Penelope Burns
Forest, of run fame.
Nialla had no idea where she was. One minute she was in the gym, feeling almost dead, and the next she was in the Earth's orbit. Did Ren's portal work? No, no it couldn't have. She was still alive, after all.
Or was she?
Were these her final moments of life? Was she a ghost, destined to wander the universe for all eternity?
Voices. She heard voices. Star, Ren. Emotions began to fill her. Anger, fear, joy. She was alive, but she couldn't feel anything.
"Well Nia, it's good to see you again." Nialla knew that voice. To anyone else , it was innocence, purity. To Nialla, it was darkness.
It was Vi.
Vi didn't look like her normal self; she was completely see-through, with the only recognizable traits being her voice and, for some reason, her black eyes.
"How?" Was all Nialla could utter.
"Oh, don't be an idiot. There are two possibilities that you know of: telepathy or hallucination. I don't have powers of telepathy, as far as you know, so what does that leave?" She sounded incredible angry. Like the mere act of talking to Nialla was going to send her into a fit of rage.
"You and I both know that telepathy is still possible, even if I didn't know you had the power." Nialla said, ignoring Vi's way of finding a solution to a question.
"Look, none of that matters. What matters is you waking up and kicking that Ren boy's ass for me. He deserves it for what he's done to you." Vi smiled her smile, a smile that told the world she was an innocent and curious girl, but told Nialla to run. Fast.
"No, he didn't want to fight , why would I attack him for doing his assignment?" Nialla stood her ground. Vi wasn't swaying her actions, never again. "Just leave me alone." Nialla said, tired of the conversation. Of everything.
"As you wish." As Vi said that her body rapidly began disintegrating, though if she cared she showed no sign.
And then the light came.
****
Nialla woke to a loud ringing, still disoriented from her fight. After a moment she recognized the ringing as the school bell. Nialla tried to get up, but she felt drained, unable to move. She tried to ask what was going on, but she couldn't seem to move her mouth either.
She tried moving her head, and she managed to look around. She was in the nurses office, safe. Alive.
