"Sure," Pepper answered as Reyna let out a yawn. As hesitant as she was to admit it to herself, she was quickly growing fond of Reyna. It didn't matter if she tried to keep her distance or not at this point, not with both Reyna and Emily sharing the apartment with her. It would still sting just as badly when the pair inevitably left. Pepper knew Emily felt bad about accepting her offer--hell, she'd felt bad just asking Pepper to pick up some things for Reyna. Pepper let out a quiet sigh as she stepped into the apartment and called out a greeting to Emily.
Pepper gave a small smile as she set Reyna down and looked over at Emily. It looked like she'd managed to keep some food down after all. Not much, but anything was better than nothing at all. "She was perfectly behaved," Pepper assured her. "I think all the excitement wore her out." Pepper opened her mouth to speak again just as Reyna came barreling into her side to give her a hug, thanking her for the book and the toy. Pepper chucked softly and returned the hug. "You're welcome," she answered, watching as Reyna bounced back across the room to her mother.
Pepper settled on the edge of a chair, glancing back to Emily again. "What about you?" she asked. "Feeling any better?"
(surprise, im not dead, just exhausted)
