The Woods

There was a quiet surrounding Vince as the others spoke. One by one, they started to fill in the blanks -- speaking up and moving to deescalate the situation. All the while, Vince was as quiet as a grave. His ears were sifting through the conversations and keeping well track of the words. His eyes? They never really moved away from the man. He could tell that he only had one target in front of him. The man could look at Vince however he so pleased, but Vince had a face fit for poker.

But as the conversation went on, he saw a gun was lowered. He sighed out of relief and gingerly eased the hammer on his Peacemaker down towards the thing.

As scratched his head as he tried to decipher what the man was saying. Judging from his accent, he sounded like he was from "The South" of his old world. "Well, you seem like the kinda dude who's used to be giving a lotta things straight. So I'll be pretty simple: Like Katja said, sounds like you died." Vince said, rubbing the back of his neck;.

"I wouldn't say you're dead. You look perfectly alive. But a lotta from other worlds end up in this one from what I gather. I been here about a year and some change, enough to get on my own feet is all." The man spoke.

"Guess to throw my example in the pile, I died too." He began. "Death by getting my head cut off. I'm from an earth too but I don't think it's like yours. Mine...really ain't really like most folks. I was in the United States when all hell broke loose into an apocalypse." He shrugged.

"Ugly, mind controlling vampires -- who used nukes and made zombie-like versions of themselves. Something about "plunging the land into eternal night" or whatever" He says, using a sarcastically spooky voice before continuing "using nuclear winter. I joined up with some sword swingin' hunters and military dudes as a get-a-way drivers and mechanic after I got my family to safety. But one mission went bad. I got my head chopped off. Didn't turn though." Vince spoke about his origin without much stutter. It had been something he'd spoken about a lot. It didn't bother him much, but he couldn't claim to enjoy it.

"Getting by a truck seems pretty co-" With Vince eyes free to roam, suddenly they fell on Neko Arc.

"What the FUCK is that thing?" He immediately silenced himself after, wondering if maybe....he'd said something he shouldn't have. It seemed odd anything surprised him at this point.

Among the other arrivals was a beastkin who did say something he agreed with. "Yeah...uh let's just head back. Nobody's hurt so all water under the bridge. Hopefully the night stays quiet."

He debated another light -- but more drink sounded better. Hopefully tonight, there wouldn't be any more surprises like this.....

Rei Unagishi

Okinawa? Mac Diesel? Tenesse? United States? Nuclear? Another world?

Rei felts like her head was going to explode with the sudden influx of new jargons her allies and this new seemingly lost man started to speak. That, or its probably the alcohol starting to rattle her skull. The tension had seemingly subsided though with the man finally lowered his gun and told his side of the story so she can rest easy.

"I don't know what you guys are talking, soo... if anyone looking for me I will be in my room." Waving the group goodbye Rei staggeringly walked back towards the village. Though before she's completely off the sight her stomach finally gave up and she vomitted her lunch under a nearby tree, then she continued walking as if nothing happened.

As the tension dissipates, Neco-Arc has been uncharacteristically quiet, seeming to process Vincent's rather dramatic reaction to its presence. Suddenly, it springs back to life, posing dramatically.

Neco-Arc
La Creatura 3.jpg

"What am I? WHAT AM I?! I'm the terror that flaps in the night! I'm the- wait, wrong script again..." It rummages through its papers once more before tossing them away with a shrug. "I'm just your average everyday completely normal cat-person! Nothing weird here! Nope! Not at all!" It says while doing a handstand and walking on its paws.

As the group begins to disperse and head back to the village, a rustling in the bushes reveals an elderly goat beastkin, carrying a paper lantern. His long beard protruding from his chin, and he wears simple village clothing.

Yoshiro

"Ah, there you all are! We heard the gunshot from the village and- oh my, quite the gathering we have here." He bows respectfully. Seeing some new faces, the elder decides to introduce himself. "I am Elder Yoshiro. Please, allow me to guide you back to Taeko. We have prepared rooms for our guests, though they are humble. It seems we have much to discuss come morning."

As the group follows the elder back to the village, the sounds of crickets and night birds accompany their journey. The village of Taeko comes into view - a collection of modest wooden buildings with thatched roofs, arranged along dirt paths. Paper lanterns cast a warm glow over the scene, and the occasional villager can be seen heading home for the night.

Neco-Arc bounds ahead, somehow managing to trip over absolutely nothing and rolling the rest of the way down the path like a furry bowling ball.

The elder leads them to a simple guest house, sliding open the shoji doors to reveal basic, individual sleeping quarters with futons laid out. "Please make yourselves comfortable. Rest well - tomorrow promises to be... interesting." He gives a knowing look at the diverse group before bowing and taking his leave.

THE END
