- Arkane from Umbra Court - Umbra Court, preparing for departure -
Arkane almost jumped when a new voice and figure entered the frey. He would glance from behind his fan. Did everyone decide to get into the same carriage? If the thing remained in one piece throughout the entire journey it would be a miracle all in itself. "Good afternoon, Gerik." He spoke, waving casually. "I am..." He paused for a moment. "Intrigued." Yes, that was the word he was looking for. He kept his expression as pleasant as usual, the smile remaining even as he hid it behind the wave of his fan once again. "The last thing that anyone expecting was for Vivifica to be the one to fall astray from all of the courts. Years of hearing how Umbra would be the one to 'break the mold' only to lead to this...it is hilarious." He admitted, a chuckle escaping his lips. He would then lower his fan, offering the same smile with a curious gaze. "When will we be leaving? It will be a long way over."

- Arun & Vincent from Ignis Court - Train Station: Walla Beach Central- Boarding the train -
Vincent would make himself comfortable as he saw Daruk sitting across from them on the isle. Vincent would wave. "It is fine! I am sure we can be loud enough to have a proper conversation." He said, waving as he would eat some more animal crackers. He would listen to Lev's concern, deciding to give his own input in the situation. "The Vivifica court are mages no lesser than any of us or the other courts. Their reason for separating and breaking the rules is yet to be determined, much less properly discussed. Should we be wary of them? Yes, of course. The rules are there for a reason. But we should not attempt to cause a fight from the moment we set eyes on them. Act normal. Be friendly. But keep your guard up. However, there should not be much to worry about. Should they attempt anything, the gods forbid that they do, they will be outnumbered." Vincent explained, chewing and pausing in between swallows in his explanation. Arun would remain sitting more rigidly and proper compared to Vincent, still eating the cookies he had been given. "Do not fret, Lev." Arun spoke, turning to glance at her. "Just be yourself. As for the High Priestess, she is a kind woman. However stern. Do not cause trouble, and keep to your best behavior, and you should be fine in her eyes. She will serve as the mediator, and will be more on edge than she usually is, however." Arun spoke, turning to see that they were getting ready for departure.

Outside of the window, Jynn and Zion could see a woman in a navy uniform leading Melstrome alongside the train. Apparently there was a car designated for animal transportation, and employees whose job was strictly to care for the animals during the journey.

The family seated themselves directly behind Zion and Jynn, though the children were rather rambunctious and had a difficult time staying still. The boy, who was probably no older than four years old, continued to peer at the two mages and smile shyly at them, and once his father noticed that the boy was potentially disturbing Vivifica mages he was scolded harshly.

"I am very sorry about my son," the father told both Zion and Jynn. "He doesn't understand privacy or personal space just yet."

His wife glanced over at Jynn and Zion fearfully, then toward her husband, before making both of her children sit quietly in their booths and pretend that the situation wasn't happening. There was a lot of tension, and it might be apparent to Zion and Jynn that the unsettlement between Vivifica and the rest of the courts was causing a great deal of fear and mistrust among the civilization. Mages are powerful, and the people weak. Everyday civilians rely on the mages to sustain their way of life, and now that Vivifica has broken away, all sorts of rumors have spread, and now the people are scared. It took quite the act of bravery for that mother to approach Jynn to heal her child.

The train's whistle blew, and a puff of steam could be seen outside the window. Slowly the motor started and the train began to move, trees blurring together as its speed increased toward Sanctus Heights.

"I brought my own," Shiroo responded casually to Henry, gingerly patting the flask at his belt containing sweet wine. "But that's nice that they'd offer refreshments for free. At least being a court mage has some perks. Sometimes I think those indies have it better, but, then again, they set their homes and cats on fire, and that doesn't make anyone happy."

The redheaded mage discussed this about as nonchalantly as discussing the weather, despite the fact that everyone knew the fate of a mage not affiliated with a court was a grim one indeed.

Their booth was filling quickly, with everyone wishing to sit together. This caused Shiroo to have to be elbow-to-elbow between Ephraim and Lev, but he didn't mind it. He would lean more into Lev anyway. He did raise to cross over to Daruk, as he felt it necessary and respectful to shake the maester's hand before returning to his seat.

"Dunno how I feel about all of this, to be honest," Shiroo murmured under his breath, glancing at Lev and admiring her lovely hair before looking out the window. "I mean, sure we hold meetings every summer and winter solstice with the High Priestess and the courts, but this meeting of urgency does feel a little grim."

The doors soon closed to the train, and a whistle blew. People scrambled to find seats over the next three minutes, as the train began to roll out of the station and toward Sanctus Heights, the view of the ocean growing ever more faint as they traveled further inland.

The dark-haired female arched a brow at Arkane's arrogance, responding haughtily. "Well, forgive me, but I am most acquainted with those born and raised in the court. And what are you, sixteen? Seventeen?"–though she knew he must've been older–"a few measly years in the court. Don't hold yourself so high and mighty, lest you fall tremendously on that sweet naive yet arrogant nose of yours."

Perhaps she was just having a bad day, but it seemed that she was not earning points with any of her fellow comrades that day. She straightened her hair, sitting across from him and extending her hand to shake his. "My name is Everyth. The name Arkane does ring a bell. I hear that you are a very promising necromancer, and possess magic that is extremely potent for your age. It is no wonder that you are held in such high favor of our lord–"

Speaking of lords, Everyth was quite taken aback when Gerik appeared at their carriage! Flush colored her cheeks as she brought a hand to the top of her chest, bowing her head lowly in respect. "Why, Maester! What a pleasure to see you! I am indeed ready." Her gaze flickered upon the man's face, remaining there as she finished voicing her thoughts. "I am honored that you would invite us on this expedition to the Grand Cathedral within Sanctus Heights. However, this is the middle of spring and not yet the summer solstice. What is the occasion?"

True, she had caught wind that there were issues with Vivifica and heard the rumors, but she felt it more appropriate to hear the reason from Maester Gerik as opposed to riding with these assumptions. Her violet gaze did shift occasionally to Arkane, ashamed that the boy spoke to Gerik so directly and with little respect.

Outside the Umbra mages would hear a horn cry out, and alongside Gerik came a small boy with a white-blond hair and a purple cape. A crow rested on his shoulder, though why was uncertain. "Maester, everyone is here. We are ready when you wish." He bowed, before skittering away to one of the other carriages.

Mellark nodded in gratitude to Thea's statement, pleased that he flattered her. Mako had finally arrived, which was the final mage that they were waiting for before setting sail.

The ship that awaited them was of an average size. It looked like it could hold at least fifty people, and for their small number it would be quite spacious. The ship contained a room for the captain that contained the helm, and below decks were several rooms moderately dressed with accommodations that a mage would need for day-to-day activities. There were two levels below the deck, and then beyond that was where the boiler was. The ship was already equipped with a crew of eight men, which would be sufficient for running the ship and getting the mages to their destination. The captain walked over to Thea as the mages approached, removing his cap and giving her a polite bow.

"Maestra," he began courteously. "And Mages, welcome. I hope that you are comfortable over your voyage. It should be about six hours before we arrive around the Mortem Mountains outside of Sanctus Heights. Do you have travel accommodations once we reach land?"

Meanwhile, Mellark noticed that Luka began seeking a place to rest, to which he went over to her and hoisted her up by an arm.

"Not yet," he told her. "Let's just get on board, then you can sleep to your heart's content until we get there." He was only just beginning to get to know Luka, but he could already tell that they were going to have an interesting journey together indeed with the way that things were going.

The other mages were a pace or two behind Aislinn and Richter, the latter having gone up to approach the Maestra. His concern for her both was a comfort and a grievance; she didn't wish to make anyone worry. Her dark eyes flickered from his glowing hair to his gentle face, a soft smile playing on her lips as she rested a hand on his shoulder.

"I am fine, Richter. Please do not worry for me so," Aislinn reassured. "As you know, sleep does not come well to me these days, and I am forever thinking of the future, and my daughter." A frown furrowed the Maestra's brow at the mention of Lev, though she quickly moved on to redirect attention from herself. "But what about you? You look as though you haven't slept in ages yourself. Does something ail you?"

The game had begun, and it was going well so far. Each regarded their hands and each other, one man placing a greater wager to trade out cards in his hand.

"I think we should make this a little interesting," the dark haired man said, looking over his hand and smiling over at Arno. Tibarn's expression shifted slightly from where he sat, acknowledging Arno's hidden sign and eyeing the man with the tickets. He rose from his seat, announcing loudly that he was going to get a drink, and then slipped off to the bar. The man was still smiling, gaze shifting between Arno, Gabriel, and then resting on Saff.

"If you win, we'll give you anything you want on us," he said, to which the woman's jaw gaped open. "But if we win, the lady mage comes with us."

This seemed acceptable terms to his companions. The woman nodded, staring at Saff's weapons, while the other man drained the rest of his shot glass dismissively. How he knew she was a mage was a wonder, though it was also questionable why he thought this would matter to Arno. Had he noticed Tibarn and Saff's exchange, albeit brief? Would the three gentleman be willing to risk the fate of a woman, a woman that they didn't know, on a game, and would Saff be okay with going on this?

- Jari, Somnum Court, docks with everyone -

Jari found himself stuck between a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, he left his tail back at home, his stiff, neatly brushed tail that has seen frequent use ever since his he cut it off of the taxidermy fox within his neighbor's household and claimed it for his own (he paid dearly for it through an abundance of yelling and some pocket money, but it was worth every dram of payment). It was like a best friend in absence of best friends, and it always was near him, even if not on his person. On the other hand, the ever lovely Mako came around, voicing an excuse whose subject was a passion of his: enchantment.

Looking back and forth between the open way and who he hoped would be the source of excellent conversation, he struggled with making a decision until, with burning tears, he tore off in the direction of the tail.

"I'll be right back, Miss Nero-o-o!" he called out, skittering around the bend and disappearing by a building, using lightning magic to energise his synapses and make him react faster and get a burst of speed.

This trick was taught to him by a wandering traveler who he met in one of the towns, an untrained mage who learned some things through hardship and experimentation. She did not say anything to him, but in an exchange of glances her eyes told him everything he needed to know of the power, even her name, somehow. Ychera Vencii -- he wondered if he would see her again someday.

~~ ~~

Probably five minutes later, he came back huffing and puffing but with a mouth that was all smiles. He found it and attached the tail through a beltloop, and the thing bobbed stupidly behind him. Even still, he felt cocksure and happy now, wearing an air of confidence.

"All right, I'm back and ready to go!" he chirruped to the rest of the group. "What'd I miss?"

((Feel free to answer or not answer; I posted the second part just to hurry things along. I don't know how long the introductory moment will last.))

- Daruk, Ignis Court, all aboard the train! -

Daruk smiled widely at the thought of the High Priestess. She was a lovely lass, but a mystery in and of herself. Conversations merely led to learning a bit more about her personality, but not her past, but one thing was for certain about her.

"She is certainly friendly, Lev!" he bellowed jovially. "She is a people person for sure, but if you ask certain questions she closes herself off. Stick to the here and now and you'll be fine, but don't dig for the past. None here know it for certain.

"As for Vivifica in general, hnh, tough one. Stick to the bread 'n' butter of our business, balance. Friendship with caution, guard with discretion, and give them the benefit of the doubt unless there is true cause for alarm. They, like the other courts, are our brothers and sisters of the world. They deserve respect, but I will not lose the brothers and sisters of my court to foolishness.

"Ah, my legs are in need of walking! Henry, will you join me for a tick? I need me some company for a small bit of lager and conversation!"

He looked over to Henry before getting up, and perhaps only to him will he seem gravely serious, as if it were very important. He started slowly walking to the next car of the train where some beer was on tap, waiting his turn patiently as passengers settled into their rows, as well as for Henry.

- Thea Nero - Court of Somnum: Harbor District - Docks -

Professor Nero was taken by surprise by the sudden arrival of Mako Koyle. Once Mako was close enough she gave Nero an explanation about why she had been late, it was interesting. She also felt Kagura hugging her arm.

"Do not worry about it, Miss Koyle, no harm done," She said as she looked at everyone," It seems that the whole group is here. In which case, we should-"

Her train of thought was suddenly derailed thanks to Jari running away, probably in search of his missing accessory. Nero cocked her head, slightly amused by such display. In any case, it was time to board the ship.

"Thank you for offering, Kagura. I think that we will wait for Mister Coriander first. I will talk with the captain and will give him the choice about using such method," Nero said while gently ruffling Kagura's hair with her free hand,"Now let us board the ship and wait for Mister Coriander."

The ship was of good size, and a crew was already making preparations to set sail. Nero loved to be on the open sea, it was like something was calling her. Often times she dreamed about being underwater for a long time, without any need to reach the surface to breath, she could see the light of the surface getting farther and farther with each passing second, until total darkness enveloped her. Those were strange yet peaceful dreams. The voice of the captain of the ship made her focus once more.

"Greetings, Captain. It is a pleasure to be on board of such fine ship. You have my thanks for agreeing to take us south on such short notice," Nero said as she gave the captain a small curtsy, "Six hours sound like a good time. I'm afraid that we are still missing one of Somnum's mages, he had to return to his place of residence to-"

The sound of foot steps made Nero turn her head and see that Jari had managed to return on time, and with his dear accessory already on him.

"Not much, Mister Coriander. The Captain here was just telling me that our trip will take around six hours before we are back on land. Also, Captain, I was going to suggest that either me or one of Somnum's mages could offer some assistance by performing some water control, that way the ship would move at a slightly faster pace if you wish for us to make the trip faster, but I will leave such choice to you," Nero said to the Captain, "I'm afraid to say that we do not have travel accommodations after we reach land. Do you, perhaps, have a recommendation, Captain? Perhaps some place to rent some carriages?"

Saff- In the Tavern

She stood up at the table. “Hold on one second! Dont i get a say in this!” She growled. Saff clearly didnt seem too happy about the phrasing and passing agreement. She noted the eyes on her weapon and tightened the strap on her rifle immediately . Her eyes were like dagger on Tibarn. Some of the members at the table could swear their chairs became a bit more wobbly at that moment

Luka- Somnum

It wasnt the first time someone had to drag Luka out from her place of rest and it certainly wouldnt be the last. The researcher whined as she was lead onto the boat. She grumbled something about people messing with sleeping hours and needing to sleep to improve reasearch productivity. She finished with the phrase “magic doesnt advance itself.” By this time she was on the boat and had wrapped herself in a blanket. She looked very tired.

- Arno Cross - Vita City Tavern -

The game was going well...until one of the fools he was playing against decided to 'spice things up'. And say something he probably shouldn't have, the offer in question sounded favorable should he win, but Arno was not risking the girl who had just joined for them to take, they didn't even give the girl a say in it, which only served to annoy him further. His hat now blocked vision from his eyes, this was usualy a sign of concentration or anger from Arno, one Tibarn and Gabriel knew all too well.

"She is not with us." Arno answered the man. "Its not up to me to accept it or not." He added, before raising his head a bit so his eyes could be seen. He decided to let the comment about her being a mage pass, not wanting to pry and cause a ruckus. He turned his head towards the girl (Saff). With neutral eyes, that of a possible ally or enemy should she choose her actions right, before turning his gaze towards the drunkards. "And even if I knew her, I wouldn't wager her." Arno finished. His stance, he sat upright, resting his back on the chair as he still held the cards on his hands, this proved he didn't feel threatened by the men, and any possible threats they could throw his way.

"So, how about we just play the game...normaly." Arno spoke, with a more serious tone. A downright chilling tone, for those with a lack of backbone, a threatening one for those with one.

- Henry Heid - Ignis Train to Sanctum Heights -

As the question about how they should act when meeting VIvifica mages was brought up, Henry felt better to chime in with his own insight on the matter, even after most others had specified their views.
"I doubt most Vivifican mages agree to what the court and its Maester are doing, so, As Daruk said, Its best to give them the benefit of the doubt, and not imply any hostility towards them, last thing we need is a fight breaking out in the middle of the High Mistress's audience." Henry added, with a serious, albeit friendly tone. His concentration was broken as Daruk stood up, boastfuly saying he needed to walk a bit, and invite him to accompany him. "Of course, Daruk, sir." He corrected himself at the end, to try to not act too casual around his Maester, out of respect for the man.

However as he got up, he noticed Daruk's mannerisms. And probably only he noticed the man was serious, much out of the ordinary for a joyous, and outgoing man such as Daruk. He quickly got up as well and proceeded to follow Daruk into the next train car.

"Is something the matter, Daruk?" Henry asked him, clearly worried and confused.

- Richter Vanis - En route to Cape Ed Draco -

Richter's expression didn't change much as Aislinn spoke to him, even placed a hand on his shoulder, which surprised him slightly, but he kept his mannerism and posture, not breaking eye contact as she spoke to him.

However his eyes somewhat widened slightly as she mentioned his lack of sleep, was it that obvious? did he had bags under his eyes? Did his hair glow slightly less than before? why could everyone notice his lack of sleep?!. Richter let out a small chuckle at her question, before turning back to his serious expression and looking back at her.

"I have thrown myself into my duties lately, so much that I hadn't had the time for a proper sleep yet." He gave the excuse, clearly trying to hide that the reason that he hadn't slept in over five days was out of worry for her condition and health. This much was obvious just from looking at him.
"But I assure you that, however trouble my sleep schedule may be, will not hinder me in my duties to you, Maester Aislinn." He respectfuly added, trying to finish the topic at hand as fast as he could.

Zion - Vivifica Court, Train

Zion smiled, shaking her head. "It is no trouble." She assured the family. "The status of a mage is quite something, and I'm sure he just wants to be one when he grows up." Zion peered at the boy, then smiled gently. "I see the fire of Ignis in his eyes...or is that the calm of Somnum..." She mused. "No, definitely Ignis. I can see that sword-wielding heart and that little ember begging to ignite." She beamed at the boy. "Or I could be wrong? Who knows." She shifted to turn back to her table, leaving them with that. She went back to her book, quiet and idle.

Kagura Sumeragi - Somnum Court, The Boat

Kagura meeped softly. Nero had discovered a weakness - hair ruffles. Well, anything regarding ruffles, or petting, or just running fingers through hair. A few soft, cute sounds would escape the ruffle, the Dancer still holding onto Nero...though the hold would loosen after a few seconds, as to not inhibit Nero's movements. Quiet, Kagura glanced over at Jari as the boy returned with...a weird tail. Blinking, Kaga softly sighed, tucking behind Nero again. Jari was weird.

Eclaire - Umbra Court, Carriages

Eclaire shifted a bit. Quiet now, she pulled a book from a small circle of blue-white light, and began to flip through it. It was a book of illustrations, all of it based on Vivifica, from the lowest of areas to the most impressive manors. She seemed to linger on a single manor, then continued. It was a habit - she'd flip through it maybe once every few days...to remember. To remember the years she spent there with Father, the grounds. She wasn't....well, she wasn't unhappy with her mother. She didn't mind the small home. What she missed was her family. She only got to spend time with one of each, and genuinely...she just wanted her family to be together once again...

Once again...

Jynn Venas - Vivifica - On the train
As the train starts to move, Jynn watches the interaction between Zion and the child. He remains silent. It makes him contemplate his life. He has no memory of his childhood, and it pains him that he cannot remember. Jynn faces the window and still remains silent. Perhaps someone or something might spark his memories. But until then, he keeps his burdens to himself.

Lev Noirtier - Ignis - Onboard the train

Lev heeds everybody’s suggestions, and watches as Henry and Daruk set off to wander. It seems that the High Priestess is a friendly individual, but it appears nobody knows about her past. Perhaps she did not have the best life, and the desire to keep burdens to oneself is part of being human. Nevertheless, it would probably be best to keep a good attitude around her.

= Jari Coriander, Somnum Court, carving something on the ship heading for Sanctus Heights -

"Six? That's a number I can live with! I never went on a ship before! I'm sure it will be great!"

Jari burbled such, and looked at the ship with a bit of marvel as he wandered a little further. Somewhere along the way he saw Luka again, swaddled up neatly in a blanket as if in dire need of rest. He decided to leave her be. A large portion of the Somnum mages required a lot of sleep to be able to function properly. Jari himself, however, required a more creative outlet.

Humming to himself, he took out his small knapsack and pulled out a copper metal ingot, admiring the heft of the small thing with a few tosses into the air and afterward looking at it with great interest. He wondered what he would make out of it and how good it will look, but it was tough to come up with a . . .

No, he had inspiration already, and he cracked a grin as he brought the copper bar between Luka and his eye. His mind was set that he would make a small statuette in Luka's likeness, wrapped up in the blanket like she was right now, and quickly got to work.

"Whittle," he whispered, stirring to action the metal itself, and shaving it down piece-by-piece until it no longer looked like a metal bar, but something with greater shape.

At first it was rounded, then more oblong in some areas, and finally grooves made its way across its surface as he etched deeper and deeper into the fine copper. He always had difficulty with the face -- carving something so small required a lot of finesse and concentration, as the mind's eye is not very keen -- but somehow he managed to make a very good replica of the splendid Luka.

"Now all I need is someone who would like it! Hmm," he spoke again to himself, humming again as he observed his handiwork over a mound of shavings of copper metal.

- Daruk, Ignis Court, speaking an aside to Henry in a different train car -

Daruk closed the door after Henry slid inside the different box car, then shifted and smiled enigmatically.

"Something of the sort, lad. I hold everyone I meet in high esteem." His smile dropped. "This habit is a little thing I was raised with, maybe born with, but even still I feel a sense of worry. What if this does get out of hand with Vivifica? What if I don't return after the fight, or end up elsewhere and die on the field of battle, or through some poisonous wine or, heavens, poisonous beer?! An entire court could be thrown asunder by the loss of one person. Forgive an old man's ponderings, but I have been giving this a lot of thought.

"That's why I thought to myself, 'Self? How 'bout you name yourself an heir apparent? My last heir died to a brigand attack when they laid a trap for him, the cowards. You may remember him shortly before you arrived her in Ignis, a regal man that was a relation of Shiroo's. The one before that died too five years before that, and I long thought it a cursed deal to bring in an heir, but you, Henry, I think you have enough gusto. No curse or deal can bring you down, gwa ha!

"I didn't want to say this in front of the others, so I'll let them know through hearsay. I'd like you to be my go-to replacement, Henry. It's on paper as well, but if you turn it down, well"--he bobbed his thick-set shoulders--"that's fine too, I guess. Whaddya say?"

- Eleanor Le Doux, Fierce Shadow, Umbra Court - Carriages, with Eclaire - Xion136 Xion136

The sheer disdain on display from Everyth was...unexpected to say the least, astounding and outright offensive to say the most, that she would be so rude. Now why was Everyth so protective of this girl? Did she feel that Eleanor was a danger? That would be a strange assumption indeed, unless Everyth had never known Eleanor in her life as a fellow Umbra. Was she...

Eleanor shook her head, wrenching the potential thought from her brain, yet still, her mind was elsewhere, still trying to get over what had just transpired. Ordinarily, Eleanor wouldn't let such outright hostility stand, but her being utterly flabbergasted and not wanting to make a scene in front of poor old Eclaire, Eleanor made quite the exception after Everyth departed from the carriage. What's worse, just before she regained her focus, Eleanor had realized she had blanked so hard that she had unintentionally ignored Eclaire's reply.

"Oh! Oh, I'm sorry, my mind was elsewhere, Eclaire. It's nice to meet you too." She uttered with surprise, then great courtesy, even placing hand on her chest and bowing very slightly, in spite of already sitting down.

"My name is Eleanor. I trust you and Everyth are already acquainted?" Eleanor went on, not wanting to pry too much, all the while making a mental note on Eclaire's...interesting appearance. The cat ears did nothing to detract from the beauty she was beholding. "I'm a nice gal, I can assure you." She then added with a friendly chuckle, truly wanting to make it seem like Everyth never even so much as batted an unfriendly eyelash at her.

- Gabriel Woods, Bounty Hunter, Partner of Arno - Vita City Tavern - Scrapmaster Scrapmaster

The currently, oddly silent and hooded partner in Bounty Hunting and Mercenary work of Arno Cross, sat watching the card game taking place, taking a sip of his whiskey as he kept an eye on the stranger girl, who had moments ago just protested her barring from having an option regarding her fate that lay in the hands of the Poker game taking place between Arno and a few others. Gabriel Woods didn't have much of an opinion on the matter, so long as this ended with he, Arno and likely Tibarn, getting paid and moving on to the next, hopefully more interesting and exciting job.

What really sold Gabriel's continued silence was, as usual, Arno's signs, of potential concentration and anger, more than enough to tell Gabriel what Arno had in mind: His hat fell over his eyes.

After Arno asserted that they play the game normally, Gabriel continued to spectate silently, drinking some more whiskey, all the while keeping a subtle gaze on all present in the Poker game, as well as the perimeter, just in case there were any surprises.

(Just these two for now.)

Tension slowly grew around the table. The dark-haired man's gaze flickered from Arno, to silent Gabriel, and then back to Saff with a laugh. "Ah, my mistake. I thought you all were in on this together. Of course, you cannot gamble someone you don't know, so, let us continue playing and see what fate has in store for us!"

His copper eyes met with Saff's, a dangerous smile playing on his lips before setting another pile of rewards on the table, upping the stakes as he drew another card. At Saffron's protest the woman clutched the table nervously, looking over at the bartender and the rest of the patrons. The other man with them seemed a bit too drunk to be taking in very much, making dark comments about the weather and wondering how his dog Ruffo was doing back at home.

Tibarn shot Saff an apologetic look, receiving the mental daggers that she threw his way. "Drinks for everyone!" he shouted gleefully, dropping mugs of bubbly alcoholic beverages in front of them all to enjoy. Even Gabriel, who he elbowed and murmured casually in his ear: "Be prepared to slam 'em if things get ugly." He then resumed his seat between Arno and the dark-haired man, sitting across from Saff and eyeing her occasionally, cautiously. It struck him as odd that the man would want something with her. Was she someone special? Was she really a mage? Tibarn's gaze flickered hungrily toward the train tickets in the man's coat pocket. He was wagering one of them in the game, though three others were tucked away. He leaned his elbows along the table, commenting dryly: "So, them mages are meeting again. Something about importing Itika into Regalia. I'm guessing it's a pretty lucrative business, smuggling it in. I thought about getting in on it. What about you folks?"

Meanwhile the bartender watched their table lazily while busing the bar, seeming more interested in the exchange than particularly concerned.

Aislinn watched the humor leave Richter's face about as quickly as it had appeared. Always abrupt to return to business, she thought mildly, before considering the man again. "Do not be mistaken, Richter, in that I do not worry for your duties," she responded, her tone strained. "But I worry for your health. One must strike a balance in this world. Life is all about balance. Without proper rest you will not be able to function at your utmost, and I do fear for your well-being long term. Having said that"–her seriousness lightened, offering the man a warm smile–"why not balance your workload and spread it to your fellow mages? I know that Jynn would happily help you in what you are working on, and Valery, too."

Aislinn drew inward, silent for the majority of the trip, though did start a few idle conversations such as asking Richter if he ever swam, liked hiking, and what he enjoyed doing in his free time. Warm smiles exuded from the Maestra, yet her eyes were both wary and distressed.

Eventually they arrived at the cape, where they rested and received refreshments before making their way onto the port. A sailboat with fresh linen sails awaited them, a young lad with wavy black hair and worn garments stood outside of it glancing over his shoulder nervously. He watched the group of mages with hesitation, visibly swallowing before bowing to the lot of them.

"Greetings, young man," said Aislinn. "I hope that this afternoon sees you well?"

"It has, thanks to the good health and fortune," he responded politely, lifting his head and glancing back and forth between Valery and Elliot. "The boat is yours, though, ah, if you could be certain that traces aren't left aboard–"

A lift of her hand silenced him, and for a moment the youth thought that he'd spoken out of line, until she responded with. "We understand. Fear not. Our dealings will not affect your business and good name, of that I can assure you."

She dropped a black velvet pouch in his hands, and from the rattle and weight one could guess that it contained gold. He was not rude enough to count it in front of the Maestra, and instead nodded graciously and gestured toward their vessel.

"May you have safe passage across the seas."

The captain chortled in delight at Nero's courtesies, before waving a hand carelessly and answering: "Oh, it was my pleasure, milady! Always happy to serve a mage court, what with the way you all restlessly serve us."

He ran a hand along the sides of his white mustache, which drooped toward the corners of his mouth. "Ah, I know of a stable right along port. It is but a short walk, and the family is always gracious to serve court mages. Eirika would be delighted to lend you lot some horses, and she may even have a working carriage now that I think about it."

The captain was quite chipper to have the mages aboard his ship, shooting a quizzical glance at Mellark dragging Luka, and then Jari arriving with his tail, but he made light of the situation and guided them upon his ship. Signaling to the crew, the proper preparations were made and they quickly set sail.

"I do not wish for you and your young lady mage there to overwork yourselves," the captain explained to Nero, gesturing to Kagura whom was offered to help. "My crew is hard-working and would gladly get you there. So long as . . . we do not see anymore Balaenas."

This is probably an unfamiliar term to the mages, as they are unfamiliar with the dealings on the sea. For a moment the captain seemed slightly uneasy, gripping the collar of his suit before running a hand along his mustache again. Apparently the gesture soothed him. "Having said that, if you and the young mage wish to boost our speed you are more than welcome. Please make yourselves at home, and welcome aboard The Dauntless!"

Meanwhile Mellark went below decks to deposit his belongings in one of the rooms, leaving Luka where she lay bundled in a blanket. "Don't get yourself into too much trouble," he murmured in Jari's ear moments before leaving.

Once everyone had returned to a carriage the party started moving, en route to Sanctus Heights along the Western Canyon and passing many beggars as they went. It seemed that the canyon was not home to the wealthiest outside of the court, likely due to a lack of vegetation and proper trade. The two continents of Regalia had once been one, but many a century ago, over weathering and powerful mana, the two separated. A treaty was struck between Ignis and Umbra mages, and together the two worked together tirelessly to erect the Big Bridge. Spanning over two miles, The Big Bridge is among the most favored architectural landmarks in Regalia, frequented by many on a regular basis and even still well-maintained by Ignis mages.

Today, however, a surprise awaited the Umbra Court, the expanse of the bridge blockaded by several cartloads, carriages, and a band of men and woman of at least twenty in number. A man with a spiked mace smacked his palm with the smooth handle, approaching the carriages as they had come to a mandatory halt. He arrived at Pali's carriage, which had been the first to arrive, swinging the carriage doors off its hinges and pointing a revolver at the dark mage's head.

"Empty your pockets and step out of the carriage, young man," he demanded. "If you know what is good for you."

The rest of the bandits stood at the ready, pistols and swords prepared to strike out at any who wished to oppose. The blond-haired youth with the raven sat alongside Gerik, concern contorting his face.

"Maester, they're robbing everyone," he murmured, face plastered against the window. "What do you propose we should do? There's many more of them than there are of us; we don't even know if they can use magic!"

(This is an opportunity for you to test your skills in some combat, if you wish, or if you have other plans you can make it be so. If you wish to control some of the bandits you are welcome to, or if you would like to attack and wait for me to respond I can control them as well. Whichever you have a preference on, though named NPCs that I'm directly speaking for I would like to continue to take charge of)

The train rolled on and on, lulling Shiroo into a deep sleep. He leaned into Ephraim after all, despite planning on Lev, and tuned out the majority of the conversation until a kind lady with a sweets trolley appeared. The woman had a gentle aged face with wrinkles around her eyes and mouth, gray hair pulled up into a top-knot on her head. She smiled at the lot, the talk of sweets rising Shiroo as he rubbed an eye and considered the tray.

"Anything from the trolley, dearies?" she asked, in an accent heralding from the North. Upon the cart were many delectables to choose from, ranging from chocolates, popcorn, candied apples, dried fruits, an array of nuts, and several other goods that most could not resist upon the ride. Shiroo fidgeted through his pocket and pulled out a few coppers, exchanging them for a candied apple and a word of thanks to the woman.

"We should be arriving within the hour," the woman commented, stealing a glance outside the window as farmlands zipped by.

The boy stood a fraction taller as Zion mused which court he would belong in, chest puffed up with pride. "My mama is a mage!" he cried out, both parents' eyes growing wide with shock. They waved him down, looking both embarrassed and concerned by the outburst. The mother resumed her knitting of a scarf, though if Zion watched closely she would notice the yarn she weaved together was singeing.

As the train continued to roll on deeper into the forest and out on the other side, the door to their car burst open and a man came running through. He wore a loose tunic and pants, dressed from the western canyon, over his shoulder slung a bag. The man stole a quick glance over his shoulder before moving onto the next car, though the voice of an elderly woman rang through the cars behind them.

"THIEF! PLEASE, ANYONE STOP HIM!"

The family looked concerned, drawing their children close to the window and telling them to keep their heads low. The mother bit her lip, glancing between her knitting and back at the door. It seemed that she wanted to help but was afraid.

- Thea Nero - Court of Somnum: Harbor District - Docks -

"Thank you for sharing this information, Captain. We will make sure to take a look at the stable and ask for this "Eirika" you speak of," Nero answered the Captain, "I am quite sure that an agreement can be reached regarding suitable payment for their services to the Court of Somnum."

Balaenas, something about that word made Nero's eye twitch slightly, barely noticeable for anyone close or from afar. Maybe it was something her late father, Theos Ouranos, had told her from the times he had been a humble sailor, but for some reason the memory avoided her.

"Thank you and your crew for your hospitality, Captain, I will make sure that my mages are on their best behavior. Also, you don't have to worry about us, cooperation between mages and those unable to use magic is essential to succeed on many tasks. I do not have an issue with helping the ship sail faster. As for Kagura, well, I am sure it wouldn't be a problem for any of us," Nero said as she took a look towards the sea, "I do have a question, Captain. These "Balaenas"? What kind of creatures are they? Would it be wise for me and my mages to be ready for a possible encounter with creatures from the sea?"

Professor Nero wanted to make sure to know if a battle was a possibility in their travel aboard the ship, and an explanation regarding these creatures would be of huge help to her and her group. The sea was a beautiful place, but it was also dangerous and wild at times. And the look on the Captain's face a few seconds ago made her realize about the possibility of a dangerous situation. If the Dauntless was attacked, she had to make sure that her crew was protected at all cost.

{Gerik Lockford - Umbra Court: Western Canyon; Departure}
Gerik smiled faintly at Arkane's intrigue that it was Vivifica that went rogue. While he himself hadn't been expecting such a sudden turn from that court, it was only a matter of time. Their "good at any cost" trappings was a recipe for zealots and the overly emotional to leap into something without using their brains. That was why the courts banded together. They could balance each other out. But, Vivifica decided it didn't need the other courts anymore. A dangerous precedence to be stamped out. And as for the Umbra Court, well... the majority of members were self centered, thus easily placated by feeding their wants, as long as it didn't draw too much attention or cause too much harm. Those who went too far or were the rare personification of the court's feared reputation were few and far between, mostly due to Gerik's diligent pruning.
"Shortly." The Maester answered Arkane absently, still considering the state of his Court.
He reinvigorate his smile as he regarded Everyth.
"Oh, Miss Castanova." He said pleasantly. "If you don't already have a good idea as to our purpose, then you would not belong in this expedition."
Gerik seemed like he would say more, but the arrival of the young lad with news of the caravan's readied state seemed to change is mind.
"Well, then. I must return to my carriage to get this started. I look forward to speaking to you both at a later time."
With a bow, he took his leave of Arkane and Everyth to return to his carriage. Inside, there was now a man in the unassuming garb of a clerk. Getting in, Gerik settled in for the report this agent would bring.
***
Maester Lockford was doing some light reading when the first, well, "obstacle" in the journey presented itself. He gave the bandits a bored look as he closed his book and put it away. He understood and even supported those of physical power using their gifts and ingenuity to sustain themselves, but more intelligence was required if long term survival was wished for.
"What anyone should do when meeting someone new." He replied calmly to the lad's question. "Introduce ourselves."
Gerik swung himself out of his carriage and sauntered towards the the apparent leader of these ruffians.
"My dear sir!" He called out. "You've done us the disservice of not introducing yourself. You are obviously brave fellows. As who would attack an Umbral caravan comprising of its Maester and his hand picked entourage-"
With a snap of his fingers, a dark matter bolt tore across the remaining distance. It's target was to hit the man's gun hand and knock it off target.
"but the very brave." Gerik concluded, his tone now darker.

{Mako Koyl - Somnum Court: Eastern Sea; Aboard ship}
Mako felt relieved by Professor Nero's brushing off or her lateness. The professor was a good egg, from what Mako had seen of her. Still, had to be on your toes when dealing with the Maestra of a Court. Not wanting to slip into awkward silence and starring, Mako gave Kagura a friendly smile and thumbs up. But, luckily, it felt like the spot light shifted to Jari's quick excursion and the arrival of the captain. Mako tried to melt into the back of the crowd, trying to be out of the way. She felt a pang of sympathy for Luka. Sleeping was another one of the things she wished she could be doing right now.
Unsure what to do or what was expected of her, Mako stuck with the Professor, as apparently did Kagura. Was she sea sick or something? The young teleporter had to admit, she didn't know that much about Kagura.
"Hey." She said, poking Kagura's shoulder. "You're the dancer, right? My parents told me they'd pay for dance lessons after I mastered the ancient art of ch'uan. Well, I think I got that figured out, but still no dance lessons."
She added an encouraging smile. Most of that was rambling, but maybe a little humor was what they young lady needed.
Mako's smiled faltered a little after Professor Nero's questions about the Balaenas. Crap, was the dangerous stuff gonna start now?
"Well, I suppose it would give the regular entertainment a break." She pipped in.
"Why in the hells did I say that?" Mako thought, keeping her sudden embarrassment from her face.

SAFF AT THE TAVERN

While she did have a good hand Saff folded. Her eyes sharped on the one who suggested she be some prize in this game. She focused on his face before a look of realization hit her. She then looked away.

Saff’s eyes then rested on the mug. “Ill pass... drinking toys with ones perception...”

Her eyes then returned to the black haired man. “I don’t believe we’ve had the pleasure of formally meeting before.... who are you...”

- Arkane from Umbra Court - Umbra Court, preparing for departure -
Arkane had fallen asleep when the carriages came to a stop. He would pause, looking up as he would look around, narrowing his eyes. "What the hell is going on?" He asked, yawning as he stretched his arms. He would look out the window, furrowing his brows as he could see men and women just standing around. It would appear that they were getting robbed. He would turn to his companion, sighing. "You know. I do hate to support the Umbra reputation of heartless Necromancers." He would admit. "But my patience is running thin today." He would stand up and step out of the carriage. He would turn and walk towards the commotion rather than against it, absolutely calm as he would take out his flute. "What the hell is going on?! We cannot afford to be late to the meeting!" He yelled. One of the man would turn to him. "Stay back! Empty your pockets and step out of the carriage!" One of them roared. Again, his patience was running as thin as linen, eyes narrowing. "How dare you." He hissed. Maester be dammed, he can complain all he wants once it is over. He would pick up his flute and bring it to his lips as he began to play. The tune was soft, and some of the men and women would probably stare at him as if he were a lunatic. However, Arkana would remain calm before the tune became faster. Soon enough the ground before him would glow, two different sigils of red showing up. Arkane would lower the flute as something would surge from the sigil. These creatures were inhumane. They were up to a dozen of bodies all mixed and matched together, with multiple arms reaching out and crawling out of a single, cramped casket that was attached to them through. There would be two of them, one on either side. One of Arkane's experiments. Well, one of few. They would hiss and gargle, drooling embalming fluid as multiple heads screeching and looking around as they waited for orders. Arkane would glare. "Step aside or else I will add your corpses to my collection."

- Arun & Vincent from Ignis Court - Train Station: Walla Beach Central- Boarding the train -
Vincent would smile up at the lady, taking out some coins as he would go ahead and buy a caramel apple for himself. Arun seemed hesitant, but he did end up buying one chocolate covered apple from the lady. He would eat it up happily, Vincent chuckling to see Arun eat chocolate and indulge in his tastes when his father was not around to criticize him about it. A little secret that most of the Ignis mages seemed to keep to themselves as well. After they would eat their treats Arun would try to fall asleep as Vincent had brought himself work on the go, working on some more smaller, and more manageable commissions for smaller contraptions. Dangerous ones, but, he was usually careful. Besides, Arun was wearing armor. Arun would open one eye. "If that thing cuts me-" "You will be fine." He reassured. "I have not taken out the fishing line yet!"

Jynn Venas - Vivifica - On the train
As soon as Zion and the child’s interaction ends, an elderly woman in another car announces the presence of a thief. The suspect runs through the group’s car and heads to the next. Jynn immediately springs into action and chases the suspect to the next car. As soon as he reaches the door, his sword, the Raging Leviathan, materializes in his hand. He hurls the blade at the exit of the car. The sword gives off a deep electronic hum as it whizzes by the thief. The weapon finally latches onto the exit, blocking the criminal’s path. For him, moving it is impossible, as it is magically bound to its owner, and will not respond to anyone else’s hands.
Thanks to Jynn’s planned accuracy, nobody was hurt or killed by the sword, but he does take time to tell everyone to keep low. “Everyone stay low!” He pulls out his revolver, and aims at the man. Simultaneously, a blue aura emits from his free hand, and sparks cackle around him. “Alright thief. We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Your choice.”

(That’s all I’ve got for now.)

- Pali, Umbra Court, Battle on the Big Bridge -

Pali was among the first on the bridge to be stopped beyond the common folk, and he closed the book that he put to rest over his equally resting eyes. The demands of the highwaymen reached his ears, and he groaned when it was his turn, this time with a man pressing a gun to his face.

"I've a better idea, sir. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking, but I would imagine that you picked the best carriage out of them all. Step inside, please, and put the gun away."

Illusions exuded from the dark mage, painting him as the image of etiquette and a reasonable man even to the one who cocked the gun at his brainpan. A smile erupted from the man as he stuffed his revolver back into its holster, but the mace still remained out and threatening. He climbed into the carriage and seated himself opposite Pali.

"I have a proposal, or more of a demand, that you would be daft to not consider. You are going to die either way, but I recommend it being an easy, painless death as opposed to one where you try to struggle."

The man, shaking his head as if breaking from a trance, brought his hand back to his holster, not realising that he had it buttoned up again and not at the ready. Pali was prepared and revealed a toothy smile.

"Who the heck do you think you--" was all he could say before Pali reached across swiftly and grabbed his head, slamming it into the front of the carriage. While the dirtbag was jolted, Pali had his next course in action, forming his hands into two L's and looking through them towards his opponent.

"Nazars, try to stop this evil eye," he uttered, darkness unfolding all around him.

Alucard+12.jpg

The screams were chilling, but quiet, and then silence fell within the carriage. Pali exited the coach with blood dripping from the corner of his mouth and a satisfied smile on his face.

Tibarn didn't seem fazed when Saff rejected the beverage, or at least visibly. He'd hoped to engage them in conversation to distract them even further, both from the game and the man's pocket, though Saff's question seemed to do the trick even better.

The dark-haired man flung his braid over his shoulder, before offering Saffron another one of his wild smiles and saying, "A face you probably don't want to remember. That is all you need to know."

The woman, however, seemed concerned. She continuously glanced at a clock on the wall, and then at the door, as though expecting something to come in.

"We should really just wrap this up," she said, gripping the man's elbow tightly. He waved her off, casually setting down his hand and stating. "Bet you don't remember that job you took back in Aeternalis, do you? The one where you were supposed to find some lethal fire mage?" He fingered his cards, though did not do anything with them yet. "I beg the question: did you find him?"

In an instant he rose his gun, resting it upon Tibarn's forehead. Tibarn's hand was in the other man's coat pocket, fingers outstretched and reaching for the tickets within. The man smiled. "Well, I think things have just gotten even more interesting. I gave you a chance to get those tickets fair and square, but I guess now we're just taking what we want."

The drunken man abruptly flipped the table, all of their prizes flung into the air and scattered along the tavern floor. Thankfully other patrons didn't dive for the riches. Instead they lunged for the door, seeing it unwise to be caught in the middle of a fight among seven.

The woman reached into her pocket and pulled out a knife, which she flung at Saff with finesse. It wasn't aimed for any of her vital organs, and was essentially enough to scathe her as opposed to doing her any real harm.

The screams from within Pali's carriage sent panic coursing through the remaining bandits. One man held onto his knife with his entire fist, glancing around wildly, dark hair plastered against his sweaty face. A few other bandits rounded on other carriage doors, though most seemed to nestle in closer to one another, weapons raised in defense. Or, what little defense could be used without magic.

Two of the bandits watched Arkane, curious, as he withdrew his flute, though their jaws gaped in horror at the creatures that he summoned. One's gun hand trembled so hard that he had to clutch it with his other hand to refrain from dropping it.

"What kind of monster are you?!" he shouted at Arkane, attempting to shoot the creature with five bullets.

The blond-haired youth watched as Gerik left the carriage, staying to allow his master to do the talking. He respected Gerik immensely, looking up to him as the father he never had even if Gerik chose not to acknowledge him with any sort of additional respect or endearment. As Gerik addressed the leader his expression shifted, fear creeping into his dark eyes and furrowing his thick brows. The dark bolt flickered across the ground, causing many to cry out and back away, some even fled on heel. It struck the leader's hand as he let out a howl of pain, gun falling to the ground. He spat in Gerik's direction.

"Mage scum," he said. "You all think you're all so high and mighty, but what about those left in the cold? Those mages that you don't accept in your doors, who are accursed by all society? You all sweep your problems under the rug, or blame it out on us. Well guess what? You can still be robbed blind just like we can. Get them!"

Most of them didn't show the bravado as their leader had, though a few did. Some muttered the name "Fyenne," and eventually a girl scurried to the front of their band. Around her wrists were several bracelets, one of which indicating that she were a slave. Her garments were tattered, and she appeared quite frail and thin, no older than eleven years of age. Her olive-skin and dark hair and eyes indicated that she heralded from the South. Her eyes stayed fixated on the ground, never shifting toward the mages. She raised her hands, and dark flames rose around her. They spread out in an arc, separating the majority of the bandits from the mages. They grew in ferocity, and as she brought her palms together several flames shot forth in a blast, two in the direction of Gerik and another toward Arkane, ignoring the summons that he brought forth.

Bandits behind Fyenne loaded crossbows, which they fired simultaneously in the direction of the Umbra court. Two of the other bandits, which hadn't been separated by the flames, drew guns and stood before the mage child, seeming to wish to guard her if the mages wished her harm.

The leader smiled faintly at Gerik. "Forgive me for not introducing ourselves sooner. My name is Gorvin, and we are the Ebon Flame. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Maester. I look forward to reading your name in the obituary."

The thief's gaze follows the blade of Leviathan as it embeds itself in the car door. He gives the handle a hearty tug, only to find that it will not relinquish its grip.

"Well met," the red-haired man said darkly, swinging the bag to open it and placing his hand inside. He stops moving when Jynn points his gun at him, his smile widens.

"The hard way does sound like fun," he said, smile twisted, as he removed his hand from the bag and blew dust into the air. The particles fluttered and glittered in the air, before glowing and creating an explosion. This seemed unexpected to the thief as well, as he was knocked back against the door, blood trickling down his arm. The explosion set two rows of seats on fire, along with a young couple and a man. The car was in a frenzy, many charging for the car that Jynn had just entered through.

It was likely apparent by then that the bag contained the forbidden substance Itika, and its raw use was unpredictable and deadly, especially when used so haphazardly. This man likely had Ignis lineage that even he wasn't aware of, bringing even the smallest spark of magic from the man and pouring it forth into an explosion.

Flames licked the walls of the car, and damage from the explosion had cracked the exterior, yet the train only continued to soar. Things weren't looking good.

The captain considered the Maestra and Mako momentarily before responding. "Well, I certainly do not wish to worry you, Maestra," he started. "My crew has witnessed Balaenas before, and our cannons are ready to launch should the need arise. But, uh, well, you see, a lot of ships have been found abandoned at sea as of late, something of a sailor's nightmare. Naught but corpses are found upon these vessels, left with nasty acid wounds that turned their flesh black. Balaenas were never a thing in the Eastern Sea, though recently there have been reports of them. I haven't seen them myself, but it is best to be prepared.

"Since I never seen one I can't rightly say what they look like, though I hear they are about the size of a human, living predominately in the ocean and can spring up and slither on board your deck. I don't know why they attack us humans when we are minding our own business, but lately they have been. Some say they crave blood, others say they don't like it when you cross their territory. A lot is unknown about them, likely because they aren't usually in these parts."

He bowed once more to Nero, before placing his captain's hat back on his head and cleared his throat. "Well, it is about time we set sail. Please make yourselves comfortable, High Mages of the Somnum Court, and your assistance once more is quite welcomed if you desire to make better time. You will probably be able to best navigate from the stern."

The woman gladly unloaded her goodies and loaded her purse, flashing one last smile around the car before departing. The mages were graced with about an hour to enjoy their goods before their car slowly rolled to a halt, a large banner reading "SANCTUS HEIGHTS WELCOMES YOU" shifting past the window. People outside the train are bustling about, many eager to greet their loved ones aboard the train. Another whistle sounds, acknowledging that the train has arrived in the station and that passengers can begin unloading.

Shiroo yawns, stretches, kicking Arun's leg on accident and mumbling an apology before rising. "Well, that was fast!" he commented brightly, moving past Lev to get out of his seat and reach up to obtain their luggage. "I'll carry this out for you," he said kindly to the lady mage, hoping to win her over by being a gentleman.

He shot a glance at both entrances, frowning as he voiced. "Does . . . anyone know which way the proper exit is?"

The dagger struck her shoulder and then simply melted into a metal ball “How could I forget my hunt for you, Kiev.... that hunt made me a killer. It made me who I am.” . All the tables in a 3 meter radius went loose and fell apart leaving small spinning spheres of metal floating in the air. “Too bad you didnt tell your girl friend about me” the spheres then developed points and aimed themselves at Kiev and his ally.

- Arkane from Umbra Court - The Big Bridge -
The bullets would hit a few of the bodies, only for them to bleed and screech out, still crawling forward. Arkane would merely watch. "The kind that shall put you in your place." He would glare. "You call it a curse because you call it that yourself! It is not the responsibility of the courts to choose what you do with your gifts. The user is!" He screamed. However, soon enough, a new fighter would show. A young girl that controlled an untamable dark flame. Arkane would gasp, looking as the uncontrolled ferocity of it all. "A wild mage." he clicked his tongue. They had only a few options. Either they knocked her unconscious, fought her until she wasted her energy, or killed her. He had never had another mage as a corpse to work with before... "Maester." He spoke, glancing at him. "If the child dies, may I keep her?" He asked, turning back to the fight. As the flames came at them, Arkane would step closer to Geruk before he took out a card from his tarot, bringing it forth as he would have the markings glow. The mark would shine as a trapping curse would surround him. Yet instead of keeping him trapped, it would keep him and the maester safe, the flames flying past and around them as he stood his ground. Arkane would turn to the maester as the curse would wear off, leaving them without a shield any longer. "We have to get rid of the girl should we get past that wall." He said, turning away. He would play his flute once more. They needed to create bodies. They were necromancers. They merely needed to outnumber the living. He would play his flute loudly, the tunes flying across the air in a high pitched shrill. Two more runes would surge as he would summon more abominations. These creatures of dozens of eyes, humanoid insects. He would play a tune, giving them orders. 'Take as many lives as you can.' That was all. The creatures would screech and run off. The basket of bodies screeched as they dragged themselves across the ground and ignored the girl and its protectors, instead heading to the others. They would need to take out as many as they could. The more bodies, the more numbers on their side. Arkane brought out the cards. He was meant to save them for actual emergencies, dammit. More arrows came flying towards them. Arkane raised one card, activating the curse. It would create a mirror like shield, absorbing the arrows before it would spit them right back out at the opposite direction.

The trainride was calm, and productive, it would seem. Arun would stir awake at the small accidental kick, looking up as they arrived. "You slept for most of it." He explained, standing up. He would pick up his shield and sword, Vincent doing the same as he would glance over at Shiroo. "This is the first time I've ever seen you be nice to anyone. Then again with the Ignis court being all boys, it's kind of hard to find some dates, huh?" He asked, teasing at him as he followed. Arun would move past them, leading the way. "This way." He said, pointing at one direction as he followed the crowd. Arun would step off the train, looking around as people were stepping off, meeting with their contacts, and so on. Vincent would step out, stretching as he would look around. "Ooh think we will have some time? I need to test these babies out." He said, holding them out. Arun was quick to keep his distance from Vincent as long as he held that damned thing. "Please keep your distance from me when you hold it." He asked, genuinely concerned as he watched Vincent hold it. "I assure you it is safe."

- Thea Nero - Court of Somnum: Harbor District - Docks -

Professor Nero listened to each and every single word the Captain was saying. From abandones ships at sea, to finding only the corpses of the crew, some with nasty acid wounds. A creature not native to the Easter Sea, but that was showing up more often. What could have lead to that sudden change? That was a question to which the Maestra of Somnum didn't had the answer to. Perhaps she would request an investigation of such problem when she came back. The Council would need to learn of this before it became worst.

"That is very interesting, Captain, I will make sure that a request to investigate this phenomena is made to the Council of Somnum," Nero said while looking at the Captain, "We cannot let this become a bigger problem, and surely we will not let people get hurt, or worst, killed by our inaction."

After his explanation was over, the Captain put on his hat and cleared his throat. He then informed the Professor that it was time for the ship to set sail and that they made themselves comfortable. Also that their assistance would be welcomed if they wished to make a better time. This seemed like a better option now, with the revelation that there could be a possible fight Professor Nero didn't want to risk the ship and the crew.

"Thank you, Captain. I will make sure that our mages are ready for a possible fight. I will be providing a boost to the ship so we take less time and, hopefully, our chances to encounter such creatures is lessened."

With a small bow Professor Nero turned around and gathered those who were on the deck. She carefully explained what the Captain had just told her regarding the Balaenas and their possible use of acid as a means to attack. She also asked them to inform those who were not on deck to be ready for any possible situation, mostly involving combat and the protection of the crew of the Dauntless at all cost. She also explained to the timid mage that if help was needed to perform more water control in case of an emergency, then she would be doing it from the stern and Kagura could be performing some water control from the bow of the ship.

After explaining the situation, Professor Nero walked to the stern of the ship and reached her hand out in front of her, water gattering on her palm until the water formed a simple staff, a staff that she used to knock on the floor a couple of times. Once the ship began to move, it would take a couple of minutes for it to begin to go faster than usual. At the current speed it would take at least one and a half hour less to arrive at their destination, and if Kagura decided to help then maybe they could arrive in half the time.

Zion - Vivifica Court, Train

Zion spun around as the thief ran. Jynn blocked his path, but then the Itika exploded. She cursed and launched forward, hand out. "Light of Daybreak, heed my call! Shield of Light - Dawnguard!" She roared. Hexagonal shields were created, forming a wall between the fire and other cars. "Jynn, open a window! I need to seal this section of the train and cut off it's oxygen supply to choke the flames out!" There was no hope for those caught in the explosion. This was bad. Very bad. She needed to stop the flames....curses, where was a Somnum water mage when you absolutely needed one?!

Kagura - Somunm Court, The Dauntless

Kagura was now shaking. The idea of these maneaters terrified the Somnum Dancer, leaving the white-haired mage to cling to Nero even tighter in fear. "Th....they won't get us, w-will they, P-Professor?" Came the shaky, nervous question. Poor Kaga. Even those around the Water Dancer were ignored, the fear of monsters from the sea eating them overwhelming Kagura's thoughts. Then the talk of speeding up the ship. Nodding, Kagura finally let go and headed to the determined position, and set a stance. As Nero tapped the hull, Kagura began to move in a dance from the East, this one almost a martial art. Concentrating, the Water Dancer worked in tandem with Nero, working to speed the ship up.

Eclaire de Wynter - Umbra Court, Battle on Big Bridge

Eclaire shook her head. "I really...do not know many people from Umbra. Even though I have spent much time here, most shun me for my Vivifica mother. My mother is but a maid...but she helped Everyth. So...she cannot be all bad, if my mother helped her." She smiled at Eleanor. "It...is very nice to met you. Th-there's no need to bow, either! I...I'm not royalty." Eclaire blushed a bit. "And I'm....I'm sure you're nice!"

Then the carriages stopped. Frowning, Eclaire slid out as Pali did, and the mages began to exit....then the girl...the slave girl...was forced to use magic. Eclaire's blood boiled. Holding a hand out, she advanced as a silver and green magitek sword appeared in her hands. "Overture, Last Gift...come, and let us protect." It transformed into gun mode, and she threw her hand out, forming a Magic Circle. "Wings of the Valkyrie, come to me! Take me aloft on wings of sun!"
From her back erupted blue-white aetherial wings. She took off, surveying the battlefield. "The fire mage is a slave!" She shouted. "Try not to hurt her! It's not her choice!" She held her hand to the 'magazine' of the gunblade, focusing. The sound of magic bullets forming let her know she was ready. As what she presumed was their leader approacted the Maestar, Eclaire dived down, stitching a line of gunfire at their crossbowmen. She was heading for Feynne.
Because if anything, Eclaire had a hero complex. She wanted to save people.

And by the gods, would she fight to save this slave. Especially from that creep Arkane, and his necromancy.

(Its actually quite opportune for me to post and get Isabelle in now since wendsday is on the horizon.)

Isabelle: Umbra: Bridge Battle
Isabelle, being in a carriage around the back, slowly stepped out after hearing spells being cast. She was curious as to what the commotion was about. Seeing what appeared to simply be a small fight and nothing more she smiled and drew her longsword leaving her rapier sheathed at her hip. She then made a small cut on her hand and let some blood drip off of her and onto the bridge. “Bigger spells require bigger sacrifices.” She says before snapping her fingers. Clouds began to form in the centralized area of the fight ahead of her. What fell however, wasn’t water... but blood. “Bloody Rain...” This blood then began to not splatter but crash in the form of shards frozen by ice magic. “Flash Freeze” She kept letting her blood drain to fuel the strength of the spell. The spell was sadistic and indiscriminate in nature but she did try to steer it away from those she knew.

- Eleanor Le Doux, Fierce Shadow, Umbra Court - Bridge Battle - Xion136 Xion136

Eleanor soon bore a grin as Eclaire spoke, though it would temporarily fade as she spoke about her Vivifica mother and Everyth, along with the former's courtesy toward the latter, for Eleanor was listening intently, as it brought some degree of insight into Everyth's prior behavior. The cat-eared girl's reply to Eleanor's introduction and assurance that she was nice brought the smile back of course, as not only was she relieved that Eclaire was sure that Eleanor was nice, but also that Eclaire had a truly lovely voice and was quite cute when flustered.

Further chatter would have to wait, for the carriages had stopped abruptly and it soon became clear that a very bold and bare-faced robbery was being attempted on the Umbra Court by the Ebon Flame. Readying herself for combat, Eleanor shrouded herself in her armour and distorted her voice, unsheathing both of her blades as she hopped upon the top of the carriages to prepare for a diving attack, before she saw the slave girl that the Flame produced, who was soon forced to use her magic against the Umbra, which would earn them the righteous fury of Eclaire of all people. Eleanor didn't expect such vigor from the cat-eared girl, never mind such a hero complex. Eclaire demanded that the slave not be harmed and while most Umbra wouldn't care, Arkane especially, Eleanor gestured as she began to run.

"You heard the lady! Watch your fire around that girl!" She bellowed out in a deeper, distorted voice as she flipped off of the carriage and dove for Gorvin, immediately slaying two of his peons upon landing by impaling them, then removing her blades from their bodies and attacking the leader with a flurry of strikes.

"This brazen attack ends now. Nothing you have suffered condones the use of a slave girl to do your bidding, cretin!" Eleanor growled toward the Ebon Flame Leader as Darkness seeped from her armour in a threatening display, as she prepared her next attack, regardless if her first flurry failed or succeeded.

- Gabriel Woods, Bounty Hunter, Partner of Arno - Vita City Tavern - Scrapmaster Scrapmaster

Things grew tense quickly around the table, particularly as Tibarn was threatened by a mysterious man, who cited a previous hunt before acting by pulling out a gun on the accomplice of Gabriel and Arno and regardless of what his partner did, this was the cue for Gabriel to act. Tossing his whiskey glass at high speeds at the man's face, hoping to stun him, Gabriel, still hooded, quickly rose from his seat, his cape billowing menacingly as he motioned for a left cross to the drunken man's cheek, followed by an uppercut to his accomplice, who had just hurled a knife at Saff, assuming the knife thrower to be an ally of the gunman, then would attempt to strike the man hard in the chest with his palm to push him away and would release a small flourish of shadow from his other hand at the knife tosser to blind her, before throwing a punch to try and hit her square in the face.

Gerik smiled a little at his mages went to work. He knew the capabilities of all of them, but a few he had not witnessed in person. This should be instructive and fun. But the big bandit, Gorvin, seemed to have more spine then figured. The arrival of the Fire Mage indicated why. So, a little magic to back up his defiance of the system. Once upon a time, Gerik would have sympathized. Now, he merely yawned at the cliché of it all.
The Umbral Maester raised his hand for another snap when Arkane intervened. His request amused the older mage.
"I think she holds more promise alive than dead." He replied casually.
He snapped, sending a churning orb of dark matter at a bandit, causing deep lacerations when it got close. He eyed Eclaire and Eleanor as the leapt into battle, even as Isabelle's blood rain cascaded down.
"But if she happens to fall, you are certainly free to take what's left. Though, I'd be careful about letting de Wynter seeing it."
With a bow, Gerik used a dark dash to get closer to the bandits. He cast a few more orbs of dark matter out, a few bandits screaming in pain.
"Isabelle!" He called out, snapping up a barrier to hold off a few crossbow bolts. "Keep them boxed in! They started this party, and I don't want them leaving prematurely."

"Oh, lovely." Mako's mouth said before her brain engaged at the Captain's description.
So, sea boogeymen were out and about, possibly in between the Somnum mages and an important meeting to determine the fate of the world. It sounded like an adventure any little kid would love to live. Well, Mako was living it, and felt sick to her stomach.
There was a brief meeting, then Professor Nero and Kagura started using their magic to speed up the ship. Make never got the hang of water. Maybe she could make a portal big enough to move the ship to be helpful? But she had never made a portal that big before. So, she sat near the stern near where Nero and Kagura worked, feeling useless. It didn't help that her vivid imagination was having a field day with the balaenas.
"So, this water thing easy for you?" She asked the two mages, trying to escape her own thoughts. "And am I being too distracting?"
