Fantasy Supernatural Teenage Drama

Ryan smiled then turned to walk to his next class. He thought over the supplies of the project. Such a large half pipe to build. On the bright side, he would get to snowboard again after five years. The teen wandered the halls then turned a corner to visit his locker.

Jackie frowned. No one liked not being able not use their powers, and she felt horrible for Alec. "Can you partly shift? Or is that not part of your power?" she asked, curious.

Rob blushed a little, embarrassed by his sudden outburst and looked away from Miu. "Sorry. Im not use to having... people to talk too. Ive been here 7 years, but this is the first year people have talked to me... I dunno why this year is so special." He frowned a little, "Im not use to having... uh... friends." He scratched the back of his head, "And Im definitely not use to.. having maybe a girl who likes me... around."

"I mean, I've got the whole voice thing that happens," Alec said, referring to how he growled and snarled. "Like I can imitate an animal's voice. But otherwise, no. At least it isn't forever. I might be able to once the worst of the fractures have healed."

Jackie sighed. "I'm sorry..." she said. "I can't imagine how tough it's going to be." She looked at him sympathetically and patted his shoulder. "I really hope you heal soon. Being powerless isn't fun."

"Technically, I'm not powerless. I would just be a three legged wolf for awhile," he said, a hint of amusement in his eyes. Alec paused. "Do you feel anything when you meet other gifted humans who can control the elements? I can usually sense other shifters."

Jackie nodded. "Obviously, I can sense fire the easiest, but it's strange because not a lot of people have fire as their power. It's usually air or earth. It's hard for me to sense water people, I guess just because our elements are 'opposite'." She laughed. "I don't get along with them much, either," she told him.

"Yes, I've not come across many fire users. I can often recognize a shifter in any form. Human shifters- ones that take other human shapes- are more difficult." Alec ran a hand through his hair. "That seems so odd to me, taking another human shape. I'm so used to my animal forms."

"Could you do it? Human shifting, I mean?" Jackie asked. She had no idea there were so many types of shifting, and it was pretty interesting. She should make an effort to learn what others could do.

Charlotte looked at Richard as he looked at her. All day, people had been looking at her but everyone looked at her with angry or surprised looks, Richard looked at her different. He was the first student that didn't hate her or hate her actions. It was weird. When the bell rang, Charlotte looked at Richard with angry looks, the same she had gotten all day, trying to make Richard go away.

Alec shook his head. "No. I don't know of any shifter who can do both." He watched a small bird flit around the courtyard. Making a series of small chirping sounds, he held out his hand and the bird flew over, landing on his hand.

Miu turned back to face him and took his hand in both of hers, trying to show that she cared. "I like having you around. A lot of people do. You're not alone." An enthusiastic smile tugged on her lips. "I hope things work out for you. You deserve that much, I'm sure."

He smiled, "Thanks Miu." He sat back and looked around, "It really is beautiful out here, there should be more outside classes. So if Trent messes with you again, let me know. Not that you really need help I guess defending yourself.. but hey Ive got nothing better to do than beat up jerkfaces who mess with you."

Jackie smiled. "Now that's a cool trick," she said, looking at the bird on Alec's finger. She had always loved animals, but most of them didn't like to come near her, probably because they could sense something dangerous about her.

"Me, too. Nothing exciting ever happens. That fight last night wasn't fun. I wish we had a street festival." Miuna fished a bag of M&M's out of her purse and began feasting on the treat. Suddenly, a grim expression crossed her face. "There's gonna be a war. I can tell."

Alec tipped his head, listening to the bird's chirping. He moved the bird closer to Jackie, murmuring reassurances to the tiny bird. "There you go," he said softly. The bird hopped off of his hand and onto the bench between the pair. "Yes, I can sort of speak to the animals in my human form. They think it's odd, but they'll still approach me."

He looked at her for a moment, "The last thing we need is a war." He looked at the M&Ms, "You're like Marry Poppins... Maybe you can just hand out cookies and other treats to everybody and diffuse the war from ever happening." He grinned a little, trying to keep the mood light.

Fascinated, Jackie extended a finger. "Can I... Do you think it'll let me touch it?" she asked quietly.

Alec whistled softly to the bird and it hopped towards Jackie cautiously. "I'd say go for it." A moment later, Alec said, "See, I told you she's nice." Glancing up at Jackie, he added, "They smell fire. Fire is something they all fear. They don't understand you can control it."

Ryan reached his locker and swung it open. He gazed at its contents. His backpack and skateboard were just lying there. Obviously, Ryan didn't even need his locker. He could just dash to the textbooks' distributors whenever teachers asked him to take the book out. The teen closed his locker and leaned on it as he waited a few moments to walk to his next class.

Dexter scratched the back of his head. "You make it sound easy. As you've probably noticed, it's more difficult with having to do it on an everyday basis. If it gets too hard hope you don't mind spending some time alone just to get it to wear off." he replied. When class ended he flashed Ryan a pleasant grin before he left. He turned to Jourdan again. "Whenever see each other around maybe I can find somewhere we could practice."

He left the classroom quickly afterwards, cursing himself for not asking to leave the room faster. Then he remembered that he brought some headphones with him. He stepped to the side and searched his case for them, pulling them out and sticking them into his iPhone. Like before, music in the ears acted as an emotional blockade to keep everyone's emotions out. He broke out into a speed walk as he tapped the play button on his mp3 app, not caring what song he listened to.

Ryan glanced at the clock then looked at his schedule. Telepathy was the only class that remained the same from the previous day since it was now a required course for all students. He began walking to the class remembering what Alec had explained to him. Think about music, poems, or stories...it will help block other people's attempts to read you. Honestly, the class was slightly tricky for Ryan since it was a whole new concept he had to grasp.

Richard opened his locker and took out his schedule. His next class was shapeshifting. He was a bit worried about the next class, he was really good in regular classes but he was terrible in any class that required his powers. He never used his powers anyway, the other students his age could control their powers but Richard was not prepared for any of that

While he was busy walking, he thought to look at his schedule one more time in case he accidentally walked past his next class. " Physics.... Telepathy again? Whatevs." he mumbled sticking it somewhere random in one his case zippers. He wondered how much more he had to learn from that class that he hasn't learned already. He was considered one of the top mental power users in his whole grade; he spent most of the time being a teacher rather than a student while he was in there, of which he didn't mind. Many teens didn't take a liking to him because of how infuriating he could be. He constantly crossed between being very strict and no nonsense to being almost patronizing to those he felt weren't trying hard enough. There were powerful students at this school, so it was important that the younger ones knew how to protect themselves. He may not be completely sided with gifted humans, but he could at least exercise the importance of staying safe and prepared. Anything could happen.

After third period was over, Alec finally decided to drag himself to his next class. Once he entered the room, he smiled. "Hey, Dexter. Sorry I left before you woke up." Alec had woken up early and left the infirmary. This time, the nurse had known about it and had let him go reluctantly. "Why are you in a low level telepathy class?" He asked. Unless Dexter was teaching this class, there was no need for him to be here.
