The Forgotten Forest

Silent Nova

A Quiet Wind
<p>

Sky was a young man who had just become the age of eighteen, his eyes glowed a gloomy dark brown and looked as if they were drained and so did he. He has been sleepless ever since his family had chased him out of the village after had being cursed by his father with that forsaken demon. He walks now with the memories of his past and bloody arm from the demons in the vast forest that was unusually starting to feel like it was home. Either that or he was just starting to loose his grip on sanity. He drags a sword in his left hand letting the blood flow from his arm down to his hand and slowly dripping onto the sword. He didn't really know what he would do or where he would go after he left, but he always tried to look to the brighter side of things. There was something he was able to get from his home before he left and that was a small bit of hope. The sword on the other hand, a mystery in power usually had a light blue glow to it as well but overusing the power in it made the sword grow weak and a dark grayish color as any old normal sword would look. He made two comfortable positions were the sword will normally be and that was on his back in it's sheath or in his hand ready to face any danger . He knew he would soon have to start training with it so he could understand and manage the power more but as of now there was no way he would be able to even try. Sky knew he would have to learn to control the power that lurked in him and how to get that power to link him and the sword together. He walked silently as he was drowned in thought, his mind tried to play tricks on him from hunger and thirst. Sky tried to forget the past and look forward to the future but whatever was left of his positive attitude was slowly slipping away and so was his consciousness. He leaned up against a nearby tree and slowly sat down panting slightly. He wished he could go on but for now he knew he needed to rest

Miyuki was sleeping on a tree, enjoying the rays of sunlight seeping through its leaves. She disliked staying in her cave alone, it was too quiet. Outside, she could hear the stream, the songs of the wind, she could feel the air on her skin, the warm light embracing her being. She enjoyed being outisde.

Suddenly, her eyes jolted open. She could smell blood. She heard the rustling of the fallen leaves. Carefully, she peaked from her branch, searching for the stranger, and there he was. Bleeding. Tired.
Armed. He looked like he was dying. She frowned. She opened her satchel and took out some stale bread she has. She crouched, ready to flee, if ever the man would attack her. She took a deep breath.

"Hello sir, would you like to eat?" She scolded herself mentally. Would you like to eat? Really? That's the best you can come up with?

His dark blue eyes glared up to her. He knew he couldn't fight, hell he could barely stand to speak. She seemed as though she truly wanted to help though and he couldn't just deny the offer as his mom when she was around always told him to show his good side whenever possible and he always stayed true to her. He slowed his heavy breathing and gently grabbed the bread from her hands.

"Thank you..., you didn't need to do this."
The bread looked like it was on its last leg which made him wonder how long had it been since this woman had a good meal."I'm sorry.. for the appearance, I must look....a mess."He gave a slight smile to her.

His glare became more of a soothing relaxed look and his lightning slowly began to flow peacefully down his long dark blue hair though it was faint the static could still be heard and felt within him. His arm slowly pulsed and he growled lightly and low to himself taking a bit out of the bread that tasted almost like sand but still had a hint of its sweetness.

Miyuki smiled from ear to ear. She sat down suddenly beside the stranger and crossed her legs.

"Where are you from, stranger?" She opened her Satchel again and took out a few bottled ointments and bandages. She put them on her lap and gestured to his wounds. "What happened?"

He Knew he would heal over time without the bandages but he allowed her to apply them and he swolled the last bit of bread she had giving him showing his fangs for the last time as they finally faded back to there normal human teeth.

"I'm from way north of here, a small village near one of the lakes of the forest. It's more peaceful there than this part i'm starting to notice. I can feel them all over. Waiting and watching for the time to slaughter there prey. I've also seen alot more livestock here as well which is why i guess so many demons lurk around here."

He realised he was starting to drag on and laughed a little feeling a jolt of pain dash through his arm to his chest and he tensed up a small bit before becoming at ease again. His curst mark was still forming and would be a agonizing process for him he assumed since it constinly gave him an aching feeling and random jolts.

"Im Sky by the way, I'm sorry I wasn't able to introduce myself sooner and who is it that I should be thanking for the food and help."

Miyuki absentmindedly stared at where his fangs were. She wondered what kind of creature Sky was. Her mind formed so many theorie– she snapped out of it, realizing she's been asked a question.

"I am called Miyuki." She smiled at Sky. "You're the first… somebody I've talked to in a while."

She leaned back on the tree, and on Sky. Her icy cold blue skin, touching him for the first time. She reached into her satchel and pulled out her water. She offered it to him.

Her blue eyes observed him carefully, trying to figure him out. Her white hair swayed with the blow of the wind.

He wonder why his breath got cold suddenly then she touched him and the chill was actually more of a relieving feeling to him since his demons spirit increased his normal blood temperature making him warmer than most alot warmer. he took a deep breath letting the chill travel through him before his body became use to it and matched the warmth with how could she was.

"Miyuki huh, well tis a pleasure. You normally would send a chill through people's spines just from being near them. Even had me chilled for a second."

Sky's warmth would pass over to her normally presenting a soothing and comforting feeling to others. He could hear them coming as the evening slowly moved to night. He growled lightly and watched the sun slowly fall beyond the trees and the forest began to lets its glow show. The glow was nothing more tghan a brighter color of whatever it was in the forest that was being touched by the moonlight almost giving the outer edge of everything a neon glow as it got darker. He brought his attention back to her.

"I see, im not surprised most people dont pass through here often im sure unless they can handle all this fighting or avoid it all, hopefully i'll learn so i won't end up like this every day."

Normally, Miyuki would flinch away when she gets too close to people. No one liked the cold much. She was relieved that Sky somehow needed her icy skin. She marveled at the heat that his skin was giving away. No one she's encountered had this kind of temperature. She wanted to touch him. Her hand reached for his arm, but she quickly pulled it away.

"People usually avoid me too." She laughed. "Maybe the blue skin gives me away." She jokingly added.

She stood up and fixed her white dress. She pat off the leaves and dust that could have stuck to her. She offered Sky her hand, to help him up.

"We can always go to my house." She winked playfully.

His wounds were finally beginning to close now being concealed by the bandages but he knew he couldn't wait for too long. He heard the demons growls. he felt their presence becoming more violent and vivid. Lightning began to spiral around him lightling and his eyes went to there normal demon sky blue state. He returned the sword and sheath to his back. His look became more serious but he remained calmed and composed.

"Thanks but..., I don't think i'll get to rest just yet Miyuki." He growled not knowing what to do about her, he couldn't just say run they might still track her. Yea she was a demon but he didn't know if she could hold her own."I'm not safe to be around right now, this is going to get ugly." He gave a slight sigh before returning a slight smile. "Guess it isnt over yet." He slightly mumbled to himself.

Miyuki frowned. He seemed so tense. He seems like he's in trouble. She didn't want to get in his way, but she didn't want to leave him either. She watched his eyes change colors sadly.

"I'm not leaving you." She stated confidently. "You're not leaving me either."

She noticed him reacting to the song of the demons. Their growls were getting louder. She looked around and saw that they were in a disadvantage.

"But we should probably move."She offered her hand to Sky again. "Come on, I know a place."

He realized that she was right, he didn't want to leave her here but he didn't want to fight again and end up right back where he started that evening. He looked to her and gave a small and brief smile. "Alright lead the way, don't worry about speed i can keep up with most demons I've come across." His position relaxed would seem a slight bit more relaxed now so his body felt more free to run with. His demon was taunting him in his own mind but he kept the yells and screams from showing outside of him. The night was upon them now and the life of the forest had really began to show and the hunters began to go after their pray.

Miyuki was absolutely delighted. She felt trusted. She smiled warmly at Sky and took his hand. She hoped that they'd be together for a long time, it's been a while since she had a companion with her. She's always been alone.

"You sure you can keep up with me?" She giggled, wanting to get rid of the tension that's left in the air. "I guess I can slow down for you~" she joked around some more.

She started running. Graceful, elegant. Like a bow from an arrow. Miyuki liked running in the night. Sure, there were demons chasing her… but it wasn't like they could catch her. Even if they did, she could easily fight and flee.

Now holding Sky, she lead them to a cave beside a stream. She noticed the familiar enchantments on the mouth of the cave. They'd surely be safe in there.

He smirked before taking off easily keeping up through here leaping from one tree branch to the other and running through the smooth glowing grass in between his jumps. "Aww this the best you can do." He said taunting her not wanting her to feel like he was angry or really tense. Though Sky knew when to be serious he always tried to be more casual about most things not wanting to get too worked up to have a clear mind. He also enjoyed seeing that he could still make someone smile after he got chased out of his home. He Would sometimes jump in front of her teasing a little before retreating back to his following speed behind her and laughed a little. He took her hand as she led them into a cave and he growled feeling the sting of the barrier but because he was only half demon he was still able to pass through the rather weak barrier with little resistance. "Nice place you got here." He said walking behind her now looking around the empty yet peaceful cave.

Miyuki laughed everytime Sky would overtake her. She enjoyed seeing him leap from tree to tree. She was glad that he was feeling better compared to when she found him, bleeding. Her nose wrinkled at the memory of the scent of his blood. He wasn't a creature that she was familiar with. She noticed him wince slightly as he passed through the enchantments. Oh my, I forgot. Oh no. Oh well, he got through.

"Sorry about that…" she mumbled. "And yeah, welcome. It's not much but…" she shrugged.

Miyuki went further in the cave. She heard the welcoming water drops. She took her container and filled it with water from the little pond she has. The pond was connected to the stream.

"Thirsty?" She offered him the water.

He laughed a little. "Its plenty if it keeps you safe." He smiled at her ignoring the pain of the curse mark braking in him. He leaned down next to her as she gathered the water and looked at his own reflection.I guess I really am different now huh. At least I can still find people who were understanding like her. He didn't notice it but he had ended up staring at her and a peaceful pondered way with a soft smile. She could see all his facial features. How his eyes sparkled from there bright blue color and had little bolts of lighting slowly flow through them for time to time. She could see his long hair gentle let lightning dance down it flowing ever so silently before evaporating at the bottom just to repeat the the process. The way his smooth skin seemed so full of life. He finally came to hearing her question and blinked a little leaning back against a rock nearby. "No thank you, I think rest is more of what i need then anything but i doubt i'll have any." He gave a slight sigh followed by a small smile. "Hey, how long has it been since you've had meat in your dinner." He was worried for her slightly though she showed no signs of hunger, distress, or even boredom but he felt something was wrong. That she was missing something. He probably could be wrong though he wasn't too good at reading people but he always went with his feelings whether that was for better or for worse.

"Something wrong? Well… not much really." Miyuki stretch and yawn, unconsciously, she leans on Sky, feeling his warmth. "I've had meat 4 moons ago? I'm not so sure."

She let her fingers play in the water as she made herself comfortable in the arms of a new friend.

"It's been a while since I've talked to people." She smiled sweetly. Her blue eyes looking at him with nothing but welcoming. Her white lips twitching into a smile. She snuggled some more in his arms.

"How about you? Where do you usually rest your head?" She asked him.

Her eyes widened and she flinched back after a few moments.
"Oh I'm sorry." She said, worried. She moved an inch away from Sky, afraid that he wasn't comfortable with her.

He smiled not minding her laying him really seeing as he was kinda the only comfortable thing in the cave and definitely the warmest.

"Oh no its fine im sure its not normal for you to find comfort so easily."

He gave a small laugh before returning to answer the question. leaned his right leg up to his chest letting his sword and sheath rest in the middle leaning on his leg.

"I don't have a place to lay my head Miyuki, at least not anymore. My family, my whole village forced me to leave and although i tried resisting that only ended up turning my father against me and getting my mother killed."

His eyes grew dark again as a sigh left him for he still felt a little pain over it but tried to bury it into the back of his mind.

Miyuki started tearing up "I'm so sorry" she sniffled. "I didn't know. You dont have to talk about it if you dont want to. B-but I think it would be great if you did, I could share your pains and… I don't know. I'm sorry."

She took his hands in hers and knelt in front of him. "You have to stay here with me." She heavily insisted. "I-I don know what happened, or why things happened, but I surely can't allow you to be homeless in this forest."

he gave a soft smile closing his eyes before returning his look back to her." I don't know, do you really think I could stay here I wouldn't want to put you into any danger from being around me."

He felt relaxed but sounded uneasy, he was afraid of the unknown. He didn't know how far his power could go or what would this seal being broken do to him. He didn't want to lose control again, he didn't want to loose anyone else. He started to panic and think way more than he should've then he looked up to her.

He didn't want to leave her alone again, he wanted to help her and be there for her to at least try to pay her back for all she's done for him. "Alright, I'll stay with you." His mind was going a million miles an hour but he couldn't leave, not now anyway. He gave her a soft gentle hug. "I'll be okay, I won't leave you alone."

Miyuki was a stranger to hugs. This was the first hug she's ever gotten. She stiffened instantly, unsure what to do. She felt… safe. For the first time in her life, Miyuki felt that she was safe. Awkwardly, she wrapped her arms around Sky. Feeling his warm skin, seeing the lightning on his hair. All she wanted to do now was protect this feeling. Protect this person. Protect Sky.

Wherever, whatever, whenever, she knew… she'd always be there.

"Always." She decided.

She pulled back from the hug and got up. She smiled and wiped the tears off of her face. Her blue eyes still shimmering.
"There's a blanket in here." She rummaged through her satchel again and gave him the blanket. "Stay here. I have to get something." She said cheerfully.

She headed outside.

He smiled and waited for her peacefully. he used the blanket as a pillow for his head and he let his eyes slowly close. He didn't sleep like others normally his wolf in him always let him hear everything especially when he wasn't concentrated on seeing what he needed to. He wondered why he wanted to be with her, why he wanted to protect her, why he began to feel so close to her, but he kneeded to protect her. he smiled as he dosed off and wondered how long she would take and for a second wanted to chase after her but restrained.

Miyuki headed out in the forest. She closed her eyes and She felt alive outside… she loved the glow of the forest, the shine of the leaves under the moonlit sky. She loved the warmth of the air. The scent of the leaves… the scent of her prey. Her eyes snapped open as her nose caught the blow of the wind. Blood. She figured that she should hurry. The forest, however beautiful, is never safe at night.

She ran deeper into the forest. She was like a ghost… a phantom. Quick and untouchable. Her bare feet touching the cold ground lightly, not making a single sound. She thought of Sky in her cave. She hurried some more, not wanting him to worry.

She stopped suddenly. She was tense. Her ears picked up a sound. She heard growling. The air grew hotter. Too hot. Quickly, she checked her snares and shoved the prey into her game bag. She didn't bother checking what she caught. The air grew hotter. She heard the demon growl louder.

Oh dear me oh no. She ran faster. A bullet from a gun. She ran all the way back home.

Panting, she entered the cave. She made vines fall, to conceal. Water blocked the entrance, washing away her scent.

She panted.

Sky's ears twitched as he heard the gun shot and then he heard her run in panting his eyes slowly opened and a light growl came from him.

"Are..."He had to calm himself down before he could finish as he was sounded a bit deadly."Are you alright."

His voice sounded alot softer and he held out a hand for her to come to him."What happened to you?" His face was tired but also worried. His fangs left him finally and his scar made him scrunch up in pain for a split second before he relaxed once more.

I know they were hunting but i didn't think they were that far out. I need to go check for myself how close they've gotten to her.

he thought to himself remembering the bullet wound that was causing his arm to bleed. I guess they really hated me still being alive after leaving.

Miyuki took Sky's hand and huddled close to him, still catching her breath. She nuzzled against his warmth and ignored the tension coming from him.

"I'm fine." She sigh in relief. "Nothing to worry about. I'm really fast, y'know."

She pulled the bag and opened it up. The smell of blood and meat seeping through it.
"Sorry I made you worry, but I thought you'd want some meat."

She put it aside.
"Are you okay?"

He smiled at her and laughed slightly smelling the blood and actually liking the scent for the first." I don't normally enjoy the raw smell of the meat before its the cooked. I guess I'm becoming more of a demon after all."

"I could get us a fire going if you want your meet cooked, or would you prefer it raw?" He asked nicely being easily able to cook as he always did it with his mom or whenever she was sick. He just naturally became a good cook and it was always fun for him. He went over to the meat and grabbed taking over to his sword and sheath. He used his sword to gently cut the meat into smaller fillets to cook and or eat easily and to keep the flavor inside. "So how does it feel when your running out there, knowing you can outrun them but also run with them?"
