"And yet you still stand beside him." Marlie said with an angry frown. They reached the house and Marlie opened the small wooden gate. She closed it and looked at Toby on the other side. "Forget that you walk me home, you wouldn't want to hurt your friendship." She said with a slight snarl and headed into the house, disappearing from his sight.

 

[Robin man]

Toby sighed and opened the gate. He walked up to the house and knocked on the door. I don't want her to be mad at me, I want her to have a actual friend finally. So this might mean a lot of change.

Marlie had run up to her room, feeling hurt. Again. So her mother opened the door. "Hello?" She smiled at the young guy before her. "Can I help you with something? Oh, are you here for Marlie?" She asked, happy that her daughter had finally made some kind of friend.

 

[Robin man]

Toby smiled softly and he nodded. "Yes I am, Toby Jones. And you must be her mother?" He asked, already having a idea on the answer.

 

[KneelingAngel]

"Yes I am." The woman smiled and let Toby in. "Her room is up the stairs and to the right. Marlie-Ann, I'm gonna go see your dad in the hospital! Have fun you two." She smiled and walked away.

 

[Robin man]

Toby raised a eyebrow as he walked upstairs. What happened to her father? He would have to ask later. He walked up to what he thought was her door and knocked.

Marlie sighed when there was a knock and opened it. "What? You want to bully me in my own house now too?"

 

[Robin man]

Toby shook his head calmly. "No, I just want to talk."

 

[KneelingAngel]

Marlie sighed and let Toby into her room. Her room was dark purple with a giant double bed with white sheets and a laptop on top, an egg chair hanging from the ceiling, a desk with writing and drawing gear and a bookcase filled with books and what not. Marlie sat down on the bed and looked at him. "What do you want to talk about?"

Toby sat in the egg chair and he looked around. "This is a nice room you have here." He shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe why Clay bullies you? He never told me about it."

 

[KneelingAngel]

"Thanks." Marlie mumbled. "Maybe because I'm a nerd and an easy target?"

Toby shrugged. "Believe me, there's been times when me and him have huge disgreements. Remember that time in eigth grade when I was gone for a few days? And he said my appendix had to be taken out?"

 

[KneelingAngel]

"Yeah, I remember that.. I think.. But if that wasn't true, what did you fight about?" She asked curiously. "You were like gone for a week." She gasped quickly and covered her mouth as a blush settled on her face. "N-Not that I really noticed or anything."

Toby smiled softly. "Thanks for pointing out the truth." He chuckled. "But we had a disscusion about bullying you. He punched me there over a dozen times. But I broke his nose and ribs. So he was gone for a month. Remember that as well?"

Marlie didn't know what to say to Toby. He had stood up for her then too? But why did he still hang with Clay? "Yeah, I remember that." She mumbled softly and hugged her pillow. "That was the month that I got pushed around by that Derek guy and some girls cut off my hair... But now you made me curious, why defend me? I'm nothing to you."

Toby shrugged. "I'm just a nice guy. Helping the helpless. And that Derek kid. That was someone that disbise, and he hates me just as much." He chuckled. "But that normally happens when you've been dating his girlfriend for a year."

Marlie kept her mouth and just looked at Toby. "You're weird." She finally concluded. "But thank you anyways, didn't know that I had a guardian angel walking around"

Toby smiled softly. "Well your welcome." He chuckled at the idea of being considered a guardian angel. He was no angel, thats for sure.

Marlie smiled at him. "You want to stay for dinner?" She asked suddenly. "My dad's in the hospital so I have to eat alone.. We're having pizza." She suggested shyly. Marlie didn't want to scare Toby away. She was the freak after all, so she would understand why.. But not eating alone once would be nice.

Toby chuckled. "I will, because your having pizza, my favorite food."

 

[KneelingAngel]

"Come on then." Marlie smiled and walked out of her room. She headed down the stairs and popped the pizzas in the oven her mother had already prepared. "Don't think that I'm a big eater, I just like pizza." She didn't want him to think that she was fat or anything. It could just make the bullying worse.

 

[Robin man]

Toby chuckled as he followed her. "I don't mind. Who can blame you? It's pizza, the best food ever made." He leaned against a counter once in the kitchen.

 

[KneelingAngel]

Marlie smiled at him and leaned against the wall on the opposite side of Toby. She didn't know what to say anymore. She wasn't used to having friends over, she didn't have any, she didn't even know if Toby was one, but she quested maybe just a bit.

Toby looked at her. "Do you have any Brisk ice tea?" He asked curiously. He doubted if she had any, but never hurts to ask.

"Um, yeah we do, actually." Marlie said, confused why he asked for it. She didn't like the drink. Marlie opened the fridge and handed him a can. "My dad drinks it a lot, Lipton sponsors him."
