Alex couldn’t help the soft sigh that slipped out at that. He refused to make any physical motions, just looked at Ezekiel when he heard him. Then the door opened and Emmett came in. “He’s.. fine. We had to give him some pain medicine but he seems okay.” Alex replied as he caught sight of Cameron behind him. “So.. what’s going on?” Kaiden asked Emmett. He was fine with Alex and Nate staying with them if they had to. That wasn’t an issue.​

Emmett joined them and grinned at Nate. Waving. “Hey there. Glad you’re okay. So, we talked to Maria, and we got her to agree that you can stay under a couple of conditions. One, you don’t leave for a while. They’re going to be watching you like you’re this year’s entertainment or possibly ex convicts.” He frowned. “There was some business with a girl who caused some problems not too long ago, so she doesn’t want to make a similar mistake. Two, you have to make yourself useful. No one gets to just be here without putting in their share of the work as well. That’s how this community goes. I have no doubt that you can do that.” He smiled now like he was ready for the next part. “Originally, we were going to shove you just wherever they could find, especially since she wasn’t sure if you’d be staying long, but I heard you reminding our shocked boy about a farmhouse. You still want one?”
