Fantasy The City of Myths

It was a nice day, and Fallix had just entered his house with his shopping. It had been a long trek, but frankly he had little else to do so he didn't bother rushing. As he dumps his shopping bags, as well as the few books he had been carrying from the library, onto his kitchen worktable he sighed as he started putting the foodstuffs away into their respective place. Each item had a special place in his kitchen, and he always made sure he never got so much shopping that it would fill the fridge anyways, so putting it all away wasn't really much of a hassle. Still, he was bored. There wasn't many enquires coming in lately, ever since he sold some tips and a few pieces of equipment to the police, so he was starting to feel empty inside. He lived for problems to solve, but there weren't many problems coming into his thoughts.

"You know what?" Fallix, who was often called Fox for his animal appearance, "I fancy some soft ice cream."

With that, he headed to a nearby park that he enjoyed and went to one of the ice cream vendors. After a friendly chat with the ice cream man, whom Fox helped a while back in making his ice cream machine more efficient and eventually became decent enough friends, he walked to a nearby bench, overlooking a pond, and started eating his ice cream. Mint was his favourite flavour, and that also applied to ice cream. Although he didn't like mint chocolate chip ice cream, as he didn't like the texture that the chips brought to the overall experience, he loved plain mint soft ice cream, and it was virtually the only flavour he ever got for himself.

It surprised most people, as they assumed he preferred living alone surrounded by machines, but Fox loved nature. While he saw animals as dumb beasts roaming the world for scraps, he couldn't help but respect nature. A perfect example of how science dictates how everything works. One different variable in the equation of life, and you have a duck instead of a tree. Truly, nature was the first scientist, mixing and matching different elements to create life, to create the land and seas, and occasionally having a bit of help from other sources. To Fox, nature was often an inspiration to him. However, there were some things he saw wrong in nature, but he was fine with that. It gave people like himself something to do, after all. Something to improve. After all, improving things is the main reason engineering exists. To solve problems that nature cannot do by itself.

Mortimer Voltaire
"The kindest? Only for you." Mortimer replied, keeping a hand lightly upon the middle of her back, in case she might've tripped or fallen. Watching carefully as Isabelle opened the door, her cheeks wettened with what he supposed were tears. Not wanting to intrude upon privacy as a stranger, he then coughed and smiled. "Mr Voltaire. But please, call me Mortimer." The vampire inclined his head politely. "Mr Vampire Guy also works though, I shan't be offended." He joked - or attempted to considering the younger woman's current mood.

Stepping through into the house, he closed the door behind them both and faced Rosaria in the entrance way. With Isabella sitting in front of the television, distracted, Mortimer caught the halflings jaw bringing her face to his. Absentmindedly stroking her cheek before he leant in, meeting her lips in a long, soft kiss. "You should go lie down. I know I sound like a record on repeat, but ... I worry about you. Then maybe, you could get that bath, both our blood off of you. I know I might need a wash soon enough. Never know, could make it romantic. You, me, candles - tiny tub." He laughed and again kissed her brow. "Talk to Miss Isabelle if you can. She seems to need you more than I right now. From the looks of her, I doubt she's been having the best day."

When the door opened she saw Isabelle and smiled softly at her. Though, something was amiss. The younger girl's cheeks were stained with tears from earlier, and her reddened eyes only helped to prove the fact. But before she could say anything Isabelle had gone and sat down in front of the television. With a rather sad expression she walked into her home with Mortimer. She wondered what was wrong with the poor girl.

However that thought was soon interrupted when Rosaria felt her jaw grabbed gently and tilted back. Mortimer was standing in front of her, bringing their faces together. His fingers brushing against her cheek before feeling cold lips on her own. When the kiss was broken the elf listened to the man, and started to blush. "That sounds nice." She mumbled softly before the vampire suggested talking to her housemate.

Rosaria nodded before moving away from him. But not towards the couch like he had wanted. Instead, she made her way over to Isabelle. Carefully dropping on her knees next to the girl and pulling her into a warm hug. Pain shot through the halfling, but she only grunted and continued the comforting embrace. "I'm sorry Isabelle that I have to leave you on your own during the day. And I promise that I'm not going to hurt you. Cross my heart." For some reason, her mind drifted towards Hassan. The memory of him promising to help her with Isabelle during the time she wasn't around frustrated her. "That damn Hassan! Just because he screwed up didn't mean he should have run away. He promised to teach you while I work, but now I'm not so sure anymore. I swear when I see him I'm-"

The young woman's ranting was cut off when a larger pain wave went through her body. Causing her hiss and groan in pain as she let go of Isabelle. Getting worked up like that wasn't improving her health any. Slowly, and a bit shakily, she rose to her feet and walked over to her sofa. Thankfully it was close by as she plopped down on it. Laying there as she let out another groan, "Forgive me. I shouldn't get so upset over that when it'll only make things worse."

Once again, Crystal moved her hand towards Yitah's head but this time in a more calm, subtle manner. Feeling her cold touch on his scales he shivered slightly, his scales shaking somewhat, and a befuddled look crossed Yitah's face and a myriad of questions entered his mind, but he decided not to say anything and just follow her lead. Moving alongside her, he noticed she was searching the area, presumably for treasure if his knowledge of her was still holding up. He too started looking around, but seemed more focused on the climb.

As Yitah started walking towards the mountain, he soon realized that it was starting to get steeper. The pair were getting to the bottom of the mountain, by the looks of it, and as a result it was starting to become a thick forest. While most creatures would struggle in such a place, however, Yitah flourished. He seemed to have no issue climbing up the banks of the forest, and almost seemed to run up the sides of the vertical parts, using nothing but the odd branch or tree root as a foothold. Even when a branch snapped or a tree root sagged too much to stand on, Yitah appeared to almost see it coming as he quickly shifts to another suitable place to climb with. Even with his bulky, thick clothes he made it up the forest with little issue. He sometimes looked back at Crystal, often forgetting that she could fly, and sometimes instinctively letting down a hand to help her before pulling it back quickly - mainly in case she took it instead of flying. She had a cold touch, after all.

No, it wasn't the terrain or the climb itself that was the problem but the cold was. It was starting to get chilly as they climbed up the mountainside - not enough to be considered freezing, even for the cold-blooded snakeman, but it was clear he was starting to notice it. As the pair started to pass from the forested section of the mountain to the more rocky section, trees starting to get rarer and rarer and the lush, verdant ground was becoming replaced with stone and the more durable like heather, Yitah started to shiver as the cold winds passed through him. Still, he was smiling and seemed to enjoy the hike, and appeared to be tolerating the cold after a while. After pulling up the hood of his thick coat he looked to Crystal, and spoke again in his strange guttural way. "You know how before you stoked my head? May I ask why? I have no issue with it...it just seemed odd, is all."

Charcoal_Lilly50 Charcoal_Lilly50
After some time during their hike, she heard Yitah break the silence that had overcome. Given it took them until they made it to the rocky part of the mountain before either of them spoke. But Crystal listened, though she tilted her head a bit in confusion. Face going back to its lethargic, emotionless state. "Odd?" The word hung in the air with the way she repeated it. Then she hung her head a bit, it was odd? "Trying.... to be... friendly....." Social interaction was not this dragon's strong suit, far from it actually. As a young dragon and even to this day Crystal enjoyed when her parents use to pet and pat her head. She just always associated such actions as a friendly, common thing.

Soon enough however, the woman picked her head up. Scanning the new area they were in with her cool hue orbs. Even sniffing the air for any traces of precious metals. When she thought nothing was going to turn up a flash caught her eye. Turning her head in the direction she managed to see it again. Light bouncing off of something. Something rather far. Something shiny. "Treasure!" Crystal mumbled a bit louder than normal as she watched the constant reflection of light coming off of the mystery object further up the mountain.

"Yitah..... let's.." Reaching down she tugged the serpent's coat sleeve with one hand while pointing with the other. Then without further reply, the dragon was making her way up towards the shining thing. Wings making loud flapping sounds against the wind. When she made it there she landed on the rocky terrain and looked around for the object. Seeing it a few feet from her she walked over and crouched down. Pulling small rocks and such away with her bare hands. Once it was uncovered she snatched it up and sat there. Examining the trinket.

It appeared to be an antique pocket watch that was made of gold. Flipping it around she managed find the button that allowed it to open. The hands of the clock weren't moving. The gears and such must be either frozen, broken, or have rusted over. But it wasn't anything that couldn't be fixed. Crystal looked up from it in order to show Yitah but, he wasn't nearby. "Yitah?" She had forgotten that she had moved ahead of him after having seen the little shine. So she sat, waiting. Wondering how such a thing managed to get up this high on the mountain.

Sage had been in that very park since rather late in the morning working on one of her art pieces. Painting a scene of the open space on a canvass with light and delicate brush strokes. Being alive for two centuries gave her a lot of time to work on different skills besides working on spells. Which having mastered years ago gave her the time to learn something new. And painting seemed to come rather naturally to her. But sadly, the sorceress was growing rather bored and yearned for a break. Then her that's when her mauve colored eyes caught sight of something. A walking, talking, fox? Then it occurred to her, he must be a kitsune of some sort. Prefect!

With a mischievous grin she raised her hand to the side of her. And out of thin air her staff appeared beside her. Snatching it out of the air the woman of a young appearance began to think of a prank. Something that might startle the creature or at least get him to start to question things. Then it hit her! "Brilliant!" Sage whispered excitedly to herself as she held her staff out horizontally and sat on it as it hovered in the air. With the snap of her fingers she vanished from sight, invisible to the naked eye. Quietly the sorceress floated over behind the bench where Fallix sat with his ice cream. And began the trick.

Sage reached her hands around Fox as they became visible and covered his eyes. Still invisible, minus her hands, and floating on her staff she leaned in towards his ear. "Guess who." She whispered in a rather seductive voice before blowing gently against the same ear. Then her hands quickly vanished again as she pulled them away from his fuzzy face. Meadowbrooke zipped above his head before he could turn around to see nothing. When Fox did turn though the unseen sorceress was now floating out in front of him. Landing on the ground she flicked her finger, making the ice cream slip from his grasp and levitate above his head.

Leaning in towards where his face was soon to be facing the pond again, she slowly became visible again. "Boo." Sage smiled once she was up face to face with Fox. With her opposite hand she brushed some of her long, pale pink locks behind her ear. "My you are rather foxy." The mage joked and teased with a chuckle as she blinked her light purple orbs. Standing up straight she slowly brought her finger down, which gently caused the kitsune's ice cream to come back down so he could grab it. "Here you go. No hard feelings?"

YITAH

The snakeman apologetically nods, as he makes his reply. "Friendly? Oh, OK. Sorry, I'm just not used to things like that. Yuan-Ti don't exactly make caring parents, you see." That was clear to be true. While Yitah was friendly and great with people, he never really understood how to take care of a child - as far as he knew, you had to lock them up until they were able to walk, then give them a spear and teach them to fight. Of course, he had seen other parents in the street take care of their child, but without first-hand experience there was little he could do. That, and most children found his appearance somewhat scary. He was a giant snake, after all.

As they approached closer to the peak of the mountain, Crystal suddenly exclaimed and took off by herself. Not to his surprise, however, as Yitah too saw the object. He was trained to spot glints on arrows in the jungle treeline, after all, so this was childsplay to him. He moved like a silent wind up the mountain, clearly showing some martial artist/monk capabilities, as he jumps and flips from rock to rock. He also appears to be stronger than most humans, as he doesn't seem fazed by having to hang by one hand, sometimes just a few fingers, while to calculates where to jump to next. Soon enough, he managed to catch up with Crystal.

With a few deep gulps of air, to regain his breath, Yitah climbs up to the ledge that Crystal had flown to. "Yes?" He says, finally, clearly hearing her call his name. "My, what an odd find. Why would a mountain need a watch? You don't think that whoever dropped it could still be around...you know, one way or the other?"

After saying that, he started looking around whilst tasting the air with his forked tongue. Perhaps whoever left the watch was rotting nearby, or maybe they were even still alive.

FOX

Meanwhile, down in one of the city's parks far away from the mountain, Fox seemed pretty happy. He didn't seem stressed, which was fairly unusual for him - especially when he had nothing to do - and just let out a nice, deep sigh of content. This was nice. Away from the smoke and troubles in the city, away from the clatter and chatter of daily life, and instead just sitting down, enjoying a nice treat, while watching leaves fall onto the surface of the pond.

That, however, was soon interrupted. Seemingly out of nowhere, Fox heard a voice behind him. However, as the voice said 'guess who', he did not seem to recognize the voice...which infuriated him. He should know everything - if this person knows him, he should know them - right? He did not even seem to notice his ears twitching in reaction to the blowing on it, he was that confused and frustrated. However, that changed as he started to notice a tug on his left hand (his mechanical arm being the right) as his ice cream started floating in the air. That made his brain click - this was clearly the work of magic. Invisibility and telekinesis, from the looks of it.

Looking around, however, he nearly jumped out of his partially artificial (but still fairly realistic looking) skin. Appearing in front of him was a young looking woman, though it wasn't unheard of for witches to make themselves look younger, with a questionable taste in hair colour. After the initial shock of the jumpscare faded, however, he just starts grinning. Grabbing his ice cream back from the air, he just chuckles as the woman speaks to her. "Well, you humans do call me 'Fox' for a reason. No hard feelings." He says, as he extends his right arm for a handshake. "Name's Fallix. Nice to meet you, mage."

Crystal
When she saw the familiar scales of the snake man she held up the watch a bit for him to see. Nodding in agreement that it was rather interesting. Yet, odd. Why would such a thing be left up here? They could be dead, or hurt, or simply lurking around the peak. Though a part of her did not want to find out if they were. Just for the fact that they might not be of good intentions. Pulling the watch back towards her, Crystal started examining it further. As she did, a tiny smile formed on her face.

The trinket was icy cold to the touch, and seemed to not have any engravings in the front or back. Meaning there wasn't much of a way for the dragon to tell who might have owned it before this point. But that wasn't a real problem for Crystal. Without an engraving it meant that she'd have a better chance of selling it in her shop. Managing to get the back off the watch she looked at the gears inside of it. They appeared to be a bit frozen and rusted a tad. Again, nothing to be too concerned about. All things that can, and will, be fixed. Once she was back in the city that was.

But a thought occurred to her. "Yitah." Turning her gaze away from the pocket watch she was now looking up at the Yuan-Ti, that tiny smile still there. Holding the gold trinket in her open hands she nudged it a bit. "Once it's fixed, I want you to keep it." That was the first whole sentence she's said since she was about a teenager. This was a very rare thing for anyone, even Crystal herself. For she wasn't much of a talker.

Sage
"Sage, though to some I'm also known by my last name. Which is Meadowbrooke." Extending her own right arm and grasping his hand with hers. Shaking it gently before letting go, slipping her hand and arm back to her side. The sorceress' staff vanished as quickly as it had appeared. "Mind if I join you?" Then without waiting for an answer she swept her had to the side, causing the bench to extend itself a bit. Just enough to give her space to sit. And Sage did in fact sit down beside the creature.

Stretching her arms above her head the woman gave a big grin, "Oh that feels great!" When the stretching ceased her arms rested on the back of the bench, which included behind Fox. Glancing at him from the corner her eye she smiled. "So tell me Fallix, what's a fluffy thing like you doing out here by yourself? Trying to find a bunny rabbit to snag," rabbit ears popping out from nowhere on the side of her head before twitching and vanishing, "Or just want to spend some quality time with yourself? I know that working on yourself is good for yourself."

Turning her mauve eyes away from the beast she looked towards the pond that they sat in front of. Raising an open hand at the small pond of water she smiled. "Fontalis." Then suddenly, the water began to bubble in the middle. Before you knew it the pond was now spouting its own fountain. Rather pretty and mysterious as to how the magic managed to keep such a thing going. Sage set her hand back down and watched her powers at work.

He shook his head, removing his hat yet keeping the scarf tight around his neck. "Please, Rosaria. The Djinn have been unpredictable for centuries, masters of their own free will. A liberty they take seriously." Mortimer smiled somewhat. "I do have some spare time during the day - I could even pay for Isabelle's tutoring if it helps." The vampire offered, opening one of his hands in a proposal. Yet worry was most prominent on his brow - the same which creased and folded as she lay down after her pains. "But you're home now. And I shan't steal you away from Miss Isabelle often."

Voltaire looked between the girls, approaching to tuck his hand in with Rosas. "Now, for one, you shouldn't be exerting so much energy. You know you need time to recover and Isabelle here needs you fit and healthy." He turned his gaze upon the younger girl, letting out a sigh. "Why don't we make some tea? And give Rosaria those biscuits you made. Or cookies. Whatever this country decides is the more popular description of baked goods." He let out a light, relaxed laugh - thumbs tucking into his belt loops whilst gently rocking back on his heels.

"Mortimer that's really sweet of you to do that, but you don't have to do that." Though when the vampire approached her she couldn't help but to let out a small huff through her smile. At the mention of Isabelle's treats she gave a polite smile, "I would love to try some. I bet they're delicious." Once the girl left the room and came back out with the tray she reached her hand out and snagged one from off the coffee table located in front of the couch. Taking a bite out of it she smiled rather happily. "I was right, they are good."

But when Isabelle spoke those blue orbs found their way to the girl again. Rosaria noticed the picture in the demon's hand, though she couldn't really see it well from the angle she was at. Then a memory from earlier managed to find its way to her conscious mind. "Isabelle," the elf turned her head so that it was facing the girl, "I recall that earlier you mentioned that you might have found out who exactly your sister is. Is that why you have that picture? I'm curious as to see what this girl possibly looks like. May I?" Extending her hand the halfling waited in expectation for the photograph to be placed in it.

YITAH

Yitah looked around, tasting the air as he went, as Crystal started examining the artefact. However, search as he might, he couldn't find anyone else up the mountain with them. Perhaps they simply dropped it while traversing the mountain, similar to what the pair were doing now, or perhaps animals had shifted the body - or even possibly moved the watch. Crows, Yitah knew, had a liking for shiny things, so perhaps a crow had carried it from somewhere. Since his tongue wasn't producing any results, although the bitter wind could be the cause for that, Yitah thought it safe to say that the pair were alone up the mountain.

With that, he decided to return to Crystal - he had only moved a dozen or so metres away, but he didn't fancy getting lost somehow when he was up this high. Even for a dragon, a mountain could be dangerous. As he returned, to his relief, Crystal still seemed to be examining the watch. By the looks of it, she was examining the condition of the mechanical components lying within. Personally, Yitah couldn't imagine it would be easy, or cheap, to repair such an old watch - but hey, if Crystal wants to repair it, he was more than happy to lend her some money. After all, he was the CEO of a major newspaper company - he had money to spare.

What surprised him, however, was what she did next. Seemingly out of nowhere, she held out the watch to him stating that she wanted him to keep it once repairs were complete. Not only that, but she used more than two words to project this. Yitah felt something warm spread in his heart, as he smiles back at her. "You don't have to do that for little old me - this is your treasure, after all." Yitah was known for being humble and somewhat passive, but he still appreciated a kind thought when it crossed his path. "Not that I don't appreciate your thought, though. But, why? Why do this for me?" Yitah seemed almost confused - he had a fair feeling why, but at the same time he couldn't understand why a dragon would do it for him. Not that he would've minded if she didn't offer the watch unto him, of course, it was just an unexpectedly pleasant surprise.

FOX

As Sage reaches down to shake his hand, Fox is also quite gentle in his handshake. Despite the gentleness he uses, however, it is clear of his strength - at least, in his right arm - yet there is something...else. While most people, even the bulkiest of people, have a fleshy bounce to their hands, allowing a bit of give during things like handshakes, Fox doesn't seem to have that. Apart from his fur, his hand appeared quite rigid in nature. Possibly something to do with his race. After all, who knows what the descendant of kitsunes could possibly be like - after all, kitsunes were, and some still are, powerful magic users. It was definitely clear, at least to accomplished magic users like Sage, that Fox had a fair bit of inert magic in himself. Like a powerful mage who hasn't realized his potential yet.

After Sage sat herself down, using a bit of magic to extend the bench - nothing a bit of good science couldn't accomplish - he looks over to her hand, that had been placed around him, and simply smirks to himself. One of these types, he thought to himself, this should be fun. As she spoke, his ears pricked up as he started listening to her. Deciding to humour the odd mage, Fox replied as he looks over to Sage as she uses basic illusion magic on herself. "Well, if I wanted to be alone I certainly picked a bad place for it." A cheeky smile spreads across his face as he says it, showing a few of his many sharp, white teeth.

He does, however, look back at the pond when Sage does, as she utters a command word or whatever it is mages call them, and watches with a surprising lack of amazement as the water shoots into the sky. Then a fun thought crossed into his mind. Revenge, in a sense. "Oh, I see. You're trying to show off to me and impress me? How adorable - you fancy me, don't you!"

Crystal
"To thank you..." Standing up on the rocky surface the dragon slipped the watch into her pocket as she looked up at the Yuan-Ti. Then with a tiny smile she mentioned, "Besides, it suits you." Looking down the steepness to the terrain they stood on Crystal stared at it for a while. On foot it'd be rather hard thanks to all the small footholds and such. For the dragon though it's an easy flight down hill. Not really a problem. But then she thought about how Yitah would make it down. It seemed as if his climb up and tired him a bit.

Turning her back to him she crouched down a bit, as if she were offering a piggyback ride. Which is what she was actually doing. "Ride?" Crystal had come up with the idea to fly Yitah down the mountain until they made it to a point where it'd be easier for the serpent to walk on his own two legs. However, she forgot about the fact of how her normal body temperature was always so low.

Her wings were spread out as she glanced over her shoulder at him. Blue purple eyes still held that tired gaze that they normally did. The dragon was serious about carrying the snake man down the mountain. Even if he said no she was still going to fly next to him. Out of fear that he might fall and hurt himself on the way down. "Well? Yes..... or no?" A chilly mountain breeze blew through the area they stood in, picking locks of her hair and moving them up. When they fell back into place she folded and expanded her wings again. Waiting patiently for a reply.

Sage
At Fallix's remark Sage rolled her eyes a bit and sighed, "Oh deary, don't read too much into a scenario." Pointing her finger at his ice cream a bubble formed around it, a protective one. And the reason for that soon followed. "Splash zone!" A small stream of water shot from out of the pond, hitting the beast in his face. After that the fountain vanished as well as the bubble around the minty treat. This had the sorceress laughing now, prank number two was a success. As she continued to laugh, Meadowbrooke snapped her fingers. Right from out of nowhere a towel appeared in front on the furry creature's face.

"Besides, I don't grow too attached to anyone. It's no fun when it happens and they get to move on when you can't." Fun, flashes from her past. This made the magic user sigh, and not happily. Her arms moved from off the back of the bench to hanging besides her. Hand in her lap. Tilting her head back a bit she gazed up at the sky with her oddly purple eyes. Watching a few birds flew above in the air far above them.

Soon enough she glanced over at Fox again from the corner her eye. Head unmoving from where in rested. "But you never did answer my question Fox. Why exactly are you hanging out here? Don't you have any friends that you want to hang out with or something?" A brow raised in confusion at the creature who she sat beside.

YITAH

Yitah seemed fairly confused by Crystal's words. "To thank me?" What possibly for? Yitah had hardly done anything since the pair left, except dump some emotional baggage onto her, and it would've probably been easier for him to find the golden trinket without him to slow her down. Still, she wasn't wrong - it would suit him well. Old, but still looking new and fresh, and still as effective as ever. Not much more could be said about Yitah himself. Like Crystal, his thoughts also turned to how he was going to get down.

Then Crystal spoke again. "A ride? On your back?" Hmm. Probably not the smartest idea, Yitah contemplated to himself. Not to mention that his cold blood would be incredibly dangerous to hold onto a flying ice cube of a woman, Yitah easily weighed more than she did - at least, in her regular form, and it would probably be more difficult to fly with him on her back. So, he thought, the safer option would probably be to walk down normally.

Besides, even though Yitah was feeling a bit unfit - he made a mental note to join a gym, now that his life isn't exactly active anymore - he was still incredibly agile and strong. Not to mention incredibly durable. After a few moments more of thought, he had made his decision. "I think it would be better for the both of us if I just walked. Besides, going down is easier than going up, as they say." With a cold shiver from the wind, and a smirk across his scaly face, he walks over to the ledge and simply drops off. With a quick twist of his body, the rocky wall soon found Yitah's stone sword embedded into some of the cracks, as Yitah used it as a method to climb down the wall quickly. Mixed with a myriad of advanced martial artist moves, plus a few rolling landings to reduce the impact, it didn't seem it would take long for Yitah to descend to a 'safe' height.

FOX

Fox simply chuckled to himself, as his own joke clearly made some sort of impact at least, until Sage pointed towards his ice cream. Why was she so fixated on the thing? As he sees the ward pop up around the iced treat, he sighs as he raises his hand towards it, but stops as the mage says something else. Out of his peripherals he saw, albeit too late, a stream of water heading straight to his face. Gods, magic was annoying. Still, at least his weapons didn't have a chance to misfire or cause odd side effects. Grabbing the towel with a little amount of anger in his face, he gets to work rubbing his face dry. It was going to take ages to get his fur fixed again, now.

Still, he recognized a joke when one happened, and he couldn't stay too mad at her for long - he'd probably try the same thing, if he had a few more of his gadgets on him. Crunching into the last remaining part of his ice cream, the wafer cone itself, he listened to her speak attentively. Hearing a bit of sadness from her, he seemed a bit curious about her words. 'They get to move on when you can't?' - what did that mean? Trying to work out what she meant, he almost forgot to reply to her question.

"Oh! Er...I don't have many friends. Comes with the job, I suppose. When you work around death and crime, others tend to associate that sort of stuff with you. I'm a detective, you see, and a solo one at that. So, as you can imagine, I don't get the luxury of friendship. Shame, really. I like friends." As he speaks, he looks down to his right arm as he uses his now free left arm to clean his mouth with. "Anyways, some of the more...zealous citizens have a habit of calling me an abomination. Not good for reputation, as you can imagine." He seemed somewhat sad as he spoke, but soon perked up again. "What about you? Why are you here?"

Crystal
The ice dragon gave a small nod in response to his statement that was laced with confusion. But she stood up straight when Yitah said he'd climb down himself, giving a small shrug of her shoulders. It was probably best that she didn't unintentionally harm him by trying to simply help him down the mountain. However, when he started down the rocky terrain Crystal soon followed. Flying nearby in case something were to happen to the snake man.

By adjusting her wing speed the woman managed to keep pace with the Yuan-Ti as he made his way down. With her tired gaze she managed to keep an eye on him. Though it was rather difficult with the way he climbed down, odd in Crystal's opinion. But everyone was different in their own, unique way. Yitah was no different.

Once they made it to a spot where they could walk normally the horns and wings of the dragon vanished. Leaving a rather ordinary looking girl standing in place. Her white hair though stuck out from anyone's sense of normal. "You ok....?" Looking up at the serpent now that they could walk without much of a hassle. Even with them being near the bottom of the mountain and the temperature getting warmer, there was still frigid air. The cause being the ice dragon who had to keep herself in some form of icy environment. If not she'd slowly die of overheating.

Sage
"Ah death.... Sweet, blissful death..." The mage's voice a mumble when she learned of his occupation and what he dealt with. That was always going to be a thing she'd wish for, but it'd never come. All because of a damn curse. "But I guess we're both in the same boat of not having any friends. I've got my own reasons that I don't have any." Sage sat there as she listened to him speak some more. Rather quiet as she took in the details of what he had to say

When he asked about what her reasoning for being in the park on this day. She gave a small chant before her art supplies flew over to them. "I was painting. I'm an artist that paints whatever comes to mind, it's how I make money." The painting she had been working on was almost complete. It was a landscape of the park with a few people captured in the moment she had seen earlier in the morning.

But with a snap of her fingers it all vanished. Sage had sent it to her home with a simple teleportation spell that she had master when she was four. After a moment or so a small smile soon crept across her lips as she turned to look at Fallix. "Well I don't believe you're an abomination. In this place there are all sorts of crazy weird people. You're no different nor any worse than anyone else here. So don't worry about what they say." Placing a hand on his head she ruffled the orangish brown fur a bit as her smile got a bit bigger. "You'll make some friends."

Duncan Moore

Again Duncan found himself to be incredibly bored, swimming around in his pool hoping for something interesting to happen and as normal, nothing did. He continued to circle around his pool until something caught his eye, a small grate in his pool. He took a moment to examine it, he hadn't noticed it before but it had been there for some time as the bolts where coming loose. "What?...." he thought to himself as he tilted his head head in confusion. There was already water running through it, so it would do no harm if the grate was removed. He took a moment to tug at it and after a while the bolts came out of the pools inner walls.

Duncan took a moment to look down the pipe, it was big enough for him to swim through, "Wonder whats down there" he thought to himself, he could see very well in the dark water, so he took a moment and began to swim down the pipe, either out of pure boredom or curiosity. It was going well, despite the few times he banged his head on the top of the pipe way. He had been swimming for some time now until the pipe fell off into a lake, a lake within a cave.

He could have sworn he heard movement, and so in a combination of inquisitiveness and naivety, poked his upper body out of the water and asked aloud "H-hello? anyone t-there?"

Lorturim Yalkud
Curled up within the darkness of the cave, tunnels extending beneath the mountain which the great fire-breather often used to get around unseen during the day in his dragon form, a massive winged-lizard covered in red scales slumbered within. Nestled within the cave was also a large pool of water, a lake that was big enough to harvest fish and for the dragon to rest and bathe in though there was another underground lake further back within the cavern system where the dragon liked to make his other home. The dragon had just settled down to sleep near the lake that was fed by a pipe nestled within the rock. Lorturim didn't mind the pipe, as long as it fed the lake and supplied the occasional fish he was grateful for it and would tolerate its presence within his home. Yet in all these years that the dragon had lived within the mountains, and it wasn't many, the dragon heard something pop up out of the water but his red eyelids remained closed, thinking it was just a fish poking its head up. He wouldn't be half off in his thinking

A voice echoed throughout the cave, seeping into the dragon's ears and causing the beast to stir. Slowly one of his eyelids peeled open, revealing a vermilion eye, the pupil widening as the thin membrane over the eye that protected his eyes when underwater slid back, allowing the dragon to lift his head and a loud growl rumble within the scaled-beast's chest and out through his maw. Opening his other eye, he lifted his neck to its full height, the cave he was in having been selected to allow the animal to grow, stand and move to his heart's content without bumping his head against the ceiling or having to stoop. He was still growing and would likely grow for many years to come, possibly decades but already he was an intimidating and impressive creature. His nostrils flared as he scented the stale air around him, sniffing for any sign of the voice but all he detected was fish. He knew fish couldn't talk so what exactly had spoken?

Rosaria raised a brow in confusion as to what Isabelle had said about the photo. Not because of how she said it, but what exactly her answer had been. Taking the picture in her own hand she held and stared at it. Then those blue orbs of hers slowly started to become dilated the longer she gazed upon it. "I-it is me!" The halfling managed to stammer out through the shock of this neew finding.

In the photo sat a younger Rosaria, the child version of herself. This picture was pry taken around the time she was three or four years of age. And it had appeared that it was taken without her knowing it completely, one could tell my the dazed look in her eyes. But in the photo the halfling was sitting on the stump of a tree, her hair a boyish shape. Though with her feminine face and gentle eyes it was hard to mistake her for the opposite gender. Even back then her hair was red with those handful of white locks scattered throughout. That and the fact she was wearing a white dress.

After a period of silence, she elf looked at Isabelle. "Where did you get this? My mother never had any child so how could that-" It hit her, the idea of how such a thing was possible. "My father," Rosaria mumbled softly, "My father left before I was born... I can guess that my mother sent this to him a few years after I was born.... And if that is true in order for you to have such a photograph means that." There was a thud as the cookie she had been holding fell to the floor. "He ran off and had another family... Making you a demon." The picture she had been holding also managed to slip from her grasp, it floated a bit before landing at Mortimer's feet.

YITAH

Looking around as he climbed down the mountainside, Yitah noticed Crystal floating down next to him. Was she watching over him? Yitah didn't need a bodyguard - he was the bodyguard, in most cases. He didn't mind her being there, watching over him, but deep down it was scratching at his pride. He had been doing this for centuries - he didn't need to be looked after like a freshly hatched youngling. Still, he knew there was little he could do about it, so he did his best to ignore Crystal's presence in case she accidentally distracted him. If that happened, and he made a mistake, he got the feeling he'd never hear the end of it.

As he descended, he soon realized he was slightly out of practice. While he jumped from rock to rock seemingly with ease, a few sharp rocks started to nick at him. Probably not enough to do much more than scratch his scales, but it was starting to tear at the seams of his clothing. Landing with a flourish, Yitah seemed to barely notice the few tiny tears and rips in the cloth of his gear, revealing some of the clothes under his coat.

His breathing already returned to normal, as the descent was a lot easier than the ascent - after all he was falling more than anything else, most of the time - he looked to Cystal as she enquired about his health. Still feeling the chill in the air, although it was a lot more tolerable than up in the clouds, he simply nods. "I'm fine. Been a while since I've done anything like that, though. To tell you the truth, I missed this sort of thing. Adventuring, finding artefacts in the wilderness, life threatening situations...been a while since I've felt my blood pump like this."

FOX

Fox listened, a bit wide-eyed, as Sage spoke with a morose and somewhat dark tone. She seemed strangely fixated on the concept of death - definitely not healthy for a woman, to be sure. Or healthy for anyone nearby, depending on her 'tastes'. Still, she seemed amiable enough. As he listened about her lack of friends, similar to Fox himself, he felt rather empathetic to her. He knew what it was like to be alone, although he suspected for different reasons to Sage herself, and it certainly wasn't fun.

As she explained what she was doing her, Fox nodded. "Art, eh? I prefer the sciences myself, but some have always said that science is a form of art and vice versa." While Fox didn't like art himself, he could certainly respect those who did. After all, it took skill, steely determination and confidence to be a good artist. As he looked her piece up and down, he found some points on it that didn't seem...correct. It looked good enough, to be sure, but he had an eye for things that didn't seem right, and he saw a few things that didn't seem exactly right. Still, he understood how not to be rude, and thought it best to not mention anything. Just as quickly as it came, however, Sage had used magic to send it all away.

While he was still thinking about the painting, Sage started talking again. Talking about how she thought he wasn't what everyone thought he was. After gritting his teeth through the ruffling of his fur - he was definitely going to have to brush it again - he looked back to her with almost a frown. "Well, I'm not exactly 100% foxkin - I am missing a few 'parts', so to speak - I believe that is why they think so lowly of me."

Duncan Moore

Duncan found himself grow still upon hearing a low growling sound, he could swear he saw movement in the distance. upon seeing it he gasped a bit "Oh..no....who there!?" he yelped as he darted his head around and then his body, causing splashes in the water around him. He wanted to meet someone but not like this, he was terrified, his mind raced with what was in this cave with him. And that's when he saw the red eye in the distance.

At this point he was completely still, only the occasional whimper coming from his mouth "D-dragon......" he murmured, or at least that's what he thought it was, what else could live on land, have an eye like that and make noises like that?.

he found it difficult to think straight at the moment. He wanted to swim away but his body wouldn't let him and even if he could, where would he go? he didn't know this cave at all.

Crystal

"Your clothes...." Crystal noticed that the rips and tears in his heavier gear. She felt a bit bad that his clothing got all messed up. They looked like they were good quality too. But it couldn't be helped, Yitah made the choice to go down the mountain the way he did. Though he did seem rather sturdy for having done what he did. A bit impressive in the dragon's mind.

Staring aimlessly at the forest that they'd have to walk through to get to town she sighed. Pulling the time telling device from her pocket she poked at it with her finger. It would take time before it'd be up and working normally as it should. Crystal would need the proper gears and tools in order to get such a tedious task accomplished.

Though the dragon had unconsciously started walking as she continued to examine the pocket watch. Not paying any really attention to what was going on in the environment around her. Which included the direction she traveled in. Crystal just aimlessly walked with her gaze fixated on the gold object she held.

Sage

With a smile she wrapped an arm around his shoulders. Giving him a small side hug. "Come now, no need to think of such thing negatively. It makes you unique." Sage's smile grew warmer as she attempted to help the Foxkin perk up some. Giving him another small squeeze. She understood how it is to feel different from everyone else. Meadowbrooke has known it for the past two centuries now.

"I'm a bit like you when I think about it. For there is something that is missing in me." Slowly, her arm slipped from around fox. Hands in her lap now, one on top of the other. Debating for a moment she decided to tell him. "Unlike normal beings, I've lost the ability to die and grow old. I'm cursed. Now whether you choose to believe me or not is entirely up to you. Though I can prove it if you really want to test it."

Glancing over at Fallix her smile had grown rather said after having told her secret. "Though I'm still able to feel all the pain that follows." Why Sage decided to tell this creature of science about her curse, well she didn't quite know herself. It more than likely was to show Fox that he wasn't alone in a way. The mage sympathized with the beast.

YITAH

"My clothes? What about them?"
As he speaks, he looked down to see all of the cuts in his clothing. "Ahh, damn." Cursing and grumbling at his new discovery, wiggling clawed fingers through the holes that the rocky cliff had created. Still cursing silently to himself, Yitah finally sighs as he accepts that he was going to have to spend an afternoon either trying to fix them, or buy new ones altogether. At least the holes didn't seem big enough for the wind to breathe through to his skin - well, his scales.

Since Yitah wasn't particularly familiar with the area - at least, it wasn't fresh in his memory - he decided it to be best to let Crystal lead the pair back to the city. After all, she got them to the mountain in the first place with little to no bother. Following close behind her, he started to notice she seemed distracted with the pocketwatch. Still, he just shrugged and assumed she was paying attention to their general location?

After some time, however, Yitah started to notice...odd things. The wind wasn't blowing in the right direction, the moss on the trees and rocks were shifted and even the sun seemed to be in the wrong place. "Er...Crystal? Are we headed in the right direction?" He says, looking around at the unfamiliar terrain. He wasn't particularly bothered if they were lost - it's not like the news would collapse without the CEO (not like he did much in the company anymore, anyways).

FOX

Fox almost seemed to shudder as Sage wrapped her arm around him - he certainly wasn't expecting it, after all. He definitely wasn't expecting a hug. Feeling a slight heat in his cheeks, Fox definitely appeared almost embarrassed to be hugged like he was some kind of cute animal. Still, her words brought him some solace. Her smile appeared real, he noticed, before he was soon crushed again by her hugs. A bit odd, but perhaps that is what she does with her friends. With how secretly lonely he was, he could grin and bear it for the sake of companionship and just general friendship - he never acted like it, but if he could trade his superior intellect for friends he would. Foxkin were always social animals, a bit like wolves, and a lone foxkin often suffered the curse of loneliness.

What the mage said next came as somewhat of a surprise. As Fox listened to her tale, his ears pricked up and a few new thoughts came into his mind. Immortality, huh? Fox had fiddled with the idea in the past, and had came up with a few theories to accomplish the seemingly impossible feat, but he had never seen a reason to finish it. He had no need to be immortal, after all. Perhaps if he decided to do that space exploration thing he toyed with, perhaps, but for now he didn't want to live forever.

Fox seemed to be deep in thought as she finishes her words. Around a minute of staring into the distance, not really looking at anything in particular, he suddenly grabbed her hand for one of her hands with his own. "If you don't mind", he said after realizing the awkwardness of the situation, "I'd like to scan you - perhaps science can pick up where magic slacked off - perhaps I could find a way around your curse?" At the end of the day, it was an interesting project - possibly enough to get Fox out of the miserable boredom he was in.
