Roje was sitting in her Cell in the corner, keeping herself huddled there, digging deep in her mind "What do they want.." she said softly to herself, putting her hands on her head. Closing her eyes and trying to clear her mind Come on..why do they bother me so much..what do they want... She seen ghosts. Not the typical ghost but its kinda like seeing the dead as faded images. But this worked out to make her go insane. Her mind blocked out the ghosts whenever she had the will power, but as soon as she let her guard down, it was pain galore and screaming her lungs off. Her room was padded so if this happened, she wouldnt smack herself against a wall.
'Roje. It's time to see Doctor Shiro now.' one of the nurses said, causing her to look over from the corner and at the nurse. She slowly nodded and got out of her corner, raising to her feet and resting her hand on the wall 'Take your time, Roje..' the woman said, watching as Roje made her way over and the nurse opened the door for her. As Roje stepped out, she looked down the dark hallway, lights only be emitted from the various rooms in the hall. Even though there was rooms, this was a quiet hall, where things arent as extreme as they are in other halls where you have screaming and banging people. Walking by the other cells, most were sleeping or mumbling to themselves. She was glad that she was nothing like them.
The nurse led her to Doctor Shiro's office. As soon as they made it to the door, the nurse knocked and let Roje in 'Dont be afraid to answer his questions, Roje' she said before closing the door and walking off. Leaving Roje in the room, looking at the doctor. Slowly, she made her way to the chair and she took a deep breath, trying to go back to her old personality rather then trying to be fragile "What is it that you need?" she asked.
Shiro was sitting on his chair, looking at Roje with a kindly smile. She has been here for quite a while and ever since she got here Shiro had been her psychiatrist and doctor. "So Roje, the nurses have told me that you still refuse to take your medications." He said, sounding as if he's a parent who scolds his kid for forgetting to bring their umbrella on a rainy day.
Roje narrowed her eyes a bit "Because I dont want to take them. You try taking a whole bunch of pills every day. It gets annoying. Especially when I dont want anything to eat and everyone still wants to give me medication." her expression looked less then pleased. She looked a little angry "You cant blame me for not wanting my medication. It didnt even work the first time, all they did was make me sleepy or make me feel sick." she didnt like being here sometimes, but she had to deal with it. She crossed her arms and leaned back in the chair "I hate it here sometimes." she admitted, not sure what else to say at the moment
(also, if you didnt know, her name is pronounced Row-Jay)
Shiro sighed, having heard that excuse a lot of times here. "Look, I'm not going to force you to take them, but you need to take your medications." He said to her, looking her in the eyes. "Look, all I want to do is to help you get better and I can't do that if you won't help yourself in the first place." He explained.
Roje met his eyes "I need to but I dont want to." she said for his first statement before she went and answered the next "I have been here for 5 years. Its obvious i'm not going to get better. Nothing has worked, ever." everything she went through, none of it helped. Those faces and dead people always came back to drive her insane. But she wasnt going down without a fight. "What more can you do for me? Huh? Cause I bet you there is no other way to help me at this point!"
Shiro just looked at her. Stubborn patients weren't new to him, in fact, most of them were very stubborn. But usually those were the ones who finally succumbed to insanity, those beyond the point of no return. "Yes, there may no longer be a cure, but do you really just want to give up? Do you want to end up like those who are what you may finally call cray and insane?" He asks her, not wanting to give up on her.
"I will not endup like those in that crazy ward! I am keeping myself from even going that far." she was standing at this point "I'm tried of trying. Nothing is working, nothing new is coming in to cure whatever sickness I have! Whats the point of fighting when I dont have anything to help me fight!?" her hands were in fists, and she started trembling slightly. Her Jaw clenched and she looked at the floor, "I cant do it anymore.." she was tired of fighting all alone. Nothing helped..it just surpressed them for a limited time.
Shiro suddenly banged his hand on the table, momentarily becoming angry before regaining her composure. "Some of those in the crazy ward were once my patients. They were just like you, still having some sense of sanity, but then they just gave up, and look where they are right now. Isn't there anything worth becoming sane for to you?" He asks her, wanting her to have a sense of purpose and an inspiration.
Roje lifted her head and looked at him Who knew he could get so pissed. she thought to herself before she spoke "I have nothing to look foward to out in the real world. My cousin stopped visiting. My mom stopped visiting. No one cares about me anymore. They just think i'm a crazy woman in the Insane ward! I have nothing to live for but myself. Nothing can make me change my mind at this rate, Shiro. Nothing." she forced her tears back that were threatning to fall out "I doubt theres anything left for me."
Shiro sighed. "Well, I'm not sure if this counts, but I do care. I want to see you get better, to live a normal life outside." He said to her, not wanting to lose another patient. "Please, I can't help you if you've already given up."
"Then convince me to change my mind." she stated "If you can get me to change my mind, well, things will go well. If you cant, well. My mind will stay the way it is right now." she had no one but this doctor apparently "Its so hard. Living in a cell and feeling like a caged animal. Thinking when did your brain turn so cruel and make you go insane." she shook her head "My head took a turn for the worst and led me here. What if nothing works at all? I have no choice but to give up."
Shiro had thought about this for quite a while, but he swore to only try this in serious situation, such as this one. "Fine then. Look, we're trying out a new method in therapy. Instead of leaving you here, you will stay with me instead. Not only can I monitor your activities better, the change of environment might also help you." He said to her.
Roje started at him for a moment "So..you get to take me to your home?" she asked, it sounded like it Do I really get to get out of this place for a limited time and see the real world? Being here has been the worst for me..if I can get outside... There was hope in her eyes and she didnt even know it, though, Shiro would've noticed "Can you really do that? Take me out of here?" she wanted out. She wanted to see colors and animals and other things of life.
Shiro nodded in response to her question. "Yes, you can be the test patient to see if this type of treatment is effective. They're giving us 5 months, if this method renders positive results, then this will be implemented as part of the protocol." He explained. "So, will you participate in this?"
Roje put her hands on his desk and she nodded "Hell yeah i'm participating in this." she was going to get the heck outta this place "Its been too long. Being pulled from the world for such a long time. I need this. I want this." she said with a slight smile "Do we start today? Please tell me we start today." she was like a little kid going into a candy shop. Shiro had made her change her mind so quickly, she was sort of surprised that her mind changed so suddenly
Shiro smiled at her, pleased with the enthusiasm she's showing. Just as he thought, most of the patients here are just dying to see the outside world and being withdrawn from it just doesn't help them. "Well, you're coming home with me later afternoon, so you better pack your things." He said to her.
Roje nodded "I can do that..Though this is the only clothing I have..just duplicates." she had her white tee, grey jogging pants and then slippers for her feet given by the nurse so her socks didnt get dirty, The slippers were only allowed to be used outside the cells. Her clothes, she had the same ones, just about 4 pairs if she wanted to change "What do I do untill the afternoon then?" she asked her doctor, wondering what he'll tell her to do while she waited.
"Well, I guess I could go shopping some clothes for you." Shiro said, mostly to himself. He was excited to see her like this, as if she had found a new purpose and hope. "Well, you can go with your daily activities until I call for you." He said, smiling at her.
Roje rolled her eyes "My daily activities consist on napping and drowning myself in my thoughts." she informed him "Thank you, Though. This means allot." she said before walking to the door and opening it to reveal a nurse to lead her back. She looked back at Doctor Shiro "I look forward to getting the hell out of here." grinning, she closed the door and walked off with her nurse to her cell. Just as Roje got there, she packed up her clothes and anything else she had that was important and she layed on her bed, smiling, glad to be getting out
After a couple of hours, Dr. Shiro, now dressed in his casual clothes, passed by Roje's room. "Hey, you ready to go or did you decide to stay here?" He asked her when the nurse opened the door, although he was pretty sure he knew the answer to it.
Roje looked over and she grabbed her bag "You know that i'm ready to go. No way am I staying in here." she walked over to the door and grinned, walking past him "Come on lead the way." all she wanted was to get out of here and see the world again. And she couldnt wait "Make me wait any longer and i'm gonna leave you behind." she smirked I finally get to see the world again..multiple colors, trees, plants..everything. And I can finally get some fresh air!
Shiro grinned as he saw her enthusiasm, getting really high hopes for this treatment. "Well if you leave me behind then you're walking all the way there, if you know where it is." He said as he caught up, insisting on carrying her bag. He led her to a generic looking 4 seater car, heck, it's even hard to tell what brand it was. "What? I bought this years back and it still works perfectly." He said as he got in.
Roje rolled her eyes "Pfft, as if I know where it is. I'd just ask around." she followed him as he took her bag. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach as she followed him to a car "What the hell? This looks older then my grandma." she laughed and got in, putting her seatbelt on and opening her window, (I'm guessing his car is in the Hospital garage thing for staff ) "Come on, lets go. I wanna get out of this horrible place already. Even if we are in this part of the Hospital." to be free once again was amazing.
Shiro just chuckled. "Well, you could do that, but you would probably just get even more lost." He said as he drove off. "And by the way, you must have a really young grandma for her to be younger than my car." He said, stopping for a red light.
