Realistic or Modern The Beginning of the End

Scarlet says nothing but just gives a nod. "...we still need to finish our conversation Tom." She said as she made her way in after them and over to the step stool to stand on so she can fix the curtains before freezing a bit. "I Uh I don't know about that Carl..." She said slowly while looking at him.

Jenna sitting on Eric's bed with him. "Technically we already have a hang out place. The music store." She said while smiling a bit.

(@DrTrollinski, @DrCompton)

"It's okay... It'd be nice if you could have a sleepover, though. I need someone who knows how to tell bedtime stories." He giggled gently while looking up at Tom.

--

"Yeah, hardly a place for a date, though." He chuckled while looking at her.

Tom looked at Carl for a moment, then up at Scarlet, "Hey Carl? Go find Jenna and Eric, and tell them that Daddy is asking them to keep you entertain while I talk to Scarlet, okay?" Tom smiled at Carl and rustled his hair, "Its an important mission alright pal? No fail option!"

"You leave the finding part to me." He chuckled and lied down on his bed again, looking up at the ceiling. "I've never had my own double bed, you know. You know how weird it is to sleep alone in a double bed?" He asked, laughing again.

He was excited about his 'mission'. He nodded and hugged Tom and then hugged Scarlet. "Okay! I won't fail, but if I go, you're both not allowed to cry, 'cause we've gotta have a happy day now!" He hugged them both again and then zipped out of the room and over to Eric's bedroom; he shoved through the door and ran up to the bed and pounced onto Eric to knock him over and lie on top of him. "Eric! You and Jenna have gotta keep me entertained while mommy and daddy talk!" He yelled at them, grinning, he was so excited that he didn't realize what he'd said. (@Soul OMU)

Tom watch the young boy bound away, then walked over to Scarlet, "I think we'll have three minutes before they come eves dropping. Come on, lets talk." He looked Scarlet over and frowned a little.

Jenna blinked and froze when she figured out who he ment. "Oh... Uh a-alright..." She said while buying her lip a bit. "Let's play... Hide and seek okay?" She said while looking at him.

Scarlet fiddles with her sleeves lightly as she glances at Tom a bit before leaning over and kissing his cheek lightly. "...your right... I might not be happy again... So i should grab it when I can..." (@DrTrollinski, @DrCompton)

(Try and get this to a stand-still point. I need to skip ahead so that everyone can get back into the rp again. Keep in mind that some things may be skipped, events that you may have wanted to rp, but we'll really feel the consequences if I don't move this on soon. Soul, I remember that you said in a previous segment of the rp that Jenna's birthday was in November or September, so if that's something you want to rp I recommend we stick to that.)

Tom smiles, "I knew endlessly pestering you about this would eventualy work out in my favor." He took her hand and squeezed it lightly, "So do you and Jenna wanna move in here, or keep your own house? We've got an extra room you two can have, thats if Jenna and Eric dont become permanent sleping buddies."

Scarlet rolls her eyes slightly as she holds his hand. "I think we're going to keep the other house because I am not letting that happen yet, I'm too young to be a grandma."

(Well look who hasn't been getting notifs. Been wondering why I didn't)

(I'll give you guys an hour or so to brush this up. (@Soul OMU) Honestly, this skip can't wait any longer - it's going to have to be one time-skip and then another one pretty close after. This way everyone will have something to do - I left it way longer than I should have and I predicted to have this done a lot sooner, but things never go as planned when it's me in charge of it xD )

(Yeah, I'll work on it now - Keep in mind that it's going to go forward by about a month - I know this is a lot, but we need another one that goes on for longer after that, so instead of throwing you into the action I decided that we'd work our way in with a halfway point)

1 Month Later

May 10th

The first month at the town was full of events for the survivors that lived there. They had more people arriving to their community - some of which were merely lone wanderers who had lost everything - those guys got given apartments - and others were whole families. They had three new families, one being one with a single mother with one son that was Carl and Caitlyn's age, and another family that had one teenage son of the age of thirteen. Their daughter died at the start of all of this. Alex also made advancements with everyone to get a fence put up around some sort of perimeter around the town - the first thing they started with was the gates, which had a level to rotate to open the gates up - it was definitely a plausible idea, and it helped keep things at bay when they needed to - they had a gate at every exit/entrance to the town by the end of the month, as well as a small amount of fencing beside each one - over the next couple of months they could easily get that done.

The families eventually got settled in and contributed dearly towards the community that they had started up. One of the lone wanderers (there was only three of in total that arrived) was a man who worked in the police department, but also had a natural taste for bass guitar and drums, so obviously he and Eric got on quite well. Other than that, the people did their part and helped out, but didn't get majorly involved with everyone else. The farmer still had no trouble supporting everyone with food - looking to the North side of the town, everyone could see the farm land that he owned - it was lined by a barbed wire fence to keep out the undead, and the fields were covered in cows, sheep, a few horses, and free-range chickens. They occasionally heard shots from the farmer's rifle during the night, obviously either slaughtering an animal, scaring off foxes, or killing a walker. No one had bothered to visit this old farmer, thus far. (Scroll down for individual RP, guys. Same goes for any survivors/groups that aren't with the group in the town. SOME OF YOU ARE TAGGED IN NUMEROUS SECTIONS, SO BE SURE THAT YOU READ EVERYTHING YOU'RE TAGGED IN! @Soul OMU, @october_rain, @DryPunishment)

(@Soul OMU, @DrCompton - I know, it's a wall of text. I didn't realize how much I'd written until it was done xD )

Over the course of the month, Eric was busy planning for a date with Jenna. Whenever she asked about it, he just said he was waiting 'until the time was right' - of course, he'd been doing some very careful planning to make sure it was a night to remember. Also, during the month, after the initial flip-out incident with Tom, he realized how much Scarlet actually meant to him - he knew Tom wasn't stupid enough to bring another child into this world, especially after what happened with his daughter at the start of all of this. The may have been safe within the town, but that didn't mean everything on the outside was gone as well. He could see how desperate Carl was for Scarlet to move in with them as well - the kid needed a mother, and on the day when he naturally called Scarlet 'mommy', he knew that he was going to have to be the one to make a move here. They were at an impasse. Jenna was neutral on the situation and didn't really give a yes or no to any of it, Scarlet was reluctant and didn't like all of the pressure that was put onto her about it, Tom continued to try and convince her to move in, and Carl always urged how they could be 'a real family' - when he saw how uncomfortable Scarlet looked when all of this was brought up, he knew he needed a different approach. One night he sat Carl down and spoke to him, telling him just to take it easy on Scarlet and just treat her as someone who was part of the family, but not someone who needed to live with them (that was the best way he could explain it to Carl) - of course there were some tears from Carl after that, but Eric told him not to worry, because he knew that eventually things would sort themselves out.

Eric made the effort from day one to make sure they didn't have a repeat of what happened before. He kept up regular contact with Tom and continuously (but discreetly) spoke to him for a while just to make sure that he was doing alright, even if it was over a bottle of beer on the couch together. Tom had done a lot for Eric and Carl, and Eric wanted to do this to at least pay back the kindness he'd given to them. Plus, it meant that Tom and Eric could get a little bit more bonding time.

Tom wasn't the only person he spoke to, of course; he went to speak to Scarlet on several occasions to make sure she was doing alright as well. He knew how bad she was on the day of the incident, so he made sure that he kept the pressured 'move in with us now' sort of things off of her back and tried to talk everyone into just letting her stay next door in her own home until she was ready to do something else - He knew he'd benefit from going next door and speaking to her anyway, because with that he got to know her as well, which meant that they got closer. Eric also encouraged involvement between the two 'families' so they could naturally get closer to each other without forcing it upon themselves. You know, simple stuff like trips to the park or eating dinner together - stuff that would help them stay on friendly and enjoyable grounds without putting too much strain on their lives. He didn't know if Tom and Scarlet had noticed the effort he'd been putting in to make sure they were both happy, but he knew that he'd helped himself big time, and even if Tom and Scarlet didn't thank him for what he'd done, he'd be happy with himself to know that things were going well with everyone.

**

It was early morning today, eight o'clock, and Eric was up and ready for a new day. He didn't know when the day would come when Scarlet and Jenna moved in with them, but he knew he'd be comfortable with it, and hopefully after all the events, everyone else in the household would have realized that continuously going on about it wasn't going to help anyone advance anywhere. Even if they didn't move in, he wouldn't mind all that much, because they still had quite a lot of interaction and time together as it was.

Eric hopped out of bed and stretched - the sun was beaming in through a crack in his curtains and he felt fresh and alive. It was nice in here, and he'd found out, due to the power being on in the town, that the TV in his room and the computer all worked if he booted them up, which was awesome. He didn't use them that much, because he was busy around the town not only planning his first date. Which was going to be tonight - but was also helping construct the gates, and also got involved on helping people that arrived get settled in. He walked out of his bedroom and checked in on Tom and Carl, who were still sound asleep for the time-being - people here were allowed to get used to the habits of sleeping in now that they were in a safe place. Eric went to the bathroom and used the toilet, then took a quick hot shower and got dressed in some casual clothes. He went downstairs to get himself some breakfast - the farmer had provided them with muesli - it wasn't the best, but it had a sweet taste due to the fruit, and the farmer provided fresh milk to people as well, so breakfast often went down as a treat. Eric sat at the table and slowly ate - he was in no rush this morning.

It had been a month since the condom broke. A whole month and neither of them were none the wiser. Alex and Hunter were lied in bed together, like they were every night, at eight o'clock in the morning, still fast asleep and dreaming happy dreams of what life was becoming for everyone at the community here. But when was Hunter going to start noticing the signs? It could be any minute now, and when it happened, I think they were both in for a scare. It might have just been a stomach bug, right?

During the month, Alex had gathered up Skyler, Adelaide, Hunter, and a newcomer - a muscly Mexican builder by the name of Jose - and made sure that they had their little social gatherings whenever they had the chance. You know, they'd sit down for some drinks or have a meal together, just so they felt less left out or lonely. God knew that Jose was one of the most lonely people there, and I think he appreciated it more than anyone. Regardless, Alex wanted to make more friends, and he thought it'd be nice for Hunter to get out there and socialize with some of the other girls that were here. He wanted her to have friends, as well, because even he knew that spending too much time with him could get boring at times.

Caitlyn's fifth Birthday was a complete success. Chef baked a nice big birthday cake with pink frosting and fresh cream and homemade strawberry jam in the center. Alex went around the day before her birthday and made sure everyone was aware of it - she was showered with gifts on her birthday and I'm pretty sure everyone gave it their best to make it a birthday that she could enjoy. It started off with Alex getting her up early to get her bathed and dressed up, then it went to opening the gifts that he and Hunter had got for her - following that it was pancakes for breakfast, a big party that went on during the day, the birthday cake, and then the presents from everyone else. Alex felt good that Caitlyn had the chance to enjoy herself on her big day - he knew that if they were at the mall, they wouldn't have even came close to having something as spectacular as that.

The small group had gone up to North Dakota and were camping up in a forest up there with all of their military surplus gear - during the month they'd made numerous runs back to towns to loot other surplus stores, as well as to get canned goods and bottled water, just in case there was ever an inconsistency of resources up by where they were staying - they were camping up by a stream that had fresh water running - they didn't know if there were any other survivors camped out up here, but they hadn't seen anyone thus far.

They had three three man tents there - they were durable and undamaged, and they were newly picked up. They'd forgotten to grab any more tents, and currently, they'd settled on sharing tents. Dominic and Daniel had a tent to themselves, Conner did as well, but Kendrick and James were forced to be tent-buddies and they had to share. There was plenty of room, and over the month, Dominic, Daniel, and Kendrick had become more trusting with James than they were before, so all was well. Daniel asked Conner to take him out hunting this morning, so he was hoping that he would wake him up early today and take him out, because over the month he'd asked Conner to teach him how to make and use a bow so that they didn't make too much noise while they were hunting. The wild game was rich up here.

Two more months. Two more long and painful months of waiting, and then finally the baby would hopefully be born on time without any complications - Brad had been going around and wearing himself away over the month to make sure their little cabin was well-defended. He went into town and got everything he needed to make sure that the house got fortified enough - he also got some building tools and a truck full of a logs. He'd been working on making an extra room at the back of the house that only had small windows, and was double-covered by logs so that it wasn't only safe, but warm as well - he didn't want the baby at risk during the nights, to both the creatures they saw and the cold when it came around to it - even now, the mountainous forests got cold at night, so he wanted to be prepared. He wasn't necessarily in bad health, he'd just been tiring himself out to make sure that everything was going to be alright for when the baby arrived.

Brad stood by the window of the bedroom at eight o'clock in the morning. The dog was safe and was now sleeping on a rug on the floor at the foot of their bed, and the bedroom had had some extra touches to make it more warm. You know, fur blankets, nicer pillows, an extra pane added to the windows. That sort of stuff. The only problem was that Brad had seen smoke rising up from the forest in the distance over the past month - whoever was there had never reached the cabin, nor had they ever bothered them. Brad and Delaney hadn't made the effort to go and see who it was, either, but Brad was certainly considering it.

With a sigh Brad leaned against the frame of the window - he didn't know when Delaney was going to be waking up, but he assumed that it was going to be soon. He was standing there in his underwear and vest top, so the cold of the early Spring morning was getting to him a bit, but it was nothing he couldn't brave off.

Their car broke down in Indiana. In the small town of Mitchell. This was hell. It was on the second day into their journey that that had happened, and they were no better off for it. The cars that were around all seemed to be fried, either that, or everyone had ripped them to pieces to get parts to repair their own. For now, they had to reside in a small home in a Cul De Sac on the edge of town. Mark really wanted to make a move - but Cole was okay, and that was all that really mattered to him right now, although he couldn't deny that he'd gotten closer to Maria and Johnathan as the time went on.

It was eight o'clock in the morning and Mark was up early after Cole woke up screaming. The baby had grown a fair amount over one month, but they always made sure that the infant had enough to eat before they worried about anyone else. Well, Mark did, at least - he got the baby out of his crib and then set him down on the table in his room that he used for changing diapers and preparing milk; he gently hummed a lullaby to the baby while he changed his diaper and got him all cleaned up - once that was done, he prepared a bottle of formula and walked downstairs to the living room to sit down on the couch - he'd hoped he hadn't woken the other two up, but he probably had done just that.

(@Rifleman - Let me know whenever you're back and we'll discuss some stuff regarding our characters. I haven't forgotten about you, but you seem to know far more about the military than I do, so I'd like to go through some things with you before I write out the time-skip stuff on our side of things)

(#KillMe - that took me way longer than I predicted.)

"Alex...what's a perspective? It sounds like a big and interesting word...."

She tugged his shirt and had a drawing in her hand. Ever since they had their own house she'd pester Alex and Hunter to help her get better at reading.

@DrTrollinski

Alex was still asleep when she came in and tugged on his shirt - he slowly opened up his eyes and looked at her, yawning. ".. Morning, big girl..." He smiled softly at her and gently stroked her hair. ".. Perspective?" He said, looking at her while keeping his head set on the pillow. ".. Well--.. It means two things - Perspective can be like a... a Three-dimensional drawing on a piece of paper, or it can be someone's opinion on something..." He smiled gently at her. "Why do you ask?" He questioned quietly. (@DryPunishment)

Jenna definitely had noticed what Eric had been doing and was quite grateful for his efforts in helping making her aunt feel more comfortable and giving her time to figure out what she wanted. Either way Jenna was happy no matter what choice Scarlet made since she had gotten a lot closer with Carl and thought of him as a little brother kind of.

Scarlet slowly started to wake that morning and yawned softly while stretching as she slowly got out of bed and downstairs to start making breakfast for her and Jenna since usually Tom and the Boys would ask before coming over the night before. She was glad they had started to back off and give her time to think about the big decision of moving in with them. "Jenna! Breakfast!" She called while the young girl slowly woke and made her way down. "Coming."

Hunter was currently still sleeping when she heard Caitlyn and Alex talking and felt a wave of sickness hit her and she quickly bolted to the bathroom before throwing up her stomach contents. (@DrTrollinski, @DrCompton)

She's been trying to read Matty's journal.

"Matty wrote it in his journal when he was talking about things. I've been drawing his...erm...drawings and he used it once."

He also had been explaining a few things about muscle locations and some other things.

@DrTrollinski

(Is it ok that I RP James as having gotten a silenced rifle? Seeing as Connor would never teach him how to make / use a bow, plus he'd never used one before, he'd need an alternative)
