Detective Marshall

Walking into the hotel with his hand rested in his trenchcoat pocket, Dunnie at his side. "Hey there, beautiful." He offered a small smile to his wife, hand-pulled from his coat to pat Dunnie on the shoulder. "Yea, she's the surprise. Her names Dunnie, don't let appearances fool you. She is very much my brand of crazy." A small chuckle was earned from the comment of Sylvia being prettier in person. "Yea, pictures don't do her justice. Most beautiful woman I know. I'll look over the notes, sure. I'm probably going to pull a few tricks from my sleeve to help us... In regards to Dunnie...I'm going to be busy tomorrow. The sort of busy I can't bring you along for."

He offered an apologetic smile, glancing between Sylvia and Adam. "I suppose I could let you hang out in the car with stuff to keep you entertained. I don't see any harm in it. Just promise not to run off or anything, okay?" Reaching into his pocket, he handed Dunnie a small keychain, consisting of a family picture, a small squishy Dagon attached to it, and the car keys. "Well be right here until you get back. Grab what you want from the car and come back, okay? Make sure you hit this to lock it up again, and this to unlock it." He pointed out the lock and unlock button and gave her a pat on the shoulder. "We parked really close to the entrance, so you'll be fine."

Turning his attention to Sylvia he straightened up, hands going in his pockets again. "Alright so, what do we have thus far? Names, and locations on where they want to meet? Is it going to be in the rooms, or do they prefer to meet in the lobby? This the sort of occasion where I'm going to have to do a little more prying than usual?"

The car ride was back to routine as far as she'd gathered from this family. Bicker bicker bicker...she'd be lying if she said she didn't slip in a few wisecracks here and there as well. Plopping down on the edge of Darren's bed she reached out, giving him a small pat on the leg. "All good, love. I'm proud of you, you hung in there. This wasn't too bad...then again, I got to watch Agas ragdoll your uncle and slam your dad, that was pretty damn amusing. But you pulled through, and I'm happy for you. Remember, I'm in your corner. I'm not letting him pull you off anywhere, no matter what. Don't doubt me there."

She stood up, stretching her arms over her head. "Alright, I'm gonna standby for now. I'll let you know if I head out, alright? Can I get you anything? Ice pack? Fluffy blanket?"

A soft laugh escaped her, followed by a shrug. "I'm a little hyper, I'll admit. But I'm more than just pure energy, I try to stay educated...I'm probably gonna try to stop you, as soon as I have a better understanding of the situation. The ramifications of this study are too broad and have wide-reaching effects. Not only that, but it is my job, right? You do seem nice enough, even if this is scientific curiosity." She gave a slight laugh, shrugging. "Heroes are indeed a variable that's hard to account for because each one acts in a different fashion. But so do civilians, the human mind varies from person to person. Sure, there are general commonalities, but there are differences for each person."

Rolling her ball up the ramp, she winced as she gave it too much force...resulting in it bouncing off the rim and bouncing back to knock the face of her helmet. She was silent for a few minutes before she busted out laughing. "Gonna win? Who said I was good at skee ball? I just said I loved it!" Taking another roll, she heaved a huff as it rolled into a 50...that's not what she wanted. "Yea, I'm in college. I can tell you that because it helps you in no way or fashion about who I am. You're right, there's a lot of younger heroes going around right now..." At the question of if the O.A was her motivation she fell silent, the jokes gone for now. "No...no really. I was raised on the east coast, so the L.A attack was just a sad story to hear about, a terrorist attack to us to read about, but a nightmare to people here. No, nothing so glamorous. My motivation decided it'd hit me in the face, and I had to decide if I was a man or a mouse. I was out one day when a massive hotel caught fire. The firefighters were on scene, and police were doing what they could but...I could hear the screams. I could hear family crying for their loved ones, and how they might perish in the flames. I had the choice to walk away, leave it to someone else. I decided to act instead. I moved, and I moved fast. I emptied the hotel, and it collapsed just moments after I did."

She rolled another ball, watching it sink into a ten-hole. "Hero is just a title. Policemen are heroes, firemen are heroes, even actors can be heroes. What defines a hero is their willingness to act, to do the right thing, to help those in need. Was I scared? Yes, dead scared. I'm honestly still pretty spooked right now. Everyone feels fear, my mother always said you have to be crazy to not feel fear. But it takes a hero to face that fear with their head held high, and go forward anyways. That's why this study is going to cause trouble in some ways. You think heroes are hard to account for, but you don't register that some people don't run when they get scared. They tuck in their shirt, take a deep breath, and they run towards what scares them." Her bout of philosophy done she rolled the ball again, but once again too hard...and once again being hit in the head. "Oh c'mon!"

El Port High-Security Prison

The prisoners, though non-super, weren't idiots. They were here for good reason, the lot of them. They knew what they were doing, and as such didn't just dump all their bullets at the threat. In truth, once they realized it wasn't going to do any good, a lot of them stopped firing. A shout of 'FUCK' could be heard as the whip was formed, though not quite in enough time for every inmate to take cover. About half of them hit the deck, just in time as the ribbon of energy cleaved through the fortifications and companion alike. As the dust began to clear, inmates were already starting to run back into the prison from whence they came, leaving dying comrades on the ground. The fortifications had already begun to crumble, either through the lash of the whip itself or from it's energy, it didn't really matter.

The police didn't make a sound, their suppressing fire having dimmed to silence as well. Was this something they cheered over, or gawked at in fear? What the hell had even happened? Did they move in to help, or did they stay put? There were still hostages inside, not to mention wounded and dying...but this hero didn't seem like the kind who might especially care. No gunfire continued to pierce the air, and authorities stood on the sideline in confusion on what they could or should do in this situation. That was half of the escapees or damn near, laying dying on the ground. Did they pity them, or triumph in their defeat? It was hard to say.

The convicts that had hurried into the prison ran through the halls in hordes, desperate to find another way out. Others went to where the hostages were kept, barricading themselves with them to use them as living shields if they had too. They had lost their momentum, and they obviously were in no position to bargain. A small few, perhaps the sane, returned to their cells by themselves and sat in a corner, hands resting atop their heads as they curled in on themselves in submissive defeat. Some force had given them a chance to escape, and that chance was so close...and now it was gone.

"Well... Can you teleport?" the girl asked with a chuckle, shrugging, "It'll be hard for you to stop me, but I like you, kid. I'm kind of rooting for you... is that weird to say? You have so much life to you, and you clearly became a hero for good reasons. Hell, you're like... straight out of a comic book. I like heroes that do the job for the right reasons... unfortunately there are a lot of heroes that... well... that are just plain awful. They do it for fame, they don't care about civilians caught in the crossfire, they feel like they have a license to kill whenever they please... lots of types, but all of them are despicable."

She got another ball in the 500 point hole, "Yes! Okay, maybe you are bad at this game. Stop hitting yourself in the head! You need to roll slower. Roll slower than you think you need to. I always roll too fast, and I'm not even a speedster."

"So..." she paused, looking her way, "Would you prefer to get this over with and just have a fight or something? I'm a researcher, not a fighter... Or maybe we can pick a game and I'll just honor a deal? Whoever wins. If I win I continue, if you win I'll stop and leave?"

Machina
The girl looked at Machina with a hint of annoyance, "I'm not a ghost, hero. I'm also not actually a child. I've decided to play nice with you because your friend has actually lifted my mood quite a bit. She's a good sort of person. To update you, I'm running a little spot of research on fear reactions. You heroes don't count for the data, you're not my target audience."

She leaned over the side of the gondola for the ferris wheel, looking at the mist below, "How long have you been a hero for? I don't keep that up to date with the big names - I don't find the paparazzi game fun."

As Cassie attempted to calm herself down after the song, Muse was already blushing and trying her best to resist the urge to apologize to Kali for making her smile. "I-I'm sure you're fine, Miss Panzer! Your smile is probably beautiful." She paused and squirmed a little, not sure where to rest her eyes, "S... so it really was good?" Muse stood and headed back to the kitchen, wanting to chat away from the poor woman.

Once in relative private with Panzer, she spoke up again, "I... um... I could show you other emotions I can simulate? I mean... you name it and I can manage. It's way more effective when the person is willing, of course... but uh... yeah. O... obviously, I wouldn't want to overwhelm poor Cassie... I already have to an extent... but uh... I can show you others. Stuff more useful in battle maybe? I want to show you I can be useful. I... I can make people feel fear. That one could be useful in a fight. When people are afraid, they make mistakes... right?"

Jewel was lucky her spell was already coming to an end as she saw Chrysos get flung across the room, because she doubled over with laughter, "That's what you get! Oh my gods, having you around is like a constant comic relief." She took a few moments to calm her laughter before explaining to Sherm what just happened, "Don't worry too much. He's got broken luck. One good thing, then one bad. Might win the lottery, then get hit by a truck outside. He's friggen durable though! I swear a god or something must get a kick out of his antics cuz somehow the trucks haven't killed him yet."

She ignored the elf lady's salty comments and nature, not even responding to it after her spell was already done.

"Alrighty now," she said, explaining the break-in, "The dude has an anti-magic setup. I'm pretty sure he's a mercenary. A very professional one, at that. Following the traces, the same guy set off the prison situation too. Probably to cause a distraction. I can try to figure out which one, just gotta pop around on some sites, check who's recently gone unavailable, etc. There's one person that sorta comes to mind, but who knows? The best way to get your information secured would be to pay the same dude to take it back from their buyer and then kill said buyer. Most good mercs won't do it while still technically employed by the first buyer, buuuut, if you get them to do it after they're all done, then it's just another job. There's a high rank sorta merc named Tactician. 'Course, I have no idea where he lives cuz he's good at his job, but I can get in contact with him. If it is him, that is."

"With weapons, the people who want them are probably overseas or villains," she continued, "If it's overseas, then you have a chance. You science sorts could disrupt a data transfer and corrupt it. That said, I'm not a science sort. I don't know how to do that or how long you'd have. All this information would take a while to upload and send, though, so hey. Maybe look into that. Lemme know if you want me to try to contact the merc after I confirm it's him, and I will."

"see? told ya this place was amazing!" scile chimed despite knowing he couldn't hear her as she entered the main field of the stadium. The guards so scared they let her pass without problem. This was the LA stadium. The closest one could probably get a coliseum nowadays. The lights were not on. But that was fine, The stormy sky gave all the light one needs. Scile looked at the knight to see he had already took position at one of the end-zone closest to the entrance they came too. Scile Simply smiled and walked to the opposite. Both stared each other down. But scile clapped her hands together. and closed her eyes."

Howsto owtré tsizhu weishala " With that she opened her eyes. Her smile gone as she took stance. Her eyes were locked on her opponent. A sword for an arm. Skull filled with malicious miasma surrounding his skirt. His left arm seemed mostly unarmored. This was to be a glorious battle. She could feel her entire body trying to tremble in excitement. She took a deep breath and exhaled. Steam filling the air in front her. "3...2...1" She thought to herself before her eyes went wide. The muscles in her legs tightened as she kicked agaisn the ground creating a crater about 5 feet in diameter and 2 feet deep. Her body being launched forward down the field.

Xiard meanwhile took his stance. His eyes darting about the stadium memorizing the layout as much as he could before locking on to his foe. Demon, Tall bulky, female. Large chest size, possible blind spot to take advantage of. 6 arms. No weapons. Brawler, berserker. No.... Monk. The stance gives it away. Clothes dont look that arm, but possible enchantments or materials. Magic capabilities unknown. Having got as much as he could just from sight her lowered his body. Left hand gripping the ground as he prepared to go at her. "3...2... 1" He said before dashing down the field a black and blur gray to most. The two reached the center of the field in only a matter of 2 seconds. Xiard swinging his sword downward in a diagonally path as Scile counter with her bare fist. The two clashing the force of which left cracks in the ground as wind swirled about the stadium. Sciles fist seemed equal to the blades sharpness. But scile still had 5 other fists. Smiling she kept pressing against the blade as she deliver a left hook straight to Xiards helmet. Xiard taking it willingly as he backed up. Allowing the punch to send him farther while minimizing the force received. Retaining his form he prepared for another attack, That of which he did not have to wait for, for as soon as he had looked up Scile was already infront of him. Delivering 3 punches from her left side. Xiard instantly raised the side of his blade while pivoting to the side essentially grinding the Blade against her arms. Using the momentum of the punches he carried it into a spin and Delivered a sing right to the side of her stomach. Scile was unable to Block it in time and had to take the brunt of the blow launching her into the stands causing an impact crater. Before scile could even Stand xiard chased after and jumper into the air above the stands and began his descent. Beginning to a downward slash. Scile responded in kind standing up and grasping the blade mid air withstanding the force travelling through her increasing the impact crater beneath her. While she still had his sword grasped she grasped his head with two hands and pulled him down slamming her knee straight into the face of the helmet. The sound resembling two cars crashing into eachother as the force of the knee sending Xiard into the air, before he could react he could feel the last two hands of scile grab his left leg and proced to slam him into the congrete ground of the stands. As he was trying to get up her main hand grabbed the back of his helmet and slammed it back into the concrete keeping him there. She began dragging xiard through th concrete as she ran leaving a clear trail of where his head was being smashed through. "I am Not so easy to restrain!" Xiard yelled grabbing one of the skulls on his skirt and crushing it within his barehand. A scream resounding as dark miasma flooded from it before turning into black fog like spears stabbing into scile sending her out of the stands and back onto the field. Xiard got up and cracked his neck removing rubble from his mask. The battle had only just begun.

sylviahero.pngThe Hotel Robbery
"That's fine, hun. I'll probably just do some research tomorrow and spend time at home with M&M," Sylvia offered with a shrug as Dunnie looked over the keys with a face of pure curiosity. Well... she was gonna be weird, right? Did the kid not know what car keys were? She had some bandages on... and those clothes weren't normal. Was she okay? Gah. Sometimes Sylvia really hated that she couldn't get involved in his jobs. Her desire to help was way too strong, and while she had been slowly gaining a little immunity to it like one does over time to poison, that didn't mean it was pleasant, and nor could she push it. That was asking to get crippled.

Dunnie plodded off to hopefully not consume the car or something, and Sylvia could focus on Adam once again. She sighed a little, "In their rooms, yeah. I think that's in part the hotel's preference too. They don't want the hit to business, after all. I get it." She swatted away a little orb that nearly bonked into her face with annoyance, "Karen Olfager, Peter Dunlap, Ulster Oragen, Yu Myles, Sally Jacobs, and Rita Finigan. We can start whenever. It's after breakfast, so unless they're out doing something, we have a good chance of catching them while they're in the rooms."

Dunnie returned shortly, hugging to her frame the electronic tablet. She opened an eyespot on her cheek and produced the keys from it, which she then gave back to Adam. Sylvia just stared for a long moment, "... Well... I guess that sort of answers my question. Sweetheart please don't do that sort of stuff near me. I am unfortunately just as squishy as most, unlike Adam. Stuff like that can give me a headache at the best of times. All the same, that's a pretty useful method of storing stuff, I suppose."

She sighed and shook her head clear again, "Right. Anyway. Feel free to play with the tablet, Hunny. There should be a lot of games on there, or you could watch some shows or movies. Adam, is she gonna come with or stay in the lobby?"

Either way, they were ready to go now.

1599250162337.pngThe first woman, Karen Olfager, was in her room with her wife when they knocked, and her wife was the one to open the door.

They were both beautiful women in their mid-forties, Karen with short grey hair and an eccentric feel to her, and the wife of Karen with dark brown hair in a thick braid to one side. She looked relieved to see them there and concerned for her wife. "Hello! Please, come in, come in," she ushered, motioning for them to sit on the en-suite sofa, "I'm Delilah. This is Karen."

"I told her we didn't need to do this, but she insisted," Karen said with an eye roll, arms folded.

"Yes, well, she doesn't remember giving away a very expensive necklace, watch, and two-hundred dollars that she had on her at the time. I'd say it was worth meeting with you guys at the very least. If I was there, or if she was in her right mind, then either one of us would have said hell no and kicked their ass to the curb... whoever they are."

Velocity

Velocity waved her hand as if to say 'oh c'mon', blowing a puff of air. "Teleporting is for suckers. I don't need to teleport, I'm faster. Teleporters can't exist in two spaces at one time, right? Well, there's a split second where they're no here at all, during their jump. I just have to move faster than that split second. It's like a stopwatch for me, can I beat the timer, make it to the finish line? I say, yes, I can." She glanced over to the 'child' shrugging a bit. "Admittedly, a little weird. The nicest thing any person I've tried to stop has told me is I'd make a great rug. I don't like people who became heroes just because they could, or it meant being in the spotlight..." She rolled another ball, scoring 100. "You know, I managed to meet Stan Lee once, at a comicon in new york? I showed up as is, because y'know...heroes. But he liked me...said I had that sort of feeling that I'd do whatever it take to help another person. I like to think he was right. He even autographed something, it was sooooo cool!"

She really didn't want to fight this person, they weren't doing anything openly hostile. Fucked up research, sure, but not...hostile? Plus, she was already going to be in a losing fight. A game bet...now THAT'S something she could do. Spinning her attention on her, a wide grin crept over her lips behind her mask. "There's an arcade here, right? Every arcade has games, and every arcade has Dancerush Stardum. We will settle this like adults...dance-off! The one who does the best, score-wise, wins! You game? It's not like I have an unfair advantage, I'm only a little taller than you...honestly, since this is just a false mask you're wearing, you're probably taller than me." A soft laugh escaped the 4'8 speedster, shrugging. "Everyone's taller."

"Right, makes sense. It'd be bad for the hotels business if it had two detectives doing questioning in the center of their lobby. Plus it would be uncomfortable for those affected by this, so I'm not really surprised." A soft chuckle escaped him at his wife swatting away the spirit orb, poor girl drew them like moths to a flame. Flipping out his notepad and pen he started to jot down the names as he got them, nodding along in silence. He knew she had it by now, but it was a force of habit to keep notes of everything. "I say the sooner we start, the better luck we'll have through the day. It leaves us more time to burn."

Taking the keys from the newly returned Dunnie and pocketing them, he gave the girl a pat on the shoulder. "Yea, please just stay as you are while we're in public or around Sylvia, okay? Like we said, humans are squishy. I'm just not squishy in that department. A bullet will still find I'm plenty squishy though." Turning his attention to Sylvia he paused for a moment, considering it. "Probably best she tags along with us, at least until I get tomorrow sorted out. She won't cause trouble, she's a sweetheart." Following his wife to their first stop in the hotel, he offered a small smile to the women inside, coming inside at the ushering.

"Thank you for seeing us, we'll try not to take too much of your time. I'm Detective Marshall, and this is my partner Silver Sylvia. We're looking into the recent robberies here, as you know. We'd like to ask a few questions, and I'd like to do a thing or two of my own sort to try to get some answers, if that's fine? Sylvia here will host the questions, and I'll do my thing. Though, I must ask, do you remember nothing at all, Miss Olfanger?"

Karen shrugged, "Go ahead and do as you like. No, though, I don't remember anything of the sort. I'm still half-convinced I just misplaced the things."

"All three of them? Yeah, no," Delilah returned, shaking her head, "She's not the sort to misplace important items like that. We're careful with our money. Sweetheart, you have to think this is at least weird. Stop being in denial. Please."

She frowned and gave her wife another shrug, "I don't remember it. I really don't."

"It's alright Mrs. Olfager," Sylvia offered, smiling sweetly at the woman, "Don't worry about it too much. We'll get it sorted out. I just have a few questions. Do you remember the last time you saw the jewelry?"

"I... do, I think. I remember readjusting the necklace and watch in the hallway nearby. Perhaps... oh, I don't know, ten rooms down from here. There weren't many people walking around. There was a nice young man I recall seeing. I chatted with him for a bit... and then the next time I came up to the room the jewelry was gone... along with a bit of cash," she explained, looking embarrassed to have lost anything.

"Alright. We reviewed the footage and whatnot, but there aren't cameras in most of the hallways so it was unfortunately fruitless. Can you describe this man you saw? Perhaps he noticed something and we can try to talk to him?"

"Ah...," she thought for a long moment, "I'm not very good with faces, but I do recall he had striking red hair and expressive eyes. He didn't make that dramatic of an impression, though. I doubt he'd be of any use, just a passing face and all that."

"Fair enough Mrs. Olfager. Just trying to check all the bases I can. Was there anything else that stood out about the day? Anything that seemed odd to you before you returned to the room?"

She shook her head, "Not particularly. It was an average sort of day, even good. I secured a business deal I had been working on for a while. Delilah sold one of her pieces to a collector. All around a decent sort of day. As I said, when I came back up, I noticed they were gone. I did my routine thing of taking them off, only to find there was nothing to remove. We looked all over the room for them. Delilah felt concerned so she tallied up the money in the wallet as well. That's when we found out that was missing as well."

Sylvia nodded, jotting all this down, "Alright. That's definitely concerning! I can imagine the worry. Adam, can you think of anything else we'd like to ask or see?"

Adam nodded along in silence, filling his notepad with notes as always. Ten rooms down from here...A young man with red hair and expressive eyes. And that was the last time she saw her articles. A very skilled pickpocket, perhaps? But that wouldn't explain her being so dismissive of the situation as a whole. Once someone lost something like that after a sudden meeting, they were usually suspicious at the very least. Odd, very odd. "I'd like to see something, in my usual sort. Just give me a brief moment, Sylvia. Ladies, please don't mind me, this is perfectly routine for me." He simply seemed to space out, eyes getting a slight etherial blue glow to them as he cut and stabbed through the veil of time and the past. What was the situation here, really?

Just as she said, she'd interacted with a boy as she'd described, they talked. Then he simply suggested he give her the cash and affects and she simply obliged. Now that was peculier. Seeing all he found of use for this scene he faded back to reality, blinking his eyes calmly. "Miss Olfanger, the young boy you spoke to suggested you give him your articles, and you obliged. Do you have no memory of this? If not, that's very fine, we'll get this sorted out. But no one is truly that persuasive, and you'd remember that. If that's the case, I suspect powers at work, at which case we'll approach him directly." If he could get people to do something simply on a given command, he might want to have sylvia wait outside the room during that...but he'd best tell her that after they left these women. He offered a small smile, adjusting his tie. "We'll get your affects back, I promise."

The girl just sort of blinked at Velocity, staring for a moment with skeeball in hand before letting out a laugh, "Alright then. Nice choice." She continued to roll the ball into the holes of the game. She was going to lose at the dance-off. This girl could move ridiculously fast. That being as it was, her only option was to stall a bit. She smiled a little, "I think I am a bit taller than you, yeah. Well! Let's finish our game and then we can go play some dance... whatever it was."

She tossed another ball and scrunched her nose as it fell where she didn't want it to... again. At least they were both bad at it... and she hadn't managed to hit herself in the face, unlike her new acquaintance.

The little test was going well so far. Since it was raining out, it wasn't too busy. She wasn't overwhelmed with subjects. Just the right amount to see what people did. As expected, all three fear responses were present - fight, flight, and freeze. She just needed a bit more time...

Turning her attention back to skee ball she rolled a ball again, scoring a 500 for once. "Taller than me, huh? Damn, now I wanna see what you look like. You're probably some sort of scientist, right? Since you seem to know what you're doing with this study on your hands...okay okay, I gotta know. How good looking are you? C'moooon you can tell me!" She was just teasing at this point, there was no real point hitting on villains. Plus she had college, hero stuff, her family's expectations...eugh, no time for dating. She was certain Addison would say she's got some sort of repressed emotions but eh, oh well that was because he was majoring in psychology.

"Y'know...I don't know if you actually enjoy the game, or if you're actually stalling. But me trying to drag you to an arcade won't go anywhere, I'd just wind up here again. Where we playing until one of us reached a certain score, or where we playing until the machine stopped giving us skee balls?" She rolled another ball, scoring a measly ten. Despite the fact she was doing mediocre, she enjoyed it all the same. "You know, if you weren't doing this, and I wasn't here to stop you...I think you'd be pretty cool to hang out with."

bells.pngBells
It took her the longest to find an actual police car, rather than the length it took to break into it. She had to zip around from street to street to street to... you get the idea. It was a pain. Eventually, she found her target. It was parked, still running as they often do, in front of a Stardollar Coffee. Given a bit of a run-up, she hopped at the end and slammed feet first into the window of the car. Unsurprisingly, it shattered, the bars broke, and she found herself sprawled out across the front seats of the empty cruiser.

Bells scrambled for the radio as attention was mounting on her, and yelled into the radio with the button held down as firmly as she could.

"HELLO! THIS IS BELLS. YES. THE VILLAIN. I just found an OA member at the edge of the crater! A..." she paused, glancing out the window at the very angry looking officers bounding over to her, "Apparently there's a tunnel system too. This is more important than any villain or hero junk. Just... please send some heroes over there. Near a collapsed building that's half-falling into the crater. Looks like it used to be a parking garage... Okaygottagobye!"

Bells tossed the radio to the side and managed to zip out the door and away, though she was now covered in tiny scratches from the glass... Now all she could do was wait and hope nothing went wrong.

A couple of armed men in military uniforms stood outside the door to Thomas's room. They were bickering back and forth about who would do the scary honors of waking the sleeping beast. Neither of them was enthused about the idea, and neither wanted to do it. It wasn't until Tabby, a friendly-looking, young military woman, jogged down the hallway that the issue was solved all at once. She seemed to have no fear of the man inside.

Knock to respect his privacy but assert her authority by coming in anyway.

She was smiling wide as she knocked hard, then swung open the door, "Thooooooomas! Wakey wakey eggs and bakey! Rise and shine! Gotta job to do!" Tabby plopped down onto the corner of his bed, "Feel like getting out and doing some work? It's the kind you do best~"

"Well. Second best. You are a pretty good scientist, after all," she said, pausing before continuing, "Anyway! Serious situation. I know you don't wanna do this sort of stuff, but I figure you'd be more than willing in this case. It's a little weird, but we have a strange report of an OA member near the crater and some tunnels. It's nice and far from people, so there's less damage to worry about." Tabby gave a sweet smile to the poor man, "Gosh. I bet that if your wife and daughter saw you right now, they'd be proud. You get to be fighting the biggest of baddies! Making a difference! So get up and get moving, buttercup. We go in five."

A low groan escaped the male as he opened his eyes, dreams fading away into begrudging memory...couldn't he just sleep forever? Sitting upright to rub his eyes, he groggily stared around the room before eyes landed on Tabby. Leave it to her to come in with a smile on her face and trying to get him going. "I really hate this routine..." His reservations quickly dissipated at the mention of it being O.A related. A seed of irritation sprouted in his stomach...the root of all his problems, at least in part. The first half of his problems was the fact he didn't go up with the facility as he should have. The other half was that because the O.A existed, he was toted around on a big leash with a ball and chain attached to his ankle.

Swinging his legs off the bed and rubbing the back of his head, he glared at the floor and heaved a large sigh. "Alright, I'll help. Since we're near the crater, I don't have to worry about people getting hurt as much, right?" If his wife and daughter could see him...would they be proud, or mortified? Would they seem him as the man he once was, or a monster he'd become? No..stow those thoughts away for now, dammit. His leash was being yanked, he had to go. Standing up and stretching a bit he glanced at Tabby, sighing. "I can leave as soon as we're ready. I just hope this doesn't go haywire."

The girl chuckled, "I am a scientist, yes. And I'd say I look as good as this form looks cute. I like how I look, truth be told. Unfortunately, I don't always do planned and accepted studies, so I'm labeled a villain when I don't harm anyone or steal from anyone." She gave Velocity a cheeky smile at her comment of stalling, "Maybe I am. You're the one who wanted to play a little skeeball while we talked. I was just going to go until we ran out of balls... which..." She paused as she rolled her last one, dunking it in the 500, "it looks like I did."

She sighed and started to walk towards the arcade, mulling over her options, "I think you sound like a nice person to hang out with too. Mayhaps I'll reach out to you another time. When I'm not causing you strife."

The girl looked at the game in front of them... ugh... damned speedsters. She laughed despite herself, "Alright. Time to get my ass handed to me. Do you have songs in mind? I don't play these things much."

Velocity

"Soo...what I'm hearing is...super hot, got it." She gave a laugh, rolling her last ball into a 50. DAMN, this wasn't her best time doing this. Oh well, least her soul wasn't on the line! "I see. Well, you're obviously extremely intelligent...if you ever felt like changing teams, you could probably strike a bargain, you know." Glancing at her she gave a soft chuckle, shrugging. "Yea, I did wanna do skeeball. That's on me. C'mon, let's go get this thing done!" Following the unnamed figure to the arcade she spoke up, voice relaxed. "You have to give me something I can address you by, please. I'm not going to call you 'creepy but cute ghost girl', because that doesn't work. I'm Velocity, now it's your turn. Not sure how you'll reach out to me...I'd honestly be a bit bothered if you reached me outside of work, no one should be able to do that."

Rushing up to the dancing arcade game she cycled through, c'mon there had to be something GOOD here. Oh HELL yea, they had it! "Alright, let's have a good time with this!" It hadn't even occurred to her that she had an unfair advantage when it came to the dance machine, she just thought it would be a great way to settle this without fighting! Selecting the song and stepping back onto the pad she nodded, stretching her arms across her chest one at a time. "Alright, you ready? Cause even if you're not, we're starting!"

As the Eurobeat kicked up and the step prompts started, Velocity matched it step for step at first. But given the pace and style of the song, things quickly became much more hectic. Long bars for foot slides, step markers, time, and time again. Despite this, she had no issue, for obvious reasons she'd overlooked. Her entire body felt fluid, grooving to the music at hand. No part of her was idle, her arms moving along to the dance. At some points, she outright got off her feet with one-handed lifts or flips, even a rare cartwheel, almost reminiscent of break dancing. She had completely forgotten this was a challenge between the two of them to get one of them to stop what they were doing. All there was right now was her and the music, and of course, her dance moves. She loved these damn machines! Her dad never let her run track, but he never stopped her from dancing, and she had to express herself SOMEHOW dammit!

Ruru and shard

Ruru was about to read another story before her eyes went wide seeing the shadowy figure. Immediatly throwing yami Into zuzus arms she drew her whip and with minute Movements slung the whips rope wrapping around the figure. Tightening the whipe she reached under her skirt drawing a large pistol. Aiming it directly at the figures head. "Yeah, were the lucrum family. WHo the fucks asking?" She stated cocking the hammer of her gun. This bitch was obviously some chick related to death. Grim reaper? dullahan? spirit of death? Who the fuck knows. but was important is why the fuck she was here. Mom had just been revived, so she might have come for her. In which case, Ruru would not let her even speak another word before she capped the deathly whore. However, hearing stories about her dad, she had learned that he had a knack for evading death despite impossible situations. Maybe she was here to finally reclaim his soul.... Hmmm Mom would be sad so thats a no. For now. She just kept her gun trained on the ladys head.

Shard was about to continue his tlak with ruru before his eyes went wide. Quickly without even a word her ran into the living grabbing and drawing his bow aiming it at the lady as well. "specter of death. State your reason for entering the Prince of bloods domain." He said angrily This lady reeked of death, Shard had encountered the smell many times in his battles. Not the death that was cuased by bodies or war. But the smell of the end.The smell all harbingers of death carry with them. If she was here for zuzu...Shard would personally kill her and use her skeleton to beat the grim reaper himself to death.

Sherm could only nod to the wizards explanation as he watched two of his employees peel Chrysos off the wall. "I see. Thank you for your help." He added listening to her info. A mercenary huh. "Well.... Ill have satellites begin watching overseas for anything like that. Alot of those are the type that would be needed to be tested Outside... No, I should also have some focus on military bases around here. Im not saying it was them... But I wouldn't put it pass them." Sherm didn't trust the military at all. He had frequently denied their requests for military augmentation of his vehicles. And even had to force them to sign that the only weapons on the Military grade ambulances would be on levels of self defense. It was that he found them evil.... But they were power hungry. "in any case. Secretary, can you handle that? I'll be busy with upgrading security and the likes....For now Slow down operation on GS as well." he instructed secretary nodded as she quickly ghot to work typing on the tablet she brought with her. "by the way.... Your... an alexandros right?" sherm commented turning to chrysos. "Thank your father for me. Hes helped stop raiding of warehouses I own down in san diego." was all Sherm said before he quickly returned to work next to Avro.

Chrysos could only nod and give a groan of pain as he was peeled off the wal and stood wobbily. "just... give me a sec for my chestto stop feeling like its inside out." he asked jewel ashe hunched over. Reaching into one of the many pockets he had he pulled out a syring and took the cap off. Stabbing it into his leg. His eyes shot wide open as he took a deep breath. "Woo! thats what im talking about!" he said smiling. He had just jabbed adrenaline into himself. It would let him ignore the pain for now.

Yami clapped excitedly as Ruru was about to read her another story till the floor changed. Her eyes caught it and she leaned over to watch curiously as a door formed. Her head turned to the side a little as she curled more into Ruru’s lap. Letting out a scared and nervous whine. Then the doors opened and she only grew more scared. Letting out a scared babble before she was thrown into Zuzu’s arms where she cowered in them while watching the scary figure and Ruru. She babbled at Ruru from Zuzu’s arms wanting the scary person to go away from them.

Death's Chill
The figure offered no resistance as the whip wrapped around her body, the staff of the scythe flush with her body as she was 'trapped.' If Ruru was to gaze down at the figure beneath the hood they would find...nothing but darkness. She wasn't sure what she had done to earn such hostilities, nor did she truly seem bothered by them. It seemed mortals still functioned on fight or flight, and here they chose to fight. "Who is asking? Perhaps a riddle will find your answer. You may run from me, but you will find I catch up. You may try to fight me, but I will win. You hate me, though I welcome you with a gentle embrace and kiss. You try to hide, but I will always find you. What is my name, Rurulian?" The chillingly cool voice of the figure spoke, unbothered by her predicament.

The scroll of parchment simply popped into existence again between the whip that wrapped around her, and herself. This in turn gave her enough wiggle room to adjust her scythe so that the blade kisses the whip, cutting through quite nicely and letting her come upright again. "Thank you for joining us, Shardaken." The scroll lifted into the air with its master before spoofing again, the hooded figure regarding each face for a moment. "I have not come here for your souls if that is your concern. Many a soul has been ripped from my mother's domain, and she is displeased. Zuzulian and your mother, Chrysalia, are but a few."

A pale hand reached out, placing a fingertip atop Ruru's gun in an effort to have her lower it. "I have been sent to investigate the cause of such meddling. You were my first stop, Shardaken Lucrum. You are of the few who have been affected by this, not in one way, but two. Perhaps you have answers that I do not have myself, yet. Even demonkind understands that the natural balance of all things should not be disturbed so drastically. You are not the only ones affected...the reach is far, and wide." The reaper knight adjusted it's grip on its scythe, turning its attention to Shard. "I have no interest in collecting your wife, nor you. Those were not my tasks. I am here to find the source itself...if you have information, I would like it."

The figures voice never wavered, cracked, raised, or lowered. Always even and measured, almost like it lacked any true emotion to show. The hood of the reaper's robes tilted to the side a bit as if she was cocking her head. "You have no reason to not trust me, Shardaken Lucrum. I maintain the natural balance, no more and no less. If I was here for your souls, I would be gone already."

Once they had said their pleasantries and had left the room, Sylvia flicked through her notes with a big sigh. No doubt, Adam had gotten a bunch of important information. He was such a cheaterrrr! It wasn't faaaaair! Heh... As much as it was a pain in the butt that she couldn't do it too, she had to admit it was so useful. Her husband was so amazing. She gave him a little bit of a smile, "Alright. So, it sounds like you have a good idea of what happened. I don't suppose the thief said his name?"

"We need to try to figure out who he is and where he's staying... if he's even still here. This is obviously a sweet spot for him to rob from, or he wouldn't be doing it over and over again. You're the one who saw him... what do you think we should do next?"
