The Barbie Girl and the Nerd.

Forest Dragon Slayer

The Samurai of the Forest
"Looks like I got all of the groceries needed today." Eugene said to himself as he began walking home. It was a Sunday evening and his mother had asked him to go grocery shopping at the store about 10 minutes away by walking. On his way back he heard a noise from a nearby alleyway. Eugene decided to investigate and when he did, he saw a boy who Eugene remembered as a freshman at his school being beaten up by some gang members. He just couldn't stand seeing it any longer and to make sure he wouldn't be recognized, he took off his glasses which were frosted meaning that he didn't need them in the first place, into his pocket and charged in, performing a Judo throw on the first opponent he saw. "I'd suggest you stop right now." He said to the gang members.

"What's with you, trying to be the hero?" One of them said in response with a laugh.

"Why don't you try me?" Eugene replied with a smirk as he got into a martial arts stance, ready to fight them.

Lucy waved at her friend but her eyes were trained on her nails. They were newly manicured and she was enjoying how it looked. She grinned and walked forward in her four inch heels. (I'm just randomly putting a number :\ Is that high enough?) Amber, her friend, had her older sister back at her home for a break from college. She was an amazing nail artist and that was why Amber had called Lucy to visit her. Their houses were only three minutes apart so Lucy hadn't brought her car.

Halfway to her house, she heard noises and grunts. Out of curiosity, she turned the corner and looked into an alleyway. She gasped subconsciously when she saw two people fighting. Both had bruised eyes and small cuts here and there. Her eyes darted to the men surrounding them. They were already looking at her. One man was even advancing toward her with a smirk in place.

It was obviously some sort of a gang fight. She didn't know that gangsters still existed.

"I sure as hell didn't see anything", she told them, laughing nervously and slowly walking backwards. "Wonder if I'm going blind. I'll just go from here and maybe to a doctor."

She turned to go but a hand landed on her shoulder, stopping her. Fear coursed through her veins as the man gruffly asked,"Where do you think you're going, girl?"

"And what do you think you're doing?" Eugene said to the person who had laid his hand on the newcomer girl. He recognized her to be one of the most popular girls in school. He kept his head lowered so that his face couldn't be seen very well as he did a judo throw on the gang member making him go airborne and crash into another one of them. The remaining two charged at Eugene with knives in hand. In response, he pulled out a ruler and hit the knives out of their hands before striking their chins with his free palm. "Let's get out of here, there's no advantage to staying here." Eugene said keeping his face mostly hidden from view before beginning to leave the alleyway. "Are you two okay?" He asked the student he had been protecting in the first place as well as the girl who came in later.

"Yes, for the most part. Thank you for helping me. I'll be going home now." The boy said before walking away.

"I should get going as well, take care on your way back home." Eugene said to Lucy before leaving as well.

"Ofcourse, he took me out on a date after that!", Lucy talked animatedly to Amber. "In fact, I suspect that he set all the gangster-looking guys up just so he could act like he saved me and ask me out, but who am I to complain? He looked hot!"

Yes, she was straight out lying but her friend didn't need to know that. She felt satisfied after seeing a hint of jealousy in Amber's eyes.

Reality was a whole lot different. The guy who fought the gangsters didn't even show his face to her. His hair and build triggered some part of a memory in her mind but she couldn't guess who he was.

"So you like going out with total strangers that you've just met? I didn't know you were that type of girl." Eugene said a slight teasing tone as he walked up to the two girls. His glasses were back on, giving him his normal appearance. The bruises from yesterday were already practically gone therefore leaving almost no evidence that he was there yesterday. "Anyway, Mrs. Norris wants to see you about the last Math test. From what I saw, you did pretty bad."

Lucy scowled at him. "Who are you anyways?",she asked scornfully. "And it's not my fault that maths is difficult! Right, Am?"

Amber hurriedly nodded along, afraid to disagree. "Ofcourse!"

"I'm one of your classmates Eugene Reed or do you not have the memory capacity for anything other than make up and gossip?" Eugene replied. "And it doesn't hurt to study a little you know. Anyway, you shouldn't keep Mrs. Norris waiting, even you should know how scary she can be when she's kept waiting."

Without her noticing, Eugene followed suit. It wasn't to stalk her, he had his reason which would soon be explained by the teacher. "There you are Lucy, I'd like to discuss with you your current grades in my class." Mrs. Norris said when Lucy entered the room. "To be frank, you're not doing very well and if you don't improve, you may have to go to summer school and if you don't improve then, you're going to have to retake the class. This class is a graduation requirement you know so you need to pass it. Because of this, I've decided to get you a peer tutor."

"Well sorry if I'm not the hot guy you were mentioning earlier." Eugene said in response. "I'm not too thrilled with this arrangement either."

"As I said before, you need to pass this class and Eugene here will be able to help you in that regard." Mrs. Norris said to Lucy. "You are to meet him in the library for tutoring after school starting tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? But tomorrow I have a hairstyling appoint-", Lucy paused when Mrs. Norris stared at her and quickly changed her words,"I mean, it's completely fine with me!"

With a wide grin at Mrs. Norris, she turned to face her new tutor. "Hey, T, kindly inform me what books I'll have to bring tomorrow", she said to him with a tight lipped smile.

It was after the two of them left Mrs. Norris's classroom that Eugene answered her. "You do remember we only have one math textbook right? Or do you need help for every other subject as well?" Eugene replied in a bit of a teasing tone. "And at the very least, you can lose the facade you have on in front of me. I already know you dislike me and I frankly don't care so much."

OOC: Sorry, got sick the past two days. fever of 102 F

"Facade? What facade?", Lucy asked, scoffing. "The hate you see on my face is the hate that I feel for you from inside. So, no, I'm not putting up any facade here. And I'm only taking help from you because Mrs. Norris told me to, and I'm sure, even someone as stupid as you can understand what it's like to face her wrath."

She winced at the multiple memories she had with Mrs. Norris. None of them were remotedly good.

(It's fine :D Are you well now?)
