The dark image of her mother turned back into what she'd remembered as a girl, before she'd been killed. It didn't change that she remember what had happened, what day this day was. A moment later she was aware of the other presence, a man standing within her kitchen. He seemed pleasant enough but she knew better, or at least she thought she did. This was a reaper and she was dying.
Ever so slowly the eight-year old version of Mackenzie would slowly and cautiously move around the kitchen table, keeping the furniture between them. The image of her mother did not seem to notice the stranger standing in their kitchen, continuing in her sing-song voice cooking breakfast. Dark eyes never left the man as she traveled the kitchen to the counter next to her mother, casually she'd pull the top drawer open and retrieve a long hunting knife. She was aware it would do no good against a Reaper, but at least it gave her comfort. "I need to get back." She'd say, this wasn't the first time she'd dealt with a Reaper before. "My friend is in trouble and-" pounding foot-steps from the hall way cut her off, eyes darted towards the two teenage boys running into the room, already shouting at each other. Her heart ached seeing them, her brothers; she missed them more than she knew. Eyes would dart back to the man. "Lift the veil." It pained her to say this, she wanted to see her family again, be with them, but she had a duty to keep Ashley alive.
The howls were coming closer; they would on them in a short amount of time and Ashley knew it would be impossible for them to escape if they caught them out like this. Ashley could tell William didn't appreciate her request, but she knew what she was doing. Or at least hoped it would go as she planned. She was taking the trauma dressing and working as directed, pressing them against the deepest of the lacerations on Mackenzie's back. She'd nod to William. "I'll go in the bed with her." She'd nod towards the keys still in the ignition of the Ford. "I'm a universal donor. Once we get her moved I'll get an IV in; it'll keep her stable. I got this." She was relieved to see the bleeding slow significantly after the dressing had been applied, and now she glanced towards to William. "You ready?" The man seemed large enough to handle Mackenzie on her own, the huntress was a small thing even compared to Ashley. While she was muscular and fit, Mackenzie had a quite petite stature.
