Luness ended her combatant's life with a swift bite to the jugular and looked up in time to see a basilisk turning their enemy to stone nearby.

Blinking at this, Luness quickly looked away, as she could only hope that her fellow werebeasts wouldn't look at the beast. There was no way for her to warn them now in the midst of battle, which pissed her off, as she was more than ready to face off against the basilisk herself if the beast felled any of the werebeasts. Accident or not.

Hearing someone rapidly approaching her from behind, Luness turned on all fours and snarled at the soldier just in time to see him become frozen along with the others closest to him.

Blinking at this, Luness took a step back and then glanced around her, but couldn't see Kallin nearby. She could only guess that he had done so, though.

Before she got to think too much more, a war cry was heard behind her and Luness dove to the side just in time as a sword came slicing through the air, cutting off the ends of her fur that was closest to the man. If she hadn't dodged the attack, she would've been severely injured already.

Snarling, Luness rushed the man before he even had a chance to pull his sword out of the ground. With a short leap, Luness tackled him down and the two began wrestling about, as the man threw up an arm defensively only for Luness to clamp down on it and jerk it from side to side, trying to injure the man's arm enough that she could get to his weak points.

The man cried out in pain and suddenly a second soldier appeared at Luness' side, but she was slammed to the ground by Falarion, as he appeared in the thicket of fighting, a wild grin on his face.

With a swift kick to the soldier's head with his metal foot, Falarion laughed when the man's head snapped to the side and his arm went limp in Luness' mouth.

Annoyed with the lack of a fight now, Luness let go of the man's arm and wiped her bloodied muzzle against her armor before standing up on her hind legs and nodding at Falarion. Her silent thanks.

Just then, a screech was sounded from above and Luness' right ear flickered about, as she felt like she recognized the sound. Why would she recognize a screech, though?

Her question was quickly answered, as Luness looked up into the sky just in time to see Nyr ram into one of the wyverns, attacking it and then causing it to plummet to its death just beyond the battlefield.

With a roar from Falarion and a yowl from Luness, the pair charged back into the fray, as they both simultaneously clashed with two soldiers, side by side and with their battle claws as opposed to tackling and mauling their opponents. After all, the fighting wouldn't nearly be as much fun if they fought the same way every time.

While Falarion used more brute force to break his enemy's arm and then slam him to the ground, Luness relied more on her agility, as she dodged the sword slashing at her while dealing a few swift attacks of her own. She'd eventually wear down her opponent this way and then strike her own killing blow.

Alas, with the two so heavily preoccupied, neither noticed the galloping horse rapidly approaching them with an enemy rider brandishing a deadly spear.

While Falarion dove down on top of his enemy to better kill them, Luness dodged sideways just in time for the enemy soldier to not pierce her with his spear, but for him to slash at her side, giving her a new wound to lick, as blood began to stain the side of her leather armor.

With an angered snarl and a paw to her side, Luness staggered backwards while Falarion sensed something was wrong and leaped to his paws in defense of his Alpha. While Falarion tackled the rider from his horse, another werebeast came out from the midst of the fighting, a werefox, who promptly tore at the downed soldier nearby so that Luness could have time to recover.

With a startling and deep roar, Falarion called to nearby werebeasts to help defend their Alpha while she came back to her sense.

Stumbling to a knee briefly, Luness caught her breath and then glanced up to see a startling scene before her. Werebeasts of varying species had rushed to her aid almost immediately and now Luness was in a small circle of safety while werebeasts fought soldiers all around her.

Suak had very little control over who she petrified: if a creature met her gaze typically that would be it. She was certain, even if it had been on accident, she had petrified soldiers from both armies; she was just hoping she had petrified more of the lion-man's enemies than his allies. She could feel irises changing colour from yellow to green, an unstoppable, encroaching change that severely weakened her capacity to fight. Her eyes rested on a group of seven before the final transition occurred, and as she watched them turn to stone, she inwardly sighed, now having to get close to her enemies to inflict any damage upon them.

Her attention turned for a moment to a pack of werebeasts. It was only a slight glance, and she wouldn't have petrified any of them, watching them as they began circling what Suak could only assume was their alpha. Suak had always been a fan of first impressions: she hoped she hadn't petrified any of their pack.

The basilisk heard a scream for a couple of seconds that abruptly ended as a soldier fell to the ground next to her. She turned her attention skyward, watching as wyverns swept to the ground, gathering up humans and beasts alike and dropping them from great heights to their eventual demise. A thunderous roar reached Suak's ears and a loud thump emanated from only a couple of metres to her left. Quickly, she turned to face the new threat bellowing at her as a challenge. Silently, the serpent cursed: her irises were no longer yellow, this fight would be without her petrification. The basilisk had done this sort of dance before, it was something she didn't exactly relish, but she had little choice in the matter this time.

The wyvern bellowed again and Suak responded to the challenge, letting out a noise that was somewhere between a snarl and a hiss. The two reptiles circled each other, studying each other for a mistake in their movement. Timed seemed to slow down around the two creatures. The world seemed to go silent for a moment as the wyvern and the basilisk locked eyes with each other, and, as if a switch had been flipped, the pair launched forwards at each other. As the two crashed into each other, Suak felt the wyvern's claws rake into her sides as she snapped at the creature's front right shoulder. Her head snapped back, recoiling after she felt her fangs dig into the other reptile's flesh for a moment. Suak almost relished the familiar taste of blood in her mouth, ever so slightly tainted with the venom now coating her fangs.

The wyvern's mouth snapped forwards, missing Suak by mere centimetres, exposing its neck. Taking the opportunity, the basilisk darted forward, snapping down on the side of the wyvern's neck. Talons again plunged into what would have been her chest, forcing her to let go of the creature's neck and recoil. She distanced herself, and the two creatures began circling each other again. Blood began to flow out of her from her wounds, slowly. Thankfully, she thought, her venom was quickly taking effect as the wyvern started limping and while it desperately flapped its wings, it could not take off from the ground. Suak took the advantage, quickly darting forwards, wrapping around the wyvern's midrift, biting down on the back of her quarrel's neck. She tensed the muscles in her body, causing the creature to roar in pain as she felt the bones begin to crack and break. It took less than ten seconds for the winged beast to fall still, and Suak uncoiled herself from the creature.

Slowly, the basilisk backed away. Pausing for a moment, she studied the body. Before she had the chance to check her wounds, the rest of the world seemed to suddenly fall back into place. Lowering her body, she barreled into the advancing infantry, eager to carry on fighting. With what would have been a grin on her face, she found a small group isolated enemy soldiers, at least, that's what she thought they were. Snaking forwards, she quickly encircled the group, trapping them and holding them in place like a constrictor with its prey. She had a tight grip on them initially, and slowly she tightened it further, denying the soldiers air. It wouldn't take long for them to suffocate.

Quincy's sensitive ears picked up a familiar voice, and she slowed for long enough to safely locate it. Leia! The kewpie gave a piercing whinny, lifting her front hooves from the ground momentarily. As she watched, Leia turned and looked at something..

Takeo, being knocked to the ground. Forgetting about her plan to join the werebeasts, Quincy changed direction and went to their sides. Takeo would need a mount in this battle.

The kelpie had to dodge a few wayward spells, careful to not end up a part of the frozen-body blockade. Her blood was racing; battle was just as exhilarating as flying.

She snorted, avoiding that thought like the plague. She reached Leia and Takeo, now joined by Nyr in her rescue of Bob.

Nyr! You are a sight for sore eyes, dear friend, Quincy projected, giving the Raven a nod. As are your comrades.

As Bob was placed securely back on the ground, she gave him a little sympathetic attention, snuffling at his rock body and nickering softly.

Then, she looked at Takeo. Well, are you up for a little more fighting? You are in need of a mount, and I promise not to drown you, Quincy projected, making sure to not worm her way too far into his mind.

Leia's mouth was still hanging open when Nyr landed with Bob safely tucked in her arms. She didn't take Bob back immediately but threw her arms around Ny'r neck and hugged her tightly. "You're back!" She cried happily, before scooping the now tiny spirit up in her arms and cradling him on his back affectionately. Bob grunted with pleasure and cuddled into Leia's armour.

"Thank you...so much."

Above them Leia watched as Nyr's people tore down the wyverns with ease.

Suddenly a horn blew on the other side of the field...it wasn't theirs. The enemy was in retreat and Leia gave a whoop of joy. "We got 'em on the run!"

Kallin caught sight of them in the distance, he had seen Nyr's awesome catch of Leia's little earth spirit and glided over on a wave of ice.

"That was some fancy flying." He told Nyr happily. He watched the soldiers withdraw and then his glowing eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"That seemed hardly worth the effort....unless.."

"Dude," Leia said. "I hate when you trail off like that."

Kallin gave her a sideways glance. "Unless they have a trick up their sleeve."

As if on cue a line of dark-clad figures stepped in front of the fleeing ground forces. They began to chant in a strange and ancient language and suddenly a thick, black mist began to creep around the ally troops, fencing them in.

"I don't like this..." Kallin said slowly. He watched as in one corner the mist came in contact with a soldier who was not fast enough to get out of its path. The soldier fell, writhing on the grass and Kallin and Leia looked on in horror as the poor man was transformed...into a pig!

"Pull back...NOW!" Kallin yelled sending up the flare for retreat, and as Leia gathered Bob tightly to her chest and began to run, Kallin made a beeline for Luness.

"Lune! We need to leave! That's a transfiguration mist, and unless you want to end up with trotters and a curly tail, we can't let it touch us!"

The werebeasts continued to clash all around Luness, the varying sounds of their bestial war cries ringing through the air.

Shakily and with blood sticking to her paw from her side wound, Luness stood back up on her hind legs just in time to hear the horn ring through the air, sounding for a retreat.

Slowly, the werebeasts around her relaxed, while a couple raced after the retreating soldiers in the excitement of the battle.

Almost immediately, Luness could feel something in the air and she cried after the ambitious werebeasts, "Stop! Do not chase after the retreating soldiers!"

Falarion tensed nearby and suddenly was on all fours, racing after the overly ambitious werebeasts. While one or two slowed to a halt, a couple continued regardless of Luness' commands and it was all Falarion could to snatch up a werefox with his mouth before halting in time to see the advancing, chanting soldiers. The mist enveloped the soldiers and danced out after the nearest werebeasts, who all were scrambling to turn around now at the sight. Seconds later, a soldier was transmogrified and Luness let out a caterwaul to signal a retreat to all the werebeasts.

Falarion made a break for it, sprinting on all fours back to Luness' side, the terrified werefox shaking in his grip, tail tucked underneath his limp body.

Snarling stubbornly at Falarion when he made a move to help Luness, she shook her head and then said, "Don't worry about me, Lieutenant! Help my soldiers! Tell them to get a move on!"

With a curt nod, Falarion briefly put down the fox to let out a ear-piercing roar to back up Luness' caterwaul before he scooped up the fox in his mouth once more and began sprinting alongside varying animals in the stampede to avoid the approaching mist.

Turning on her heels, Luness was about to make a break for it herself when she suddenly heard someone cry out to her.

"Wait! Someone, help!"

Turning around, Luness' eyes widened when she saw the werecoyote from before scrambling towards her while the mist followed her on her heels.

Folding her right ear against her head, as she feared for the worst, Luness then shouted at the coyote, "Faster! Come on, this way!"

Sighting Luness, the werecoyote began sprinting even faster, as the mist continued to race after her.

Refusing to leave anyone behind, Luness stood her ground where she was with her bloodied paw against her injured side, the mist rapidly approaching her, as the werecoyote did the same.

Luness could hear Kallin shouting at her in the background, but Luness simply pressed her ear closer to her head, though she couldn't block the sound from entering her left ear, as she resolutely remained where she was.

For the moments after Leia hugged her and Quincy greeted her Nyr smiled warmly, returning the gesture to the human girl. It was a bit strange to see Leia in full armor but this was a war after all - she herself would never have thought to wear such heavy plate mail herself... unfortunately in this case she needed to do it. <span style="color:#8000ff;">" I am so relieved to see you again, my friends. I wish, however, that we could have met in less... dire circumstances. "</span> She said walking over to Quincy and Takeo. <span style="color:#8000ff;">" You two would surely be an unstoppable force, but be vigilant. The enemy seems to be much more focused than the last time. Their assault is rather vicious. It is only a matter of time before- "</span> She spotted Kallin and smiled at the dark mage. Somehow she felt a big relief that the mage was all right and his magic... contained. She still wished to talk to him and catch his words of discussing the dark side of magic but she realized that it had to wait. Listening to his idea her eyes narrowed and Nyr readied her wings. Moments later when the horn was sounded and the massive wall began to move she lifted in the air. <span style="color:#8000ff;">" Running might not be fast enough... " </span>she mused. She knew that Quincy was fast as the wind but she could only carry one person. With a quick idea in her mind she reached out for one of the dread ravens. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" Valdimar, can you hear me? "</em></span> One of the dark forms above shifted as it vanquished his aerial foe, staring towards where Nyr was standing. <span style="color:#b30059;"><em>" What is your wish, Prelate? "</em></span> <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" You see that wall? " </em></span>she asked <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" You know well what that is, we have seen similar atrocities before. "</em></span> Valdimar nodded. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" I need you to alert the others and sound the retreat. We need to get out of here as much as possible. I want you to gather as many wounded or impaired soldiers as possible and rescue them. I shall meet you wherever the safe zone of the camp is. "</em></span> Valdimar hesitated for a moment. <span style="color:#b30059;"><em>" These... humans... Do they know we mean no harm? "</em></span> Nyr's eyes narrowed. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" That is none of your concern right now. They should be fine. Do as I commanded, and fast. "</em></span> Valdimar once more nodded and began to screech, alerting the other ravens and sounded the retreat. Nyr turned now into her massive raven form and began flying after her friends. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" I can fly us out of here hopefully. "</em></span> she projected her thoughts to Leia, Quincy and Takeo <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" If you climb on my back I will make sure you will get out of here in safety. I already ordered the others, they will be trying to rescue soldiers. But if we want to flee we need to do it - and now. The cries of the battlefield around him faded away under Leo's concerntration. The Ozite forces where performing well, what little training he had put them through paying off. It was not without its casualties, as all wars are. Leo tried to keep an eye on th ebattle field the best he could for the others, but the tides of battle crashed down on him keeping his mind in the here and now. He could risk fighting with his senses open to the battlefield, but would run the risk of being surprised by arieal attacks.

As he brought his ax down upon the shoulder of an obsidian shoulder when a icy wind swept past him and he watched as walls of ice took the field of battle and created tunnels for the attacks.

"Focus your attacks on the openings."

No sooner had the words left his mouth did a screatch erupt overhead causing Leo's attention to jerk upwards. He watch helplessly as Bob was carried off into the sky byt a wyvern. Before it got to far, something swooped in, something that made Leo smile and pump his fist as he watched the Wyvern fall to the ground with Bob safely back on the ground.

He took a few steps forward, wanting to go and say something to Nyr and the gratitude of her return, but the sound of a horn stopped him in his tracks. He turned back, to see a fine black mist growing from the swamps. His eye wide, Leo lifted his axe back towards the camp.

"BACK! EVeryone fall back! Don't let it touch you!!"

Leo watched as the Ozite units not fast enough tripped and fell over themselves until the myst consumed them and turned them to squeeling swine. Leo gritted his teeth and hurried the troops along unaware of the inky black tendril cutting through the troups. Leo turned to leave after hte last of the troops only to be stopped by the black mist changing a few troups into pigs and encirlcling Leo. He gripped his Ax with both hands and planted his feet, watching the mist get closing in.

The swift to everything was hard to keep up with, the clattering of swords the hell for help and the cheers when the help finally came made it hard to get what was going on. But Takeo was fully aware of everything that was happening, he just couldn't react to it as the pain of his likely cracked rib was beginning to dwell on him. Unable to help Bob out when the time called for it luck was on their side when the ever so timely Nyr helped the spirit out. Takeo didn't have much time to thank Nyr or anything like that but he was able to give her a smile and a nod. He had to get ready to charge back into the fray, horseless sadly due to the loss of his own steed.

However even that problem was soon gone when Quincy ran up to him and offered him a ride which was honestly shocking. He was curious what it would be like but never did he think the offer would happen for him. "You are fi-" Just before he could confirm permission for the ride his attention was snatched when the chanting of the soldiers reached his ears. "What the? Is that a defeat song??" He asked in confusion before his body tensed as he saw the mist approach them. Unsure what it was he still had half a mind to attack the enemy if it meant they would shut up. However that idea was gone the moment he witnessed the first guard get turned into a swine. "Oh... That's not good..." He said as he backed up a bit.

Taking a horn made from a tusk of a creature he put it too his lips. And with that blew into it letting out a loud sound that could be heard quite some distance. After a second the sound was heard again but not from his but from another a distance away. He had used this horn to single his scouts to retreat and hopefully the would bring anyone they could with them. Now looking at Quincy he gave her a light grin. "I'm still up for that ride if you are offering?" However before she could respond Nyr's words reached his mind and he looked at the huge dread raven. "I think..... It would be best if you take Leia and Bob with you. Quincy and I can handle this by land after all I doubt anyone can out run here." Takeo stated in a even voice however there was a small nervous tone in it.

He was fully serious about no longer liking the idea of flying ever since his fight with the Rok. Even if the person was friendly as Nyr was he still couldn't' bring himself to willing go who knows how high in the air! Especially if other flying creatures could attack them! What if he fell? He would have to worry about a lot more than just a cracked rib depending on the height. And as much as he hated to admit it this fear was something he didn't think he could easily ignore. He looked at Quincy and waited for her response, one they would need soon seeing as mist was approaching fast.

Suak stopped, watching the enemy start to retreat. She started relaxing, releasing her last quarries of the battle and slithering away. Glancing around her, she started slithering slowly back towards the allied encampment. Maybe she would be able to make formal introductions to the creature that had tried to recruit the animals of the forest and better pledge herself to the that were leading this resistance. Perhaps it would be better, she thought, to meet them in a less intimidating form: she'd change to her human form once she was off of the battlefield.

It started with what she thought at first was her simply recovering from the adrenaline that had been pumping around her veins; a slight mumble in the back of her head. She stopped, turning her head back, watching as as she noticed that as the main body of the enemy forces were retreating, some soldiers were still advancing. A black mist started to appear, tendrils of it searching forwards, grabbing at several of the allied troops who were giving chase to retreating forces. Instincts kicked in, having sensed some kind of magic, and Suak started retreating. Instead of running straight for the encampment, the basilisk started running parallel to it. She could out run it, she realized, there was no doubt about that, but she was sure many of the now routing friendly forces would mistake her for a creature pitted against them if she started charging back to the encampment.

Many werebeasts crossed her path on their scramble back to safety: regrettably, at least one of their brethren had been turned to stone by an accidental glance in Suak's direction. She wouldn't let this bother her, however; she'd gotten pretty desensitized to it over the years and she was sure many other allies she have been turned to stone by mistake. She saw two werebeasts, stranded out in the battlefield as the mist started approaching them. Suak wouldn't be of any help to any of the soldiers who were lagging behind; she'd either terrify them, be mistaken for an enemy or even if they did accept her help, she wasn't sure how should would help them escape.

As soon as the basilisk reached the treeline, she turned, now moving up the side of the edge of the forest, perpendicular to the encampment. She checked behind her, noticing that the mist had stopped following her. She transformed into a young woman with auburn, medium-length hair and pale skin. Her eyes, the same emerald green as in her
true form, were slowly transitioning to a sparkling sapphire. The process was quick, thanks to the wizard so long ago, and the spell meant that she would be wearing clothes even after transforming. Suak stood, pulling up a black hood on her cloak.

Kallin cursed as Luness remained stubbornly where she was. He ran in towards them, conjuring up a mighty gust of wind and setting it upon the offending fog, pushing i back just as it reached the heels of the coyote.

"Move it! Now!"

Another wind spell would speed them on their way, while the remainder of it would fight the mist. To his surprise though, instead of being beaten back the second time the mist went up and over his spell, threatening to come down upon them like a dark wave.

"Wait, fly?" Leia held her heart constrict. She looked back at the mist, for one instant considering what life would be like as a pig. But Bob was too weak to carry her right now...it was the only way.

"All right." She said as her other three spirits gathered about her. Spark and Tad could fly, being volatile elements, and Lee jumped onto her shoulders gingerly, ready to be carried with her. "You two be careful." She told Qunicy and Takeo, "Please don't come back as bacon."

She looked skeptically at the ravens offering a lift. "Just...not so high up, ok?"

She looked back at the battlefield, there were quite a few pigs now, rolling in their armour or fleeing desperately for the camp.

"Man I sure hope Kallin comes soon, he might be the only one who knows how to change them back."

It was then she spotted Leo, a little ways off being surrounded by the dark mist.

"Leo! We have to help him!"

With the aid of Kallin's wind spell, the werecoyote finally ran up to Luness just as she turned on her heels and dropped on all fours despite the injury to her side. Running away from this mist was a more prevailing concern at the moment.

Sprinting after the werecoyote, Luness quickly realized that Kallin was going to have a problem running alongside her and the werecoyote.

Snarling in frustration at this, Luness yowled an animalistic command at the werecoyote, who despite her almost being transmogrified moments ago, turned around and then began sprinting behind Kallin.

Instead of telling him what was going on, though, the werecoyote simply put her head down to the ground and then sprinted right up to Kallin until she bumped into him and forced him to fall onto her back.

"Hold on, mage!"

With a burst of speed, the werecoyote caught up with Luness and the two began sprinting towards the camp, which wasn't too far away now despite the mist that seemed to be following them every step of the way. In fact, the mist was now about to crash back into the land, though it probably wouldn't make a sound when it did so.

Nyr heard the anxiety gathering in Leia's words and she could understand that. Preparing her mighty wings to take flight she looked at the girl again, her voice booming in her head as she did so. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" Do not worry, Leia. "</em></span> she assured her firmly <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" I will make sure no harm will come to you or your spirits. I will be careful too... just try to have a firm grip in any case. "</em></span> She looked at Takeo and Quincy and nodded. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" As you wish. I pray to Mother Moon that your journey will be a safe one. "</em></span> With that she took flight, gently flying across the battlefield, carefully paying attention to Leia and her adorable spirits. All round them she saw Valdimar and the others swooping down to grab as many soldiers as possible. The lucky ones were actually riding on the back of the avian beasts... while some here stuck between their massive claws. Somehow Nyr felt that she owed an explanation to the soldiers after this though she did admire Valdimar's resourcefulness. After all she did not specify what kind of transportation they must provide. She was roused from her thoughts as Leia exclaimed. Turning her head towards the battle her eyes widened as she saw Leo retreating with the the forces, his armies succumbing to the spell one by one. With her heart pounding faster the dread raven hastened her pace - whilst still paying attention that Leia was safe. Normally she would have unleashed a gust of wind to fight back the wall but she could not do it with passengers. Desperately she called out to one of the other ravens. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" Rathia! We need of your skills. " </em></span> One of the smaller ravens raised her head and after putting the soldiers down she immediately hurried to where prelate was. Immediately noticing what was going on and realizing who was in danger she swooped in, the wind seemingly bending to her own will as she did it. Immediately after Rathia began to flap with her massive wings, her eyes glowing in some sort of whiter light as the gale, violent winds rose up, fighting the wall with all their might. Though to a halt she could not bring it the wall did slow down enough for them to act for the moment. <span style="color:#00b359;"><em>" I will buy you time, Prelate! "</em></span> she boomed, holding up the spell <span style="color:#00b359;"><em>" Get our allies out of here. "</em></span> Nyr nodded as she descended next to Leo, staring at her with a worried face. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" Beloved... Leo stood his ground watching as the black mist swirled and ebed around him like dark churning water. His grip tightened on the shaft of his ax waiting for the mist to make a move. Out of the corner of his eye he could see over the flattened dark field of battle to a shape he could just make out as Luness and Kallin. He was to far to help, and he had his own mist to stave off.

As if an answer to a prayer he felt the sudden rush of wind of wings beating and could see a young Raven pushing the mist back, allowing for another Raven to land before him. Leo smiled and he detached his axe's and through them into the holders by his hip.

"I must agree with you my dear, this was not quite what I had exspected either."

He let the words trail through the bond to Nyr that he had missed so very much as he made his way over to her and Leia. Saddling himself behind Leia he couldn't help but chuckle a bit as he placed a paw on her shoulder.

"It would seem Takeo was correct, here you are coming to my rescue."

Once they were airborne and away from the mist, Leo watched as the circle he had been standing on was engulfed. He followed the flow of the mist and found the dark clad figures behind it. They needed to do something about those figures. It was at that moment Leo heard the shouts and cheers coming from what remained of his emerald soldiers far below. He followed their shouts of approval to the three massive golden ships floating towards the battlefield. Ballistas primed and ready for fire, Leo tapped Nyr on the shoulder and pointed towards the lead ship.

"My love, if you would be so kind as to drop me on that ship, I would be most obliged."

With a yell of surprise Kallin was dumped haphazardly onto a furry back. He tried his best to find a hold and barely managed, likely pulling a little too hard on the fur about her shoulder. The wave crashed behind them, splashing mist in every direction. The coyote reached Luness with Kallin by some miracle still hanging on, but the mist was approaching fast, almost as if it sensed the lifeforms fleeing from it.

Kallin hurriedly sent up another flare, it flashed green then blue twice and finally red. A coded message that would tell the enchanters which spell to cast.

It was then Kallin realized that with his weight the coyote wouldn't be able to run at her fastest, they would all be caught.

"Lune! Do me a favor...go find Grenwin!" With that he let go, summoning a burst of wind to blow Luness and her soldier forward.

Kallin was blown back with the force and vanished in the blink of an eye under the wave of roiling fog.

Leia shut her eyes as soon as she had a death grip on Nyr's slick, black feathers. Bob was curled between her arms and he looked just as uncomfortable.

When Nyr landed to help Leo Leia gave him a nervous wave. Grateful when he climbed up behind her. One more thing to keep her from falling off.

"Sure, good, airships...and then can we go back to the camp? Please?" Bob grunted his agreement.

@zCrookedz @DawnAntalios

Not long after a wave of light began to emanate from the lines of soldiers. The witches and wizards of the allies, dotted amongst the forces were all casting the same spell and it glittered like a sunlit wave to crash upon the dark mist and start to push it back. Not even Leia could keep from looking at the wondrous spectacle that now dominated the battlefield.

The sun was past its zenith and was already halfway down to his bed on the horizon. How long had the battle lasted? It felt like no time since they were standing before the enemy forces...but in actual fact the fighting has taken much longer.

The first thing Kallin felt when he woke was pain. He had landed badly on his shoulder and it throbbed. Slowly he pulled himself up, only to find his arm was much shorter than the sleeve it was wearing.

Right...damn.

As the mist was slowly chased away by the dispel enchantment Kallin began to see more of himself, a smaller, stubbier body wrapped up in his old traveling robes. One large ear flopped over his small eyes and he grunted in irritation, his snout twitching.

His form was solid, which was an oddity for daytime, but he could still feel the chaos magic churning inside his body. He stood on all fours and looked around the battlefield as it became visible. Kallin, a turned into a short, black pig.

As Luness was injured, she couldn't run her full speed, but even then, the werecoyote was beginning to fall behind her with Kallin on her back on top of the adrenaline that was probably going to fade soon. The werecoyote was young and so she was wearing down quickly in this battle.

Just as Luness was going to suggest Kallin ride her instead, despite her injury, Kallin instead made a call of his own.

Hearing Kallin tell her to find Grenwin, Luness immediately knew what he was about to do and turned to snarl at him, "Kal, don't!"

Yet, she was too late and all Luness could do was brace herself, as a gust of wind struck her and the werecoyote, sending them both tumbling heads over paws until they came to a halt just before the mist was pushed back by the witches and wizards of FableWood.

Scrambling onto her hind legs so she could better see, Luness almost immediately grimaced and moved her bloodied paw back to her side, as she then scanned the field for Kallin.

As it were, Luness soon realized that Kallin stood out like a sore thumb among the other...pigs.

Blinking, Luness struggled to keep a straight face, as she left the werecoyote to catch her breath and soon paused only a few feet away from Kallin...who was now a black pig.

The corner of her mouth kept twitching, as Luness let out a small, pained cough, but found herself at a loss for words when trying to come up with something to say to Kallin.

Instead, she burst out in laughter, with some pained coughing in between, until she found herself kneeling down on one knee to try and catch her breath.

Kallin was a pig.

Nodding gleefully upon seeing Leo intact and safe they ascended from the ground safely. Nyr nodded to Rathia, silently thanking for her aid as they soared through the battlefield once more. The sight of clashing waves of light made for quite an enigmatic picture, it was literally a battle between light and darkness now. She only hoped that their other allies were fine... especially the ones close to the massive wall. Hearing Leo's request Nyr nodded and contacted her passengers. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" Worry not Leia, I will not make daring manouvers for your safety. "</em></span> her thoughts transmitted to them as the airship was right in front of them. Just as she thought that she was home free she heard two massive wings flapping behind her. A rather gigantic wyvern began to following them but once again the raven felt powerless to fight with others she needed to defend. Reaching out for the remaining comrades the reptilian creature was soon met with a daring raven blasting in its chest. This one was a feisty one and was quite eager to tackle his much larger opponent. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>"Gnuutar should handle the beast easily. " </em></span>Nyr's thoughts boomed as they finally reached the ship, allowing Leo to dismount. Still lingering close Nyr turned to them once more. <span style="color:#8000ff;"><em>" I trust you will be able to finish them off, my love. When I draw my blade, it is with the promise of blood. When I part my maw, it is to reduce flesh to ash. In the wake of my fury, the enemy is evanescent. I swear by their viscera that the fields shall bloom scarlet.

~~~
'To think some relish in this... the
cacophony of battle,' Kalevi mused grimly, yanking his sword from beneath the obsidian helm of an enemy warrior and shoving the dying man backwards. His sword sang shrilly as it scraped against metal, coated thickly in icky blood that spurted from a ruptured jowl. '... disastrous.’
He stood from his twitching victim with distaste, flinging crimson droplets from his blade onto the trodden earth. Before him stretched and sounded the flourish of combat; the roars of warriors as they brought blade upon armour and suffered sword through flesh, the ferocious shrieks of creatures that bore both tooth and whittling claw, the blare of war-horns that filled the air with unnerving promise, the unending, vociferous clatter of metal and boot. He saw little appeal in this, but it was necessary. Fretfully necessary, for as Caraboss' forces advanced, FableWood was but a step nearer to possible calamity. Kalevi would do all to obstruct this, even if it meant risking his well-being and taking lives accordingly.
Drawing himself into a guarded posture and lifting his tainted weapon once more, the wyvern, currently in human form, made to cross swords with several more of the opposition. He ground out his skirmishes fiercely, until he could practically feel the adrenaline surging through his veins just as the flames he produced licked at the grass beneath crumpled foes. Those wounds he sustained in his plight were not enough to fell him, but they were a painful reminder of an augmented need to be cautious in his approach. In a scenario like this, Kale would have much preferred attacking from the skies, searing the enemy forces with thick plumes of fire and driving the barb of his tail unto iniquitous hearts. But the skies were already a blue-grey canvas marred by a descending flock of enemy wyvern... to assume his true form at this time, whilst the good people of FableWood were quick to brandish their weapons against any winged two-legged reptilian, was begging for trouble.
As so, Kalevi took solely to melee combat... or he did for a short while, until strange sorcerers had gathered upon enemy frontlines, pale lips quivering and voices an augural hum that ascended above the clamour of battle. Kale halted in his advance to assess what was coming for them; very swiftly he noticed the thick churning mists that swallowed the ground in between armies, advancing upon his allies at a rapid pace. He watched in partial awe as those unfortunate to be consumed by the shadowy fog morphed into hirsute swine entrapped within leather armour, squealing and tumbling confusedly upon the ground whilst a vast number of soldiers-turned-pigs joined them. Witnessing the flare to retreat, he immediately began to back away, horses, beasts and soldiers desperate to escape the mist bypassing him in their immense fear. However so, Kale withheld little hope in his ability to avoid the ghastly spell by foot; his immediate thought was to do what he'd been so resistant towards doing- to take to the sky. Cursing under his breath, the male scanned the area for an open space upon which to transform- an extremely difficult find whilst so close to the heart of battle. However so, he quickly determined this to be unneeded...
Auburn eyes settled on a platoon of enemy warriors who advanced ominously before them, just ahead of the atramentous mist. Spitting aside of him and readying his resolve, Kale sheathed his weapon and threw his shield to the ground, weaving about fleeing soldiers and darting for the small group head-on, as quickly as he could whilst bearing his war-armour. Soon enough the platoon noted his approach, perhaps surprised by his weaponless advance but raising their swords to meet him all the same. But they did not receive him, not the way they envisioned they would. A mere five metres from charging unto them, Kalevi heaved forward with a savage roar, enthusing himself with the magic that warped him into the beast he truly was. His form elongated in an instant, his skin bubbling into a prickly grey mass of scales whilst giant amber wings spilled into the air behind him. Thrusting vicious foreclaws into the torsos of those soldiers at the forefront of the platoon, Kalevi practically plowed through the shocked warriors, rearing backwards only to whip them across the helms with his newly formed tail. One warrior managed to avoid the most of the barrage, driving his blade into the tough hide of the wyvern's back with an enraged shout, but in an instant Kale had whipped his head around and snapped vicious jaws over the shoulder of the soldier, tasting metal and ripping it free as he flung the man in the direction he'd came, straight into the roiling mists.
It was a vatic reminder that the dark tide was indeed too close for comfort, and Kalevi was made aware that he could not waste another second on these deluded men else he be consumed by it. Unleashing a brutal shriek, the wyvern twisted his body in vector of the allied camps, beating his leathery wings heavily and shoving himself away from the disoriented warriors as he struggled to ascend. It was a dangerous area from which to depart, but taking advantage of reduced combat whilst the dark miasma enveloped the battlefield, Kale managed to lift himself somewhat higher until he had the opportunity to dart above the tumultuous battlefields and further away.
Kalevi soared over the army, trying to keep furthest away from those that bore arrows. His greatest fear was being misjudged as an enemy wyvern... In seeing one of the very sort dive to swoop upon the helpless soldiers below, Kalevi was quick to intercept its flight, screeching as he barreled into the crimson-scaled creature. In a midair tussle, Kale managed to rake his talons against his opponent's underside, just as his enraged foe snapped for his throat. Kicking away, Kalevi inhaled, nostrils flaring as he glared upon the scarlet beast. It darted aggressively for him, talons outstretched, but it reached him a tad too late; Kale threw his head forward and from his maw, doused the malicious creature in a bluster of searing flames, causing it to scream and flounder.
'Pathetic breed,' Kalevi thought in disdain, closing his jowls and watching pitilessly as the sensitive lining of his opponent's wings caught alight, its frantic flapping only feeding the fire. The beast was clearly not of his variety, the kind that generated flame to their advantage and resisted it just as well. It proved to be the bellowing reptile's downfall as it made a hasty retreat, desperately seeking ground on which to nurse its burns. Huffing with exhaustion, Kalevi turned from the creature and quickly found himself requiring equal rest; flight had become laborious, inhibited by his wounds and time spent in the air. To find safe ground, however...
A frustrated grumble arose in his chest, the charcoal beast twisting in the air numerous times before swooping towards the far left of the battlefield, searching for a place to land relatively near to the army. He doubted his hiatus from battle would last long; the enemy had not yet showed signs of retreat, and with the strident chorus of war resounding in his ears, the temptation to return to the fray was sure to be great.
From high up, Leo surveyed the battlefield with growing optimism. The mages had begun pushing back against the fog, the dazzling light cutting through it like shers to a thick cloth. Leo smirked as they pulled close to the first of the floating ships and he dismounted upon their landing. He turned to help Leia down, then turned and smiled to Nyr as he brushed her beautiful black feathers.
Indeed, thank you for saving me once again.
He let the thought travel to her with a smile. The moment was short lived however as a small man dressed in yellow leather armor came walking over quickly to him.
"General! The Ballistas are primed and ready to fire!"
Leo nodded to the little man and headed for the bow of the ship with the little man in toe. As he reached the port bow, Leo surveyed the battlefield, the Ravens and the were beasts had done a fantastic number on the enemy air forces, but what little stragglers were left would not stand much of a chance against the large ballistas.
"Have the Gale and the Henry aim for the Wyverns...."
As he mentioned the Wyverns, Leo noticed something odd among the battle. A single Wyvern was attacking it s comrades with ferocity. His brow furrowed, he pointed out across the bow towards the wyvern before continuing.
"...but do not fire on the scarlet wyvern. I do not know for sure, but I think that is one of ours."
The little man in gold peered over the edge of the boat and noted the wyvern before turning back to Leo.
"And, what of the Ruby sir?"
Leo smiled and pointed towards the edge of the mist, where the dark figures of the chanters could be seen.
"We need to eliminate those who have turned our soldiers to swine."
The little man in gold nodded and quickly ran across the deck towards the wheel where he picked up a pair of flags and began signalling to the other two ships.
Leo watched as the ballistas began to fire upon enemy wyverns, taking only a few short moments between firing thanks to The Wizards ingenious machinery. Finally the Ruby's ballista was turned towards the chanting figures below, and began to open fire on them.
Quincy gave a worried nicker, pracing sideways as the mist began rolling toward them. Her equine instincts screamed at her to run, now, but she held herself next to Takeo. When he spoke, she bobbed her head up and down in a nod.
Lets go little one, she told him, and went down on her front knees to allow him easier mounting onto her bare back. Her only tack was the enchanted bridle. Once he was on, he would find her hide slightly sticky, as if covered in half-dried glue. It wasnt as bad as it used to be, but it was still noticable.
Once he was safely aboard, Quincy scrambled to her feet and followed the other creatures making a mad dash away from the mist. She passed many of them, and whinnied loudly to encourage them to run faster and keep pace with her.
She only stopped when she saw the light from their own sorcerors. She slowed and turned to look behund them, shocked by the number if pigs running about.
Leia still had her eyes closed, clinging onto Nyr's feathers. "Bob should be find once we get back to the ground...About that ground..."
Leia chanced a peek through her fingers and saw the gold mist begin to dissipate.
As Oz'masterwork weaponry began to open fire upon the casters they fell in number, not expecting such a rapid retaliation.
Many retreated, most did not make it far. For now Caraboss' first attack was driven back.
Leia, despite still being in the air let herself relax a little. It was not a large scale attack, Leia knew the sorceress was testing them, likely, the next attack would be more thought-out.
She noticed a unique wyvern combing the battlefield and hounding their enemy. Inwardly she hoped the troops would she thinking clearly enough not to attack him. When things were a little calmer she thought she would like to meet him...but...ground first.
Kallin said nothing...because he couldn't. The spell had stolen his voice too so he could only squeal and grunt. He rolled his small eyes as Luness dissolved into peels of laughter, his large ears flapping at the sides of his face. Suddenly he felt less sorry that she was hurt. Waddling up to her, doing his best not to trip on his own clothes he traced a message into the trampled ground: "Not one word."
After that he collected his oak staff by the tip in his rubbery mouth and proceeded to march, snout up back to the camp.
They needed to find Grenwin, Kallin doubted his magical abilities would be present in the form of a pig and the old Branbern wizard would be the only one who might be able to reverse the magic. Less practically he wondered how many of his friends would see him like this...and if he would ever live it down...
He met the healers just heading out as the camp came into view on the plateau. many had already returned, herding pigs of all shapes and sizes, poor warriors that had found the same fate Kallin had. One could almost tell the type of creatures they had been: the fauns were pigs of small stature and had slightly more hairy hindquarters than front. The dwarves were the smallest pigs, shaggy all over and bright ginger or deep brown.
Kallin kept an eye out for Grenwin, knowing that if he had arrived from Branbern, he may have already been summoned. If not, he would be at the war council tent.
Suak watched the rest of the skirmish unfold from the relative safety of the treeline, her eyes studying her future allies. As her serpentine eyes scanned the rest of the battlefield, she counted about nine dozen stone statues among the pigs and bodies. Even from afar she could tell that some of them wore the symbols of Oz and some others were werebeasts, but, to her credit, she estimated only ten of the statues were from her allies. She observed that the mists were receding, taking in the impressive barrage from the airships as they launched projectile after projectile into what had previously been a long line of chanting and somewhat confident sorcerers. The wyverns began to retreat, and as the basilisk set her gaze skyward, she noticed one of them had turned on its own siblings. A smirk danced across her lips; even the draconic creatures were rallying to the cause of Fablewood's humanoids. Maybe this war would be short-lived.
Carefully, and perhaps all too slowly, Suak stepped out onto the remnants of the battlefield; she hadn't turned a humanoid to stone since she had met the wizard that had granted her this human form: curiousity compelled her to at least inspect one of them. Thirty seconds passed before she reached the closest one: a warrior, the insignia they had worn completely now covered by mud and dirt, making it difficult to identify whose side they had been on. His features seemed to be one of a determined nature, his stance aggressive, as if he had been turned to stone while charging towards her. That did little to help Suak's assessment, causing her to frown, annoyed. The warrior was a fine specimen though, as were some of the other creatures that had been petrified. She glanced around, noticing the Fablewood forces were pulling back to their battle camp. Suak headed in the same direction, hoping to catch up to a commander and properly introduce herself.
An anomaly caught her eyes and she bee-lined for it, noticing one of the werebeasts coughing and wounded and... laughing? Possibly delirious, Suak realized. Perhaps she could help escort her back to a medic. Clumsily, she walked towards the creature. When she was only a few feet away, she bowed her head, opening her mouth to speak. She stopped, noticing the black pig. A ghost of a smile crossed the basilisk's lips before her attention turned back to the werecreature. As she went to speak again, she caught herself, glancing out at two of the statues. Letting out a sigh, she finally spoke, "Perhaps you would like some assistance heading back to safety, werebeast. I could help you find a doctor if you would like."
Luness finally regathered herself in time to see Kallin grumpily flapping his ears about.
Grinning, Luness paused when she saw Kallin writing something out in the dirt. Reading the message, Luness smirked and simply shrugged in response.
Watching Kallin somewhat proudly march his way back to camp with his staff in his snout, Luness fell into another bout of giggles before she saw movement out of the corner of her eyes.
Luness' laughter died off, as her expression became more neutral with a slight frown present, which was normal for Luness.
Warily eyeing the woman approaching her, Luness watched the woman bow to her, only to see her gaze fall to Kallin briefly. It seemed the woman shared Luness' humor in this situation.
Moments later, the woman's gaze then moved to some petrified statues nearby. It wasn't until Luness looked more closely at them that her eyes widened. One of the statues was a werejaguar!
Narrowing her eyes at this and listening to the woman speak, Luness then shifted her gaze to the woman and said, "Do you know who petrified the werebeasts under my command? I was never told we had a basilisk on our side. I never was able to warn my subordinates about this!"
Scowling at the mention of aid, Luness replied, "I need no help. I can stand and walk just fine. I'll find a medic on my own."
Waiting for a response from this woman, Luness knew she needed to find Grenwin, whoever that was, since it was the last thing Kallin had shouted at her before he'd fallen into the mist. They had to be someone of utmost importance for him to say that last.
Nyr screeched triumphantly as she watched Leo's precise machines blasting their enemies with full force. It was a glorious - albeit a bit violent - sight to behold but at this point Nyr only cared about her allies to be escorted into safety. The number of squealing pigs were relatively low which made her to be relieved but she knew some were needed to be reverted into their original forms. But first...
" Give them what they deserve, beloved. We shall meet on the solid ground again. " she mused as she turned earthward.
The dread raven descended carefully from the skies, paying attention so that Leia and her spirits would be safe on her back. Slowly and steadily she made her way towards the camp, signaling the last of her kin to retreat and come back as soon as they could. Though obedient the somewhat juvenile raven allies were still fending off the remaining forces, reveling in the battle - their thirst not yet being as tempered as Nyr's self control.
She finally touched ground and allowed Lei to dismount with her spirits in tow. When they were off from her back the massive raven finally reverted back to her humanoid form, taking a deep breath - and almost immediately losing her balance, falling on her behind.
" Ugh... Well, I guess we did it. " Nyr chuckled as she clutched her head. The exhaustion from the journey and this heavy armor taxed her more than she was used to it. But she still managed to smile on everyone around her " It seems the battle is won... and we taught another lesson to Caraboss not to mess with us. "
Suak took a step away, pulling down the hood of her cloak. She raised her head, but didn't look the werebeast in the eye, trying hard not to aggrevate the werebeast any more than was absolutely necessary. Realizing now that this creature was some sort of leader, Suak's stance relaxed, though her eyes kept watch for any sudden sign of aggression. The creature's anger was justifiable, Suak wouldn't deny that, but she desperately wanted to avoid getting into a fight that she could so easily avoid.
A mental battle raged in the basilisk's head, debating whether to admit to her mistake or not. This wasn't her fault; it was an accident. And she was sure she had contributed more positively to the Fablewood side than to that of their enemies. That being said, this wasn't just an ordinary person, and Suak hadn't conversed with a humanoid in years.
The basilisk sighed; werecreatures had heightened senses, meaning that eventually the creature in front of her would find out that Suak was responsible for what had happened to one of her subordinates. Eventually, she forced herself to meet the creatures gaze. Her voice was flooded with sincerity and sympathy as she spoke, slowly and quietly, "I-I would be that creature. And I must interject before you snap to any decision that I didn't mean for this to happen: this is war."
She didn't want to address the other issues the werebeast brought up; she had spoken with the half-lion man just after the battle had begun. Not wanting to get him into trouble as well, she stopped herself form continuing any more.
Luness slightly tilted her head to the side when the woman took a step back and pulled down her hood. Clearly, Luness had struck a nerve somehow.
Her anger shown through, though, as Luness quickly became irritated again while the woman remained silent a bit longer. Why wasn't she speaking or responding? Unless...
Just as it clicked in Luness' head, the woman sighed and then finally looked Luness in the eyes just as she proclaimed that she was the creature, the basilisk, who had caused the petrifications.
Despite the woman's tone, Luness snarled at her and took a threatening step towards the woman.
"This is war? That's the best you can come up with? Why wasn't I informed of your position on our team? If I had warned those under my command, perhaps they wouldn't have been caught in your crossfire to begin with!"
Quickly realizing that lashing out would get her no where right now, Luness hissed at the woman and then turned on her heels, angrily limping away since her side injury had broken open due to her angered moment. Her already bloodied hand from the fighting moved to her side once more, fresh blood beginning to cover the dried blood. All of the blood was sticking to her fur and matting it up, only further irritating Luness.
Fuming with anger, Luness stalked through the line of soldiers, ignoring all of the werebeasts while she made a beeline, as best as she could with her injury, for the camp. All Luness wanted to do right now was get away from that woman and find Kallin again. Especially before the woman might try to follow her and say something else. Luness wasn't sure if she'd be able to restrain herself if the woman was persistent.
