YITAH

Looking around at the increasing density of buildings, Yitah sighed to himself. Back to the daily grind, he thought to himself - still, it wasn't all bad. "Yes, you are right. Company is good. Good for the soul. It is always nice to have someone to talk to when you want it, and someone to help you when you need it." Slipping his notebook back into the folds of his thick coat, causing the number 217 to be briefly visible on the front of the book, Yitah looks towards Crystal with relief in his eyes.

"Well, here we are. Safe and sound. Do you wish me to accompany you to your home?" In truth, Yitah wasn't ready to call it a day of adventuring, but as he looked up he noticed the sun hanging fairly low in the sky - mid afternoon, at least, as he guessed. Bit too late to start another adventure. As he heard Crystal speak again, Yitah's grating, harsh voice spoke up again. "And I'm glad I could help you, Crystal."

FOX

Fox's own pale green eyes locked with Sage's, before closing harshly as she messed up his fur once again. At this point, he was getting used to it. In a way, he enjoyed it. As Sage answered, he looked back to her. "A café? Alright, why not. Perhaps I could share my previous findings with you - like I was before I had to plunge my arm into the pond." He smiles in humour as he speaks, but then twists into a smirk. "Or, we could talk of other things. Like what people do when they're on a date." Barely able to hold in his giggling, he continued listening to Sage. "Oh, don't worry about my arm. I have plenty, and besides - there's a reason I use cheap, expendable material to hide my arm with. It makes it a lot easier to replace when you have attachments like magical absorbers, pneumatics daggers and the like."

Fox's fur - his actual fur, and not the old rug he sticks over his right arm - danced gently in the wind as the breeze passed over him. His body seemed to react to it, too, almost nestling into the breeze. His fur was good at keeping his warm, but it was uncomfortable on a summer's day. Looking around himself, Fox seemed to know exactly which café Sage was going to. After all, it was his job to know the city and everything in it.

Crystal
Noticing the number on the front of Yitah's journal she was rather surprised at how large of a number it was. The dragon's best guess was that number must of meant the number he's on. Meaning that he must have gone through 216 journals prior to the one he was carrying around. Crystal bet that the Yuan-Ti had been around for a long time, perhaps not as long as she had perhaps. But only the serpent knew his age.

Though when he asked her if she'd like him to walk her home her shoulders shrugged a bit. "Well..... I don't have issues on the way normally...... But if you'd like.... then it doesn't bother me..." In honesty however, the dragon knew that her constant cold was unwanted and uncomfortable. She didn't want the snake man to make himself more uncomfortable than he already was. It's the towards the end of autumn and here Yitah was already clad in winter clothing!

In the silence the dragon's blue-purple shifted down towards her shoes. They were a bit worn, but not to the point she needed new ones. Long, white hair hanging down in chunks. Pointing of to the side she mumbled softly, "If you'd like...... it's that way..." Crystal glanced up at him, rather unsure of what his answer might be.

Sage
"D-date?" Immediately a blush formed on the sorceress' cheeks as she looked at Fallix rather wide eyed, "I-I don't think this is really a date. It's more like, like hanging out. Dates usually require romantic intentions and such. Plus I don't believe I'm your type and all if that were the case." Sage's face now red as she glanced away, embarrassed over the word. Truth be told, the woman never really dated. A curse like hers was hard enough on her, so things like that were easier to keep away. Helped prevent later heart ache and such.

After a moment or so she coughed and the blush was almost completely gone from her cheeks. Looking at Fox when he spoke of his arm caused the mage to pout and raise a dull eyebrow. "Why are you trying to hide it? It's a part of who you are, right? Just because it's not 'the norm' doesn't mean you should stoop to society's level. And if you tell me it's because of work you could always wear long sleeves."

It was confusing to Meadowbrooke as to why this beast would want to hide his metal arm with cheap rug meant for a bathroom floor. Then without much notice she started walking in the direction of the café. "Tell me while we walk!" She called out to him as she slowly put some distance between them.

YITAH

Yitah's body may be as young as it was 300 years ago, but his mind had grown old in that time. While he did not suffer from illnesses that old people can suffer from in their age, for his regeneration and general hardiness prevented such things, he did have a bit of memory missing - to be expected, given his age; most people would forget things from three centuries ago. As a result, he decided at a young age to start keeping journals. Reminders of what Yitah has done since he left the Yuan-Ti ranks, and eventually they turn into footnotes for his biography.

As Yitah heard that Crystal was happy with his presence, Yitah grinned a toothy grin. "Excellent! Shall we be off, then?" While Yitah did not like the cold, he found that is was similar to a human being uncomfortable in heat - like a desert or around lava. As a result, he found that over time he became used to cold and as long as he had warm clothes on it did not particularly bother him. At least, to a dangerous degree. Perhaps an investment in fire enchantments for the winter would be in order, Yitah thought to himself. He certainly had the money and contacts to do it.

As Crystal looked down at her shoes, seeing if she needed new ones, Yitah suddenly remembered the small cuts in his own clothing. Nothing that couldn't be fixed, but his coat was old anyways - besides, technology is not what it used to be. There are probably new coats that are way warmer, Yitah betted to himself. Whilst contemplating his clothing, however, Yitah looked back as Crystal started talking again. "Ah", he says with an almost bardic tone, "So that is where the dragon slumbers." Smiling at his own pun, he started walking towards where the dragon girl had pointed. He stopped, however, as he realized that Crystal seemed to have doubts in her mind. "Well, you need to guide me if I am to escort you." Taking a more serious tone, however, Yitah speaks in a softer tone. "I can almost taste your worry. Do not fear, I am your friend. I'm not going to say one thing to you, then do the opposite - it wouldn't be right."

FOX

Fox grinned as he heard the stammer in Sage's voice. Revenge often tasted sweet, and this was a sugary one. "Well, who knows what my 'type' could be?" Chuckling - nearly to the point of laughter - Fox tapped her gently on the arm in the way two good friends would if they had just shared a laugh together (at least, us Brits do that :P). Still, his subtle prank had its limit and besides - the pair had things to do.

Calming himself, Fox pondered about Sage's question. "Well, I don't really know to be honest. I guess it's to help others relax - after all, are you more likely to trust the guy with two normal arms or the guy who severed pieces from himself and stuck a replacement on there? I guess people tend to see my arm and assume I'm a madman for it, I suppose. I wouldn't normally be bothered, but people don't typically go to someone they suspect to be criminally insane for help on personal matters. Bad for business." Saying that, Fox decides to take the fur off - it was going more bad than good at this point, and it is not like it was expensive. He had found it at the back of a textiles store, after all.

It seemed that the fur only went up to the elbow - or rather, just below it. Rolling his sleeve up his arm in order to peel the vague arm shaped piece of cloth off his metal arm, it was clear to see that his creation went up much further than his elbow. Dumping the tattered cloth into a nearby bin, he rolled his sleeve back down as he picked up his pace to keep with the taller woman.

Then, he sighed almost taking a sad tone in his voice. "In truth, I am not sure whether I could remove the curse - or, at least, remove just the curse. I could drain all magic from you and place an anti-magic field in you, but that would leave you...mundane, I believe you call people like me. Without magic." As he speaks, he looks at his arm and inspects it. It appeared to have warped slightly - either from the heat or the magic - but the main arm still seemed fairly functional. He did not dare try anything else about the arm. "Besides, you speak of it as a curse, but I know plenty of people who would see immortality as a blessing. Why do you want to be rid of it?" In truth, Fox understood perfectly why Sage hated her curse - he just wanted to hear her say it.

Rosaria
With a frown she looked at Pippy with sad eyes, "She is yes, but please don't be scared of us..... Just because we are demons does not mean that we are evil people.. I prefer saving and caring for lives rather than taking them. That is how elves are, and that is what I associate myself as. We aren't monsters, Pippy." Glancing over at Isabelle she listened to what her sister had to say about her parents, their father.

"Yes Isabelle, I know they are bad people. But that does not mean you have to be like them." Looking at the hybrid boy know she sighed softly to herself, "Please do not let my secret get out into the air. My patients might not trust me anymore if they learn of this." Rosaria slipped her hands into her pockets before glancing at Isabelle yet again. "You need to get some rest, you won't get any better if you don't."

The elf's blue eyes soon fell upon Pippy again as she smiled gently, "As for you, you may stay here as long as you'd like. I'll even run out to get food if you'd like." Sweeping her gaze to the door her eyes fell upon the sword and bow, along with quiver, she owned. As part of her elf heritage, swordsmanship played into a part of her life. And a fine swordsman she was, but archery was where she truly shined. "But mind you it's getting late, I would not like it if you were to wander on your own."

Crystal
Hearing Yitah's comment she looked up and nodded to him, a small huff escaping closed lips. Then slowly, she walked over to him before they began walking together. The dragon was silent for a moment, that was until she looked up at the serpent. "I'm not..... use to company...... not yet...." It wasn't that she was worried that he might hurt her, it was that she wasn't use to spending her time with other people. Which would be understandable since she did live in an icy tundra.

"Where I'm from, there was only my parents....... And since I've been here, others seem to not spend too much time with me.... It's because of my cold bubble... Without it, I grow weak to the point of blacking out... There isn't much I can do with that...... My personality, my speech, my tone.... also effect how others feel about me.... So avoidance is what they jump to, it's easier on them...." Crystal's blue-purple orbs moved upwards to look at the Yuan-Ti, the same tired appearance in them.

But inside, she felt a bit better. Having told this snake about how life typically is for her made it feel as if a small weight was lifted off her chest. With her hands now in her pockets, she gave a tiny smile up at Yitah. "We aren't so different..... I guess..." The dragon's smile got a tad bigger after having said that.

Sage
Mauve eyes glanced down at the foxkin as she huffed, "I don't think jokesters that have a tender, sensitive side would suit you." Then with a small smirk she snickered, "But foxes are mischievous creatures by nature." With that she stuck her tongue out him before laughing a bit. It had appeared to the mage that this beast of facts and laws also had his own humor. Sage smiled at the fact.

But as his comment about his arms her gaze sharpened as she turned her head to look at him, the tone that followed seemed to match. "The one's who are normal are typically the most dangerous ones. The mage that cursed me had two normal arms. And it does not matter what physically makes up your body. What really counts is what makes you up as a person. Your arm should not be a factor." Then in silence, she watched Fallix tear the rug off his arm. Making her expression soften, "That's better."

Hearing him speak of how he could remove her curse made stomach twist in knots. The fact of not living with magic was like hearing part of her soul had been sold to Satan. But at his question the pain she kept inside hit her. Head drooping a bit, eyes gazing downwards at the sidewalk below. "What is the point of living forever.... when everything you grow to loves vanishes.... No one to share it with... Those who have not experienced it will never truly feel the pain that comes with it.. Because when it comes down to it, you're always alone."

YITAH

Yitah could understand Crystal fairly well. Back when he was still living in the Yuan-Ti jungle there were hundreds and thousands of soldiers like him - at least, until he got promoted - yet he it wasn't until he 'woke up' when he realized how lonely he was. That was one of the smaller reasons he decided to leave. He yearned for companionship, and make hundreds of friends across the centuries. Still, none that live in the city - so he was still relatively lonely.

Yitah listened closely as Crystal spoke of her parents and her general life. He did feel a little bad for her, being judged for what she needs to do to survive, so as she spoke Yitah placed a hand on her shoulder despite the cold - a sign of good will, in a way. Almost to remind her that she still had a friend in him. As she cheered up, however, Yitah nodded as he took his hand away - it was still cold, after all. "Yes, perhaps not."

Hearing about her past sent him deep into his own. "When I was born, like any Yuan-Ti, I never had parents. We are effectively placed in cages until we are old enough to walk, and from there we are taught how to fight. My childhood was lived with a dagger in hand. When I became older, however...well, I began to realize there was more to life than war and needless suffering. I left and explored the world for a couple of centuries, then finally settle down here a fair few decades ago." Yitah enjoyed reminiscing, as even though there were bad bits his life on a whole was good.

FOX

Fox sighs at her more serious comment. "There are a lot of things that shouldn't be, but they still are." After having placed the felt into the bin, however, he did silently agree with Sage - he wished he wasn't judged for his robotic parts and was more judged for his fleshy bits. His heart, and his mind. Still, most great minds are often undervalued as they say. For all of his talent and mastery of science, he could not work out how to please everyone. Perhaps it was an impossible task, but Fox liked to laugh in the face of impossible tasks.

As Sage replied to his question, however, he simply nodded. "I can imagine. I have teased with the idea of immortality myself, but that is the reason I never put my theories into practical use." However, after hesitating, he grabbed Sage's hand in his normal hand, before looking her in the eye. "I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon. Even if I can't make you mortal, I'll still be your friend."

Then, his awkwardness caught up with him. Coughing slightly, he let Sage's arm drop back to its owner, as he put his own hands deep inside his jacket. His eyes darting for something to distract the pair with, he noticed that the pair was only a few metres from the café that Sage was wanting to go to. "Oh, here we are."

Crystal
With a small huff she nodded her head. For the rest of the time during their walk Crystal was her mundane silence. When they made it to her home the dragon stopped at the bottom of her stair case. The house was a rather basic brick design that must have been around for a hand full of years, but was kept in rather good condition. Glancing from it to Yitah she slide a hand into her pocket before pulling out a key ring.

Climbing up the small flight of stairs to the door she paused, holding one key between her fingers. Inserting it into the lock before turning it open. After hearing the click she dropped her hand to her side and turned to face the Yuan-Ti. With a bow she began to speak, "Thank you... for today, Yitah..... I had, fun." When Crystal stood up straight she had a soft and tiny smile on her face, blue-purple eyes now laying on the serpent.

Sage
"You're a wise man for not doing such thing that would end up making you unhappy." Sage was rather happy to hear that the foxkin hadn't every put his methods to the test, especially not on himself. No one should live with the burden if they didn't ask for it. Vampires have each other sure. But for someone like Meadowbrooke, someone who was a human that lived and died like any other. It was never something she could grow to accept all the time.

At the feeling of something warm, and soft, grasping her hand the mage snapped back into reality. Looking down she noticed that Fallix was holding her hand. His persistent attitude made her smile gently, "That's sweet." When is awkwardness managed to hit him the woman chuckled to herself. At the sight of the café she gazed at the door, "Shall we?" Walking up to the door she opened it, standing to the side to allow Fallix in.

YITAH

At this point, Yitah had grown used to Crystal's unique behaviour. While most may see it as cold and unfeeling, Yitah saw the true nature of it - it wasn't cold and unfeeling it was...well, shy if Yitah had to sum it up. Inexperienced with society. Still, as they walked it appeared to Yitah that Crystal wasn't really wanting to talk - fair enough, he supposed.

As she turned to unlock her door, Yitah looked up at her as she faced him again and thanked him. "Oh, I should be thanking you. It was as much fun for me as it was for you, after all. You've given an old snake new scales, my friend!" With a jovial laugh, he raised his hand to wave goodbye, as he started to head towards his own home. Perhaps he'd call a taxi or something.

FOX

Fox nodded as Sage commented on the results of his theories. If anything, today was an eye opener - perhaps he shouldn't go through with the immortality thing after all. Or, least, without some way to kill him. A failsafe, so to speak. Pondering his theories as he walked alongside Sage, he smiled as Sage smiled at his friendly encouragement.

However, as he was about to walk into the café with Sage, Fox's trained ears pricked up. In the distance, audible even to regular humans - although blatantly obvious to the trained detective mind and animal hearing of Fox - three gunshots in varied succession echoed through the streets. Fox looked onward in confusion, seeing if he could see the source in the confused mass, for a solid ten seconds or so...

???

Soon after the three gunshots, however, the surrounding area almost shook with energy as a loud, although not quite ear-splitting, shriek thundered through the city. As if a bomb had gone off in the centre of the city, a violent shockwave soon followed the shrill cry. Almost seemingly magical - or, rather, mystical as it could not be determined whether it was magic or not - shockwave soon followed that seemed to vigorously shake nearby materials. It caused metal lampposts to vibrate with their own shrill screech, glass windows to bend and contort in disturbing ways and even some stone and concrete seemed to crack under the mystical force of the wave.

Barely audible under the clattering of metal and the shattering of glass a fourth gunshot was heard, and then everything more or less fell silent. Apart from the panicked murmurs of the populace, soon followed by emergency response units and police to investigate the sounds, all had fallen quiet.

YITAH

Feeling a slight tremble in the ground, noticing some of Crystal's windows wobble slightly, Yitah turned back around with a confused look on his face. "An earthquake?", he questioned loudly to Crystal, "This city doesn't suffer earthquakes - I have lived here for about a century and had never felt any, at least." Yitah heard the shrill in the distance, but assumed it was something to do with the earthquake - perhaps the quake had knocked over a building or something. "I hope everyone is alright."

FOX

After covering his ears to protect against the shrill sound, Fox noticed that the glass café door that Sage was previously holding open for him had started shaking intensely. Instantly recognizing what would come next, Fox reacted without thinking. "Get down!" Grabbing Sage by the collar, thrusting her under the protection of his body, the glass door (along with several other windows) shattered and sprayed glass shards over the pair - not that Fox seemed to notice, however. He was using his metal arm as shielding, but something wasn't right.

As the glass settled on the ground, Fox dropped to his knees seemingly in tears. Except, as his tears fell to the ground they were a dark red colour. Screaming in agony as his left arm cuddled his head, for his right arm had started vibrating along with the nearby metallic objects, he fell to the floor in pain and began writhing on the floor. At least, until he fell unconscious still clutching his temple, the look of pain seemingly frozen into his facial muscles. Even with the wave over, his arm was still shaking somewhat and even his clothes appeared to start to pull apart - which was odd, since no-one else's clothing was doing such a thing.

Crystal
"Friend," one could hear in her voice, if they listened carefully, the bits of joy laced in. Her tired looking eyes also appeared to sparkle a bit. Someone actually thought of the dragon as a friend. Crystal never had a friend before, so this was a giant milestone in all the years she's been alive. Next to learning how to transform and fly. If her tail were out at this moment it'd surly be wagging like a happy dog. But her expression vanished within an instant.

The ground under her feet shook a bit and she held onto the cement railing. Though she didn't stay there for long. Within a flash her wings sprouted from her back and she flew to Yitah. Hovering behind him, as if she were trying to protect him. Like she would her treasure. "Are you ok?" Crystal's monotone voice seemed, different. Worried and concerned a bit. The magic from the shock wave was intense.

Shooting her head up the young woman's irises turned into slits as she gazed in the direction of source. "You're a reporter, right?" Something inside the dragon had her speaking in full sentences, but what? "If you want to go there, and get a story for the paper, you are taking me." Crystal flapped her wings and moved so that she was facing Yitah, her appearance was a bit different now. Besides her horns and wings, a few patches of snow white scales appeared on her face and arms. She was scared to let the Yuan-Ti go by himself, even if he was full grown.

Sage
Looking over at Fallix she raised a brow in confusion on why he stopped walking, door still being held open by her. "Fallix? That was when she heard the gun shots, and instinctively grabbed the beast. Sage had no fear of the bullets, for they wound only wound her, but she did worry about Fallix. If anything, she was prepared to use herself as a shield if anymore shots were fired. No matter where they might be coming from. Then that's when she heard the screeching.

Covering her ears she tried to block out the horrid noise to protect her hearing. But as soon as she started pulling them away she was thrown down by the foxkin out of protection. With the glass shattering around them she looked up at Fox worriedly. Frightened for his own well being. When it stopped she to sat up on her knees, but what followed shook Sage to her very core.

Mauve eyes constricted as she watched what appeared to be blood drop from Fallix's eyes like tears. And she watched him seemingly seize there on the ground covered with broken glass. "Fallix!" The mage screamed when he stopped moving, tears flowing from her eyes now. "No, Fallix!" He had protected her, when she didn't even need it. But now, it appeared that it was her turn to save him. Chanting loudly a protective bubble formed around the two, it was there to block out whatever magic was left from the shock wave.

"Bless upon me the strength to carry the world in my arms," she murmured through tears as her arms began to glow. Slipping them under Fox they became cut up and started to bleed, but she pulled him to her body. Rising to her feet the sorceress was able to pick up, and hold, the beast in her arms with no struggle. "Appear before me and bring aid," after uttering those words her staff appeared in front of Meadowbrook before she stood on it. As if it were a surf board.

With narrowed, teary eyes the magic wielder zipped through the city towards the hospital with great speed on her staff. Fallix and herself still enclosed in the protect bubble. Sage didn't have time to try and use her magic to heal the beast, she was in too much of a panic. After a few minutes she jumped off the staff onto the sidewalk, and ran inside the hospital. "If no one helps this man right now I will curse you all!" Meadowbrooke shouted as she stood in the hospital lobby, tears falling from her face onto the beast.

Crystal flapped her wings and moved so that she was facing Yitah, her appearance was a bit different now. Besides her horns and wings, a few patches of snow white scales appeared on her face and arms. She was scared to let the Yuan-Ti go by himself, even if he was full grown.

"Hmm..." Yitah raised an arm to his chin, as he looked at the faint signs of chaos in the streets below. He could see the dust rising from the quake, and the few fires that had broke out from it. "I am the CEO, not the reporter. But, I am curious..." He looked over to her. "If you wouldn't mind?"

Fox is fairly unconscious, so... :P

(sorry it's really short - college. gotta write a report on me making a steam engine.)

Crystal
A shiver went down her spine as she saw and smelt the fires. The heat would do a deal on her, but she didn't want to let Yitah go alone. With a nod she maneuvered behind the Yuan-Ti and wrapped her arms around his torso. The dragon's wings gave a mighty flap of her wings she took to the air. "Don't worry... I'll be gentle," glancing down at the serpent she smiled softly. Taking off towards the inner most part of the city.

Sage
Teary eyed the mage nodded her head and followed the man towards the room he was preparing for Fallix. Once there she sniveled as she set the beast on the hospital bed. Her own blood still running from her cuts, but her arms had stopped glowing. Sage stood there rubbing her stained eyes with the palms of her hands, since they weren't cut up by glass and didn't have any chips in them. "You do whatever it takes to help him," Sage hiccupped, "He's not all soft and squishy. Some parts of him are metal, robotic. But just help him, please."

"Robotic you say? Well, that's going to make things a lot more complicated then. Not sure how this will go over. A hospital is meant for normal people and creatures, not cyborgs." Raz sighed as he put a hand against his forehead before sweeping it through his hair. Grumbling quietly to himself as he thought about just how in hell this 'creature' would be healed. Maybe it was a lost cause.
However, when he glanced over at Sage he felt a wave of guilt. Here was this kind, and rather attractive, woman weeping and begging for help so that her savior could continue ticking. "Alright, alright. I'll make a few calls and see what I can do for him. As for you, I'll handle your cut and such myself." With that, Raz stepped out of the room. Giving the sorceress and foxkin some privacy as he made a phone call to a tech guy he knew in the city.
Stepping back into the room, the man slipped his phone into his pocket. "I've got a tech guy coming in that will be working with a surgeon to help your friend there. In the meantime, you need to worry about taking care of yourself." Gesturing towards Sage's arms, which were still bleeding and staining her skin and clothes.

"I'm. Not. Going. Anywhere." Sage slightly hissed when Raz came back into the room. More than aware of her own situation at the moment, but she was more concerned about the fox. Raising an opened hand she closed it and yanked her arm back towards her body. Thus making the chair from the other side of the room glide across the floor towards her. Then the sorceress sat down, gazing at her arms.

Exhaling deeply, the mauve eyes of the woman glowed. Soon the glass shards pulled themselves out of her arms and levitated towards a biohazard bin. Which they then dropped into. Once the glass was out and trashed the woman snapped her fingers, causing gauze pads and bandage wrap to appear before her. Bandaging her own wounds as she sat and waited, even changed the wrap color to a blue-green shade that stood in stark contrast to her hair. But yet, complimented it.

Soon enough though the man that Raz had spoken to on the phone earlier had appeared in the hospital room. Forcing Sage out of the room so that he could with one of the doctors as an assistant.

Hours had passed before the men walked out of the room. The one who had worked on Fallix reassured the magic wielder that the beast was going to be just fine. Going into depth about the chip in the creature's brain and just how much of him was metallic. Once he did stop talking, however, Sage slipped back into the room.

Looking down at the unconscious foxkin she smiled a bit. It appeared that they had glued the skin that was torn back to the metal. Fallix even had some wrapping around his head from where they dug into his head to fix the major problem. "Thank goodness," she mumbled softly. Moving the chair to the side of the bed she sat down, a hand over his. Fox was going to get a major earful when he finally wakes up. Sage could promise that.

YITAH

Shuddering slightly as Crystal's cold arms grabbed his toned torso, Yitah nodded as she spoke. Frankly, he wasn't worried - this wasn't his first time flying, and it certainly wasn't going to be his last. Still, as they neared the epicentre of whatever blast that was, he felt nervous. Not from the flight itself, but worry for...well, everyone. Everyone near the blast, everyone in the future...whatever this was, Yitah doubted it was the last anyone would hear of it.

That thought was definitely reinforced as the pair flew to the alleyway it had all originated from. Police had already sanctioned off the area, but after a quick flash from Yitah's badge the pair were reluctantly let through - at least, enough to see what was going on.

Yitah was taken aback from what he saw. The pair weren't allowed anywhere near the actual scene - just enough to see the massacre before them. In a small alley off of the main road, it was a bloodbath. What appeared to be a group of known street thugs, one with a gun, had been massacred - not by beast, or by person, but seemingly the street itself. Brick spikes pulled from a nearby wall had skewered one of the poor men, while another had been strangled and crushed by a drain pipe. Several other scenes like this were under investigation, but one stood out from all of the rest. What appeared to be the leader of the group lay untouched on the kerb, blood pooling from a clear gunshot wound to the head, with a gun resting in his hand.

As if the officer who was escorting them could read the confusion on Yitah's face, he spoke up. "Aye, it's an odd one. According to forensics, the leader there had shot himself. With an enchanted gun, no less. Where the lad even got such a thing is beyond us, but I guess that's the purpose of forensics. He also seemed to be firing at something down the street - you can see where the bullets had missed down there - and then apparently shot himself. We don't know about the others - the police mages can't pick up any magical activity."

As the officer spoke, Yitah looked to where he had pointed. True enough, there were three bullet holes in one of the walls under investigation. Yitah went silent, as he thought to himself. He presumed telekinesis, of course, but to this level? Besides, the officer had said magic wasn't involved...but what else could it have been?

FOX

Not long after Sage entered the room, a doctor followed with a few pieces of equipment in hand. Nodding gently at Sage as he got to work monitoring Fox, he sighed heavily - seemingly out of relief. He looked over to the EKG machine (electrocardiogram machine - the one that monitors heart activity) and tapped it on the screen gently, with a confused look on his face, as he walked over to Sage. Looking over to the door, he gently ushered her to the corner with his back turned just so he could speak to Sage in peace.

Speaking in a hushed, whispering tone the doctor placed his tools away into his pocket. "You seem to be good with magic. Did you happen to have cast a revival spell on him or something? You see, for a few minutes our machines registered him as dead. He seems fine now, but it confuses me." As he speaks, he looks back and satisfied that nothing was wrong, the non-magical doctor walked back over to Fox's bed and began writing notes.

Unbeknownst to him, however, a humongous magic presence popped into the room - seemingly out of nowhere. Invisible to the human eye, a golden woman with multiple fox tails, like Fox's own tail, leans over to him and strokes his cheek. With a start, Fox starts coughing and pulls himself upright, much to the doctor's surprise. As this happens, the woman fades away as quickly as she came, with a magical blast of energy only detectable to Sage (since the only way she could see her is by her magical presence - she seems to be casting a form of Invisibility on herself) that is surprisingly similar to Fox's own untapped magic aura.

The doctor quickly checks over him, and after a few minutes nods at Sage as he leaves to attend to other patients.

Crystal
When the dragon landed the Yuan-Ti near the main scene she let her feet touch the ground as well. Wings and horns retracting to their dwellings within the woman. Gazing upon what little they were allowed to view, shook the ancient being to her core. So much blood, so much chaos. It was frightening. Even though Crystal was a dragon, the being that inflicted fear into the very hearts of humans and creatures alike. It was shocking to see such a powerful beast so fearful.

Her blue-purple orbs landed on the gun that was left as evidence of the crime. Weapons such as that one weren't something the dragon typically obtained, nor sold. This was a object she was not really acquainted with. But yet, might have seen one at sometimes in her life. Just never took much taking to it.

Following where Yitah would look Crystal saw the bullet holes in the wall. Though, she still couldn't grasp the concept that magic wasn't somehow involved. Would a human with supernatural powers have done this and not be detected?

Crystal's protective cold blanket was slowly fading as she grasped the back of Yitah's coat. What could have possibly caused this? What was the motive? Was there even a motive involved? Who was this mystery person? If they're still out there, who would be next? The unknown was truly the most fearful thing in this world.

"Yitah," her voice sounded different. Still monotone, but rather high pitched. And her normal cold barrier was lowered now to a tiny cold spot. Looking up at him the dragon had tears forming in her eyes. This was pry the first real emotion Crystal let slip to her face. Fear.

Sage
As Sage was pulled aside to a corner she gazed at the doctor and listened to his comment and questioning. "A revival spell was not used to bring him back. Instead, a small fix to a chip in his head was pry what saved him." When the doctor walked back to Fallix's bed side, the mage paused before walking over herself. But as she took that first step there was an immense wave of magic that entered and flooded the room. Making the sorceress go wide-eyed for a moment. She couldn't see who it was, but she could feel the magic that they held.

But just as quickly as it came, it was gone. And Fallix had woken from his unconscious state. After the doctor left the woman walked over to the foxkin's beside. "You stupid imbecile! How dare you save someone who didn't need saving and then go off and die!"

When she got closer you could see the tears forming again in her already reddened eyes. "Don't you know how scared I was that you might not have made it! I wouldn't have been able to live with myself it that were to of happened!" Her hands slammed onto the small portion of the bed that he wasn't laying on. "I was so worried about you...... You shouldn't have done what you did... I should of been the one protecting you."

Slumping down into the chair by his bedside Sage hide her face in her bandaged arms as she once again wept. This was why she didn't want to grow attached to anyone. The emotional pain and trauma of a scenario like this was overwhelming. And she did not want to go through it multiple times. "You're so stupid...."

YITAH

Yitah had already taken out his journal and started writing down notes onto it. As he starts however, he notices a familiar van pull up nearby. Smiling, he waves at one of the men who came out of the van and nods towards the crime scene. In a short while, his reporter lackeys were already getting themselves ready for a long night of interviews, sketches and general journalism. Not that the police were happy, of course, but with everything that was going on the police knew that the people needed to be aware of whatever this was.

No longer being needed at the crime scene, Yitah slipped his own journal back into his coat pocket. He was getting ready to leave the scene of horror when he felt a sharp tug on his back. Yitah immediately knew who it was - the cold was a dead giveaway, but something wasn't right...she wasn't as cold as usual. Perhaps a normal person may not have noticed it as quickly, but Yitah did. Yitah's face twisted with confusion as he turned around gently, wondering what the problem was.

That was until he saw Crystal's face. Yitah had seen that face countless times before - most of the time he was the cause of it. Until he settled down and people became used to the idea of a snake man wandering around, that is. Still, it was almost a surprise to see such a thing in Crystal's face - although, this wasn't exactly a calm area. It was probably more surprising that Yitah didn't seem just as scared of whatever could've accomplished such a thing.

Deciding that a crowd wasn't the best place for her, he gently led her by the hand to a nearby wall hidden behind all of the police vehicles that had turned up, the faint sound of radio chatter in the wind. Looking her dead in the eyes, both of his hands on her shoulders, he spoke softly. "It's alright now - whatever did that to those street thugs is gone now." As he speaks, a warm smile grew across him as an attempt to comfort her. "Besides, you're my friend. They'll have to kill me before they'll even manage to touch you."

FOX

Fox was still coming around, yawning as he did in that almost cute way foxes yawned, as he was suddenly hit by a bombardment of Sage's harsh words. Like a child who was caught stealing out of the biscuit tin, Fox looked down at his fingers as he was scolded by Sage.

Still, he sort of felt bad as Sage started to cry. Even though he was the one in serious medical trouble, he couldn't help but feel awful at it. It wasn't going to make him think twice about throwing himself in danger, though. It was his job. "Sorry, I guess." As he rubbed his eyes with his left hand, he continued in complete transparency - he couldn't even be bothered to think up a lie to justify himself. "It's just that I didn't want you hurt. It's my job to make sure people don't get hurt, after all, one way or another."

He simply smiled as Sage insulted his intellect - he was sure she didn't mean it, after all. Grabbing her arm gently, he started to pull at it to be able to look her in the face. "I didn't want to see you hurt. You've gone through enough already, so I can take a bullet or two for you." Smiling, he looked down at a chair on the opposite side of the room, where his arm was laying. He was definitely not going to put that back on - who knows what that vibration did to it. It was already on the blink as it was with that fiasco at the pond.

"Say, you don't happen to know any teleportation spells? I need another arm, you see..." Fox said, as he started to get up. He still wasn't 100%, but those doctors did their job well - at least, that's what he thought. He didn't know about the magical presence after all.

Crystal
The dragon followed Yitah when he grabbed her hand and lead her away to a less crowded area. Once at the wall she had her back against it. Her hands rubbing her eyes, they felt warmer than normal. At the feeling of hands on her shoulders, Crystal looked up to see the Yuan-Ti. When he spoke her head shook a bit. "Th-that's the thing though.... It's still out there..... And no one knows where.."

Soon enough though, the young woman started to feel light headed. And was unusually warm for her normal state. Slowly, Crystal's back slide against the wall. Only stopping when her rear hit the pavement. As if someone had turned a million heat lamp the dragon was sweating profusely.

"Yi....tah...." Crystal looked up at him weakly from the ground. What had happened was that the dragon's fear had overridden her mind and caused her to cripple a bit. Thus causing her to forget about keeping herself protected from the warm environment. This seemingly 'new world' held more dangers that her artic homeland. But it was her choice to move here. She'd just have to learn how to cope with things like this.

Sage
Feeling a pull of her arm she looked up to see Fallix smiling at her. Sniveling Sage glanced away, half her face still hiding behind the arm that was not being pulled. "Yeah, but when you can't die there shouldn't be a concern for safety of yourself. Only for those who aren't," the way she spoke was rather sarcastic and childish. But she felt that it should've been the other way around, with her in the hospital bed. Not the foxkin.

Though hearing him ask about the teleportation spell and feeling movement, mauve eyes moved to look at the injured beast. Eyes widening as he tried to get up. With quick thinking the mage waved her hand to the side, causing straps on the sides of the bed to come up and interlock. Strapping Fallix down to the bed so he couldn't move or get up.

"Oh no you don't! You are not leaving here until I get discharge papers from a doctor. Until then you are staying put where I can keep an eye on you and know that you'll be ok." Sage was dead set on not letting Fox leave, even if he needed a new robotic arm. Looking at him her gazed started to soften a bit. "Whether you believe me or not, there was a strong magical presence here. I could sense it was female. But it seemed that she might have been part of the reason why you're still here. Besides me bringing you here of course.." Glancing down at her bandaged arms as they rested on the side of his bed.

At the feeling of the shock Rosaria hit the floor. Her home was located near the blast, probably a handful of blocks away from it in fact. When her windows started shattering she wrapped her wings protectively around her body, arms covering her head. After it was all over the halfling slowly uncurled herself. Broken glass scattered along the floor. Though she questioned just what in hell had happened outside.

Hearing Isabelle thud against the floor she slowly sat up, eyes widened in horror at the sight. "Isabelle!" Getting up the doctor rushed over to her younger sister who was bleeding profusely. A large chunk of glass appeared to of lacerated and embedded itself into the girl's leg. And if the elf didn't do something quickly, her younger sister would bleed out.

"Don't worry! Everything is going to be ok!" Dropping to her knees she carefully grasped the piece of glass that stuck out and slowly pulled it out of her leg. Once it was out she gripped the girl's leg where the wound was. Then soon green light and healing waves flooded the girl. It took about 5 minutes before the wound was completely healed. "There," she panted.

YITAH

She was right. It was still out there. No-one knew what it was, where it was, whether it was malignant or not or if it was going to strike again. The people it had murdered were street thugs - perhaps they were intended targets, or perhaps it was chance. Perhaps whoever was next could be a librarian, a police officer, a mob boss, a banker...perhaps no-one at all. No-one knew for sure, at it was that Yitah feared the most. The chance that it could strike someone innocent or perhaps someone close to him. Perhaps he himself was next. But, Yitah thought to himself, he knew that it was no good thinking like that.

As he saw the dragon fall to the ground, however, Yitah began to worry. He fell to one knee and sighed deeply. "Crystal, it's going to be alright. Just...just cool yourself down." Yitah didn't want to take the risk, however. Crystal may hate him afterwards, but Yitah did not mind. Calmly, he placed one hand to the side of her head as his eyes grew a strong purple once again - like in the forest.

"Crystal", he said with a strangely powerful tone - as if Crystal couldn't refuse to listen, "I suggest that you cool yourself down." Yitah didn't want to cast the Suggest spell on her, but he knew that Yitah would not be able to help otherwise. He did not know any other spells except mind spells, and his venom was barely going to help here. All he could think about was getting rid of the fear stopping Crystal from using her abilities to help herself, and this was one of the quickest ways of doing it.

(Suggestion, if you don't know, is a dumbed down version of mind control - basically, the user 'suggests' a reasonable course of action and if the target does not resist or fails the saving throw, they will do it)

FOX

Fox was about to stand up, when he felt a sharp tug at his arm. Confused, he looked down to see a leather belt strap wrap around it - before feeling two more on his ankles. Fox put up a surprising effort - it was clear he was not only mentally fit, but physically so too. Still, without his mechanical arm to aid him, there was little he could do except delay the inevitable. As he was pulled back onto the bed, he grumbled under his breath. "I was only going to grab my arm. I wasn't going to leave, you know."

He was still struggling at his straps, in a somewhat futile attempt of freedom, as Sage continued to talk. Something she said, however, stopped him in his tracks. "A woman? Huh. Maybe I have a secret admirer or something. What did she look like? Did she have any recognizable features? Maybe one of the women I helped before decided to return the favour..." It was odd, to say the least. Perhaps he had a guardian angel or something? Perhaps it is a form of his own magic? After all, he does have a strong magical potential, as mages often tell him. He has never learned a spell before, but perhaps it was something that you didn't need to learn?

After a moment of thought, he sighed. "How long will it take to get a discharge? I don't want to spend all night strapped to this bed, after all." Usually, he'd probably make a lewd joke or something about being tied to a bed, but frankly he had just grazed death and he was getting hungry.
