Time: Evening, 6 PM

Location: The ballroom

Invited: All the royals and there servants

Weather: Cloudy, light rain

what's happening:

the ballroom is decorated with fancy decorations, lots of pictures and flowers everything you could possibly imagine to make a ball look amazing. There was a long staircase that leads down to the main ballroom, up there is a chubby looking man seriously calling names as he introduces all the royals. There is a long table, it's not on the main floor but off to the side a little bit so that they can dance if they choose to. This table is long enough to fit every single Royal, now most of them are probably expecting to sit next to their siblings, but that is not the case at all. There is assigned seating, every single Royal is assigned to sit next to the person they are to marry.

There is a letter sitting on each place holder, it simply reads:

Congratulations, you are the future of freeing every kingdom together. By being arranged to marry, we are finally able to be at peace with one another like I have dreamed for many years. I suspect everybody will cooperate with what I'm wanting, I assure you that we can all work together to make this night and the kingdoms. Thank you everybody for as difficult as this is, for the next couple of weeks you have time to get to know one another and I have activities I will probably have you all do.

Love, Queen Jade

The people who are sitting next to one another are as followed

Miriam x Argenix
Braska x Vern
Lynette x Kota
Noelani x Azriel
Erica x Kumo
Hana x Eliot

there is another table for all the servants, plus a few guests that the Queen invited for the festivities!

Isla
Location: Ballroom

Needless to say Isla wasn't the most excited about this ball, She was never been one for all this royal ball stuff. Still though as an advisor she was expected to be there. Letting out a soft sigh as she opened her book. It took a quick spell or two before she was surrounded in black smoke. A moment later it dissipated leaving her in her "formal" appearance. A massive 7 foot tall being dawned in white clothes and a golden headpiece, her book still hung hidden in her robes along with everything else she usually carried. She knew it was probably a bit much but in the end Isla enjoyed the look. Going to her door she opened it and left with her two usual undead guards. She entered the ball room through a side door to not draw much attention to her and chose to hang on the walls of the room so she wasn't in the spotlight. It was after all for the royalty.

Lady Braska of the North
Braska was the first of the Northern Royals to arrive at the ball and was likely the first of all the Royals to indulge in the fine liquor the middle queen had provided. The Northern Princess stood off to the side of the ballroom with a mug of mead as her partner in crime. In all honesty, Braska felt nervous. Tonight's announcement was to change her life entirely and she was expected to take whatever result she got with a smile and curtsy. Her right to rule was in danger should an heir be made her spouse and even if it were not an heir her future husband was likely to play hardball and jerk for a claim of her power in the case she won the throne. No matter the result of tonight Braska waws well aware her fight was only going to grow monumentally harder to win and that was what made her uneasy.

Moving her free hand to her side Braska let out a soft sigh, not feeling the hilt of her sword was something of an odd sensation. But this was not the north and it was the way of the mid realm for royals to be disarmed at gatherings. It was also the way of the mid realm for women to dawn dresses of fine silk and jewels of unparalleled beauty but Braska couldn't agree to both and so her sword was a sacrifice well spent in that regard. Besides a sword wouldn't look well on the hip of a fine dress. As others came to fill the ballroom the room came alive. Several moved to dance and several others were already deep in conversation. Braska wasn't too eager to dance but a few central nobles and merchants made moves to speak with the Northern Princess. It was all rather boring but a part of her duties as the possible heir no less.

Braska thus spoke deeply on subjects of trade, politics, alliances and industry at great length until a certain scapegoat managed to enter her line of sight. Excusing herself from the social circle Braska moved to intercept her advisor who just so happened to be in close proximity of the mead barrel as a bonus. Pouring herself another mead Braska spoke softly and quietly to Advisor and friend Leif.

"Enjoying the festivities Leif? Won many bets yet or are you saving your weighed dice for later when everyone has grown a little bit more... Inebriated"

While the southern warriors hadn't been anymore familiar with the castle than the noble himself, they had proven good company during his venture and at least curbed any openly hostile tendencies toward him which was appreciated. Between walking about the castle with Commander Otrygg and his companion with the notable accent and attending the evening ball, Leif had managed to trade his travel clothes for more formal attire. It was a mixture of dark blue and gray which appeared regal enough without relying on ornate stitching or much jewelry. Too many a merchant felt the need to display their wealth with shiny baubles during social gatherings, appearing pompous and superfluous; something Leif hoped to avoid.

He didn't particularly mind festivities, especially those that offered such a wide variety of morsels from every part of the continent but found little inspiration to join the twirling bodies on the dance floor. Finding a place that would offer him a fair view of the on-goings Leif settled in to observe only to have the one person he'd been searching for all day suddenly catch him off guard. As so often the gods had an odd sense of humor.

Braska's comment conjured an amused smirk as Leif's eyes darted toward the mug in her hand, “We all have our vices, mine just happen to be more profitable than most. You wouldn't hold a grudge over such a trivial matter would you? It's hardly befitting of the future ruler of the north.” He moved closer to draw some of the golden brown liquid for himself and keep the conversation as private as one could in a ball room filled with dozens of inquisitive ears. “However, my misdeed should be the least of your concerns tonight. The eldest princess of the north will have to match wit and word with nobles from each and every kingdom, not an easy task, do you feel prepared?”

Across the room a well nourished man began calling out names in a serious tone, his voice carrying through the room. In turn Leif's expression soured, “I suppose this means you will be leading the charge on your own...” The noble took a long swig from his mug before continuing, “At least its nothing you're not used to. Tempting as it might be, try not to run anyone through with the silverware in the first few minutes.”

Noelani wasn't very thrilled to be going to the ball this evening. After her fun time in the garden making some new friends, she'd caught up with Ella and preceded to get ready for the evening. She wanted to show up fashionably late (if at all), but then though about the earful she'd get from Kumo and possibly the Queen and just this once decided she'd go with the flow and arrive as she should. He should be proud she was actually going to attempt to have a good first impression for her future husband. Ugh the very thought of it still made shivers go down her spine. She wasn't sure she would ever be the marriage type, and she definitely never thought it'd be pushed on her so soon. However this was for peace, this was for her people who she did care deeply for. She only hated that she'd possibly not get to see them again for a very long time. Hopefully the people of her new home would receive her well. She shook the thoughts from her head telling herself she shouldn't worry about any of that until she has to. After all perhaps the marriages wouldn't be needed? maybe someone would have another bright idea for peace that doesn't include them all becoming in-laws.

As she entered the ballroom and viewed the beautiful decorations she painted a soft smile on her lips. IT was wonderful and under different circumstances she'd be beyond fascinated, but it was just a pretty prison. And lovely pretty bow on a present no one wants. giving a pair of ordinary socks to a child for their birthday but putting it in a golden box with glitter and lace. No matter how you package the deal....the deal is still what matters more. She held back the giggle as the big guy called her name announcing her arrival. A bit much in her opinion, but she supposed such a thing was still standard. She was suddenly glad she arrived on time because slipping in late with that would've been a bit awkward. She made her way to the long table for the royals suddenly wishing she could go sit with Ella and the twins instead. The feeling sank in even more as she noticed the assigned seats and that they didn't place them with their siblings.

"Wow..." She whispered under her breath a bit annoyed. They were really already going to be shoving this down their throat literally. So much for hospitality, and wanting them to be comfortable. None the less she sighed softly and decided to just once again grin and bare it. Push comes to shove she's no stranger to sneaking out of such events, and doesn't see why tonight would be any different. She noticed the names of the two men on the side of her as both being Eastern princes. She wasn't sure still which one she was betrothed to since even if she'd been told she wasn't paying attention. The only reason she even knew where they were from was because of her lessons back home. She was especially forced to study foreign affairs since being the only daughter she was always destined to be a marriage bargaining chip to somewhere. The note was polite and tactful befitting a queen, but as a royal she could read between the lines well enough.

she wondered briefly what kind of activities the Queen had in store for them other then this ball, but then decided she was much more interested in what her fiance considered fun since that's what would make all the difference in the long run. It would decide just how peaceful their marriage would be. With that in mind she sat and waited for their arrival. He would make all the difference on how long she stayed. Though she did let her mind drift off as to where her two brothers were and would be. She was actually surprised she'd beaten them both here.

Erica was definitely not looking forward to the ball, even the most perfect time to show off her intelligence and how many books she has read. She was not sure who her future husband was supposed to be, but she honestly hoped that he was somebody that she could have conversations with. Someone who would not make her mad and make her wanting to burn them alive, but she had a very short temper sometimes and that would definitely prove to be a problem.

As soon as she came into where the stairway was, she waited for the man to announce that she was here. "Princess Erica of the southern kingdom!" with that she gracefully walked down the steps, there was a seriousness in her eyes and she didn't look like she smiled much at all. In fact the only thing the princess did do that would be considered fun, was read and things like that. She would definitely need somebody who would bring out the fund in her, as she kept her steps steady and finally got to her seat.

She looked over the letter, but she didn't show any emotions towards what was then it and instead she placed it down the side. She was definitely curious at this moment, as she kept looking ahead and trying to figure out who would sit next to her. A part of her was sad that her siblings were not going to be the ones sitting there, it made this a lot more real that soon enough they would all be separated. this caused a huge lump to form in her throat, as she tried very hard not to let it just began to pour out.

Hana was so excited, even though she had no intention of actually coming through the marriage; because she had always like to meet new people. She was not going to marry anybody, she had somebody she was deeply in love with and that's the only person she needed. She didn't care about peace in the kingdoms, of course she never really understood the war that was going on, had she understood maybe it would be different. She was definitely ready to show off how exciting she was, when she got to the top of the stairs and the man was just about to introduce her that's when she got onto the railing and slid down.

"Weeee!" she said, the man looked at her with utter disgust as if she was a barbarian almost. As she slid to the bottom, she was graceful enough that she landed on her feet and that's when the man finally was able to introduce her. "Princess Hana of the East...." Hana looked around as she noticed there were assigned seating, so she quickly looked for her spot and as she passed Noelani, she tapped her shoulder and then waved at her. Finally she was able to find her seat, as she sat down and looked around at the designs and everything else.

"Hopefully Lalo is able to play and make this place a little less stuffy!" she whispered to herself, smiling a little bit as she imagined that his music might not be the best for this situation. Of course she loved any chance she would get to see him, especially since she imagine that she would definitely be crying by the end of this.

Ella followed behind the princess, she was very careful to keep her head bowed at all times and at this moment she was very different Ella. Normally Ella was very busy, trying to take care of the princess and the baby, as well as get Alek to notice her. She was for the first time able to focus on her job, knowing full well that the baby was well taken care of with her father and uncle. Ella was able to follow the princess to the table, standing behind her when she sat down as she had no intention of leaving this poor girl alone.

She looked around noticing the other princesses coming in, as she observed them very carefully to make sure they weren't going to be a problem. Ella was rather shocked by the Eastern Princess, she seemed to not have any manners and then casually just walked up to her princess. She was going to open her mouth and say something, but she decided it probably wasn't a good idea in this moment. She kept letting her mind wander to how her baby was doing, she was very curious as to if they were getting along and if the baby was fussy.

Occasionally she would let herself reach out to gently place a hand on the girl's shoulder, just letting her know that she was there and that she had no intention of abandoning her. This marriage just made her worry more about having to be separated from Alek and that their family would be separated. There was so much for her to worry about, she just didn't know what was going to happen and it worried her very badly.

Kota
Mentions: Hana and Jett ( Reiia silver Reiia silver )

Kota was not nearly as excited as his sister was for this ball. The amount of herbal tea he had drunk today reflected how nervous he was. Though meeting the locals in the forest with Jett put a very pleased and content smile on his face, the dread of mingling with people continued to set in. He desperately wished he could be more like his sister. She was so much more carefree around humans and never seemed to mind what they thought of her. Kota on the other hand only ever felt truly comfortable around his family, around Lunix, and around Jett. Most others tended to make him incredibly nervous.

While Hana had fun sliding down the bannister, Kota didn't have the courage. And he had even less courage when he took a look at what everyone else was wearing compared to himself. He'd decided to wear clothing he liked rather than the stuffy garb of the middle kingdom. And that left him looking a little...well...feminine.

"Prince Kota of the East!" the rotund man shouted to the ballroom after he shouted Hana's title. Kota hunched in on himself and nodded to the man with a sheepish smile. He was getting odd looks for his clothes, he just knew it
. How did Lunix wear his outlandish clothing and shoes and pull it off? Kota wished he could go back and change into his normal clothes, but they weren't much different, just less flashy.

He finally came to his seat next to a princess and sat down, hoping Jett would at least stay near.

Lunix was done with the library as of now, they also decided to do some last minute changes, taking out the outfit that their brother gave them and remembering how he said it was part of a middle kingdom fashion trend for formal events. They honestly didn't really buy it at first since it was from their brother but they did buy it when their sister confirmed what they said to be true. So they took out the outfit that they were given put it on and made way for the Ballroom, they honestly didn't really look forward to all the court politics and what not, but it really couldn't be helped. So they had no choice but to plaster on the fake smile and walk through the ballroom doors, they weren't really surprised by the amount of decorations figuring that the middle kingdom would wanna put on a show of their mass wealth and influence. Still they didn't much care for this peace attempt but atleast they got to get a visit out of it, which is always a fun little experience, maybe they would even find something fun to do, although they highly doubted that. Scanning the room they found many unfamiliar faces and some familiar faces as they walked through the halls with no real destination in mind. They were simply scanning all the royals, seeing Hana looking as proper as ever but upon seeing what Kota was wearing they stopped in their tracks as their face was filled with shock. He kinda expected Kota to try to wear something that felt comfortable to him but, that was not something they were expecting him to wear at all. They didn't understand why the servants would let him wear that or why they even brought that for this trip, did Kota have someone pulling the strings for him? or did they really trust Kota to pick a atleast somewhat reasonable outfit for this ball. The smile on Lunixs face as they stood still looking at Kota from a few yards away made it clear that behind that smile was internal screaming and confusion. Though it took a moment they eventually rubbed their eyes and laughed a bit on the bright side this dinner will atleast be very entertaining thanks to Kota.

Lynette - Youngest Princess of the North

To her displeasure, Lynette had to separate from Viana much earlier than she would have liked. She watched the others being called carefully, trying to memorize each name and face. She nervously glanced behind her, a habit of hers. Her lady in waiting was almost always in tow, but today she only saw an empty space. Surely, they would be able to meet again at the ball. It wasn’t that she was nervous about the event itself. She loved these kinds of things. She looked forward to any chance to dance! Plus, nobles tended to have loose lips after a few drinks - letting her hear a lot of interesting things as the night progressed. It was the looming announcement of her marriage that caused her heart to pound.

It felt like forever before her name was finally announced by the round man positioned at the top of the stairway. “Princess Lynette of the North!” The man announced in his booming voice, causing Lynette to jump. With a deep breath, she stepped forward and put on her best smile. She glided down the stairway as she had practiced many times before. Reaching the end, she held back a sigh of relief. She wasn’t necessarily clumsy, but she wouldn’t describe herself as graceful.

She made her way to the long wooden table where a few royals had already taken a seat. Spotting Braska’s name card, she assumed hers would come next. To her confusion, she found her spot quite a few seats away from her siblings’. A letter with a neat script waited for her in her place next to a prince about her age. Her eyes quickly scanned the page. While her face remained with a calm smile, she was certain the air around her had dropped several degrees - her nerves betraying her.

At the bottom of the letter, she was finally told the name of her husband-to-be. “Kota?” Lynette read the name aloud in a hushed tone.

Recharged from his nap in the viewing room, Vern felt optimistic about the night. He would show up, meet his bride, she would surely swoon over him, and it would overall go smoothly. Or at least that’s what he imagined. He didn’t pay much attention to the others being called, instead, trying to peak down towards the table in an attempt to spot his siblings. It was hard to see but it looked that Erica was already seated. If Miriam hadn’t shown yet, he was sure she would appear shortly. After all, she was the one who had lectured them on upholding the South’s image.

Prince Vern of the Southern Kingdom!” His name was finally announced. He took a moment to straighten his coat before making his way down the staircase. He quickly found his seat but soon realized it wasn’t next to his family. It certainly was an interesting way of doing things. It seemed Queen Jade was wasting no time in introducing the assigned matches. It seemed his match hadn’t arrived yet - or at least wasn’t at the table. There were a few guests up and mingling so it was possible she was one of them.

For the time being, Vern fixed his gaze on the staircase, waiting to see who else would come down.

Lady Braska of the North

Braska couldn't help but laugh quietly to herself when Leif commented on his victory over her in a game of dice the week before. Admittedly Braska was still somewhat peeved over the happenings of that night but she had done more than enough the week prior to express her anger. Hopefully, the table would be replaced by the time the Royals returned home. Drinking from her mug Braska continued to listen to Leif, his words were important to her and he always managed to hit the nail on the head when it came to advising. Finishing off her mug of mead Braska moved to refill it once again as she made her response "Do you really need to ask Leif? Of course, I'm prepared, I've been preparing for weeks. Tonight is a very important night for the future of our kingdom, tonight I will speak with nobles from all the kingdoms over and negotiate terms on trades that will give us the edge in the coming year" Taking a sip from her mug Braska paused for a second to eye the room "We are opening two new refineries and expanding mining operations in four of our biggest mines. On top of that our logging industrie is set to expand in the autumn of the coming year once I pass the papers through the council. Do not forget your job here today is to secure me more trade routes to the east and south while simultaneously cutting off deals for the west. I will tackle the nobles you the merchants, we must make a push now to ensure we push our industry even further ahead of the other Kingdoms."

Once Braska's name was called and Leif had said his piece Braska downed the remained of her mead and gave the man a firm pat on the back as well as a soft smile "Aye, I'll try my best. I won't make any promises but I'll do my very best not to cause a scene here tonight. I wish you luck with your mission and if I do end up getting a bit too drunk please ensure I'm seen out before I do any harm". And with that Braska was off to ascend the stairs and confront her fate.

Once atop the platform, Braska quickly noticed the odd sitting pattern, those assembled were sitting in an arrangement that quite honestly took the northern princess by surprise. For one her sister was sat far from where Braska had been guided and secondly she was being sat beside the shrimp they called Vern. It was obvious what was going on here even without looking at the letter she had been left. None the less Braska took to reading the note and when finished she let out a soft sigh. "So I'm to be wed to an heir... The Queen must really find this whole situation quite amusing...". Looking up from the letter Braska offered her sister a wave before handing the letter to a servant who was waiting nearby "Bring me a mug of mead and be ready to refill it many a time". The servant quickly took her letter and just as quickly she was gone.

The servant was gone for less than a minute when she reappeared with Braska's mead. The servant was tanked and asked to fetch another while Braska began drinking. A few minutes passed and not once did Braska look at Vern, not once did she call his name or attempt to engage in conversation. Instead, the Northern Princess sipped away at her mead and watched as the other Royals assembled. Her eyes were cold as was her facial expression. Braska was not pleased with having an heir as a spouse but now was not the time for her to vent her frustration so instead, she quietly kept her thoughts to herself and indulged in the fine mead the queen had provided. All the while the temperature around her slowly dropped.

Kumo sighed heavily, his ultimate fate approaching with every step he took towards the ballroom. The company of the twins walking beside him certainly made him feel better about his predicament, the anxiety rising every second he got closer to the doors. “Alek...Orion...I don’t know what to do.” Kumo paused at the doors, not being able to place his hands onto the grand doors. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, this being the first time the warrior prince was truly nervous. The idea of a ball and dinner here didn't faze him, but the thought of meeting his future wife struck fear through him. Of course, he was a social man and would love to meet other royals, but his future wife...it was as if this all too soon? Kumo turned on his heels to face the twins, ready to meet his destiny. "Wish me luck guys. Thank you for being here for me. When we get inside, you two don't need to follow me around, go find Ella, or make some friends. Have fun, you two. Don't do anything obscure- please." Kumo heard through the doors previous names, including his little sister, Noelani. The prince prayed to every god there was that his little sister will be married to a good man, especially one that could get along with Kumo. He had faith in Eliot though, he was a kind heart and respectful, any woman would be happy with him. Kumo returned to the door, continuing to think about everyone who has come along with him. Where in the world is Firmin?, Kumo wondered, not seeing his knight since he ran off in the hallway....Firmin is probably fine nonetheless....probably. With his mind finally settled, the prince closed his eyes and entered.

The white-haired prince opened his eyes as he approached the stairs as a rather large man shouted, "Prince Kumo of the West!" Kumo looked towards the man and bowed in respect, carefully walking down the stairs as he observed the ballroom. My, it was beautiful. The decor and presentation of the grand ballroom was beautiful, but the atmosphere blanketed by royals filled with nerves wasn't the best. Kumo forced a vibrant smile, his eyes scanning between the various royals, ladies, and knights that scattered the ballroom so far. Kumo let out a small huff as he noticed the assigned seating, coming up to the long table that had specific names placed in front of each seat. He looked up to see his little sister further down the table, accompanied by Ella. Thankfully Noelani had someone to comfort her. But, sadly, he knew deep down inside he wasn't going to sit next to his sister, or neither of his siblings for that matter. After mere moments, the prince figured out where he would be sitting.

Walking over to his seat, someone was already present next to where he would be seated. Off of looks alone, the princess was extremely attractive, with long, wavy, red hair that somehow paired well with her large green eyes. Her dress was magnificent, the red and gold being quite the eye catcher if her looks didn't mesmerize him enough. However, this princess did not look happy to be here in any way, shape, or form. Kumo slowly sat down beside her, picking up the letter to read what it would contain. The prince could feel the weight on his shoulders multiply, Kumo dropping the letter upon the table as he finished reading it. So, he really was to be married to a princess, and that special someone was sitting right beside him. Was that what these damned seating arrangements were for? Kumo took a deep breath to regain his composure, suddenly retaining his bubbly attitude as he turned to face the princess. With a small smile he spoke, "Hello there. I'm Prince Kumo. It's a pleasure to meet you m'lady." Kumo's words were light but sweet, the prince could only wait to see how the princess would react. If he was going off of outfit and hair color alone, she was from the South. Kumo felt it instantly, he was sure in for one hell of an adventure with this one, whether he liked it or not.

Lalo, sitting in the hall at the second table meant for unimportant people.
Interactions with NPCs as I don't want to control players))

Lalilu was seated with others matching his status. Not that there is a table designated for brilliant musicians, no Lalo was seated at a table with guests and servants. Having to bite his tongue to avoid calling out and bragging about Hana as she slid down the rail. Reaching into his robes to instead take a swig from his flask as Royalty found their seats...
A grand affair, lots of nerves and tension hidden behind fancy flair.
In fact the only thing more awkard and dressed up pretty in the hall was Prince Kota.

It is to late to leave and find the kitchen... To dangerous to sneak away for some mischievous actions with the princess.
It was slowly dawning on Lalilu what was happening.
The prince's and princesses being seated in at pairs.
He and less important people set aside as if to imply...
You are seated at the kids table, eat your food and don't cause a scene as the adults speak.

But this was not some fancy feast for royalty, this was the beginning of a arrangement.
Political marriage, a lot seemed to slip and fall into place as Lalo thought back to what he and Hana would speak of.

Ah... I should... know about this...
Those times the two would talk about everything and nothing...
yet Lalo only remembers the praise given, the intimacy shared, The beautiful lips smiling just for him.
I'm a fool, a foolish fiend who wastes his mind with dusts and drinks. What do I do?
Lalo took another long sip from his flask, shaking it a tad to confirm it was now empty before slipping it back into his robes.

Calm down, but how can I relax? To everyone here im the lowest in the room.
that whole table is of royal blood and the one I'm sitting at is all Nobles and servants... I'm no man's servant. I'm a lady's minstrel. Suppose that is another flavour of servant isn't it...

Lalilu was sitting between two empty seats, before anyone could take said place at the table Lalo would use the privacy provided to his hands to crush something considered taboo under the table. Less subtle however, was lowering his head to the table as if suddenly tired or depressed... To snort the dust in his hands.
Once cleaned on the inside of his robes Lalo took a instrument out of his pocket. He sat back up holding a ocarina to look at it in the light and continue cleaning it.
As that is what he was doing for the last five minutes. Cleaning his ocarina...

A man was staring at the bard rather focused. Lalo locked eyes with the noble once he noticed the beginning of a staring competition, only for the noble to direct his wife to stare at the bard as well.
"Lalilu!" The wife exclaims. "The bard performed at our wedding" the wife reminded the man.
Both Lalo and the noble made noises of remembering.
"ah"
"Ah Yes, Skilled im sure..."
"Hush Harwood, that night was magical" the wife seemed annoyed that this Harwood fellow wasn't as impressed. Lalo was on edge for a different reason looking back toward Hana with his ocarina in front of him.

"Salutations Lalilu!" The woman called from a few seats away "shall you be playing tonight?"
"Cease the inane!.."
Lalo's eyes softened as he realised his voice was beginning to rise
"I apologise ma'am... i thought i heard the buzzing of a purple moth, terribly allergic you see. I get nervous around that sound.. haha"
Both Harwood and the lady search in the air for a moment looking worried
"oh everyone has disdain for those blasted bugs.."

Lalo smiled as sheepishly as one could act. Putting his instrument away he reached for his empty flask though as it hadn't magically refilled itself. Lalo drummed his fingers on the table and thought of simple dreams instead.

Otrygg smiled at what the politician had to say, about how he should not go to the North any time soon. "The same can be said for you, Northerner." The Northerner then introduced himself as Lief Volkov, a noble and advisor to Lady Braska. Now Otrygg was not to familiar with Northern politics, but he did at least know the name of the Heir Contestant. "And that would be the reason why. Southerners don't need a reason to hate the North, but it certainly doesn't help to give them a reason."

Glancing over to Airin as she finished speaking, Otrygg nodded in agreement. "Aye, we'll find a way." That way just so happened to be walking in the same direction for who knew how long, discussing this and that, back and forth. Otrygg tried to make it clear that his allegiance lied with the South, though he hid exactly why that was. He did not want Lief to get any leverage on him, as nice as the man seemed. But eventually, they bid each other adieu and parted ways. The next time they would see each other wouldn't be until the Ball later tonight. In the mean time, he familiarized himself with the castle, pointing out servant entrances and discussing potential ways to quickly traverse the castle with Airin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
By the time the Ball began, Otrygg had instructed the Guards that had accompanied him on how to best protect the Southern Royalty. "Prioritize Lady Erica and Lord Vern, Lady Miriam will be able to protect herself for a time, and I will not be far from her. And please don't start anything with the other Knights, we are here to make peace, not start a bar room brawl."
Otrygg himself was dressed in his finest. A cuirass, finely polished and with gold leaf, over a red shirt and paired with a pair of simple black pants and boots. His hair was combed neatly and slicked back, with his mustache waxed and curled oiled to a fine point. The most jarring part of this ensemble was the ever present fur cloak that represented his status as Lord Commander of the Aldor Weard.
Reaffirming his orders and the point to not start fights, Otrygg dismissed the guards. Turning around, he surveyed the field of battle. Nobles from every Kingdom were mingling, most behind masks of pleasantry, but a few genuinely enjoying themselves. Years of hatred could not be simply snapped away, but this was at least a start. His gaze drifting over to the table where the Royalty was sat, he saw something that concerned him slightly. And that was how they were all simply ignoring each other. That certainly wouldn't do.
Walking over to the long table where the Royalty were taking their seats, he went first to Vern. Judging by the looks of the woman that sat across from him and the dropping temperature, she was one of the Northern Princesses, most likely the eldest of the two. And if he remembered correctly, that meant this was Braska, a warrior princess much like Miriam. Perhaps....
Leaning down so as to be more easily heard, Otrygg spoke to Vern. "M'lord, I must remind you that though we are far from home, your training hasn't stopped. Your swordsmanship improves leaps and bounds everyday, but there are still things that need to be worked out." Straightening out, he turns and gives a small smile and a nod to Braska. "I do say, it's wonderfully cool here." After that, his smile was quickly replaced with one of remembrance. He leaned down once more, this time so as only Vern could here. "Cat On Hot Sand." Cat On Hot Sand was a swordsman stance best described by keeping ones back straight while the rest of their body remains relatively loose. A subtle way of telling Vern to sit up straight.
The next one he got to was Erica. "M'Lady, it's so good to see you, I hardly ever do. Perhaps one day I'll get you out of the library and put at least a knife in your hands." A broad smile could be seen on his face, further curling the corners of his mustache. Looking at her partner, he deduced that this man was from the Eastern Kingdom, off of the garb he wore. He was not as familiar with the Eastern Royalty, but he could only assume that this was the eldest prince. "Well, I might be seeing you even less now. These wars will be over and done soon, and there'll be no need for old soldiers like me. Scholars like you will be needed. And perhaps it'll be you teaching me, and not the other way around." Giving a nod to the two, he bid himself farewell.
He did not see Miriam, but he was also not sure if her name had been called or not. He saw her spot at the table was empty, so he assumed she simply had not arrived yet. Very possible, this blasted castle would turn even his finest cartographers around and drawing nothing but ever more intricate circles, that he was certain of.
Jessie Eldest Prince of the East
Location:Ball
Mentions: Kumo, Ella, Elliot, The Twins, Kota, Azriel, The Queen, Lalo, Hana, Noelani
Jessie despite his best efforts was one of the last to show up to the ball. Panting softly as he walked through the doors from rushing through the castle. He knew why he was late so there wasn’t really any excuse, trying to get dressed into fancy clothes with one hand is a rather big struggle and of course he refused any help from the maids. As he walked in he took a look around the room. Brushing a hand over his hair to make sure it looked nice before he started to the royalty table. He was the last one there to no surprise and chuckled embarrassingly as he got to his seat and sat down. “I apologize for my lateness everyone. Had some troubles getting dressed.” He admitted as he looked down to the note sitting in front of him.
With diligent eyes he read over it before seeing the name of the woman he was to marry. After a moment of looking it over he smiled as he said the name. “Noelani.” In a soft tone before glancing around the table to see if anyone else had already found there future partner. His nervousness flooded into his eyes as he watched the other royals, more specially the women. Which one of them had his name? And on top of that would they be off put by his arm? It was nerve racking to think about and he couldn’t help but silently wish that whoever it was doesn’t notice the empty right sleeve of his outfit as the first thing
Noelani was forever grateful to have a lady like Ella. Especially at events like this she was so regal in her demeanor she wished she could switch places with her and give her the title of princess. She already viewed her as a sister so would it really be so far of a stretch? She placed her hand over the one Ella placed on her for comfort and gave it a light squeeze whispering back to her, "Thank you for being here." To an extent she knew it was her duty to be here for her, but there were tables for the ladies and other nobles for them to be able to sit if they wanted. She didn't expect Ella to stand here the whole time with her, even if she would've liked her to deep down. Ella was loyal and probably would if she asked, but there was no telling how long this would be and she didn't want her feet to ache as well as keep her from Alek and her child for too long. "Whenever you are comfortable, you don't have to stay, I know you'll want to check on the little one too." She turned to smile softly at her, but there was a hint of an apology in her eyes because she knew how hard and scary this marriage thing must be for her as well. Her family hung in the balance as much as her own.
Noelani was quickly distracted by Hana's grand entrance. She expected nothing less from the girl she'd meet earlier and while others looked at her with disgust, she was beaming with joy and giggled at the sight. As the princess made her way over to her and gave her a light tap Noelani grinned brightly and waved in return. She definitely wanted to hang out more with her. Someone's who spirit was even more wild than her own. Admittedly she'd feel more free to do such things if Kumo wasn't such a stickler on her. She turned her head slightly to whisper to Ella, "I like her. I met her and another in the garden earlier." She chimed to fill Ella in on why they seemed so friendly since what just happened wasn't commonplace.
She couldn't get out much more as her eyes wondered to the next Easter arrival. Her eyes went wide as saucers at his attire. She'd never seen much of anyone, but especially not a male dress in such a way. She didn't hate it in fact she was fascinated by it. It looked so enticing, and definitely more exotic than she was used to. She'd heard stories about how different the Eastern kingdom was, but she never imagined this. As he made his way to sit beside him she offered him a warm smile since while he wasn't her intended he was definitely going to be at least her brother -in-law. As a few other royals poured in it was clear by the seating arrangement he was not her intended. What a shame that would've been fun. She looked back out to the crowd and saw not only Lalilu , whom she'd met earlier, but another noble dressed in equally very different styles from the rest of the guest and could only assume that the noble was also from the East, since she already knew Lalilu was. She was starting to think maybe getting sent to the East wouldn't be so bad if they are so accepting of such a wide range of people and bold personalities. Perhaps it would be the one place other then home she might be accepted for who she is.
Speaking of home she hear Kumo's name being announced and watched him walk in. As he got closer she gave him a smile and a wave knowing he wouldn't get to come all the way to her. She could see the nerves he was hiding from the rest of the world. She supposed no matter who you are this whole thing had to be nerve wreaking in some way shape or form. She sighed softly as the table filled. She peeked over at the name tag beside her figuring she might as well know her betroths name, but as soon as she read the name the announcer called it. Her eyes lifted to the sight of him. He looked very different than from Hana and Kota, but that wasn't something that bothered her. She liked different it was exciting to her. He apologized as he neared the table, tough she wasn't sure what for. Sure he wasn't one of the first to arrive but at least his arrival meant his whole nations royalty was present. Everyone else still had one person not there. Speaking of which where was Elliot? She knew he was probably fine, but this was new territory. She hadn't seen him since leaving the gardens earlier.
As he sat down beside her, she wondered to herself what he meant by difficulty getting dressed? Didn't he have attendants to help? Before she could ask she heard him say her name while reading the letter. Oh..so it was in the letter too? She really should pay more attention, "Yes?" She chimed letting a smile curl onto her lips. Everything so far about the east was so different and exciting she was surprisingly excited to get to know him. "Pleasure to meet you. Oh and this is my lady Ella," She grinned gesturing towards her friend. "I know she's beautiful, but she's spoken for so no funny business." she laughed shooting him a playful wink. It was pretty important for him now to realize how much the West like to joke around if he was going to handle her, the twins, and Elliot during their stay. Bonus points if it got Ella to blush a little.
Lady Ruby
Mentions: Kumo, Eastern Royals, Vern, Miriam
Interactions: Erica Reiia silver Reiia silver
Ruby had been attending to Princess Erica all day, but this Ball was probably the most important part of the day for her to be there for her princess as much as she could. She could only imagine how awful, and nerve wreaking this whole experience must be for her. She followed behind her silently as she approached the table. On the way up she pulled one of the servants aside and requested Erica's favorite drink to be served immediately. She didn't mean for it to come out sounding so demanding and intimidating, but that was her natural state and her eyes didn't help. She always looked intense for some reason, but it also get results. She stayed beside her once she'd been seated and looked around at the other royals and nobles of the court. Some already starting to enjoy themselves due to not having the burden of uniting kingdom for peace on their heads.
As the royals slowly trickled in she noticed the vast difference in not only demeanor between her royals and the others, but everything from their dress and manners too. She supposed she knew there would be some cultural differences, but it seemed so extreme, and this was only after a single generation of being apart. She could only imagine what this would've looked like a generation or two down the line. There might not be any common ground left. Though the East certainly took the cake on being the most...different. Soon after Vern's arrival the drink she'd requested arrived for Erica, "M'lady would you like me to pour some in your cup? I asked them for your favorite, let us hope it can hold a candle to the way it's prepped at home." She smiled warmly at her. She wanted nothing but the best for her, and that included her husband to be. She also wanted a good first impression for her and figured the more relaxed she could get her the better those odds would be.
She does notice that Miriam is not here yet, and wonders where she could be. She honestly was expecting her to be one of the first to arrive. She sort of thought the arrivals would come in some sort of order rather then just whenever the royal decided to make their appearance. she wondered how the Queen would react if a royal had decided to skip on this evening s festivities. Not a wise decision, but one that could technically be made. Once Kumo sat down beside her it was clear that this man was her intended. He at least decided to go ahead and speak up to her in a kind fashion. It gave her hope, but Ruby still wasn't about to leave until she was absolutely sure her Princess was comfortable and taken care of.
Alek and Orion glanced around before sitting down at the table with the rest of the servants. They didn't immediately pay mind to who they were sitting next to. They were off in their own twin world as they often were. As they observed all the future couples, including their darling Prince Kumo, the twins let out two simultaneous and overdramatic sighs.
"They grow up so fast, don't they brother?" Orion said acting as though he was on the verge of weeping.
"So true!" Alek agreed. He took a moment to stand Jace up on his lap letting her bounce to her hearts content and smiling at her adorable giggles.
"Of course my darling Jacey~pie will never grow up She's going to stay daddy's little princess forever! Right Jacey?" He asked. Jace simply laughed at his antics. He smiled once more giving her a raspberry on her cheek. She bounced harder at the ticklish sensation on her cheek which made her dress bounce adorably.
"Look at my niecey~poo in her adorable dress!" Orion gushed, "Your most certainly gonna have to beat the boys and the girls off of her when she grows up!" He said poking her chubby, little cheek.
Aleksander gave a scandalized gasp, an affronted expression on his face. "I already told you she's not going to grow up so that's not going to be an issue!" He insisted
Eliot
Youngest prince of the West
Interactions: Hana ( Reiia silver Reiia silver )
Mentions: Braska ( Uasal Uasal ), Vern ( Mooniee Mooniee )
Eliot enjoyed social events. He always was an extrovert by nature, and he very much enjoyed talking. Of course, the bastard prince of the west could be spotted easily among the crowds with his aqua hair and small crowds as he gave tales of his misadventures and good deeds alike. Wide gestures were given as he regailed everyone with the tale of the time his horse ran away during practice because it got spooked by Kumo. Yet, despite all the fun he was having, Eliot couldn't help but stare at the table he would eventually be called to. Gears had began turning, but his general plan remained the same. He was honestly scared, but he knew what the consequences would be. Eliot thought back to his reasons and remembered his life up until this point. Then he thought about Queen Jade's plan and it made him want to laugh. Servants began bustling around one particular area of the tables during the calling process. The servants seemed quite panicked, and it wouldn't be hard to see why if one examined the situation.
Braska, Eldest princess of the Northern Kingdom was sitting next to Vern, the south's only prince. Eliot felt himself scream internally at the sight of this. He knew none of these people personally, but he did know the unique situation. The North was in a succession war between the eldest princess and only prince. The fact that Braska had been the one to ask for the throne, according to what Eliot knew, he could easily see why the servants were panicking in silence. After watching a few too many servers give the northern princess alcohol, he really had to wonder what was going on in Queen Jade's mind.
That was another thing. Eliot had known the honorific to be given to the queen as 'grandmother' which was funny since he never met the woman. Perhaps it spoke to something of what she expected, and that's where Eliot's frustrations really began to take hold. He never really called anyone father. Neither the Western King nor his mother's husband ever earned that right from him. After all, one was hell bound on removing him from their life and the other just didn't do much of anything. Eliot believed his mother earned her right to be his parent since she had done nothing but love and support him, and he had worked to earn his relationship with his half siblings. Did Queen Jade earn the right for him to call her grandmother? Perhaps he would find out once he met her, but she had done nothing in his life until now. Even then, the only thing she has done is decide his fate. That irked him the most. This enigmatic 'grandmother' was deciding his fate despite not knowing him at all.
Someone tapped his shoulder and Eliot was pulled out of his trance. Suddenly, someone called "Prince Eliot of the West!" with a deal of frustration. Eliot grinned awkwardly and thanked the guest who had pulled him out of his funk. He patted his jacket on his formal suit which was a mix of layered blues with a deep blue holding a coral pattern on the outermost vest. A personally tailored suit which he thought highlighted his gentlemanly charm well. It didn't take a genius to see that even from afar, the seating was by future spouse. Once he found his seat, his eyes were greeted to see a familiar face. After reading the information on the table he grinned.
"Good to see you again. I must say, I should count myself lucky to find myself suddenly betrothed to a beautiful girl with a young spirit," Eliot started after he was fully seated. He turned around to look Hana in the eye and smiled gently as he put his hand to his chest and bowed his head. "Of course, I will apologize in advance that you have the misfortune of being my spouse. Noentheless, I hope we can spend good years together."
Eliot moved to the letter and smirked at its contents. "Well then, I think I'll take her up on this line of 'I assure you we can all work together.' This is going to be good ammunition in a short time. Also how funny to assume everyone's going to be perfectly cooperative..." Eliot glanced again to Braska and Vern where he noticed a draft coming directly from. "Perhaps I have one potential supporter in what I'm about to say."
A look of boredom stayed on Vern’s face as he watched each royal be called. Of course, he noticed the arrival of his spouse - but chose to stay silent. He wanted her to speak up first. Or at least introduce himself. Instead, she only barked orders for more alcohol. What a charmer. Unlike Braska, Vern couldn’t help but steal a glance or two towards her, only finding an icy expression plastered on her face. She seemed to be the epitome of an ice queen. The longer Braska stayed silent, the more irritated he became. Why wouldn’t she just say something? No ‘hello’ or ‘nice to meet you’? If she wanted to stay silent, then so be it! He, at least, was going to enjoy the ball.
About to speak up, Otrygg came to break the silence himself, mentioning Vern’s training. He internally groaned, hoping that this trip could be considered a vacation. Instead, he simply responded with, “Of course.” Unfortunately, it seemed training never stopped. He would never voice these complaints to Otrygg, especially in such a formal setting. Although, he supposed he didn’t have the luxury of taking time off if he ever hoped to claim victory over Miriam in a duel. As Otrygg brought up the cool air, Vern realized how much the temperature had dropped since he had sat down. He shivered. Was she trying to freeze him to death? Between that stare and the air around him, Vern felt he would soon turn to ice himself.
“Cat on Hot Sand” was softly said to him, surely to keep the woman next to him from hearing. Vern watched Otrygg move down the table towards Erica. It at least made him aware of his posture - which was less than perfect. He had been so lost in thought that he hadn’t noticed himself hunching. It wasn’t like Braska would have noticed anyway. Had she even taken one look towards him since taking her place at the table? Of course she had! It must have been while he was looking away, right?
The way he saw it, Vern had two options. Either he stays silent until she breaks and finally speaks up, or he skips right to his introductions. He had to admit, the first option was quite tempting. It was as if he didn’t exist to her so why should he have to speak first? However, it was a ball and others were sure to notice if the two gave each other the cold shoulder the entire time. First fixing his posture, he shifted in his chair to face towards her, giving her a smile. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Prince Vern.”
Lady Braska of the North
Braska continued to quietly sip at her mead while she watched the royals assemble at the table, almost everyone had arrived and almost everyone was already engaging in pleasantries with their future partner. There were of course exceptions and it came as no surprise considering the situation at hand but for the most part, things were proceeding a lot smoother than Braska had anticipated. Braska however still hadn't even so much as glanced at Vern nor had she made an attempt to strike up a conversation. In fact, the only time Braska had so much as made a sound was when Kumo's name had been announced and she instinctually sucked her teeth in distaste. Braska loathed sitting at the same table as Kumo but as an Heir, she had no right to disgrace herself by causing a scene here today. No matter how much she wanted to kill the man, tonight was not the night to do so.
As Braska contemplated several ways to subtly insult Kumo, Otrygg approached Vern and consequently began discussing the prince's training. The whole situation with Otrygg was odd, his words were out of place for such an event and Braska could only conclude that the man was speaking in code. Either that or he was attempting to break the ice using training as a means to set the young prince up with an in to discuss something Braska was known to enjoy. Either way, Braska cared very little for the wingman approach. If the Prince needed his military commander/advisor to assist him in courting a woman there was even less hope for the shrimp of a Prince.
Otrygg finished speaking with the prince and offered Braska a smile and nod of his head which Braska returned with a smile of her own. Braska, of course, knew who Otrygg was. He was a famous southern commander with many notable achievements under his belt and while he wasn't a member of the northern ranks Braska had respect for the man as a fellow commander. When Otrygg made a comment on how cool the area was Braska couldn't help but stifle a laugh. The area had indeed become quite cool what with both northern Princesses passively conditioning the air but at the same time, this was bound to happen given the circumstances of tonight's ball. Indeed all things considered it was highly likely Lynette would outright end up freezing something sooner or later as the night continued and her emotions ran higher.
Otrygg moved on after a quiet whisper to the Prince and soon after Otrygg moved on Vern introduced himself to Braska breaking the long silence the two had held. Braska however immediately let out a sigh before downing the rest of her mead and ordering yet another. The Northern Princess was not amused. "Do you really think it is becoming of a future king to have a commander, or anyone for that matter, tease him into courting a woman? Can you not say hello on your lonesome? Should I call the commander back so he can give you more pointers on how to speak with Noblewomen? I can organize him a seat beside you if you'd like? He could hold your hand and walk you through this!". Not once during this rant did Braska turn to look at Vern, not once did she even contemplate doing so but had she seen the child king shivering she likely would have walked then and there. Taking a new drink from one of the servants Braska returned to sipping quietly "Ridiculous... absolutely ridiculous... I am Braska, firstborn to the Northern King and an heir contestant. Unfortunately, I am to be your wife. Try your best not to bring disgrace to my name."
Braska was not happy at all with her partner, he was an heir as well as a child apparently. None the less Braska was wise enough to know going against the Middle Queens wishes was a fool's endeavor. Also where the hell was Argenix! Surely he wasn't going to skip out on the ball... surely not...
Looking down the table towards Lynette Braskadid her best to make eye contact with the girl. Once she had Lynette's attention Braska motioned to the empty seat while rolling her eyes. What the hell was he up to!?
Hana was not really paying attention to who was coming towards the table, the person who would be her husband. She figured at some point there was going to be ample opportunities to get out of this marriage, so she wasn’t too worried about it even though she probably should have been very worried about it. Her outfit showed her maturity, as it was easy to move around and sneak away if she needed to, she wanted so badly to go sit with Lalo but knew that that was not going to be a good thing to do and so she shook her head.
Suddenly, she heard a voice as she looked over at him, surprised at how he seemed to have really good manners. She almost felt guilty in that moment from the fact that he had to marry someone who didn’t seem to have manners at all. “Beautiful?” Her cheeks were light red as she turned away, it was pretty easy to flirt with her and to gain her trust, something she hated about herself. “Yeah, I suppose we can work together and you’re probably better than me…. I am very immature and I don’t intend on changing!” She made it pretty obvious, as she nervously reached for a drink.
She then remembered the complement he had paid her, as she quickly attempted to answer him. “You are also-- you’re also very beautiful-- I mean! Handsome, you are very handsome!” She felt embarrassed that she made the mistake of calling him beautiful, she hoped that he would not take offense to that.
She spent a little time deep in her thoughts, she was trying to figure out what exactly was going to be expected of her from this young man. “I’m sorry, I truly am not trying to come off as rude, especially since you were put in this position by force also…. But, what you expect from me? I mean-- as your wife? I don’t think I’d make a very good wife, I just don’t think I have it in me….”
She was tempted to excuse herself from the table, but the more she looked around she had lost her nerve to try that. “Were probably expected to have children….. Probably boys, even though girls are able to rule the kingdoms!” She seemed to put herself back a little bit, as she stuck out her bottom lip into a pout.
Erica was being her typical stuffy self, as she sat at the table eyeing it very carefully and observing the people around her very carefully especially the people she didn’t know. She was also very curious to see what her husband would look like, hoping maybe he would be somebody she could manipulate into doing things her way. She wanted to rule, not be governed by some man, perhaps there was a chance they could work together and conquer many a land together. This almost caused her to smile, but that’s when she saw a man walked up and sit down at the table. She blinked for a moment, as she tried to figure out what was the best approach.
“I am Princess Erica, the pleasure is all mine….” She held out her hand to receive a kiss upon it, as that was a form of greeting and she wanted to make sure he was up for the task. She couldn’t believe that he was so handsome, of course she didn’t know what she was expecting for that. She was not often around such handsome individuals, except for her brother and that was easy because he was her brother. Suddenly she became increasingly sad, knowing that she would not get to see her brother or sister for nobody knew how long. They would have time before they were married, but that time would probably go very fast.
“I apologize, but this marriage-- it’s not anything I want, I’m simply doing it because if I do not I will let my whole kingdom down! I do hope, that we can get along but that is only if you are intelligent… I have no desire to marry a complete idiot, so tell me! Are you smart?” It was clearly an important topic for her, she even lifted her eyebrow just a little bit as she stared at him carefully. She did take notice when he had been so kind earlier, but she was definitely not wanting him to take her for a week person. She had her weird little quirks, but in her mind that was something that he was going to have to get over. “I should like a library, eventually I want to fill it with every single book in the world…. And I will read each and every one of them!”
she had not done it on purpose, but it took her a moment to realize that she had actually just ignored her lady in waiting. She hated treating the girl so bad, but she really didn't know how to treat them often because she didn't have very many friends. Her lady in waiting was more like a friend or family than a servant, even though she knew that it was probably not a good idea to tell everybody about their friendship. "I will take a drink--thank you--Ruby!"
