"As many of you know our kind was once nomadic, living mostly in tribes. One day the humans arrived on our planet. Does anyone know what they started to do?" He looked around, Selena looking down slightly sadly.
"No one knows? Or are you all hiding your faces in sadness?" A smile crossed his face, he stretched slightly. "that's right, they formed a colony, built prisons, and put our kind in them. That's not the worst, I'm sure, but it's all we know. Luckily it wasn't all bad, there were a few good humans. One of them was taken in by a certain tribe." He paused for any knowledge they held to be presented at this time.
"Then he accepted to be changed into a Roronian named Markus... He suggested the tribe chief to make peace and it succeeded..." Telas mumbled to himself as he remembered it all. The event happened not too long ago so it's easy to remember.
A smile, Mr. Jones had heard him. "Then the human became one of us, and the tribe made peace with the humans. That was the true beginning of our Roronian Empire, because all the other tribes began to take their orders from this one tribe, known as the royal line now." Selena squirmed, just slightly, not looking up at them, but otherwise didn't react to the mention of the royal line.
"It's only 50 years since the formation... Sir Markus is still alive with Madam Maple..." Telas answered quietly, mostly for himself.
(My character Markus fell in love with this character: Maple but only as normal civilians. We can change that and Mape is also a changed Roronian, being a human before the ritual.)
(I said the tribe was the royal line, not necessarily your characters. I was thinking about the Chief's family.)
"Right. Now, in fifty years we have gone from a mostly-nomadic tribe to one of the most powerful, sentient species in the Galaxy." Jones took out what looked like a giant projector. "This is due, in part, to our connection with the technologically strong Humanity, but our kindness doubled as an accelerator for our position. In ten years we had gathered technology from some of the other species' and earned our place among the sentient species. Does anyone know how?"
((Oh, ok. Well, however you want to do it. I was just thinking it would have made sense.))
"Simple, we saved an almost-extinct race. There was one, the Moonkind, who were known for blue hair and eyes, about to die out because they couldn't live on their moon anymore. We took the humans' terraforming technology, learned what they needed to live, and altered our own moon to give them a new homeworld. Doing this placed them in our debt, and they taught our people all we needed for interstellar flight."
Selena, for her part, struggled to get out of the class before Mr. Jones could catch her, and barely managed it, grabbing Telas' hand and rushing down the hall towards the stairs. "Don't ask, just run."
Telas jumped when Selena grabbed his hand and ran, almost making him fell but he quickly caught up and ran with her. He was going to ask what Selena is doing but he kept quiet.
In the background Mr Jones tried to call her, but they had reached the stairs by then, and she continued up to the next floor before stopping and breathing heavily. "S-sorry, he always tries to catch me after c-class."
