Fandom Super Smash Bros. (OOC)

Main
Here
I should play Metroid and the kid Icarus games
I've been streaming KI and KI:U for my friends in Discord (this RP got me in a mood). I like to annoy them by singing a Phil Collins song every time I run into a Collin XD

When I got to the Reset Bomb level, where the Goddess of Nature, Viridi, attacks, I began singing Rush's The Trees, only for one of my friends to say they hate Rush. :C

I'm thinking of rewording this rule in regards to outside VG characters as PCs from

4. Any Canon Character that is not in Super Smash Bros. must meet one of the following criteria:

-The character comes from a game franchise with a long history of being on Nintendo consoles or being published by Nintendo (Ex. Professor Layton)
to

"-The character either comes from a video game that is a Nintendo console exclusive, or a game series with a minimum of 3 Nintendo console exclusive titles."

Would that be more specific and easy to understand?

Cool.

I've been in way too many SSB RPs that get taken over by anime, PS, and XBox characters with very, very few actual Smash Bros. in it. I want to prevent that happening here.

I thought the original rule was clear, but I still get applications from people wanting to play characters from a game that has had one game on a Nintendo console, with that same game also being on other consoles.

I think we have a good balance of Smash Bros and other right now, but I agree, outside characters should be limited. The ones we have now at least have ties to Smash somehow. But like for ones not somehow represented in Smash it should be difficult to be accepted since this isn't just a multifandom. It's specifically Smash Bros

On another note, man poor Roxas's bad day continues though he only has himself to blame for having a gun pointed at him

I’m quite pleased at the number of “canon” Smash Bros. characters we have. I’m pleasantly surprised by the lack of OCs, not that they’re bad, but sometimes they make things awkward in fandom RPs.

Hopefully Roxas’s day improves! Snake isn’t a bad guy after all!

Meanwhile, the day took a turn for the worse for Mythra’s group, especially for the ones riding Lapras! Hope they can hold their breath!

I feel like in a rp like this ocs work better as minor villains, but are awkward otherwise

And I'm sure it will as long as he doesn't say or do something stupid lmao

Mythra is about to be so angry. Not sure what exactly she's gonna do, but knowing her it wouldn't be anything nice

I half-expect her to bonk Pit on the head for getting her to sing lol

I try to make my OCs for this RP work within the setting. They’re NPCs and enemies.

Lapras thinks it’s safer to swim under the cyclones than try to dodge them.

I feel like Wii Fit would be a hard character. Like I feel a lot of their character would be OC stuff since there isn't like a lot to base on in the first place

Dbdkfbslf I actually tend to find those characters to be the easiest. There’s enough personality to get a general structure for who the character is but the concrete canon is loose enough to play around with that you don’t have to worry about accidentally writing them ooc Just like with Inkling 👀💧

Toon Link. The game shows that he's a silly, clutzy little sweet heart, but besides that there's room to play with his character. Links in general are open to interpretation, but that is intended on Nintendo's part.

I'd probably RP Wii Fit Trainer as an upbeat, positive person who's always encouraging people, even to comedic effect.

Smash Bros: *Grim-faced and preparing for war*

Wii Fit Trainer: Let's get a good stretch! 8D

*War starts*

Wii Fit Trainer: *Destroys an enemy * Feel the burn! 8D

*The day ends, everyone says good-bye and goes their separate ways*

Wii Fit Trainer: *Sees she's alone* ... PHEW! FINALLY! My face hurts SO MUCH from smiling!!

Most of the characters I'm using are pretty concrete in personality and all that. Yoshi has the most leeway and Joker is a mostly silent protag and he's flexible, but he still has plenty of canon related things about him after rping him for so long though I like to think I at least have a decent handle on him lmao

Wii Fit Trainer: *breaks someone's back over her knee* Let's try harder next time! 8D

If I wrote Wii Fit Trainer, I'd write them as a little oblivious. Their part in Galeem's first attack was hilarious, and is forever how I'll imagine Wii Fit Trainer at any given moment.

I love the idea of WFT being a little "blonde" lol

I was thinking about how I've never seen a WFT RPer, and it got me wondering how exactly that character could be played.

My Pit is supposed to be a combination of all his incarnations. In the artwork, NES Pit was shown to be tough and fierce while OM&M Pit is depicted as serious and dignified. Brawl Pit is energetic, focused, and confident. For Uprising, Japanese Pit and English Pit might as well be two different characters as Jap. Pit is more serious and level-headed, and shows more exasperation toward god antics than his English counterpart, who is a lot more comedic and thick-headed.

I've always RPed Pit in SSB RPs, and Uprising actually made RPing him harder because of how different the English version of Pit's character is from his other incarnations, and how much it conflicts with what was shown and established in the past games. I've ranted about that a bunch of times in this thread already though! This RP takes place after Uprising, and I would think a person would change and mature, even if only a tiny bit, if they've gone through the crap Pit has throughout that game. I'm also embracing the idea that Uprising Pit's cheerfulness is a mask; it's somewhat implied to be the case when Dark Pit was created.

Meanwhile my general thought-process with Toon Link is "make him an adorable badass"! I also like to take full advantage of his cartoony nature.
