  Isaiah is soft-spoken, reserved, but polite with strangers -- particularly living in a new place and surrounded by a culture that isn't the one he grew up with. This alongside with his hard-working streak when set to a job has led to some labeling him as tense and even uptight. However, those that manage to crack his proverbial shell and gain his trust are liable to find a surprisingly warm, loyal, and protective friend predisposed to self-deprecating wit.
  
  A bit of an introvert by nature, Izzy loves to experience new things, albeit in his own time and on his own terms. He prides himself on his thoughtfulness and meticulous planning. As such, his spur-of-the-moment decision to return to Japan as a student has been a bit of a whirlwind for him and he's still not sure when he'll "adjust"... if he ever does. In the meantime, he takes things one day at a time, doing his best to immerse himself in Tokyo's charm.

  Isaiah was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia -- the middle child of a large family. While he loved the hustle & bustle of his home growing up, he developed a love for the outdoors that city couldn't satisfy. As such, Izzy spent many of his Summers "adventuring" on the beaches of Georgia's Barrier Islands down south or the Blue Ridge Mountains up north under the watchful eye of his uncle. Dodson did well in school -- a good student and even better athlete -- graduating alongside his twin sister. He enlisted with the Army in order to see the world and follow in the footsteps of his father... and to earn money for his future.
  
  Opting to challenge himself, Isaiah applied for Special Forces training. After two years of schooling, he was stationed in Okinawa where he lived for four years (in between deployments and leave time). Initially out of his depth, Izzy found himself developing a fondness for the country and its people. After leaving active duty, he returned home and began pursuing a career as a Physician's Assistant. After beginning his junior year of college, his counselor informed him of an open slot for studying abroad for a year at the University of Tokyo. On a whim, Izzy took the opportunity. He arrived in Japan only a little over a month ago and is renting a small apartment in Nerima for the duration of his studies.

Haruhi is pretty much a friend of the world, but an enemy to herself. Endlessly playful and silly she can't resist a good time, but rather than being the "life of the party" she's more like the poor kid who accidentally ate the special brownies like normal and is now laying in the front yard. She tries not to take life too seriously and rolls with the punches. To her friend she's a staunch ally and a ride-or-die kinda gal, to her enemies, she's undeservingly arrogant. Confidence radiates from Haruhi like a powerful aura, but it comes more from her comfort with her own shortcomings and lameness than any real feelings of superiority.

• Siblings: Haruhi is the youngest of 3 kids. She has an older sister ( Keioko / 25/ Very Close) and an older brother (Shun / 28 / Good Relationship)

  • Mother: Misa, a social work program director, strained relationship
  • Father: Eiji, a factory production manager, not very close
• Uncle: Haruhi lives with, and is very close to, her uncle Jay.
• Her parents are middle class, while her uncle is lower class. Her brother, on the other hand, is very wealthy.

After graduating high school as a mediocre artist, football player, and student, Haruhi decided it was time for a fresh start. She had never been much of anything really. While not a total failure, she was never a success either and that felt almost worst. She is pitifully average in every single way. Unlike her eldest brother, Shun, a wildly successful tech engineer and programmer. Despite coming from a modest family, he had made it big and left big shoes for his younger sisters to fill. Her older sister Keioko had done this by becoming a respectable member of the military, but Haruhi was stuck. She wasn't very talented at any one thing and she wasn't going to last a day somewhere as hard as the military. Moving out of the enormous shadow of her brother, she moved in instead with her Uncle Jay a struggling author and artist in the city. The two share a fantastic sense of humor and enjoy mocking their own misfortunes over bubble tea and pizza.

Haruhi has always loved food, something that was a problem in middle school during her years as a rather overweight child. But now in her adulthood, she hopes to make that a career. She now runs an online foodie blog where she goes to restaurants all over the city and makes comedic reviews of the dishes and drinks. So far it's gained a small following, but not nearly enough to become a full-time career. Until then, she works at an internet cafe where she talks video games and esports with the patrons, being a pretty avid gamer herself.

When she is not at the cafe, she takes online courses pursuing her degree in writing and journalism so that she might be a better blogger and advance her career. Along with food, she enjoys music and loves to listen to it pretty much night and day. Her favorite is American hip-hop but she is also partial to a few K-Pop bands. While she aspires to have such a strong and cute ~aesthetic~ she has more or less embraced herself exactly as she is. Her own comfort and sense-of-self often makes the people around her more comfortable to be themselves. She is never afraid to "let her freak flag fly"

Misaki is an airy, drifting person. Her mind never stays on one topic for too long, and she's always trying to unsuccessfully multitask which causes her to be quite clumsy and scatterbrained. She has a deep love for plants that stems from a drive to overcome her lack of a natural green thumb. Any problem that arises with gardening she delves into too deeply, researching and brainstorming far past it being necessary. Her main weaknesses arise from her gullibility and blind trust she too easily places onto other people. She has an even temper, typically responding to situations in a calm, thoughtful way.

Misaki grew up in a supportive household, as the younger sibling, most of the pressure and nerves to do well in a career fell on her older sister Yui, allowing Misaki to drift in her plans for her life throughout high school until she realized that a career with plants was possible. Her parents have always been supportive, seeing the passion and drive that comes from those goals.
• Grandmother: Sachiko Inaba: Good relationship. Misaki learned much of her gardening knowledge through her grandmother, who maintains a beautiful garden and green house. She aspires to achieve the same level of skill and care.
