Easily distracted and very tired
The Academy is an institute of learning and study. In recent history people with magical powers have surfaced, referred to henceforth as ‘Powered’, always between 14 and 25, always the same pattern: a surge of power at realisation which then dies down and is fairly unpredictable without guidance, always met with Academy workers with three days of realisation. The Academy is a haven for these people to gain control over their powers and in many cases continue formal education without endangering others. Powered people will be housed at the Academy free of charge and are free to leave the grounds, however, identification is required to leave and if away from Academy grounds, safety and security is not guaranteed. Concessions can be made for those in employment, however this is a case-by-case consideration and many powered find it easier to find new employment that can be done remotely than commute or control their powers in a high-stress work environment; there are many resources available to help Powered make the correct choice for their individual needs. The only repayment required of the Powered is to take part in some minor tests and assessments designed and carried out by highly trained scientists from a wide variety of fields, in order for humanity as a whole to understand the powers and what caused them. These sessions are required to stay at the Academy, however they are specifically designed to cause little-to-no distress, both physical and emotional, on the part of the Powered; these sessions will be scheduled based on individual Powered’s needs and personal schedules.
The Academy is also a training ground designed to turn Powered into mindless, perfect soldiers and discover the secret to the magic in order to exploit it. Well, that’s what some Powered say. “Academy” is a misleading word. The Academy is a complex, with accommodation and education facilities and entertainment and anything one could need. Almost no-one leaves. Some say that the outside world has fallen into disrepair, there are rumours, people who swear they saw new people coming in, people who swear new arrivals are getting smaller, weaker, more scarred, more scared. Some say that those people are liars, or that the new arrivals are people who ran from Academy workers, that they foolishly thought the Academy was evil. One side clearly makes more sense, but who have you sided with?
The idea is to plan and enact an escape from the Academy, however it would be interesting to have characters that are not sold on the idea that the Academy is a nefarious organisation, perhaps your character had nothing before the Academy, perhaps the Academy's training gave your character new confidence, etc. I'd also be up for continuing the rp into the outside world if that's something that people would be interested in
