Alina has a head full of soft, golden blonde curls. She rarely does anything to it, preferring to wear it freely and in its natural state. Her hair is one of her most distinguishing features. She had hazel eyes that appear more green than brown most of the time and they’re also one of the first things that people notice about her. Personality: The children of Apollo are often associated with sunshine. People look at them and see rays of light sunlight personified, beings who are full of energy with eyes that sparkle with life. Alina however, is not as energetic as many of her siblings. Instead she prefers to move at a slower pace. There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with enjoying the little things in life, to stop and smell the roses now and again. She believes that living life in the fast lane is not the way to go, there are so many things that one would miss if they just speed by. Alina wants to live her life in a way that lets her experience all that she can in a slow yet fulfilling process.

Her aura reminds people of the warmth of a sunny day. The type of comforting heat that comes with laying underneath the sun and falling asleep as it’s golden rays act as a blanket of sorts.   • Vitakinesis - By singing a hymn to her father Alina is able to heal wounds and diseases . The length of the process depends on the damage. She can handle stab wounds and the like without any drawback and swiftly. Sicknesses like pneumonia and infections from injuries are also easy. Her blood also has healing properties. Life threatening things require more time and energy.

    Audiokinesis - Alina has the ability to manipulate music and sound waves. She mimic, intensify, hush, and distort, as well warp, strengthen, echo, speed up, and slow down sound. Alina often uses this ability in the form of a high pitched whistling sound that causes an intense headache to those who hear it or in the form of sonic waves that she can physically release from her body.

    Photokinesis - As the daughter of a sun god Alina has the ability to manipulate light. She can use this ability in many ways, such as releasing solar flares to create a whip of light or using it to simply radiate heat and light from her body. She can also create a dome of bright light and heat that others are unable to look into without hurting their eyes. And if surrounded themselves, leads to dehydration or fainting.
Drawbacks
  • Daylight - Daylight is Alina’s biggest ally when it comes to her power. Though she produces her own solar energy her power is more effective during the day, where she can absorb more energy from the sun itself. At night her power is dimmed, not as bright under the light of the moon. Because of this she saves her energy, instead using it to give her a boost physically.
  • Concentration - Alina can only manipulate herself and two others when it comes to messing with noises. When using this power on others she has to remain looking at them, should they leave her sight the connection with be broken.
  • Hand to Hand Combat - Alina has basic hand to hand combat skills but she’s more adept at using bows or other ranged weapons.
Strengths:
  • Marksmanship - Alina’s aim rarely wavers, she has a keen eye and can hit her target from long distances or while moving even.
  • The Arts - Alina is a skilled musician and artist. No matter the instrument or art form Alina excels in it.
  • Mediator - Alina had the ability to look at both sides of an argument and thus, help those involved come to an agreement. Her disarming nature helps people feel at ease and thus, willing to listen to her most of the time.
Gift: Alina was given sonic arrows once she was recognized as a daughter of Apollo and sorted into her dorm. They were given to the school by Apollo himself. The arrows make a loud screeching sound when they are shot and when they land they unleash a sonic blast. Alina also posses a Xiphos & Shield, though these were just given to her by the school.

Vision: Alina had her vision during a senior trip to Athens. While inside the national archeological museum she had been taking a virtual tour when suddenly the tour guide’s voice changed and the statue before her began to speak.

Background: Alina was born in Marseille, France. A place known for its sunshine. She grew up in a single parent home with her mother, a well known poet and artist. She grew up in a loving and carefree household. Her mother being the laid back type, she was someone who loved spending time with her daughter and letting her express herself. The topic of her father was always something that she had been curious about and her mother had been honest with her.

The two of them had met in an art gallery and had hit it off right away. It was not love that they had between them but they cared for one another or rather that’s what her mother thought before he up and left, failing to show up in the delivery room after Alina was born. Alina was hurt by what she was told, wondering why her father would up and abandon them and thus shunned everything that involved him. Secretly she longed to know the reason.

During a school trip to Athens Alina was gazing at a statue of Apollo, when suddenly the world turned dark and then a beautiful gold. Before her stood the god Apollo and it was then that she was told of her destiny. Alina decided to attend the academy, because a small part of her wanted to know more about her heritage. She also wanted to learn how to control her newfound powers and escape from the various monsters threatening her and her mother.

Ikenna is the type of person who stands out from the crowd. People notice him when it enters the room due to his size alone. At 6’4” he towers over many of those around him. His body is solid, tank like in the way that it’s toned. Ikenna's figure is muscular from not only keeping in shape. His physique is fitting for someone descended from a divine being.

Ikenna has black hair that he keeps low and neat. He takes care of it, keeping his line sharp and 360 waves on point with the help of his hard brush and durag. His eyes are pure onyx, his gaze is intense and even hypnotic to some. Ikenna’s skin is dark brown, the type of brown that borders on black and in the moonlight it appears blue.

Personality: As the legacy of an alusi of war, a being who is said to bring out the savagery in others, it’s to be expected that his personality would be more on the volatile side of the spectrum. And they’re right in a sense. Ikenna is someone who loves violence. He adores the rush that comes with fighting with others. Reveals in the way he is able to push and poke at people until they explode on him. There’s something beautiful in the way fighting gets the blood bumping, the heart racing as two beings rush eachother with promises of hurt in their eyes. There is no doubt that Ikenna is the legacy of war. People are aware of how easy it is for him to slip into a state of aggression. As a child he would get into fights without care. Smiling as he was pulled back with blood on his person, be it his own or his enemy’s. Broken bones healed and so they failed to stop him.

While Ikenna is all brute strength and feral energy, he is a smooth talker as well. There are those who think him a dumb jock, a beast even and he lets them. He enjoys the satisfaction of when he proves them wrong, when they let their guard down until he’s close enough to strike. Ikenna is calculating and observant. His sharp gaze notices many things but he keeps silent, waiting until the right moment to use whatever detail or information he’s gathered. Ikenna’s tongue is silver, he can be quite charming when he wants to be. A few honey words whispered and some careful manipulating gives him the ability to leave others eating out of the palm of his hand. He is a skilled actor who can fake emotions. Clearly he deserves a reward.

In his opinion there are little uses for rules, other than to stop him from doing what he wants. Ikenna had never cared for being told what to do. He blatantly challenges authority when he can, pushing them to show their true nature, that they are no better than everyone else. There is no hidden softness beneath his hard exterior. Ikenna isn’t the person to go to if someone needs comforting. His words are often blunt and piercing, cutting deep into old wounds or carving new ones.

  • Enhanced Condition - With the blood of Ekwensu running through his veins, Ikenna more durable than the average human. Though he his only a legacy his strength is at a Herculean level.
  • Enhanced Combat - As the grandson of a war god, fighting comes naturally to him. Ikenna is able to adapt to using different weapons and fighting styles with ease. A single touch or a few watches is all it takes. As a prince he was taught a variety of fighting styles to protect himself.
  • Anger Manipulation - Ikenna can subtly arouse feelings of impulsive anger, hatred, and bloodlust in people, to the point of instigating physical violence. He also feeds off of negative emotions, they act as fuel to make him stronger.
Drawbacks
  • Legacy - As mighty as he is Ikenna is still only a legacy. He doesn’t have any strong powers like fire manipulation or even super speed like demigods. And while he condition is enhanced he is still able to be hurt easier than many of them.
Strengths:
  • Combat - As a prince Ikenna was taught to defend himself by a skilled teacher. He has also learned all sorts of fighting styles throughout his years at the academy. As soon as he learn that there were those who had stronger and more magical abilities than him, he set out to study and learn as much as he could.
  • Strategizing - Ikenna knows how to carefully plan attacks to take out opponents. He can do this is the midst of a fight, carefully reading them to figure out their next move or when actively working against a group. His battle plans are usually well thought out and detailed.
  • Manipulation - Ikenna has a way of getting under people’s skin. He is a master liar with the ability to fake emotions better than award winning actors. With a few careful words Ikenna can have people shaking in anger, cowering from a blow to their weak point, or eating out of the palm of his hands.
Gifts:
  • Spiked Mace - A large spiked mace forged by Ekwensu himself. The weapon is blessed so that it may never break and that those who dare touch it, besides Ikenna, should drop by the sheer weight of it.
  • Coral Bead Ring - Though simple in design the ring is much more than its appearance makes it out to be. The ring has the ability to bind people when Ikenna makes deals with them. Should the person not hold up to their end, they suffer through bad luck that starts off small before eventually increasing in severity. A red ring around the ring finger is a sign of this.

Lineage: Grandson of Ekwensu, Trickster Alusi of War and Bargains.

Vision: Ikenna remembers being involved in an all out brawl in an alley one day, though he doesn’t remember why it had started, all that mattered was the sound of fighting surrounding him. It was at the end, when his enemies lay laid out at his feet that the world changed. Suddenly he was surrounded by ending of a war, bodies were scattered among the dirt, all wearing various types of armor. And upon looking down, Ikenna realized that he too was dressed as a mighty Igbo warrior. His grandfather came to him, standing tall and proud as he spoke of his destiny.

Background:
Ikenna hails from Imo State, Nigeria. Within his home state Ikenna grew up in a multi-compound home, a palace as he is the grandson of a king on his mother’s side. Throughout his life he shamelessly used his position to his advantage, getting out of trouble with ease thanks to his title. Negative marks rarely stuck to him and despite how many scoldings he received, Ikenna continued with his mischief and mayhem.

From a young age Ikenna grew up learning the traditional religion of his people, worshipping the Alusi and living in their honor. It was one of the few things that he took seriously. He recalls many fond times where he would sit down with the others, surrounded by other children within the palace as they learned of their history and how their people came to be. His eyes were wide and bright as he listened and hung onto every word coming from the teacher’s mouth.

Life for him was one without worry. Ikenna wanted for nothing throughout his life. He was held in high regard for as long as he could remember. So when he learned of his true heritage there was no surprise. Ikenna knew that he was destined for a life of greatness. When faced with the challenge of fighting a monster he stepped up to the plate without hesitation in order to protect those he loved.

Christina (Tina) Stone
Growing up, Tina was easily missed in a crowd, and that was how she liked it. People described her as quiet and a bit socially awkward though sweet of disposition and easy with a smile. Her free natured spirit leads her to prefer the outdoors over staying inside. The wind and forest are her friend and she's as quick to go camping as she is to plop down in a comfortable chair and read for hours on end.

While it seems that she is super easy going and has few dislikes or fears, it is clear being out in storms make her anxious, especially now that she has wings. A crowded room will also send her running as quickly as the threat of a small confined space. She reacts poorly to having her wings touched by anyone she doesn't trust. That said, Tina's lack of many negative social interactions makes her a little too quick to trust, often leading her to be manipulated without even realizing it. She prefers to be positive, giving people the benefit of the doubt, perhaps more times than they deserve it.

Tina grew up hearing stories about her Great-grandmother on her father's side, daughter of Zephyrus, who had been a great archer and hero. She'd had wings and power over the winds themselves. Her Mother dismissed the stories as crazy tales and divorced her father while Tina was still young. She traveled 20 states in 17 years, never having time to settle down and make friends or be a normal kid. She learned to entertain herself, spending much of her time reading or exploring.

While camping in the forest one evening, a strong wind flew in, and Zephyrus himself appeared, confirming that which she had suspected in her heart since she were a child. She was meant for more, and from that day forth she knew her life had changed for the better. Her mother dismissed her claims and attempted to put her into therapy until Tina's wings began to grow and proved what she said was true. A few months later she joined Mythos Academy and has yet to leave. She's gotten some flack and teasing for being a legacy, but she's determined to prove nay-sayer's wrong and make her GG proud.

Tina is starting her Sophomore year here in Mythos Academy. Due to Zephyrus' affinity with wind and nature, she has found herself in Silva dorm. Seeking an offensive ability beyond control over the wind, she picked up Archery and has garnered some skill with it. She has an innate sense of direction, making it difficult for her to be lost. In addition has a keen sight when she focuses on her target hard enough and as long as there is a little bit of light, the darkness does little to impede her. She can be found in both Nature Club and Archery Club when not flying around or exploring the woods around the Academy.

Lolo, much like her birth mother, has a strong sense of justice. She's the type to stand up for herself and others and do what she believes to be right without hesitation. She's very outspoken and blunt with her words, oftentimes seen as merciless, and won't hold her tongue simply to appease another. In times of strife, one can always find her on the front lines courageously leading the charge or coming up with winning strategies. Lolo strives in competition and fields where she can use her skills rather than luck. The girl prefers not to be idly sitting around, especially when there is work to be done. As passionate as she is about everything she puts her heart into, Lolo can be a bit short-tempered. It doesn't take much to get under her skin when the right buttons are pressed. There are times where she can be vicious or hostile after something has pissed her off. Her greatest fault is that she's strongly independent. Demigod; Direct Descendant of Olympian Goddess Athena; ruler of wisdom, warfare, civilization, the arts, skill, and handicrafts

It was during her fight with a local bully that she had her vision. Philomena was never one to allow anyone to push her around so when a boy had pushed her too far and she resorted to fighting back, she blacked out over his unconscious body. When she came to she was on a battlefield riddled with weapons sticking from the ground and fires blazing. A flag waved in the distance with the symbol of Athena and her mother stood over her with a shield and lightning bolt in hand. The goddess foretold her destiny at that time.

As a daughter of one of three virgin goddesses, Philomena was born in a rather unconventional way. Rather than natural conception, she was birthed through the power of Athena's mind, sprouting forth life from her own essence as a gift for her father. The two met when he was younger and rapidly moving up in the ranks as an officer. Athena was fascinated by his courage and valor and was taken with his heroics. The police officer saved more lives in the city than any other and for that, she deemed him a hero worthy of raising her child. She bestowed upon him a baby to raise as his own before promptly returning to her duties in Olympus. Thus, Philomena came to be the child of a police officer.

Growing up in Villa Nova de Gaia, Portugal was all she had known. The port city filled with life and love that her father swore to protect as the current commissioner presiding over the city. He taught her how to fight at a young age to protect herself, how to use weapons and firearms safely so she'd never be in a situation without protection. She was a natural with them as well as athletics or anything other physical activity. Philomena excelled at every sport she joined easily rising to the top position and leading the teams. Picking up new skills always came naturally to her for a reason she didn't quite understand.

When she was a child she used to ask her father why she was the only girl in her class who didn't know her mother. He'd tell her that she had to go away for work in a faraway place but she was loved dearly, that her mother thought of her daily. It was difficult growing up without the love of a mother or another woman to teach her 'girly' things but Philomena adjusted fine. By the time she was in high school, the girl was running the student body, captain of her sports teams, and had near-perfect grades. It was during her senior year before graduation that she had her vision of her mother, Athena. Her powers had awakened fully around that time and she came to understand her purpose. The monsters soon came for her as her mother told her they would. That was what convinced her to attend Mythos rather than a conventional college, to protect her father when he spent years protecting her. She wanted to be like both of her parents and shield those around her from the evil that dared threaten them.

It's incredibly difficult to manipulate curses and blessings without keeping her emotions under control. She accidentally curses people when she's angry or blesses them when she's happy.

She's limited to creating weapons she knows the components of. If Philomena doesn't know how it's built then she can't conjure it. Ones she typically creates are swords, spears, shields, bows, and more 'medieval' weaponry.

Changing her voice for extended periods of time can be very straining on her throat and vocal cords. She often needs to use throat medication or some sort to soothe it.

Philomena is painfully independent. She'd much rather suffer alone than accept that she needs help. Oftentimes she forgets she's too powerful or not powerful enough.

Other people are certainly a weakness for her because she simply cannot turn down someone who needs her. She'll go as far as sacrificing herself for the sake of another or doing whatever it takes to keep others safe. Philomena is a bit too loving for her own good.

Mylo acts more like a weapon than a person. He thinks with his fists, and he's sooner to swing than start a conversation, especially if that conversation involves his feelings. Mylo keeps his walls up constantly, and he's quick to push others away by any means possible to protect himself. He's very conscious of his appearance, and he often comes off as aloof and cold to hide his doubts and insecurities. If Mylo cares about something, he'll do whatever it takes to make sure nobody knows it. He treats competition like survival, and he's been led to believe that people are threats and he should always be on his guard.

Born from death, Mylo Garrick's destiny was written in blood from the moment he took his first breath. His mother, a daughter of Ares, died due to complications during his birth. This left Mylo with his father who, although a mortal, would raise his son with an iron-first akin to the Greek God of War himself. Because he survived at the price of his mother, Mylo was an object of his father's resentment from early on.

Mylo's parents had met while they were serving as Marines for the U.S. Army. Although Mylo's father didn't know about his wife's godly status, he would raise Mylo for war even with the absence of her influence. Mylo's father was forced to leave the military to be the primary caretaker of his son, which only added to his distaste for his child. From a young age, Mylo was subject to his father's wrath and resentment, which often manifested through verbal, emotional, and sometimes physical abuse.

Unfortunately, Mylo grew up learning from his father. He wasn't taught proper communication skills, and he developed a habit of using his fists instead of his words. He wasn't given much love while growing up, which has made it hard for him to express his feelings and become close to others. His behavioral issues began as a child, which affected his ability to make friends and excel in school. Despite not giving his son the tools for success, Mylo's father always expected it— and the consequences of failure and not living up to his father's expectations were harsh.

Mylo spent his childhood and teenage years alone. His anger only grew with time, and his personality became more dangerous and explosive with each year spent under the rule of his father. He struggled in school, and his propensity for getting into trouble often put him in danger. He made more enemies than friends, as he found himself getting into fights more often than not.

Because of the environment and treatment he experienced growing up, he struggled to find outlets for his growing aggression and inner turmoil. When he wasn't exchanging blows with whoever he would decide to pick a fight with, Mylo was writing. He's filled up numerous notebooks throughout his life, and he still finds a sense of catharsis and relief in scrawling all of his thoughts onto paper with a pen as his only weapon. He also found solace in nature, and because of his proximity to the ocean, the beach would become his second home. When the walls of his room threatened to bury him as he struggled to keep his head above the overwhelming buildup of rage and emotion that gathered within him, Mylo would spend his days— including frequent overnight stays sleeping on the sand— listening to the waves and breathing in the fresh salty air while he purged his thoughts onto paper.

When he turned eighteen, Mylo received his vision. He had found himself in another fight, and this time he was outnumbered. Although he was used to losing fights, this one wasn't going to end with him walking home to nurse his wounds. After beating him, the three men he'd pit himself against decided to throw himself off the pier they had met on. Mylo was dropped into the ocean, and as soon as he hit the water, his vision came to him. As he was beginning to drown, the water around him turned into blood, and Mylo was able to rise above the waves. Once he made is back to land and collapsed on the sand, a voice told him of his destiny.

Desperate for somewhere else to go, Mylo had few reservations about attending Mythos. He left Los Angeles— and his father— to live at the school. He spent his first year doing what he had done his whole life: he got into fights. After years of feeling inferior, his status as a Legacy hasn't done much to remedy that. The fact that he received no powers from his godly grandfather hasn't helped much either. Even though he's now escaped the rule of his father, the damage done from the abuse still affects Mylo. He constantly feels the need to prove himself, and he has difficulty getting along with others. Because his abilities don't surpass those of a mortal, he struggles to keep up with training and general schooling. Although he's had plenty of adversaries throughout his life, he still remains his own worst enemy.

Reputation: Love, hate, elsewhere in the limbo of ambivalence, whatever judgement one may have, Eleanor has undoubtedly heard it; ‘popular’ might be an embellishment she tells newcomers in ironic jest (popularity is such a primitive secondary school conception, after all), although she has been indisputably one of the most prominent students amongst campus, for her flippant, unbridled and prankster conduct. All things considered, Mythos treats her with generous favour contrasted to her mother—Lenn hasn’t started a war, at least, unless you include her prank war against Fletcher, but to account for her earlier years as admirable would be a step too far.

Progression through adulthood has softened her, one should mention, to the alleviation of professors and students likewise. Nowadays, Lenn’s posture is akin to the role of ‘I’m not just a regular aunt, I’m a cool aunt’—a position, merged with her already sociable, cordial mien, she has graced earnestly. Students pursue avoidance in Lenn, a space to ignore their hardships (which, it goes without saying, pervades bittersweet irony) and simply live, whether it be through puerile laughs, or escapades, it doesn’t matter; Eleanor has a perpetual eagerness to pull everyone along the path less travelled.

Whisper In The Wind— As an acolyte of chaos, bearer of entropy, Lenn can not only predispose someone to, but influence sentiments of misery and friction: from surface-level triviality to notions of unforeseen character; it requires application on singular targets, albeit unbeknownst is the amount of individuals she can alter at any given time.

Negative Empowerment—States in the matter of woe, rage, agony, melancholy are issues of prevention. For Eleanor, they are a commodity; as steroids are to physical greatness, negativity strengthens her powers. Through working in tandem with Whisper In The Wind, Eleanor can inflame desired feelings; then accordingly, she consumes said feelings. Negative Empowerment coincides with Eleanor’s personal afflictions as well.

Postface: This only vitalizes powers; it does not negate the crippling effects Lenn’s emotions may have on her mental and physical wellbeing. Nor does it relieve the focused individual of their anguish.

The Eye Of Eris—Equivalency to clairvoyance allows Eleanor to perceive negative emotions disguised by superficial deterrent—or ‘what we hide behind a mask’, as one might say. Once again capable of feeding on them, though to a lesser degree. Such power demands attentiveness centred on the singularity of each individual she aspires to comprehend (similar to Whisper In The Wind); a vast inflow of unstable emotions, of which are richer than Eleanor can control, alongside her own emotions, may bring about decay of the mind.

Collective Serpentine—Attributed to the hissing serpent, which represents her mother, Eleanor boasts the flair of communicating with, and controlling, aforementioned creature; to boot, in the preceding year, her capability has broadened to reptiles as a whole. Even so, her relationship is greatest with serpents. She’s always had an affinity for herpetology, of which deepened upon her vision.

Gifts:

The Apple of Eris—Plucked from a grove in the Garden of the Hesperides, the impetus for the Judgement of Paris, Eleanor carries her mother’s Golden Apple of Discord: ‘To the most beautiful’ engraved upon its skin. Imperishable, it yields a limitless food and energy supply, ensuring Eleanor shall never starve; furthermore, it can bolster the property of her Negative Empowerment ergo maximizing the potency of the emotions she absorbs, subsequently influencing her supplementary powers.

Serpent—Although the academy interdicts potentially unsafe animals, faculty approved Eleanor keeping a ball python, called Moira, since freshman year; she is brown with cream spots and has achieved a peak span of four and a half feet. She inhabits a fifty-five-gallon tank in Eleanor’s room, however because of a ball python’s serene nature she may roam campus provided Eleanor monitors her.

Strengths:

Swordswoman—Juvenile brawls were a repeated occurrence for Eleanor. Attuned to violence—albeit with insufficient skill in hand to hand combat—she developed zest for fencing; an activity, which practically invites her consciousness to an idyllic clearance, or so she claims. Her movements are long, delicate, and fluid, handling the épée. A presentation on self-discipline as well, for perhaps the first time in her existence, foremost impressions of her might betray an unknowing observant if viewed in action.

Humility—Principle of superiority has never been a facet of Lenn’s agenda. Unfortunately for her and those around her, it clouds her judgement all too often; Lenn reacts first, thinks later.

Hindsight—A most fascinating element of the human mind; a seemingly congenital trait of everyone on a wavelength of its own entirety. Some are capable of tuning into it, reflecting on their previous actions, an afterthought permitting them to never repeat the same mistake again. And whilst Eleanor too is capable of such a feat, her arbitrary impetuousness keeps her moving forward, never daring contemplate on the past—perhaps out of fear of regret.

Dilettante— Eleanor has an unpleasant custom of becoming superficially entrenched in the exuberance of new projects, with minor consideration of the fallout it may generate in the subsequent future; the facility of living in the present is very much valuable, to some extent. However, all too often does she overlook those around her, even her own health and safety. Notwithstanding it scarcely affords peace of mind, her attention increasingly waning days or weeks—months even—after the fact, longing for the freshness of another passion.

Four years thereafter, even now, the vision is absolute in her mind. If she had the artistic competence, she could very well paint it with sufficient accuracy to equal the great Renaissance painters.

It came at eighteen years old, amidst her time in the mental health unit, in Leeds Royal Infirmary, because of alcohol abuse. As she lay in bed, her body detoxing itself of the alcohol, listening to the wails of another patient yearning for death, she stared at the ceiling. Her internal voice called out, prayed for the assurance of nirvana from God—if he was truly there. There was an instantaneous quintessential light, as if staring into a fusion of one thousand suns, then nothingness. She was standing in a stretch of cosmic darkness, an essence of what resembled mist, in the form of serpents, swam around her. Lenn feared she was dreaming, hallucinating, or that she had ultimately separated from this world; none of which were true.

In lieu the appearance of a woman materialized from the essence who declared herself as Eris, the goddess of chaos, strife, and discord—Eleanor’s mother.

It was unfathomable; certainly, this was the transitional state of euphoria, which experts conjectured of taking effect because of an eventual discharge of the brain’s chemicals upon death. But an innermost faith knew this was real.

Eleanor declined to speak; her legs caved in, and she dropped to her knees. Divided by a translucent material, the same essence that moulded the woman gyrated underneath her in an unending pit of what appeared to be water (it was impossible to tell). Tears beclouded her vision, though they dared not flow. Her heart paced in her chest, and the excruciating thumping of her head reverberated in her skull.

Then she finally began to scream.

It was well known that Leia and her brother did not look alike, and their father made it very clear that they had separate mothers. Unfortunately, the poor man had no information to offer. Her father's silence frustrated her, yet she couldn't bring herself to say anything about it and eventually accepted it.

So in order to make up for lack of feeling she often exercises a reckless abandonment over her own life. However underneath the guarded and sour exterior, Neci holds a strong sense of honor, bravery, and mercy despite the misery and anger the erosion of her senses gives her. While she clearly doesn't approve of absolute bloodlust, Neci knows when to be diplomatic and only resorts to violence when needed.     Precognition - Although only useful when she sleeps, Neci's dreams tend to foresee possible futures and observe what may happen. However visions of these futures are subject to frequent shifting and are therefore more based in the probability of an event than its destiny.
Drawbacks
  • Daylight - Although not something she can directly manifest or contain, Neci is able to manipulate visible light and tends to use this power to her advantage by blinding opponents at opportune moments or causing distractions.
  • Mistletoe - Previously thought to be a genetic condition, Neci is deathly allergic to the plant and has avoided it like the plague her entire life. For reasons unknown to her, it acts as a kryptonite to her near invulnerability (it will cause her pain) and that fact alone pisses her off beyond measure.
  • Ranged weapons - While a proficient fighter, Neci's affinity for battle tends to fall short once projectile and ranged weapons are thrown into the mix. She can handle herself well enough in any other instance, but for some reason she just doesn't have the coordination needed to utilize bows, spears, guns, etc.

  • Hand to Hand Combat - A fighter since childhood, Neci grew up participating in jujitsu, judo, and tae kwon do. As her skills advanced, she took up boxing and wrestling in her teenage years. Lineage: Daughter of Bladur, Norse God of light, joy, purity, and the summer sun.
Vision: It was an ugly Saturday, cloudy and bitter, but the weather hadn't deterred her from going to the skate park. Neci had pulled roller blade street stunts for years, did every trick with the same ease as breathing, yet that day was different. A simple jump over a ramp ended in disaster after the visage of a strange man popped into her path. In a sabotaged attempt to stop, her body ended up vaulting down eight flights of steps and into the back of a parked car. When her vision solidified, a tall man was standing above her with the same radiance as the sun. "Better look next time." The man said, his baritone as soft as a lullaby, "It'll keep you from hitting fings."
Neci was so angry she wanted to hit him, but found she could not move. Her legs and one arm had been broken and upon watching her come to that realization, the man laughed.
And her vision turned to black.
When she woke again, in a hospital, sometime in the middle of the night the man was standing at her side. He introduced himself as her Father and spun a tale of her heritage that she wasn't sure she believed. She didn't, for a while, but over time she came to realize that nothing hurt. But it was beyond that, it was a numbness that covered her entire being. Tastes, sounds, touch, felt like they were at a distance all the time. As if she were trapped in an impenetrable bubble no one could see.
That was the moment she realized the man hadn't been lying. That there were things after her now: that she would be hunted.


Background: Born out of wedlock in the middle of a snow storm, Neci Hyeong's first few hours of life involved the last of her mother's. Ana Hyeong was twenty-three when she died due to childbirth complications, leaving her infant daughter in the care of her eldest brother: Nathan. Neci's Uncle, although not a bad man, had difficulty giving his niece the love and care any child deserves. So he sent her away, often to boarding schools or summer camps that would take her away from home for months at a time. As she grew older, Neci began to act out, test her limits, and was subsequently expelled half-way through her sophomore year of high school for 'deliberately starting fights and recklessly endangering herself as well as other students'. Shortly after a roller blading accident brought about by the activation of her divine half-blood blessed her with the 'curse' of being unable to feel. Doctors believed it to be a rare genetic disease, but Neci knew better. She had always felt different, like there was something about her that had never been normal and the words her supposed 'Father' spoke to her in a vision was the only confirmation she needed. Once the broken bones and abrasions she couldn't feel mended, she headed to the port her so called 'Father' had mentioned and embarked towards Mythos Academy.

  • Shikigami: In tradition, the power and size of a Shikigami was the test for an Onmoyji, the court diviner, to see how powerful they truly were. However, Mazoku has a tendency to change the shape and function of his each time he makes them, never settling on one type. As a basis, Shikigami or servants for Onmyoji, and come in many forms, the most basic being magic in paper, which is what Mazoku uses. He already had an aptitude in creating origami, and thus was halfway there. This ability allows Mazoku to summon spirits within paper and origami, and give them orders or functions. The more there are and bigger they get uses more focus and more energy from Mazoku, so he tends to create smaller ones, most of the time not even enlarging them from the initial vessel. In some future, he hopes to reach the level where he can summon ghosts and Yokai as Shikigami, but is focusing on the paper ones to start out with. Mazoku can also de-summon Shikigami with ease, but sees no other use for this except with himself.
    • Shikioji: A special type of Shikigami that Mazoku creates when in emotional peril, with similarities to that of an Oni, or ogre-based Yokai. Usually has minor interactions with a base element, and will not be easily swayed from it's usually hostile goal (though, once again, it will most likely be the size of a paper-back book).
    • Minor Bind: If Mazoku faces a weakened spirit or entity, he may be able to influence that spirit, and persuade it or force it into a Shikigami body, where he may focus his energy on trapping it there. Powerful entities cost quite a bit on his mental state to keep at bay, and must focus at all hours of the day, even when sleeping to hold something of average or higher power. Mazoky has only attempted this a few times, but is better against Yokai or vengeful Yurei than other spirits.
  • Transmutation: A basic spell of Abe no Seimei's, where Mazoku can turn one living material into another. However, for now, the item/creature must be living in some sense, and be the same size or general shape as it's resultant. A famous example is the ability to turn a box of oranges into a box of rats, though Mazoku has no control over these creatures or materials.
  • Divining: An Onmyoji's job was mainly as a diviner for the emperors court, and thus a major spell that Seimei wrote on. Mazoku has the ability to discern divinations in various mediums, like strange coincidences or, the main route, the position or the stars at night. These divinations are broad, usually, , like telling the weather, explaining the outcome of a days-long decision, or making a vague answer on whether or not Mazoku might pass a test or not.
  • Weather Manipulation: Not a major ability, but Mazoku can cause weather to get lighter or harder, including examples like making lightning have a higher chance of striking, making a flash flood warning into an average shower, etc.
    • Rain Illusions: A special spell that Seimei only used once, which Mazoku uses as a parlor trick when it rains. Mazoku can create illusions of grandiose detail when it rains with the drops sculpting to hit certain areas, creating the illusion of an item or creature. Mazoku's favorite of these is his Rain Dragon Technique, which is all in the name.
  • Astrological Knowledge: A basic part of his ancestry, Mazoku has knowledge of the stars, their meanings, or their messages, and connections when they are closer or farther apart.
  • Spiritual Resistance: Mazoku has been training his body and mind in the spiritual planes, and thus has a larger resistance to influence in this nature.
  • Ward Writings: With Seimei's blood, Mazoku can write traditional paper wards, sigils, talismans, or lucky charms, and has knowledge of other protective decorations from his family teachings that could possibly be of use.

Gifts
  • Seimei Amulet: a moderately sized amulet with the Seimei Star insignia on it, this being a pentagram star in a silver circle, with a Japanese Bellflower pattern engraved on the back. Acts as a reminder of Mazoku's legacy.
  • Hoki Naiden: The 'book of spells' written by Abe no Seimei. Is thick and full of possibilities, but takes and care to complete, with many taking ritual steps before one can do them on the fly. Mazoku hides it away as secretly as he can, since it's his families pride, and a direct connection to Seimei's influence. Written in Heian-era Japanese, and a bit difficult to understand, though Mazoku has his own notebook which he uses to take notes and add tips from himself to help improve on Seimei's methods as best he can without being disrespectful. While it is easier to read for Mazoku due to his bloodline, the book itself is not magical, and can be held and read by others.

BACKGROUND
Descendent of Abe no Seimei
Demigod/Legacy

Abe no Seimei is a what one would call a Scholar's Discussion. The reason behind this is simply, his divinity is a mortal question. Abe no Seimei, while holding immense wisdom and power, was mortal for all of his storied legends, and only became a deity much later in his life, though changing very little. With his new divine abilities, he only used one among his own mortal spells: longer life. Not immortality, mind you, but the chance to get a second chance after his first wife cheated on him with a rival court onmyoji, Douman. Thus, Mazoku is only the Great-Great-Great-Grandson of Abe no Seimei, despite the time difference between the two.

What makes Mazoku special, or at least how his father told him, is that despite being many generations down, he still had as much potential as anyone else in his family. It was their blood that gave them extranatural abilities, due to Abe no Seimei using magic before becoming a god.

It was the day after Mazoku's high school Graduation Ceremony. He had already been accepted into the university of his choice, when he was on a walk on the outskirts of the more rural areas of Kyoto. After getting lost in thought, he looked up to find himself deep within a forest without a path in or out, but instead of panicking, attempted to follow signs of life before reaching a clearing, where a sumptuous estate resided, appearing right out of a history film. Entering the main home, Mazoku was greeted by departed members of his family before him, and at the back of the room, Abe no Seimei himself.

Since then, he was forced to drop his earnings in the university of arts that he had been accepted into, and truly prepare for his new life. His parents revealed that facts of the matter: Mazoku was capable of magicks, spells and rituals used by Abe no Seimei when he was a man, written in an ancestral book that was now in his possession. He had not mastered everything, obviously, and still stuttered on quite a few gimmicks, but promised himself and his family to practice whenever he had the chance.

Mazoku has heard of the Demigod and Legacy rift, and is nervous due to the fact that he was put in the Magicae Dorm due to his richness in spells, and not the Legacy Dorm.

Seen with a hair tie around her wrist, Althea has the habit of tying her hair up whenever she is deep in thought or about to eat. It’s rare that her hair isn’t dark brown, but when it isn’t, the locks are kept a simple light blonde bleach. Her hair is soft and easy to run her fingers through, although with a few split ends. The product of several at-home haircuts, Althea’s hair is in much need of TLC.

. To say Althea is adaptable is an understatement; a clever girl with a knack to make do even with the sight of major inconvenience, the young woman is nowhere near rigid. With her walk throughout life, Althea did what she could with the little she had; a smile plastered on her cheeks, positive demeanors that would leave some with a piqued interest.

She is selfless or, at least, likes to convince herself that she is. There is one thing for certain: that she will put herself in harm's way for those she loves, her friends, family -- people whose emotional connections are strong. A strong personal bond is everything to her and she will live by that. However, under the sunny exterior is an inner war she cannot wait to get out of. She is afraid of the woman she could become: one that could be arrogant, destructive, and greedy just like her father. Everyday seems to be a question of what she can do to tuck away the self-destructive thoughts -- though she is yet to receive a proper answer.

Some could describe her as a homebody, a young woman who's hidden herself away for her own comfort -- distraught by her own oncoming waves of destruction. She is more like her father than she thought, and that there, was a feeling that left a pit in her stomach. Althea is in denial, though she may not show it. Her confusion, met with the treacherous thought of being a burden, leaves a heavy toll on her. That of which she tries to cope; this habit, however, has lead to an unfortunate addiction that she feels can never be taken away.

Above all else, Althea is on a journey of self-discovery -- self-understanding.

Born of calamity, the city of Naga flooded by high waters -- the moon shone, and within an instant, darkness. Ravaged already, as if by war, the city, too, sank.

Elsewhere in the city, as lights flicker, a woman births a child -- the daughter of the God, Bakunawa; she tells a tale of betrayal, defeat, lying on the tales of past glory. Of screams, births life, but at what cost? The new world is nothing one could imagine. “Tell me her name,” a voice bellows from above. Althea.

So as told, the child born of chaos and high water, was named Althea.

The daughter of the Moon Eater, creator of the eclipse, the cause of earthquakes, rains, and heavy winds, cursed into the form of a serpent due to his own arrogance and greed. Guardian of the Underworld, a serpent of the sea, feared — such as the destruction he’d brought unto the world.

Althea first reads of the old Filipino deities from books, those her grandmother kept around their altar; though the practice was far from her mother’s, a young Althea kept an eye on it. The idea of Deities from the pre-colonial times intrigued her, as did the rich culture that came from it. A fantasy, initially, but a notable one nonetheless. Pages hang from their spines, covers battered and ripped, yet she keeps them tucked away for safekeeping whenever her grandmother allowed it.

She also read about the moon, the waters, a vast land ripped away from her ancestors’ grasps.

Her mother died. At only 8, Althea was essentially on her own — aside from her grandmother: a woman, although fragile, fought onward. Strength is a recurring theme; some would call it foolish to carry on with the tiresome duty of raising a child, especially one prone to bad luck like Althea — Althea, however, found it brave, her grandmother was the strongest woman in her life. Someone she looked up to and relied on for most of her life. She can still hear her mother’s whimpers at night, accompanied by the sound of gulping water — sick, with no money to pay for hospital bills, she suffers.

Althea watched her deteriorate before her eyes, and from there she took further comfort in the stories of deities, once fiction turned reality. A young woman, strong and ambitious, worked hard so her grandmother did not have to, and yet the woman continued to insist.

Much like her mother, her grandmother had died as well. Loss, devastation, Althea couldn't escape it. What she was once shielded from followed her everywhere she went.






The Vision

Rain was heavy, as were the winds — her only source of light were candles, the region she lived in had been out of power for days now. Above her home, small and dingey, was the eclipse. In another life, Althea would have been afraid; the woman, however, was far from it. What sits before her is her grandmother, a practitioner of babaylan — the altar lit with candles.

A fragment of light no larger than an apple appears in front of her.

— brightness becomes all she can see. The moon, still consumed by darkness, lies above. She feels the cold winds against her body, dampness clinging onto her clothing — Althea is outside. With no reason, no thought, not a clue of how, she stands. What draws her is a voice, one plucking her head upward. Although not physically manifested, she can see him: her father, Bakunawa, a guardian of the Underworld, stands before her.

He glows, unlike the darkness surrounding them.

Are you watching, my child? Your light has been here all along, still flickering — like the heartbeat in your chest.

Althea is frozen, in shock — perhaps even fear. The deity she once read about, the monster that ate the moon, sentenced to life in the underworld by his own greed, was real. And he was beautiful, despite being only the glow stolen from the moonlight itself. She is hesitant, but accepts the information slowly — rerunning the words endlessly as he stood before her.

His time, however, is limited.

Bakunawa

Some would describe him as merciless, sadistic, and cruel; a God to the Bicolanos, but a demon feared by Visayans and Tagalog people. Turned into a sea serpent by Bathala due to his own actions, the consumption of the seven suns, Bakunawa is the current guardian of the Underworld.






Gift

The Kampilan; A 40 inch sword wielded by the most skilled warriors or people of high status. Carved into the hardwood hilt is an inscription, as well as the head of Bakunawa's serpent form at the end of it.






Powers, strengths, and weaknesses

Enhanced Strength and Athleticism; Althea, although she isn't strong looking, as a heightened advantage when it comes to strength. Much like the Bakunawa, her strength surpasses those of her peers, as does her fluidity. A young woman with increased flexibility, she almost moves serpentine. Skilled with the use of Kampilan, Althea's fighting style mainly surrounds its use -- her hand to hand combat rocky given her own clumsy nature (often tripping over her own feet.)

Her powers near mimic that of her father's, however, it is limited. Over use of these powers will result in a weakened body -- making her more susceptible to injury. (control over earthquakes, rain, heavy winds, and eclipse -- though the power to bring on the eclipse has yet to make an appearance purposefully.)

In touch with her spirituality and babaylan, Althea is a healer -- as well as a bringer of destruction. Once again, the overuse of healing will result in a weakened body; this often manifests in nosebleeds, tremors, seizures, the draining of her energy, and if done to such a degree, she will be out for days -- with no given amount of time when she will wake back up.

Unfortunately, like her father, Althea is drawn to bloodlust; often falling into a mindless rage when in severe distress during battle -- something she needs to control for the betterment of herself and others.
