- Vincent - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: The meeting-
Vincent would nod at the recognition, arms crossed. He gave Maester Gerik a smile at his apology. "I will make sure to catch you up on the developments after you return from your duties, sir." He added. It would seem that he would be having a few people coming with him to help with the investigation. Perfect! The more the merrier, surely. As the meeting came to a close, he would stand up, stretching a bit. He would glance around at his court as he turned to look around. The Umbra Maester would be heading with the Vivifica escort group, he would tell the lieutenant that he would be absent from it...which was a damn shame, because he honestly figured that he would have some information on him. He would take a deep breath as people began to scatter, leaving and gathering to discuss as well as to prepare. He carefully stepped off his seat and down the stairs. Eyes were on Jynn, but Vincent needed to greet Maester Gerik. Well, Diane too. He excused himself in between mages and people to get to them, even as members of Umbra and other Maesters were surely looking to speak with him. "I will make sure to write a report for you." He chimed in, chuckling. "If there is any message that you wish for me to deliver the lieutenant, I can do that as well. Although I believe Diane can do that if you want." He would greet Diane, smiling as he waved. "You can call me Vincent. No need for formalities." He chuckled. "We should prepare ourselves as well. Maybe see the team off before heading over to meet with the lieutenant? Oh where is her again- ah there you are. Vlad, right? Come over here, best we remain together as a team." He mused. Him and two Umbra mages. Now he was not superstitious but here he hoped he would return with his body and soul intact.

- Arun - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: The meeting-
Arun would nod, listening in on those that would volunteer for the aid. Once the meeting was done, he would stand up and walk around in search of those that asked to aid. They might as well greet each other and group up to head out together, and then spread out in aid. He would greet with Incrarose and Anya, seeing that they were the closest due to the court affiliation. "Our fire magic will aid n the creation of materials for building. Any way we can use our magic in a creative way to aid will be most beneficial." He spoke, his mind already running and spinning in circles as he was thinking ahead. He already knew that his earth magic would be used to help rebuild, and help to stable the weak buildings, if they did not as for a whole base structure to begin with. "We should pack what we need, be prepared and head out...should we work as a group or spread out? I feel spreading out evenly across the city will cover more ground. We do not have to be organized, either, but it is not bad to rely on one another..." He whispered under his breath, his mind somewhere else all together.

- Arkane - Umbra Court - Sanctus Heights: The meeting-
And so the grand council came to an end. Things were discussed, surprises were received, and orders were given. A group would escort to Vivifica, another would investigate the automaton incident, and the other would help with the restoration and aid. Thankfully most of it went without much trouble, even with the interruptions from the Vivifica members. All went rather well! Arkane would smile and turn away, as he would head back to his room and get ready for the mission. He would wave past Maester Gerik and pause to glance over at Ignis. That cute Henry boy was going! But Makoto was also going. Arkane was not going to like it, but he would have to go along and be patient. He moved some hair behind his ear and would count his blessings. He paused by Eclaire, turning to look at her. He would think for a moment before patting her shoulder. "Eclaire." He spoke, watching her. He would take a deep breath and sigh. "You are a vital piece of the mission, that much you realize. Your relations to Vivifica are vital for all of this. You better make the Umbra court proud, understood?" Now, it was not that obvious. But this was his way of encouraging her without needing to get too attached or saying sorry for their indifference. Because saying 'I believe in you and your connections. You can do it' was apparently too much for the emotionally stubborn mage.

- Yael - Unaffiliated - Sanctus Heights: The meeting-
The meeting was over, and they would be heading over with a whole bunch of mages. He did not need twenty eyes to see the gleam hidden behind the priestesses' eye. He would place a single paw on Jynn's cheek and gave him a cheeky smirk. "You and the priestess are friends, are you not? Your eyes do not lie. Her eyes do not lie. It seems she cares deeply for you! Oh this should be very fun!" He giggled, chirping in his ferret form as he would rub against Jynn's cheek. "Oh this means I can confuse everyone by becoming a different animal every day!"

Jynn Venas, Vivifica - Grand Cathedral

Suggestions were spreading around the room, and everyone seems to make their final decisions, prompting Mabel to explain her plans for several mages to stay behind to help aid the citizens of Sanctus Heights, before finally accepting those who have volunteered to join her to Vivifica. She was well aware of the dangers the trek would possess, but she will have Jynn, the three maesters, and a handful of mages to keep her safe. Mabel soon turns to the Vivifican mage and thanks him for his cooperation in this quest. Something in both Jynn and Mabel’s eyes flickered, to which Yael picked up on. But almost immediately, Mabel shifted her gaze to the audience, and thanks them for attending this meeting before dismissing everyone.

Yael immediately reacts and seems to know about Jynn’s relationship with Mabel, knowing that the priestess cares about Jynn. The mage’s cheeks redden slightly. He quietly whispers his secret to Yael, using the backdrop of conversations to his advantage. “Yea........ She’s an old friend of mine........” Immediately recognizing his blushes, Jynn’s cheeks return to normal. “Anyway...... we need to get ready. But first........” He quickly looks to Mabel again.

He cannot prepare for the trip until his record from the train incident was cleared. “Priestess Mabel. Is there a possibility that you can clear my name, or at least get the authorities off my back? I don’t think I can properly prepare in the state I’m in right now.”

Once the comments were striking up and gaining speed, Daruk was happy to see that Henry was joining him in visiting the Vivifica Court, and Makoto too. With these two, if things go south, he was sure that things would go well in the end, even if they were essentially twins in terms of giving his eardrums a sharp pang. He did not mind explosive magic all the time, but with these two his ears would never take an explosion well enough without a double-take.

Daruk was equally pleased with the praise from the High Priestess herself and scratched his back elatedly, which was to say that it was in greater pleasure than his usual bouts of scratching his back. He bowed back at Mabel in response to her nod and swiftly rejoined the ranks of his court.

"Well, that settles it! You two are coming with me, and it will be a blast of fun! Gwa ha! Just a little explosive humour and I--uh, oh, darn. I said that wrong. Oh well. Who's up for some shopping? We still have some money saved up for our journey, so stocking up and getting new equipment might be nice. I need a weapon with a little bit more heft to match these newly built muscles of mine. Ha! Maybe I should ask Vincent for a new weapon later. His looked fun to use during the fight."

- Jari Coriander, Somnum Court, with Kagura -

Xion136 Xion136 RikuXIII RikuXIII Elrandir Elrandir

Jari is embarrassed to realise that Kagura was holding on to him all the while, cheeks turning red in shock. Did everyone see? Did the Maestra see? Good golly, did Vlad see? While he kept his calm as best as he was able on the outside, the insides of Jari turned into a melting goop of strong emotions like terror, doubt, and hope.

"N-no problem, Kagura. Happy to lend an arm," he voiced, beating himself up inwardly for not saying anything more. His blush did not die down, so he veered over to a wash bowl lying around in the cathedral unused and still full of water and stippled his face with thrown water droplets. What would he say? What could he say? Kagura was a sweet, wonderful individual, but he did not know if she thought about him as much or as well as he thought about her. And then there was Mako. He liked the girl well enough as well, and she tickled his funny bone and kept making him smile. He moaned from the struggle. Why did he have to face a choice as difficult as this one?

- Pali Noirtier of Umbra and Lev Noirtier of Ignis, joining the investigation team -

Stardustblade358 Stardustblade358 Elrandir Elrandir Scrapmaster Scrapmaster

Pali quietly sat in the back of the Umbra Court again, appearing as just another watcher observe events occur like they did this, and did not move until the meeting was dismissed. Looking around proved to be an easy task, but he seemed especially surprised to spot Lev rise from the Ignis side. She was indeed here. That meant that she was finally on her way to becoming a well-respected mage in the Ignis court, or at least one of the more interested ones. He smiled with pride for both him and for her as he lifted himself from his seat and attempt to walk in her direction.

Lev was clueless that her father took note of her, but she knew that he was there from the way that he stormed out of the room in search of that Vivifica girl who decided to barge in. She wondered if they had a history, Pali and Zion, though her thoughts were more than occupied by something she felt courageous and confident enough to bring to voice.

"Um, Vincent, would you mind too horribly if I join you in investigating what happened earlier with the dragon? I promise I won't get in the way, and I might have a different perspective on things that would otherwise be passed over."

Pali waited on the wings, trying his best to stay quiet. He was curious what Vincent had to say to this.

- Vincent - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: The meeting-
Vincent would be surprised with a familiar face of the Ignis court. Lev. She was always such a soft spoken girl; when the fight with the automaton part of him was worried that she would be squished like a ladybug. When she asked if she could join with the investigation, Vincent smiled and nodded at the young Ignis mage. "Of course. The more the merrier. I am sure that the lieutenant will be happy to have magical help for this." What Vincent did not chime in on was his relief that it would not be him alone with two of the Umbra mages. He looked over to Lev and reached out, patting her head. "We will have to get our heads together for this. Figure out what happened with that thing..." He glanced over at the sight of the two Umbra mages. "Ah. This is Lev! She is a mage of Ignis Court. Lev these two are from Umbra court. Diane and Vlad." He said, introducing the three happily to each other.

Luka-Somnum
Luka left the council room and out of the cathedral at that. She sought out transportation back to Somnum. She had a lot of work to catch up on. Especially with the new information she had gathered. “If its anything like other poisonous material... it has a safe use in some way or another.”

Aquilla-Ignis
The armor mage pocketed the crystal before slowly trying to stand up. She wanted to go see if there was anything she could help with, even in her current state. She began to head towards the door.

Quinn- Vivifica
Quinn was calm and very quiet during the trip back. Her eyes watched over her fellow Vivifican mages like they were pups of wolves in her pack. She couldn’t help viewing them like this. They were all she had.

Isabelle-Umbra
isabelle fearfully continued to hold on for dear life.

Saffron- Unaffilated
Saff looked towards Arno, seeing him as more of a guidance now than anything. The mission was one of great possible danger, but the return reward could certainly be huge. The spinning sphere of wind dissipated as she grew more attentive to the task

- Arno Cross - Viridian Villa - Bounty Hunters -

Well this just got really intense. The mere mention of a job such as this, abducting the High priestess herself, was enough to put Saffron and Arno on edge, albeit Arno didn't show it, he merely squinted his eyes slightly as he looked at the man. Was this truly for the good of Regalia? Usualy job offers came with great many descriptions and offers, idealism was one of the biggest murderers in the mercenary for hire's world, usualy mercenaries would try to act outside of the plans and do their own thing, inquiring the wrath of their employers, most of them ended up dead and buried in shallow unmarked graves, some would escape but they'd need to change their name and identity, all because they didn't read the god damn fine print of the contracts, or extract some more info from who was hiring.

"Hm." Arno mused over whether to take on the job or not, seeing Saff's stare on his peripheral vision. "Quite the job..." Arno commented dryly. "Were it not for your clothes I'd have piqued you for a Vivifican mage, willing to go that far for good." Arno commented on Vaike's mannerisms and speech beforehand, no laughs out of Arno, just pure snark and dryness. "Sarcasm aside Im going to be real with you Vaike. This job is not exactly something me and my crew does, if it is the type of kidnapping I am thinking it is, but we happen to be short on funds..." Arno spoke to Vaike, his tone full business.
"How much are you willing to pay?" Arno asked him directly. "I can't decide for my partners, so I will have to consult with them whether we will take the job or not, can you give us some time to think it through?" Arno asked him. It didn't need to be a day, he just needed to get Gabriel, Tibarn and Saffron to see what they would think. He wasn't exactly a leader, he was just the one with the best poker face. Why do people always mix those two things up?

- Henry Heid - Ignis's Sun - Grand Cathedral -

As the other members of the meeting gave their inputs and offered their own help as well as the organizing of the escort party was pretty much done, in which they ended with quite a large number of escorts for Mabel, which worried him somewhat as VIvifica would no doubt be wary of such a high number...increasing the possibility of attacks. And speaking of VIvifica, they had quite the powerful mages, what they lacked in numbers they had in sheer power and finesse. The best example was Zion just now, seldom do you see a mage that can fly or make hard light AND make wings that can fly!. As well as apparently having the ability to instantly entomb someone in shields completely taking them out of the fight. Just showed him how utterly lacking in power he was.

He was extremely outmatched if he ever needed to fight her, it would just be a one sided stomp with him on the losing side, although seeing her did light up some inspirtation to create hard light of his own, mixed with his own. Hard Sunlight basicaly, said inspiration would be pretty easily readable in his face as he pondered how he could do so. His concentration was taken as Daruk spoke to him and Makoto to come along with him, ignoring the pun the Maester said.

"Sure thing!" Henry spoke, his tone casual and friendly to others as always, but with a bit more etiquette and respect as he spoke to Daruk. "Do you know of any good blacksmiths or enchanters, Maester? I do wish to see if I can make some upgrades to my sword or armor." Henry asked Daruk with a smile on his face. Henry had heard that Sanctus's blacksmiths and enchanters were some of the best in the continent, some surpassing even the Ignis smiths, plus it would be a good bonding experience with his Maester, who trusts him enough to make him an heir.

- Vlad - The Shadow of Somnus - Grand Cathedral -

"Sure thing Watts!" Vlad answere to Vincent's suggestion as Vlad walked to him and did as asked, hoping that someone, anyone, would notice the punt he made with Vincent's name, it was too precious not to do such a thing. "I frankly would expect more mages to be interested in the investigation, turns out most of them have the hots for sweet deary Mabel eh?" Vlad joked to Vincent, letting off some of his humor so people would get a good understanding of what type of man he was.

Before he could do much Lev came in, asking Vincent if she could join. Vlad's smile slowly turned into a grin as he looked at her. "Well Hello." He greeted her, looking at her, then at VIncent, and noticing someone's shadow acting up a bit...someone he didn't exactly know, who was oddly interested in this, maybe the man was related to Lev? he didn't quite know, he didn't know the man's name either so that didn't help matters. Vlad stayed quiet as he waited for Vincent to speak.

- Richter Vanis - Outskirts of Regalia -

Richter was mostly quiet during the boat ride, only really doing small talk with the other mages with nothing really in particular in mind, though he did ask if Elliot was alright alongside Valery, who had noticed him first, he was concerned for the well being of his fellow mages, whom he personaly considered friends even if he was utterly horrible at expressing friendship and trust to others, aside from that, Aislinn's remark about the first court grabbed his attention, did she truly know something? Before he could ask they had already arrived.

The thought of hiring a carriage or something of the sort came up to those who were tired, Richter's stamina was something to behold, he wasn't tired at all, it must have been the forced night's sleep he took back at Miko village, but he felt fine and most of his spent mana had already returned to him.
"The choice is yours, Maestra. I can pay for the carriage if you wish" Richter spoke, offering to pay for it if he had to. "I personaly don't mind walking as we are rather close, that and I am not tired, but considering what we went through, I won't object a carriage." Richter commented, his tone serious but friendly.

Saffron's spinning sphere dissipated, indicating that her attention had indeed fallen upon Vaike. The blond-haired man sat still, keeping his fingers interlocked as his gaze shifted from Saffron to Arno attentively. It was clear that the man was concerned of being overheard, but he held a confidence to his posture despite the job that he was proffering.

"I understand," he answered once Arno confessed his hesitation. Vaike leaned back in his chair, getting more comfortable as he folded his arms over his chest. While the job wasn't yet accepted, he was relieved that he wasn't outright denied. "What I'm asking is certainly a lot to take in, and I know that I'd be putting you at a lot of personal risk. If I wasn't sure that the benefit outweighed that risk, I wouldn't be asking it of you. I'm sure a lot of shady blokes want to kidnap the High Priestess on a regular basis, and you'd be right that my motives are rather different."

He snickered at the mention of Vivifica, shaking his head lightly. "Nah, I'm no court mage with their fancy slogans and rituals. While, to be honest, I think Vivifica has the right idea about some things, I personally want to keep them at arm's length until I see what they're up to for myself. They might have good motives, but they're going about this all wrong. And yet, don't we all have good motives? Heck, I'm probably going about this the wrong way myself, but it's the only way that I can see that might render a different result."

Much of what Vaike said seemed to make sense to himself, though his word choice and tense may have been quite confusing and odd to Saffron and Arno. A different result? To what? However, Vaike sat upright, rubbing his palms on his knees. "So, yeah, payment and all that. What do you guys want? Gold? Treasure? Rare artifacts? I've got quite the treasury. Let's just say I've been collecting longer than most, and I have quite the vault. If it's gold you want, I can pay generously. For starters, hmm . . . . one-thousand gold pieces per person? Sound fair?"

Considering what they had earned for Kiev's capture, this payment would be considered huge! Quite the prosperous job, though his means for paying might be a bit curious at best. Vaike rose from his seat, pulling a sheet of paper from his pocket and handing it to Arno, giving Saffron a genuine smile as he did so.

"You can find me here at this enclosed location, same time tomorrow," he told them. "I'll eagerly await your response, but take your time. I have plenty of it, after all."

The priestess turned to face Jynn when he spoke up, inquiring as to whether his name could be cleared. She gave a slight bow of her head.

"Of course. I will have word sent that you are the heir of Vivifica, and–"

"High Priestess," Javier, the elder, murmured, lowering so that his chin hovered a mere few inches from Mabel's shoulder. "I understand that you believe the boy, and we all wish to, but do you truly believe it wise to clear him of all charges until we are certain that his story is true? We have no evidence to back his claims except his word, and generally one's testimony is not enough to hold against that of several, mage or not."

A look of defeat washed over Mabel as she hung her head. "Then what do you suppose I do, Father Javier?"

He rubbed his dark, thin beard, glancing toward Jynn and meeting his gaze. "I would advise that he have an escort, a trusted mage from a reputable court who may be willing to keep an eye on him and ensure that he does not try to escape or enact any malicious acts–not that I believe you will, Noble Mage, and you must forgive me for exercising caution. After what has happened, you cannot blame me for wishing to be cautious."

A look of sadness washed over Mabel as she met Jynn's eye. "I suppose this would be best, for now. Once I am delivered to Vivifica and all is made well again, I am sure that there will be no problem in clearing your name."

-----------------

And so, it had been decided: the High Priestess Mabel, accompanied by the head of the three remaining courts and their mages, would venture to the far south of Regalia and visit the Vivifica temple. Their journey would be a long one, with perhaps many perils along the way, but Mabel was determined, and the mages prepared. While it was unknown if their words of reason would fall upon deaf ears, they had to at least try, and hopefully bring back the Vivifica court to its former glory, with a new maester, Jynn Venas, in charge.

And if all did not go well, well, that bridge would be crossed when they came to it.

Chapter Two

The burning sun rose over the horizon, the thick smog created by the flames from two days prior was finally beginning to ebb away, allowing the clear blue sky to be seen from above. The birds chirped harmoniously, the breeze still smelling of ashes and yet feeling cool to the touch. Dew covered the grass and shrubbery. It looked to be a day filled with promise.

The mages likely finished their preparations the day before, their weapons freshly sharpened, their linens and clothing cleaned, and provisions were carefully wrapped and stored by the cathedral kitchen staff. The chefs were more than eager to aid the mages in preparing for their trip, especially if it meant escorting their beloved priestess and making the world right again.

The high priestess waited several yards outside of the cathedral's double doors, clad in white robes with ornate markings along the hem and sleeves, a hood drawn over her hair for modesty, even if her brown locks were visible. Beside her stood the stout female elder from before, her silver hair drawn in a tight bun, her frilly robe replaced with simple traveling garb.

Her gaze first met with Jynn, a smile igniting her face before she turned to each of the mages and gave a slight bow.

"Thank you for meeting me here. This is Lady Mia; she will be accompanying us." At the mention of her name, the elder gave a deep bow to the mages, before Mabel resumed. "How would you all like to approach our journey? Have you given it a bit of thought as to how we shall commute?"

Meanwhile, the team restoring the city were likely finishing breakfast, gathering in what was once Central Square to delegate tasks on restoration. Shiroo Chickori was among these individuals, sitting crosslegged on a broken lamppost as he fixated his gaze on the fallen automaton. The mechanical beast was sectioned off, security in place so that none would wander near it. It was reserved specifically for the investigation team. Eventually Shiroo tore his gaze from the monstrosity that destroyed the city, before looking upon his fellow mages, whether they be of House Ignis, Somnum, or Umbra.

"There is a great deal that needs to be done," he voiced, perhaps the obvious. "If I have any say in the matter, I think we should delegate people to certain tasks, or at least have someone direct this project."

The mages aiding Lieutenant Mastiff on the investigation party were invited to meet with him in his office so that they could go over some notes and any leads. Perhaps they were grabbing a cup of coffee on their way, or were running late for a myriad of other reasons.

Far in the south, the Vivifica mages returned to the court after purchasing a carriage. Aislinn refused Richter's coin, though the mages would know that she spent the remains of what she had on their journey. Once they returned the Itika was quickly escorted away to its safe haven (a grotto which was guarded around the clock), and, weary, Aislinn retreated to her room. The next day had arrived, and Aislinn still had not made a grand appearance.

The loyal mage, Quinn, had volunteered to traverse to Sanctus Heights to inquire the libraries about this fabled "First Court" that the wraiths and Miko residents spoke of. She likely was in the halls of the Vivifica Temple, preparing for the journey, recruiting anyone desirous of joining her.

The wanted Vivifica Archmagus of Light, Zion, managed to escape the wishful thinker, Pali, the teleporter, Mako, and the thunder-wielder, Laguna, and with Ronin, Isabelle, and Remy in tow, have vanished. There whereabouts now are a mystery to the mages, though it is likely that their paths will soon cross again.

Lastly, but certainly not least, Saffron, Gabriel, Tibarn, and Arno sat in their set of rooms, door closed and bolted. Tibarn leaned against a dresser, taking a swig from a canteen with suspicious contents.

"So you're saying that this Vaike character wants us to abduct the High Priestess." Tibarn shook his head. "I don't know, man. That sounds like very messy business to get involved with. I've heard that there's a lot of political differences and conflict among the courts right now; do we really want to get involved?"

He paused for a moment, allowing silence to reign supreme before finally adding: "But one-thousand a piece, for starters?! Can you even imagine?! What other riches could this guy have, if he's able to pawn off one-thousand pieces per man without so much as blinking? This job must mean a lot to him if he's willing to do that." Tibarn then turned to Arno and Saffron respectively. "So, you guys met him, too. What did you think? Can we trust him?"

Jynn Venas, Vivifica - Grand Cathedral

It was morning, and all the mages were gathered outside, along with Jynn himself, atop Melstrome. Inpatient, Mel strikes the ground, letting out a few low pitched snorts. Jynn looks down to the gelding. “Mel, settle down. We’ll be leaving soon.” The horse keeps snorting, but stops fidgeting. Mabel managed to get the authorities off his back, and also gave him a place to sleep. He was dressed in the attire he arrived to Sanctus Heights in, all clean and ridden of the soot from the train explosion.

As Jynn looks up, he sees Mabel, dressed in white robes, as well as a hood over her head. She looks towards Jynn, her smile makes the mage’s cheeks redden, he could not get over how beautiful she looked right now. But immediately after she looks away, he stops blushing, knowing that he could get both her and him in trouble. He glances next to her, she was accompanied by one of the elders, Lady Mia.

Mabel finally speaks, asking how the group will commute to Vivifica. Jynn looks down to his horse, and comes up with an idea. “My steed is strong enough to pull a covered wagon. We can load it up with all the supplies we need.”

- Vincent - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: Lieutenant Mastiff's Office-
Vincent ate on the go with a cup of coffee and an apple, running towards the office. Please not be late, please not be late! Vincent almost slipped around a corner, careful not to bump into people. He arrived at the front of the building and would drink up the rest of his coffee before throwing it into the trashcan. He was supposed to meet up with the others. He still had the sketches, and he wondered if the detective had inquired something new over the sigil they found. He fixed himself and entered the building. Upon asking for him they guided him over to the office, where Vincent knocked on the door and entered. "Hello, sir. Good morning. My apologies if I am late." He spoke, closing the door. "How has it been going since first met? Maester Gerik will not be accompanying us in the investigation. He has been caught up with court manners, but multiple mages have volunteered to offer their aid."

- Arun - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: Central Square
Arun would eat breakfast, prepare, and step out to the meeting place; the central square by the automaton. The sight of it alone reminded everyone of the cause of the disaster. Or at least, what everyone considered it was. Upon Shiroo's mention of some form of organization, Arun would nod in agreement. "Yes. That would be best. I believe we should work according to our abilities and how we play provide aid. A group who can work in reconstruction. A group who can work in cleaning and recovery of debris. One that can help in collecting and distributing supplies. So on." He suggested, looking around before raising his hand. "If there are anyone who thinks that can help in reconstruction of buildings and streets, do come with me."

- Arkane - Umbra Court - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -
Arkane had prepared. He created more cards for his deck, he noted down more ideas for his creations. He did not work on actual bodies in the guest rooms; he was better than that. He knew that the staff would be horrified to walk in and find a corpse drying out by the window, and embalming fluid soaked into the wooden floors. He sprayed some perfume on himself, made sure he got everything he needed, and headed out for breakfast. There he spoiled himself with chocolate pancakes, because why not? He had been working hard! He deserved a treat. Afterwards he would step out to meet with the rest of the group that would be heading out to meet with Vivifica. The priestess was already there, and she was bringing an old lady with her. Whatever. If she dies from a stroke along the way Arkane figured that he could keep the corpse- He would cross his arms as they asked for any suggestions on the travel. Wait, they did not plan that? He groaned, closing his eyes for a moment before looking back up. "We can take carriages? The biggest we can take? We are a lot but it is necessary. Should there be any bandits they would not be having the best luck considering how many mages they would be encountering should they try against us." He offered. "I could summon some of my creatures and ride them. But...I highly doubt anyone here wants that. They are not the most hygienic ones." He said, a wary smile on his lips. Jynn offered a carriage for supplies with his own, which aligned with the carriage idea. "If we do not have enough horses, again. I can summon some mounts to pull on them. You would have to mind the smell, though."

- Yael - Unaffiliated - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -
Yael stayed with Jynn, albeit he had a blast with the staff. He transformed into the cutest bunny he could transform into, and a nice maid served him some leftover vegetables. Yael called it a victory before jumping into the trash and eating up the remaining food that was still whole. A few pieces of pancakes, eggs; people were not eating them! Besides he was sure that the mages were pretty healthy and so the food was fine. He would eat his fill before chasing after Jynn outside the cathedral. He would reach over to Jynn in the shape of a ferret, panting for breath as he crawled up his clothes and onto his shoulder. "I can transform into something big enough to carry us. Maybe make the travel faster. But I would need even more food, and that is tiring." He spoke, talking to Jynn specifically as he curled up on Jynn's shoulder. "I have not transformed into a dragon in a long time. Besides. I do not think that old lady over there would survive the trip."

- Thea Nero - Court of Somnum - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -

After the meeting in the cathedral, Nero told her mages the options of what they could do. They could stay and help around the city, help with repairs, investigate the automaton's sudden attack or, in Luka's case, return to the court. Each one had a different goal in mind, and she was proud of all of them. That whole day she spent her time going around the city of Sanctus Heights, buying potions and tonics, healing those who she saw had been hurt in the fires, telling them that help was coming.

The whole day came to an end rather quickly, the Maestra falling asleep rather quickly as she was exausted from healing many people. Tomorrow was the day the courts would escort the High Pirestess back to Vivifica.

--------------

When the first rays of the sun's light were finally seen, Nero was already dressed and having a cup of tea in the dinning saloon, her plate had no food left and it was quikcly taken away by one of the servants. After finishing her cup of tea, Nero took a look at her pocket watch before standing up from her seat, picking her suitcase and calmly exit the cathedral. The High Priestess was already there, along with one of the elders, some of the other mages were already there too.

"Good morning to each and every one of you," Nero said with a smile and a small bow, "High Priestess, I hope you are ready for the journey ahead."

The High Priestess introduced the elderly woman, Lady Mia. Nero had seen her a few times before, but she never really interacted with her. She was surprised when the Priestess informed them that the elder was coming with the group. Was it for the High Priestess's safety? or was there another motive? Mabel then asked what would be the best way for the group to travel to the Vivifica Temple.

"Carriages sound like a good option. There are also the trains, but I fear that after the events that happened a couple of days ago, they will not be operational," She said calmly while looking at Mabel," I could be wrong, but at this point I think carriages are the best choice."

- Incarose Vassar - Court of Ignis - Sanctus Heights: Central Square

Incarose had a hard time trying to sleep that night. She kept dreaming of the fires around the city and, obviously, this made her go back all the way to the worse day of her life. These nightmares came to a stop at some point when, in her dreams, Maestra Nero, Anya and Arun helped her, it was as if a huge weight had been lifted from her shoulders, and so the nightmares stopped and she could finally sleep. She woke up early in the morning, something that she was used to after being on the road for a few years. She dressed herself and stared at her own face in the mirror. Something was different, but it was hard to know what when you saw the safe face each time you looked in the mirror.

She went for breakfast and noticed some familiar faces from the day before, the servants asking and delivering whatever she wished to eat. Once she was done eating she took a look at the mirror and, after realizing that she could be late, she quickly left the cathedral, bowing at Maestra Nero and the rest of the mages along the way. She found a familiar face once she made it to the Central Square, she found Arun and another mage who she did not recognized. She agreed with both Arun and the other mage, people were needed to perform different tasks, and while she couldn't really use her magic that well, she had other things she could to to help.

"Since, you know, I don't have much control with my magic, I think I can help with the distribution of supplies." Incarose said at Arun and those who were present.

- Diane Courbeau - Court of Umbra - Sanctus Heights: Lieutenant Mastiff's Office-

Diane had spent the rest of the day and night wandering the cathedral, something deep inside her mind was trying to remember the first time she had been to the place, but hard as she tried nothing would come up. Was she forgeting her days before the contract? She was no longer "human" even when she looked like one. Her purpose was to serve and help Umbra, which she gladly did. She would stare at the moon once everyone was gone to bed, keeping guard against any possible threat to Umbra.

When the morning came, she noticed Vincent leaving the cathedral in a hurry, probably afraid of being late to talk with the Lieutenant. While Vincent would take the most direct path, she would follow him while staying out of sight, something that she was very good at. The moment Vincent went inside the building, she trailed behind him, barely making any noise.

"Maester Gerik has offered his help to the High Priestess, and will be unable to help with the investigation. Instead, I will be here to take his place," Diane said in a monotone tone, "I am Diane Corbeau of the Court of Umbra, and I am ready to help in whatever way I can."

Jynn Venas, Vivifica - Grand Cathedral

Yael soon catches up to Jynn, and climbs onto his shoulder, still in ferret form. From the panting, it sounds like he trying to keep up with Jynn. The mage quietly apologizes. “Sorry Yael. I had to skip breakfast today.” Yael makes a possible suggestion to turn into a dragon to make the commute faster, but Jynn declines. “I appreciate your idea, but I don’t want to scare the group, or my court.” He looks to Mabel. He cannot shake the feeling something will happen to her. Perhaps Yael can help him keep her safe. “Yael. I cannot help but feel that something will happen to Mabel. I know this might be a huge responsibility, but I hope you can help me keep her safe. You too, Mel.”

- Daruk Mordem of Ignis, meeting up with Team Vivifica (better than Team Jacob) -

Previously, while he was still with Henry and Makoto, Daruk was more than happy to have pals around to show around, especially when the subject revolved around weapons.

"My boy, do I have places to show you! There's four places to go to if you're ever in need of good weapons and armour, three of which do upgrades and two of which do enchantment. All Things Smashy and Shieldy is perhaps the greatest one overall and are known for, well, all things smashy and shields. They are the best bang for your buck, but the Emporium of the Arcane enchants everything with runes and sigils. They don't sell anything but their services, though. He's a retired Umbra mage, not a smith.

"I'm getting ahead of myself with all the excitement. Let's talk on the way!"

Placing a meaty hand around each of the two and tugging them close, Daruk bellowed out a string of laughs and shoved them onward. His purchases, at least for himself, involved a pauldron and sleeve of nice and sleek steel, and a top-of-the-line paint infused with reeking chemicals and herbs. If asked why he would even buy such a thing, he would smile and say, "You'll see."

++ ++ ++ ++ ++

The Ignis Maester was a little saddened that people did not decide to take the commuter trains. Why was this so? It worked so well on Ignis' ride here, and he was very interested in seeing the terrain fly by without having to use earth magic to move the ground beneath him. The act of shrugging tore him away from stroking his slight beard.

"Carriages are fine, but I prefer trains. They offer snacks, nice seating, and the rush of moving air! Since when do horses and carriages do that? Hardly ever as a passenger, that's what, so if you decide on this I'll act as a driver. At least then I'll get two of those things."

- Jari Coriander of Somnum, alongside Team Restoration -

Jari spent some of the day after the meeting with the High Priestess working with relief efforts in an effort to restore morale and supplies to those who have had lost their lives and others close to them in the blaze. It was a struggle to someone as sensitive to negativity as Jari was, especially when some of those he served with emergency supplies being driven to extreme sorrow, but some rewarded him with smiles and thank-yous, and that was more than enough. He realised that he was a philanthropist at heart. While he usually did not have the gumption to go this far out of his way to help people -- even the rush inside the building when the fire broke out was odd for him -- he wished he could do more, and tomorrow he would get his wish.

After half a glass of his favourite wine and a fitful rest, this time choosing plainer pyjamas than last time, he sauntered downstairs and gathered up breakfast of blueberry muffins, a handful of neat fruits, and every kind of cheese he could find or request. The food was glorious and invigorating, and soon afterwards he made his way into the courtyard, feeling much more like himself. And then he found Shiroo among everyone. He tried holding back his childish desire to rush at his cousin and hug the snot out of him, and while it was challenging he was successful throughout everyone's decision on where they were going to help.

"I'll help Miss Incarose with the distribution of supplies," he uttered, bubbly from the joy of having someone with him. "I don't know any healing magics except resuscitating people with heart problems, and I can't move earth and other stuff, but I'm good at delivery."

- Lev Noirtier of Ignis, meeting up with Team Investigation -

Lev looked about for some time, having arrived a bit before the meeting time but not seeing anyone pass her en route to Lieutenant Mastiff's office space. She felt odd with her situation, if not in general. She did not want to be the first to step inside, and soon after waiting this long she breathed out a sigh as Vincent and later Diane wandered into the room. Third? She can live with being third, but not first for some reason.

She entered as normally as she could, stepping inside and closing the door behind her. Perhaps this was not the most brilliant thing to do in regards of what will be an active meeting, but it felt correct. At least this way the meeting will be more private, right?

"Sorry for being late," she replied quietly, smiling up at her audience as she un-sashed her scabbard and placed her sheathed sword to the side of her chair. "Lev Noirtier of Ignis Court, formerly of Umbra Court. A pleasure to meet you, Lieutenant, and you officially, Diane. You were an admiration from afar for me. As for Vincent, I already know him."

She tossed a wider smile his way than what she gave the others before seating herself by her sword, trying her best to maintain an air of composure among all of these older individuals.

((Pali went off to Four Courts Epcot.))

{Gerik Lockford - Umbra Court: Sanctus Heights; Meeting}
Gerik gave a polite bow to Mabel after thanks to him.
"You poor child." He thought. "You have no idea what you are getting into. And to make matters worse, I don't know either."
The Umbral Maester moved to retake his seat as he considered what he would need to prepare before tomorrow's departure, but what intercepted by VIncent.
"I appreciated that, Vincent." Gerik said, shaking the Tinkerer by the hand. "I look forward to seeing what you find."
He turned to Diane.
"Come by my quarters later this evening and I will you get you some writs to access what ever court resources you need." He explained. "Any expenses, put them under the Cooperation account. One of the clerks will go over it with you. You have full discretionary powers in how to proceed with this investigation. Now, if you will both excuse me."
The Umbral Maester left Vincent and Diane to their assembling team. Diane would recognize mentions of the "Cooperation account" was code, indicating she may be dealing with one of Maester Lockford's deep cover contacts in one of the other courts.
*****The Next Morning: Sanctus Heights; In front of the Grand Cathedral*****
Gerik came out to join the High Priestess's entourage looking well rested and in good spirits.
"Good morning, your grace!" he greeted with a smile. "Good to see you up, Daruk. A pleasure as always, Professor. Ready to go, Arkane?"
He beamed as the others discussed the mod of transport.
"I've always preferred carriages to the train." He interjected. "Much more versatile."

{Anya Alighieri - Ignis Court: Sanctus Heights; Meeting}
Anya seemed distracted as Arun spoke of their restoration efforts for the Heights. She was trying to digest what was going on. She wanted to go with Mabel and sort this out peacefully, but she was hear. Oh well, it would be better for Incarose. Some constructive rather than destructive use of her magic would be good.
"I have a purpose here." She thought. "It's fine."
Still, she wanted some answers. And for that, she would need to see Shaw.
***Meeting with Shaw***
During the night, Anya snuck through Sanctus Heights to a safe house she and Shaw had set up. She took her time making her way there, making sure she wasn’t followed. With everything that had happened, she needed answers and Shaw would have them. After a final check to make sure she was unobserved, she opened a door in a back alley and slipped in.
As soon as Anya closed the door, it was covered in a dark field. As she turned, she saw the whole room was encased in dark matter, preventing prying eyes. In the center of the room, Gerik Lockford half sat on a table. On the table was a bottle of liquor and two glasses. He raised an eyebrow at Anya, then picked up the bottle and a glass. He focused on the glass a moment, then set it down. He flicked the top off the bottle and took a long drag. After he was done, he offered the bottle to Anya.
“You look like crap, Shaw.” The Phoenix Bearer said, taking the bottle and a seat.
“And here I was about to say you look radiant as ever.” Gerik replied with a chuckle.
“Damn, should have let you lead.” She teased before taking a swig.
Handing back the bottle, Anya’s smile faded.
“How bad does it look?” She asked.
“Bad.” Gerik replied before taking another turn at the bottle. “The whole business with Vivifica stinks. And that was before the incident in the main square. I’ve become aware of a new person of interest named Invidia. He orchestrated an attack on my caravan as we came here.”
He put down the bottle and pulled a package out of his coat.
“Here’s a report I had Micah make up. It will have all the details.”
Anya took the package and tore it open.
“You think this Invidia is involved with the other events?” She asked as she leafed through the reports.
“It can’t be discounted.” Gerik answered, picking up the bottle again. “Too many coincidences not to be suspicious. And with our High Priestess determined to be noble, we may be dancing to an unseen conductor’s tune.”
“If you are this worried, why haven’t you warned the other Maesters?” The Phoenix Bearer asked.
The Umbral Maester fixed her with a long, penetrating stair.
“Oh.” Anya replied, sitting back heavily in her seat.
“That’s why I’m telling you all this.” He continued after another pull from the bottle. “I need people I actually trust primed and ready to act.”
Anya heaved a sigh. Who knew trying to contain a mage with cursed blood would be the easy part of her week.
“So, what do you want me to do while you are gone?” She asked.
“Keep your eyes open.” He replied. “I know you are committed with the rebuilding efforts, but help the investigation as much as you can. Diane is a good agent. Go to her if you dig anything up. She’ll be working with one of yours, a young man named Vincent.”
Anya took a moment, then nodded.
“He’s solid.” She said. “He’s a tinkerer. This investigation is probably just another nut to crack for him.”
Gerik gave a nod and moved to take another drink. A look from Anya reminded him he had been hogging it. With an apologetic smile, he handed it over.
“Then we’ll have to trust them to proceed. Just try to help as you can. Diane will know the codes in case you need to make contact.”
Taking a drink, Anya mentally pictured Diane. She was a bit creepy, but some of Shaw’s friends were like that. And considering his...history with undead, she must be alright.
“You know, we really need to meet on happy terms.” She finally said. “Chew the fat? Maybe a night on the town? You know, normal people stuff?”
This got a laugh from Gerik.
“My dear, when has our relationship ever been normal?” He asked, some of his usual playful nature reassessing itself.
With that, the light flickered, went out, then relit. Anya found herself alone, with Gerik and his dark matter gone.
“Never has.” She said wistfully before taking another drink.
*****Next Morning: Sanctus Heights; Central Sqaure*****
Anya moseyed out into the Central Square sipping some tea as she looked over the damage. This was the problem with a big battle. Someone always had to clean it up. She joined the other mages who volunteered to Restore the city. She smiled at Arun as he took charge of the situation. Incarose volunteering for supply distribution seemed best for now. The Somnum boy volunteering to help her was interesting. Did they know each other from the journey here?
"Well I'll leave you two love birds to that, I'll help with reconstruction." Anya pipped in, heading over to join Arun.

{Mako Koyl - Somnum Court: The next day in Sanctus Heights}
Yesterday was a blur Mako was still trying to process. There was an important meeting, she made a fool of herself in front of a cute boy, and there was a fight. There was also something about building teams to complete tasks. She didn't follow it all and she was afraid she should have. There was suppose to be some rebuilding efforts, that seemed safe.
Wondering out of the cathedral, Mako considered how she acted like a fool concerning Jari and Kagura yesterday. What was she, a teenager? It was this damn uncertainty about what she was doing here. It was making her second guess everything. Acting like a child. She should just go up to him, say hi, maybe apologize for being a little standoffish last evening, and move on. She was all set with this plan till she was about to enter the main square. She looked out at the gathering mages, seeing Jari's face among them.
"This will be easy." Mako told herself. "Just go, ask to work with him. If it works out, great. And if it doesn't, that's okay too. It's easy peasy."
"Or would be, if you weren't a coward." She thought as she turned and went another direction, away from the Central Square.
A few minutes later, Mako turned up in Lt Mastiff's office.
"Sorry I'm late." She said, masking the inner turmoil well. "Heard this was where people did investigation things. Do I need to sign a log sheet, or something?"

{Valery - Vivfica Court: Regalia}
The trip back for Valery had not been unpleasant, but it had left her alone with her thoughts and that wasn't always a good thing. Something about this...First Court unnerved Valery. She couldn't help but think of how she felt out in the valley. So alien, yet familiar. And, as always when she was left with too much down time, she thought of her missing brother. Davide had been missing now for 18 years. She should give up, mourn him properly, and lay him to rest. But her hazy memories of him were of someone who stopped at nothing to help her. How could she just give up? She had been preparing to follow a fresh lead in Sanctus Heights when the Maestra started having the dreams. Even when it came to her brother, duty came first.
Now, the morning nice and fresh, the Vivfica Warden marched through the halls of the Temple to find Quinn. The mage was leading a group to Sanctus Heights for the library to reaserch the First Court. Valery had unfinished business there as well. If she was lucky, she could do both. As she strode through the halls of the temple, she reached up and snapped near her familiar.
"Quinn!" the parot called out for it's mistress.

- Henry Heid - Sunny Ignis - With the others to Journey to VIvifica -

The day before was quite hectic and interesting, Daruk had taken Henry and Makoto shopping! Henry himself didn't know much of Sanctus's stores, blacksmiths and enchanters. All Things Smashy and Shieldy, aside from the interesting name, was supposed to be a good place for acquiring weaponry and The Emporium of the Arcane offered enchantments and everything an aspiring mage could ever want. Henry had quite some coin saved up from his work in Ignis. Aside from contemplating who named these shops he would follow Daruk along to check on what was offered.

He first went to the weapon smith, All Things Smashy and Shieldy, silly name but the selection was quite impressive. And while he was browsing the weapons and armors offered a thought occurred to him. 'If I ever end up fighting a mage like that flying VIvifican one, who seems to utilize shields and barriers to defend herself, I don't have much in the way of breaking through with just explosions, and when there is no way for me to bypass the armor my only choice is to...break through'. He pondered. "Armor is also a big problem, my sword while heated does pierce armor but it still pales in comparison to a crushing weapon...' It was then that he noticed a sizable one-handed hammer in the selection with the face of an eagle in the back and a couple of spikes in its frontal surface.

Something about that hammer called to him, and the one overseeing the shop saw it almost immediately. Quickly offering an estimated price offer, and at the mention that Henry was an Ignis mage, a rather decent discount was given to him. The moment Henry paid for the hammer and held it in his hands another thought clicked. His sword was enchanted to be summonable by him and only him. Maybe the Arcane Emporium could do the same to the hammer.

And his wish turned to truth as the Retired umbra mage laughed at the rather easy enchantment Henry asked for, make the Hammer summonable by him, just like his sword. And with a few Umbral shenanigans and sigils and runes being imprinted onto the hammer the hammer would not only attuned itself to Henry's magic but also vanish and reappear in his hand instantly. Henry left the store with a smile, seeing as Daruk got what he wanted and Makoto probably did so too.

Destiny_Hammer_of_Sol_reference.jpg

A deadly bludgeon and crushing weapon, effective at blowing through armors and barriers alike, the enchantments done to the hammer have allowed Henry to infuse it with his elemental magic, as well as summon it to his hand much like his sword.

And here they were, about to head out with the Priestess and a newly introduced Elder, who looked rather...old, the type to keel over in the middle of casual affairs type of old, but Henry decided to not think about such horrible thoughts and instead follow along everyone. Seeing most people prefer carriages as opposed to trains, and Daruk defending trains. They were a big enough group to be able to use both.

"Seems like the general consensus is on carriages then. As much as i'd love to kick back and enjoy the train's comfort, it might be best to use carriages as well, cutting through the main roads instead of railtracks." Henry commented thoughtfuly,

"And if we are to accomodate Jynn's horse, then carriages are the best possible option." Henry agreed with Jynn on that part. Before getting to the ugly part of the commentary "Even if we have to resort to Arkane's creations to pull the carriages, which would probably draw more attention than horses." He finished. Folding his arms. "Then again no ammount of thieves and bandits would dare to try and rob us in a party this large."

"Ah Gerik, he seems like a busy man." Vlad's voice could be heard from somewhere within Mastiff's office, and soon enough a figure began to spawn...from Vincent's shadow within the room, comicaly already standing up and arms folded as a faint glint of red flashed in Vlad's eyes as he finished the action, and he was succesfuly inside the detective's office alongside Vincent. "Always secretive, attentive, and with that weird woman always by his side." He continued.

Cutting straight to the chase he extended a hand to Mastiff, offering a firm handshake. "Name's Vlad, im here to help, nice shadow by the way." Vlad introduced himself in his own quirky way. Before going back to business.

Before Vlad could speak further Mako had just entered the room, offering to help the investigation as well. A grin formed on Vlad's face as he saw her. "Hey there Mako...didn't expect to see ya here!" He greeted her with a teasing tone.

"He doesn't look like your normal mage." Arno commented, having just finished his morning ciggarete and throwing it to the trash with a deft flick of his finger. "Good reward". Arno spoke, his tone cold and business-like as always. "Considering the risk." He added.

"Its less about trust and more about ensuring we get paid." Arno answered Tibarn's question. "We see he is up to something suspicious, or that his intentions are evil towards the Priestess, we bail." Arno began to explain his thoughts on it. "Additionaly, avoid harming her." Arno spoke, pulling out his sawed off shotgun from its holster, opening it and checking it as he spoke. "We need disguises." Arno suggested. They were risking their lives, careers and well being should they accept this mission, if they could put up worthwhile disguises, probably in clothings and whatnot they could hide their identity from the mages, plus if they do it quick they can minimized the risk. After all...just like a bank heist he used to do back in the day. "And codenames, can't risk our identity revealed". He motioned his shotgun backwards and forward, resulting a satisfying click as the shotgun closed. Arno remained silent afterwards as he awaited for everyone's input.

- Vincent - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: Lieutenant Mastiff's Office-
And so they came. One after another. He almost screamed when Vlad came out of bloody nowhere. Did he come out from his shadow just now?! It was just him and two Umbra mages. Not that he had anything against them at all! But he felt that he needed someone to balance it out- "Lev! Hey! There you are." He waved, watching her arrive. "You are just in time. Make yourself comfortable." He watched her introduce herself and take her seat. Mako was here, too! Oh thank goodness the numbers got better. "Hello, Mako." He chimed. From somnum court, right? He thought, if he could remember. Regardless, they had a pretty diverse group; at least one from every court minus Vivifica for obvious reasons. He turned to the detective, smiling sheepishly. "Seems we have a pretty good group here, detective! Some of the best from every court at your aid!"

- Arun - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: Central Square
Arun listened at everyone as they all chimed in to what they could do to help. He clapped his hands together and would nod. "Understood. We can separate in groups, then! Incrarose and Jari will help with distribution. Anya and myself will help in reconstruction. Shiroo, it is up to you what you will do and who you will join. Now then, just because you are in your area does not mean you cannot do more. If you see a chance to help more than your original duty, you are encouraged to. If you require help, do not be afraid to ask. Should there be an emergency where you require help from the others..." He paused for a moment before snapping his fingers. "We will use a flare! Um..." He pointed at the sky. "Shoot something into the sky, so we can see where you are. A firework, or maybe a water firework? Something we can see. Should make it easier than running around trying to look for one another..." He smiled happily. "We can meet here at the end of a hard day of work. The people of Sanctus Heights have suffered greatly due to this. We have a group leaving for Vivifica, and another investigating who and what happened that created this disaster. We shall be the one to help them regain their faith, their pride, and encourage them to keep walking. Any questions?"

- Arkane - Umbra Court - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -
Arkane scoffed a bit when he heard Henry suggest that there would be no bandit that would dare to attack the party. "You kidding? We got attacked by bandits on our way here as it was. Prick got me in the shoulder before a certain someone cut his head off." He muttered, rubbing his shoulder a bit. That hurt! However, he still felt rather flattered that Henry was up to the idea of having his creations drag around the carriages. He was almost swooned. Usually people outside the Umbra courts were not very into his creations, for obvious reasons. Gerik arrived and Arkane would nod. "I am prepared for the incoming journey." He reassured, hand on his hip. "We are still trying to decide on transportation is all. I would suggest if we use my creatures I summon them outside Sanctus Heights. The last thing people in this city wish to see is...more death." He admitted. Was he feeling pitiful for them? Yes, probably. But he did not want people to puke down the streets while they walked past, either.

- Yael - Unaffiliated - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -
Yael would listen. He was certainly concerned about Mabel. Maybe it was a sixth sense, or just his bad luck telling him that he was going to bring that along with him for the trip. "Well, she is a priestess. Not a mage nor a warrior. I do not think any of them were meant to even leave Sanctus Heights, much less for something that could be considered dangerous as encountering a rebellious court." Yael sighed, patting Jynn's cheek in some sort of comfort. "If it bothers you, then I promise that I will do whatever it takes to make sure she does not get hurt. I do hate seeing good lives being lost unnecessarily. Especially young ones." He turned to Jynn, staring at him. "But know this well, Jynn. She has chosen the risks that come with her leaving Sanctus Heights, and heading into dangerous territory. She has responsibility in this too. That decision alone takes bravery. Do not underestimate her, either." He added before licking Jynn's cheek. "Keep your head up. You have a whole group of mages trusting on you."

Eclaire de Wynter - Umbra - Preparations to leave

Eclaire had gone back to her room quietly. Having turned in early, she had plenty of time to pack and ensure she had everything she would need for her homecoming. Sighing to herself as she trudged out towards the carriages, she avoided both Mabel and most of the other Maesters that were coming with them. She already was on thin ice with how her family lines were, and with how much she tried to fit into Umbra. Putting her things away...she slowly let her hands drop. Standing there, in front of the carriage, was thinking...and then she turned and headed to the infirmary.
"Fyenne?" She called, entierng.

The shy dancer had gotten up early. Starting the day off with the normal tea and walkthrough of the Crimson Lotus, a dance Kaguya had passed on, Kaga, clad in a cloak covering the somewhat showy dancing outfit beneath, scurried to the carriages...and Nero was with Mabel. Flushing with both shyness and nervousness, Kagura approached, weaving through everyone around them.

"P-Professor Nero? I...I came to see you off!" Kaga managed to say.

Sure the Vivifica guy has a horse, but trains are so much more fun!" She sighed. She, of course, only caught the tail end. "And really, why would anyone try and rob a bunch of mages? After managing to escape Laguna by erecting a shield wall that he'd slam into unprepared, she managed to get Isabelle to safety. Retreiving Remy and Ronin, she led them quickly through the streets towards the vast warehouse district, where the Archmagus deigned to hide them in a somewhat dilapidated building near the water. Making a sort of nest and settling them all in, she had left in the morning to get some food...and as she approached the warehouse and opened the door, she felt something. Spinning around, Zion was tackled through the door and against a stack of empty crates. Taken by surprise, she was about to react when her assailant planted a very passionate kiss on her lips that caused her to go limp. Pinned, she slightly shivered before the kiss was ended, Zion not panting.
"Y....you...could have...said hi." She mumbled, chest heaving, cheeks flushed red. "A...and not...in front of them." She weakly gestured to her compatriots.

Eden Xion Silvius Takemikazuchi wiped her lips with the back of her hand. "And miss the chance to make sure you still are mine? Never." She retorted...before flicking Zion's forehead. The Archmagus yelped and crouched down, holding her head. "What was that for!"
"You're hiding in a warehouse by the water with random people while a huge amount of mages are both fixing abroken city and about to go into carriages. What the hell did you do, Zi?"
Zion looked away, pouting. "Told the elders if they tried and hurt Vivifica, we'd consider it a declaration of war."

Eden facepalmed. "For the love of..." She flicked her hand. "Whatever. Go call Aislinn." She picked up the bag of food and began tossing it at the others. "Hello. I am Eden Xion Silvius, formerly Eden Xion Silvius Takemikazuchi of the Umbra Court, Heir to House Takemikazuchi. If that means anything, great. If not, then I wasted breath on habit." She rubbed her forehead. "Sorry if my idiot wife got you into trouble. She's a good person, just impulsive. Self-righteous." She looked at Isabelle. "if she flirted with you, and you were annoyed, let me know and I'll flick her again."

“Flirted with me? Wait, did you say House Takemikazuchi? Ive heard that name before. During my studies of the Umbral Houses. My name is Isabelle Cinque. Second in line to the Cinque name in the Umbra Territory.” She slowly bowed.

Oberon quitely blended into the other mages in her court, helping where needed, even if by simply carrying items for people. It was by mere luck the Valery caught her by the temple entrance. She looked like she was about to head out into the woods. Her eyes were tired and she stopped for a moment. There were few people who would seek her out on their own. She turned to Valery. Not saying a word, simply waiting for a reason.

The mage knight received her information from another Ignis mage and made sure to see the Maesters off. She looked better already. Thanks to the residual healing magic in the gloscan.

“My names Jasmine if you ask.” She smirks already holding a code name for herself. “As for disguises.... i think simply masks and cloaks should be enough. Unless you are wanting to go all out” she replied to Arno

The High Priestess brought a hand to her chin, hearing out the suggestions of the mages while discussion of their mode of transport took place. She turned her gaze over to the elder, who merely shrugged and adjusted the satchel on her shoulder. "Don't look at me; I am only here for some adventure and to keep you out of trouble," she said, voice hardened perhaps through her long years of servitude, but her words weren't without mirth.

"Very well," Mabel said at last. "It seems that the major consensus are carriages, which I will consent to as well. While I may be a stranger to traveling, I understand that a train would be limiting to our mobility, and with the current state of emergency that Sanctus Heights is in I am uncertain on how soon another train is departing for the south. An exception would likely be made for us, but I'm not one wishing to have special treatment when others are in need."

Her gaze fell once more to Jynn, watching as Yael the ferret scurried over and perched itself on Jynn's shoulder. She blinked, watching him for a moment, before turning her attention onto the others as well. "Gathering the horses and preparing a caravan should be quite simple." She turned her head toward Arkane. "While I appreciate your offer immensely, I am uncertain about our caravan attracting unnecessary attention. Your steeds, while fine and not needing sustenance, would likely turn a few heads, and would indeed mark us as a mage assembly. It is perhaps for the best if we remain anonymous on the road, especially if you say that the Umbra court was once attacked on their way over to Sanctus Heights. Lady Mia, would you be willing to inform our ranch hand to make the proper arrangements?"

The elder nodded, handing the priestess her bag of belongings before turning to the other mages with a twisted smile. "And don't you get any funny ideas about leaving me behind. I may be old but I'm not that senile!" Perhaps she had detected some of the shuffling feet and awkward stares in her direction, or maybe she smelt the negative vibe about her appearance. Mabel's expression shared nothing as the elder departed, though fell in line with the rest of the mages, in time falling alongside Jynn in particular. She brushed her fingers along his, offering him a radiant smile before moving toward the front of the party, standing between Nero and Gerik.

--------

An hour later there were three carriages prepared, each tethered to two horses finely groomed and well-maintained. They would find that Melstrome had been prepared with a much smaller carriage, more akin to a canopied wagon. All of the mage's luggage and supplies were mounded in the wagon, though many preferred to keep their weapons on their person as opposed to settling them in. Mellark considered his javelin for a long moment before giving in a fresh twirl, keeping it close as he opened a door to one of the carriages and offered a slight bow.

"Ladies first, as always," he said, tone smooth as he offered a smile at Professor Nero. His gaze shifted toward Kagura, whom he initially thought was going to be traveling with them until she asserted that she came to say goodbye. He took a step toward his fellow Somnum mage, extending a hand toward the water dancer. "It is good on you to stay, Miss Kaga," he said. "Your healing dances will help mend both the body and soul. Sanctus really needs you at a time like this. You will do well. I believe in you." Afterward he stood up straighter, watching as the mages chose their carriages with a look of mild disinterest. It seemed he preferred to be doing something else, perhaps sleeping.

The High Priestess hoisted herself into one of the carriages, Lady Mia taking a seat alongside her. Each carriage could seat between four and six people. Once the mages chose their carriage and assembled, they would begin to roll away and out of Sanctus Heights, the cathedral shrinking further in the distance as they rolled.

The redheaded youth jumped up as Zion was attacked, grasping a rather large vase that he found laying haphazardly at the entrance of the building and prepared to chuck it at Eden's head, until he paused, blinking several times as he found the two exchanging a rather passionate kiss. Blush creeped into his cheeks as he averted his gaze away, sheepishly lowering the vase and striding a few paces away from them. Shock was an understatement for the feeling that coursed through Remy upon Eden's words.

"Y–you're wife?!" he rasped, glancing toward Zion and then back at Eden. He bit his lip, shaking his head, body trembling as he didn't quite know what to say. At least Zion was not under attack; he wouldn't let any harm come to her, or at least as far as he was concerned. Finally Remy did the right thing and went over to Eden, offering her a friendly handshake, if she accepted.

"It is nice to meet the lovely wife of Zion. I am indebted to her, as she saved my life and I owe her many times over." He left off the part that he was infatuated with her, as he felt that a bit inappropriate at a time like this. He shot a glance back over at Ronin and Isabelle, before turning back toward Zion, proffering the question toward her as opposed to the others. "So . . . we are going to Vivifica next?"

Eclaire would come to find Fyenne wearing a new violet gown, complimenting her olive complexion and dark features. Her cheeks seemed a bit less hollow since last they met, the dark circles under her eyes ebbing away. Her waist-length hair had been washed and combed, the silky locks now shining as the young girl bounded over to Eclaire and gave her a tight hug around her torso.

"Miss Eclaire! I missed you!" she cried, offering the cat girl a smile as she glanced up into her face. She took note of Eclaire being fully dressed, weapons on her person and seemingly ready to travel. "Are we leaving already? Where are we going?"

Tibarn's gaze flickered from Arno's wrist to the trash, watching as the cigarette landed in its destination perfectly. His companion, it seemed, really smoked too much, just as he drank too much. Perhaps he would have to say something about it, but at a later time. He knew he'd get an earful about his drinking habits if Arno's smoking ones were brought up, and right now they were in the middle of a much more important conversation–whether to accept a job that would earn them riches beyond imagining, or decline and retain what shred of honor they had.

"Could ask for a down payment," Tibarn suggested, listening to Arno's considerations on the job. "I mean, heck, if he's offering us THAT much I can imagine we'd be wealthy from just the down payment alone. But there's also the matter of whether he'd come hunting us down if we ditched his job. If he could." Tibarn shook his head. "I mean, at the bar he seemed like a nice enough guy, but I don't know . . . kidnapping the High Priestess . . . . Sounds messy."

He was a bit taken aback when Saffron continued on, seemingly ready to accept the job with few questions. He opened his mouth, shut it again, shot a glance over at Gabriel whilst wondering if he had anything to say on the matter. "Well, count me in, too. Can't let you guys have all the fun, besides I want to earn my share of the cut," Tibarn voiced. "Methinks we should dress inconspicuously, try not to stand out. Masks will make people immediately think we're up to something. We're going to need a pretty good plan and motive if we're going to get into the Grand Cathedral and anywhere near the priestess. Ever since the automaton fire security has been through the roof." He shook his head. "You say this Vaike guy is going to be coming with us? Is he even a mage at all?"

The lieutenant looked up from his morning paper and coffee as Vincent arrived, offering the man a wide smile as he rose to shake hands with the engineer. "Ah, good morning, mage of Ignis! I heard tell from Father Javier that a number of mages from the courts would be aiding me in this investigation. Thank you for your time. We are truly humbled to have such esteemed mages here to aid us in our time of need, and I am definitely in over my head on this investigation. Lieutenant Mustang, my partner, would normally help me in this investigation, but he is currently away seeing to other duties, so your help is welcome." He gestured toward one of the two empty seats. "Please, have yourself a seat, and I will bring more chairs to welcome our other guests. I am sorry that I am so underprepared this morning."

When Mastiff returned he found that his office was already filled with the other mages, causing him to let out a whistle as he unloaded the folding chairs from under his arm. "My goodness, I have been given a party!" he said enthusiastically, introducing himself to the other mages and catching their names in return, returning Vlad's handshake as well. "It is wonderful to meet you all. As you are aware, I am in charge of the investigation concerning the automaton assault from the other day. It is uncertain why it developed a conscience on its own, but we have a few ideas." He came around to the other side of his desk, sitting down to open a desk drawer. He went through it momentarily, a frown fixating on his face as he began to search with a bit more concern.

"Now that's odd," he murmured under his breath, finally sitting straighter and readjusting his glasses. "My file on the automaton is gone. Hmm . . . . Perhaps one of my colleagues is borrowing it." Mastiff did seemed particularly ill at ease with this newfound information, shifting in his seat to glance over at Vincent. "Mister Watts, did you perchance bring a copy of the sketch you made, the one of the symbol found on the automaton's body?"

Shiroo was one that gave Arun a round of applause after he gave his speech on how they would restore Sanctus Heights. "I don't know if you're aware of this, but you're a born leader, Arun," Shiroo commented. "How about we set you in charge of this operation? I think you're organized enough."

The redhead took a moment to glance around at their assembly. He hadn't realized quite how many mages had stayed behind to aid the city to return to its former glory. Among the crowd was his beloved cousin, whom he couldn't have been happier to see at that particular moment. He rose, turning toward the others as he said, "Excuse me for a moment," and bounded off across the square, ripping the scarf off from around his neck that threatened to strangle him as he bounded right into his favorite youth.

"JARI!" he exclaimed, essentially body slamming the poor lad and squeezing him tightly. "I can't believe we've both been in Sanctus Heights for more than twenty-four hours and haven't even exchanged a how-do-you-do! How's it going?! What are you up to?! Chasing any cute skirts lately?" He tousled his cousin's hair, wrapping an arm tightly around Jari's neck as he attempted to drag him back into the center of the crowd. He listened for a while as others pitched their aid, considering what he could do to help before saying: "I could help in the construction process. My forging of the elements could come in handy, and my earth magic as well."

It seemed that they came to discuss what they needed, and all was said that needed to be. With a final nod, Shiroo rose from his seat on the cobblestone ground. "Well, then, time to get cracking, I guess! I'll send up sparks if help is needed from any of y'all!"

Vincent smiled happily as it seemed that the team was happily accepted, despite being a rather varied team made up at the very last minute. Well, nothing bad about it! However, he found concern when the Lieutenant could not find the file. That was concerning, but then again a whole bunch of people were investigating it, therefore he figured that someone took it...from his office...huh. Oh well. "Yes. I do." He said. He removed his sketch book and flipped through the pages, finding the copy that he had created. The last one, at that. He pulled it out and handed it to the lieutenant. "Have you found out something about what it could be, sir?" He asked, arms crossed and looking around the room. "Unless any of you have seen one of these, too?" He added.

- Arun - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: Central Square - Reconstruction Team
Arun would look up, surprised at the applause and praise. He stammered a bit, looking away as he played with his fingers. "Ah, my apologies if I was bossy...I just figured we needed a bit of order." He smiled. Was he? The compliments were very nice, regardless. He perked up and nodded. "Right. Let us get to work! Good luck, everyone! Let us do our best!" He chimed in. His attention turned to Anya, nodding at her. "Shall we? We have a lot to rebuild." He lifted his head up. "The fire began from center outwards, and reconstruction is beginning from the walls to the inner part of the city. Let us find places to start." He said, turning to Anya. He took her hand, pulling her along excitedly before hurrying off to find a place to start. They had many, many, many options on that. The whole place was going to need a lot of reconstruction to make sure that things went smoothly. "I suggest we begin with the roads. If we can fix them, it will make the flow easier, and supplies can be distributed easier than having to move around and find alternatives." He suggested. He realized he was holding Anya's hand and let go of it, embarrassed. Regardless, they had their first chance all around them. Arun approached an area where there was an overpass bridge. The bridge had collapsed, taking down two different paths down with it. The mage of Ignis would focus, staring at the debris before a golden glow emanated from his body. He raise his arms, the ground shaking slightly as the earth would crack open, absorbing the debris before it rose upwards. People watched as the earth would rise to fit the size of the bridge. Arun took out his battle axe, cutting a semi circle on the structure before slamming the battle axe against it. There would be the sound of cracking before the semi circle would break through and through, the earth flattening down. Now the risen earth formed a bridge with space underneath for people to pass under.

- Arkane - Umbra Court - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -
Arkane crossed his arms. As expected his creations, although appreciated (as they should be!) would attract too much attention to them. He agreed that they should use horses, and would not object it. "I doubt those same bandits will show up themselves. We may have...added some of their own to our collection." He spoke, smiling at the priestess, almost proud. Speaking of which, he needed to work on those. He hoped that they could have a break soon. He always carried his 'inventory' with him. But it was easier to work in a single place than to have to enter into a pocket of space to create his creations. And thus, it was decided. Carriage it was.

---

They had carriages to choose. He looked around and then glanced at Henry. He considered his options. It was a double edged sword! Because if he went with Henry, they could at least entertain each other in the long hours ahead of them. But if he went with Henry, it also meant that the ever so lively parasite-ahem, fellow mage, Makoto would go along. It was like choosing the lesser of two evils, and he was genuinely concerned that he would not be able to decide on it. There were other options as well. He could go with his own Maester Gerik, or with the Maester from Ignis. Mellark seemed rather interesting too. There was also Eclaire, but he did not know if she wished to speak with him. Or even look at him for that matter- Wait a second where was Eclaire? Was she not part of the team to head to Vivifica? "Gerik, I believe we are missing a head or two." He said, referring to Eclaire. Oh well. Now back to his dilemma. He puffed his cheeks, crossing his arms undecided. How could this possibly be so hard to decide! "Oh it is no fair." He muttered, leaning against is hand as he thought further more for a moment. He wondered if the Maesters would be heading together in their own carriage. It would make sense, and it could be a boring carriage ride depending on how that went. Usually he was not sociable but he knew that he was going to be stuck hours with someone inside a cramped space and he needed to make sure he made the right decision. In the end he considered that Makoto may have been too much for him to handle without snapping her neck and thus he digressed. He turned to Henry and waved. "Henry! How about you and Makoto join Maester Gerik? I have a feeling you guys will get along rather swell!" He chimed before turning away and heading straight to where Mellark and Nero were at. He approached the carriage, still carrying the bottles of perfume on him in case he stunk. "May I join your carriage?" He asked. He hoped the answer was yes, because he proceeded to climb in and take a seat. "Good day, Maester Nero." He said, making himself comfortable.

I am a cute ferret I can be a conversation starter! Jynn!" He insisted, at one point beginning to nibble his ear for him to listen to him. "Go sit with her! It could be a supervised date!" Jynn dismounts Mel to offer the steed to pull a wagon. But, as soon as he got down, Mabel passes by with a smile, once again making the mage blush, as well as brushing her fingers along his. It was clear that Yael was picking up on all of this.

——————

Jynn finishes tacking Mel up to a small wagon full of supplies for the trip. If someone wanted to retrieve their potions, armor, or weapons, Mel is the horse to look for. Not only that, but the gelding’s role presents another opportunity. Jynn pats his horse on the muzzle. “You shall be the ‘herd’s alpha’. Our eyes and ears. Keep us safe, in line, and alert us of oncoming danger.” This role had so many benefits for the group. With the fact that horses sleep on average for three hours or less a day, Mel could round up the other horses, and keep an eye out for oncoming danger should the group have to spend the night out in the field. They would rotate between naps, one taking a twenty to thirty minute power nap, while the others keep watch. ((Screams of a genius))

Jynn walks towards the carriages, with Mel keeping an eye on the rear of the group. As he approaches, he notices Mabel sitting alongside the elder in one of them. This sight seemed to excite Yael, who is scratching at Jynn’s cheek. He exclaims that his current form could enact a conversion between Jynn and Mabel.

“Alright Yael, calm down. I will. I will!” Upon those words, Jynn hoists himself onto the carriage and takes the seat on the other side of Mabel. “Excuse me Priestess, but I hope you don’t mind that I take a seat here?”

After some deliberation, the choice for the group's transportation was decided, they were going to take carriages. This was a nice choice in Nero's mind. While a train would be a lot faster, it would take several hours to make the necessary arrangements so all of them could use one of the trains. Going in carriages was not without issues, they could be attacked by brigants and thieves, those who loved to earn easy coin, but it would come as a surprise to find out that their target were mages from all the courts. She admire Arkane's idea of using some of his creations to pull the carriages, but that would make some heads turn their way, the High Priestess was aware of that too. Once Lady Mia left, Kagura arrived to say good bye to the Maestra. The poor thing looked so nervous.

"How kind of you, Kagura. You didn't had to come all the way here just for that," Nero said as she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and gave the Dancer a hug, "but I appreciate the gesture. Now remember, help all of those who were affected by the fires. Your healing abilities will be very useful. And I am sure a dance performance could lift the morale of the populace. Good luck on your task, Kagura."

Mellark calling Kagura "Miss" was rather funny. It looked as if most of the Somnum retinue thought that Kagura was a girl. She could correct them on their mistake, but she was having so much fun at the moment. Nero gave Mellark a quick curtsy as he opened the door to the carriage, she took a quick look around and then took a seat inside. Arkane asking if he could join her and Mellark was surprising, she thought that he would be travelling with his maester, after all.

"Good day, Mister Gravemore, Please, join us, it's no inconvenience. It is quite surprising, I was expecting for you to travel with Maester Lockford," Nero said as she lookign straight into Arkane's eyes, "nevertheless, we are glad that you decided to join us. I have to say, Mister Gravemore, that you idea for using necromantic steeds was interesting."

Diane stayed near one of the windows of the room, one with a view of the outside streets. With the passing of minutes more and more mages arrived. Lev, former Umbra, was known to her. Mako Koyle and Vlad Von Redir of Somnum were too. The Lich was interested on seeing how this group would manage to find out the truth about the automaton's rampage. The moment the lieutenant mentioned something being odd, Diane's eyes moved to focus on the man. The file regarding the automaton was gone, he might think that one of his colleagues was borrowing it, but with this kind of situation? Diane thought something was not right.

"Perhaps you should investigate who took your file, Lieutenant, if someone was foolish enough to bring an automaton to live, I am sure they could be foolish enough to enter the office of an officer to steal their files about the investigation," Diane said as she looked outside once more, her face completely obscured by her hood, leaving only a pair of glowing eyes watching the streets, "As for what you found on that automaton, Lieutenant, that is called a Blood Seal, or Blood Rune."

The Lich remained silent for a few seconds, finding a couple of children pretending to be mages somewhat interesting. No, she had to focus on her task at hand.

"As I was saying, a Blood Seal is powerful dark magic that is able to, shall we say, bind the soul to a different outside object after it departed from its mortal vessel. Necromancers are masters of such magicks," Diane said calmly, "The one that was used in the automaton used blood as a catalysts, meaning that its raw power would be enhanced by using blood to get the desired effect. Before mages learned to use gestures and incantations, blood was the best way to unleash magic in the physical world. The question is: Who has knowledge about such dark magic? One could say that a rogue Umbra mage could be the culprit, but some individuals within our very courts could be selling information to outsiders for their own personal gain. Whoever used the Blood Seal has knowledge that only few possess. Most of those are from my court."

Incarose was impressed about how Arun took control of the situation. He had the makings of a natural leader, of so Incarose thought. She was surprised by how many mages, and other citizens, had gathered to help those in need. Jari, a mage from Maestra Nero's court, offered to stay and help her with the distribution of supplies. She nodded and smiled at him. She also heard when Anya called her and Jari "lovebirds" before turning and leaving with Arun. This made her ears turn bright red, and she could feel the embarrassment, so she quickly turned around.

The moment everyone split, Incarose made sure to make a list of the supplies they had available. Water, canned food, and other necessities. She made sure everything was accounted for. There had been more than she thought possiblem, but she was sure that the rest of the citizens had contributed with different products for their brothers and sisters in need. The red head was carrying different things on her arms, mostly food and water. When she saw anyone who looked hungry or thirsty she offered some of her supplies. Kids thanked her, grown ups thanked her, but there were some who, understandably, were not in the right mood, even when she was trying to help. Some of them blamed her and the Court of Ignis for not being fast enough to stop the automaton, others just wanted someone to blame. Incarose felt sorry for all of them.

After some time, she finally took a small break. She opened a bottle of water she had brought from the cathedral and took a sip. So delicious, even for regular water. After a couple of minutes, she noticed Jari nearby.

"I am grateful that you are helping me with this, Jari. People will be happy to know that the Courts are here to help them, and even the rest of the populace of Sanctus too," Incarose said with a smile, "We must do our best to let the populace know that we are here to help them in any way we can. I understand that some of them might blame the courts, but I am sure everyone did their best to avoid further damage to the city and to the people."

- Elliot Luxmore, Merciless Protector, Vivifica - Vivifica Court, Training Room -

While others returned to their rooms or ventured to the Temple in Sanctus Heights, Elliot elected to hone his combat skills further against training dummies, all carefully arranged for a particular scenario he may find himself in, having previously ascertained what he would do in various other predicaments, Elliot found himself in...familiar territory. The set up was exactly like the First Court's Ambush the other day. With this arrangement, Elliot was fighting aggressively, as per usual, a honed, focused anger towards his foes, depriving them of any room to breathe if they were attempting to fight him, as real enemies would, rather than these stationary dummies, who's only movement came from Elliot's slashes, kicks and shield bashes. Perhaps Elliot sought to improve upon what he would do should they find themselves ambushed once again by the First Court Specters?

A few sword swipes, a transformed shield and shield toss into a facing away training dummy later would reveal at least some of his intents. This dummy, fixated in a vaguely ambushing position behind another dummy, fell over due to the force imparted by the tossed shield to the back of its head, the instrument in particular clattering in the distance while Elliot stared, frozen in the throwing position for a few moments, before returning to a normal stance and slowly walking over to the collapsed dummy, bringing himself to a curious kneel next to it. Elliot pondered over the dummy for a small while, his eyes scanning over it and the still standing dummy that he had saved, before he suddenly rolled his neck, then tilted his head sharply at the fallen dummy, the gem upon his collarbone intermittently flashing, then just as quickly, it would settle down as Elliot called his shield back to him and dismissed both weapons, picking the dummy back up and standing it, before turning to leave the training room.

Just as he motioned toward the door handle, Elliot's hand trembled as he slowly looked over at the dummy once more, his free hand shakily clenching into a tight fist as his gem flickered, until he turned away sharply with a grunt and left the room as he normally would, unshaken in spite of what occurred mere moments prior, closing the door quietly behind him.

As other members of various courts pooled together to investigate what exactly happened during the Automaton Catastrophe, more still would join forces to aid in the recovery of Sanctus Heights, in the disposal and re-positioning of rubble and any other hazards brought about by the steel dragon. Soren was one such man, either lifting many smaller pieces with telekinesis, or simply using his strength to lift and dispose of larger rubble, as well as straightening some bent lampposts.

After picking up and getting rid of a large segment of a wall that was broken apart, Soren turned his thoughts to his recent acquaintance from the Court of Umbra; Everyth Castanova. Soren had finished his breakfast faster than most and thus, had gotten back to work quicker. Yet in spite of his eagerness to set things right in Sanctus Heights, his mind would wander every so often. And every time it did, he thought of her. Soren frowned to himself as he lifted more rubble via telekinesis. He'd just met Everyth, why was he still thinking of her? He had to admit, she was very disarming for an Umbra, at least compared to others he had met, that much was true. She was also a very fair woman, quite beautiful and a surprising personality to boot, in a good way. Perhaps it had just been too long since Soren had had some good conversation with someone other than a fellow Ignis? The Bulwark of Ignis would simply shrug to himself and keep working, casually bending a lamppost back into position as he motioned the debris out of harms way.

- Eleanor Le Doux, Fierce Shadow, Umbra -

Eleanor was feeling particularly chipper today. Well, aside from these unexpected actions from Vivifica, causing the Elders to initially decide that they warranted exterminating, before being convinced to at least try to meet with Aislinn and her ilk, as to have her surrender her role as Maestra to Jynn Venas, or something along those lines. Eleanor hadn't paid too much attention, she was distracted by Eclaire holding her hand and looking to Eleanor for comfort via burying her face in Elle's shoulder.

Eclaire's gift and actions had left quite the mark on the Fierce Shadow of Umbra, who now would wear the necklace she was gifted by Eclaire for as long as she lived, already, she felt it having an effect on her just by being around her neck, the pink crystal was soothing her soul ever so slightly. This was likely aided by Eleanor's remembrance of how much of a hug she gave Eclaire after laying eyes upon the teardrop shaped pendant. Yet Eleanor would be naive to think this was all she needed to do, to bring herself out of a berserker rage...to alleviate the early stages of...her condition, Eleanor would need to focus on Eclaire, on her voice...but what if she wasn't there at the time? Elle would need to think of Eclaire, but her mind would be too hazy with anger...

Eleanor shook her head, noticing that Eclaire had left to go and check on Fyenne, but the carriages were surely due to depart fairly soon. Leaving her things with the carriage to be packed away, Eleanor would follow suit, though she sheathed her swords upon her back, feeling it would not be sensible to let carriage handlers take hold of them, if not because they would cut themselves, but because of just how much darkness they have been swimming in these past couple of days.

- Grand Cathedral, Infirmary -

Once inside, Eleanor would hear Fyenne's joy at seeing Eclaire, so Eleanor would wait outside to not only let them have their moment, but to stand guard for the time being.

- Laguna, The Maelstrom, Somnum - Skies of Regalia -

In the distance, the clouds would rumble with thunder and crackle with lightning as The Maelstrom meditated amongst the storm, floating amidst it all as they pondered on their next course of action. Laguna was infuriated to have been eluded by Zion's Dawnguard technique via a sudden shield wall. Next time however, they knew they would be prepared...and the Archmagus would not escape a second time. The traitor would answer for their actions, as would the rest of the Court members who aligned with the reprehensible Aislinn.

Laguna's fury seethed, the storm around them intensified, yet strangely, in a flash that could be missed by the blink of an eye, a single bolt of lightning was...off. And not in just one way. It was more erratic, furious...and rather than the white-blue of Laguna's usual storms, this singular bolt was a shade of deep crimson...Laguna would be shaken out of their mediation, but it was too late, for they had completely missed the bolt, yet felt its effect even for a few seconds after. It was then Laguna ceased resting, taking hold of a floating Mjolnir and taking off at high speeds in the direction of the Vivifica Court's Headquarters, not to head directly there just yet, but to lie in wait and survey the place for weaknesses...though in the back of their mind, Laguna recalled the beginnings of a plan to negotiate with Vivifica using Jynn Venas.

Regardless, if things were to go wrong, Laguna would be there, to rain judgement upon the traitors. Without mercy or warning.

- Ronin of the Shade, Bearer of Many Names, Unaffiliated - Warehouse District -
Xion136 Xion136 Mystics Apprentice Mystics Apprentice

Ronin was grateful for Zion not forgetting about himself and Remy amidst being chased by a particularly fanatical Somnum Mage...which, if he was being honest, was not a phrase he thought he'd ever say on account of most Somnum being too tranquil and at once with nature to even think of such a notion. A lot had changed it seemed...though his thoughts on Laguna would be dashed by Zion suddenly being ambushed, tossed through the door by an unknown assailant. In an instant, Ronin drew his main blade, Vengeance, and prepared for battle.

His vigilance would swiftly be calmed when the assailant began to passionately kiss Zion, in a way befitting of a particularly devoted lover. Ronin simply uttered a "Huh." and lowered his blade, but kept it drawn, soon after he would chuckle as Xion flicked Zion on the forehead for her, hotheadedness. After the wife of Zion introduced herself in full, Ronin relaxed and sheathed his blade, before bowing in respect, while paying Remy no heed regarding his plight, at least for now.

"Greetings, Eden Xion Silvius Takemikazuchi of the Umbra Court, Heir to House Takemikazuchi. You may call me Ronin, though I too bear many names. It is an honor to meet the wife of our...well, particularly righteous friend." Ronin then raised a hand in reassurance. "Fear not, no flirting was had. Then again, I would hope so, given she's your wife." He added with emphasis, now that he thought about it, but then would pay attention to the seemingly internally despairing Remy the Thief and fold his arms.

"I believe our...companion, here, would very much like to express his disappointment. He was very enamoured with your wife, word would have it." Ronin quipped, silently amused at rumbling Remy and half-hoping that Xion would kill him in spectacular fashion.

- Gabriel Woods, The Soaring Raven, Bounty Hunter - The Viridian Villa -

For a significant portion of the meeting between himself, Tibarn and Arno, Gabriel sat quietly, swirling his glass of whiskey in contemplation, but all the while he was listening very intently to the thoughts of his friends. He was mulling on the offer they had been presented by the stranger that Arno and the others had met before Gabriel had even woken...the kidnapping of the High Priestess of the Mage Courts. Such a suggestion made Gabriel's blood run cold, for in spite of the grand accomplishments he and Arno had performed even just as a pair before Tibarn, Gabe held a great many doubts regarding the success of such an endeavour, but more than anything, he couldn't believe his ears at the moment, for it seemed like his comrades were genuinely considering going through with it.

Having had enough, Gabriel necked his whiskey and slammed it to the table, making a loud enough thud to garner their attention.

"Surely, you can't be serious? Ha-have, have any of you, got the faintest idea what we're signin' up for? Huh!?" Gabriel spoke both in bewilderment and slowly building anger, before suddenly standing up and going on. "This stranger just, just offered us the motherload of gold, in exchange for performing what could very well be our last rodeo together which, I'd like to add, will likely end in dismal failure! And you wanna actually do it!? Have y'all lost your minds!?" Gabriel could not contain his yell, not could he stop his hand crushing the glass into many pieces, though none of them penetrated his thick glove as he shook the shards off as he stepped towards Arno. but not before taking a deep breath.

"They find out who we are and we're over, Arno. All of us, we're finished. Mark my words, this is too tall of an order and right now, I feel like I'm the only one who's got my head on straight and not just seeing gold everywhere I'm lookin'." Gabriel went on, looking his old friend straight in the eyes, then gesturing to all others present in the room. Inside, he knew he couldn't convince them to give it up, so he rolled his shoulders and went on.

"Look, if we're gonna do this, we need to be sure that our disguises and the plan are about as foolproof as it gets. And even then, don't expect me to be happy about it...because I don't see what this is gonna accomplish. Vivifica's little departure's already sent everythin' goin' into a downward spiral, nabbin' the Priestess is only gonna make it worse and trust me, it'll affect us too." He added on with a firm tone, leading into a dismissive voice as he simply mentioned Vivifica's name, the Courts holding little meaning to him personally, but he knew that their affairs would have huge effects on the world of Regalia and even its Nomads and Bounty Hunters would feel the sting no matter how far they were.

- Arkane - Umbra Court - Sanctus Heights: Infront of the Grand Cathedral -
Arkane stared, and if anyone looked any deeper, one could get confused that he was dead inside. However he merely answered. "There is a risk that Makoto will be in one of the carriages and I wish to diminish that percentage of me being in the same carriage as her as much as possible." He answered truthfully. Makoto was not a bad person, he could tell that much. But she was the kind of personality that absolutely exhausted him. It drained him emotionally and he was not up for that for the following hours inside a cramped carriage. He took a seat and made himself comfortable. When she mentioned his necromatic mounts, he glanced up. "I thank you. When a person dies, the body remains. Part of my research and projects involve in finding uses to those bodies in order to benefit the living. The cons, of course, include that they attract too much attention...and they smell." He said, shrugging. That was merely part of being a necromancer. He looked out the window and watched carefully at Makoto. Please do not come this way please do not come this way- Arkane had grown to be a relatively well adjusted young man. But his quirks will always remain until death. At least now he stopped reviving random animals much to the dismay of the rest of the court. No more randomly waking up to dead rabbits hopping around the hallways of the dorms or of the sort.

- Vincent - Ignis Court - Sanctus Heights: Lieutenant Mastiff's Office-
Vincent listened, glancing back to Diane at her explanation. So it was an old, Umbra court necromancy magic. With multiple factors to add at that; it was old, hard to control, and rather unique. "Do you think it could have been one of the court of Umbra?" he asked, furrowing his brows. "Or maybe a member of Umbra sold it to another court..." He closed his eyes. "That does not exactly narrow it down, now does it? The courts have free realm to come in and out of Sanctus Heights as they wish. We could check the time of events from what time this seal could have been created. But this automaton has been installed for years...Diane. What could possibly activate this kind of seal? It seemed to be inactive all of this time?" He asked, genuinely concerned on what they could be dealing with.

- Richter Vanis - Vivifica court - Balcony overlooking the forest -

A time of respite had arrived for him and his fellow mages, Elliot went to train, always the training nut that one, always training and improving himself and possibly release stress. Meanwhile as the others went on to do their business, Valery and Quinn heading to Sanctus to uncover more about the first court, Richter had decided to stay at Vivifica and watch over Aislinn and the court.

And there he was, resting at a balcony overlooking the forest and the roads leading to Vivifica, in a half meditative and half awake state as he ponded on everything that happened since thet got there. His phasing and thaumaturgy had gotten stronger, as a result from tireless training and honing his magic to be more controlled and powerful over the last months. He also pondered about Aislinn and her problems with nightmares and restless nights, regardless of what the maestra would say Richter would always put her needs above his. He'd jump in front of a bullet if it meant to protect her. He pondered about what could possibly happen in the future, and if their cause was truly just.

One thing was true though. He'd be with Aislinn, whether she was wrong or not. He would endure the burden of following her, even should all abandon her. He won't. For he had made a promise to her. Many would think him a gullible fool, or one so maddeningly in love he put his very well being at risk by following her. Whether they were true or not remained to be seen. As for now he could only wait...and think.

- Henry Heid - Sanctus Heights - In front of Grand Cathedral -

Decisions, decisions. Who to sit with during the journey? who to avoid? Henry didn't quite know much about the mages present aside from Makoto and Daruk, and he figured Daruk would most likely sit with Mabel in her carriage, his line of thought was broken as Makoto wrapped herself around his arm. Poking fun at him for not waking her up and resulting in her being late to the journey. All he could do was let out a sheepish smile as he was then spoken to by Arkane.

"...Ok?" Was his reaction to Arkane suggesting Henry and Makoto to go alongside Maester Gerik. Someone he didn't quite know other than that man was the Maester of Umbra...why would Arkane tell him to sit with him? That was his question until he asked why and was promptly answered by Arkane's ploy to avoid Makoto at all costs. To which Henry simply nodded and sighed.

He didn't really know who he would travel with at the moment. Honestly he was fine just going with whatever spot was left. "Maester Daruk?" He asked the giant maester. "Who are you going to sit with?" Henry asked him. Before deciding on who to sit with, he was thinking of seeing if he could join in Mabel's carriage, but that would be rather weird to do so, common sense would be that Maesters would sit with the High Priestess to ensure her safety. He could ask Makoto,

- Vlad - The Man in your shadow - Mastiff's office -

"But if it was a soul binding through blood runes. The soul would've been released the moment the automaton stopped functioning, or the rune itself was broken." Vlad also gave his input on the situation, finding himself listening to other's thoughts and theories was interesting, to be sure, but he had a few holes to poke.

"And from what I could gather from civilians who had seen the beast, and those not shaken enough to speak, they noted an almost living movement from the automaton, almost like it was fighting for its survival, rampaging through the town in a desperate attempt at escape." Vlad spoke, not letting his voice crack, but letting his casual tone reverberate in his words.

"I don't know about you two, but I don't think this was connected to one of the courts." Vlad pointed out. "You umbras are weirdos, but none of you are genocidal, Somnus mages also wouldn't be able to do it without raising a scene and probably falling asleep. No offense to you Vincy, but I doubt the regular Ignis mage would be even accepted into the court if he had such magic. And Vivifica sure as hell wouldn't do it, they would never endanger civilians, it's not in their nature." Vlad pointed out the possibilities of there being a mage that could do such a thing in each of the courts. And to him, it wasn't the actions of a court mage, so his suspicion was that it was an unafilliated one.

"We should consider the possibility of it also being from an unafilliated mage." Vlad suggested, raising an index finger. "Vincy, you were there when it happened, did you see how the seal or rune was triggered?" He asked the Ignis mage with a curious tone.

"Depending on how the seal was activated, that could be a clue."

- Arno Cross - The Bounty Hunter - Viridian VIlla -

"Good points Gabriel." Arno spoke in a flat tone in response to Gabriel's small outburst, Gabriel always had his head on his shoulders, knew the risks and when to give up jobs and when to accept them. But considering the risks, they were never paid this much, one thousand per person? insanity. A hundred gold coins could get you a nice living for a month in the current time and year. Imagine a thousand.

"It is dangerous, very dangerous in fact. Kidnapping is serious business, and kidnapping the priestess would indeed be risky and prove dangerous." Arno spoke. Before standing up from his chair.

"Which is why I wish to know why he wants the Priestess kidnapped." Arno spoke, his tone more serious now. "His mannerisms wasn't of your common kidnapper, or even a normal employer" Arno deduced Vaike wasn't your typical man, those who employed mercenaries would either be very secretive and do things a certain way, most of the times through servants speaking for them.

"But regardless." Arno spoke, picking up his shotgun from the table and placing it in its holster, well concealed within his coat and hoisting his rifle on his back. "He said he'd come by here today. I figure you and Tibarn should at least converse with him and come to your own conclusions." Arno suggested Gabriel. if they could get more on the reason why Vaike wants Mabel kidnapped, maybe they'd see about accepting or not.

- Daruk of Ignis, laying claim to his seat in the carriage ride to Vivifica -

Daruk smiled whimsically as everyone chose their respective carriages and fellow riders, and when prompted by Henry about where he was going to sit he laughed and pointed toward the driver's seat of a carriage.

"My boy, I have the whole place to myself! The world is my oyster! Gwa ha ha!" he called out, tossing his head back in a laugh. "Snacks are gathered, plenty of view, and the air'll blow in my face all I like, and all I have to do is pull on the reins every now and again. If I weren't in the role of a Maester, I might as well be in the role of a coachman! Climb into any you deem worthy! I myself am going to be in the middle one right there. Devil take it if I don't. I mean, look at those majestic creatures."

Nudging Henry's arm and gesticulating toward the coach he mentioned, a fine set of two black horses with muscular bodies led the charge. They were not as tall as Melstrome, but they maintained a regal air, a balance of strength, speed, and adroitness.

One of the coachmen was heading toward the carriage, and Daruk was quick to take action, bounding toward the man.

"HANDS OFF! I wanna drive!" he yelled over the short distance, scaring the unfortunate man half to death so that he passed out. Satisfied but feeling a mite worried, he climbed up in the lead booth and called for someone to take care of the lad.

- Jari Coriander of Somnum, talking, being talked to, and getting tackled in Sanctus Heights -

Jari too was in a flight of panic when Anya called the two "lovebirds," especially since they had hardly even known each other, except maybe just by appearance or by name in passing. Thrust between a blush and a disagreement with the word choice, he stayed silent besides a saddened moan, a common enough sound from him when he was feeling down about something. He did not want to be called such, at least not without knowing her enough to be called such (this thought indeed inspired a blush as opposed to beforehand), but he did not want to offend the girl Incarose either.

And then came the tackle, with Shiroo pouncing upon him like Jari once was contemplating doing to Shiroo. A panicked grunt was all that could escape him before he went down.

"Shiroo!" he called out, muffled against the cobblestone rocks, but before he could get his bearings and speak he was dragged off by his cousin back toward the center of the crowd, legs kicking out in an attempt to keep himself up in the air instead of dragging his butt against the ground. When dropped off, he gripped his neck and coughed some air back into his lungs. I don't know if Shiroo knows this, but he's gotten pretty strong since last we met, Jari thought to himself, listening in on the conversation while Shiroo said his momentary goodbyes.

"When you get a chance, Shiroo, let's meet up at my place and get a drink together!" he piped towards his cousin. "We'll catch up that way!"

-- -- --

Tallying the food and water was no problem with Jari's powers, the boy flashing his eyes over things in record time and setting off soon afterwards. Those flashbacks with Ychera were coming in handy already, though how she gave this information so freely and so easily was beyond him. Was it a magic he did not know about? He did not know, but he was happy with the results regardless. Blitzschnelle was handy for reacting to things and for quick studying.

Later on he ran into Incarose again, having a bit of a water break, and he decided to do the same. It was a lot of stuff to lug around, and he needed a buddy with whom to replenish water.

"Aw, the pleasure's mine, really," he replied, scratching at his faux fox ears. "I'm not one for keeping closed comms. If I -- we -- can keep positive relations and help people, I'm all for it, and I'm glad someone else has the same idea in mind!"

He continued sipping his water, feeling the refreshment of something cool running down his throat, before starting up another bout of conversation.

"Say, Incarose, you're seeming better than before. Sleepwise, that is. You seem healthier and happier. Was it due to joining a court or something else? I guess I am curious because I have been in the court system all my life. My parents were mages like us."

- Lev Noirtier of Ignis, with the Lieutenant and the Investigation Team -

Lev leaned in upon the conversation, chiefly staying quiet but nodding her head at a lot of the information being provided. A lot of sense was thrown into the ring, and she wondered about how this was able to be done. Blood seals, from what her father had mentioned, were indeed a prominent historical piece of the long, grotesque annals of the Umbra Court, something she could not see herself do or even be part of. It was quite possible that this was the case, but to be woken up at this moment of all the times was weird, to say the least. Perhaps a blood relative had touched the automaton, or maybe ulterior magic broke the bindings that kept the machine inert.

When Vincent was mentioned, her green eyes darted accusingly toward Vlad, then worriedly towards Vincent. While he did have a penchant for machines and gizmos, there was no way that he could have been involved, right?
