Mackenzie fished out an ID that would work for Will's plan and pocketed, stuffing the box back into the duffel bag on the back of the truck. "I'm not much of a people person." She glanced to Chase briefly to see if the wolf wanted to add a comment before moving on. "So I'll head to the records room to pull up details from the other victim and see if there's anything historically there. He might have a pattern. If he's been to the same place in the past then he might recycle old haunting grounds." She shrugged. "He wouldn't be the only thing I've hunted who did it."

Ashley-May frowned at Elijah and his serious tone. He'd told her long ago about what had happened with the Men of Letter and his parting, the loss of he beloved friend. She wanted to deny him, to tell him she knew better, that she knew the Men of Letters wouldn't harm her, or Liam for that matter, but then she would be saying too much. She a sigh of resignation she nodded. "Fine, but I won't avoid them either." She amended. "I'm not going to bring them any welcome baskets but I'm not going to run away from them either. This is my home and I'm not going to let anyone make me feel uncomfortable in it. Not any more."

Chase grabbed federal agent badge from those that he had in his hands then slipped the rest back into the side pocket on his bag and zipping it back up. Grabbing the bag he placed it on the floorboard of the backseat and closed the door. "Alright then, guess that means I'm tagging along with you then." Chase nodded towards Will as he walked back around the truck. Not only did digging through hospital records in a stuffy room not sound appealing but he needed to get into the room with the victim to even have a chance at getting a whiff of the belongings.

William nodded to Chase. "Sounds good. With any luck they'll have some of the victim's clothing left over from the attack for you to get a scent from... if the police haven't taken it." He turned toward Mackenzie. "Be careful," he told her, giving her hand a squeeze. "Call me if you find anything interesting or run into trouble." With that, the three of them made their way across the lot, median, and toward the front entrance of the hospital.

Being in plainclothes, they didn't receive anything more than a few glances until approaching reception, at which point William introduced them as Special Agents with the FBI. The wide-eyed receptionist had no interest in fact-checking their credentials and eagerly directed them toward their destinations: Mac toward the records room (calling a nurse to escort her there and unlock the door) and Will & Chase toward the recovery ward.

William was glad to see that the victim wasn't in protective custody of any kind. He stepped into the room, the hum and soft beeping of machines audible. "Hello?" a man croaked from the bed.

"Mr. Stenson?" Will replied.

"Yes?" the man replied wearily.

"I'm with the FBI. I'm looking into your case. Do you mind if my partner and I ask you a few questions about your attack?"

"I... all right," he replied resignedly, his lips pursed beneath the bandage wrapped firmly around eye sockets Will knew to be empty. "I don't know how much I'll be able to tell you, though."

"That's all right. Any detail can help," Will said as he approached the man's bedside, leaning against the wall. As he did so, he glanced over to see a plastic bag full of dirtied clothes in the room's attached bathroom. No doubt it was victim's clothing that had been returned from -- or never made it to -- the crime lab. Will turned, making eye contact with Chase before gesturing toward it silently.

Elijah smiled, nodding slowly. "That's all I ask, love," he murmured. He slowly lifted both of Ashley-May's hands upward, pressing his lips to the knuckles on each in a soft kiss. He then lowered her arms to bring his lips to her mouth instead, kissing her deeply.

Mackenzie made her way towards the records room as directed by the receptionist. It wasn't difficult to find once she was headed the right way, like with most hospitals signage on the wall directed wouldbe visitors wherever they needed to go, it was the halls and doorways that had no directions attached she needed to follow. The records room itself was empty, save for herself and an endless maze of filing cabinets. It was clear that they were in the process of moving records to digital, given the scanner and computer setup at the entry but she was thankful to spy a card catalogue just beyond it.

She quickly searched through the cards to find the call numbers for what she was looking for. Wandering through the stacks she found the files from the most recent victims, soon followed by the historical records.

Ashley-May smiled at Elijah as he accepted her terms. It wasn't what she wanted but she trusted that his concerns for her and Liam were genuine but she was also certain that his opinion if bias. Of course he had every right not to trust them, after what they'd done. She raised an eyebrow as he leaned inward and kissed her, the smile on her lips broadening.

She jumped as the timer of the oven went off, and she laughed quietly against his lips, reaching past him to turn it off. "How about you get those cookies out of the oven and come meet me in the bedroom?" She winked at him. "We're alone in the house for the first time in weeks and we have a tiny human on the way. I don't know when we're going to get this much private time again."

She placed a final kiss on his cheek before departing the kitchen.

Once inside the hospital Chase opted to let Will take point and do the immediate talking and only speak if needed. Typically he found that people would respond positively to a single person speaking to them when it came to these sorts of tactics of using badges, rather than getting ganged up on. The smell had hit him the moment they'd entered but it got stronger the further inside and more confined they got. That strong sterilized cleaning smell that came with every hospital and caused his nose to itch and burn a little, Chase always disliked hospitals for this fact. Not to mention the mixed in odors of blood, infection, and in some cases death. He had to focus on his other senses to try and not be so bothered, and physically show it on his face as they walked down the halls. Luckily it was either working or Will hadn't noticed since he didn't ask. Eventually they came to the room and entered, luckily the victim wouldn't be able to potentially read his face either. Though Chase did clear his throat so that the man in the bed had an audible confirmation of his existence.

Whilst Will spoke Chase had already started glancing around the room, specifically along the beds railings and underneath to look for the clothes the man came in with. Will looking his way caught his attention and Chase glanced at where the other man had gestured. Carefully he took a step back and bent over slightly towards the bag, deciding to do this quietly. He pulled on one of the handles to open the bag up more and moved his face closer. Normally he might not have to but considering they were in a hospital he needed to try and make sure and differentiate between the scents. Chase took his time as he breathed in the scents, more disinfectant either from the hospital or the immortal's work. There was the victim's scent which he'd already picked up on when entering the room. The rest of the scents were faint and one big jumble. Some likely the people who'd worked on the victim when he'd come into the hospital and removed the clothing but there were others and there was a distinct way they mingled that caused him to hesitate with thought. The man straightened up once finished, leaving the bag as it was but clearly lost more in thought than listening to the conversation ahead of him.

"So, you were out jogging when you were attacked?" William asked softly.

"That's right," Stenson remarked.

"And you didn't get a look at your attacker?"

"No. They attacked me from behind. Choked me. Put something over my head."

Will nodded. "They didn't say anything?"

The victim shook his head. "No, I--" He frowned beneath his bandages. "Wait. Yes. He did. He said, 'I'm sorry'."

Will cocked his head. "You're sure about that?"

The man nodded. "Yeah. Before I went unconscious."

"The voice, what did it sound like?"

Stenson shrugged. "Uh... younger guy? Sad, maybe?"

Will pursed his lips, drumming his fingers against his leg before turning to glance at Chase who seemed to have finished his task. "Thank you for your help, Mr. Stenson. I'll let you get some rest." He stood from the chair, turning to leave the room with Chase, shutting the door behind him. As he did, he sent a text to Mac telling her to meet them at the exit when she was ready. As he was about to put his phone away, it vibrated with an alert of its own.

He had set it up to show him local news stories -- apparently another victim had gone missing nearby. "Shit," he remarked quietly. "Another abduction, not far," he turned toward Chase. "Were you able to get any kind of scent off those clothes?"

Elijah arched an eyebrow at Ashley-May's proposition, running his tongue along his lower lip before nodding. "Run along. I'll grab the cookies," he said, returning her wink. He took a self-indulgent moment to watch her leave the kitchen before turning to don the oven mitt and remove the sweets from the oven and put them out to cool before tossing the mitt onto the counter and following Ash to the bedroom, locking the door behind them.

The former Alpha continued to remain deadly still for a time, the only movement coming was the mess of black hair that danced every time the wind blew. Without so much as a finger twitching in warning, the fox shot to his feet and looked at the compound gates, his swaying uncertain. He took three quick pats against his face and blinked in a mixture of confusion and surprise.

The fox let out a short laugh at his own mistake.
"Oh my. I seem to have missed the inside by a fair margin, How embarrassing~" He gave his head a good shake, both to clear the fuzziness that had gathered at the corners of his vision that had accumulated from falling face first onto the ground, and to clear what dirt might have gathered on his face and in his hair. No sooner than he had done so, he moved with such speed it seemed as though he almost disappeared from sight and landed on the top of the gate with unsure footing and took a few stumbling steps forward to regain his balance.

His body swayed again with uncertainty as though it couldn't decide if it wanted to be on the ground or continue being upright. The fox let a wide mischievous grin creep across his face and gave an almost content sigh. "Now, let's see what sort of mischief I can get myself into~" With another quick movement, the fox jumped down the gates and disappeared into the Vitae.

Mackenzie lost herself in though as she skimmed through various historical records searching for key words. It felt like years since she'd last been on a hunt, much less something as obscure as this. She couldn't remember the last time she had been on the road looking for something she'd never heard of. Researching (as boring as she thought it was when she was a kid), travelling, horrible hotels --or sleeping in the car-- roadside food. She missed it.

She blinked as she felt her phone vibrate in her pocket, fishing it out she found a text from Will telling her to meet up with him and Chase at the exit. She'd found enough, or rather, little to nothing historically and copied the files. Folding the sheets haphazardly she stuffed them into her jeans pocket and headed out of the records room, back the way she'd come.

With the questions over Chase followed Will out into the hallway, still partially lost in his own head over the scents even as they started moving. It wasn't until Will spoke up that he paid attention, another victim, that was quick. "It's...complicated. Yes and no? I think the parts he steals are retaining their original owners scent, which makes sense. But at the same time they should mold to his scent over time." While he knew the man was a hunter and had some understanding of how scents worked for a Werewolf, he had to think it wasn't the easiest thing to wrap one's head around. "So it was like smelling into a bag of assorted flavored chips." Chase gave a sheepish smile, it was the best example he could come up with on the fly. "I couldn't pinpoint which one was his, or which ones were just hospital staff exactly. But I'm trying to keep them all fresh in my mind so if I catch a whiff of one of them while we're out I take notice." Though this was easier said than done given the amount he'd smelled, and he partially regretted not just making off with the bag given the victim wouldn't have noticed.

"How long ago were the other attacks? It almost seems like he's trying to get a fresh batch of...well, everything. Maybe there's more going on here, or maybe it's just his annual cleansing of old parts." Chase shrugged, keeping his eyes ahead as they moved through the halls. The case sure was a doozy if nothing else. "How far away is it?" He asked curiously as the entrance came into view.

William walked with Chase as he listened to the wolf's explanation about the scents, nodding as they went. When Chase asked how far away the abduction was, Will felt Mac's presence drawing nearer and held onto his answer, knowing Chase was likely confused by his lack of reply. He simply nodded to a nearby cross-hall as Mac emerged from it moments later, dropping into step alongside them without a word, handing over the copies of several records. Looking them over would have to wait until they dealt with the most recent abduction.

With the three of them now together and stepping outside, Will finally answered Chase's question. "The victim was jogging just east of here, at Canal Park, when they were abducted. The baseball diamond." Zooming in on the map on his phone, he showed the area in detail. "If Benton is keeping to his old habits -- and he is all about his habits -- then he's going to want somewhere remote. Rural, even. Somewhere quiet he can set up shop, near a source of running freshwater to dump what's left when he's done. The problem is that there's a metric fuckton of good candidates to the north and south of us: two parks, a river, and a reservoir, all within a short drive."

Will clicked the phone's display off, pocketing the device. "So I say we go to the Park and sniff around. Literally, in your case." He allowed himself the slightest hint of a smile directed at Chase. "Try to pick up that scent so we can at least try to narrow down the possibilities of where his lair might be."

Mackenzie followed the pair outside, only glancing at the digital map briefly but listening intently. She wasn't sure what the results of their 'investigation' with the live victim had been and could only assume that there was another or on going attack nearby. She wrinkled her nose in thought before glancing over Chase briefly. "Can you carry a phone when you're a wolf?"

She walked alongside the two men as they made their way back to the truck. "If there are multiple places he could be we would split our resources, we'll be less suspicious if we don't wander around in a group... Will can drop me off at the reservoir, since it'll be the biggest place to look, then let Chase out at the river; he'll be able to run the banks as a wolf faster than either of us could jog it." She looked back to Will. "Then you can check out the parks - anyone catches a hint that he's around we'll call it in and wait for the others to catch up."

Chase was surprised to hear that the man they were tracking grabbed someone else so close and so soon, it almost seemed desperate considering how long Benton was supposed to have been doing this. Will's plan was sound, and he'd been about to agree when their third partner's question chimed in. "More or less." He answered with a dubious shake of the head. Technically no, but if he left his phone in his jean pocket and carried the clothing using his mouth then technically he could. Trying to run around with a phone in his mouth while in wolf form was a disaster waiting to happen. Either the phone would end up damaged, swallowed, or he'd choke on it and die. This was known from experience, sadly.

Chase glanced about the parking lot as Mackenzie countered Will's plan with one of her own. Briefly he wondered if the pair were going to quarrel over which to choose, or force him to be the deciding vote. Opting not to wait and see he simply got into the back seat of the truck, they didn't have time to stand around and figure it out when they could do that while driving.

William mulled over Mackenzie's plan in his head, watching Chase out of the corner of his eye as the wolf departed to make his way for the truck. Returning his attention to his fiancee, he took a deep breath before replying calmly. "Chase's nose is the best lead we have and he thinks he's got Benton's scent. It's not far to the abduction site from here. I say we swing by and let him see if he can pick anything up first -- at least narrow our playing field. Even if we split up like you suggested, we're still talking about miles of ground to cover. If this works, though, we could end up at Benton's doorstep. If Chase loses the scent, we can always fall back on your plan. What do you think?" he asked, his tone low and genuine. He had asked her on this hunt not to appease her, but because he had wanted her here -- her input mattered to him, even if they didn't always agree.

Mackenzie frowned at Chase as he seemed less than enthused by the suggestion. Perhaps she should have been clearer; they fashion some kind of bag or strap it to him rather than the wolf running around with a cell phone in his mouth. It didn't seem to matter, however, as Chase headed to the truck Will was already shutting down her potential plans. She narrowed her eyes at him, doing her best to try and determine if his insistence on sticking to his plan was because he believed it was a better chance at catching Benton or if it was his never ending need to try and keep everyone around him protected under his watchful eye.

Eventually she relented, simply nodding as she didn't have anything productive to add to his and Chase's plan. She turned to head to the truck herself but paused, stepping in towards the large man and standing on her toes so she could deliver a quick kiss to his cheek. She turned back to the truck and headed the way Chase had gone.

Seeing the two interact through the windshield it was clear they weren't at odds and a plan had indeed been decided upon. Chase waited until they'd gotten in and were on their way before speaking up, "So what's the plan then? Am I running the river or the park?" He asked, partially amused at the fact that he had an arguably large part in either one and that the others caught onto that. He knew all too well that his senses were a boon when it came to tracking someone down, even if this particular someone's scent was an outlier of sorts.

William wasn't sure if Mackenzie was going to argue with him about his plan or not, though he was relieved when she nodded. He couldn't help but smile at the kiss she planted on his cheek, nor the affectionate warmth that filled his chest along with it as he followed after her and Chase. When they reconvened at the truck, Will shook his head. "We're heading to the baseball diamond." He glanced up at the sky, darkening slightly with the oncoming evening. "Probably better you shift here. We'll drop you off there and see if you can pick up a scent. Just a couple out for a stroll with their... dog," he said, his smirk returning. "Guess I should have brought a leash."

Mackenzie glanced to Chase in the back seat of the truck as he questioned what had been decided. She couldn't help but smile and make a face as Will suggested that they would imposter a couple and their pet. "Awe, that's so sweet." She did her best to mock an excited Ashley-May. "I always wanted a pet!" She stuck her nose out at the wolf as she buckled her seat belt in. "I'm pretty sure Ash sent you and Emile leash: any chance you brought it with you?"

Chase had no time to retaliate on Will's leash comment before Mackenzie followed up with what he imagined was an attempt to parrot Ashley. What he didn't realize was Ash's gag gift had been shared with the class so it would seem, and oh she'd pay for that later. The man rolled his eyes, "You can both kiss my ass." He stated whilst stripping out of his shirt, Will's reasoning for shifting here was sound. Leaning forwards he pushed his upper half between the front seats so that he could reach the rear view mirror and tilted it upwards, then started messing with the nobs and buttons of the radio. "Avert your eyes heathens." With that he cranked up the volume before allowing himself to fall once again into the backseat. Once the pair had looked away and he'd glanced around through the truck windows just in case there were wandering eyes elsewhere he started stripping out of the rest of his clothes. It wasn't until then that he really picked up on the temperature difference, it was a bit cooler here in Ohio than Nebraska. He'd likely not paid it any attention due to how they'd suddenly and violently been transported here in the first place.

Will and Mackenzie looking away was enough for decency, but the radio and mirror direction change was more about the discomfort of them being able to see or hear him shift into his other form especially in an enclosed space. Speaking of, it wasn't exactly a comfortable place to change but out in the open of a hospital parking lot wasn't much better. He'd waited a moment and taken a deep breath before feeling the change begin, that feeling of bones breaking and re-forming that he'd become accustom but not numb to. Once the transformation was finished the Wolf opted to lay down along the back seat. He gave out a pitch of a yelp in an attempt to let them know he was done over the radio's noise, and to hopefully turn the radio back off. In his fluster he hadn't thought about how unhappy his ears would be to the blaring music once he'd shifted.

William couldn't help but grin as Mackenzie joined in on razzing Chase (deservedly or otherwise), mentioning Ashley-May's gift to the man. Somehow he doubted that helping to sell a cover during a monster hunt in Ohio was what the woman had intended when she gave him the leash in question. In any case, Chase seemed to take the teasing in stride, leaning forward to turn the radio up and command them to turn away. Catching on, Will did as he was told. He was able to make out only a few select sounds from the shifting process -- it's hard to miss shifting bone and flesh once you know it's happening inches behind you, music or otherwise -- but thankfully the din of the punk rock managed to block out the worst of it.

He jumped in surprise when he heard a yelp, glancing reflexively toward the rear view mirror only to remember that Chase had tilted it away. Will turned around and saw the tan-furred canine staring at him silently, almost pleadingly before looking at the radio. Hendrix made the connection and nodded, reaching over to shut the device off. It was a welcome relief for his (and, he was sure, Mac's) ears, he could only imagine what it had felt like for the wolf's enhanced senses.

With that taken care of, he readjusted the mirror and buckled himself in before starting the short drive toward the park. It didn't take long, sticking mostly to side streets. As they neared the baseball diamond, there were more and more patrol cruisers on the roads as the late afternoon sky gave way to evening. Will pulled off into a public parking lot within easy walking distance of the baseball park -- no doubt this was an area frequented by joggers and was estimated to be somewhere in the vicinity of where the victim, Danielle Stoakes -- had gone missing. "All right, you two," Hendrix said, shutting off the truck. He unbuckled his seat belt before stepping out and rounding the truck to open Chase's door. "Let's play ball."

After a couple hours, Tara and Ginny walk out of the house, the cat cradled in the djinn’s arms carefully. “Do you think we have a vet here?” Ginny asks. Tara shrugs. “Hell if I know. But man,” she sneezes. “Cat smells weird, kid. Like… incense, almost? Little bit floral too.” Ginny shrugs. “I can’t smell anything.” She says, listening to the cat’s rumbling purr.

Mackenzie frowned at Chase as he leaned forward between the seats, turning away the mirror and chastising them. The moment the radio was turned up she came to realize his intent. She'd heard wolves shift before, something that haunted her nightmares since her childhood (among many, many other things). She raised her hands and pressed her fingers tightly against her ears, blocking the canals to the best of her abilities and squeezed her eyes closed. She didn't want to hear his change as much as he didn't and had she a little more warning she would have exited the vehicle instead of sitting not a foot away.

Thankfully she heard nothing, save for the wolf's yelp to signal the end. She sat quietly for the duration of the drive to the park with mixed feelings. She could feel her heart racing, beating in her ears. She knew she had nothing to fear from Chase but he wasn't Chase now, he was a wolf. It made no sense to her but made perfect sense at the same time. Every instinct in her screamed at her to reach down for the knife on her belt and kill it before he had a chance to kill her. She forcibly shoved her hands beneath her legs. She didn't move until Will had stopped the car and exited himself, releasing the wolf out into the parking lot.

Once she felt she had her shit together, only thirty seconds or so, she opened the passenger door and stepped out. She took a second to double check she had her personal weapons on her; her three blades (with distinct purposes) and her pistol before she closed the door and rounded the back end of the truck to meet up with Will and the wolf.

The wolf sat quietly laid out across the backseat of the truck for the drive to the park. The fact that Mackenzie never once glanced back at him and sat stiffly wasn't lost on him, despite the rendezvous' back when he'd been reporting to them from the pack, it seemed she was still uncomfortable with his shifted presence. Chase didn't blame her really, knowing some of her past experiences with Werewolves it made sense. Once the truck halted and Will stepped out and opened the back door the Wolf stood and lurched forwards to hop out, paws hitting the asphalt below. He'd paused just outside the truck, nose already taking in the environments smells whilst turning his head to investigate their surroundings. The fact that he was in the midst of town, in broad daylight, and could hear people in all directions while he was in this form made him uneasy. This wasn't typically the route Chase would take during a hunt but their choices were limited and he wasn't about to back down now. Pushing forwards with some mustered courage he started trotting with nose to the ground, at a speed that his two partners might have a hard time keeping up while looking inconspicuous. Honestly he wasn't bothered and they deserved it.

It was clear the direction he was headed towards was the ballpark and whatever wooded area was nearby considering the scent wafting from that direction, so he knew he was going the right way more or less. And if by some chance he wasn't he suspected Will would call out, if he was looking at a map of the area. The wolf paused on the sidewalk once he'd reached the road. Luckily traffic wasn't terribly busy and after two cars passed by he lurched forwards into a sprint, crossing the street quickly before once again resuming his search for the scent. Something familiar caught his nose but if Chase was honest he wasn't sure if it was one of the smells from the bag or not, there had been too many differing smells to remember them all fully. It did however cause him to turn his head curiously as he tried to pinpoint why it had been familiar. Opting not to think but simply go, he kept following the fresh green smell down the sidewalk until it turned into a rather strong seafood smell that caused the wolf to sneeze harshly. Once he looked up Chase noticed a group of people watching him in shock from the parking lot of what he imagined was a Seafood Restaurant. Only in this brief moment of becoming rather aware that he wasn't being subtle did he glance behind him to see if Will and Mackenzie were keeping up or if crossing the street had proven difficult for them.

William checked his own weapons before gathering Chase's clothes into a gym bag, slinging it over his shoulder. As he did, something caught his eye. He smiled, reaching down grab it from under the driver's seat and knowing full well that Chase wouldn't approve. He shut the truck door and locked the vehicle, stepping away to Mackenzie's side. He reached out to take her hand, giving it a gentle squeeze as he met hey eye. He hadn't missed her reaction to Chase's shift or the way she could hardly look at him even now. Her muscles were tense and even now he could feel the anxiety rolling off her in waves every time he moved. "Hey. You all right?" he murmured.

She didn't have a chance to respond. Will saw Chase put his nose down and start moving at a not-insignificant pace out of the corner of his eye. "Shit," he remarked under his breath, he and Mac hurrying to keep up. With how he was moving, Hendrix hoped Chase had a good fix on the scent. It was either that or he was bound and determined to lose them and start a new life for himself here in Akron. I'm not going to be the one to tell Emile.

Jogging after the canine, it soon became unnecessary to glance down periodically at his phone. They were headed toward an intersection and -- beyond -- the ballpark. Will grimaced watching Chase sprint across the street, but was relieved to see him pause on the other side. William -- still holding onto Mac's hand -- stopped at the crosswalk, glancing quickly to ensure no cars were coming before running across the road. He was thankful for the Grace and the extra endurance it gave him right about now.

It didn't take long to see what had caused Chase to stop. He had collected a series of onlookers. Some were reaching for their phones. Will reacted quickly, putting on his best smile and jogging forward, holding up the item he had collected from the truck in his free hand: a nylon rifle sling, but at this distance it would pass for a leash. "Sorry!" he called out. "He slipped out of his collar," Will said shaking his head with a resigned "what can you do?" shrug to those in the parking lot. A few chuckled. William walked around so that he could kneel in front of Chase, with his back to the parking lot. "Sorry about this," he murmured, tying the sling around the wolf's "mane" as loosely as possible. As he finished, he heard a woman clearing her throat behind him and stood up.

"Excuse me. My son was wondering if--" she started.

"Can I pet your puppy?!" the boy -- no older than five -- chimed in, cutting off his mother while practically jumping in place with excitement.

Mackenzie couldn't get past the feeling that she and Will had made a grievous mistake, that they'd loosed a wolf on the general public and soon enough Chase would show his true colours, he'd bolt and take off after the nearest innocent to shred them to death. Or worse, he'd leave them alive to let them turn and kill their loved ones on the next full moon. That's what wolves do, right? Murderous rampage?

"Hey. You all right?" She blinked, surprised by the gently but firm squeeze on her hand and the tall man standing next to her, she'd forgotten what they were doing, why they were doing this. However before she could not he was cursing and she could see why. Chase was moving-fast-away from them, she doubted she would have been able to keep up on her own if it hadn't been for Will nearly dragging her alongside of him. Her free hand reached for the grip of her pistol, she didn't have silver bullets, how she could be so unprepared! At the very least she knew a few regular bullet should slow him down enough for her to get at him with her silver blade.

She was shocked to see Chase cross the road and then sit, as though he were a dog, and wait for them. Once again Mackenzie became painfully aware of how focused she'd been on Chase and his potential and not what they were here for. She looked around at the onlookers, several of which were taking out their phones to take pictures. She turned around swiftly as the sound of the child's voices within feet of them, how did they get so close?

"Best not," She said attempting to smile pleasantly though she knew very well it was a pure grimace. "He's a new rescue, we're taking him out for a run to see where he is socially and it hasn't been great so far." SHe waved at the wolf as Will slid the lead over his neck. "Keeps taking off on us, not sure what else he'll do." She was satisfied when the woman reached for her boy and dragged him several feet away from them. "We'll be around every few days." She attempted to reassure. "Maybe when he's doing better with training he'll be able to have pets."

Chase eyed Will as the man knelt down with the intent to leash him. Of course he'd decided only to even bring this up after Chase had shifted and was unable to audibly argue against it. He had to resist the urge to simply trot off and ignore it completely but they needed to not draw so much attention, and this helped with that. Instead the wolf simply grumbled as Will slipped the rifle sling around his neck.

"Excuse me. My son was wondering if--" she started.

"Can I pet your puppy?!" the boy -- no older than five -- chimed in, cutting off his mother while practically jumping in place with excitement.

Oh hell no. No sooner had he been leashed had someone spoken up about letting a child pet him and Chase quickly stood back up on all fours, already taking a step back to avoid that scenario completely, even if it meant dragging Will's ass across this pavement. Luckily Mackenzie stepped in and talked them out of being interested, he'd have to thank her for that one later. With that being done the wolf started once again following the scent. Chase tried to ignore the grip from the makeshift leash as he moved, despite the mild discomfort and the lack of freedom feeling. It led West, through the parking lot. Chase could both smell and hear water, not exactly fresh, so it wasn't a river. As they hit the other side of the parking lot he began hearing the static frequency of radio's, telling him that they were nearing whatever police presence was out here. The greenery came into view along with what he now realized was a canal which explained things. Briefly he paused on the walking trail area, having lost the scent, the wolf's head sniffing up at the air before lowering once again to the ground below as it paced back and forth trying to get back on track.
