It was early in the morning and Crya was still lying in bed, trying to convince herself to finally get up and get the day started. She sighed softly as she pushed the covers off of herself and climbed out of bed, slowly making her way out of her room and into the kitchen to make herself coffee. As she did, she could hear people running around the apartment building. It wasn’t that weird to her, especially since the kids in the building often ran around the halls. Today it was a bit louder than usual. She grabbed her cup and poured herself a bit before making her way into the living room, taking a sip while turning the TV on.
Crya frowned, thinking her TV wasn’t working. She started to flip the channels, stopping when she got to the news channel.
‘Recent reports state that there's been an increase in the number of canabalistic crimes. Please stay indoors and lock all the doors. Help should be on its way soon.”
Crya quickly turned off the TV, shaking her head. She snapped her head toward the door, hearing screaming coming from down the hall. She walked over to the door and took a peek out of the peephole, but she couldn’t see anything because it was blocked. Crya placed her hand on the doorknob, thinking about what to do. It seemed stupid to just open the door, but it’s not like she’d do it completely. Just enough to see what was going on, and that’s exactly what she did. She opened the door just enough to see what was happening. Bodies all over the floor, covered in blood. Massive chunks were taken out of them. She quickly slammed the door, pressing her body against it while thinking of what to do.

Crya was still in the apartment complex, going from room to room. She only stayed on the second story, which she had cleared and blocked off. She found out that she was on her last can of corn, which meant she would have to leave. Either to a different section or completely leave the building altogether. “Well, I can’t stay here forever. Help obviously isn’t coming.” She mumbled to herself, deciding to pack up and find somewhere else to go.
Once she was completely ready, she started to make her way over to the staircase to see if it was cleared. Crya pressed her ear against the door, listening carefully and heard nothing. She went to unlock the door, the clicking just loud enough to be heard by the ones she didn’t hear. When she opened the door to peek inside, they all started to run out too quick for her to slam the door completely closed.
Crya ended up slamming the door, knocking down a few of them before quickly turning and running back into the first opened room she saw. She locked the door and quickly when to push a couch against it. As she struggled, they continued to bang on the door, pushing all of the weight onto it. She knew that even with the couch there, they’d probably soon bust in. Crya ran over to the window, unlocking it and basically throwing herself out. Once she was on the fire escape, she made her way down as fast as she could.
