vehicle and go to a place we can agree on," she said.
