Fantasy Supernatural Teenage Drama

"What, like dragons and griffins and unicorns?" Jackie's eyes sparkled. "If you do, tell me right away, okay?" She said excitedly. She was starting to relax talking to Alec, who seemed perfectly calm. Jackie realized she actually didn't know much about Alec, so she asked, "Hey, do you do any sports? Or do you just run around in various animal forms?"

"Yes, exactly like that." Alec leaned back in his seat. "I like archery and marksmanship. I can hit just about any target. And I used to take various martial arts classes here, but I mostly fight in animal forms," he answered. Alec glanced at the clock and sighed; the period would be over soon. "And yourself?"

"That wasn't my power," Miu explained. "That's what this class teaches. My actual power is being able to see and talk to dead things." To demonstrate, she switched focus to her other eye, which could see hundreds of violent spirits in the room. "That's odd. It's probably because of all the darkness," Miuna thought aloud. "I can control them, too, but I won't do that now. These spirits are mean. They'll kill you."

Jackie finished off her pizza while Alec was talking. "I do fencing. Ever since I was little. I'm in the school team now, actually, but practice doesn't start til next week. So I have nothing to do for a while except lay around and play some music." She flicked some sparks at Alec playfully, and stood up to throw away her trash.

"Yeah, I've been banned from the shooting range for a week." Alec scowled at the thought, but shook his head, a smile returning to his face. "Whatever. I can sneak in anyway." Around them, the noise level rose as students made their way to the exit. "Ugh, already? I'll see you after classes are over then?"

" 'Course. Where do you wanna meet up?" Jackie asked as they walked out of the cafeteria.

Jordan decided to sit down by a group of teens that seemed friendly enough. They smiled at her when she sat down, "Hey Jordan." A couple of them said, that knew her. Jordan smiled and greeted them in return. Then suddenly another teenager walked by and she stopped at the table and crossed her arms, and glared. Jordan felt the others anxiety wash over her, and she frowned at the girl. "What do you want Lisa...?" One of the other students asked looking down. "You know very well what I want. Give it back to me now!" Panic started to rise up in the other students at the table, "We didn't take it! I swear!" Jordan looked up at the girl trying to ignore the others panic swarming in her. "What's the matter?" The girl, Lisa glared at Jordan, "They took my notebook." The teens shook their heads, "No we didn't and it's not yours in the first place!" Jordan stood up and crossed her arms, "What's this notebook? Like a diary?" Lisa laughed harshly, "Yeah... Yeah let's call it that." One of the other teens looked at Jordan, "No it's not. It's a notebook that you can write stuff down in it, and it manipulates others into doing things. Lisa stole it from one of the teachers!" Lisa hissed at the other students, "It's mine!" Jordan glared, "I don't think so." Lisa turned on Jordan and pushed her hard, and Jordan fell to the ground and looked up at Lisa in anger.

"North corner of the dorms. Might be a bit late; you never know with Hara." Alec stepped out into the hallway. "I'll see you then." He went to his locker and switched out his textbooks for the afternoon before hurrying to his class, barely making it into the door before the bell.

"Okay..." Jackie said, distracted by a commotion in the cafeteria. As Alec made his way down the hallway, she turned and went back in. Inside, she saw a pretty blonde girl on the ground glaring at a very bi- meanish girl. She meant meanish. Jackie ran to the blonde girl's side and asked, "You okay? What happened?"

As Alec sat in the class, he started nodding off, bored by the mathematics they had started. As he dozed, he started to dream. Within his dream, the secret fear of many gifted humans came true. War. In the chaos, he couldn't tell if gifted humans were fighting the ungifted or themselves. In any case, he saw himself fighting in the war. He saw Jackie. Ryan. Countless other students he knew. Disturbed by the dream, Alec started awake and sat in silent horror. He wasn't a seer, so they couldn't be premonitions, could they? 'No, just a dream,' he told himself firmly.

Jordan stood up and looked at the girl, Jackie, she recalled, "I'm okay... This girl, stole a notebook that manipulates others actions." Jordan pointed at Lisa. "I didn't steal the notebook! It's part of my power! They stole it from me!" The other teens were fleeing. Jordan glared at Lisa then looked at Jackie. Lisa focused on Jordan trying to manipulate her, and Jordan felt an urge in her to push Jackie, but resisted long enough to read Lisa's thoughts and knew it was her. Jordan backed away. "Why aren't you hitting her!?" Lisa asked in disbelief. Jordan's eyes widen, "Jackie she's manipulating me...! I don't want hurt you!" Jordan didn't know how long she could resist.

Once class was dismissed, Miu skipped out of the room, finding her way to the cafeteria. There seemed to be some sort of brawl occurring between a couple of girls. Normally, Miuna wouldn't bother to get involved, but two of the girls were people she knew. The familiar darkness from earlier welled up inside of her, turning her eyes black and deathly, as a dark aura surrounded her and put a dimmer on the brightness of the room. She stopped right behind the girl with the notebook and muttered in an eerie whisper, "You're abusing power. You're a rotten brat. The lowest kind of scum." The students surrounding them gulped in fear, unused to Miu's alter-ego. While one eye was closed, the other was wide open, staring directly at Lisa.

Lisa's eyes widened and she felt terrified from Miuna's power and released her grasp on Jordan and turned to face Miuna, face panicked. Jordan felt the terror of Lisa go into her and she tensed up and took deep breaths. Calm down... It's not your emotions... Calm down... Jordan looked at Jackie terrified.

Jackie shared a glance with Jordan. She stepped up to Miuna hesitantly. "Hey... It's okay, you don't have to do anything. I think you scared her enough." She put her hand on Miuna's shoulder. Then she looked at the other girl, Lisa. "You never, ever use your powers on someone without their permission. Understand?" She lit up her finger and brought it close to Lisa's face, just for show. "Be glad security didn't catch you doing that." With that, the bell rang.

Lisa eyes widened more from Jackie, then glared, "Then I'll be happy to tell the security about her!" She pointed at Miuna. Jordan glared and read Lisa's mind, "You don't know who took the notebook. And it wasn't yours to start with. You just blamed the others because of your past with them. If you tell the security about Miu or Jackie, I'll have to tell about this incident on you." Jordan crossed her arms. Lisa frowned for a moment wondering how Jordan knew, then she started to run off. Jordan looked at Miu and Jackie, "Thanks for helping. Both of you." She heard the bell, and bit her lip, "Is that for class starting?"

At Jackie's insistence, Miuna fought down the pool of death in her mind. It was harder than usual. This was the second time she had to regain control that day. Forcing herself out of the darkness took up a lot of her energy, but she forced herself to keep standing anyways. No one knew just how much she could see. It wasn't just spirits of humans; animals, plants, fungi, and especially bugs scurried all over the place. She had grown used to it for the most part, but there were times when she still got frightened by it all. The notion of getting dragged down into the despair was terrifying, but it was a hell of a lot harder to keep it from overwhelming her. "I'm okay now. I won't hurt anyone." She faintly heard the bell, but decided to ignore it. She wouldn't be able to sit without passing out anyways. "I suppose so. I'll be in the courtyard if anyone needs me."

Jackie nodded. "It's no problem, Jordan." She scratched her head. "I probably shouldn't have threatened her.... Oh well. I have to go, I have Professor Jones next, and you know how he is." She smiled apologetically. "See you both around!" She called as she ran out of the cafeteria and to her next class, which, thankfully, was only a couple rooms away.

Football was the last two classes for Robby and he loved it. He was a Dallas Cowboys fan, and it was one of the few things from the regular world he could bring with him here. He stood in the middle and watched the offense line up to conduct there play. Slowly his body turned to armor as he set up to get ready to run through the line. There were rules in place to protect everyone, and they only scrimmaged each other.

The ball was snapped and Rob took off, quickly trucking through the line. He didn't tackle the quarterback, just pushed him down. If Rob had put his full armored weight onto the boy, he was afraid he would hurt him. After the play was whistled dead by the coach, Rob offered a hand to the quarterback after turning back to his normal form. What he didn't see was a lineman coming to take a cheap shot on Rob, which the lineman did. Rob was on the ground and rolled quickly as the bigger lineman who Rob recognized as Johnathon Marx, who was another strength student.

John ripped off Rob's helmet and went to punch him with full force in to head, but Rob quickly turned to his armored form, and all John did was break his hand on Rob's face. Rob lost his control, angry with the cheap shot, and lifted John into the air with ease. His anger amplified his power and Rob began throwing the boy across the field, and beating him. A few of the students saw Mr.Lancaster, a teacher who could manipulate metals tearing down through the halls out into the field.

Rob was about to do a final swing as hard as he could through the helmet of the young boy and into his face. He felt Mr.Lancaster start as his punch made its downward arc toward John. It slowed until it was painful for Rob to try and fight it. Rob finally pulled back and Mr.Lancaster released his hold on Rob. Rob sat back, then stood quickly turning back to him human form. He was distraught with his loss of control.

Alec's remaining 'normal' classes dragged by. Finally, when the bell rang to end his English class, it was time for some real fun. He headed outside to meet Mr. Hara. They practiced outside so they'd have enough room without damaging anything. The teacher sometimes brought a few students to watch. Not all were shifters; some were merely interested and had an extra period.

When Alec reached the field behind the school, Mr. Hara was already there with a handful of students. But before Alec could start anything, Hara pulled him aside to talk to him in private.

"I heard about the fight. Alec, you can't be doing that, especially if you want to help me with the lower classes. Some gifted parents already have heard about it and have complained to me. They won't be going to the principal this time, so be grateful for that," he said.

"I know. I'm sorry. It won't happen again." Alec tried to look contrite and the teacher smiled tiredly.

"We'll start where we left off." Alec had private sessions with Hara over the summer, and they'd been working on new forms.

A half hour later, Alec reverted back to human shape, exhausted from his attempts. But the lesson wasn't over yet, and Hara decided to test Alec's fighting ability. They often sparred in various forms; it was Alec's replacement for the martial arts class. Hara was still more skilled than Alec, and Alec groaned. But he still leapt forward, shifting in midair.

When the day ended, both teacher and student were exhausted and covered in bruises. However, one of the students watching had healing abilities and healed the worst of the bruises. Alec thanked his teacher and the student, and headed off to meet Jackie.

Miuna stumbled through the halls, only half-awake and barely aware of the odd looks her peers were casting towards her. "Hey...are you okay?" an upperclassman asked, reaching out to her. He was ignored, however, as she passed him without a word. "Hey!" he called after her, but Miu kept going on her way. At long last, the unsteady teen burst through the double doors that led to the courtyard and collapsed in a heap under the cover of an ancient tree whose roots fanned out far past its shadow. "Yuki, I'm tired. I wanna sleep." The spirit placed her hands on her hips and scolded Miu for her unladylike behavior. "I don't care. I wanna sleep." When she closed her eyes, however, the spirit shook her violently to keep her awake, reminding her of the dance she had to attend in a couple hours. "Oh, right. I need a dress. Yuki, what should I wear?"

As the spirit went off on a rant about different fashion choices for the teen, a group of girls caught sight of Miu and began whispering to themselves. "She's such a freak," one whispered. "She tries to act all cute for the guys, but I bet she's actually a huge stalker. Like, look at her. She's talking to herself. What a creep."

Miuna heard it all, but didn't have the fight left in her to scare them off. "Why are you whispering about me?" she called to them, her tone soft and genuinely curious. Most people were intimidated by direct confrontation, anyways. "I'm right here. You can come here and talk if you want to know more about me."

The girls, who at first seemed startled, quickly gained looks of disdain. "No thanks, sweetie. We have better things to do with our time than talk to posers like you," one of the girls responded haughtily. "Who does she think she is?" she muttered to the girl to her right as they moved back inside.

Miuna watched them go from her peripheral vision and tilted her head to the side, curious about what the squad had meant. "Did you hear that, Yuki? She called me sweet. She's so nice."

Charlotte walked out of her class she looked back to see the other students still in class laughing and pointing at her. Just a few seconds ago, she almost got her ears broken by a loud announcement by the principal. She didn't pay much attention to it but she suspected it had something to do with her, as soon as the teacher entered the room she was sent to the principal's office.

When Charlotte finally arrived to the office, the principal started to talk with her, Charlotte knew she was in trouble.

" Charlotte, do you remember the detention I gave you today? Well I've decided to give you a bigger punishment than that. You can thank your brother. I am sure you heard about the dance, your brother suggested to make you finish the decorations and you will have to attend the dance, you may go now "

" You know I won't do any of that"

" if you don't do it, you will be suspended"

Charlotte walked out of the principals office and headed towards the gym to finish with the decorations, and she had to find her brother and kill him first

Ryan ended up giving a successful monologue that made some students laugh. He smiled as he was dismissed from the theater class. The teacher called Ryan back then mentioned something to him about a play. Ryan raised an eyebrow and laughed, "Really? I do one monologue and you ask me to do a play?" The teacher nodded, "I'll give you extra credit when you switch to Calculus". The teen responded, "Do you really think I would need extra credit?" The teacher thought for a moment then replied, "Oh yeah...you're one of those students. Well, you should or else I WILL influence your emotions". Ryan's eyes widened, "Are you in some way blackmailing me?" The teacher laughed, "I don't know Mr. Ryan Anderson, am I?" Ryan nodded, "Fine fine...I'll be in it". "That's the spirit Ryan! One of my favorites indeed! Sorry I have to do this to you. People have been trying out, but honestly, they've been sucking!" The teacher responded. Ryan said, "Yeah it's okay bye". The teen left the room and wandered into the hallway. A play? Ryan in a PLAY? How would that turn out? Hold on, which play was it?

Jordan went to her next to classes which involved Telepathy, and English. She arrived late to Telepathy thanks to the incident during lunch and the teacher raised her eyebrows surprised. "Jordan? This is new for you." Jordan was so down already for being late to two classes in one day, she didn't want to hear it. "Yeah, I get it." She replied harshly. The teacher did not appreciate the tone and she casted Jordan a scolding look. "Take a seat Miss Freidon. And don't be late again." Jordan mentally slapped herself and she sat at her desk burying her face in her hands. The teacher assumed Jordan's attitude was because of how the class was required to all students so they could put up shields in there minds, therefore messing with her power. She decided to keep an eye on Jordan. After Telepathy Jordan went to English, and it was uneventful. Finally after all the classes Jordan went to her locker, overwhelmed, thinking back on her day. She had one thing to look forward to, and that was the dance with Rob. She hoped that that would lighten her mood.

Rob showered and was back in the hallways and walked in, he saw Jordan and stopped. He was afraid to go near her because he knew he was in an awful mood and he was afraid it would affect her. He was just so disappointed with himself for losing his cool. He scratched his head not sure what to do. While he was contemplating his next move, he was bumped into, by a kid about his size who was a Ice Bender.

"Ungifted Sympathizer."

Rob's anger flared again, and he was about to grab the kid, but stopped himself. He lowered his arm and watched the kid walk away, taking deep breathes, trying to calm himself.

"Is that what this is all about? Is a civil war going to started with the gifted?"

Jordan closed her locker after putting her stuff in and saw Rob a little ways down the hall. He also didn't seem to be in the best of moods, but that didn't stop Jordan from going to approach him. As she got closer, she felt another stormy wave of emotion fill her but she tried not to focus on it as she looked at Rob, "Hey? Are you okay?" She asked him gently, and put a hand on his shoulder.
